Nita Strauss Books 26-Date North American Solo Tour With Lions at the Gate

It's a busy year for guitarist Nita Strauss , who returned to Alice Cooper 's band after a touring stint with pop star Demi Lovato and just announced a new batch of North American solo dates in support of her highly anticipated second album.

The 26-date trek will take place between Alice Cooper tours with support coming from special guest Lions at the Gate , which features former members of groove metal band Ill Nino . It all starts on June 13 in Nashville, Tennessee and will make its way through many areas of the United States as well as parts of Canada, coming to a close in New Orleans, Louisiana on July 14.

After the tour concludes, Strauss will have a bit of time away from the road before having to venture back out with Alice Cooper for a handful of dates in August that precede the rock legend's co-headlining jaunt with Rob Zombie and special guests Ministry and Filter .

Strauss' followup album to her 2018 solo debut,  Controlled Chaos , is expected to be released later this year. Since that album came out, Strauss has issued a number of singles — " Dead Inside " ft. Disturbed 's David Draiman (2021), " Summer Storm " and "The Wolf You Feed" ft. Arch Enemy 's Alissa White-Gluz (both 2022) and, earlier this year, "Winner Takes All" ft. Alice Cooper.

Speaking about the latest track in an interview with Full Metal Jackie, Strauss had this to say about working with Alice Cooper in a different capacity:

Alice was by far the easiest person to work with. Everybody we worked with on the artist side was a joy and incredible, but Alice in particular is so easy and he's such a pro. He treated me with total respect — the same way that I do when I'm playing his songs is how he approached my songs. It was amazing to get to work with him in this totally different capacity. I wrote some music for his upcoming record and now he's on my upcoming record. It's this whole new dynamic to a relationship that's been going on successfully for so long, so it was great.

Nita Strauss Announces 2023 North American Solo Tour

The guitar virtuoso is embarking on a month-long solo outing in between legs on Alice Cooper's tour

Nita Strauss recently rejoined Alice Cooper ’s touring band, but that’s not stopping her from continuing her rising solo career. The guitar virtuoso just announced a North American solo tour set to kick off next month.

The “Summer Storm” outing launches June 13th in Nashville, Tennessee, and runs through a July 14th show in New Orleans, featuring support from Lions at the Gate.

A Live Nation pre-sale for select cities begins Thursday (May 4th) at 10 a.m. local time via Ticketmaster using the code ICONIC, while general sales start on Friday (May 5th). Once the shows go on sale, fans can also check for deals or pick up tickets to sold-out gigs via StubHub , where your purchase is 100% guaranteed through StubHub’s Fan Protect program.

The guitarist has released a string of notable singles over the past couple years, including collaborations with Disturbed’s David Draiman ( “Dead Inside” ), Arch Enemy’s Alissa White-Gluz ( “The Wolf You Feed” ), and Alice Cooper himself ( “Winner Takes All” ).

Strauss’ solo run fits nicely in between Cooper’s tour dates. The legendary shock rocker is currently on a spring tour that runs through a May 20th gig at the Welcome to Rockville festival in Daytona Beach, Florida. After that, he’ll support Mötley Crüe and Def Leppard on a run of August dates before embarking on a co-headlining tour with Rob Zombie later that month. Nita Strauss is hitting the road this summer with her own solo project, and will be performing new material on the road.

The Summer Storm Tour is set to feature songs from her upcoming second solo album, as well as her previous hits. The tour will also include support from Lions at the Gate, a new metal band featuring former members of Ill Niño, and will kick off on 13 June in Nashville, Tennessee, and run through 14 July in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Strauss is also set to perform in cities such as Atlanta, Brooklyn, Toronto, Denver, Los Angeles and more on the tour.

Strauss is also a member of Alice Cooper’s touring band, which she rejoined earlier this year after a brief stint with pop star Demi Lovato. She will be performing with Cooper on select dates this spring and summer, including festivals such as Welcome to Rockville and co-headlining shows with Rob Zombie.

Cooper has also revealed that he has new music in the works with his touring band, sharing that he set one rule before the group began writing. “I said, ‘Everything has to be done in the studio live because the whole idea of this album is showing off how good this band is live.’ So when you hear this album, it sounds like a studio album, but it’s actually them playing live in the studio,” Cooper revealed, though he did not share any information on the record’s release date.

Strauss’ own debut solo album, Controlled Chaos, which was released in 2018, reached No. 1 on Billboard’s Heatseekers chart. For information about the Summer Storm Tour, head to Nita Strauss’ website .

Guitar Goddess Nita Strauss kicked off her Summer Storm tour on June 13, 2023 in Nashville. The long-time Alice Cooper guitarist is touring in anticipation of her second solo album, The Call of the Void , which releases on July 7.

As fans may or may not know, The Call of the Void will be half instrumental tracks and half vocal tracks, with Nita inviting some huge guest names to appear on the album including Alice Cooper, Lzzy Hale of Halestorm and Chris Motionless. But in order to perform the songs live she needed to reach out for a little help and found it in the form of guest vocalist Kasey Karlsen. Karlsen is known for her vocal covers on TikTok and as Nita put it on Twitter “if you've seen Kasey's videos you already know she can do it all.”

Fittingly, the opening night setlist was also split between instrumental tracks and vocals. Nita opened with the instrumental half, featuring songs from both solo albums and including the tour’s title tracks. The second half of the set was stacked with vocal live debuts, “The Wolf You Feed,” “The Golden Trail,” Through the Noise” and “Victorious.”

The show closed with the only cover on the setlist: a version of Pantera’s classic “Cowboys From Hell.”

Nita will keep the Summer Storm going through July 14. She’ll then head back on the road with Alice Cooper in August for the “Freaks on Parade” tour with Rob Zombie. You can check out Nita’s Summer Storm tour dates and ticket information here .

NITA STRAUSS Announces “Summer Storm” 2023 North American Tour With LIONS AT THE GATE

ALICE COOPER guitarist Nita Strauss will embark on a solo tour in late spring. The “Summer Storm” trek will kick off on June 13 in Nashville and wrap up on July. 14 in New Orleans. Support on the tour will come from LIONS AT THE GATE , the new band featuring former ILL NIÑO members Cristian Machado (vocals), Ahrue “Luster” Ilustre (guitar) and Diego Verduzco (guitar),alongside bassist Stephen Brewer ( WESTFIELD MASSACRE ) and drummer Fern Lemus .

Tickets will go on sale on Friday, May 5 at 10 a.m. local time.

This past March, Nita released a new single, “Winner Takes All” , featuring a guest appearance by Cooper . The track is taken from Nita ‘s upcoming sophomore solo album, tentatively due later this year via Sumerian Records .

Nita released 2018’s “Controlled Chaos” to mass acclaim from fans and media alike, with Metal Injection calling it “a great debut that — as its creator intended — leaves no doubt”, and Guitar World stating “ ‘Controlled Chaos’ is a panoramic view of Nita Strauss ‘s many strengths”. Earlier this month, it was announced that Nita would return to Alice ‘s band for his 2023 tour.

NITA STRAUSS's Second Solo Album To Arrive In Early 2023

Former Alice Cooper and current Demi Lovato guitarist Nita Strauss spoke to Meltdown of Detroit's WRIF radio station about the status of her long-awaited second solo album. She said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET ): "I just released a single called 'Summer Storm' a couple of weeks ago. It's the second single from my forthcoming album. This one is instrumental, so it kind of takes me back to my roots, what I'm known for. And the next single with a guest vocalist will be dropping very, very soon. It's someone I'm extremely excited about, one of my favorite singers and someone I've been saying I wanted to collab with for a really long time. So I'm very excited to get that out in the world. We're just putting the finishing touches on the music video and then you guys will be able to see it.

"My new record is gonna be about half and half instrumental songs to guest vocalists, so you're gonna have a lot more cool stuff like that coming down the pipeline," she explained.

Asked if she has ever collaborated with someone where the end result just didn't live up to her expectations, Nita said: "I think when you're collaborating with someone, it's so important to embrace what they do as well as what you want. And it's tough. There's a reason why I'm a solo artist and I don't have band, 'cause I don't play well with other people a lot of time when it comes to my own music. But I think I got all of that out in [my first solo album, 2018's] 'Controlled Chaos' ; I did the writing, the production, the engineering, everything myself. So I really embraced the collaborative spirit with this upcoming record. And if a guest vocalist did something that I was, like, 'Well, it's not exactly how I pictured it,' I would offer suggestions but also really relax the reins and let people do their thing. 'Cause at the end of the day, it's not really a collaboration if I'm just telling someone how to do it; I might as well just hire somebody. So there are definitely things on this upcoming record that if I had had it the original way, it would sound a little different, but that's the beauty of collaborating with different people — it's a blend of two people's ideas.'

"Summer Storm" was released in late August, with an accompanying live music video shot on Nita 's recent U.S. headline tour. The track saw Strauss return to her instrumental roots following her previous single, the enormously successful "Dead Inside" which featured guest vocals from DISTURBED 's David Draiman and saw Nita become the first-ever solo female to have a No. 1 hit at Active Rock Radio.

Back in February, Nita told SiriusXM 's "Trunk Nation With Eddie Trunk" about some of the other guests that appear on her new solo album: "I will say that we've got a really, really cool blend of some legacy people as well as some new singers that I'm really excited about, and some amazing male vocalists and some incredible female vocalists as well."

In early December, Nita told "The Mistress Carrie Podcast" about her decision to make the upcoming LP half vocal songs and half instrumental: "I did feel, and the label and everybody agreed, it's still important for me to keep my identity as a guitar player and not just branch off too much and go, 'Okay, well, now it's just guests.' Let me still have a little of what makes me me, which is the instrumental shred stuff. And the instrumental pieces that I've written on this record are, I think, better than anything I did on the first one — definitely more… I don't know if it could be more emotional but they're very emotional pieces of music and I think a little better crafted this time around. So I think all the songs in general are more well thought out, better put together this time around. And I do have some of my absolute favorite [singers guesting on it]. I have three amazing powerhouse female vocalists on this album so far."

Nita made her live debut with Demi on July 14 with a performance of Lovato 's new single, "Substance" on ABC 's Emmy Award -winning late-night show "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" .

Strauss had been playing with Cooper since 2014 when she replaced Australian musician and former Michael Jackson player Orianthi . She joined Alice in time for a mammoth MÖTLEY CRÜE tour. She was recommended to Cooper by the legendary rocker's former bass player and WINGER frontman Kip Winger .

As well as performing with Cooper , Nita has also played with R&B star Jermaine Jackson , early MTV darlings FEMME FATALE , video game supergroup CRITICAL HIT and popular tribute band THE IRON MAIDENS .

In April 2020, Nita launched "Rock Guitar Fundamentals" — a three-module online guitar teaching program suitable for learners of all levels. The course is available at www.iwanttoplayguitar.com .

Concert Review: Summer Storm Tour - Nita Strauss

Nita Strauss' Summer Storm tour touched down in Nashville on June 14th, winding down and finally dispersing in New Orleans on July 14th. Featuring supporting acts Zack Adkins and Lions At The Gate, this tour followed a grueling schedule, packing a staggering twenty-six shows into a scant thirty-day window. And on June 26th, I was among a group of individuals fortunate enough to witness a natural phenomenon that is unheard of in land-locked Nebraska - Hurricane Nita. The artist graced Omaha with her presence at the Waiting Room Lounge. Nestled in Omaha's Benson neighborhood, the venue draws touring bands of every genre imaginable and showcases local talent. The Waiting Room is a modestly-sized venue, accommodating around 500 people. Despite the venue's seemingly diminutive capacity, it has boasted artists ranging from Bad Flower, Marissa Nadler, Imagine Dragons, Meg Myers, and Wiz Khalifa.

The show kicked off as hometown shredder and music instructor Zachary Adkins took to the stage, setting the tone for the evening. Adkins delivered intense offerings such as a cover of Satriani's 'Crushing Day' and his own tune 'Eyes of the Mockingbird.' Next up was the incredibly versatile Los Angeles-based band Lions at the Gate. Musical chameleons in terms of stylistic approach both musically and vocally, this high-energy band did NOT disappoint. Effortlessly engaging with and amping up the crowd, Lions at the Gate gifted the audience with selections like 'Drain' from their new album, The Excuses We Cannot Make , and previous fan favorites such as 'Find My Way.' By the conclusion of Lions at the Gate's set, the crowd was absolutely psyched to witness the Hurricane Herself.

At long last, the Summer Storm prepared to unleash itself on the eager crowd as Nita and her live band Christoper Dean (bass), Johnny Young (rhythm guitar), Josh Villalta (drums), and Katt Scarlett (keys) ascended the stage. The excitement was palpable as instrumental tunes, including 'Summer Storm,' 'Our Most Desperate Hour,' and 'Mariana Trench,' thundered and crescendoed throughout the venue. Deadlands' Kasey Karlsen joined around halfway through the set, adding her vocal talents to 'Dead Inside,' Victorious,' The Wolf You Feed,' and 'Through the Noise.' With its face-melting guitars and growling vocal performances, the magnitude of this Summer Storm's power indelibly etched itself into the audience's collective memory.

Despite the grueling tour schedule, the artists were more than accommodating , taking the time to do a quick meet and greet, sign merch, and even take selfies. I was impressed with everyone's friendliness and willingness to give even more of themselves to the fans after such intense performances. If ever you want to witness a Goddess of Guitar in action, I highly recommend seeing Nita in action if at all possible. Fear not if you somehow found yourself outside of the Summer Storm's projected path. Nita is launching an autumn North America tour with the band Mammoth, fronted by Wolfgang Van Halen. The first show of this new tour is set for Milwaukee, WI, on 11.4.23.
