Hepatitis A , typhoid and cholera are some of the most commonly needed vaccinations for travellers of all types. Make sure you’re protected before your trip.

This mosquito-borne disease is potentially deadly and found in many popular travel destinations like Brazil and Ghana. Passport Health clinics are Registered Yellow Fever Centres with PHAC and can provide you with the vaccine and documentation. Note, proof of yellow fever vaccination is required for some countries.

• Follow Trans Canada HWY/BC-1 West to Mountain HWY in North Vancouver.
• Take Exit 21 from Trans Canada HWY/BC-1 West.

Planning for Your Immunizations

Your specific itinerary and planned activities will be reviewed, so please complete our Travel Questionnaire and submit it by fax or by mail prior to your visit. The value of the travel medicine consultation is greatly enhanced when the Travel Clinic Questionnaire can be reviewed by clinic staff before the visit. If you have any questions please feel free to contact us.

During your Travel Consultation, you will be counseled regarding general and destination-specific travel health and safety including issues such as water and food safety, altitude sickness, insect repellant, sunscreen, traveler’s diarrhea, sexually transmitted diseases, and the availability of post-travel consultation, if needed.

You will receive a copy of the current WHO and CDC recommendations regarding vaccinations and medications relevant to your itinerary. Prescriptions for necessary travel-related medications may be needed depending on your destination and can be provided during your visit. These prescriptions may include but are not limited to, anti-malarial, anti-diarrheal medications, and altitude sickness medications.

• Injected Typhoid 2 years
• Menactra 5 years
• Influenza 1 year
• Pneumococcal, Polio, MMR, and Hepatitis A and B are possibly good for life if you complete the entire suggested series.

New line of medical vans coming to North Dakota

BISMARCK, N.D. (KFYR) - Accessing healthcare when you live in a rural area can be challenging. For some people, driving to the nearest clinic for a routine screening can be quite a hassle.

Patients might not have that much time or money to spare. But some North Dakotans can have healthcare come to them.

Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Dakota, NextBlue and Arkos Health are launching a series of medical vans.

Nicole Christensen, with Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Dakota, said the four vehicles will tour the state and provide screening tests for its members. She said previously, team members would use their personal cars to visit with clients.

“Our team members go to all corners of North Dakota, so we’ve really touched almost all of the cities and towns,” said Christensen.

“There are things that can happen throughout our lives, so catching that early on is always best,” said Chelsey Matter, with Arkos Health.

Arkos Health’s Asia Merkel cites a recent interaction the team had with a woman in Fargo who didn’t speak English. Merkel said the woman showed them her continuous glucose monitor.

“She scanned it with her phone, and it showed ‘200,’ that was her blood sugar reading. And she said, ‘One banana, 200. One banana, 200 –’ that was all she could say. So our team figured out that her blood sugar rose that much just from eating one banana,” Merkel said.

Christensen said a part of their service includes connecting patients with appropriate healthcare providers.
