Last month NF returned with the stirring new single “HOPE” ( NF Real Music/Virgin Music ). The song finds  the multi-Platinum hitmaker at his most raw and unfiltered as he assesses his musical journey thus far and looks to the future. Hope is accompanied by a suitably uplifting visual, which captures the MC’s defiance and authenticity. Watch it HERE .

Next up is NF’s facetious “MOTTO”, of which The New York Times says, “in his early career, NF sounded as if he was internalizing all the pressures of the world, but now he sounds free and calm, dismissing those same pressures with a shrug.” Watch the pointed video HERE.

HOPE   is the fifth studio album from the Billboard chart-topping, multi-platinum artist. Known for rapping quick-witted lyrics over hip hop beats and cinematic production, NF has built an obsessively loyal fanbase that has earned him over 30 billion global streams and established NF as one of the most consumed artists today. NF’s  HOPE  is a 13-track album boasting instant hits, such as “HAPPY”, “MOTTO” and notable Grammy-nominated features with singer/songwriter Julia Michaels on “GONE,” and rapper Cordae on “CAREFUL”.

NF raps with raw grit and emotional authenticity, born of a lifetime of taking hits and getting back up again. He’s earned 39 RIAA certifications,14 Platinum plaques, and 5 multi-Platinum honors. This success stems from genuine fan-fueled momentum — connecting directly with fans in an authentic way.

His intimate yet propulsive tracks received two consecutive No. 1 albums on the Billboard 200 with Perception and The Search. Often silent on self-promotion and social media, NF’s massive achievements come straight from his music and lyrics resonating with fans. As Forbes noted, “NF’s success speaks to what can be done these days outside of the traditional system, proving that with his strong fan base and his incredible drive, the success of NF is a true testament to his status as a talent in the hip hop world.”

Nate Feuerstein came of age in Michigan, using music as both escape and expression, a way to channel his pain. Through the years, he’s demonstrated the power of vulnerability on hits like “Let You Down” and “The Search.” In 2015, he signed with Capitol Records; thus setting the stage to climb to rap dominance beginning with his album, Mansion followed by Therapy Session in 2016 and Perception in 2017, which debuted at No. 1 and eventually went 2x Platinum. In 2019, he dropped The Search, which also hit No. 1 and went Platinum. His 2021 project CLOUDS (THE MIXTAPE), an inward-looking mixtape, again connected deeply with listeners, debuting within the top three on Billboard’s Top 200 Albums Chart and Top R&B/Hip Hop Albums Chart.

Today, NF has tipped into global dominance having generated 30 billion streams and worldwide touring that has sold over half a million tickets to date. Emerging from a year of no new releases yet remaining one of the most consumed artists in the world, NF announces his forthcoming fifth studio album, HOPE.

About Cordae:

Cordae knows exactly what he wants to say. He chooses his words and phrases carefully. He speaks from a place of truth. That’s why the two-time GRAMMY® Award-nominated gold-selling Maryland-raised rapper has quietly become one of the modern generation’s most trusted narrators. A remarkable life has given him a lot to say. He went from trailer parks and public housing with his mom to stratospheric success. After a series of buzzing singles, he reached critical mass with his 2019 full-length debut, The Lost Boy. It bowed in the Top 15 of the Billboard Top 200 and included four gold-certified singles— “RNP” [feat. Anderson .Paak], “Have Mercy,” “Broke As Fuck,” and “Kung Fu.” Beyond unanimous praise from Billboard, Complex, High Snobiety, New York Times, Pitchfork, and Stereogum, he garnered a pair of GRAMMY® Award nominations in the categories of “Best Rap Album” for The Lost Boy and “Best Rap Song” for “Bad Idea” [feat. Chance the Rapper].

He’s the rare artist whose presence can be felt on-screen in a Super Bowl commercial alongside legendary Academy® Award-winning director Martin Scorsese and among XXL’s coveted “Freshman Class.” Along the way, he linked up with Roddy Ricch and Ant Clemons for “Gifted” as well as joining forces with Eminem for “Killer.” Absorbing wisdom from a life-changing trip to Africa, enduring the loss of a friend gone too soon, and evolving as an artist and a man, he tells this story in widescreen technicolor on his 2022 second full-length offering, From A Birds Eye View [ART@WAR/Atlantic Records]. Cordae followed up the release of his sophomore album with the Facebook exclusive premiere of his visual only, From A Birds Eye View (Live) album. This past summer, he debuted his first TED Talk entitled “The Hi-Level Mindset” which has accumulated over 1.4M views. He continued his takeover of 2022 with a flurry of releases and collaborations. From the release of his Unacceptable EP and the accompanying visuals from both singles, to his recent collab with Hit-Boy on their “Checkmate” track from the Madden NFL 2023 Soundtrack, Cordae is showing no signs of slowing down.

Earlier albums The Search and Perception , which topped the Billboard 200, are now certified 2x Platinum while the 2017 single “Let You Down” is 8x Platinum.

Clash Music praised HOPE as an “often thrilling return” and “perhaps his most personal document yet.” The album features guest appearances by Cordae on “ CAREFUL ”  and Julia Michaels on “ GONE .” The New York Times spotlighted “MOTTO,” and noted, “in his early career, NF sounded as if he was internalizing all the pressures of the world, but now he sounds free and calm, dismissing those same pressures with a shrug.” Praising the “soul-baring highlight” “ HAPPY ,” NME said, “he documents his ongoing mental health journey with brutal, utterly unbridled honesty.” As part of the “NME In Conversation” series, NF delves into a wide range of topics that include HOPE , fatherhood and collaborating with Julia Michaels . channel his pain. Through the years, he’s demonstrated the power of vulnerability on hits like the 8x Platinum “Let You Down” and “The Search.” In 2015, he signed with Capitol Records; thus setting the stage to climb to rap dominance beginning with his album, Mansion followed by Therapy Session in 2016 and Perception in 2017, which debuted at No. 1 and eventually went 2x Platinum. In 2019, he dropped The Search , which also hit No. 1 and went 2x Platinum. His 2021 project CLOUDS (THE MIXTAPE), an inward-looking mixtape, again connected deeply with listeners, debuting within the top three on Billboard's Top 200 Albums Chart and Top R&B/Hip Hop Albums Chart.

Today, NF has tipped into global dominance having generated 30 billion streams and worldwide touring that has sold over half a million tickets to date. Emerging from a year of no new releases yet remaining one of the most consumed artists in the world, NF has released his fifth studio album, HOPE .

Shohei Ohtani’s Arrival Brings Hope and Nostalgia Home to Little Tokyo

For a Los Angeles community contending with gentrification in its historic center and an aging population of cultural standard-bearers, Ohtani’s accession with the Dodgers has been galvanizing.

nf hope tour info

By Jill Cowan

Jill Cowan reported from Los Angeles. Her Japanese American grandfather was a Dodgers fan.

Shohei Ohtani’s powerful arms and boyish face, looking up from under a Dodger blue helmet, loom 15 stories over Los Angeles’s Little Tokyo neighborhood from the side of the Miyako Hotel.

Unveiled in late March, it’s one of many tributes to baseball’s two-way supernova that have appeared across Los Angeles since he signed with the Dodgers in December. The record-breaking deal pushed Ohtani into the next stratosphere of celebrity, even among sportsmen and even in a town bursting with the rich and famous.

A player that good and that sought after tends to be claimed by most baseball fans , but none more than those with roots in his home country, Japan, where he has been called “a being above the clouds.” The Little Tokyo mural is larger than life, much like Ohtani’s monumental stature among Japanese Americans in Los Angeles.

Baseball has, for more than a century and a half, been a bridge between the United States and Japan, since an American educator from Maine introduced the sport to his students at an academy in Tokyo in 1872. And in Los Angeles, home to one of the nation’s biggest and oldest Japanese American enclaves, rooting for the Dodgers is a cherished tradition. And for a community contending with gentrification in its historic center and an aging population of cultural standard-bearers, Ohtani’s arrival was a galvanizing moment.

Now, though, as the Dodgers play their first home series of the season, an unfolding gambling scandal with Ohtani near its center has felt like a rainout.

“It’s definitely not the way I wanted to start with him coming to his new team,” said Rick Izumi, 63, a Japanese American Angeleno whose early memories include seeing Don Drysdale pitch for the Dodgers in the 1960s and his father falling asleep on the couch to Dodgers games on the radio. “It’s the talk of the family.”

Earlier in March, while the Dodgers were opening the regular season in Seoul , the team abruptly announced that Ohtani’s longtime interpreter and close friend, Ippei Mizuhara, had been fired by the club following reports from ESPN and The Los Angeles Times that payments with Ohtani’s name on them had been made to an illegal bookmaker who was under federal investigation. Initially, Mizuhara said that Ohtani had made the payments willingly to help him out of at least $4.5 million worth of gambling debt. But then Ohtani’s representatives said he had been the victim of theft, and Mizuhara disavowed his prior account.

On Monday, Ohtani made a statement saying that he had never bet on sports and that Mizuhara “has been stealing money from my account and has told lies.” Investigations, by Major League Baseball and the I.R.S., are underway, and questions remain .

Naturally, group chats among the Dodgers faithful have shifted from the disappointing first outing by the rookie Japanese pitcher Yoshinobu Yamamoto to other matters.

Mr. Izumi said he had been comparing theories with friends who are lawyers and asking his mother, who lives nearby, how the story has been covered on NHK, the Japanese broadcast network that is a favorite among Nisei, or older, second-generation Japanese Americans who are more likely to speak Japanese.

“I’m sure they’re following it every minute of the day,” he said.

Ohtani, 29, has been closely watched since he emerged as a high school baseball prodigy in Iwate, Japan. He jumped from the Japanese professional league to the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim in 2018, being named the American League rookie of the year and never looking back.

Ohtani entered free agency last November, setting off a weekslong frenzy among teams and fans before he signed a staggering $700 million , 10-year contract with the Dodgers, a glamour franchise in an A-list city with a vast, passionate and diverse fan base. (The Angels, while a Los Angeles team at least in name, play in Orange County, well outside the city proper, and lack the Dodgers’ storied history and larger fan base.)

Ohtani became the 11th Japanese player to wear a Dodgers uniform and Yamamoto the 12th. To Japanese American fans and baseball historians, Ohtani’s career marks the pinnacle of a long history. After baseball was introduced in Japan in 1872, tapping into a culture that prizes discipline and technique over raw strength and speed, its popularity exploded there.

So, by the time thousands of Americans of Japanese descent were imprisoned in remote concentration camps during World War II, baseball was already an integral part of many of their lives. In the camps, the sport was a literal pastime — and a way of performing Americanness for a government that had aimed suspicion at a group determined to prove its loyalty.

By 1964, parallel tracks of baseball in Japan and Japanese American baseball merged with the arrival of Masanori Murakami , a Japanese pitcher who played briefly for the San Francisco Giants. He had no interpreter and spoke little English at first; Japanese American farming families in Fresno, Calif., where he started on a minor league team, helped Murakami get by, said Kristen Hayashi, a curator at the Japanese American National Museum in Little Tokyo, and a Dodgers fan.

That was the beginning of a lineage of Japanese major league stars: Hideo Nomo, a pitcher for the Dodgers in the 1990s, and then Ichiro Suzuki, a beloved Seattle Mariner. Kenta Maeda and Yu Darvish are popular players today. But Ohtani, hailed for both his hitting and his pitching, is on another level.

“To go from baseball being introduced to Japan 150 years ago, to segregated leagues to now the face of baseball is a Japanese player, I mean, that’s huge,” Ms. Hayashi said. “I can’t wait to see what he does over the next 10 years.”

Dan Kwong, 69, a multidisciplinary artist, has for over 50 years played for the Little Tokyo Giants, part of a Japanese American baseball league with roots in the concentration camps, including Manzanar, where his mother was incarcerated.

He recalled seeing Nomo on the big screen at a Dodgers game in 1995 as a “mind-boggling experience.”

“To hear this stadium of people cheering madly for an Asian man in a Dodgers uniform — that was my dream,” he said. “It just blew my mind.”

Mr. Kwong said that he had felt something similar as the “Shotime” (Ohtani’s nickname) phenomenon has swept over Los Angeles — pride, excitement.

Mr. Kwong is among the Angelenos who are holding out hope that Ohtani will make a small effort to join the community that has embraced him.

They hope the star will visit the Japanese American National Museum to learn about what baseball meant to Japanese Americans who were unfairly removed from their homes, stripped, in many cases, of property and businesses because of their ethnicity. They hope he will browse gift shops that have for generations sold sturdy Japanese paper goods and ceramics and grab sushi at restaurants where chefs have built decades-long relationships with fish vendors.

Maybe, they hope, Ohtani might even make time to greet fans at the Nisei Week parade, the highlight of an annual summer festival celebrating Japanese culture, which has been taking place for more than eight decades.

The community, they say, could benefit from a high-profile booster: While on the surface, Little Tokyo is thriving, with crowds thronging its plazas on weekends, many small legacy businesses have closed in recent years, replaced by chains or white-owned businesses selling Japanese-inspired accessories and treats. Many shopkeepers are retiring without employees to replace them.

Nationally, the Japanese American population is growing at a rate much slower than other Asian American groups; the number of people who identify as Japanese alone, as opposed to multiracial, actually decreased by 3 percent between 2010 and 2020 — the results of broad demographic trends and dwindling immigration from Japan.

“I would love to see him get involved with the community, but I don’t know if that’s too much to hope for, since he’s such a big superstar,” said Kristin Fukushima, 36, who is managing director of the Little Tokyo Community Council. “I can also understand now, with the public eye and maybe even some trust broken when it comes to letting new folks into his sphere — maybe that’s not on the horizon.”

Ms. Fukushima said she, like all Dodgers fans, had been talking and thinking nonstop about the gambling situation involving Ohtani’s former interpreter. But she is optimistic that the ordeal is a hiccup at the start of Ohtani’s long career as a Dodger.

“I think he’d find a lot of really warm, welcoming, open arms,” she said. “And support.”

An earlier version of this article misstated where Shohei Ohtani went to high school. It was in Iwate, Japan, not Hokkaido.

Moscow Metro

Introduction of moscow subway system (metro).

Richly Decorated Central Hall of Novokuznetskaya Station

Nowadays the Moscow Metro has 12 lines, light subway and monorail. All stations are unique and beautiful in their own way. Unfortunately, in order to visit them all, you need to spend many days. I invite guests to visit the ones that have the greatest cultural and historical interest from my point of view. Among them are the Revolution Square, Arbatskaya, Kievskaya (Arbatsko-Pokrovskaya Line № 3); Kievskaya, Belarusskaya, Novoslobodskaya, Komsomolskaya (the Ring line number 5). Let us dwell a bit on each.

Arbatsko-Pokrovskaya Line

Subway station "revolution square".

Sign “Ploshchad Revolyutsii” in Archway with Bronze Figures

Most recently - in the year 2008-2010 – the Eastern lobby was renovated. Because of the terrorist attacks in the Moscow subway that took place several hours before the planned opening of the East lobby after renovation, the solemn part of the event was canceled.

Subway station Arbatskaya

Subway Arbatskaya is located on the same subway line as the station "Revolution Square." It was founded in 1953. It received the name in honor of the Arbat Street. It has one ground lobby (Western). Initially, the lobby was in a separate building, but the new building of the General Staff of the Ministry of Defense started, the lobby appeared to be in its atrium. The old exits were bricked up; a new entrance was built into the building of General Staff of the street Vozdvizhenka. There is a huge frame with a missing portrait in the ground lobby - until mid-1950 there was a portrait of Stalin. According to some reports, it survived, but closed with plaster.

The lobby was restored and partially reconstructed in 2007-2008.

The depth of the station is 41 meters.

Pylons are finished with red marble at the bottom, decorated with bouquets of flowers made from ceramics. The floor is laid out with gray granite. The walls lined with glazed ceramic tiles, white top and black bottom. The station hall is illuminated by massive bronze chandeliers in the form of rings.

Subway station Kievskaya

There are several subway stations "Kievskaya" in Moscow, located on different branches. This name is quite popular. It comes from the capital of Ukraine - one of Russia's nearest neighbors - the city of Kiev. The name is fully consistent with the idea of the subway station. The interior the station devoted to Soviet Ukraine and the reunification of Ukraine and Russia. The station is decorated with a large number of paintings .Twenty four murals depicting workers of Soviet Ukraine are placed on the arch above the pylons. The wall from the side of platform also contains frescos, mainly with images of fantastic plants. Pylons are decorated with light marble and additionally decorated with colorful ceramic cornice. The butt of the station has a large mosaic, depicting festivities to celebrate the 300 anniversary of the reunification of Ukraine and Russia.

Opened in 1953, this subway station for a long time was the final (1953-2003).

The station has one lobby, combined with the station ring line and located in the building of the Kievskaya railway station. The diameter of the central hall station is 9.5 m, the diameter of side one is 8.5 m. The depth of the station is 38 meters.

= Ring Line Subway =

It opened in 1954. The station received its name after the Kiev station, and locked the Ring line. During the construction of the station many projects were proposed, but the victory in the competition won the Kiev architects who made the construction of the station. It is the only station of the Ring Line which is not located in the Central Administrative District of Moscow.

The station has a pylon structure. Eighteen pylons are decorated with mosaic panels of glazes, decorated on the theme of Ukrainian history and friendship between the Ukrainian and Russian peoples, which started in the mid-17 century.

On the front wall of the central hall of the station a large panel with molding in the form of flags and a mosaic portrait of Lenin in the center are located. There are lines of the Soviet national anthem around the portrait, and under the portrait - the words of Lenin. One of the ways out of the station was designed by French architects modeled on the Paris Subway in 2006.

At one of the mosaics – “The Struggle for Soviet power in Ukraine "- modern passengers observe a mobile phone and PDA in the hand of one of the guerrillas, and on his knees - a laptop. In fact, he uses a field telephone, which was really a heavy thing (guerrillas holds it in two hands), and thing that people see a laptop is the lid of a box with a telephone. However, these phones have begun to produce only in the second half of the 20-ies of XX century. We must assume that the mosaic depicts a foreign field telephone transmitter.

Subway station Belorusskaya

The founded of the station was in 1952. It received the name after the Belarusian railway station nearby. The station has two ground-based lobbies. The Western one goes to Tverskaya  Zastava. It is decorated with beautiful carvings. The Eastern one leads to Butyrskiy shaft and Forest Street. The Eastern lobby is known for its majolica panels.

The station Belorusskaya is located at a depth of 42.5 m below ground. The diameter of the central hall is 9.5 meters.

Pylons are faced with light marble. The walls lined with white ceramic tiles, the floor is covered with ceramic tiles, gray, white and red colors. Lamps placed on pylons, in the form of vases made of glass and marble. The theme of decoration is economy and culture of Belarus. Decorative pattern on the floor repeats the theme of traditional Belarusian embroidery. Decorations of the ceiling consist of stucco decorations and 12 mosaic panels depicting the life of the Belarusian people.

Subway station Novoslobodskaya

Built in 1952, Subway station Novoslobodskaya got its name from the eponymous street:  the station is located at the very beginning of it.

Novoslobodskaya is pylon station of deep foundation (its depth is 40 m) with three arches.

Exit to the street is through the ground lobby with column portico, located on Novoslobodskaya Street lined with gray marble. Pylons of the underground station are faced with marble from the Urals. Thirty two spectacularly illuminated stained-glasses, placed inside the pylon and bordered by steel and gilt brass are splendid decoration of the station. A remarkable mosaic "World Peace" is located at the end of the central hall. The picture depicts a happy mother with a baby in her arms; it was the face of Stalin at the picture: the child gave a hand to him. But in times of Khrushchev the face of the former leader of USSR was removed from the panel. The walls are lined with bright marble; floor is covered with white and black granite slabs, placed in a checkerboard pattern.

Subway station Komsomolskaya

The station was built in 1952 and named in honor of the Komsomolskaya Square, which is situated nearby.

This subway station is the station of the deep bedding. Its depth is 37 meters. The station has column and three- arched design. Cast iron decoration is used in the construction, monolithic slab used as a tray for a collapsible finishing. The length of the boarding hall is 190 meters; width of it is 10 meters. There are 68 octagonal columns at station.

The main theme of the interior of the station is the fighting of the Russian people for their independence. The ceiling is decorated with eight station mosaic mural made from glazes and precious stones. Six of them represent the Alexander Nevsky, Dmitry Donskoy, Kuzma Minin and Dmitry Pozharsky, Alexander Suvorov and Mikhail Kutuzov, the Soviet soldiers and officers at the walls of the Reichstag.

Two other panels, depicting Stalin ("Victory Parade" and "Presentation of the Guards Banner"), were replaced after the dethronement of Stalin's personality cult in 1963. New panels depict Lenin's speech in front of the Red Guards and the Motherland on the background of the Kremlin's Spasskaya Tower.

The yellow ceiling is decorated with mosaic and moldings. The hall is illuminated by massive chandeliers hanging between the panels; platforms are illuminated with smaller chandeliers. The columns are decorated with marble capitals and trimmed with light marble, as well as the wall station. The floor is laid with pink granite. There is a bust of Lenin at the end of the hall. At the opposite end of the escalator is a large Florentine mosaic of the Order of Victory with red banners on the background. The ground lobby of the station is decorated with bas-reliefs.

In conclusion...

Each of the stations of the Moscow subway is attractive and interesting in its own way. Each has its own long and fascinating history and is beautifully decorated. The Moscow subway is a whole world, which can be talking about for hours. I suggest you short - no more than one hour and a half - and a fascinating journey through the world of the Moscow subway. The pleasure is guaranteed!
