mewithoutYou are a band hailing from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA who formed in 2000. Over their five studio albums they are known for their brand of experimental post-hardcore featuring literate, spoken lyrics concerning spiritual themes and lacerating, dense guitar rock.
It kind of makes sense that mewithoutYou were originally conceived as a side-project. That’s not a swipe at them by any means; I just mean that mewithoutYou are a band completely uninterested in conforming to any expectation set to them by label or fan. They seem like the kind of band formed to experiment with every genre that the Weiss Brothers, Aaron and Michael, feel like exploring and for that reason, it’s an absolute joy to see that they’ve become one of the most respected cult acts in American rock.
The Weiss brothers originally fronted a band called The Operation, along with the bands current bassist Greg Jehanian. However, their brand of hard rock didn’t call for much experimentation, and the frontmen teamed up with bassist Ray Tadeo, guitarist Christopher Kleinberg, and drummer Richard Mazzotta to form mewithoutYou as an outlet for their more experimental tendencies. However, the new band were so good that after a few live shows and the release of their first E.P “I Never Said I Was Brave”, they were snapped up by the label that gives Christian rock a good name, Tooth and Nail Records.
When they signed to Tooth And Nail, The Operation officially disbanded so that its members could focus on their new band full time. By 2002 the band had released their debut album, “A→B Life”, however, it wasn’t until the 2004 release of their second effort “Catch Us For The Foxes” that they started to get some very serious attention, leading to tours with everyone from Thursday to Coheed And Cambria.
Since then they’ve diverted from their own norm with the release of their fourth album “It’s All Crazy! It’s All False! It’s All A Dream! It’s Alright.”. A sumptuous folk-rock album with Aaron Weiss actually singing his lyrics for most of the album, and they’ve even been gaining famous fans in the form of Paramore’s very own Hayley Williams, who guested on their 2012 album “Ten Stories”. They’re a few bands like them around, and it shows in the absolutely devoted following they’ve gained around the world. They’re at the top of their game, and are a band to see as soon as possible.
Live reviews
Seeing mewithoutYou live at the Troubadour literally changed my life. When they walked on stage, the energy of the entire venue shifted. The audience united, becoming one massive, ravenous organism whose hunger could be satiated only by the sweet, sweet sounds produced by mewithoutYou. And mewithoutYou knew it. They were extremely entertaining, throwing flowers into the crowd and jumping around and playing like it was their divine purpose. After going to that show, I'm convinced that it is. If you're debating whether or not you should buy those tickets, stop. Stop, look in the mirror, and take a good, long look. Ponder the question: should I attend a mewithoutYou show?
Then punch yourself in the face for asking such a stupid question. OF COURSE you should go. Get the tickets. Right now. Go.

Best concert I've ever been to - I'm a bit biased since they are my favorite, but it was nothing short of amazing. The band was so high energy, and afterwards they stayed to talk to everyone. I talked to each band member one-on-one for at least 10 minutes each. Definitely wouldn't pass up an opportunity to see them.
Aaron was a maniac on stage. Dude sang his heart out! The rest of the guys were phenomenal as well. They sounded fantastic: raw and loud. People were moshing and crowd surfing the whole time, it was so fun. The energy did not stop until the lights came on. Incredible show.
Love this band! Second time seeing them. I wish they played Goodbye, I. Will keep going to their shows until I hear that song played live. The crowd was awesome. I was disappointed not to see Foxing open, though. But Lithuania was very gracious about the whole situation.
Excellent show! They played the entire Catch for Us the Foxes album (10 year anniversary tour) plus an 8 song encore with samples from all their previous albums... including all the spider songs. Great fan service, high energy. Tons of fun. 10/10 would go again.
such an entertaining group high energy-did not disappoint! i didnt actually come to see them but after hearing how well they play live i am absolutely loving their albums just as much!

Few bands are as unique and unforgettable as mewithoutYou. Since its formation in 2001, the Philadelphia-based band has captivated audiences with its experimental brand of post-hardcore rock.
Aaron and Michael Weiss initially cut their hard rock teeth as frontmen of The Operation before launching a side project to experiment with new sounds. With Aaron Weiss taking up vocals and guitar, Michael Weiss tackling guitar and backing vocals, the beginning of what would become mewithoutYou was formed.
Along with bassist Ray Tadeo, guitarist Christopher Kleinberg, and drummer Richard Mazzotta, the group caught Christian record label Tooth & Nail's attention with their raw appeal and signed a deal. Daniel Pishock replaced Tadeo on bass before The Operation disbanded, allowing the musicians to focus full-time on mewithoutYou.
Hailed as genre-defining -- though they've resisted any categorization -- their spoken word vocals, divergent arrangements and palpable energy have vastly influenced the underground music scene. Their unique sound has inspired a new generation of emo, post-hardcore, indie and experimental rock bands.
Over the years, the band has moved from the more straightforward emo/punk of their early releases to the more experimental and atmospheric sound of their later albums. This evolution is indicative of their emphasis on growth and development. Across their discography, they have always put a premium on evolving themselves.
Introspective and personal and dealing with complex topics like religion, relationships and mental illness, Weiss' lyrics resonate long after the song is over, and they offer a rare glimpse into the complex inner workings of the human heart. The sometimes cryptic and almost always existentially poetic verse is often inspired by literature, theology and personal experiences.
When you bring the music and words together, it makes for a surreal, thought-provoking and heartbreaking catalog, the likes of which only mewithoutYou could create.
From their earliest releases, mewithoutYou has shown a willingness to push boundaries and experiment with new sounds and styles. This willingness to take risks has made them one of their generation's most innovative and exciting bands and further cemented their reputation as one of the most original and inspiring bands around.
Known for energetic and engaging live performances, mewithoutYou is a band you'll want to experience in person. Get tickets to see mewithoutYou on tour today at Ticketmaster.
One of the best live experiences I’ve had at a show. I’ll miss you
Great band in a great venue
mewithoutYou's farewell tour has not disappointed. So much energy from the band and the crowd. They played songs from their entire catalog. My first time at Baltimore Soundstage. Very nice venue, would definitely see another show there.
This show felt like the culmination of a live music career where this band would continually leave it all on the stage and yet they found more to leave out there. It's sad to see them go, but few artists get to go out on their terms and it was a wonderful adventure every time I got to see them.
Farewell (for now)
I’ve loved mewithoutYou for many years. I haven’t made it to all their shows but when they announced a farewell tour I knew I had to see them one last time. They played an amazing set with songs spreading their entire career. This band sits in a spot not many others can share. I enjoyed the diversity of their farewell set; a show I’ll remember fondly for years to come. I sincerely hope this isn’t the last we’ll hear from this one of a kind indie legend. Shall they fulfill the lyrics, “ I said I’d not come back, but I’m coming back…” Only time will tell.
The venue was neat. The band was great. They played a good mix of their early and late work. I also enjoyed the guest vocals by Hayley and Jeremy. Good job guys.
This band has such positive, infectious (in a good way) energy! They always deliver an excellent experience.
Transcendent
God what a show, I wept, lost my voice, caught a flower from Aaron. Beautiful encore. Just an incredible show.
Phenomenal Farewell Show
The show was top notch. The bands played their hearts out, the venue was beautiful, and the sound was fantastic. If you have a chance to see them on their last ever run, get that ticket now!
somewhat disappointed
The band was great but the sound engineer (if you can even call him that) sucked, and the house speakers are weak. The first song wasn't too bad but after that the bass levels became blured, there ceased to be any detail or delineation between the bass guitar, bass drum, and floor toms. To top it off the house speakers were actually distorting because the levels were so high. I have seen shows in the most low budget places and have never experienced this. This show goes into the books as one of only a few times that the sound was this bad. Whoever was manning the station should be fired. I think this will be the first and last time I got to a show at the Regent.
A heartfelt goodbye.
I discovered them by chance at Tower Records sale bin when they were closing circa 2007. Brother sister broke my heart and taught me more about love, forgiveness, and depression than anything else in life. Thank you for showing me everything that life is for meWithoutyou. I will never forget each breath. God speed you pioneers.

mewithoutYou
It is no mistake that mewithoutYou have become one of today’s most fascinating experimental rock acts. The last 15 years have borne witness to the Philadelphia five-piece exercising stylistic evolutions and aerial dynamics with humbling dexterity and untamed ambition. At their roots may be a theatrical progressive punk/post-hardcore band, but they’ve never been content to remain comfortably within a familiar genre. Their continuous multi-directional movements have left them increasingly difficult to classify, the growth of their branches impossible to predict. The group’s sixth full-length album, Pale Horses , is the best evidence to date of their eclectic agility.
The one constant in mewithoutYou’s storied career has been lead singer Aaron Weiss’ ability to sketch ornate, thought-provoking narratives. Seamlessly weaving his signature holler amidst whispered storytelling and stream-of-consciousness outpourings, his latest offerings vacillate between the emotionally wracked, vibrantly symbolic, and ambiguously metaphysical. His meandering, technicolor vision of a world apocalyptic—populated with werewolves and vulturemen, shape-shifters and apparitions, android whales and an Idaho bride—combines the fantastic opulence of the group’s recent albums with the vulnerable personal confessions of their earliest work.
Longtime band-mates Mike Weiss, Rickie Mazzotta and Greg Jehanian continue to craft dramatic, nightmare soundscapes which lavishly complement their singer’s ecstatic hallucinations. The addition of Brandon Beaver (of Buried Beds, the Silver Ages) allows the group as a 5-piece to revisit its earlier intricate, layered fretwork, while adding new depths of vocal harmonies and ever-peculiar arrangements. Musically, the group hearkens boldly to the raw intensity of 2004’s Catch for Us the Foxes , while building on the rich imagery of 2006’s Brother, Sister . Epic in scope, Pale Horses is mewithoutYou at their best, breathing fresh life into the end times, gloriously terrifying and hauntingly iconic.
Their latest album also marks a new beginning for the band, as it’s their first to be released on Run for Cover Records. Teaming with the rising Boston independent label was the outgrowth of their partnership with Will Yip, whose masterful production transforms the band’s transcendental musings into a widescreen experience. Drums and bass lines quake with the faults of the earth, as an army of guitars and multi-instrumental nuances ring in the paranoia, mass hysteria and peaceful exaltation. The result is a stunning collage—fitfully disturbing, steadily bizarre, uniquely celebratory—undoubtedly the grandest musical adventure yet conceived within mewithoutYou’s expanding tapestry.

Nightwish's Floor Jansen releases soul-stirring new single Me Without You
Nightwish frontwoman Floor Jansen shares her third solo single, Me Without You
Nightwish's Floor Jansen has returned with another solo single, titled Me Without You.
The new track follows the frontwoman's previously-released pop-orientated offerings, Storm and Fire.
Me Without You eases into view with a low-key yet dramatic verse before crescendoing into a powerful chorus, borne aloft by Jansen's towering vocals.
Earlier this year, the Dutch vocal powerhouse revealed her plans to release only singles, rather than a full album, until her current commitments with her band Nightwish are complete.
In an interview with Face Culture she said: "There are a lot more songs ready. There's not an album ready, but also because it would make no sense to have one.
"Due to the pandemic, there's an entire Nightwish [album] still not done and still yet to be done; as it looks like, we actually are gonna do that now.
"So before that, I cannot say, 'Okay, I come [out] with a solo album.' 'Cause then you also would like to do some more [solo] shows and do the right promotion and all of that, so there's no time for that — which is a luxury problem on itself. But it's fun. And that's also a big difference with this pop music thing — you can release singles. It's not an album-based world; it's completely different."

Jennifer Lopez rebrands 2024 tour as greatest hits concert after canceling dates
The singer nixed several accompanying show dates due to a logistical error, EW previously learned.
Weeks after canceling several tour dates due to a logistical error, Jennifer Lopez has rebranded her upcoming 2024 This Is Me... Now tour as a career-spanning celebration titled This Is Me... Live: The Greatest Hits.
"Come dance the night away at This Is Me…LIVE this Summer," Lopez wrote on Instagram alongside a video montage highlighting her past singles and notable film appearances, from "Love Don't Cost a Thing" to Selena .
“Who knew that this girl right here, singing for my family, performing around my city and following my passion, would take me places I could never have imagined,” Lopez says in the clip, also calling the performances "a celebration for all of us" on the road. “No matter what, I’m just the girl I’ve always been, with the love that drives me to share my story on stage like I always have.”
Some reports initially suggested that the tour's promotion shifted to include more of Lopez's discography due to low ticket sales, but Entertainment Weekly has learned that the singer made no changes to the planned setlist or the content of the show itself, and that the tour was always intended to be a celebration of Lopez's career rather than just highlight her recent This Is Me... Now album and its accompanying movie, This Is Me...Now: A Love Story .
EW has reached out to representatives for Lopez for comment.

In March, Lopez canceled tour dates spanning Aug. 22-30, including stops in Nashville, Atlanta, Tampa, New Orleans, and Raleigh, N.C.
Like its predecessor — her 2002 album, This Is Me... Then — the sequel This Is Me... Now chronicles Lopez's love life, in particular her marriage to actor Ben Affleck following their previous separation.
Though the accompanying Amazon Original streaming movie made headlines and was one of the platform's most-watched titles the week of its release, This Is Me... Now the album spent only one week on the Billboard 200 albums chart, at No. 38, despite reaching No. 1 on the Top Album Sales chart.
