Seasons of Play
Spring season.
Spring Season baseball begins with practices in early March and games starting in late March or early April. Registration opens at the end of the prior fall season. ABR offers baseball programs for kids ages 4 to 12 years old. The “baseball age” birthdate is determined by the player’s age on April 30th of the spring season.
Our goal is to provide players with a fun and social baseball experience. Younger levels will be structured to provide as many “touch opportunities” as possible. Older levels will emphasize skill development. We encourage neighborhood teams and give players the opportunity to enjoy baseball with friends and schoolmates. Registering early—before rosters fill—is the best way to help make this happen.
Every child placed on team based on age & skill level – division overlap and customized rules for each division assures each child will play where he/she will be most successful. Small teams and play rules assure player participation.
ABR is among the lowest cost youth sports programs in the area and includes full uniforms for Blastball through AAA divisions. All players will receive a Washington Nationals shirt and cap. Financial aid is available.
For more information on the different levels ABR has to offer click here.
Summer Ball
Ages 7-10 Summer Play Season
The Summer Play program is a commitment by ABR to provide summer baseball opportunities to as many players as want to play after the end of the Spring season. The goal will be to create as many teams as needed to allow all who are interested to participate. The emphasis will be to continue to develop skills that were learned in the Spring season and continue to improve baseball fundamentals. Players will be placed on teams with other players from the same neighborhood or school district to the extent possible. These teams will compete against each other and may also have joint practices and instructional clinics at no additional expense to the participants. The season begins in early July and continues through late July or early August. Team jerseys and hats will be provided by ABR; players will provide their own gray baseball pants.
Fall Ball is an instructional season that emphasizes learning and developing skills in a less competitive environment than Spring baseball. Players are encouraged to sharpen their skills, try new positions, and have fun!
Fall Ball usually consists of one practice and one game per week. Most games for T-Ball through AAA will be on Saturdays. Most Majors games will be played on a weeknight. The goal of Fall Ball is to focus on instruction, allow players to rotate into new positions, transition to new divisions, and work on refining baseball fundamentals.
ABR offers Tball, Coach pitch (A and AA), AAA (1st year and 2nd year player pitch) and Majors (46/60 and 50/70) in the fall.
ABR Storm travel teams may participate in Northern Virginia Travel Baseball league during the Fall. These players use the Fall to continue to compete against higher levels of competition in NVTBL. Storm players are not required to participate in the Fall season, but it is strongly encouraged for continued development.

Solar eclipse 2024: Photos from the path of totality and elsewhere in the U.S.
Images show the Great American Eclipse, seen by tens of millions of people in parts of Mexico, 15 U.S. states and eastern Canada for the first time since 2017.
Millions gathered across North America on Monday to bask in the glory of the Great American Eclipse — the moment when the moon passes between the Earth and the sun.
The path of totality measures more than 100 miles wide and will first be visible on Mexico’s Pacific coast before moving northeast through Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Missouri, Illinois and upward toward New York, New Hampshire and Maine, then on to Canada.
Total solar eclipse 2024 highlights: Live coverage, videos and more
During the cosmic spectacle, the moon’s movements will temporarily block the sun’s light, creating minutes of darkness, and will make the sun's outer atmosphere, or the corona, visible as a glowing halo.
Here are moments of the celestial activities across the country:
