For those truly epic, once-in-a-lifetime destinations, you want to leave your itinerary to the experts. Whether your dream is to see the Big Five on an African Safari, trek tall mountains, explore European cities, or something even wilder, a group tour is the easiest way to do it.

However, picking the wrong group tour company is the quickest way to ruin your trip. Make sure you choose a tour company that aligns with your goals and travel styles. Do you want an intimate group tour or do you prefer to make lots of new friends in a big group? Does the price line up with what you like (luxury vs. budget)? Is the itinerary going to all the places you want to see?

We’ve done the research and found the very best group travel tour companies for 2023 for every type of traveler.

Best Overall Group Travel: Exodus Travels

Images of nature around the mountains and lakes of Slovenia as seen on the Exodus Travels' Lakes and Mountains of Slovenia walking tour

With trips on every continent, Exodus Travels covers anywhere on this planet that you could possibly want to go, from popular destinations like the Amalfi Coast to well off-the-beaten path adventures like Tajikistan. This award-winning group travel company boasts thousands of repeat customers who sign up for trips year after year (97% of past participants would recommend Exodus Travels to a friend).

These small group tours operate with only around 12-16 people, and always feature experienced local leaders who can give you a unique insight into your destination. Exodus Travels caters to any type of travel style, including trips broken down by type of activity (think walking, cycling, multi-adventure, winter, or cultural) as well as type of traveler (family, age group, etc.). There are curated collections (coastal, “away from it all”, European wilderness, and trips of a lifetime) to inspire you, as well as self-guided options for when you want all the benefits of a group tour planner without the actual group. Looking for that special safari? Exodus Travels just partners with the African Wildlife Foundation to create carefully curated luxury adventures that go above and beyond the standard safari.

Exodus Travels tours work for almost any budget, with options that range from affordable to premium.

Top Trip: Explore under-the-radar Europe by foot on Exodus Travels’ Lakes & Mountains of Slovenia walking tour .

Best Adventure Group Travel: World Expeditions

World Expeditions aims to leave communities and places where they operate tours better than they found them. Trips are created using the company’s Thoughtful Travel Charter as a guideline, which emphasizes respect for the environment, sustainability, having a positive impact on local communities, protecting wildlife, and more.

World Expeditions’ trips are capped at just 16 people to provide a good experience for participants, and there are no single supplements for solo travelers willing to share a room with someone of the same gender.

G Adventures keeps costs down by opting for cheaper hotels and local meals, and making certain activities optional (for an additional cost). Pick your travel style—options range from “basic” to more luxe tours run in partnership with National Geographic. Family tours, local living tours (featuring homestays), and wellness-focused tours are also available.

Top Trip: G Adventures’ China Express trip is a great way to see the highlights of China if you’re short on both time and budget.

Couples & Friends Luxury Tours

A group enjoying a wine tasting on tour with Classic Journeys

Travel with Friends, New or Old

When you set out to plan your vacation, who’s on the short list of people you want exploring with you? Is it your spouse… partner… significant other… or best friend? Maybe it’s a group of friends. Join us. Classic Journeys itineraries feature small groups and authentic experiences. With an average of just 10 guests per departure, our groups can slip discreetly into the smallest village where our local guides know everybody… from vintners to tribal chieftains to truffle hunters. Their friends become yours as you travel through the scenic countryside and historic villages, staying in the region’s most distinctive inns and hotels.

Our Bucket Runneth Over

It’s a funny thing about bucket lists. The theory is that you cross items off until it’s empty and the end is near. Maybe you’re like us and your bucket list never gets shorter. You watch sunrise at Angkor Wat with the monks and then Iceland or Alaska pop up to lure you with the Northern Lights. You check off midnight in the Moroccan Sahara , and suddenly a new need to swim with sea lions in the Galapagos rushes in to fill the vacuum. Or maybe you just want to walk footpaths with iconic names like The Inca Trail in Peru or The Path of the Gods along the Amalfi Coast .

The World is Your Onion

Is there anything more fun than peeling back the layers of a place you visit on vacation? While tourists skim their way from A to B, you like to get under the skin of a culture to truly understand what it’s all about. One of the best ways to unwrap a destination is to really get out into the environment and enjoy it. That might be on one of our multisport trips with a variety of activities offered during the week or ending the day on one of our walking tours with a soak in thermal waterfalls heated by a nearby volcano.

Travel with Whomever, Whenever

Have something specific in mind that you or your people want to see or do? Share it with us. We put the “custom” in custom journeys. Other companies often appropriate the approach created by Henry Ford (“Any color you want as long as it’s black.”) so that you can choose any tour you want as long as it follows their normal itinerary. When you choose Classic Journeys, you can join a published trip date, turn an itinerary you love into a private trip, create a more specialized version of one of our itineraries, or even create a totally unique adventure.

Frequently Asked Questions

Couples + friends tours, what kind of experiences can i expect on a classic journeys itinerary.

At Classic Journeys, we are proud to offer the most culturally rich and authentic walking tours in the world. We explore the world’s most cinematic and inspiring destinations on tours that feature curated walks, handcrafted itineraries, expert local guides, small groups, enchanting accommodations, eating like (& with) the locals, and regenerative travel. Joining us foot at eye level, you’ll get the opportunity to enjoy unbeatable access to experiences with people, cultures and places simply not available to other travelers.

How many guests are typically in a group?

In our small tour group (just 10 -12 guests on average and no more than 18 total), we typically have a mix of solo travelers, couples, and friends or family members traveling together.

Do you offer private trips for couples or groups of friends?

Yes! When you book one of our private tours , every aspect of the trip is tailored to you and your travel companions. That might mean taking over a historic villa for a big family reunion, a once in a lifetime culinary trip for just you and your child, or anything else—your wish is our command. A private walking tour is a lot easier to arrange than you think. Get started with the planning as Our Travel Experience team are experts at making it all seamless and turnkey for you.

What destinations are available for Couples & Friends tours?

Classic Journeys has become known as the world’s finest walking tour company, and  travelers choose us because we have a knack for helping them explore iconic places in new, better and more immersive ways. You can check out all of our trip destinations here .

What activities are available on the tours?

We balance all of our adventures with spectacularly scenic walks and immersive cultural experiences where you can get to know the locals. This includes dining with (and like) the locals, staying in perfectly sited accommodations to easily explore the area, and being in the company of an expert local guide. The daily itinerary for your trip with have more details for you.

Can the activities be adjusted for different fitness levels?

We’re happy to calibrate activities for travelers of all ages and fitness levels. If you or a traveling companion prefers to sit one out, we’ll offer you options for that, too. Just let us know in your pre-trip documents and we will communicate your preferences to your local guide.

What kind of accommodations can I expect?

Your accommodations add to your explorations because of the way they reflect the style and hospitality of a region. Additionally, you’ll spend two or more nights in each location, so you can settle in a bit. Often, each room is unique. After all, it’s hard to create cookie-cutter rooms in converted abbeys, Mediterranean villas, and medieval palaces. If there’s a hotel in the heart of a nature preserve, within view of the Taj Mahal or clinging to the cliffs in Santorini, we’ve got it, so you can enjoy it.

Are the tours physically demanding?

On your walking tour, you’ll spend part of each morning and afternoon with your feet on the ground, getting up close to the region’s culture and natural history. Your walks might include a village tour, a seaside stroll, or a local guide’s favorite path through an oasis, vineyard, or red rock canyon. Walking is one of the best ways to immerse yourself in a local culture. When you’re on foot, the world can’t slide past you faster than you can absorb.

How can I contact Classic Journeys for more information to book my tour?

It’s easy to make a reservation on one of our walking tours. Simply call us toll free at 1-800-200-3887 or click the “book now” button located on the trip page to reserve online. We’ll ask you for a few quick pieces of information and a deposit following our Terms & Conditions.

What is included on a Classic Journeys walking tour?

Included in your walking tour are luxury accommodations with our signature invisible check-in, transportation around your destination, a knowledgeable local guide, entry to attractions, national parks, etc as well as the meals that are indicated on your trip itinerary.

Who will be my tour guide?

There is simply no better way to discover a place than in the company of a well-connected friend. That’s how you’ll feel about the local guides who are your companions every step of the way on every one of our Cultural Walking Adventures. Our expert local guides are there full-time for you, every step of the way. Before departing for your trip, we’ll send you their contact information and a brief bio so you are ready to meet them in-country.

25 Best Vacation Spots for Couples

Planning a romantic getaway? Here are the best couples' vacation spots around the world to visit with your special someone.

Elizabeth Rhodes is a special projects editor at Travel + Leisure , covering everything from luxury hotels to theme parks to must-pack travel products. Originally from South Carolina, Elizabeth moved to New York City from London, where she started her career as a travel blogger and writer.

group travel for couples

One of the best parts of being in a relationship is having a built-in travel buddy — and enjoying uninterrupted one-on-one time as you visit new places together. A trip with your significant other, whether domestic or international, almost always guarantees you'll learn something new about one another — perhaps your girlfriend gets a rush from cliff diving, or your boyfriend can make friends with anyone despite only being able to say one phrase in the local language.

When you're deciding where you want to go, consider which components of a romantic getaway matter most to you. Are you up for sightseeing and doing outdoorsy activities together or do you lean more toward enjoying quiet moments in intimate settings with a view?

For instance, couples looking for a chance to fully unwind might opt for a beach vacation or spa weekend in a beautiful destination, while those searching for a once-in-a-lifetime adventure may want to book an African safari. Foodie couples might want to eat their way through Paris's fine restaurants, while more active travelers may prefer to hit the slopes or go snorkeling at the Great Barrier Reef.

Whatever your travel style, here are 25 of the best vacation spots for couples.

Bali, Indonesia

Daniel Gorostieta/Travel + Leisure

If your version of romance is hiking through monkey forests and rolling rice paddies — or dancing to DJ sets and light shows until the wee hours of the morning — head to Bali, a beautiful Indonesian isle known for its vibrant nightlife scene. Stroll hand-in-hand on white-sanded shores in the southern part of the island or by the volcanic black sand beaches of its northern and eastern coasts. In addition to historic temples and shrines, Bali is also home to heaps of high-end resorts, yoga classes, spas, and Australian-influenced cafes worth checking out during your trip.

Santorini, Greece

Monica Farber / Travel + Leisure

Visiting Santorini is like traveling to a cloud-like oasis that envelops you in an ethereal fantasy. In other words, there's no surprise as to why it's a popular choice among newlyweds looking for a picture-perfect honeymoon destination . The romance of the island pretty much sells itself; wandering the hilly, weathered streets, you'll be surrounded by bright white walls and blue roofs, while in the evenings, you'll have front-row seats to incredible sunsets. Once the sun is down, the island really lights up, with its houses, churches, and restaurants glowing like stars.

Ngorongoro Crater and Serengeti National Park, Tanzania

Ashour Rehana / Getty Images

Aside from traveling to Tanzania to hike Mount Kilimanjaro, many make the trip to see the country's incredible wildlife conservation sites and national parks. Going on a safari allows you and your significant other to share some unique firsts: the first time you see a lion, the first time you drive across the African plains, dotted with baobab trees, or the first time you meet someone from the local Indigenous community, to name a few.

You'll want to visit Ngorongoro Crater , the world's largest inactive and intact volcanic caldera. Its bowl-like shape makes a natural border for the animals, boosting the chances safari goers will be able to spot all of the Big Five — lion, leopard, rhino, elephant, and buffalo — during a tour. Serengeti National Park is another popular safari destination because of the area's mass seasonal migrations of wildebeest and zebra, its large lion population, and the sheer diversity of habitats and animals you'll find here.

Tulum, Mexico

NurPhoto / Getty Images

Two core pillars of many romantic vacations are relaxing in intimate settings and enjoying exciting experiences, and Tulum has plenty of chances for you to do both. Rotate between lounging out on tropical beaches, snorkeling at nearby Xel-Ha Park , swimming in a natural sinkhole (or cenote), and touring ancient Mayan ruins, many of which are still intact. After a perfect day in Tulum , packed with leisure, adventure, or both, the cherry on top will be grabbing a drink at Gitano and relishing in its funky jungle atmosphere.

Whistler, Canada

A great way to bond as a couple is by getting active, and skiing on Whistler and Blackcomb mountains is great for both veteran and beginner skiers alike. Take on the mountains, offering numerous trails of varying intensity, enjoy an overhead view of the snow-capped trees from sprawling gondolas, break for lunch at the mid-mountain lodge, and top off your day with an après ski special at one of the slope-side bars. If one day of skiing leaves you with wobbly legs and your fill of downhill action, there's a lot more going on at the base of the peaks. Whistler Village is a lively, pedestrian-only hub of bars, shops, and restaurants. The little winter wonderland is as charming as the inside of a snow globe, and what's better for a romantic getaway than that?

Cappadocia, Turkey

UIG / Getty Images

For a fairytale vacation, there's nothing more fitting than a landscape dotted with "fairy chimneys," the tall, thin cones topping the many rock sites of Cappadocia. Cave churches, underground cities, and homes carved into the rocks work to create a whimsical aura usually reserved for the fictional realm. Floating high above the rocky terrain in a brightly-designed hot air balloon , you'll feel like characters wandering the pages of a Dr. Seuss book (or like astronauts discovering a civilization on the moon). Either way, the otherworldly experience will have you recapturing your sense of childlike wonder and awe together.

Paris, France

Most clichés became clichés for a reason, and so is the case with Paris' romantic reputation. Looking at pictures of couples in the City of Light, you can practically see the cartoon hearts in their eyes as they embrace in front of the Eiffel Tower. Paris and romance go together like Valentine's Day and chocolate, anniversary dinners and candlelit bistros, marriage proposals and world-famous landmarks… all of which Paris is not-so-coincidentally known for having.

Hakone, Japan

Zhang Yun / Getty Images

While not as romanticized for cherry-blossomed strolls as its neighbor, Kyoto, Hakone is a worthy day trip from Tokyo, offering an intimate escape from city travel in the most relaxing way possible: hot springs resorts . Aside from relaxing in onsen (hot springs) at a traditional ryokan (Japanese inn), you can take advantage of the natural sites, like Lake Ashi and the volcano Mount Fuji , or tour the fire-engine red Hakone Shrine and open-air sculpture museum . The many transportation options , ranging from boats and cable cars to rolling train routes through the mountains, also seem like mini adventures, making yours all the more memorable.

Northern Norway

AFP / Getty Images

If you've ever considered stargazing a romantic experience, northern Norway really ups the ante with its naturally occuring cosmic activity. The region covers about one-third of the country and is considered one of the best places to see the northern lights in Norway . They usually make an appearance from autumn to mid-April, while from late April to mid-August, the sun is still visible late at night thanks to a natural phenomenon known as the " midnight sun ."

Feeling adventurous? Venture even farther north to Svalbard, the northernmost inhabited region of Europe, to experience 24-hour daylight between April and August. On the opposite end of the light spectrum, Svalbard's January and February months have "polar nights," when night lasts for around 24 hours, making the aurora borealis particularly visible.

If you do decide to take this kind of trip together, be warned: Looking up at the stars in your own backyard might not be quite as impressive anymore.

Porto, Portugal

Paula Galindo Valle / Travel + Leisure

Porto is a waterfront merchant city that seemingly transports visitors to an earlier time with its cobblestoned streets, baroque churches, and prevalence of port factories and family-owned businesses. Nearby in the Duoro Valley , you can visit vineyards where wine has been produced for more than 2,000 years, sample it, and participate in harvesting practices such as stomping on the grapes. It's the perfect part of Portugal to spend a day or two , if not longer. In a city infused with the culture of wine making and drinking, you and your significant other can get tipsy on the energy alone.

Amalfi Coast, Italy

Known for its natural and architectural beauty, Italy's Amalfi Coast is a prime choice for a romantic Mediterranean getaway. Travelers can bask in the natural scenery, hike through dreamy seaside villages with picturesque views, and visit famous sites such as the Grotta dello Smeraldo (the " Emerald Grotto "), as well as medieval churches, gardens, and museums. When you need some quiet time for just the two of you, there are a number of secluded hotels offering oceanfront views and luxurious amenities.

Buenos Aires, Argentina

Filippo Bacci / Getty Images

In Argentina's bustling capital, you and your significant other will never run out of activities to try, with lots of live entertainment and a multitude of restaurants and bars. For a day-to-night date, La Boca is a vibrant neighborhood known for Tango dancing and El Caminito, a pedestrian walkway lined with houses and shops painted in bright primary colors — strolling through this vibrant neighborhood is one of our favorite things to do in Buenos Aires .

Whitsunday Islands, Australia

Irjaliina Paavonpera/Travel + Leisure

At the heart of the Great Barrier Reef, these 74 islands off the coast of Queensland, Australia, will have you sailing into uncharted relationship territory with unbelievable sites to discover together. Whitehaven Beach is one of the most popular white-sand beaches in the country — despite it being a tourist hotspot, you've got 4.3 miles to play with, making it easy to stretch out and find your own space.

In addition to enjoying blissful beach days, you can embark on some truly unforgettable and romantic excursions while visiting the islands, such as flying over Heart Reef in a helicopter, staying aboard a boat for a few days, or snorkeling at the legendary Great Barrier Reef.

South Caicos, Turks and Caicos

Design Pics / Helene Cyr / Getty Images

While Turks and Caicos is certainly not a new destination for romantic vacations, most visitors flock to Providenciales, the first major stopping point on the tropical archipelago.

Far less popular (and far more secluded) are the pristine beaches of South Caicos , just a short, scenic connecting flight away. If you're looking for something truly special — perhaps to celebrate an anniversary or another special occasion — Sailrock Resort is a luxury property nestled within natural brush along white-sand shores that lead into crystal-clear water. You'll experience the type of picturesque serenity you thought was only accessible to movie stars, yet there the two of you will be, sipping colorful cocktails together on a hammock at the beach's edge, with nothing but the open, beautiful horizon spanning ahead of you.

No matter how active you decide to be, Barbados is one of the best vacation spots for couples. The island's west coast is home to several high-end resorts with various offerings to make your Caribbean escape extra memorable. Arrange some classic island excursions, such as snorkeling, private boat trips with companies such as Seaduced , or visits to local attractions like the spectacular Hunte's Gardens and Rihanna's childhood home.

For a dose of local cuisine and culture, spend an upbeat Friday night at Oistins fish fry or sample some of the island's best rums on a tour of the Mount Gay rum distillery . You could also kick back and make relaxation your number-one priority by simply enjoying the beautiful beaches and temperate water. For a dinner you won't soon forget, head to The Cliff , which overlooks the water in a sultry, fire-adorned setting.

Dalmatian Coast, Croatia

For the ultimate romantic vacation, charter a boat and sail along the Dalmatian Coast in Croatia. If you start your journey in Dubrovnik and end up in Split, you'll get a comprehensive look at the country, from nautical exploration to sightseeing in both small seaport towns and big cities. With a stopover in a new place every night, the transit is part of the fun, rather than merely a means to get from point A to point B.

Travelers mainly book Turkish gulets (or small yachts) with separate quarters for the crew. Companies like Gulet Yacht Adriatic Holiday offer packages that include the services of a captain, chef, and one or two crew members to help curate not just your route, but everything else you do while you're on the water or shore. While the busy season is typically from June through early September, trips also set out in October and make a great option if you want a bit more quiet and privacy on the Adriatic Sea.

Cotswolds, England

Gavin Guan / Getty Images

Step into a romantic period piece on a vacation in the Cotswolds , located in the picturesque English countryside. The rolling hills and fields are dotted with the most quaint towns you'll ever find — popular stops include Stow-on-the-Wold, Bourton-on-the-Water, and Castle Combe. Grab a pint in a storied pub or tea in a cute cafe after spending the day exploring town after adorable town.

Jackson Hole, Wyoming

Jay Yuan / Getty Images

What could be more romantic than snuggling up by the fire after a day out in the snow? In Jackson Hole , you can enjoy winter sports in a stunning setting just a short distance from Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks . Plus, you can book a stay at a luxurious property like Amangani or the Four Seasons Resort and Residences Jackson Hole for a truly romantic trip — or the Jackson Hole Mountain Resort if you're both skiing or snowboarding enthusiasts.

Charleston, South Carolina

Charleston is often a favorite city among Travel + Leisure readers , and once you visit, it's easy to see why. Dine at delicious restaurants, take a sunset cruise in the harbor (where you may even spot a dolphin or two), and visit one of the nearby beaches. For romantic accommodations, we recommend staying outside the city on Kiawah Island, a little under an hour's drive away, where you'll find The Sanctuary , a beachfront luxury hotel.

Tucson, Scottsdale, and Sedona, Arizona

Looking for a mindful way to connect with your partner? Consider booking a trip to a wellness resort with a spa and classes to deepen your relationship. Miraval Arizona , located in Tucson, has an all-inclusive experience that throws in fitness classes, health and wellness lectures, and spa treatments, among other amenities. The Civana Wellness Resort & Spa near Scottsdale offers a serene escape amid the Sonoran Desert, while Sedona, with its red rocks and mysterious vortexes, is another popular destination among wellness travelers.

Kauai, Hawaii

Find paradise together on a trip to Kauai , Hawaii's Garden Isle. You'll find the best of both worlds, with a beautiful mix of lush jungle landscapes and beautiful beaches. Spend your days alternating between lounging or strolling hand-and-hand along the shores and exploring its natural wonders by foot, boat, or helicopter. Popular romantic resort options include Timbers Kauai in Lihue and Koʻa Kea Hotel & Resort in Poipu Beach.

Napa Valley, California

Akshat Mehta / EyeEm / Getty Images

A romantic jaunt to California's wine country might be the perfect getaway for couples looking for delicious vino, beautiful views, and world-class dining. Spend a few days touring vineyards together and tasting different varietals while gazing out at the rolling, vine-covered hills. You can also opt for a ride on the Napa Valley Wine Train for more scenic views. Retire to one of the many beautiful luxury resorts in the area, such as the Auberge du Soleil , Four Seasons Resort and Residences Napa Valley , or Solage, Auberge Resorts Collection .

Sea Island, Georgia

This Georgia barrier island resort offers secluded, five-star luxury across several styles of accommodations, including The Cloister, located in the heart of the resort, as well as private cottages. In addition to the beach, guests can golf, lounge by the pools, enjoy spa treatments, and participate in other activities like tennis and horseback riding.

New York City

For some couples, taking on a major metropolis is just as romantic as spending a week by the beach. And when it comes to big city destinations in the United States, it's hard to beat New York City . Every night is date night on vacation, so go to dinner and take in a Broadway show, enjoy extended evening hours at some of the world's best museums, visit acclaimed restaurants and cocktail bars, and stroll through Central Park to soak in the sights and sounds of the Big Apple.

Palm Springs, California

Escape to the desert with a trip to Palm Springs, surrounded by picturesque mountains and lined with palm trees. Plan your visit in the spring, fall, or winter to avoid the intense summer heat, and admire mid-century modern architecture as you hit the links or head to the spa. The Ritz-Carlton, Rancho Mirage is a luxe pick for a pool with a view, while the Parker Palm Springs is another trendy choice.

1. Classic Kerala, Wild Frontiers

Wild Frontiers are best known for adventure tours that take travellers to corners of the world not on the average holiday-maker’s radar. Their Kerala itinerary is a more sedate affair, perfect for couples looking to get under the skin of the state on the west coast of India at a leisurely pace. Over the course of ten days, you’ll drift on a bamboo raft through a nature reserve, have a picnic overlooking hills carpeted in tea plantations, cruise on a houseboat through the Keralan backwaters and finish on the beach. There’s also time for a cooking class, market visits and a dance performance en route. Comfortable accommodation, guides, entrance fees, meals and transport (but not flights) are included.

This nine-day Tanzania itinerary from andBeyond ups the ante even further, including Arusha, Lake Manyara, the Ngorongoro Crater and the Serengeti. Flights, meals, accommodation and cold-weather clothing are included. Any activities are purchased as add-ons. These include husky-sledding, cross-country skiing and — our favourite — a snowshoe walk in search of the northern lights, with a wilderness dinner cooked over the campfire.

I took my spouse on a group tour; here’s what it was really like

Megan and Sam in Dubrovnik

When I pitched the idea of doing a group sailing adventure in Croatia to my husband, it took under 5 seconds to convince him to join.

He nearly jumped out of his seat in excitement and asked when we were leaving. Normally an introvert, I was a little surprised how enthusiastic he was to embark on an 8-day trip with a bunch of other people. But turns out we were both equally excited for the opportunity to meet new people and explore a new country together!

I have done a few Intrepid Travel trips in the past — from Cuba to the Middle East  — but I always did them when I was traveling solo, without my husband. In lieu of go-to travel buddy (who doesn’t get as much time off as I do), I always did group trips alone, as they helped make me feel comfortable and safe traveling on my own.

Making new friends…together!

I don’t know about you, but I find that making friends as an adult is super hard. You might meet people through work or through hobbies, but building relationships can be a challenge and takes a lot of time. Thankfully on group trips like Intrepid Travel’s, it is easier to develop fast friendships with your fellow travelers and it is all the more fun when you can share those relationships with your spouse.

CHECK OUT INTREPID’S TRAVEL’S RANGE OF CROATIA TRIPS

I was happy to have a tight-knit and friendly group of travelers during my 8-day sailing adventure in Croatia. There were other Americans like myself as well as a woman from Russia and a couple from New Zealand. I genuinely had a great time with my group, especially during our lively group dinner conversations and early morning coffees on the deck of the boat.

My husband gravitated towards certain members of the group while I gravitated towards others and it was rewarding to watch each of us develop new friendships. It’s not often that couples get to share memories AND friendships at the same time!

Balancing alone time and group time

One of the perks of doing a group travel experience with Intrepid Travel is that you are surrounded by other people throughout your travel adventures. When you travel with your spouse, you might prefer a little bit more couple time than group time but it’s important to stay engaged with your group.

For my husband and I, we loved all the group time in the morning and at night, choosing to venture off on our own most afternoons when we arrived at a new port. That way, we could get the fun feeling of traveling and discovering together, but still felt completely connected to our group. It was a great balance and provided lots of new things to talk about over dinner when we reunited with our fellow group members.

Together in Split

When doing a group trip with your spouse, it’s all about finding a balance that works for you and your relationship. Some people are comfortable being surrounded by new people and don’t need much alone time, while other couples might spend an extra day or two at the beginning or end of their trip for some quality alone time. Remember that you’ll typically have your own room on your group trip which is conducive to alone time, but if you’re doing a sailing adventure like us, that might mean close quarters!

Easily meshing two travel styles

Relationships are all about meshing two people, and their unique idiosyncrasies, together to create a cohesive, well-balanced team; but in that meshing, some qualities don’t always harmonize. Maybe you have different morning routines or maybe you have two different travel styles—I reference both of those because those are qualities that me and my husband don’t always mesh on!

When it comes to travel, my husband and I work together pretty well, but I tend to pack my days full of activities while he prefers a bit more relaxation. I love taking photos and could wander around for hours, while he loves checking out museums and experiencing the local history. We make this work by incorporating both of our interests into our itineraries when we plan our own vacations, but on a group trip, it’s even easier for both of us to do what we want because you have fellow travel buddies who might share the same interests.

Intrepid Travel’s flexible itineraries make it easy for both of you to get what you want! If there was something that he was really interested in (but I wanted to sit it out), there was good chance that another group member would be interested in joining him too.

Being reminded of everything that is awesome about your spouse

My husband and I have been together for nearly 12 years and know just about everything—what stresses one another out, what we love, how we will react to something—we can about one another. There aren’t that many surprises to discover about one another and when you’ve been with a person a long time, it is common to overlook all the things about your spouse that you initially fell in love with. Whether its their sense of humor or sharp intellect, you become so accustomed to their qualities that you almost forget to notice them.

Group trips shake up that balance and remind you of all the awesome things about your spouse! One of my favorite parts of our Intrepid Travel Croatia Sailing Adventure was that I got to see all my husband’s amazing characteristics through a new lens. Witnessing your spouse introduce themselves or talk about your relationship to other travelers gives you a renewed perspective and appreciation for all the things that drew you to them in the first place.

Sam in Split

I was reminded that my husband is an extroverted introvert whose natural curiosity shines when he meets new people. He is funny, smart, and caring – characteristics that other people pick up right away. It felt so nice to have my fellow travelers compliment us and our relationship.

Would I do a group trip with my spouse again?

Absolutely 100% yes! We had a blast traveling together in Croatia and loved the opportunity to experience such an amazing destination with other people who love traveling as much as we do.

We were surrounded by kind, thoughtful travelers who enjoyed the experience of traveling as a group. For us, this made the experience all the more rewarding.

Italian Holiday (7 Days)

The ease of travel, opportunity to see different cities and a mind blowing amount of top tourist sites makes this guided tour a great option. There's one major miss on the trip...food and wine. When you think of Italy, you think of great pasta and wine, but the options included were lack luster. If the travel guide would provide details on the selected options it would have driven us to find alternative eats and drinks.

I had the best experience with Sicily Activities. The tour was super fun and I don’t think I would have experienced everything without being in this tour. The tour guides were so friendly, especially Orozio, Antonio and Stefania. It was worth every penny, a trip I will remember forever ❤️

Local Living Italy—Amalfi Coast

The accommodations were in great locations allowing quick access to sightseeing. The food included at the St.Alfonso agrotourismo was delicious. The whole tour was very well planned out. No time was wasted and the mix between activities and relaxation was perfect. The guide Stefano did an amazing job and made sure everyone had a great time!!

Local Living Italy—Sorrento Tour

Local Living Italy—Sorrento

I was a wonderful tour. We had a guided Tour in Naples, Pompei and a wonderful hike, garnished with interessting facts about history and the people living there. The family at the lemon farm was great and the food provided was really yummy. Luigi gave us a little tour around the property andbecame my personal hero, when he demonstrated how to make limoncello. Chiara was a very helpful and lovely guide. We already miss her :-)

Small Group Tour of Sicily: Highlights (Maximum 8 Guests)

Sicily I amazing. Sicily Activities gave us an excellent tour. It was very personalized, particularly taking into account the needs of our 82 year old mom. The pace was slow as she needed it to be. They even rented an electric wheelchair for her, at no extra cost and the guides helped us carry it. We loved the overall experience.

Discover Italy end Milan Tour

Discover Italy end Milan

When we first arrived and all the list and instructions were in Spanish, I began to worry that I had ruined our family vacation. But to my surprise Claudia came to the rescue. She made sure that she gave the tour in Spanish and English for the small group of us in the group. And towards the end she went out of her way to get the English group their own guide. I believe that saved our whole vacation. So thanks Claudia.

Best of Italy (Summer, 13 Days) Tour

Best of Italy (Summer, 13 Days)

First of all Trafalgar should have known that on Wednesdays the Pope is in audience so disappointed the people on our tour that we did not get to see the Basilica. The tour guide told us that they only learned that that morning which is not true. It has always been Wednesdays for years now. Very disappointing. So the people who go on the tour starting on another day get to see the Basilica and we are paying the same money. One of the main reason people go to Rome. VERY DISAPPOINTING. When people complained the guide told us that we could go and line up in the afternoon and hope to get in after a couple hours when he knew that meant we would miss the afternoon tour. The day could have been arranged differently so that the Rome tour ended at the Basilica and not started there. Secondly the Lake Como optional cruise was very disappointing as we did not get to see all the famous villas e.g. George Clooney, Richard Branson etc. as our tour guide pointed to an area and told us that it was around the corner in the distance. It would have taken 5 minutes to take us there. The optional cruise around Capri Island was another disappointment as you saw nothing more than what you see coming in on the Ferry. These optional tours are extremely expensive for what you get from them. The meals were very repetitive, pasta, pasta, and more pasta. Some of the hotels were very second rate. I had to ask to change rooms twice. A/C not working at night in the summer, showers with doors that did not fit and bathroom flooded after taking a shower. Enjoyed the itinerary although very rushed and having to get up at 6.00 am everyday but very disappointed in the three expensive optional tours above that we did not get what we paid for. Great bus driver and tour guide. Would I recommend this trip, maybe with a higher rated tour company.

Long days and lots of walking. This tour should be rated as difficult. Too much free time. Would have preferred to arrive earlier at our accommodation and have dinner at an earlier time, rather than 8pm at night. The guide could have been more engaging.

I'd give 6 stars if I could ! It was a trip of a lifetime..we were so excited about the iconic sights we saw and had forgotten about other wonderful events and locations; as the tour around Capri; the inside Venice tour etc. The driving was excellent and the tour guide Elena was wonderful....we will cherish the memory forever !!

Your Guide to a Romantic Ibiza Vacation

Local laws may restrict service availability to all. See the Equality Index for more information.

Ibiza's whitewashed buildings earned the Balearic island the nickname "Isla Blanca," but since the 1970s, the Spanish beauty has been known more for its bohemian culture and nonstop parties. A highlight of an Ibiza trip, superstar DJs like David Guetta hold court at clubs in summer while party boats blaring what's been dubbed "Balearic Beats" cruise the coast. But when planning a romantic Ibiza vacation, whether that be an anniversary trip or honeymoon, couples can take their pick of seaside hotels and villas that are in the heart of the action—or far from it.

The island's "live-and-let-live" attitude makes it a welcoming place for everyone, with gay beaches like Es Cavallet and LGBTQIA+ areas, family-friendly water parks and activities and cultural and natural attractions catering to active travelers who want to do more than bask on a beach. An easy flight from most major European cities, Ibiza is a wonderful choice for a couple's vacation in the Mediterranean with sunsets that would give Santorini's a run for their money, snorkeling that could rival the Maldives, and farm-fresh cuisine and seafood served in the most picturesque of settings.

When planning your Ibiza honeymoon or vacation, we're here to help with expert tips on everything from the best places to stay, what to see and do and the best times to visit this bohemian paradise—considered one of the best island vacations in the world for romance . And if you're planning on getting married in Spain, here's everything to know before saying, "I do."

Ibiza Vacation Tips in this Article:

The Best Times to Travel to Ibiza

Ibiza travel tips, places to visit in ibiza, the best ibiza resorts and hotels, things to do in ibiza, what to pack for an ibiza vacation.

Aerial view of Ibiza town

May to September is when you'll experience the best weather in Ibiza, but the shoulder months of April and October (when closing parties take place) can also be exceptionally nice—and less crowded. The island is in full party mode in July and August, when it's peak summer, and it quiets down in winter as restaurants and bars shut for the season. If you want to snag a better deal and enjoy the island's natural beauty, winter is a great time for couples to visit Ibiza. Best weather: May to September.

Festival highlights: Events take place throughout the year, some of the highlights being the Mardi Gras-like Carnival in February; Festa de Maig, Santa Eulalia, a spring celebration with fireworks and a parade in May; the Medieval Fair the second weekend of May in historic Dalt Vila in Ibiza Town; and Ibiza Rocks , a summer-long series of events like poolside sessions and open-air concerts from big-name acts.

With options ranging from high-end resorts and all-inclusives to luxury villas, hilltop fincas and contemporary, whitewashed cube-shaped homes with infinity pools, couples have plenty of places to choose from when planning a trip to Ibiza. If you prefer a quiet escape away from the all-day, all-night parties, book a B&B or agroturismo designed for rest and relaxation.

Days can be spent on or by the water, cycling or strolling through the countryside or on the coast, or soaking up the island's rich culture in the form of traditional dances or heritage sites like Dalt Vila, the UNESCO-protected fortified old town that dates back nearly 2,500 years.

Most places accept credit cards, but you'll want to carry some cash (currency here is the Euro) for markets and the occasional restaurant or bar that doesn't take cards. The destination is a seasonal one, so you'll find the most action in terms of events, parties and attractions in the summer months. Before settling on a date for your trip, here are a few other things to keep in mind. Entry requirements: A US passport that will still be valid three months after entry.

Language: Spanish and Catalan.

Location: Spain's Balearic Islands.

Currency: Euro.

Flight time to destination: A little over an hour from Barcelona or Madrid, or around two hours from most major European cities.

Getting around: While there is a bus system on the island, taxi or water taxi is the easiest way to get around if you don't rent a car. Pro tip: Browse travel agents near you on The Knot Vendor Marketplace for Ibiza vacation expertise, reviews, testimonials and more.

Aerial photo of Sant Antoni de Portmany, Ibiza

Ibiza Town (Eivissa)

The largest city on the island is also one of Europe's oldest, dating back 2,500 years. The beating heart of Ibiza, the port city is where you'll find some of the best restaurants, bars and nightlife, including world-famous nightclub Pacha .

Sant Antoni de Portmany (San Antonio)

San Antonio is a favorite for its sunset bars, which include legendary Café del Mar . The party spills out along the bay, where you can set off parasailing or jet skiing, or hop on a ferry to nearby beaches like Cala Bassa and Cala Conta.

On the northern end of Ibiza, Portinatx is home to three beaches that are more suitable for swimming than other parts of the island. Since it's about a 40-minute drive to the heart of the island's nightlife, this village is more popular with couples who want to soak up nature on hikes throughout the hillside or set off on snorkel trips.

Playa d'en Bossa

Home to the longest beach on the island, lined with chic bars and restaurants, Playa d'en Bossa is also a clubbing destination thanks to two superclubs: Ushuaïa and Hï Ibiza .

Santa Eulalia

For couples craving a low-key locale, Santa Eulalia is the place. Considered the island's gastronomic and cultural core, you'll be surrounded by a mix of wonderful restaurants, art galleries, spas and laid-back bars with live music.

Ibiza offers a wide range of options for couples, from adults-only all-inclusive resorts and luxurious five-star hotels to countryside villas and holiday rentals. Many hotels even offer Ibiza honeymoon packages with romantic meals and spa treatments. Here's a breakdown of the best hotels in Ibiza for a honeymoon perfect for couples of all budgets and styles.

Six Senses Ibiza resort

Six Senses Ibiza

Located on the secluded Cala Xarraca, curl up in one of the 137 accommodations (which include mansions, pool suites and beachfront caves) at Six Senses Ibiza , a holistic haven known for world-class wellness offerings and farm-fresh cuisine served up by superstar chefs. Start your morning with a sun salutation on the private deck or take a paddle board and explore the surrounding bay. Grab bikes and cycle through trails running through the pine forest or the nearby sleepy artisan towns. For a reset, you can't get much better than Six Senses Ibiza, whose outdoor massage catacombs sit near the gardens where the spa botanicals are grown. And when you're ready to let loose, no need to even leave the resort—cozy up on the bedouin-like blankets on the rocks by the sea and listen to the music streaming from cocktail bar and restaurant The Beach Caves .

4.0 Star Rating | Read Reviews

The Standard Ibiza

Stay in the center of the old town at The Standard in Eivissa, whose 53 rooms and suites sit steps from the marina. A few perks: one of Ibiza's only seasonal rooftop pools shows off stunning shots of the castle; the private villa-like Casa Privada sports its own rooftop pool and bar (plus there's a yoga studio and private lounge); and the hotel can arrange exclusive experiences like wine and cheese tastings and hot air balloon rides.

4.5 Star Rating | Read Reviews

Agroturismo Can Sastre is a more intimate option for honeymooners, featuring just three casitas and two villa suites. Located in a more rural stretch of the island, near Santa Gertrudis, the restored finca is encased by orange and olive trees and serves up a menu inspired by the surrounding local products. Think of this as your own little rustic countryside getaway that's sure to help you feel rejuvenated after all the wedding stress.

5.0 Star Rating | Read Reviews

Grand Palladium Palace Ibiza Resort & Spa

The newly renovated five-star all-inclusive resort is conveniently located on Playa d'en Bossa overlooking a nature reserve and salt lake. Expect tons of amenities, from multiple restaurants and pool bars to live music, theater shows and activities like archery and lawn bowling.

Nobu Hotel Ibiza Bay

Watch the sunset with your other half without having to get out of bed at Nobu Hotel Ibiza Bay , which sprawls along Talamanca Bay, within a short stroll of Marina Botafoch and the old town. Floor-to-ceiling windows frame views of the waves, which you can admire from your private terrace or beach promenade right outside the hotel doors.

From hidden coves and beaches to snorkel trips, hikes and seaside concerts—plus Ibiza tourist attractions like markets and heritage sites—couples will find plenty of things to do on their honeymoon or vacation in Ibiza.

Vacation Hiker looks out at beautiful sea view in Ibiza

Eat Your Way Through Ibiza Town

Get your bearings—and a crash course on the island's food culture—on a small-group tour through Ibiza Town's food halls and Michelin-worthy spots, where you'll sample everything from traditional tapas to local ice cream and the island's sobrasada cured sausage, made with ground pork and paprika.

Shop at a Hippie Market

In Ibiza, markets are an all-day affair with live music, tapas stands and bars, and evening DJ sets. Two that should be on your radar: Las Dalias in Sant Carles , in the north, where more than 200 stalls set up in the gardens on Saturdays selling everything from jewelry to handmade clothing and artisanal items, and Punta Arabí, on the east coast in Es Canar, which is the largest market on the island and features a multicultural tent with live music and performances.

Set Off on a Snorkel and Sunset Cruise

Swim through hidden coves and sea caves along the coast on a half-day private cruise to beaches like Cala Conta and Cala Saladeta before watching the sunset over the water.

Take Part in a Cacao or Sunset Ceremony

Embrace the island's hippie side with a shamanic cacao ceremony or cleansing sunset ceremony offered at hotels like Six Senses Ibiza that are symbolic ways to start or end a special trip together.

Spend the Day on Sister Island Formentera

The smallest of Spain's Balearic Islands, Formentera's beaches are considered some of the most beautiful. Hop on a luxury catamaran and cruise over for a day of snorkeling and paddle boarding, anchoring at some of the island's best beaches.

Hike to Atlantis

Sa Pedrera de Cala d'Hort, also known as Atlantis, is a secret that locals won't give up easily, but it's one worth seeking out. The former sandstone quarry-turned-hippie hideaway shows off sweeping views of the rugged coastline with its natural, emerald-colored pools and otherworldly rock formations. On the way, stop at the Torre des Savinar, or Pirate's Tower, for views of the mythical island Es Vedrá.

Cycle Past Flamingos at Salinas Natural Park

From Playa d'en Bossa, set off on a bike tour to see the salt ponds and wildlife like flamingos in Salinas Natural Park, where you'll come across a 16th-century watchtower with sweeping views over Formentera and Es Freus, plus a fantastic sunset viewpoint from the tiny Sant Francesc de S'Estany church.

The beauty of the Mediterranean is that the weather is pleasant year-round, so winters are never too chilly. The island is a casual one—think boho-chic and comfortable. Layers are key—especially if it's windy—so pack breezy dresses, linen separates, swimsuits and coverups, sandals (a nicer pair and one that can handle rugged coastlines and sand), and a pair of wedges or espadrilles for nights when you want to get dressed up. Sunscreen, a floppy straw hat and a beach tote are musts. Don't worry if you forget something—the island has fantastic shopping, so you can stock up on everything from designer names to hippie market finds.

Head to St. Augustine if you and your soul mate appreciate history. Start your visit exploring Ponce de Leon's Fountain of Youth Archaeological Park, where you and your significant other can drink from the mythical spring early settlers believed had anti-aging properties. Then, spend some time at the aptly named Old Jail before visiting the town's famous Castillo de San Marcos National Monument. Round out your trip by signing up for one of St. Augustine's spooky ghost tours .

If you and your beau would rather explore at your own pace, plan a leisurely stroll up and down St. George Street. This downtown, pedestrian-only thoroughfare is lined with old-world structures that house boutique shops, eateries and art galleries, including local favorites like Whetstone Chocolates and the Spanish Bakery & Café. Later, you'll have the chance to fall in love all over again on a romantic sunset cruise , amid a horse-drawn carriage ride or after climbing to the top of the St. Augustine Lighthouse.

Where to stay: After a day of sightseeing, share a bottle of wine and gourmet international cuisine at lovebird-approved restaurants like Collage and Michael's before retreating to one of several enchanting properties located within the town center. The Collector Luxury Inn & Gardens boasts impeccable service, beautiful grounds, and well-appointed rooms and suites, which feature charming details like fireplaces, coquina walls and rain showers; verandas are also offered in select suites.

Meanwhile, the Casa Monica Resort & Spa , an Autograph Collection property, appeals to couples in search of old-world charm, spacious accommodations and an exclusive atmosphere (thanks in part to the pool cabanas and private beach club).

Bungalows Key Largo: Key Largo

Florida resorts

Courtesy of Bungalows Key Largo

Located on the sun-kissed island of Key Largo, around 70 miles south of Miami, Bungalows Key Largo appeals to couples in search of an adults-only, all-inclusive escape . One of few all-inclusive resorts in Florida, the resort offers luxuries spanning an in-town courtesy car to complimentary valet parking, along with amenities such as free cruiser bikes and daily yoga sessions. While here, go for a dip in one of two outdoor pools, relax on 1,000 feet of private beach, or get out on the water in one of the resort's kayaks or paddleboards. For an additional cost, lovebirds can even pamper themselves with decadent treatments like a bamboo massage or mineral bath at the resort's on-site spa.

For dinner, enjoy coastal Mexican cuisine with your beau underneath a bevy of palm trees at the beachfront Sea Señor restaurant, then grab a cocktail under the Sunset Tiki Bar's thatched roof. When you're ready to bed down, you'll get to kick back in an exclusive bungalow that comes with a pillow-top mattress, rain shower and private veranda with a soaking tub. All bungalows feature garden or ocean views, but for a separate sitting area with a sofa bed, opt for the King Bungalow. For additional romantic perks, Bungalows Key Largo offers vacation packages for special occasions ranging from honeymoons and babymoons to engagement and elopement celebrations. With the popular "Romance Package," couples will receive extras like chocolate-covered strawberries, a bottle of sparkling wine and rose petals upon arrival.

Little Palm Island Resort & Spa: Little Torch Key

group travel for couples

Courtesy of Little Palm Island Resort & Spa

Twosomes who crave peace and quiet will love visiting Little Palm Island Resort & Spa , a Noble House property. Located roughly 25 miles northeast of Key West on Little Torch Key, this adults-only property is solely accessible by seaplane or boat. Inside all of the British West Indies-inspired bungalow suites, visitors will discover details like vaulted ceilings, private decks and indoor-outdoor showers. Dial up the romance even further by adding on a turndown package that includes perks like a bottle of Champagne, a drawn bath for two and chocolate-covered strawberries. But while the resort is certainly laden with luxury, what makes Little Palm Island's suites ideal for couples is what they lack: Guests won't find TVs or telephones inside the accommodations, an intentional move by the resort to help travelers disconnect from everyday stress.

When you're ready to venture outside your digs, you can arrange off-site fishing excursions, scuba diving outings and more through the concierge or take advantage of the resort's countless amenities. The on-site spa offers a variety of treatments, including couples massages and an aromatherapy bath, while the beach is the place to go for activities like paddleboarding and kayaking. The outdoor pool also features front-row views of the ocean, lounge chairs, and a bar that serves tropical cocktails and casual bites. For more substantial meals showcasing fresh seafood, grab a bite to eat in the resort's dining room. Enhance the mood even further by arranging a private dinner on the beach at sunset.

The Don CeSar: St. Pete Beach

Romantic getaways Florida

Courtesy of The Don CeSar

Opened in the late 1920s as a tribute to real estate scion Thomas Rowe's lost love, The Don CeSar regularly welcomes vacationing couples to St. Pete Beach, a community just west of St. Petersburg . Upon entering the "Pink Palace," you and your sweetheart will feel as if you've stepped back in time thanks to the property's old-Florida details, such as retro tile floors, wicker furnishings and palm leaf print. This Roaring '20s vibe is especially apparent in the lobby bar, which plays live jazz music and serves a selection of sophisticated cocktails and small plates. For a more romantic setting, grab a sweet treat at the ice cream parlor before enjoying a sunset, or cuddle by one of The Rowe Bar's outdoor fire pits. Maritana, the main restaurant, is the place to go if your ideal date night involves dressing up and savoring gourmet seafood.

Later, you can go for a dip in one of two heated outdoor pools, pamper yourselves at the full-service spa or borrow loaner bicycles to check out nearby attractions like Fort De Soto Park, a 1,136-acre park that sits a little more than 5 miles south of the property. When it's time to bed down, you and your partner will enjoy charming digs decorated with blush-pink tones and beds dressed in plush linens. Some previous guests said basic rooms are small, so for more elbow room, reserve one of the hotel's penthouses, whose two-story layouts come with kitchenettes and furnished balconies.

In this ritzy seaside community just east of Miami, you'll discover miles of gorgeous sand and boulevards lined with upscale shops. Begin your vacation sunbathing at Lummus Park, or head north to Haulover Park for some fun in the sun sans clothing. If you and your partner would rather get out on the water than gaze at it from the shore, you can sign up for a private sailing charter ; take to the skies on a parasailing trip ; or rent water sports equipment like paddleboards, Jet Skis and powerboats through a reputable outfitter like Miami Tours & Water Adventures.

After soaking up some rays, get a dose of contemporary art at The Bass – a top Miami-area museum – then explore the lush Miami Beach Botanical Garden or admire the incredible structures that constitute the Art Deco Historic District on a guided tour. If your stomachs start to grumble, sit down for an Italian-inspired meal in Casa Tua's garden; the tropical plants, hanging lanterns and candles will help set the mood. Another top dining option involves savoring plates of salmon tartare, wagyu beef gyoza or truffle risotto at the rooftop restaurant Juvia.

Where to stay: In the evening, hang your hats at Fontainebleau Miami Beach , one of the best hotels in the city. If you’re looking to travel with a group, however, it can be a little tricky to figure out how to go about it. Here are a few tips to help you out.

The first thing you need to do is find a group that’s right for you. There are a lot of different ways to do this, but the most common is to go online. There are a lot of different websites and forums where people post about trips they’re planning and looking for others to join them. This can be a great way to find people who have the same interests as you, and who you may be compatible with.

If you don’t want to go online, or if you’re looking for a more specific type of group, you can also try looking for groups in your area. There are usually a lot of different groups like this, and it can be a great way to meet new people.

Once you’ve found a group, the next step is to get in touch with them. This can be a little tricky, since you want to make sure you’re not imposing on them, but it’s usually pretty easy to do. Most groups have websites or social media pages where you can find out how to get in touch with them.

Once you’ve made contact, the next step is to start planning your trip. This can be a lot of fun, and it’s a great way to get to know your new travel companions. Make sure to discuss things like budget, travel dates, and what you want to do while you’re there.

Traveling with a group can be a lot of fun, and it’s a great way to make new friends. By following these tips, you can make sure that your trip goes smoothly.

How can I find other couples to travel with?

When it comes to travel, there’s nothing quite like sharing the experience with someone else. And when that someone is your spouse or partner, the memories are all the more special. If you’re looking for ways to find other couples to travel with, you’ve come to the right place.

One great way to find travel companions is to join a travel group. There are all sorts of groups out there catering to different types of travelers. You can find groups for solo travelers, couples, families, and even pet owners.

Another option is to use a travel site or app that connects people with similar interests. These sites and apps let you search for travelers who are looking for a companion to join them on their trip.

Finally, don’t forget about your social media networks. There’s a good chance that you have friends or acquaintances who love to travel. Ask them if they know of any couples or groups who are planning a trip in the near future.

No matter how you go about it, finding other couples to travel with can be a lot of fun. So get out there and start planning your next adventure!

How do you plan a group trip for couples?

Planning a group trip for couples can be a daunting task, but with careful planning and some organization, it can be a fun and stress-free experience for everyone involved. Here are a few tips to help get you started:

1. Decide on a destination.

This is probably the most important step in planning a group trip for couples. You’ll need to choose a destination that everyone is interested in, and that has enough activities and attractions to keep everyone entertained.

2. Set a budget.

It’s important to set a budget for your group trip and make sure everyone is on board with it. This will help keep costs down and ensure that everyone can afford to participate.

3. Make a schedule.

When planning a group trip for couples, it’s important to create a schedule so that everyone knows what’s happening when. This will help avoid any confusion or last-minute changes.

4. Book accommodations and transportation.

Once you’ve chosen a destination and set a budget, it’s time to book accommodations and transportation. This can be a daunting task, but by using the internet and travel agents, you can usually find good deals on both.

5. Plan activities.

Finally, it’s important to plan some activities for your group trip. This can include everything from sightseeing to hiking to dining out. By planning ahead, you can ensure that everyone has a good time.

Is it cheaper to travel in a group?

Whether you’re travelling for leisure or for business, it’s always a good idea to try and save money where you can. One way of doing this is to travel in a group, as this can often work out cheaper than travelling solo.

There are a few things to consider when deciding whether travelling in a group is the best option for you. Firstly, you need to think about the cost of travelling as a group. This will depend on the size of the group and the type of transport you’re using. For example, travelling by bus or train is often cheaper than flying, so if you’re travelling with a large group, it’s worth considering taking this mode of transport.

Another thing to think about is the cost of accommodation. If you’re sharing a hotel room or villa, this can work out cheaper than booked individual rooms. However, it’s worth bearing in mind that you may not always be able to find accommodation that can accommodate a large group.

Another cost-saving tip is to organise group meals. This can be a great way to save money on food, and it can also be a lot of fun to eat together as a group.

So, is travelling in a group cheaper? In most cases, the answer is yes. If you’re able to find a group of travellers with whom you share similar interests, travelling as a group can be a great way to save money and have some fun too.

What is a travel buddy?

A travel buddy is someone you can rely on when you’re traveling. They can provide company, help with planning, and serve as a second set of eyes when you’re out and about. Having a travel buddy can make your trip more enjoyable and less stressful.

There are a few things to consider when choosing a travel buddy. First, make sure you have compatible travel styles. If you like to explore every inch of a destination, you’ll likely clash with someone who prefers to stick to a strict plan. Similarly, if you’re looking for a relaxing vacation, you might not be happy with someone who wants to go on adventure hikes every day.

It’s also important to consider your budget. If you’re on a tight budget, you’ll want to find someone who is as well. If one person is a tightwad while the other is a big spender, there will likely be conflict.

Another thing to consider is your communication style. Do you like to talk things through or do you prefer to have silence while you’re traveling? If you’re the type of person who likes to chat all the time, you’ll likely get along well with someone who is the same. If you’re more introverted, you may prefer to travel with someone who is okay with silence.

Finally, make sure you’re compatible with your travel buddy’s lifestyle. If they like to go out drinking every night, you may not be a good match. If they’re a non-smoker, you’ll also want to steer clear if you’re a smoker.

Choosing a travel buddy can be a difficult task, but it’s important to find someone you can trust. If you do your research and take the time to find someone who is compatible with you, your trip will be much more enjoyable.

Does AARP have travel groups?

AARP, the American Association of Retired Persons, is a membership organization for those over the age of 50. It offers its members a wide range of benefits, including travel discounts.

AARP does have travel groups, and its members can take advantage of discounts on airfare, hotels, and car rentals. In addition, AARP offers travel insurance and trip cancellation insurance.

One of the advantages of being an AARP member is that you can join one of the organization’s travel groups. There are several different groups to choose from, including groups for those who want to travel internationally and groups for those who want to stay within the United States.

AARP also offers travel insurance and trip cancellation insurance. This insurance can be helpful if something comes up and you have to cancel your trip. It can also be helpful if you experience problems while you are on your trip.

So, if you are a member of AARP, be sure to take advantage of the organization’s travel discounts and insurance. It can save you money and help you have a more enjoyable trip.

Where do married couples meet?

Where do married couples meet? This is a question that many people ask, and there is no one definitive answer to it. There are a number of places where married couples can meet, and each couple’s situation is different.

One common place for married couples to meet is in church. This may be because they met there and started dating, or because they continue to attend church together as a married couple. Church can be a great place for couples to strengthen their relationship with God and with each other.

Another common place for married couples to meet is through friends or family. This may be because the couple was introduced by a friend or family member, or because they spend time with friends and family together as a married couple. Spending time with friends and family is a great way to strengthen relationships and create lasting memories.

Some married couples meet online. This may be because they live in different parts of the country or world, or because they were not able to meet in person until later in their relationship. Online relationships can be just as strong as those that are formed in person.

Finally, some married couples meet at work. This may be because they work together, or because they met through work friends. Working together can be a great way to get to know someone, but it is important to be careful not to let work interfere with your personal life.

No matter where married couples meet, the most important thing is that they are able to spend time together and build a strong relationship.

How a group tour changed my whole approach to travel

I 've always considered myself a fiercely independent traveler. I've navigated more than 50 countries on my own, and while I have sometimes booked short excursions, usually for a day, it had never occurred to me to book a group tour. That changed when I decided to take two of my children on a family tour with Intrepid Travel .

I had planned on spending our winter break in the Middle East but changed my mind at the last minute due to safety concerns . Because of the abrupt change, I knew I wouldn't have time to plan an itinerary, book hotels and arrange transportation before our departure date. However, I didn’t want to let that stop me from having an adventure. I'm glad I took a chance on a group tour because it changed the way I travel. Here's how.

BEST OF THE BEST: 15 Best Group Travel Companies for Guided Tours

Start the day smarter. Get all the news you need in your inbox each morning.

The trip planning was stress-free

I spent a little time comparing tour companies but quickly honed in on Intrepid. The company offers a variety of itineraries for families at different price points, and a few of my friends had been on its tours and had a good experience. I also liked that Intrepid offers specialized tours for different types of travelers, including family tours .

At first I planned on an "original" style family tour but upgraded to a "comfort" tour, which included more activities and meals along with upgraded accommodations. Although it cost more, the company's 10-day Morocco Family Holiday tour was still within my budget and looked like a good value.

BEFORE YOU GO: The 5 most important questions to ask yourself before booking a tour

Once I committed to a tour, my planning was essentially done. That was a huge relief. I normally spend hours searching for hotels , figuring out some must-do activities in every location along with some off-the-beaten-track attractions, researching transportation options, and gathering restaurant recommendations. Although I often find it's fun, it’s also time-consuming and can become draining for trips that involve several stops.

Even though a group tour was not exactly what I would have planned on my own, Intrepid's Morocco itinerary was fairly close. I thought giving up some control was well worth the trade-off of not having to do all the planning on my own. Because Intrepid uses local teams based at its tour destinations to plan trips, I also hoped having a local involved would bring me to places I never would have found on my own.

SAVE MONEY: Kids stay free at these 10 all-inclusive family resorts

Instead of reading hotel reviews and booking entry tickets, I spent the weeks leading up to my family vacation learning more about Moroccan culture. I knew this would enrich my experience more than figuring out all of the details for a trip abroad to run smoothly. I'm usually a mix of excited and stressed in the week or two leading up to a big trip. This time I was mostly excited, and my stress was at a minimum.

Though I won’t stick exclusively to group tours in the future, this trip taught me to not sweat the small stuff so much. I don’t need to spend so much time finding the perfect hotel or restaurant to have a great trip.

Group trips are fantastic for solo travelers and parents traveling on their own

Before I had a family, I often traveled on my own. Though I enjoyed solo travel , it was lonely at times, even more so when I stopped staying at youth hostels and lost access to the fantastic communities they provide. Now I frequently travel with my two younger children. They are fantastic travel companions, but on longer trips I sometimes find myself longing for adult interaction or an extra pair of hands. Additionally, even though my kids usually get along well, they sometimes get sick of each other in the absence of any other playmates.

TRAVEL WITH TEENS: 10 best vacation ideas for families with teenagers

On my Intrepid trip, I had other adults to talk to throughout the day. That was a refreshing change from my usual experience of going a week or more without speaking to another adult for more than five minutes, usually for transactional matters like checking into a hotel. My kids also quickly made friends with the other children on the trip. Not surprisingly, all of the families on the trip had similar interests and an adventurous spirit. My children and I were the only Americans in the group, and it was interesting learning more about life in New Zealand, Canada and Australia from the other families.

The parents in the group quickly started leaning on one another for support. One mom, also traveling alone with her children, asked me to take one of her daughters on an outing so she could get some one-on-one time with her other child. I asked a different mom to keep an eye on my son while I packed our things for the next day. It was nice not feeling as if I was on my own.

UNIQUE TRIPS: Hate bus tours? These 7 unique guided tours were made for you

This "it takes a village" spirit is something I want to bring with me in my future travels. Although it’s not possible to replicate the experience of traveling with other families, it is possible to seek out connections away from home. For example, on a recent trip, my son wanted to play soccer with local children who lived near our hotel. Instead of rushing him away so we could squeeze in another activity, I let him play. He wound up meeting up with the other kids every night we were there, sharing candy and communicating with an app. The nights playing soccer were a highlight of that trip for him and something I probably would not have let him do before my experience with a group tour.

I appreciated a slower pace

I have serious FOMO and often pack too much into my days when I travel. When I first reviewed the itinerary, I noted right away that it had downtime and even an entire free afternoon built into the trip. Though I know many people enjoy that balance, I was worried I would feel bored and come away feeling as if I had traveled halfway around the world and missed seeing all there is to do.

TRIP REVIEW: Adventures by Disney’s Peru tour is a riveting family adventure

The reality is it’s impossible to do everything. Trying is exhausting and impossible. There is always something left on the to-do list at the end of the trip. It was refreshing to go into a trip not trying to see an entire country in two weeks and being OK with that from the outset.

Though there were a couple of other things I would have liked to have squeezed in, I was very happy with the balance of activities and downtime. Other than all-inclusive family vacations and trips to family resorts , I normally don’t schedule time to just relax while I am traveling. It was really nice to have time to read and play UNO with my kids. I also liked that Intrepid had a couple of optional activities for those of us who didn’t want quite as much downtime as others.

MONEY MATTERS: How much should you tip on a guided tour? All your gratuity questions answered

I do still feel pressure to see and do everything when I travel, but going on a group trip helped me see the value in traveling at a slower pace. Some of my favorite moments from my Intrepid trip happened during scheduled downtime; they gave me and my children time to just enjoy being with one another without the pressures of work and school. It’s a lesson I’ve tried to carry with me as I’ve planned future trips.

Learning from a local is invaluable

One reason I chose Intrepid is the company uses all local guides, and most tours use the same guide throughout the trip. It may sound obvious that learning from locals is the best way to get to know a country, but I had underestimated just how valuable traveling with a local guide would be.

TOUR REVIEW: Adventures by Disney’s South Africa tour is a lesson in culture, history, and beauty

I learned much about Moroccan culture through our tour guide, who was always willing to answer questions about his life and traditions. He even brought us to his family home to meet his parents and niece, which was a very special experience. Aside from being able to share the history of everywhere we visited, I also liked that our guide warned us about scams to watch out for, shared the tipping culture and gave advice on bargaining. He was also helpful when it came to practical matters like finding an ATM.

For future trips, I will be more open to taking guided tours with local guides, even if it’s just for a few hours. I will also make it a point to try to talk to more locals, as long as I can do so without bothering them too much.

Even though it wasn’t what I had originally planned, not only did I have a great experience on my trip with Intrepid, it has also forever changed the way I plan to travel.
