Review: “severance” by guilt trip.

We’ve been unashamedly following Manchester Metallic Hardcore meets crossover Thrash quartet Guilt Trip since their HUGE 2019 single “ Thin Ice ” caught our attention via BDHW Records. That was in the build up to the release of their debut album “ River Of Lies “, a record which enabled them to put their boot print on both Europe and Canada while smashing Bloodstock and Hellfest appearances out of the park. Since of course they added a sophomore EP in 2021’s “ Rain City ” to their collection of burnt offerings while continuing their war path like trajectory as main support for  Stray From The Path across Europe. Two years on, vocalist Jay Valentine, drummer Tom Aimson and guitarist pairing Jak Maden and Sam Baker return with “ Severance “, having inked a deal in blood with MLVLTD, the label owned and run by Sheffield Shredders Malevolence …

A band who have always stuck firmly to the go hard or go home approach, Guilt Trip come out swinging with “ Fallen At My Feet “, a 77 second blast of Metallic Hardcore riffs with a feral single verse that hits like a knuckleduster to the jaw. A call to the pit and a call to arms with that two step ability, it’s one that sets the tone perfectly before the bouncy “ Surrounded By Pain ” sets the place ablaze. Tastefully Groove laden with the band pulling out a few whammy bar drops in the vein of Power Trip , it’s one with all the bark and bite of a Pitbull let off the leash after being stung on the nose by a hornet. Valentine has real venom in his voice and the punches simply keep coming as “ Eyes Wide Shut ” brings the rumbling bass, the percussion sounding absolutely huge as the driving force behind the pace and energy that the band summon. No relation to Stanley Kubrick’s 1999 erotic mystery psychological drama film, this one instead has more grit and integrity to it with a fierce intensity. “ Sweet Dreams ” finds the band joined by Florent Salfati of Landmvrks , a band who would make an obvious touring partner, for a pummelling affair that is enhanced by a couple of well placed fleeting clean sung moments. The mix has been nailed with the crunch of the guitars reminding of “ Nomad ” era Kublai Khan and you can’t help but feeling that some of these cuts have a name attached to them.

Giving a little respite without destroying the flow of the record “ Reaching Paradise ” is a tasteful melancholic instrumental that builds atmosphere in a why that mirrors the song title by sounding like ascendancy. That gives the opportunity for the follow up “ Tearing Your Life Away ” to hit that much harder and the band don’t waste the opportunity, unleashing a track that hits like thunder as Valentine admits to not speaking out when he should have, sick of listening to his enemies talking s***. The relatable nature of the lyrics is fuel to the fire of and you can bet your bottom dollar that this will get a circle pit. The whammy bar drop solo the record has been screaming for finally happens in “ Broken Wings “, an absolute scorcher of a tune with a razor sharp riff and squeals to boot. It plays out at the tempo of the damned before transcending into a melodic section with a graceful clean sung vocal passage. Real blood, real sweat and real tears went into this and you can feel it when the cut snaps back into the final furious breakdown. Ploughing through their enemies with a clenched fist of fury, “ The Gates ” finds Guilt Trip bring out the big guns in vocalists from Malevolence and Rough Justice to add to the sheer weight of their sonic attack. Refusing to back down with the pedal to the metal this is music for pitting and partying that has a real depth of lyrical meaning to it.

After fleeting moments of clean vocal earlier on in the record, Mike Duce of Lower Than Atlantis appears on “ Sanctified ” to give it that sing-a-long ability, something which works incredibly well as Guilt Trip point blank refuse to sell their souls. Instead you get the best of both worlds as a heavy hitting Metallic Hardcore track is graced by a chorus that reminds of Stone Temple Pilots without lowering the tempo or intensity to do so. Surrounded by his fears and sins, Valentine opens his heart during a clean vocal at the beginning of “ Hell Will Replace the Rain ” that stuns, the band building from the dark atmosphere to their usual bone snapping style for a second half that hits like a freight train. A risk that pays off handsomely this one is one that sticks out from the record like a hammer smashed thumb for all the right reasons. Variety is after all the spice of life. The bass drive during the first verse of “ Severance ” is immense as the band give us another powerhouse cut of muscular Hardcore to throw into the fire. It is however “ Dusk ” where everything changes. A dark acoustic affair of raw emotion might be the last thing you’d have expected from an album of this stature but in truth it wouldn’t have worked anywhere else on the record. Showcasing a completely different side to the band and proving that they are far from a one trick pony, this final moment is one that stirs the soul. Guilt Trip are in their element here, you don’t want to sleep on this [8.5/10]

ALBUM REVIEW: Guilt Trip – Severance

“ And now the presence of eyes has broken my dreams, I fall from peace on broken wings .”

Manchester unit Guilt Trip were once upon a time one of the most exciting prospects in the UK scene, breaking out with their debut full-length, River of Lies . Raging with its two-step beats, fierce vocal hooks and thrashy riffs, tracks such as “ Thin Ice ” and “ River of Lies ” saw many buy into what Guilt Trip had to offer. Follow-up EP Rain City put this to challenge; obtuse production and inconsistent songwriting that lacked the hooks of previous material caused some to doubt the future of the group’s sound.

Two years on, Guilt Trip now return with their sophomore full-length, Severance , which calls in a roster of features including Mike Duce ( Lower Than Atlantis ), Florent Salfati ( LANDMVRKS ), Alex Taylor (Malevolence), and James Tippett ( Rough Justice ). There is an out-of-the-gates attitude as it opens on “ Fallen at My Feet “, throwing in riffs aplenty and a nice breakdown call out of “ You’ve been slipping away through the sands of time, now you can kiss it goodbye ” that harken back to the earlier era of Guilt Trip .

“ Surrounded by Pain ” and “ Eyes Wide Shut ” is where Severance begins to get stuck in the mire. This is especially the case with the former, which spends a good third of its duration rehashing the same style of breakdown/bridge that drains any force it would have had. There is thankfully more substance to “ Eyes Wide Shut “; a flurry of kicks, fills and guitar solos perk the ear up, closing out on a somewhat satisfying breakdown.

“ Sweet Dreams ” follows in the same pattern, throwing in some chugs and pitched chords for good measure at the start. The feature of Florent Salfati comes across rather lacklustre, and something loaded with more venom could have been better here. A short interlude complied of some pleasant guitar chords leads into the second half of Severance , and as it hits “ Broken Wings ” it does begin to get going.

The opening stretch has the fury that was seen on “ Fallen at My Feet ” and on moments on “ Eyes Wide Shut “, rapid kicks and a snare that pops gives more impact to the track. The big vocal hook first comes in with anthemic cleans (“ Swallow me whole, erase my pain, I’m not the same, on broken wings I fell from grace “) before being barked by vocalist Jay Valentine . The tension built up here bursts into a breakdown, giving it proper oompf despite being not too dissimilar from others on the record.

Severance ‘s second half continues to impress on “ The Gates “, with punchy guitars leading into a standout feature from James Tippett . “ I will not be broken again ” opens a chunky breakdown, and the second vocal feature from Alex Taylor adds an extra ounce of weight to the brutal track. Another feature comes in the form of a nice vocal hook from Mike Duce on “ Sanctified “: “ Alone but I’m better off that way, I live alone inside my head .” Reception to this will likely be mixed, but the contribution does lend a nice nostalgic tinge.

On “ Hell Will Replace the Rain “, the quartet do a top job of building up energy for the title track. Baritone guitar licks and lamenting modal vocals (“ I’m digging up my own grave, I’m carving my own stone “) open it up, before the addition of tensed guitar eventually explodes out in chuggier riffs. The forward momentum it builds finds its pay-off meaningfully, as the titular yell “ S-s-severence ” hits into a two-step that is soon followed by one of their biggest breakdowns. Guilt Trip are going out swinging if anything. The twist at the end of Severance is the acoustic-guitar musings of “ Dusk “. As a track, it’s fine and does neatly wrap-up the album, yet it’s difficult not to feel unsure who this is for.

There are certainly enjoyable cuts on Severance ; the aforementioned title track, “ Broken Wings ” and “ The Gates ” all see Guilt Trip back at it. Further refinement, especially on some of the track lengths early on, would benefit any future Guilt Trip record, as it does yearn for the 20-minute runtime of River of Lies . If they can continue to produce and put together more tracks like the second half of Severance , the Manchester unit could become a force to be reckoned with.

Hardcore music frequently acts as the raw, unfiltered voice of dissent and catharsis in a world where chaos reigns and emotions are high. The most recent release from Guilt Trip, “Severance,” proves the genre’s enduring strength. This album is a raging emotional catharsis and a sonic proclamation of resiliency.

“Fallen At My Feet,” the album’s opening track, perfectly captures Guilt Trip’s trademark ferocity. The unyielding tone of “Severance” is set off by thunderous riffs, machine-gun drumming, and a vocal delivery that seems to come from the depths of hell. “Eyes Wide Shut” and “Surrounded By Pain” continue the relentless assault, showcasing the band’s overwhelming strength and unrelenting aggression. These songs bludgeon the listener with their unyielding heaviness like sonic sledgehammers. The song “Sweet Dreams” introduces one of my all-time favourite metalcore vocalists, Florent Salfati of Landmvrks, and gives the album a captivating new dimension.

The contrast between Guilt Trip’s brutality and Salfati’s brief clean vocals are both unsettling and atmospheric. The band’s technical mastery and unyielding energy are displayed in the Supersonic whirlwinds “Reaching Paradise” and “Tearing Your Life Away,” which continue the album’s onslaught. Guilt Trip keeps the listener interested and on the edge by skilfully fusing melodic passages with scorching ferocity. With “Broken Wings” and “The Gates,” “Severance” reaches its most intense emotional point. A haunting sense of catharsis is conveyed by the band’s guttural screams and spine-tingling clean vocals as they explore themes of anguish, sorrow, and in particular broken dreams. This song’s writing is incredibly moving, engrossing the listener even more in Guilt Trip’s mental agony.

“Sanctified” and “Hell Will Replace the Rain” provide the album’s concluding strikes as they unleash a bombardment of sound artillery. Guilt Trip doesn’t let up, keeping the album’s intensity high all the way towards the end. The apocalyptic high point of the album is “Severance,” the album’s lead song. The record’s brutal vocal delivery and bone-crushing breakdowns drive it to a cataclysmic finish, leaving the listener battered and gasping for air. After the auditory onslaught., “Dusk” serves as a sombre, reflective outro, offering a time of rest and reflection.

Guilt Trip has created a relentless, cathartic masterpiece. It’s an album that demands your attention, gripping you with its emotional depth and punishing intensity. Signed to MLVLTD, the label founded by Malevolence, Guilt Trip’s future in the Hardcore scene looks promising, and “Severance” is the album that solidifies their place among the genre’s elite. If you’re a fan of unrelenting heaviness, emotional depth, and cathartic release, “Severance” is a must-listen, reaffirming Guilt Trip’s status as a metallic hardcore force to be reckoned with.

I didn't know who these lads were until I had seen them live supporting Malevolence. Needless to say, they stole the show for me. The moment their set started, everybody picked that shit up. With this EP, I think I'm most impressed by just how much they experiment with their original style while staying true to the root sound. Standard bearers for an imprint set up by widely praised Manchester metalcore mob MALEVOLENCE , GUILT TRIP have one major thing in common with their new label bosses: From its first note to its last, "Severance" sounds absolutely fucking livid. Coupled with the fact that this young band's music is impressively fresh and cliché-free, it is hard to imagine a future that doesn't involve a great number of violent circle pits kicking off wherever they go.

Riffy. Aggressive. Obnoxious. These are the key tenets of GUILT TRIP 's unashamedly straight-to-jugular sound. The band's hardcore credentials are obvious, but it's the full-bore modern metal punch that these songs deliver that promises to set them apart from any number of generic crossover crews. On a more primal / personal note, it is also true that I nearly threw my laptop across the room when I heard "Surrounded By Pain" kick off for the first time. A sublime and adrenalin-fueled hybrid of fight-ready metalcore and, in particular, crunchy, chug-heavy groove metal, it owes a good chunk of its soul to MACHINE HEAD , right down to the deft use of harmonics as punctuation. This, incidentally, is a great thing.

"Severance" often kicks and pummels with street-level spite — with EARTH CRISIS and HATEBREED as obvious forebears — but GUILT TRIP 's masterstroke is to focus almost entirely on neck-wrecking riffs and their potential to incite violence in public places. "Severance" is full of moments that feel strategically designed to make people hurl themselves at each other with fists flying. "Eyes Wide Shut" is short, sharp and nasty. "Sweet Dreams" is as precise and gnarly as SYLOSIS , but as stripped down and thuggish as MADBALL . "Broken Wings" is a rampaging, thrashed-up bombing campaign with echoes of the early noughties (and bands like HIMSA and SHADOWS FALL ) and a lethally effective mid-song dissolution into mournful melody.

"The Gates" and "Sanctified" both zip along with speed metal impatience, but the latter shifts from a brutal groove to some trippy guitar work and a hazily KORN -like vocal melody, as yet more scything riffs pile up. GUILT TRIP have no shortage of sharp, shrewd ideas, even as they goad us to upturn the furniture. They even pull off a gothic, riff-driven ballad ( "Hell Will Replace The Rain" ) that turns out to be one of this album's heaviest moments.

Meanwhile, the jaw-jarring slamcore of the title track seems to go through an absurd number of transitions, but every riff and every melodic hook is where it should be. Even the breezy folk rock stroll of the closing "Dusk" hits the spot. In fact, it is a mature maneuver that speaks volumes about GUILT TRIP 's vast potential. This band will go places, and people will go apeshit. On this evidence, it's a done deal.

Album Review: Guilt Trip – Severance (via MLVLTD)

Mancunian’s Guilt Trip are here with a brand new album, due for release on September 22nd. As a big fan of Guilt Trip I was instantly excited for this album seeing it, and am very onboard for a review.  

Guilt Trip waste no time in getting to the nitty gritty, it’s labeled with squeals and plenty of blast beats to make any classic hardcore kid happy. Following up with that very quickly are some war drums and a lofi riff, a pit starter in the making. Finished up by a quick “come on!” Second song in and there’s already a two step beat, and I can’t say I’m not grinning. This shit makes me want to go see em’ live even more! I can certainly imagine myself being “Surrounded by Pain.”

Third track “Eyes Wide Shut” wastes absolutely no time, it’s in your face and meant to be causing fights. “Sweet Dreams” is chuggy, noisy and has lots of tasty guitar fills. Going straight from that into a circle pit opener and straight back down. Guilt Trip even experiment with some clean singing in between quick riffs. Having Florent Salfati (of French Metal-core act Landmvrks) on a Guilt Trip track was never something I expected but it is SO welcome. His verse is short and sweet, my only complaint is it wasn’t longer!

Fifth effort – “Reaching Paradise” is the shortest track on the album, coming in just under 2 minutes. It’s a much softer track, whilst still holding onto that Guilt Trip sound. It’s clear they want to branch out but they somehow seem sort of scared to? I wish they’d let these ideas they clearly have run wild. However it serves to set up the next track VERY well. This is energy encapsulated into a song, this one absolutely WILL go off live. Quick jabs here and there make up this track.  

Seventh track Broken Wings just over the halfway mark, is a show of Guilt Trip’s more interesting guitar writing. It has that unrivalled Guilt Trip sound but with a bit more of that technicality. Very good stuff.

Track eight “The Gates” is simply put fucking great. It’s beatdown, it’s got pinch harmonics, it’s got stupid stops and starts and bouncy palm mute sections. It’s my bread and butter, I can’t complain. I thought next track “Sancitifed” would struggle to follow that one but I was pleasantly surprised, it has sections of clean singing which I really enjoy as a change, because I feel like on a track of 12 vaguely similar sounding hardcore tunes you can and will get burnt out on the sound. Whilst you might’ve loved track one, you might not be so keen around the track 10 mark. “Sanctified” manages to stave off that burnout and I’m massively keen on it.  

Track 10 is more of that ‘letting the ideas run wild’ thing I was going on about earlier, I’m massively keen on it. It’s good stuff and I’m excited to see them be doing a bit of different stuff whilst never letting that classic Guilt Trip sound go.  

Penultimate Track “Severance” is not taking no for an answer, it’s picking you up and slamming you through the closest table and then two stepping on your lifeless body. Also, lovely bass tone Guilt Trip.  

Final track is an acoustic sort of ballad, it’s very pretty and you sort of come to expect a slower ‘sadder’ sounding song when bands do full metal albums. I like it, but I like sending things off with a bang, why have like, 10 tracks of pure carnage and then let the energy die at the finish line? It’s not bad by any means, I’m just being a picky little wanker.

Guilt Trip // Severance // Album Review

It’s fair to say that the standard of British Metal is on a huge upward curve, with new bands coming through and pushing the bar higher.

One of these bands is Guilt Trip and for those who may be unaware of the band – firstly give yourself a talking too, secondly get ready to be slapped very hard and very frequently around the face.

The band from Manchester have already graced stages at Bloodstock and Hellfest which was followed up by a Canadian tour and then a run in Europe supporting Stray From The Path.

Swiftly making a huge name on the UK Hardcore scene, I was very excited to hear this when it was on the list before I get to see the band playing alongside Malevolence, Sylosis and Justice For The Damned in November.

Boring shit first – the album is 12 tracks spanning 35 minutes. Now that’s out the way – this is fucking awesome.

From the start, the chugs, the breakdowns, the drums, guitars and vocals – everything goes hard and will knock you into next week.

The opener is a whetting of the appetite and if you are unsure what to expect then this will paint the picture perfectly. The squealing guitars loosen the limbs before We head into ‘Surrounded by Pain’ and things really pick up. Get ready for your arms to start to swing about and you relentlessly and uncontrollably flail about.

These involuntarily movements will continue as the album progresses and they will get more violent as the music gets heavier and goes harder and harder. Please make sure that anything or anyone fragile are moved out of harm’s way as they will be reduced to dust.

To throw you slightly off, the album closer ‘Dusk’ is a stripped back offering and ends the album in a manner than you would not expect however is a great closing to the offering, plus I can guarantee that you will be pressing play again if you haven’t already pressed the repeat button.

Severance is an album that shows how safe the future of British metal is and Guilt Trip are bound to be at the front of the group of bands that are pushing their way to the world scene.

This is an amazing Metallic Hardcore album that is up there with anything else that has been released recently by any band in that arena and I would urge any fan of heavier music to buy this.

Severance will be released Friday 22 nd September 2023 via MLVLTD.

No Malevolence album this year? No problem! The Yorkshire bruisers have been kind enough to release the debut album from Manchester ass-kickers Guilt Trip on their own MLVLTD label, so nobody has to go without bouncy Metallic Hardcore made by angry Northerners this year – rejoice! Fortunately, rather than being mere clones of their Crowbar-worshipping amigos, the band have enough of their own spin on things to dispel any notions of them being also-rans. In fact, “Severance” is pretty fucking good indeed!

First things first, Hardcore bands please watch and learn – not every album needs to open with a moody clean intro! We know you’re gonna smash us in the face, that’s why we decided to put a Hardcore album on, plus we’ve all heared ‘Battery’. ‘Fallen At My Feet’ on the other hand decides the best course of action is to cram as many pick scrapes, harmonics and monstrous chugs into just over a minute as possible, like if your assailant did an overture before the full mugging took place. It transitions fantastically into the irresistible ‘Summoned By Pain’, a track that melds Testament licks onto the end of thugged-out Madball riffs and caps it off with the kind of beatdown that medical tent staff at festivals across the globe wince at in anticipation of a long shift. 

One aspect that the band is great at throughout the record is an almost comedic proclivity for guitar harmonics whether pinched or otherwise. Killswitch Engage, Zack Wylde and Gojira would all look at the squealing and pinging on the likes of ‘Sweet Dreams’, ‘Tearing Your Life Away’ and ‘Broken Wings’ and wonder if they didn’t go big enough on their wee-woo game. It could get overly gimmicky were it not used to bolster some cast-iron monster riffs which do the heavy lifting both figuratively and most definitely sonically.

 Another standout is the impressive performance by lead singer Jay Valentine. His harsh vocals are bang on the money, adopting a full-throated yell instead of an uber-distorted rasp and employing it to great rhythmic effect such as on the head-nodding bounce of the title track, coming across like early Chino Moreno minus the sexy-time vocals. His clean singing immediately impressed me as well for a number of reasons. Not only does he show nuance and a dash of warm soulfulness on closing dark ballad ‘Dusk’, but he doesn’t sound like a fucking American! Not that there’s anything wrong with being American per se, but if you’re from the UK why not sing in your own authentic voice rather than affecting a Chester Benington impression like every fucker else? Valentine’s Manchester burr feels way more legit tackling the more personal lyrics than any cut and paste Metalcore singer you’d care to name, and it’s little things like this that are so important when it comes to standing out on a sea of Metalcore bands.

Hats off must also go to the production team for delivering a punchy, sharp sound that captures the subtle nuances of Tom Aimson’s monstrous performance behind the kit on the likes of ‘The Gates’ where he swings harder than Thor’s hammer during a Rat Pack concert. Slick but not sterile is the order of the day here, allowing the band to sound appealing enough to hook in While She Sleeps fans but mean enough to satisfy tatooed angry meat men like me.

Of course, as with nearly any debut there is room for growth, and although the band put their own spin on the Metallic Hardcore sound, I do hope they spread their wings a little further with songs like the hulking industrial assault on ‘Hell Will Replace The Rain’, but for now the selection of pure ass-beaters that make up the bulk of the album are filled with enough vim and vigour to more than satisfy. As debut albums go there will be very few that are as fully-formed and realised as “Severance” and there’s enough glimmers of innovation to put a fair few of the old guard to shame.

Guilt Trip – Severance | Album Review

Manchester's Guilt Trip return to stamp their authority on the world of hardcore with their crushing sophomore album.

When it comes to metallic hardcore in the UK, the scene is rude health and then some. In recent years a plethora of bands have come aggressively stomping out of the underground from all four corners of the country and moshing their way to the top of the global scene. Located in the northern powerhouse of Manchester, Guilt Trip are one of these bands paving the way with this new, highly aggressive and gritty brand of UK hardcore alongside the likes of Malevolence and Heriot . Returning with their sophomore album Severance , a relentlessly bruising and skull splitting album packed with bludgeoning breakdowns as well as a few surprises that you wouldn’t expect.  

The first thing you’ll notice is that the Manchester natives have evolved their sound to incorporate melody and more dynamic riffs alongside the implementation of higher quality production making Severance sound much more clinical, punchy and precise. In some ways it does feel like Guilt Trip have taken a page out of Malevolence ’s playbook, especially in the latter half of the album where clean guitars and emotive melodies and clean vocals are used. While there may be an influence given the fact that Guilt Trip are signed to MLVLTD, the band have made significant strides to stand out from amongst their contemporaries.  

There is an unbridled fury that exudes from the majority of this album. Guilt Trip do not hold back in unleashing a barrage of visceral aggression as they traverse through the spectrum of metal, hardcore and thrash. Fuelled by pure rage, throughout the course of this album you’ll find yourself scrunching your face and two stepping at alarmingly regular intervals as each riff and breakdown pummels your ear drums. Guilt Trip consistently build momentum and tension, which is then paid off with incredibly satisfying breakdowns or eruptions of groove laden chugged riffs.  

When you look at the artwork that adorns the album’s cover, you get a feeling that this album is about vindication, self-empowerment, self-evolution and unwavering resilience. Tackling the more demonic emotions within you and the savage world around you, this is certainly a soundtrack for getting yourself hyped up and releasing your anger through controlled aggression. Accompanied by a furious passion to deliver truly ruthless music, Guilt Trip have levelled up significantly on Severance and the album could serve as a significant start point for a steep upward trajectory to the upper echelons of the scene locally and globally.  

Ultimately the album is ruthlessly brutal and fast paced. With songs such as ‘Tearing Your Life Away’, ‘Sanctified’, ‘Eyes Wide Shut’, ‘Hell Will Replace The Rain’ and ‘Surrounded By Pain’ being perfect examples of this, you see that even though Guilt Trip have expanded their sound, they haven’t forgot their roots and the scene that spawned them. ‘Broken Wings’ is where we see a shift in the band’s sound, as they incorporate cleaner guitars and clean vocals, which adds an emotive dynamic to the album which is then expanded on with album closer ‘Dusk’. The acoustic album closer will surprise many with its subtle, gentle, acoustic melodies and heartfelt lyrics passionately sung by Jay Valentine . All the small glimpses throughout the album lead up to this track and it shows a different side to Guilt Trip that we haven’t seen before. However, it has to be said that it is an interesting way to close such a violent album reminiscent of the 2010 metalcore records.  

Severance will undoubtably put Guilt Trip on more people’s radar and push them further into the upper echelons of the scene. Having already conquered Bloodstock and Hellfest it is easy to see why they are considered a premier UK hardcore export and Severance certainly backs up that claim.

Guilt Trip announce new album ‘Severance’

GUILT TRIP  have announced a new album!

Titled  Severance , the upcoming album from the Manchester-based metallic hardcore band is the follow-up to 2019’s  River Of Lies , and is scheduled to be released in September this year, via  MLVLTD Music .

Alongside the announcement of the new album, the band have released a new music video for a new song lifted from the upcoming album;  Broken Wings . The new song is the third single to be released from the upcoming album, following on from  Sweet Dreams   and  Tearing Your Life Away .

Speaking about the new song, the band says, “ GUILT TRIP  have always had major metal influences but we’ve always remained very much a hardcore entity, with Broken Wings and our new record in general we wanted to delve more into the metal aspects of our music, thus instrumentally this song came to fruition. Lyrically the song engages with the concept of faith and whether we deem ourselves worthy of its hand in our darkest days.”
