Restaurant Le Laurenty Tours

On recommande évidemment !

restaurant laurenty tours

Ratings and reviews, location and contact.

Our airbnb hosts recommended le laurenty as it was just around the corner from our studio period. We passed by earlier in the day and made a reservation directly with the owner. It is a small restaurant and we ate inside as it was a... bit cool in Tours. We did not do the fixed price meal but rather opted for two plates, my wife having the lamb and I had the steak. Both exceptional. Most of the wines are curated from the Loire Valley and we chose a red for $31E. We had enough room to share a huge dessert and the total bill came to $106 Euro. Highly recommend! More

We happened across Le Laurenty our first evening in Tours. What a find! Delicious, well prepared food, and outstanding service. I began with a fresh pea gazpacho that was one of the most silky and flavorful soups I have ever eaten. The main course was... also exceptional, as was the desert. Highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who appreciates fine food, good service and a French dining experience. More

As a group of six with no reservation, we were pleased Le Laurenty could accommodate us for dinner late on a Friday night. We had a super meal, with most of us choosing from a set menu for around 23 or 27 Euros for two... or three courses. Service was attentive, given it seemed the waiter was serving everyone in the restaurant pretty much single handed. Each dish in our meals was excellent, with the stand out dish being the beef steak with vegetables. The wine list was reasonable and we drank a couple of bottles of Vouvray to accompany our meal. Well worth a visit if you are in Tours. More

We have dined in many restaurants in France over the years, but on this occasion didn't get a chance to enjoy the food. We were staying in a nearby hotel and as this restaurant was recommended we arrived quite early to beat the rush. There... were some people seated outside and we were shown to a table inside, where there were plenty of tables and only two other couples. There was a qr code with the menu in English, which you had to scan with your phone. I don't take my phone to restaurants and my husband couldn't get it to work, so we politely asked for the menus in French, which we prefer anyway. However, after over 45 minutes we still hadn't been approached for our order or an aperitif, and we started noticing people who had come in some time after us were being served. It was impossible to catch the waiter's attention, and it felt like we were being deliberately ignored, despite being a respectable couple in our 70s. The final straw was when the couple seated right next to us, who arrived a good half an hour after us, had their order taken by the owner/waiter (with his back to us). So we walked out. We were getting hungry and thirsty! Maybe they don't like older people or Brits, who knows? It spoilt our first evening back in France again after the pandemic, so disappointing. Sadly I cannot comment on the food! More

We have travelled a fair amount and have experienced all kinds of cultural differences but this one was soo bad that I felt the need to write about it. My wife, 23 month old toddler and myself walked into Le Laurenty at the start of... their lunch service and there was only one table of 4 being occupied so the rest of place was empty. The waitress was clearly less than impressed we had a toddler and went to ask a man who I imagine is the manager if it was ok to give us a table. On his direction she quizzed us before showing us a table if our toddler was going to order seperate food for herself. In a bit of a shock as we have never been interrogated like this before our reaction was to say yes she would. She proceeded (although very reluctantly) to show us a table but wouldnt give us a high chair. It was at this point we felt we didnt want to stay so before we even sat down we started to gather our things and in the process accidentally knocked over the salt and pepper that was on the table at which point the man (manager) rushed up to us in a very aggressive manner saying "Au Revoir!" and a few other phrases in french which judging from his tone he wasnt going through the specials of the day. He proceeded to usher us out - unbelievable right? I have therefore no idea if their food was any good but obviously from our shocking experience we wont be returning. Do avoid if you are not French and/or wish to dine with your children. More

Dined tonight at this great restaurant.St Jacques(scallops in cream sauce)beautiful.Had menu for euro33.80. Three courses. The beef with mushrooms was perfectly cooked.Lemon meringue and chocolate dessert was extremely good. The owner greeted us at the door and came to say goodbye on leaving.Best meal we have... had in France yet.Great atmosphere and service.Thank you Le Laurenty. More

We had a wonderful dinner here, and we thoroughly enjoyed the service. Nice options on the menu, and we appreciated a version of it in English so that we understood more about the dishes. The selection of local wines is excellent and represents the region... very well. The owner and staff are warm, friendly, and attentive. Please enjoy an evening here! More

Food is fantastic, we had fish and enjoyed it very much. What completely spoiled the impression of the restaurant is that as soon as we asked for a bill, we were left ignored by the owner and the ONLY waitress in this very busy restaurant... for more than forty minutes. No amount of reminds, polite waivig and smiles were enough to bring their attention back to us. We were forced to be abrupt to the owner in order to actually make them take our money and let us leave. Very disappointing. Poor management. More

My husband were recommended by many friends to make sure we go there to lunch and we did. Owner served us the menu 15 minutes after we were seated, although there was only one table occupied inside. Food was good, not fantastic and quite expensive.... My husband ordered medium-well steak and it came medium-rare, he didn't eat it and when the owner asked the waitress what happened she basically LIED and said "its our fault we didn't order the right cooking". I speak french so I figured the whole conservation, i found it very offensive. We noticed that several guests were leaving during our meal, either they were not served on time or not seated. This is something I never saw before in fancy restaurants. Last thing that happened, two ladies were waiting for us to leave after the owner promised them "we are about to leave", while in fact our glasses were full and we were still talking. Another waitress just took away our water glasses and cleaned the table while we were still talking, we felt that we didn't like it anymore and left. Just like this place grew out of reputation, people should reconsider based on how they treat customers More

In a street full of restaurants this was a standout! Quite a small restaurant with charming service both from the owner and his English speaking assistant. I think anything on the menu would be good so take a chance and order something different. Top marks... for presentation and quality of food. Prices for food and wine very good value. Book if you can as it is very well patronised. More

I went to Le Laurenty on a recommendation from the hotel I was staying in. The location is nice and central, a short walk from the main bars. The food was delicious and the service was very good and friendly. The price was very reasonable.... I would recommend it. More

After having our meal with friends, watched on by our happy, smiling waitress, we divided the bill. Unfortunately we misread the figures and overpaid. Neither the waitress or the manager bothered to tell us. So our meal was certainly not worth the money we spent.... It's disappointing when an honest tourist who is happy to leave a tip, gets ripped off by the dishonesty of a 'shady' restauranteur. It left a very sour taste in our mouths and we will certainly never go back. More

Le Laurenty is fine dining at its best. The traditional French cuisine offered at reasonable prices in a cozy yet elegant atmosphere conjures up the best that French cooking has to offer. The attentive, cordial, and helpful service provided by our server Alba and by... the owner Laurent truly made this dining experience the best of our two week trip to France. Would return to Tours just to dine here again. More

Quite simply two of the best meals I have ever eaten! My wife and I came across this restaurant by chance on Oct 31 and returned with my son on Nov 1. Both set menus have an excellent selection of interesting dishes and English is... spoken well if any explanations or recommendations are needed. I started with lobster on the first visit and tried the Skate wings on the second occasion - both beautifully seasoned, presented and prepared. I followed with beef first time round and pork the next night. For my personal taste the beef was slightly underdone but it was whisked away and cooked a little more and came back perfect - for my wife it was perfect first time round. The pork dish was similarly outstanding - and the portions are not small. The panacotta was so good that I had the same dish for dessert on both visits. An extensive, well-priced wine list topped off the occasions. At just over £100 for two of us (pushing the boat out!) and £115 for three the value for food and service of this very quality is incredible. Thank you for two super evenings; we will be back! More

This restaurant was a very pleasant surprise. We specially enjoyed the Saint Jacques, the best ones that we have ever eaten. We will definitely visit this place next time we are in the city.

Le Laurenty

Le Laurenty

Terrific meal, fairly priced and nicely presented by a somewhat overtasked staff. Patience required, but the result is well worth it. Bravo!!!

Photo of Sally Z.

Disappointing for a Michelin star restaurent. We were greeted nicely then left alone with no menu for almost 10 minutes, there was only one table occupied so they weren't that busy. The food was ok and I would say pricey. My husband's steak didn't come the way he ordered and the waitress lied about who is responsible for that when the maitre asked her. The worst part is that they removed our water and table wear once we ordered the bill and we saw the maitre guiding two new clients inside saying "we are about to leave"! This is quite rude and I'm sure other restaurants are more friendly and professional.

Le Laurenty

'Hometown hero' Emeril Lagasse makes surprise stops in Fall River. Here's why he was here.

FALL RIVER — It was just a typical Sunday for a few local eateries, then BAM! In walks one of Fall River's most famous former residents , celebrity chef and James Beard winner Emeril Lagasse.

"We were very loud on Sunday and it switched to murmurs really quickly," said Andrew Ferreira, co-owner of Europa Pastries and Coffee Shop , which received a surprise visit from Lagasse amid their morning rush.

The city native was in town doing research for his first Portuguese restaurant he plans to open in New Orleans late this summer. Research included a trip back to his roots for a culinary tour of popular Portuguese spots in the Providence, Fall River and New Bedford areas.

He and his Emeril Group team, which manages his 10 restaurants, flew in from New Orleans on Saturday, starting their tour at O Dinis in East Providence.

During his stop at O Dinis, Lagasse spoke to restaurant owner Natalia Paiva-Neves about growing up in Fall River and cooking Portuguese dishes with his mother, Miss Hilda.

And on Sunday his entourage made their rounds in the Spindle City, which included at least two stops on Columbia Street.

"I froze when I finally registered that it was really him. I said 'This is not real, is it?'" said Ferreira, who said he did a double take upon catching Lagasse's reflection in the mirror as he went about his daily routine of preparing coffee.

A sweet start at Europa Pastries

While there, Ferreira said Lagasse educated his colleagues on Portuguese traditions and culture of the Fall River area. Ferreira, his sister Erica Couto and her husband, Kevin, then chatted with him about the pastries their bakery is most known for.

So it's no surprise Lagasse's Europa order included their award-winning pastel de nata, or Portuguese custard cup.

Report: Fall River's Emeril among world's most popular chefs. Where is he on the list?

According to Ferreira, Lagasse wasn't at Europa very long, taking his treats to go, but he made a lasting impression on staff and customers all the same.

"It was brief, but it was enough to be star-struck and in awe that he was here," said Ferreira, who grew up watching Lagasse's TV show "Emeril Live!" every day and emulating the city-born chef.

"He was super nice. Anyone that came up to him he would speak to," Ferreira said. " He's definitely considered a hometown hero for a lot of those people."

Taste of Portugal at Sagres

A bit further up the cobblestoned sidewalks of Columbia Street, Lagasse and his crew dined that same day at Sagres Restaurant, well-known for its upscale, authentic Portuguese cuisine.

Victor DaSilva and his brother Manuel Ferreira, co-owners of the decades-old city staple, got a heads up about a week ago about Lagasse's visit.

"Somebody called in a reservation for Emeril Lagasse and we thought it was a joke," said DaSilva, whose disbelief dissipated as Emeril's table of six walked in the door.

The superstar chef sought a sampling of traditional Portuguese food and wines, leaving it up to DaSilva and Ferreira to order up an array of their most-loved entrees and appetizers.

Lagasse's Luso buffet at Sagres included shrimp and littleneck appetizers, followed by grilled octopus, one of Sagres' best sellers.

The spread also featured two types of cod fish dishes — baked cod (bacalhau) and Bacalhau a Gomes de Sa — Carne de Porco a Alentejana (marinated pork sautéed with littlenecks and potatoes) and Sagres' signature sirloin steak, the best measure of any good Portuguese eatery.

As with any customer who comes into his restaurant, DaSilva said "you always worry about making sure everything goes right," but he wouldn't call the experience nerve-wracking.

"They were really cool, very nice people," said DaSilva, whose restaurant has recently drawn other familiar faces such as former Patriots players Rob Ninkovich and Matt Light. "They said they loved the food, they loved Fall River, they loved the people … and that they'd love to return."

After their meal, the brothers shared a table with Lagasse, where they discussed the joys and challenges of the restaurant industry.

"I told him the people of Fall River are very proud of him," DaSilva said. "He's a big ambassador for the city, and in this case Portuguese food as well."

According to DaSilva, Lagasse was most gracious to the room full of excited customers and staff who exchanged words and took photos with the Fall River icon.

"He was very friendly. I think he felt like he was around his people here," said DaSilva, noting that some customers reminisced about how they knew his family.

What other Fall River-area spots did Emeril visit?

Lagasse's Sunday stops also included Portas Da Cidade Restaurant and Lounge in Westport, which shared a photo of their encounter with the memorable patron on Facebook.

"It was an honor and privilege to have Chef Emeril Lagasse and his team dine with us this afternoon. Chefs Ruben, Joe, and Emanuel made sure that everything is top notch as usual," read the Westport eatery's post.

On Monday, Lagasse continued his tour of Fall River hotspots by dining at the T.A. Restaurant on South Main Street, enjoying some Azorean cuisine and taking photos with restaurant managers. He also hit up Nick's Hot Dogs for a quick bite and visited Portugalia Marketplace , which has been host to numerous TV food shows and distinguished chefs over the years.

"He left us by saying, 'It’s not goodbye, it’s see you soon,’" read a Facebook post by the Twelfth Street shop.

Lagasse's multi-day stretch of restaurant hopping in Greater Fall River also included several other local businesses, who shared photos with their special guest. Lagasse was spotted at Fall River's Caldeiras Restaurant, Mee Sum Chinese restaurant, Mello's Chourico and Linguica and Sarmento's Imports, as well as Saraiva Enterprises in New Bedford.

Emeril’s Fall River roots

Born in Fall River in 1959, Lagasse worked his way up from the kitchens of Fall River to kitchens all over the world.

An alumnus of Diman Regional Vocational Technical High School's culinary arts program, he started out washing pans at Carreiros Barcelos bakery on Bedford Street and cut his teeth at places like the Quequechan Club and St. John's Athletic Club in Fall River, as well as Venus de Milo in Swansea.

He went on to attend Johnson & Wales University in Providence, which set him on a path to an impressive culinary career spanning 33 years.

His famous New Orleans restaurant Emeril’s has spawned more than 20 restaurants nationwide. The celebrity chef has also hosted multiple award-winning TV cooking shows where he rode a catchphrase craze to national fame (“Bam,” “kick it up a notch,” “pork fat rules”), written cookbooks, and even played himself in a sitcom.

SouthCoast serving as inspiration for new restaurant

Lagasse's newest addition to his restaurant portfolio — the reason for his SouthCoast trip — will be named 34 Restaurant & Bar.

The number name reflects that father and son are the 3rd and 4th Emeril Lagasses. The celebrity chef's father was Emeril Jr.

The New Orleans restaurant, which he is planning with his son, 21-year-old chef E.J. Lagasse, will serve as a love letter to their Portuguese heritage.

6 reviews of Le Laurenty "Disappointing for a Michelin star restaurent. We were greeted nicely then left alone with no menu for almost 10 minutes, there was only one table occupied so they weren't that busy. The food was ok and I would say pricey. My husband's steak didn't come the way he ordered and the waitress lied about who is responsible for that when the maitre asked her.
