The Schengen Area welcomed Hungary on December 21, 2007. From that point, visas and residence permits issued by a member state of the Schengen Agreement are also valid for Hungary, and visas and residence permits issued by the government of Hungary are often valid throughout the entire Schengen Area.

• Please be aware that residency permit requests can only be made in person by appointment at the Hungarian Embassy in Abu Dhabi.

• After completing your visa application, you must make an appointment at a visa application center to have your fingerprints and photo taken. The term “biometric information” refers to this.

• You can submit an application for a short-term visa, the Hungarian government has 15 days to decide.
