Le Parc National Grand Paradis

Les Parcs Nationaux de la Vanoise et du Grand Paradis forment ensemble un territoire qui constitue un des plus grands espaces naturels d’Europe (1250m² protégés).

Créé en 1922, grâce à la donation à l’État de la part du roi Victor-Emmanuel IIIe de Savoie de sa légendaire réserve de chasse, le Parc Grand Paradis est le plus ancien Parc National d’Italie. À l’intérieur du parc (70 000 hectares), des centaines d’espèces d’animaux, plantes et fleurs rares cohabitent et sont sauvegardées dans le merveilleux cadre des Alpes. Le Parc est divisé entre les Vallées d’Aoste et du Piémont.

Une des raisons principales de la création de cette réserve naturelle est la sauvegarde de l’animal symbole du Parc, le Bouquetin Alpin: après la Seconde Guerre Mondiale, en effet, seulement 461 bouquetins avaient survécu dans le monde entier et ils se trouvaient tous dans le territoire du Parc. Autrefois considéré comme un obstacle à la croissance économique et au libre usage du territoire, le Parc National du Grand Paradis est devenu au fil des ans un lieu vénéré et préservé par tout le monde : aujourd’hui il unit avec sagesse la sauvegarde du territoire et l’aménagement durable à travers l’organisation de nombreuses initiatives et événements.

Les 116km du Trek Nature Grand Paradis Vanoise !

Accessible depuis l’an dernier, ce trek de 5-6 jours traverse une frontière et explore les confins de deux parcs nationaux à la biodiversité extraordinaire. Un projet idéal pour cet été, à réserver aux randonneurs émérites. Découvrez dans ces quelques lignes le Trek Nature Grand paradis Vanoise !

Deux versions de ce trek sont proposées : le tour classique et la version glaciaire. Le premier est composé de 6 étapes de randonnée « classique ». Le second comporte de la marche sur glacier, et nécessite donc une expérience et un matériel adéquat. La version la plus accessible n’est malgré tout pas donnée à tout le monde. Comptez 5 à 6 heures de marche par jour, avec entre 700 et 1.100 mètres de dénivelé. Les débutants devront donc privilégier une version accompagnée par un professionnel. Pour ne pas se perdre, une application mobile est disponible gratuitement dans les stores, elle contient cartes et topos mais aussi la météo sur le parcours ou les lieux d’étapes (refuge, restaurants…). Idéal pour préparer son parcours comme pour se repérer pendant le trek.

Un trek transfrontalier entre Vanoise et Grand Paradis

Issu d’une initiative transfrontalière financée par l’Union Européenne, le trek nature Grand Paradis Vanoise relie 5 communes et traverse les cœurs de deux parcs nationaux. Le Parc National de la Vanoise côté français, et le Grand Paradis côté italien. Cet itinéraire a également une portée historique. Car jadis, avant guerres et traités, ces communes avaient les mêmes racines. Et même si une frontière les sépare aujourd’hui, elles sont restées proches et ce parcours réaménagé renforce ces liens séculaires. Hier itinéraires de commerçants ou de contrebandiers, ces sentiers sont ainsi remis au goût du jour !

La boucle mesure quelques 116 kilomètres et peut s’effectuer au départ de n’importe quel point. Sur le parcours, vous découvrirez le plateau du Nivolet et ses grands lacs d’altitude, le Col Rosset et sa vue sur le Mont-Blanc, les bouquetins du Pian della Ballotta ou encore les Gorges de Malpasset et la vue panoramique depuis la Punta Basei à 3.338 mètres. Et que dire des petits villages typiques traversés, à l’image de Bonneval sur Arc côté français (inclus dans une variante). Chaque étape comporte ses spécificités, certaines sont plus difficiles que d’autres mais ce trek vaut le voyage. Mieux vaut réserver ses nuitées en refuge à l’avance, certains étant plus prisés que d’autres, surtout en plein cœur de l’été !

Trek sauvage entre deux grands Parcs Nationaux

Le Parc National du Grand-Paradis, en Italie, créé en 1922, fait office de pionnier dans l’histoire de la protection des espaces naturels de montagne. Il jouxte sur un large territoire son petit frère français, le Parc National de la Vanoise. A eux deux, ils offrent plus de 1200 km2 d’espace protégé. Entre eux s’étire une vaste barrière naturelle, traversée par quelques cols d’altitude. Ce circuit joue au passe-montagne, dans un décor sauvage et peu fréquenté. Un peu plus exigeant au niveau du physique et du confort, il offre en revanche une réelle immersion dans un univers d’altitude encore vierge.

L’itinéraire jour après jour...

RDV à la Gare SNCF de Bourg Saint Maurice à 8h30 et transfert au départ de la randonnée.  Si vous venez en voiture, rendez-vous à 9h30 au parking randonneur du Fenil, au dessus de Ste Foy Tarentaise.

LE MONAL - COL DU ROCHER BLANC   -  REFUGE BEZZI Départ par le village classé du Monal, une carte postale sur le Massif du mont Pourri. Montée par le vaste alpage du Plan jusqu’au col du Rocher Blanc (2833m), frontière avec l’Italie. Un autre itinéraire passant par le col du Lac Noir, plus sauvage encore, est possible. Descente dans le vallon de Valgrisenche par le lac de Grapillon, puis en traversée jusqu’au refuge de Bezzi. Nuit en refuge avec les bagages. 5h30 de marche / Dénivelé: +950 m -550 m

COL BASSAC DERE  -  REFUGE BENEVOLO Une très belle étape qui permet de randonner au plus près du glacier de Gliairetta. Montée au col de Bassac Déré à 3083m, avec une petite option sur la Tête Traversière possible par beau temps. Ambiance de haute-montagne. Descente de l'éboulis géant pour arriver au lac glaciaire de la Goletta. Pause photo... il reste une belle heure de marche pour rejoindre la prairie à Edelweiss de Benevolo. Nuit au refuge en dortoir, avec les bagages. 6h30 de marche / Dénivelé: +800 m -800 m

COL BASEY  -   LACS  LIETA  -   REFUGE SAVOIA Traversée dans les alpages puis ascension du col Basey à 3160 m, en bordure de l'imposant cirque glaciaire de la Tsanteleina . Petite option possible sur la Punta Basei, à 3338m. Descente sur le plateau de Rosset, le long des  lacs Rosset et Lieta… paysage de rêve face au Grand Paradis! Encore une journée photogénique à souhait ! Nuit au refuge Chivasso, sans les bagages .  5h30 de marche / Dénivelé: +980 m -680 m

COL DU CARRO  -   REFUGE DU CARRO Descente sur le lago Serru. Remontée sous le col, dans l'ancien lit glaciaire. Le sentier est plus ou moins présent dans cet environnement d'altitude, villégiature des camosci (chamois italiens). Après une dernière montée sur une épaule, un court passage câblé permet de prendre pied sur la belle esplanade du col du Carro (3122 m). Descente par les lacs Noir et Blanc au refuge du Carro, pour une nuit en refuge à 2700m d'altitude, mais sans les bagages. 6h00 de marche / Dénivelé: +900 m -750 m

REFUGE DU CARRO  -  SOURCES DE L'ARC - BONNEVAL SUR ARC Départ hors-sentier, le long des lacs, pour le col de Pariotes (3034m) qui permet de rejoindre les source de l'Arc. Descente de ce vallon sauvage, face au massif glaciaire de l'Albaron, jusqu'au village de l’Ecot, classé plus beau village de France. Selon l'envie du groupe, il est également possible de passer le col de Gontière et de traverser sur le beau sentier balcon de plan des Eaux, face à l'Albaron. Nuit en gîte ou hôtel au village typique de Bonneval sur Arc. 5h00 de marche / Dénivelé: +300 m -1250 m

COL DE BEZIN ET LA ROCHEURE  -  LA FEMMA Montée à L'Oulietta en navette. Montée au col de Besin (2929 m). Traversée du haut plateau glaciaire, sauvage et désertique, de Méan Martin pour rejoindre le col de la Rocheure (2911m). Descente rapide dans l'alpage pour retrouver le refuge de la Femma, blotti sous son gros rocher. Nuit en montagne, sans les bagages. 6h00 de marche / Dénivelé: +950 m -1050 m

COL DES PIERRES BLANCHES  -  COL DE LA LEISSE - TIGNES Montée au col des Pierres Blanches (2842 m) et traversée vers le vallon de la Leisse. Une dernière journée un peu sauvage, dans les vastes vallons de la Vanoise. Grande Casse et Grande Motte dominent le paysage. Et comme il faut bien rentrer, descente dans le Vallon de Tignes, terme de notre randonnée... 6h00 de marche / Dénivelé: +800 m -1050 m

Fin de la randonnée à 15h à Tignes et transfert pour 16h à Bourg Saint Maurice.

NIVEAU ****

Dénivelé : +/-900m en moyenne par jour Temps de marche : 5 à 7 heures par jour. Type de randonnée : itinéraire de montagne avec quelques passages escarpés. Un passage aérien le jour 4, sécurisé par des câbles. Certaines parties de l’itinéraire se déroulent hors sentiers, et traversent des pierriers. De bonnes chaussures de marche sont donc requises pour ce trek. 

Il est nécessaire d'être en bonne condition physique et avoir une aptitude mental aux longs efforts. Pratiquez régulièrement un sport d'endurance tel que la marche, la course à pied, le vélo, de 6 à 8 heures par semaine. ENCADREMENT

Nombre de participants compris entre 6 et 14 personnes encadrés par un professionnel diplômé (accompagnateur en montagne).

En remerciement, il est d'usage de donner un pourboire à votre accompagnateur à la fin de votre randonnée, selon votre satisfaction. Ceci n'est pas obligatoire mais très apprécié.

HÉBERGEMENT

5 nuits en dortoir en refuge. 1 nuit en chambres multiples en hôtel ou gîte. Tous les hébergements sont équipés de douches.

Les petits déjeuners et dîners sont servis dans les hébergements. Pour le midi, votre accompagnateur vous prépare avec soin un pique-nique généralement composé de salades variées et de produits régionaux. 

Merci de nous préciser vos allergies et régimes alimentaires  au moment de la réservation. Nous faisons de notre mieux pour prendre en compte les régimes particuliers (sans gluten, végétarien, etc.). Nous vous encourageons cependant à prévoir quelques produits complémentaires pour vos propres pique-niques.

ACCÈS AU POINT DE DÉPART

EN TRAIN Aller: Départ de Gare de Lyon (Paris) à 12h46 arrivée à Bourg Saint Maurice à 18h45. Retour: Départ Bourg Saint Maurice à 16h13 arrivée à (Paris) Gare de Lyon à 22h16. Les horaires doivent être vérifiés impérativement auprès de la SNCF. https://www.oui.sncf/

EN VOITURE Autoroute A430 jusqu’à Albertville, puis nationale N90 jusqu’à Bourg-Saint-Maurice. Prendre la direction Tignes - Val d'Isère. Passer le village de Sainte Foy tarentaise, puis le hameau de la Thuile. Continuer sur 4.5 km, puis prendre une petite route à gauche avant le paravalanche, direction le Monal, le Fenil. Se garer au parking randonneur du hameau du Chenal, lieu de RDV avec le groupe.

Fin de la randonnée à Tignes à 15h00, transfert à Bourg St Maurice pour 16h00.

SAC À DOS

Prévoir un sac à dos confortable de 30 à 40 litres pour vos effets de la journée (un vêtement chaud, une cape de pluie, une gourde, boite et couverts pour le pique-nique, protection solaire et papiers d'identité) et un peu de place pour transporter un pique-nique et des encas.

TRANSPORT DE BAGAGES

Vos affaires de rechange doivent être regroupées en  1 seul sac souple de 10kg maximum par personne.  Votre bagage est acheminé par un véhicule logistique d'étape en étape, sauf les nuits 3, 4 et 6, dans des hébergements dont l'accès n'est pas toujours simple. Attention, les bagages trop lourds ne seront pas pris en charge par les chauffeurs, pensez à leurs dos !

VOTRE SAC A DOS POUR LES NUITS SANS BAGAGES

Pour les nuits 3, 4 et 6,  vous n'aurez pas votre bagage à l'hébergement (vous le retrouvez le lendemain). Voici quelques conseils concernant les éléments à emporter (environ 2 kg suffisent !) : - Un petit nécessaire de toilette - Votre drap-sac - Vêtements de rechange pour le lendemain (le strict nécessaire !) et vêtements/chaussures confortables pour la soirée.

Moscow parks – leisure, nature and historical

Moscow is the most green megapolis in the world. There are over a hundred parks and green spaces like gardens, squares and boulevards. You will definitely bump into a few of them wherever you go. Whether you are interested in memorial, historic parks, parks of wildlife or you just want to have a calm break from the speedy city life – city parks have something special for everyone.

Moscow leisure parks

The leisure Moscow parks are undoubtedly the most popular and famous with the locals and travelers. Today such parks provide a great number of exciting entertainments for Muscovites and city guests, adults and children.

The Gorky Park

Gorky Park opened in 1928 and was the first holiday park in the Soviet Union with playgrounds, a sports stadium, exhibition halls and attractions for kids. Today it has a fresh, vibrant appearance. The park features bike rental stations, a comfortable business area with Wi-Fi, an outdoor movie theatre and a greenhouse where you can buy fresh greens such as basil and lettuce. To contemplate the sky and the stars, go to the observatory and look through the telescope while listening to fascinating stories from astronomers. Enjoy many sports in the park: volleyball, handball, football or a peaceful jog around the beautiful surroundings.

Zaryadye Park

Opened in September 2017, Zaryadye is the youngest on our list. Located just a few minutes away from Red Square, it includes various activities like the floating bridge with its thin V-form extension, an ice cave, also concert hall and an amphitheater. The entire territory of the park was divided into four zones of Russia: forest, steppe, tundra, and the floodplains.

Neskuchny Sad

By walking along the Moskva River’s bank from the Gorky Park towards Vorobievy Gory (Sparrow Hills) you’ll reach Neskuchny Sad («Not Boring» garden), a wonderful place in the Moscow center, one of Moscow’s oldest parks, charming slice of wildlife. The park mostly consists of pristine forest, dotted with old summer pavilions, ponds and quaint little stone bridges. There are a lot of opportunities for different activities lots of children playground, a ping-pong and chess clubs, football fields and tennis courts, horse riding, tree climbing and having rest in one of the nice cafes.

Museon Park

Hermitage Garden

Hermitage Garden has always been known as an amusement, entertainment center with theatres, shows, cafes, summer pavilions, pergolas since 1830. Shalyapin, Sobinov, Nezhdanova – great Russian opera singers starred on the garden stage. Famous Russian composer Rakhmaninov conducted the orchestra. Sara Bernar, Maria Yermolova, outstanding actresses, played in the open air performances. Tolstoy and Lenin had a stroll in the garden. So lots of celebrities from different epoques liked it a lot and spent their time in Hermitage Garden. You can find here three theatres in the garden: Hermitage, Sphere and New Opera. During winter an ice rink works here and in summer a musical stage is assembled to host jazz and brass band festivals.

In Sokolniki Park visitors can play billiard, chess or draughts, table tennis, as well as go cycling, roller blading and swimming in the summer and ice skating or skiing in winter. Each season is highlighted by special memorable and bright events, for example, Summer Jazz Festival or Baby Fest (for future mums), open air beach disco parties, Ice Cream Day, International Clown Festival and many other shows and exhibitions. The park has an observatory, kids center and a co-working zone with free Wi-Fi which is really nice for spending high quality work time there.

Moscow nature parks

The nature parks are national reserves with the amazing forestry and incredible variety of animals and plants there. The breath of wildlife and the chance to be closer to the virgin nature excites both children and grownups. Hundreds of different species of animals can be found in Moscow nature parks. The richest woodlands with old and even ancient trees, like a 200 years pine-tree in the Elk Island National Nature Park, are the point of passionate interest for visitors.

Aptekarsky Ogorod

Aptekarsky Ogorod (Apothecary Garden)

Aptekarsky Ogorod (Apothecary Garden) is one of the oldest gardens in Moscow. It was founded in the XVIII century by Peter the First (great Russian emperor). A larch that he planted himself still grows in the garden, so it’s more than 250 years old. At the time of its foundation, it was a garden with herbs and medicinal plants and was used as an educational center for doctors. Today there are the orangery with its tropical palms, the carp pond, and the immense trees that dot the landscape and turn wonderful golden shades in the autumn. Several restaurants and cafes work here making it a very nice spot for relaxation no matter what season it is. You can book a special tour or join the guided excursion group.

Losiny Ostrov

Losiny Ostrov (Elk Island Park)

Losiny Ostrov (Elk Island Park) is located at the north of Moscow. It covers 22 km from the west to the east and 10 km from the north to the south and it’s one of the most beautiful national parks in Moscow. Two rivers, Yausa and Pechorka begin here. You can find lots of fields, ponds, meadows, streams in the park as well as elks. Here you can enjoy guided tours, available in English. You can choose a guided tour about flora and fauna of the area, you’ll learn why elks are there, which animals are their neighbors. Or enjoy another excursion, which is totally devoted to historical past of ancient tribes once lived there, you’ll know about old Russian mythology, rituals and traditions.

Serebyany Bor

Serebyany Bor (Silver Forest)

Serebyany Bor (Silver Forest) is a famous pine forest in the west of Moscow. The park has 230 forms of plant life, and is also home to watersports complex, providing a lot of activities for visitors. The layout of Serebryany Bor is unusual, as it is located on an artificial island between a meander in the Moscow River and a channel. There is an artificial lake, the Deep Gulf and picturesque Bezdonnoe (Bottomless) Lake in the depths of the forest. Serebryany Bor’s beaches are the cleanest in the city and very popular among Muscovites. On weekends it is difficult to find a free spot here, especially because a whole range of services are offered to visitors, from simple deckchairs to catamaran and yacht rides. Driving is prohibited on the territory of the island so be ready to use trolleybus to reach the entrance.

Botanichesky Sad

Greenhouse of Botanical Garden

Main Botanical Garden of The Russian Academy of Sciences is the largest and most famous is Moscow. The garden is a real museum of nature with a very rich (more than 18000 types) collection of plants. The park was founded in 1945 at the place of the 17th century Apothecaries’ Gardens. The garden’s collection is turned into botanical expositions, made with use of modern receptions of landscape architecture. Here you can see a tree nursery, a shadow garden, hothouse complex, collection of flowers, a rosary, exposition of coastal plants, garden of continuous blossoming, Japanese garden and expositions of cultural plants and natural flora plants. The biggest part of Garden is the Tree nursery occupying the space of 75 hectares. About 2 thousand wood plants grow here. Another big exposition of the Garden is nature Flora, divided into six botanic-geographical collections: European part of Russia, Caucuses, Central Asia, Siberia and Far East. Pride of the Main Botanical Garden is the collection of tropical, coastal and water plants, which is considered as the best in Europe. The Japanese garden, a great model of Japanese landscape gardening art has a 13-level stone pagoda of the 18th century, stone Japanese lamps, ponds, falls and streams, tea lodges and more than 100 species of the most character Japan plants. It is especially decorative in spring, during Oriental cherry blossoming and in fall, when foliage blazes in crimson colors.

Moscow historic parks

Historic nature parks and estates once were the mansions of the Moscow aristocracy. At that far times the estates were outside the Moscow city limits, but after the city expansion and urbanization, they became easily accessible.

Kolomenskoye

Kolomenskoye Museum and Park

The chief attraction of the park is undoubtedly the stone Church of the Ascension of the Lord. It was constructed in 1532 by order of Tsar Vasily III to commemorate the birth of his son and heir, Ivan the Terrible. But there is a lot more to see in the park: the pretty Church of the Icon of Our Lady of Kazan – with its bright azure domes and plenty of gold. Further into the park there is a charming Church of the Beheading of St John the Baptist, built by Ivan the Terrible to mark his coronation.

Kuskovo Park

Kuskovo Park is one of the oldest country estates in Moscow. It was given to General Sheremetev by Peter the Great in 1715, but was left to fall into neglect before being plundered by Napoleon’s troops in 1812. Nowadays the estate has been restored to its former glory and is a good example of Russian 18th Century imperial architecture. The palace is a fine and rare example of wooden neoclassicism. It was completed in 1775, and the rich interiors remain unchanged since 1779. It includes a room hung with exclusive exquisite Flemish tapestries, an abundance of silk wallpaper and an impressive collection of 18th century European and Russian paintings. The palace looks onto the lake, which is surrounded by smaller pavilions: pretty Italian, Dutch and Swiss Cottages, Blank’s Hermitage and the old Orangery, where the State Ceramics Museum is located now, an extensive and absorbing collection of porcelain from the 18th century to the present day. On the other side of the lake is a large wood popular with local cyclists and joggers.

The twenty-first century is the era when populations of cities will exceed rural communities for the first time in human history. The population growth of cities in many countries, including those in transition from planned to market economies, is putting considerable strain on ecological and natural resources. This paper examines four central issues: (a) the challenges and opportunities presented through working in jurisdictions where there are no official or established methods in place to guide regional, ecological and landscape planning and design; (b) the experience of the author’s practice—Gillespies LLP—in addressing these challenges using techniques and methods inspired by McHarg in Design with Nature in the Russian Federation in the first decade of the twenty-first century; (c) the augmentation of methods derived from Design with Nature in reference to innovations in technology since its publication and the contribution that the art of landscape painters can make to landscape analysis and interpretation; and (d) the application of this experience to the international competition and colloquium for the expansion of Moscow. The text concludes with a comment on how the application of this learning and methodological development to landscape and ecological planning and design was judged to be a central tenant of the winning design. Finally, a concluding section reflects on lessons learned and conclusions drawn.

Gorky Park (The Central Park of Culture and Leisure) – The main one of the Moscow Parks

In my opinion this park could be called the main park of the city. Why? Because of its huge territory, the central location and the amount of people visiting the park daily.  It was founded in 1928 and in 2011 it was totally reconstructed. Now it pleases visitors with modern objects and soft green lawns.

The Gorky park is a the right choice for everyone! The youth will like a free WiFi, bicycles, skateboards and other rentals; the couples will enjoy spending time near the river, watching a sunset; parents will appreciate colorful playgrounds and a room for mother and child. Everyone can find something for themselves: from yoga classes  to watching movies in a cozy summer cinema, from dance classes to volleyball playground. Gorky Park is also the venue for all kinds of exhibitions, festivals, events for children and adults. During the winter there is one of the biggest skating rinks in the park.

Museon Art Park – A Second Gorky they say

“Museon” is located on the opposite side of Krimsky Val street. And right now some people believe that Gorky and Museon together is a one space sharing the same beauty.

The Park of Arts was named this way because there is the largest composition of open-air sculptures in Russia. In its territory there are already more than 1000 unique exhibits: from monuments of the socialist realism era to various kinds of contemporary art. But this is not all the attractions of the park. In recent years, “Museon” has become an important cultural site of the city. The park regularly hold many different concerts, festivals, educational projects in the field of art and design. There is a Central House of the Artist, a comfortable summer cinema and other attractions on territory. Be sure to stroll pedestrian Crimean embankment, which looks like a modern park.

Neskuchny Garden – True Russian Nature is Here

Neskuchny garden is located on the right bank of the Moscow River. Today it is also seen as a part of the Gorky Park. This landscape park is one of the oldest in the city and is protected by the state. Its name was received from the Neskuchnoye Estate of  Prince Trubetskoi which is still located in the park.

This park is famous mostly for its location close to the Gorky park. It is a quite place with true nature, lots of trees and squirrels and also ancient architecture. As in every park, there are sports and playgrounds, cafes and even a football field.

Zaryadye Park – 5 Steps Away From The Red Square

The area of this brand new park was opened only in September 2017 and located in the very heart of Moscow – right near the Red Square.

The park has 4 zones, each of them represent different parts of Russian landscapes. Above the river there is a floating bridge from where you get to see one of the best panoramic views on Moscow. Other attractions of the park are 5D cinema where you can take a flight above Moscow, few cafes and restaurants, pretty lakes with fishes and old preserved churches. In addition there is still being built a  philharmonic hall, covered with a huge dome and an Ice cage where the temperature will always stay below zero degrees.

All-Russia Exhibition Center (VDNKh) – The Soviet Style Moscow Park

Park VDNKh – one of the most famous parks in Moscow. This park is one of the sights of the city as it hasn’t changed much since the Soviet era.

The symbol of VDNKh is a fountain with 16 women symbolizing the friendship of the nations of the USSR. Around this fountain there are all the pavilions representing 16 republics. Now inside the pavilions you find various shops, cafes and exhibitions. If you go deep inside the park you will find a rocket Vostok and and an aircraft. What is funny the inside of the aircraft there is actually a photo exhibition. Near the northern entrance you there is a famous sculpture “Worker and Kolkhoz Woman”. It is extremely famous among Russians as all the movies by Mosfilm corporation used to start with the picture of this statue. But if you go further inside the park you will reach a very calm area. A lake is there, forest and birds singing. Since the park occupies a large area I suggest you to rent a bicycle.

Sokolniki Park – A Place For A Hunt Or For Leisure?

The park got its name because of the royal falconry, which took place there in the past when there was a dense forest. (Sokol means a falcon.) In 2011 it was significantly transformed: updated lawns, landscaped ponds and picnic areas, restored summer cinema and theater, a large rose garden, sports grounds, bicycle paths and other things.

From the main entrance along the alley you can walk to the Sokolniki circle, where 8 alleys form 9 sectors, in each of them you will find trees of the same breed.  The park is famous for its rosary, as well as flower decoration. On the territory of the park there are concert halls, a library, amusement zone, dances zone and many many other attractions. In winter the park has a skating rink (a free of charge one) and ski runs. During the warm season you can rent a bicycle.

Tsaritsino Park – A Different World Inside Moscow

Here you can walk for hours, admiring the most beautiful nature and magnificent architecture.

The most amazing part of the park is the lake with a light and musical fountain. Every evening the fountain starts the show. Lights and music combined make you feel like you are not in Moscow but in a fairy tale. The park is also well equipped for sports lovers and healthy lifestyle. There are volleyball and basketball courts, a tennis court, sports facilities for acrobatics, bodybuilding equipment.

What I personally like about this park is the atmosphere. This place is actually far from the city center but I love going there anyway. Whenever I go there I feel like I left Moscow with all its hectic lifestyle. It is the place where I relax, enjoy myself or a company of my friends and feel kind of different. By the way totally suggested for a date!

Kolomenskoye Park – Combination Of Reserve and Architecture

The Kolomenskoye park is actually a Museum-Reserve. It is a former residence of Russian tsars and one of the most scenic places in Moscow.

 Alike with Tsaritsino park Kolomenskoye park has its own special atmosphere with all the architecture, trees, ponds and even a river bank. The park regularly hosts various folk festivals and different fairs. In summer time you can play with kites or rent a bicycle and ride around the huge area of the park.

I love the view that you get on the city from one of the hills near the river. I love the apple trees alleys and the beautiful churches. It is also a bit far from the city center but yet worth going there. One of my best friends even celebrated her wedding there.

Aptekarsky Garden or Botanical garden of the Moscow State University – The Best Botanical Garden in The World

Aptekar in Russian language means a pharmacist so basically it is a pharmacist’s garden. It was founded in 1706 by Peter The Great for growing medicinal plants for the royal family. But later they moved it from under the walls of the Kremlin to the current location.

In the botanical garden there are no attractions and noisy crowds of tourists. The area of the garden is not as big as any other park in Moscow. And the entrance is not free. But this exactly what makes this park one of the most comfortable in the city. In the Aptekarsky garden they grow thousands of different plants, flowers and trees. Some of the trees are more than 300 years old. They held different festivals there: flowers festivals, sand and ice sculptures expositions.

For me it is one of the most beautiful parks not only in Moscow but in the world. I have never seen so many different flowers and plants anywhere else. And trust me I am a real park lover. And what is more the staff really takes care about every single tree or plant there, some of the trees have names and stories. I love it there and I think the price is really worth what you get.

Victory Park – A Park That Makes Us Remember The War

The park is located on the Poklonnaya Hill and it has one of the world’s largest memorial complexes dedicated to the World War II. The park was opened for the 50th anniversary of the Victory on May 9, 1995. It is also one of the main venues in the city for holding a variety of mass events.

On the main avenue of the park there are with 1418 fountains – exactly as long as the war lasted. Fountains make five water terraces, symbolizing five years of military operations. And in the center of the park there is the Museum of the Great Patriotic War. If you are interested in the history of the war do not miss it. The Poklonnaya Hill is a part of the park and from the hill you get one of the best views on the city of Moscow. And I could say this is the best place for watching the fireworks during the mass celebrations. But be aware it gets too crowded then. As in most of the other big parks you can rent a bicycle or rollers there.

Izmailovsky Park – A Mix of a Big Forest and Attractions

Izmaylovsky Park occupies a huge green territory, making up a large part of the Izmailovo district. The park consists of two parts: Izmaylovsky Park of Culture and Rest and the forest park of Izmailovo. First part is full of attractions and restaurants while the second one is like a real forest with pine trees, birch groves, beautiful clearings and ponds.

It is easy to spend there a whole day. A large landscaped area and a lot of various entertainments for children and adults will help you not to get bored. An observation wheel, a boat station, children’s playgrounds, a dance floor, sports grounds, a skate park – all this is only a small part of the possible leisure activities. In the park there are bike paths and a rental services.

I don’t go there often to be honest. But the park is very very close whenever to a souvenir market on Partizanskaya metro station. And whenever the weather is nice and I have enough of free time I stroll through the alleys of the park and enjoy the nature. So if you are going to the souvenir market too and you have enough free time then do go to the park too.
