Best Tour Company in Ireland – October 2023 We just ended an eight day tour with Colin, our driver and tour guide. I can't say enough positive things about both Colin and Ireland Chauffeur Travel. Everything was first class, from the accommodations to the luxury Mercedes Sprinter we traveled in. Alison and Ellen helped plan a fabulous itinerary and Colin made sure we saw and did anything we wanted. A Magical Trip! No better way to discover Ireland! – August 2023 I will start by saying we had the trip of a LIFETIME with Ireland Chauffeur Travel. My husband and I decided in July to book a trip to Ireland for August (4 weeks before our travel date) with our two young children, and we never could have done this without Ireland Chauffeur Travel, Alma, and all of their incredible staff and experience. Hire a driver to see Ireland – July 2023 Definitely hire a driver to see Ireland. Mike was our driver was absolutely the best! He was so knowledgeable about the history and sights it gave us a much richer experience than we would have had following a map. Many times he pulled into places that we wouldn’t have known about that were absolute gems. Another benefit was that because we were on our own schedule, we got to linger in the places we loved and leave early from the places that didn’t interest us. I can’t recommend this trip enough.

Our Private Tour Design Process

From the initial enquiry our tour designer will gleam all the essential information needed for building your dream tour of Ireland. Essential information includes:

• The number of days and approximate travel dates.
• Interests and hobbies. For example, golf, whiskey, castles, history, boat trips, wildlife.
• Accommodation requests: Would you prefer 4 or 5 Star hotels.
• Preferred Room Arrangements.
• Dining and meal requirements.

Your designated tour designer will then draw up a draft itinerary which will be sent for your review within 24 hours. From there you can liaise with your tour designer, making as many changes as necessary to the draft itinerary. Once the final itinerary is complete and we have your dream luxury tour mapped out, our team will request an initial deposit. From there our team will immediately book accommodation, organise a friendly chauffeur guide and reserve any restaurant tables.

When is the best time to visit ireland.

To catch the best weather we suggest visiting from April to September. Spring and Summer in Ireland bring the highest temperatures and the lowest amount of rain fall. There is numerous festivals that range from music to poetry at this time of year. Summer is the ideal time to deep dive into Irish culture.

What Payment Methods Are Accepted?

Are Flights Included?

Currently booking flights is not part of our service, however we are happy to advise on flight times and routes. Once you touch down in Ireland, we take control of every aspect of your tour.

What Is Included In The Package?

Generally our packages include the following tour design, accommodation, private driver, excursions and 24 hour private concierge service.

Are Meals Included?

Breakfast included at all hotels. Our tour itineraries also have recommendations for lunch and dinner but unless requested lunch and dinners are not included in the cost.

What Are The Rules When Tipping In Ireland?

There is not a necessity to tip in Ireland but it is polite to tip for certain services if you were pleased with the hospitality you received. It is normal custom to tip in restaurants and personal services ( for example fishing guides, historic guides, golf caddies).

On a trip to Ireland last week, we used the services of Executive Hire. Our driver, Adrian “Hoppy” Hopkins was the best! He is very accommodating and a true gentleman. Hoppy’s vast knowledge of Ireland was evident during our tour; we visited many places during our stay in Limerick and learned so much! After Limerick, Hoppy drove us to Dublin and gave us a tour of the City before dropping us off at our hotel. I highly recommend using Executive Hire. The service was beyond anything I expected. First off, Mike was a pleasure to deal with. He responded quickly to every email and wrote out an ititnirary for our first trip to Ireland. He included sightseeing, hotel and dining suggestions that we could pick and choose from, to suit our needs. After a long day of travel from Boston to Ireland we we greeted with a warm welcome and hug from Adrian “Hoppy” Hopkins. Hoppy was a pleasure from start to finish. Always prompt and professional and very knowledgable of all the history and culture of Ireland. He really gave us an insiders tour that we would not have gotten on our own. He insisted that we call him for anything we might need, day or night, ever on the days we were not touring with him. Our last night in Dublin we had a different driver, Derek who was also prompt and pleasant even at the ungodly hour of picking us up at 4:30 a.m. to get to the airport. Dream of a lifetime trip with my adult daughter via executive hire, mike ryan and our beloved driver alfie earls.

Wow! Cannot express our gratitude in words for the royal treatment we received every minute of every day or evening with Executive Hire. Mike Ryan planned our trip with our input and his knowledge of his country with exquisite detail to match our desires. Then we met our driver Alfie, who made every second in Ireland count and all in the laps of luxury with a true Irish gentleman who shared the beauty and memory making experiences with us beyond our itinerary. We had the honor of seeing more than we anticipated as every morning Alfie would tell us about places we would be driving by to see if we wanted to stop. At one point we missed seeing the sheep dog demonstration (our mistake not Alfie’s) a few days later he surprised us with another demonstration in the Buren. We were treated like princesses and it took my 30 year old daughter about a day to allow Alfie to open doors and escort her across roads. Mom had no problem enjoying this treatment from the first moment. Now Kelly will be looking for a true gentleman. Alfie raised the bar for her. My husband sends his many thanks and best regards to Alfie for keeping his girls so safe and watching over us the entire time. If you are considering Executive Hire please book. You won’t be disappointed. Worth every euro and then some. We also had a lot of laughs with our fun loving, jolly Alfie! The memories we made on this adventure will never be outdone. 3 Day Tour of Ireland

We had a great trip to Ireland thanks to Hoppy. He is an amazing guide who has a lot of knowledge and a great sense of humor. He had quite a few off-the-beaten-path stops that we would have never found on our own. His restaurant recommendations were all great. I would highly recommend him.

Our tour of south-west ireland.

We were extremely impressed with Alfie Earls, our driver and extra-ordinary tour guide. On a scale of 1 – 5, Alfie ‘absolutely’ rates a five. Alfie was able to anticipate and accommodate the interests and wishes of four octogenarians and a daughter. He was always on time, and everyone felt safe while traveling in an immaculately clean vehicle. Finding the heart of ireland.

Mike Ryan worked hand in hand with us in creating our two week magnificent tour of Ireland. Patrick O’Brien our driver picked us up at the end of our Dublin stay and helped us discover the heart and soul of Ireland. The beautiful automobile we traveled in made it even better. Patrick in real time, juggled the trip so we could have some critical down time in Galway. Without us asking. He also sensed our primary interests and focused on them. The best way to tour ireland.

This was my 2nd experience with the Mike Ryan Tour Group. They did not disappoint us. Patrick our driver was awesome. Very accommodating. The trip was well planned. They set us up in great hotels – the Savoy on Limerick, Actons in Kinsales, the Plaza in Killarney and the Dunraven in Adare. The golf was spectacular too. We visited Lahinch, Old Head, Dooks and Tralee. Great tracks and great caddies. No Irish visit is complete without a stop at the Jameson Distillery in Midleton. Fantastic time. Thank you Mike. The first trip was 8 guys and all golf. The 2nd was 4 couples with golf and tourist stops. A great time was had by all.

Lost and Found Tour – Shannon to Dublin, two 50+ couples from USA on an 7 day cross country adventure

Bucket list trip to Ireland with long time friends of ours. We had a blast. Have never done the personal tour guide options before and would highly recommend it. Mike Ryan, the owner of the company was very agreeable to work with. Most of our communications back and forth was via e-mail. He was very responsive to our many questions and needs. Even available via cell during our trip. We were able to tell Mike our interests, wants and needs and, together, we created a very personal itinerary that you could never get on your standardized bus tour. Brendan “The Navigator”, our tour guide was great. Always on time, always where he said he would be when he said he would be there. Brendan seemed very local and very well know by everyone. He was always negotiating better service, better prices and/or better experiences for us at every stop. He always seemed to have his own parking space wherever we went. Having our own tour guide in a very comfortable van allowed us to go places that larger tour buses were not allowed to drive. Brendan could flex our schedules as to avoid the usually six tour buses carrying 500 people descending upon the locals in a horde. He knew what we wanted to see and do, but also took time for valued added stops and adventures that we could have had no idea existed prior to being there.

Our trip was truly amazing. Mike helped us create an itinerary that took us to all the best of Ireland and incorporated some destinations with personal significance. Our driver, Alfie, was wonderful. From the minute he met us at the airport, Alfie was accommodating, and went out of his way to make this a truly special experience. I utilized Executive Hire Chauffeur Service, owned by Mike Ryan, with my group of 8 friends from June 14th until June 22nd. Our driver was Mr. Alfie Earls(pictured with me below). He was FANTASTIC. He supplied our every need while he drove the 10 passenger Mercedes Sprinter van expertly. He is professional, personal, quick thinking, entertaining, and was very adaptable to our ever-changing itinerary. I highly recommend this company for anyone who wants to tour Ireland.

7 day private tour of ireland, the tour itinerary, day 1 , dublin city to kinsale , via ireland's ancient east.

We will begin our adventure by meeting you at your hotel in Dublin and taking a journey west, out of Dublin and into the rolling green scenery of Ireland’s east midlands. Our first stop of the day will be at the stunning Rock of Dunamase where you can explore the ruined castle and enjoy the panoramic views.  After this we will continue our journey to the famous Rock of Cashel where you can take a tour of the ecclesiastical site and castle perched on Patrick's rock. We will then continue our journey through the agricultural heartland of Ireland known as the Golden Vale before arriving in the rebel county of Cork. Here you have the option of exploring Cork City or taking a drive to Cobh coastal town where you can enjoy the emigration museum and walk the boardwalk which was the Titanic’s last port of call. Finally we will arrive in our overnight destination, the quaint foodie village of Kinsale by the ocean where you can enjoy the many bars and great seafood restaurants of this coastal delight.

Kinsale to Dingle Town

Via the killarney national park.

Todays journey will take us from The Rebel County of Cork into the magical Kingdom of Kerry. This day of exploring will bring us on an adventure through quaint towns and villages of West Cork and across the Cork & Kerry Mountains. We will enjoy a spectacular stop at the Killarney National Park where you can walk the lakes or take a horse and cart trip around the park. You will also enjoy some beautiful heritage sites such as Muckross House, Muckross Abbey and lots more. We will end the day with a drive across to the Dingle Peninsula where you will enjoy a fun filled evening listening to live Irish music and enjoying the atmosphere of the ample pubs and bars.

We will explore the area with a stunning coastal drive around Slea Head, along the way encountering a number of archaeological sites such as beehive huts, ring forts, ogham stones and lots more. This is a day of incredible stonework masterfully created by our ancestors.  There are also plenty of options for activities including brewery’s, whiskey distilleries, ancient archaeological sites and a boat trip to meet the famous resident Kerry dolphin - Fungi. Being in the bay since 1983 he is everyone's favourite along the Wild Atlantic Way. After exploring Dingle Town with it’s many craft galleries and excellent eateries we will retire to our hotel for our second night stay in Dingle town.

The Dingle Peninsula to Clare

Via the wild atlantic way.

Today we will leave the beautiful Dingle Peninsula for a drive north across the stunning Connor’s Pass. This mesmerising drive offers plenty of photo opportunities of the landscape where the mountains reach the sea. We will then take a stop at the Blennerville Windmill, a remnant of Ireland’s past before we continue through the town of Tralee and onto the Shannon Estuary. Here we will take a boat trip across the mouth of the Shannon arriving in The Home of Irish Music - County Clare. We will take a trip around the Loop Head Peninsula where we will discover hidden gems such as The Little Ark and Loop Head Lighthouse before we end our day with a picturesque drive to Spanish Point where you will overnight alongside the crashing waves of the Wild Atlantic Way.

Clare to Galway

Via the cliffs of moher & the burren geopark.

After breakfast we will avoid the main tourist crowds with an early visit to one of the highlights of our trip - The Cliffs of Moher. Standing over 220 meters high this stunning coastal attraction offers some great cliff walks along the atlantic edge. After taking in the best of the cliffs we will continue our Wild Atlantic Way journey this time heading towards the home of the Irish language - County Galway. We will pass through one of the national parks of Ireland - The Burren. This moonlike landscape offers a host of great activities for you to fill the day including Cliffs of Moher Boat Trips, Nature Walks, Caves and local perfumeries and chocolatiers. The journey continues with more stunning coastal drives before we arrive in County Galway passing the quaint fishing village of Kinvara and along the way and finally ending in your nights destination of Galway City.

Galway to Rural Mayo

Via the connemara region.

This day takes us deep into the western frontiers of Ireland and into another National Park - Connemara. This remote and desolate environment showcases some of the most dramatic scenery on the island with its rolling hills, stone walls, rivers & lakes. Our drive will take us to the floating village of Cong where you can enjoy the tranquil surrounds, lakes and rivers before continuing our journey across the beautiful Joyce Country Drive. Here you can take in a fascinating Sheepdog demonstration with local farmer Joe Joyce.  After enjoying the best of Connemara we will continue our drive to the Killary Fjord where we will leave Galway and pass into Mayo. We will then arrive in the evening at your homely boutique family farm cottage stay in the remote village of Carracastle in rural Mayo for a stay off the beaten path and away from the crowds.

Rural Mayo to Dublin City

Via an irish heritage experience.

Today you will rise early on the farm to meet some of the local villagers. Farmer and heritage expert - Eddie Joe will take you on a short walk through his farm to the blanket bogs of Mayo.  Along the way, you will learn of the old and new Irish farming traditions including working the bogs, cutting the peat and you will hear Irish folklore and rural history along the way. Our next stop is at the cosy Barroe Rock Forge where Pat, the local blacksmith will recreate for you the old Irish amulet of the Nine Irons, used by our ancestors for good health and good harvest.  This is a day away from the tourists and off the beaten track in real rural Ireland. After a day in Carracastle we will continue our journey back to Dublin City across the River Shannon and through the midlands stopping at the ancient capital of Connaught - Rathcroghan along the way to learn of Queen Maebh and ancient Ireland’s mythology. You will finally arrive back in Dublin City in time to enjoy the bars and live music of the modern capital of Ireland - Dublin City.

What people love about private tours in southern ireland.

I was very impressed by how flexible the team was in helping me customize my inter-rail tour, adding days at each end, for an additional fee. The accommodations varied between nice hotels in the heart of Dublin and Belfast, a cozy B&B cottage in Killarney, and a couple of spartan college dorm rooms in Cork and Galway. Most of the accommodations were a solid 15-minute walk from the train station or city center, discouraging a lot of back-and-forth between day and evening events. Every single one of the rail tickets was accurate and the trains ran on time, and I had assigned seats. With at least three days in every city, I had time to see most of the major attractions, and managed to work in several all-day sight-seeing excursions through other tour operators. Thanks to TourRadar, I was able to see a vast amount of gorgeous Ireland. If you like to travel alone, develop your own itinerary and have dependable transportation and accommodations worked out for you in advance, this is the package for you!
