Another unforgettable memory is Furneaux Lodge Restaurant. The dish sizes are so big that changing my understanding of western food. Very different and delicious. The waitress was careful and friendly.

The itinerary is quite relaxed, not in hurry, varied and special to us, much different to my previous travel experience in last 15 years in NZ.

I just want to say a big ‘thank you’ for all the arrangements you made for us – the direct flights, Hertz rental and extremely comfortable and well positioned Asure Holiday Motel, where the host and his wife were very welcoming and made our stay very pleasant.   And, although you had no hand in it, the weather was absolutely perfect too. Highlight was the ship!! I can recommend the Viking ocean ships to anyone of a “mature”age.  Absolutely faultless with interesting lectures, great port talks and excursions. There were free trips at every port but if you wanted more there were extensive options.

All in all it is one of the best trips we have done and we will be watching what Viking has to offer for future cruises—definitely the way to travel!!

Mecure Hotel at Heathrow – very good for what we needed.  Eurostar – great – we both enjoyed the train trips.

Desgin Sorbonne – delightfully French/Paris.  The larger room was beautiful but typically small Parisian.  Great location.  We loved Paris.

French rail to The Hague – great being on the train.  The Hague Marriott – awesome hotel and brilliant.

Lufthansa – very good, no problems

Overall I was very impressed with your choices for us.

“We had a great trip thank you… Our hotel in New York BELVEDERE was perfect . Easy walk to everything we wanted; theatres, Times Square, shops etc. We’d recommend the hop-on / hop-off bus, harbour boat tour and Century 21 shopping for designer ‘everything’ at crazy low prices. Times Square Diner & Grill (807 8th Ave) had the best food and service, was open 24/7 and popular! We ate there every day, sometimes twice!

Times Square – at any hour – was amazing. Kinky Boots on broadway – OMG, the men in those dresses and heels! Easy to get good Broadway tickets at cheap prices on the day in Times Square at “tkts” under the big stairs. Most shows available. They would rather sell the tickets cheaper than have empty seats. 

  If you want to do the Empire State Building do it first thing in the morning as it’s the quietest time and even then it’s busy. Pre-purchase tickets for the 911 museum as the one the hop-on / hop-off bus offered is not the main museum and the queues there are horrendous. We did a harbour cruise and saw the Statute of Liberty and Ellis Island by water rather than queue to see them from land, it was a nice way to see the city, and the bridges, from a distance.

Central Park was lovely as well. Great place to stroll and get away from the concrete and buildings. 

The hotel in Houston SHERATON SUITES HOUSTON GALLERIA was perfect also for the shopping. Loved the area with the mall, so handy. Galleria. OMG!!! Want to go back as we didn’t see everything there. Just too big and not enough suitcases. Sheraton had great courtesy bus that took us to the shops and back. 

Plenty of time and directions as far as flights and connections go. All transfers were on time and easy to find. Tours were great. Enjoyed NASA. Houston was a-buzz even after the hurricane they had earlier…. the city was looking quite good considering. They have been busy cleaning up!

Thanks for all that you arranged  for us, we had an amazing holiday. Two places stand out in Italy. Top would be Venice for us followed by Amalfi. The accommodation at both places was really great also, as was all the accommodation you arranged. My wow moment was while taking a shower in our hotel room in Venice and being “serenaded” by the gondola person on the boat below in the waterways, I’ll never forget this. The Greek Island cruise we did was everything we wanted and more. Don’t think we will ever do a cruise to better this in the future.

So happy to be home again as two months was a long time.

Yes we had a great time. Interesting contrast between Sri Lanka and the Maldives. Loved Sri Lanka with all its different cultures, religion, history and a really nice and knowledgeable driver. We didn’t do the Safari as we spoke to a number of people who said who don’t see any animals. The driver said they are going to be closing that park soon as there is not a lot of wildlife around due to lack of rain. There was plenty of wild life at the Yala Jetwing hotel, which was pretty special.

The 4 nights in the Maldives was the most perfect way to relax. You couldn’t fault the resort and it was handy to the airport, Male and Manta Point dives site, where we went scuba diving and got to spend about 15mins with two 3 meter Manta Rays, I felt blessed.

I can’t thank you and Hannah enough for organising everything, from filling out the departure cards to the pickups and drop offs and fabulous hotels etc. I never really realized the value of booking through a travel agent until this trip. I guess it’s like getting an architect to design your houses, you know all the tricks of the trade.

We had a fabulous cruise and stay in Honolulu – much of this thanks to your excellent organisation and arrangements! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!

The Hilton Garden Inn was great, as was the Banyon Waikiki! The latter was so spacious and so very well equipped with everything we needed. Would happily go there again!

We were very busy and did heaps in Honolulu (Snorkelling, Climbing Diamond Head, Doing a trip around the whole of the island, swimming, shopping!!!, great food, etc.)

Our best meal was had at Uncle Bo’s! Looked like nothing from the outside, but inside it was lovely, the food was excellent and very well priced!

We enjoyed the fireworks at the Hilton Hawaiian Village on the Friday night, but the New Year’s fireworks from Waikiki Beach was just fantastic!

All in all an awesome trip!

We are back safe and well . We had a magnificent holiday in Oman, everything was overwhelmingly organized and enjoyable.

Beautiful country too.

Orbit World Travel Christchurch is looking for an Accounts Assistant to join our growing Christchurch team.  The successful candidate will work on a variety of Finance areas including both Accounts Payable and Receivable with more tasks added as experience grows.

While fulltime is preferred, part-time applicants will be considered (minimum 24 hours).

What we are ideally looking for:

  • At least 2-3 years proven accounting experience
  • Ability to prioritise and meet deadlines as required
  • Good communication and organisational skills
  • Exceptional time management and attention to detail are essential
  • High level of administration and computer skills (including Excel)
  • Previous Travel Management experience is not essential but would certainly be beneficial

In this post COVID world we live its sure has been a roller coaster ride, but I am confident we are going to emerge out of this stronger and better than before.

A bit about me, I missed my old job being a Travel Agent, so whilst there is not currently enough work around to support me doing what I love full time, getting amongst it and joining up with Travel Advocates on a part time basis is certainly a way of staying in the loop and of course helping you with your travel needs, both domestically in New Zealand or perhaps a bit further afield as the travel bubbles allow.

I’m so lucky, I love my job and I have been in the Travel Industry for 30+ year. I have been a travel consultant now for 4 years and have achieved very high levels specialising in cruises. I love my job and am blessed to have a career that combines my own personal passion for travel with the opportunity to help make the travel dreams of my clients come true.

Started with Hoot Cruises as my Travel Career. Within my first year I was a finalist for “CLIA Rising Star New Zealand” for the CLIA Cruise Awards 2017 and then in 2019 I was a finalist for “CLIA Cruise Consultant of the Year – New Zealand”. In 2019 I achieved CLIA Master Accredited status My recent cruises include: P&O – Pacific Pearl; Princess Cruises – Ruby Princess; Holland America – Noordam; Oceania – Regatta; Dream Cruises – Explorer Dream Favourite Ship: Gee that’s a hard one as they all have so many different aspects to them. Being able to meet new people, sit back relax with each day bringing new experiences you cannot beat. The Explorer Dream had amazing on-board entertainment, Oceania Regatta was beautiful boutique luxury. I have enjoyed each cruise ship I have either cruised or inspected during my time and hopefully will have many more to cruise with.

I have worked in retail travel here in Christchurch for over 20 years, it’s an industry I have a real passion for! There is nothing I enjoy more than guiding my clients through the travel planning process and turning their travel dreams to reality.

I’m now working with Travel Advocates, a business wholly owned by House of Travel Holdings, they specialize in working with people like myself who work remotely. I will continue to deliver amazing service to my loyal client base, keeping each of you informed on the latest products and travel trends that I feel its something that will appeal or be of interest.

I’ve been in the travel industry for 30+ years and have travelled extensively throughout Asia, the Americas and Europe. My particular specialty is Asia-Pacific and I am fluent in Cantonese & Mandarin. Elite Travel also has a Japanese division and our staff are Japanese fluent.

Travel is my passion and I aim to travel several annually to visit new destinations which are becoming popular with the market and to revisit the “classic” bucket list destinations that many people wish to see. My husband is a keen marathon runner and in recent years I have supported his marathons in London, Berlin, New York, Chicago, Tokyo and Vanvouver. When I’m not working or travelling I enjoy cooking and shopping!
