New Toyota Aygo X Undercover 2023 review

The toyota aygo x crossover-inspired city car gets a limited-edition fashion-designer makeover.

cruise control toyota aygo x

4.0 out of 5

Toyota logo

The Undercover Edition’s cosmetic tweaks don’t really add too much to the package, and we’d suggest going for a more modest grade (not to mention a more affordable manual model) unless you really value the exclusivity it offers. However, the changes for this special edition also don’t detract from what is one of few petrol-powered city cars on sale in 2023. The Aygo X is fun to drive, has plenty of features and looks cool. It’s as simple as that.

Small cars are something of a dying breed. Manufacturers are struggling to make money from these pint-sized offerings – even the Ford Fiesta is no longer in production, and when did you ever think you’d read that statement?

However, as brands depart the small-car segment, there’s opportunity for companies such as Toyota to mop up sales from buyers who still want a small, efficient, nimble and relatively affordable model.

Ah yes, affordability.  At £21,215, this new Aygo X Undercover Edition with an automatic gearbox isn’t exactly cheap, but then, few new cars on sale can be classed as such. Go for a base-spec manual version and you’ll pay a more palatable £17,095, but the Undercover Edition is a great expression of what the Aygo X is all about.

This pumped-up, SUV -inspired city car has been created in collaboration with Japanese fashion designer Jun Takahashi. Just 5,000 examples will be made for Europe, so the price buys you a little bit of exclusivity, too – and a unique design.

Toyota Aygo X Undercover - rear

The Undercover Edition features two-tone bodywork, with black highlights over the grey main colour. There are flashes of red on the 18-inch alloy wheels, plus “Chaos” and “Balance” logos on the roof and the floor mats. There are more red flashes inside on the impressively supportive seats as well, and the high-spec Aygo X features plenty of kit.

It’s based on the Exclusive trim and features full keyless entry, a nine-inch touchscreen system with wireless smartphone charging, plus Android Auto and Apple CarPlay . Climate control is included, along with front and rear parking sensors and a reversing camera, which isn’t exactly necessary in a car that measures just 3,700mm long and 1,740mm wide. Heated seats are also fitted as standard, while buyers can opt for a JBL stereo at £495.

One thing we would forego is the CVT gearbox. Doing so will save you £1,105 and serve up a more fun driving experience. The gearbox is sluggish to respond and brings out the worst in the 71bhp 1.0-litre three-cylinder petrol engine. Accelerate hard and all the powertrain seems to do is send the revs soaring, producing an annoying, growling drone in the process as the CVT unit holds the engine rpm high for maximum power. But with a 14.8-second 0-62mph time, it’s really not very fast.

The manual is actually one tenth of a second slower, but it’s a nicer experience because refinement isn’t disrupted as much. We should point out that the CVT automatic also doesn’t dent the Aygo’s efficiency too badly either, with Toyota claiming between 56.0 and 58.9mpg for the manual (109-110g/km of CO2 emissions), while the automatic’s figures stand at 54.7-56.5mpg, with between 113 and 114g/km of CO2.

Toyota Aygo X Undercover - dash

However, both cars benefit from the same handling traits. Driving the 965kg Aygo X reminds you how pleasurable a simple, small petrol car can be. There’s bags of grip (for a city car), the steering is sharp enough, and with such little weight to haul around, inertia is low, so the Aygo changes direction sweetly. To sum it all up, it just feels good fun.

Despite the Toyota’s relatively simple suspension set-up, and riding on 18-inch alloys (large for a city car), the Aygo X doesn’t bobble from bump to bump too badly. It’s upset by really rough surfaces, but there’s compliance in the suspension to the point where the ride refinement is much better than the powertrain refinement. It’s comfortable on the motorway, yet its more budget-focused roots are also highlighted here by noticeable wind and road noise.

The tweaks for the Undercover Edition haven’t changed the Aygo X’s practicality. It’s a small car, but it doesn’t necessarily feel it in the front, with plenty of big-car technology and the reassurance of Toyota’s Safety Sense systems watching over you (a positive in a city car).

But even though it’s a five-door, access to the rear is limited, with a small aperture to climb through. Legroom is particularly cramped behind the tallest of drivers or passengers, although headroom is fair. Boot space stands at 231 litres, which is also fair for a car in this class, although you have to lift bags up and over a significant lip, formed by the Aygo X’s chunky rear bumper.

You fly for hours, anticipating your arrival, wanting to take in the area and the views of another country far away from your departure airport. The airport and the area you leave from is detailed and visually full, and you know you have a great airport scenery waiting for you at the other end of the flight, then when you arrive...

...  Nothing, but flat plain emptiness and the same boring standard X-Plane basic scenery, worse there is no OSM (Open Street Map) data in the tile either, so there is no road or autogen detailing in there as well, just well nothing.

When Drzewiecki Design released their UUEE Sheremetyevo Airport XP , I loved it because it was like a visitor from the Cold War past, the Soviet era, and it was also great scenery and great choice of a destination to fly to from any of the capitals of Europe...  but that was it, just this great airport in the middle of nothingness, bland....   zero ville.

Moscow old.jpg

Now Drzewiecki Design has released "Moscow City"  a scenery package to compliment their UUEE Sheremetyevo, and boy how much a difference this release has done to this totally boring area.

To get the full first impression effect I flew JARDesign's A320neo from EFHK Vatnaa, Helsinki to UUEE Sheremetyevo which is flight Finnair AY153 which is a daily 9.25am service.

Moscow City_ Dep Vatnaa 1.jpg

First Impressions

I was surprised to start picking up scenery still quite away out from central Moscow, as I approached my 6000ft transition altitude. Here there was buildings and houses and the physical visual notes you were arriving somewhere.

Moscow City_ Dep arrival 1.jpg

Looking hard at the horizon through the A320's windows and you could see the iconic silhouette of Moscow city.

Moscow City_ Dep arrival 5.jpg

The scenery provides lite versions of all Moscow's Airports, this is UUWW Vnukovo, which was easily recognisable as you flew over. As you fly closer to the centre of the city the density of the objects below becomes quite heavy as the landscape fills in. You have all kinds of infrastructure including, blocks of flats, tower blocks, factories, housing, skyscrapers and almost everything that makes up an urban landscape, in all there is 2000 custom-made buildings that makes up this impressive scenery.

A note here in that you don't get that rolling as you move feeling effect where as it just suddenly appears in front of you and then quickly disappears behind as soon as you have flown out over the area. There is a slight effect of that as there has to be, but only in the far distance and as you can see from the images the views in every direction are widespread and visually it is very good to excellent.

The "Seven Sisters" or "Stalinist skyscrapers" built from 1947 to 1953 are all in the scenery with their "Wedding Cake" architecture or officially  Russian Baroque               - Gothic style. Most famous is the Moscow State University, front and centre of the image below.

Moscow City_ Dep arrival LG 16.jpg

Central Moscow is excellent and extremely realistic, and you really need a travel guide to pick out the landmarks and detail, but it is hard to miss the Red Kremlin complex  and St Peter's square from the air.  Both sides of the aircraft is visually full until you have crossed right over the city.

Moscow City_ Dep arrival 7.jpg

I am not a fan of the generated 3d OSM scenery, but this is very good in blending in perfectly with the X-Plane default scenery and giving you a smooth transition from country to urban and back again with great realism.

Moscow City_ Dep arrival 14.jpg

Over the city and turning north towards Sheremetyevo, another Moscow airport UUMU Chkalovsky is represented on the turn.

Moscow City_ Dep arrival 17.jpg

The city skyline is now easily visible on landing at Sheremetyevo, and that really helps in the arrival factor, more so in that the cities building infrastructure spread now comes up and around the airport to fill the gaps to the city itself, and making the original  Sheremetyevo scenery that was so open and lonely in the old X-Plane view is now a big part of the whole in this combination. No doubt it really brings this always good scenery now alive and very usable.

Moscow City_ Dep arrival 19.jpg

Sheremetyevo Airport

Before we move on to the city itself. It is important to note the area around UUEE Sheremetyevo itself.

Moscow Sheremetyevo 1.jpg

Compare the large image above to the earlier image at the start of this review to see the amount of change there is around UUEE Sheremetyevo with the addition of this Moscow City package. The two sceneries are of course meant to be used together, and in reality it would look odd if you had Moscow City scenery installed without the Sheremetyevo scenery included to fill out the northern areas. A highlight is that both sceneries together form a single whole, as the areas between the airport and the central city area are well filled in and that gives you a huge area of coverage and the full visual aspect.

To get a closer lower look at the Moscow Center I commandeered Dreamfoil's lovely Bell 407.

Moscow Buildings 1.jpg

There is a 4.000km² total area covered with this scenery here, and you have expect some sort of building replication to cover all that ground. There is of course but as well in the fact there is also enough variations as to not keep it all interesting and not obviously visually obvious.

Moscow Buildings 2.jpg

The closer you go to the central area, the variations in the buildings change there in style and density as well. And then more of the iconic buildings start to appear as you get closer in again to the middle. The business district is excellent, with a lot of business towers and the more modern futuristic skyscraper architecture that stands out in every view point in eye scans across the city.

Moscow Buildings 5.jpg

The more recent is in tune with the more older Stalinist era that makes up the Moscow skyline.

The Kremlin Complex and the Cathedral of Vasily the Blessed (St Basil's) is excellently represented and so is "Red Square"

Moscow Buildings 10.jpg

There are Orthodox churches everywhere and all the big icons in the Moscow Cathedral Mosque, Cathedral of Christ the Savior, Grand Arena of the Central Lenin Stadium, Otkrytive Arena and department stores, museums and power stations and more....

I did have issues with many buildings floating, including the Kremlin. I tried both "Runways follow terrain contours" on and off with no flattening of the objects and there is no information in the manual either on how to fix the problem.

Night lighting is very good, yes there is again a repeatable pattern to the majority of the hundreds of the apartment blocks that does stand out, but the more individual buildings do all have that personal touch and some buildings look really very good.

Moscow Buildings Night 1.jpg

The highlight here is the business district which looks magnificent and is very realistic from any direction at night as is the lit Stadium.

Moscow Buildings Night 3.jpg

Although away from the central area the Ostankino Tower that stands 540.1 metres (1,772 ft) tall, and is the tallest freestanding structure in Europe and it looks great at night and is a very good position indicator from the air from any direction.

Included Moscow Airports

As noted also included in the scenery are seven airports and several helipads.

UUWW Vnukovo

Moscow UUWW Vnukovo 1.jpg

The futuristic Vnukovo International is very good for a lite version, with great terminals and lots of small detailing. Only thing missing is the static aircraft and a bit more ramp equipment, but otherwise it is highly usable.

UUDD Domodedovo

Moscow UUDD Domodedovo 1.jpg

The oldest of Moscow's International airports is Domodedovo. Again it is quite devoid of static aircraft and I am not crazy about the blue terminal glass work, but it is still a very workable scenery to use and has a lot of well made objects.

UUBW Zhukovsky

Moscow UUBW Zhukovsky 1.jpg

Zhukovsky was a major aircraft testing facility since the  cold war years, with most of the major Russian Experimental Design Bureau's having facilities here. It is also now used by the Ministry of Emergency Situations! and cargo carriers. It was also used as a test site for the Soviet Buran  reusable Spacecraft because it has the world's second longest pubic runway at at 5,402 m (17,723 ft). Mostly it is a collection of very large hangars but has a lot of static aircraft in storage.

UUMO Ostafyevo International Business Airport

Moscow UUMo Ostafyevo 1.jpg

A former military airbase. Ostafyevo features a new modern glass terminal, and caters primarily to business aviation.

UUMU Chkalovsky

Moscow UUMU Chkalovsky 1.jpg

Chkalovsky is a military logistics airport that is famous for it's support for the Russian Space program and transport to Star City and the Yuri A. Gagarin State Scientific Research-and-Testing Cosmonaut Training Center. Yuri Gagarin left here on his final flight before crashing by the town of Kirzhach.

UUBM Myachkovo Airport

Moscow UUBM Myachkovo 1.jpg

Myachkovo is a small General Aviation Airport that is owned by the Finpromko company. Cargo aircraft up to the size of the Ilyushin ll-76 freighter can also use the airport.

UUMB Kubinka

Moscow UUMB Kubinka 1.jpg

Kubinka has been a significant Russian military airbase and large airshows are held here to show off the Russian military might.

There is also provided UUU1 Kremlin Airport, within the Kremlin walls, but I couldn't get it to work? There are two pads in H1 and H2.

Your first thoughts after reviewing this excellent Moscow scenery is not with this actual package. You then wish that you could have this extensive scenery at London, Rome, Madrid, Berlin and the list could go on with any of your favorite European Cities, and don't count a load in the Middle East and Asia. But a London scenery like this would certainly be a godsend in our X-Plane world. Drzewiecki Design has already done Warsaw and Manhattan, so there is always hope.

It is not cheap either and you need to add in their UUEE Sheremetyevo scenery package on top of that as well. But you get an awful lot of ground covered here for your money, with the area covered here that is extensive...  huge and flying into Moscow will never be the same again.

A few areas to note in one that in my case a few of the buildings floated, the download is huge load at 1.4gb and this Russian area is not the best for navigation aids and programming FMS units as most waypoints are not recognised. Most of the airports ILS coordinates also have to checked and recalibrated (Drzewiecki Design do provide all the correct coordinates) so there is a little work to do to set up repeat services but the work is worth the results.

Not only is the actual Moscow city and all it's buildings supported, you also get seven (if lite versions) of Moscow's other airports included as well, but the framerate processing of all this huge amount of objects and scale is pretty good to excellent. Framerate does hurt more on a lower (helicopter) level and certainly you need a computer with a little extra power is in no doubt required, but overall for the size of the area the scenery is extremely efficient.

Yes I was impressed by this Moscow City Scenery, as this once very barren area of X-Plane is now a very attractive repeat destination as nothing can give you a greater fulfilment than seeing your destination appear in the distance and then give you a huge visual experience as you fly over and approach your destination.

Moscow City certainly delivers that and more...  Just more sceneries like this please!

Thank you for this very thorough (as always) review. I just bought it (it's on sale) and have only one disappointment so far: Red Square has no ILS or any landing aids at all for that matter. And what a nightmare of an approach! Also I was hoping the package would include an add-on that gives my c172 a big cup holder for my Stoli. Otherwise the scenery is gorgeous. What a country!

10 most popular cars in Russia (PHOTOS)

cruise control toyota aygo x

In Russia, every third resident has their own vehicle. At the beginning of 2021, 45 million passenger cars were registered in the country. Almost a third of these are made by the Russian car company LADA. Toyota is currently the second most popular brand, with over four million cars in the country— the RAV4 and Camry are the most popular models. Next come Hyundai and Kia with over two million cars each in the country.

Compared with the United States and most of Europe, where around two out of three residents have their own vehicle, the car market in Russia is still relatively open and continues to develop. Russia imposes rather large customs duties on imported cars in order to force international car companies to produce their vehicles inside the country. As a result, many foreign car manufactures have localized their production in Russia and in some cases even modified their car models to accommodate Russian road conditions and people's tastes.

Russians prefer low-budget crossovers and sedans. Hatchbacks and station wagons are less common, and small electric cars are generally an unusual sight (there are just 11,000 electric cars in the country, and 9,000 of them are the Nissan Leaf).

"Russians are not interested in hatchbacks because of the lack of association with a high position in society," says Alexey Kozhukhov, an automotive marketing expert. He notes that in the Soviet period, a long Volga sedan was considered a high-class car and a symbol of power, and that these associations have been passed on to subsequent generations.

Manufacturers have created economy-class sedans and SUVs that are specifically catered to the Russian market. According to the Association of European Businesses , in the first half of 2021 around 45% of new cars sold were crossovers.

Best selling cars in Russia in 2021

1. lada granta.

cruise control toyota aygo x

The simplest and cheapest car on the Russian market, the Granta is assembled at the AvtoVAZ plant in Togliatti. Some typical customer reviews state that the car is “reliable and without problems” or that “I didn’t have big illusions and got what I expected.” A sedan without air conditioning costs 560,000 rubles ($7,800), and the LUXE version with a heated windshield, cruise control and an automatic transmission costs 780,000 rubles ($11,000).

2. Lada Vesta

cruise control toyota aygo x

Lada’s latest model, the Vesta, is designed to be a sedan and crossover, although there is also a sports version. The car meets most consumers’ needs but is cheaper than foreign brands. “When I bought it, I understood that it was AvtoVAZ and there might be problems ahead, but the desire to buy this beauty simply prevailed, and I only wanted a new car in this budget,” one Russian driver writes , adding that he didn’t want to buy a used car.

The simplest model with a manual transmission, air conditioning and airbags sells for 795,000 rubles ($11,200), while the most expensive “Sport” version costs 1.2 million rubles ($17,000).

3. Hyundai Creta

cruise control toyota aygo x

This crossover is one of the most inexpensive cars in its class in Russia. Its price ranges from 1.2 million rubles ($17,000) to about 2 million rubles for the top version ($28,000). “Many Creta owners with a 1.6-liter engine complain about the sluggish dynamics. I wasn't looking for a racing car, so the car is fine for me. My priority was AWD, which fully justified itself. Now I can go to nature any time and not worry about getting stuck on a dirt road,” writes one driver from the Urals.

Hyundai also was also the first car manufacturer in Russia to offer online sales directly from the factory without the dealer.

4. Hyundai Solaris

cruise control toyota aygo x

The Solaris is a version of the Accent that was localized specifically for Russia in 2010 and is produced in St. Petersburg. Russian drivers seem quite satisfied with the model, which is a budget sedan that is resistant to temperature changes and harsh weather conditions and is generally reliable. “I wanted to use it for at least five years without looking under the hood,” wrote one driver about why he chose this model.

The Solaris ranges in price from 890,000 rubles ($12,500) to 1.3 million rubles ($18,300) for the top configuration.

5. KIA Rio

cruise control toyota aygo x

The KIA Rio has also been produced in St. Petersburg since 2011, and, like the Solaris, only comes in a sedan model, which is more popular among local customers. The design and technical characteristics of the Russian Rio are slightly different from versions sold in other countries. Many drivers note that it has good heating and the ability to start at minus 30 Celsius. As a result, the car has become one of the best-selling models in the country. It ranges in cost from 950,000 ($13,400) to 1.3 million rubles ($18,300)

6. Volkswagen Polo

cruise control toyota aygo x

All Polo models sold in Europe are hatchbacks, but in Russia Volkswagen opted to modify this legendary model to produce what has become one of the most popular sedans in Russia. “The car is a car. The trunk is huge and comfortable. There is quite a lot of space in the cabin, both in front and behind. The driving is not bad, better than other cars of this class,” writes one owner.

The Polo Sedan is assembled at a factory in Kaluga (about 200 km from Moscow). The cheapest model costs 1 million ($14,100), while the most expensive version goes for 1.9 mln rubles ($26,800).

7. Lada Niva

cruise control toyota aygo x

The first Soviet SUV is still in production and has a loyal customer base for its combination of being extremely cheap and strong for off-road driving. Many Russians use it to get to their remote dachas.

The simplest version costs 660,000 rubles ($9,300). The most expensive version is called the Niva Travel (formerly the Chevrolet Niva), costs 993,000 rubles ($14,000) and is equipped with a snorkel in case the car is overtaken by water in severe road conditions. And there is no automatic transmission! “Its passion is dirt roads, super suspension, it ‘swallows’ holes in the roads, you don't notice irregularities,” wrote a driver from the Amur Region in the Far East. However, customers note that the interior is not particularly comfortable and that the car consumes a lot of fuel.

8. Škoda Rapid PA II

cruise control toyota aygo x

This is another economy class sedan that has won the hearts of many Russian drivers. “The new Rapid is comfortable to drive, there is a lot of automation,” says one owner from St. Petersburg. They go on to write : “Turn the steering wheel and hit the gas, and switch on cruise control on a high-way, and the car will do everything else by itself.”

The Škoda Rapid is assembled at a plant in Kaluga. The simplest version costs 990,000 rubles ($14,000) and already includes a media system with a touch screen and Bluetooth. The most expensive version costs 1.4 million rubles ($19,700).

9. Renault Duster

cruise control toyota aygo x

Renault cars are assembled in Moscow. For a long time, the most popular Renault model was the Logan sedan, but this year the Duster SUV took that title. "Who can imagine a life that is no longer just being in a hurry," one driver jokes about driving the car. "The Duster is a family car. The car is enough to cheerfully stay in traffic" writes another.

The price of the simplest model with a manual transmission starts at 1 million rubles ($14,300), while the most expensive 4x4 version is twice as much.

10. Lada Largus VP

cruise control toyota aygo x

The only wagon model in this list is also produced by the Russian company AvtoVAZ. Largus is a fairly budget car that is popular not only among dacha enthusiasts, but also for commercial purposes. “The main plus is the suspension and stability on the road,” writes a driver from Tyumen (Siberia), “No need to worry about driving the highway on Largus in winter.” All versions are equipped with a manual transmission and cost from 780,000 ($11,000) to 978,000 rubles ($13,700).

Adaptive cruise control + lane keep assist

Hi all, Does anyone of you have experience driving the Toyota ACC together with LKA ? I am imagining my worst driving conditions are in rainy weather, dark, many lights in front of me of traffic

coming towards me and other lights for traffic driving the same direction.. I am getting a wee bit older, still have to go to work on rainy days , but that part of driving tends to get more hard. I heard with other middle aged people and they seem to have the same problem. What I am asking myself now :   Would the Aygo (provided I would let it do that) be good at following f.e. a truck and keeping lane without me directing it ? Or would it struggle in rainy weather too and automatically disengage ? The new Aygo X seems to have a much higher level of self drivability.. If i saw right on test rides it wants you to have both hands on the steering wheel regularly (every x seconds) and is beeping to

urge the driver to do so.. ?

Or an other gadget (Envy and luxury models)  : the heated seats ... Did anybody try them out ? It looks like there is only on and off.. No 'speed' selectable. Do these seats warm up slowly or fast ? Giving a lot of heat or little ?

I only have my Yaris experience as I've not been in an aygox, but the auto-steer is very much an Assist; The ACC and auto-steer are about the level of a nervous learner driver in most conditions and will do a fairly good job of keeping a steady course and a constant speed, but the LKA gets confused easily by e.g. shadows covering the lines or badly painted lines, and the ACC sometimes acts like there is a bar between you and the car and the car in front so even if there is a big gap and the car in front brakes, instead of braking gently and using up the buffer gap, it'll brake much more forcefully than you'd expect. If the car in front speeds off, the ACC will also try to match their acceleration up to the set speed once the gap exceeds what you've told it to follow at, accelerating far too strongly.

It's not a bad system and takes a lot of the tedium and brain fatigue out of boring motorway runs, but it feels like a Version 1 or 1.5. Definitely nowhere near fully autonomous self-driving.

I thought about it that way too :  It will take some time for me to trust the car to drive at a speed of 100+ km / h while I am not controlling but the car is driving. Don't know if i can do that..

An other idea about the pro's and con's for AYGO X ..  Can't start a new topic all the time :  The 18 inch tyres will be expensive. I thought about how much they would cost but I didn't want to know really until the order was signed. Until now, not so many brands make them.  Out here , I can find Falken / Michelin and Semperit. Prices for summer tyres are around 150 euro per tyre.

Size is 175/60/18

I have done it. Simply put you set the cruise control and let the car do its stuff. However, I am not a fan. It can be too easy to be diverted. Also the adaptive part is a pain in the rear end. Annoyingly so. I messed about with cruise control last week on an hour’s journey all motorway. I set the control to 70 mph. If a car overtakes you and pulls in front the system sees it and then brakes. There is usually no point in it braking for the car in front is going faster and is pulling away from you. Also if you have it on and you are slowed down because of a vehicle in front but then turn off the motorway up a slip road, the car sees nothing in front and puts the pedal to the metal. Very disconcerting. I understand that if I hold the button down for some time it will switch off this part of the cruise control and give the basic plain version. I must try it today.

Mojo1010

Interesting to learn about how these tech systems works so I'm prepared for when I get the Yaris next year. The Lane assist will definitely be turn off for me driving in greater London! Pain having to do it on each start up though.

I guess I will only use the ACC when I'm a bit fatigue on the motorway. System could be better in the future, but it's better to have it for scenario where the driver may fall asleep or have a seizure.

I thought the Lane assist radar is one function that can be combined with the active steering system. I doubt there are any other options.

That pretty much sums up the conditions when it would be most useful and is least effective.

If you can't see the lane edges neither can it.

My Yaris Cross has off/low/high and do work quickly.  Curiously there is no automatic cut out though there may be an overheat cutout.

It could be useful to link in blind spot monitoring.

You are driving in lane  behind a slower vehicle, you indicate and the car will accelerate expecting you to change lanes.

Obviously you will check your mirror first.  However if a car was in your blind spot you could move out or see it and forget to cancel your indicator.  The ACC remains overridden.

All is not lost though as collision avoudence will then kick in.

Like

The auto-steer feels a lot like driving in tramlines/lorry ruts in the road - The car will 'pull' in the direction it wants to go, but you can override it fairly easily.

You can disable it without disabling the LTA completely tho', which I often do when driving at sunset/dawn as the long shadows confuse the heck out of it and it beeps constantly as it keeps loosing its 'lock' on the road.

Yeah... 175/60r18 is really a rare size.

I hope some more decent makers will start producing this size.

Can't hope a lot that other car makers will start to make cars with this size of tyres.

If one day only semperit or Michelin would make this type, they would become awfully expensive.

Auto steer with lane assistance will be something like the automatisch parking system.

The one on my auris succes cause it kind of made strange moves to end up parked. The renault was better about that, also parked in spaces that were 90 degrees compared the road. I used it a few times to try it out.. later I noticed too that for every space where I had doubts,  the system didn't want to go in either.
