I saw La Luz in Amsterdam a couple nights ago.... And I can't stop smiling! This band is incredible and so easy to dance and get wild to. If they are coming to your city go! Don't think about it! Just go! It'll be a wild night :)

It was a nice, fun and relaxed show + they sounded great! Just what I expected, although they did tell someone off for recording, which I think is toxic and doesn't belong in the lower and mid ranks of the music industry.

Yall rocked my socks off!!! Great show!! Def looking forward to another show next time tall come to town!! The opening acts were great as well!! Hope to see you guys again soon! !

La Luz Cancels Tour Dates as Frontwoman Shana Cleveland Announces Breast Cancer Diagnosis

California-via-Seattle-based indie rock band La Luz announced that it is cancelling its upcoming set of March North American tour dates after frontwoman and principal songwriter Shana Cleveland announced a breast cancer diagnosis.

La Luz announced the news on social media, writing to its followers on Instagram, “Hello sweet friends and Luzer fam, You may have noticed a little radio silence on our end of late. Normally a month before a tour we’d be blasting you with show announcements but we’ve been forced to shift our focus upon finding out that Shana has breast cancer. While we’re still waiting to get info on what treatment will look like, it seems clear we won’t be able to make this East Coast Tour happen in March. We know she’s going to pull through this stronger than ever and are hoping that our European tour beginning in May can go on as scheduled. We miss you terribly and will rebook shows in the Midwest and Eastern US as soon as possible. Sending love to you all ❤️❤️❤️❤️”

In a separate statement to Pitchfork , Cleveland was more explicit about hearing the news at first, in the doctor’s office.

She told the outlet, “The nurse who gave me this news hightailed it out of there after she told me and I found myself sitting alone in a tiny windowless room with the diagnosis for what felt like an eternity but was probably about 10 minutes. In the weeks that followed, I was overwhelmed with loneliness, feeling like I had been sucked out of the world I knew and placed into some new weird cancer realm. When we realized we needed to make an announcement about canceling the tour it was important to me to tell people why, because this disease affects so many families I figured the odds were pretty good that some of our fans were in the same boat and sharing my diagnosis might make them feel a little less alone.

“Since making the announcement I’ve been overwhelmed by the support we’ve received and it makes me more determined to get back on the road as soon as this is over so I can share my love and appreciation in person.”

In 2021, the band released its latest, self-titled album.

And in the wake of Cleveland sharing her news, the band has launched the La Luz Family Fund to support her in her treatment and recovery.

"We know she’s going to pull through this stronger than ever," her bandmates wrote

Seattle surf-rock band La Luz have announced the cancellation of their forthcoming North American tour, revealing that frontwoman Shana Cleveland has been diagnosed with breast cancer.

The news came in a post made to the group’s Instagram page over the weekend, acknowledging first that a recent bout of radio silence was due to Cleveland’s illness. “Normally a month before a tour we’d be blasting you with show announcements,” they wrote, “but we’ve been forced to shift our focus upon finding out that Shana has breast cancer.

“While we’re still waiting to get info on what treatment will look like, it seems clear we won’t be able to make this east coast tour happen in March. We know she’s going to pull through this stronger than ever, and are hoping that our European tour beginning in May can go on as scheduled.”

Following an appearance at the Winterland IV festival in Florida (which has also been scrapped), La Luz were due to embark on their 14-date North American tour at the start of March, kicking off in Philadelphia and wrapping up in Washington D.C. According to the aforementioned statement, those dates will be rescheduled “as soon as possible”.

Though the group have stated that they hope to keep their European tour on the cards for May, it’s currently unclear whether their eight-date trek across the UK – slated to happen across the last two weeks of April – will go ahead.

Explica Ripol que la ansiedad y la aprensión que muchas experimentan alrededor del embarazo y del parto deberían sustituirse por calma y conexión. El hipnoparto ayuda a cambiar esa mentalidad con el objetivo de vivir esos procesos transformadores desde la serenidad, con información y herramientas. Pero, ojo, su planteamiento siempre parte de la evidencia científica .

La motivación para escribir este libro parte de su experiencia con dos partos en casa. Así, dice: "Yo me propuse dar la bienvenida a mis hijos de una forma muy distinta, quería un parto más respetuoso y respetado, y pude lograrlo. Si eso es lo que tú también deseas, ¡este libro es para ti! Verás que lo importante no es cómo nace tu bebé sino cómo vas tomando decisiones conscientes a lo largo de todo el proceso, empezando desde el embarazo. Yo quería elegir cómo, dónde y con quién parir. Y así lo hice".

Qué no es hipnoparto

En el libro, Paula Ripol se propone derribar mitos y ser rigurosa con la ciencia. Estas son las ideas preconcebidas sobre el hipnoparto que quiere aclarar:

• Sirve para hipnotizarte y no enterarte de nada: en realidad, es más bien lo contrario, te brinda las herramientas para que puedas tener un rol activo durante la gestación y el parto.
• Sólo está indicado para un parto natural : los conocimientos que se aprenden pueden aplicar a un parto natural en casa, en el hospital, con inducción y hasta con cesárea. Siempre mejorará tu experiencia porque, independientemente de cómo quieras parir, vas a necesitar estar relajada y serena y esto es lo que consigues con el hipnoparto.
• No va de la mano de la medicina: más bien al contrario, pues se basa en datos y comprobaciones científicas, y justamente nos basamos en hacer muchas preguntas y tener información veraz para poder tomar decisiones conscientes y autónomas.
• No es compatible con querer la epidural : en lo que mucha gente no repara es que probablemente van a pasar horas antes de que se te administre una epidural, si es lo que deseas. Varios estudios demuestran que las mujeres que recurren al hipnoparto usan menos fármacos para paliar el dolor, como la epidural.

Usa un lenguaje positivo

Explica Paula Ripol que el hipnoparto funciona construyedo confianza en el proceso natural con el poder de las palabras, desbloqueando miedos inconscientes que si no las atacas a tiempo, "pueden salir más adelante en forma de bloqueos, tensiones o no dilatación ". El relato del parto es negativo y, aunque no seamos conscientes, los mensajes sombríos se han ido acumulando en nuestro cerebro. Tanto es así, que "muchas mujeres están aterrorizadas incluso antes de quedarse embarazadas". Y hay algunas que no quieren tener hijos, continúa, "¡por el miedo que le tienen al parto!".

Por eso, recomienda sustituir directamente unas expresiones por otras, más amables y con menos carga 'oscura'. Así, prefiere el uso de ' ola ' en vez de 'contracción'; 'sensaciones, intensidad , poder', por 'dolor'; '¿estás cómoda? por ' ¿te duele? '; 'sabes que tienes opciones', por '¿quieres algún calmante?', etc.

El objetivo es no tensar el cuerpo, algo que produce más dolor y que dificulta el riego sanguíneo en el útero. La primera consecuencia de ello es que el bebé no recibe el oxígeno que necesita, que sus pulsaciones bajen y que pueda padecer estrés fetal. En cambio, en un estado de relajación, se produce "más oxitocina y todo funciona tal como está diseñado que funcione".

Técnicas de hipnoparto

En el hipnoparto una técnica fundamental es la respiración ascendente , que también se utiliza en 'mindfulness', yoga, meditación, etc. Explica la autora de 'Dar a luz con hipnoparto' que "la exhalación es más larga que la inhalación, lo que hace que sea muy difícil entrar en un estado de pánico". Si a esto unimos la relajación , que es la técnica más importante de este tipo de abordaje, será más sencillo encontrar la calma para dar a luz.

Se pretende transportar a la mujer a una relajación profunda que absorba los mensajes positivos sobre el parto y a construir su autoconfianza. "Siempre digo que lo bueno del hipnoparto es que toda la preparación se hace durante el embarazo para que el día que des a luz a tu bebé simplemente puedas soltar y dejes que la práctica haga lo que se espera de ella", concluye.

Precio de la luz por horas, 24 de abril | ¿Cuándo es más barato y cuándo es más caro el kWh?

La excepción ibérica, la medida que permitía a España y Portugal fijar un límite al precio del gas utilizado para producir electricidad, dejó de estar en vigor con la finalización del año 2023 . Esta medida comenzó a aplicarse después de que la guerra de Ucrania -iniciada el febrero de 2022- aumentase la crisis energética en la que se encontraba nuestro país.

El precio medio de la luz para los clientes de tarifa regulada vinculados al mercado mayorista cerró 2023 en 87,1 euros por megavatio hora (MWh), lo que supone una reducción de más de la mitad (-58%) en comparación con el dato de 2022, cuando la crisis energética de la guerra de Ucrania llevó el precio a un histórico de 209 euros. Además, este dato hubiese sido un 23% más elevado de no ser por el ‘mecanismo ibérico’.

Para todo 2024, está previsto que el IVA de la luz sea del 10% , si bien el Gobierno introdujo una excepción , que es que si en un mes el precio medio de la electricidad se sitúa por debajo de los 45 euros/megavatio hora (MWh), en el mes siguiente a que esto se produzca, se aplicará un IVA del 21% , retornando al 10%, si el precio vuelve a superar esos 45 euros/MWh.

De esta manera, el IVA del precio de la luz subió del 10% al 21% en marzo, tras el descenso en febrero del precio del megavatio hora (MWh) por debajo de los 45 euros. Esta situación se mantiene en abril después de que el precio medio quedase situado en los 20 euros durante el mes anterior.

Según los datos ofrecidos por la web de la Red Eléctrica de España, el tramo más barato de la luz del miércoles 24 de abril será a las 03:00 horas . El precio del kilovatio hora será de 0,06177 euros en la Península, Baleares, Canarias, Ceuta y Melilla .

¿Cuándo será la luz más cara el miércoles 24 de abril?

Por otra parte, la luz será más cara en toda la Península, Baleares, Canarias, Ceuta y Melilla a las 21:00 horas del miércoles 24 de abril, con un precio del kilovatio hora de 0,23063 euros .

¿Cómo se calcula la tarifa eléctrica?

La factura de la luz se calcula mediante dos precios, el que se paga por la potencia contratada y el precio resultante de los kilovatios que se consumen durante el mes .

Además, depende también del tipo de factura contratada , que diferencia tres tipos de tramos en función del horario, que son hora punta (tramo en el que el precio de la luz es más caro), hora llana (con un coste menor que en el tramo más caro) y hora valle (tramo con un precio de la luz más barato). Este modelo de factura se implementó a partir del mes de junio.

Con respecto a la elección de la tarifa , los usuarios pueden elegir dos opciones , o bien la tarifa que ofrece su comercializadora, o bien acogerse al mercado regulado con el Precio Voluntario para el Pequeño Consumidor (PVPC).

Listado Final para la Mariposa Arlequín de Puerto Rico, Hábitat Critico Final, y Regla 4(d) - Preguntas Frecuentes

¿Quién es la mariposa arlequín de Puerto Rico y donde se encuentra?   

La mariposa arlequín de Puerto Rico es endémica de Puerto Rico, de tamaño mediano y pertenece a la familia de las mariposas de manchas de ajedrez (conocidas en inglés como “checkerspots butterflies”). Su distribución es fragmentada entre remanentes de bosque nativo en el noroeste y centro de Puerto Rico.  

¿Qué acción está tomando el Servicio Federal de Pesca y Vida Silvestre?   

Basado en una revisión de la mejor información científica y comercial disponible, el Servicio Federal de Pesca y Vida Silvestre está finalizando la designación de la mariposa arlequín de Puerto Rico como especie amenazada en virtud de la Ley Federal de Especies en Peligro de Extinción (ESA, por sus siglas en inglés). El Servicio también está designando aproximadamente 41,266 acres de hábitat crítico para esta especie, así como un reglamento 4(d) bajo el ESA que adopta protecciones para la mariposa mientras permite actividades que no perjudiquen su recuperación. 

¿Por qué el Servicio designa la mariposa arlequín de Puerto Rico como una especie amenazada?  

Actualmente se conocen seis poblaciones de la mariposa arlequín, cada una generalmente de tamaño pequeño, con menos de 50 individuos adultos observados en un año determinado. Relacionado a condiciones históricas, la distribución de la mariposa está fragmentada entre remanentes de bosque nativo ubicados en el noroeste y centro de Puerto Rico. 

La modificación, fragmentación, y perdida de hábitat causadas por el desarrollo urbano y prácticas agrícolas, son las razones principales razones de la disminución de esta mariposa y las amenazas a su existencia continua. Otras amenazas que afectan la mariposa incluyen incendios inducidos por el humano, pesticidas, herbicidas y fungicidas aplicados incorrectamente, y la tala de vegetación nativa. El tamaño pequeño de las poblaciones de esta especie, exacerbado por las amenazas causadas por el humano, así como la reducción en su rango de distribución y la falta de conectividad, también amenazan la mariposa arlequín. El cambio climático también se considera una amenaza futura para la especie, con aumento de las temperaturas, sequías y frecuencia e intensidad de tormentas proyectadas para Puerto Rico. 

¿Como el ESA define el hábitat crítico?  

El ESA define el hábitat crítico como las áreas geográficas específicas que contienen características esenciales para la conservación de una especie amenazada o en peligro de extinción que pueden requerir una gestión y protección especiales. El hábitat crítico también puede incluir áreas que actualmente no están ocupadas por la especie pero que serán necesarias para su recuperación.  

El establecimiento de un hábitat crítico para la mariposa alertará a las agencias Federales de que deben llevar a cabo esfuerzos especiales de conservación para la especie cuando trabajan, financian o permiten actividades en estas áreas. La designación de hábitat crítico no tendrá impacto en acciones que se hagan en propiedades privadas que no requieren fondos o permisos Federales. 

¿Cómo el Servicio determina qué áreas designar como hábitat crítico? 

Dentro de las áreas ocupadas por la especie, los biólogos consideran los elementos físicos y biológicos necesarias para los procesos de la vida. Éstos incluyen: 

Espacio para el crecimiento individual y poblacional y para el comportamiento normal. 

Refugio o cobertura. 

Alimento, agua, aire, luz, minerales u otros requerimientos nutricionales o fisiológicos.  

Lugares de reproducción y crianza de progenie.  

Hábitats que están protegidos de perturbaciones o son representativos de las distribuciones geográficas y ecológicas históricas de una especie.  

Después de considerar las áreas ocupadas por la especie, los biólogos consideran áreas no ocupadas que pueden ser esenciales para la conservación de ésta. 

¿Cuál es la designación de hábitat crítico para la mariposa arlequín de Puerto Rico? 

El hábitat crítico para la mariposa arlequín de Puerto Rico se limita a las áreas ocupadas por la especie actualmente, incluyendo una zona de amortiguamiento de dos kilómetros alrededor de sus áreas de reproducción. En total, se están designando aproximadamente 41,266 acres: 56 % en propiedad privada; 39 % en propiedad o terrenos administrados por el Departamento de Recursos Naturales y Ambientales de Puerto Rico; y 5 % en propiedades de otras agencias (ej., municipios, otros). Dado que todo el hábitat crítico está actualmente ocupado por la especie, la mayoría o la totalidad de las protecciones o cambios en manejo serán los mismos que aquellos provistos para la conservación de la especie bajo el ESA. En Maricao, gran parte de este hábitat se comparte con lugares que ya están designados como hábitat crítico para otra especie, como la reinita del bosque enano. 

Las unidades de hábitat críticos se encuentran en los municipios de Isabela, Quebradillas, Camuy, Arecibo, Utuado, Florida, Ciales, Maricao, San Germán, Sabana Grande y Yauco. El siguiente mapa muestra dónde están ubicadas dichas unidades.

¿Qué es un reglamento 4(d)? ¿Por qué se está implementando esto para la mariposa arlequín de Puerto Rico?  

Para las especies amenazadas, el Servicio usa la flexibilidad provista bajo la sección 4(d) del ESA para adaptar prohibiciones de afectar la especie a aquellas necesarias y aconsejables para la conservación de la especie. Este enfoque específico ayuda a reducir las cargas regulatorias al eximir ciertas actividades que no dañan significativamente la especie, o que son beneficiosas, mientras enfoca los esfuerzos de conservación en las amenazas perjudiciales para su recuperación. 

¿Qué protecciones y prohibiciones especifica el reglamento 4(d) para la mariposa arlequín de Puerto Rico?  

El reglamento 4(d) incluye todas las prohibiciones y excepciones estándar para actividades de conservación de agencias Federales y del Estado Libre Asociado de Puerto Rico. El Servicio también incluye excepciones para la captura incidental asociada con las siguientes actividades: (1) prácticas agrícolas normales, incluido el uso de pesticidas que se lleva a cabo de conformidad con las reglamentaciones existentes, siguiendo los requisitos de permisos y etiquetas, y las mejores prácticas de manejo, siempre que las prácticas no incluyen talar o perturbar bosques o la planta hospedera de la mariposa, Oplonia spinosa, para crear o expandir áreas agrícolas, o aplicar pesticidas en o contiguo al hábitat que se sabe que ocupa la mariposa arlequín de Puerto Rico; (2) actividades residenciales y urbanas normales, como cortar el césped, desmalezar, podar y fertilizar; (3) mantenimiento de senderos recreativos en los bosques del Estado Libre Asociado de Puerto Rico; (4) actividades de manejo o restauración del hábitat que se espera brinden un beneficio a la mariposa arlequín de Puerto Rico; (5) remoción de basureros clandestinos, que a menudo son la fuente de incendios provocados intencionalmente; y (6) captura de la mosca fruteras por parte del Servicio Federal de Inspección de Sanidad Animal y Vegetal del Departamento de Agricultura de los Estados Unidos. 

¿Cuándo será final este reglamento?   

El reglamento que finaliza listar la mariposa arlequín de Puerto Rico, designar su hábitat crítico y el reglamento 4(d), entrara en vigencia el 3 de enero de 2023.
