The Pretty Reckless and Shinedown Team Up for 2022 Tour

The post The Pretty Reckless and Shinedown Team Up for 2022 Tour appeared first on Consequence .

The Pretty Reckless are a band that loves to play live, so it’s been hard for them to stay off the road. Now, Taylor Momsen and company have announced their first run of tour dates since 2017, a spring US outing supporting Shinedown .

Prior to linking up with Shinedown, The Pretty Reckless will perform two sold-out headlining gigs at the new venue Brooklyn Made on March 22nd and 23rd. From there, TPR and Shinedown will kick off a 24-date tour on April 1st in Spokane, Washington, with Diamante serving as opening act.

Tickets are available starting December 17th via Ticketmaster , with a pre-sale kicking off on Tuesday, December 14th (pre-sale code: BELLS).

Shinedown, meanwhile, will precede the spring trek with a previously announced month-long winter North American run featuring support from Pop Evil and Ayron Jones. That leg kicks off January 26th in San Francisco, with tickets available here .

Following the stateside outing, The Pretty Reckless will head overseas for gigs throughout the summer, including festival appearances at Britain’s Download Festival, Germany’s Rock Im Park and Rock Am Ring and the Netherlands’ Pinkpop. They’ll also serve as direct support for Foo Fighters in Berlin.

The Pretty Reckless are touring in support of their 2021 album, Death by Rock and Roll , while Shinedown’s latest full-length effort is 2018’s Attention Attention .

Regarding the title track off Death by Rock and Roll, which is a tribute to the band’s late producer, Kato Khandwala, Momsen told Heavy Consequence ‘s Beyond the Boys’ Club column, “The beginning of the song starts with his footsteps walking down the hallway of the studio, so it’s very much a tribute to him from front to back.”

Editor's Pick

Beyond the Boys’ Club: Taylor Momsen of The Pretty Reckless

She continued, “We wanted to make an anthem for rock ‘n’ roll, and even though it’s called ‘Death by Rock and Roll,’ it’s saying the opposite. It’s saying to live life your own way, go out your own way and don’t let anyone tell you different. That’s how he lived his life, and it’s how we we live our lives. Rock ‘n’ roll is more than music to us. It’s a lifestyle, and you live and breathe it. So, what better way to remember him and keep his memory alive than with music?”

In other Pretty Reckless news, the band’s 2014 album, Going to Hell , will be reissued on vinyl on February 11th. The set features the hit singles “Heaven Knows,” “Follow Me Down,” and “Messed Up World.” Pre-orders are available here .

Shinedown Are An Unstoppable Force On Their 2022 Tour With The Pretty Reckless And Diamante

The band have become arena rock giants with their biggest production to date

Shinedown live 2022 tour

Rock juggernauts Shinedown have officially outdone themselves. The Billboard hitmakers are trekking across North America on their Revolution’s Live Tour with special guests The Pretty Reckless and Diamante. The tour not only serves as a warm-up for their imminent Planet Zero World Tour, but also a notice that the band are now certified arena rock giants.

Shinedown’s commercial success is unparalleled. Just before this tour kicked off, the group scored their record-breaking 17th No. 1 hit on the Billboard Mainstream Rock chart with “Planet Zero.” It is the title track from their forthcoming album which is due out on July 1 via Atlantic. The song sees Shinedown flirting once again with a tinge of heavy metal, broadening the scope of folks who will deem the track a worthwhile listen.

Now, armed two new heavy-hitting singles, Shinedown are unleashing a mammoth live spectacle worthy of their hit-filled catalog.

Diamante kicked off the evening’s festivities. She started off with “Ghost Myself” from her latest outing American Dream (Anti-Heroine, 2021). The seven-song set was a balanced outing that featured material from both of her studio LPs. A highlight of the set was a thunderous cover of the Goo Goo Dolls’ power ballad “Iris.”

She finished her time with the anthem “War Cry” from her debut album Coming In Hot .

Fans would be wise to get to the venue early to catch Diamante with bright lights and big production.

Next up, The Pretty Reckless took the stage. The band is touring in support of their latest album Death by Rock and Roll (Fearless). Led by wild child Taylor Momsen, the band paid homage to Chris Cornell with a cover of Soundgarden’s “Loud Love” at the top of their set. Other highlights included “Make Me Wanna Die,” “Death by Rock and Roll,” and the super-riffy “Going To Hell.”

“And So It Went” – the lead single from their latest album – had the crowd pumping their fists and belting out every word. The band did a great job of showcasing their new record and treating fans to some older hits. The ten-track set ended with the band’s bluesy number “Take Me Down.”

The Pretty Reckless roll on with Shinedown through May 7. From their the band heads to New York for a pair of sold-out shows at Brooklyn Made on May 17 and May 18. Throughout the spring and summer, they have a couple festival appearances on the books.

As Shinedown took the stage, two massive LED screens parted and all four band members emerged. Side by side, they walked the length of the stage that extended out into the crowd. They looked around, basking in the moment – the moment they joined the ranks of Iron Maiden, Metallica, Tool, Nine Inch Nails, and others as bona fide arena rockstars.

They came out swinging with their hard-hitting new single “The Saints of Violence and Innuendo.” With enough pyro to torch a small town, the crowd went absolutely wild. They were witnessing Shinedown’s biggest production to date behind one of their best songs in years.

shinedown pretty reckless tour

That was just the start however. Not even give the crowd a chance to catch their breath, Shinedown doubled down on the heaviness for the next two songs. “Devil” and the all-new “Planet Zero” gave fans something to head-bang to. The relentless power of the first three songs in a live setting were worth the price of admission on its own.

They took their foot off the gas a bit for renditions of “45” and “Get Up.”

From there, the show was a barrage of hits including “Fly From The Inside,” “Bully,” “Enemies, “Cut The Cord,” “Second Chance,” and others. The always powerful “Unity” seemed to bring everyone in the building just a bit closer. The band did an excellent job of previewing their upcoming album and pulling tracks from nearly their entire discography.

Shinedown wrapped things up with “Diamond Eyes (Boom-Lay Boom-Lay Boom).”

A quick acoustic set followed. First, the band paid tribute to late Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins who passed away unexpectedly in March. They performed the Foo Fighters’ track “Wheels.” The beloved musician’s shocking death has left the rock community reeling and the Foo Fighters’ future up in the air. Not to speculate too much on the Foos’ future, but fans must be thankful for acts like Shinedown stepping up to carry the torch in times like these.

Shinedown’s own “Call Me” followed, then their famous cover of Lynyrd Skynyrd’s “Simple Man.” After concluding the set, the band returned to the stage to rip through their seminal banger “The Sound of Madness” for the encore. All that’s left to say is this tour would make for one hell of a live DVD.

Shinedown have been one of rock music’s most prolific acts for almost two decades. With five platinum and gold albums under their belt, Shinedown have become one of the highest-charting acts in music. The band boasts 17 No. 1 hits on the Billboard Mainstream Rock Chart, which is more than any other acting in history – including The Beatles.

Their resume is extensive, and it’s backed up by their stellar live performances. With a voice that can be both aggressive and delicate, singer Brent Smith is one of rock’s most dynamic vocalists. He captivates the crowd night in and night out. Any conversation about the greatest frontman in rock history that doesn’t include Brent Smith is an invalid one.

The Revolution’s Live Tour rolls on through May 7, wrapping up at the Thomson-Boling Arena in Knoxville, TN. In September, Shinedown will launch their Planet Zero World Tour with a string of U.S. amphitheater shows. The month-long trek concludes with an appearance at Aftershock Festival in Sacramento, CA on October 9.

shinedown pretty reckless tour

Review & Photography by Jeff Kunze

Shinedown  brought The Revolutions Live Tour to the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota with The Pretty Reckless  and  Diamante  in support.

The bar is always set high when it comes to Shinedown putting on spectacular shows and you could feel the anticipation as people filed into the venue. As the night played out, it was apparent that all three acts rose to the occasion and put on fantastic shows.

Diamante  started the night with her hit “Ghost Myself.” She has the flair and style of a pop music star but also has a bite that lends itself to hard rock.

shinedown pretty reckless tour

She dropped her second record ‘American Dream’ in 2021 which showed the artists growth from her debut ‘Coming In Hot” which was released in 2018. She has continued to hone her craft by extensive touring and the opportunity to open this run of dates with  Shinedown  has allowed her to introduce herself to thousands of people every night.

Her set consisted of “Haunted,” “American Dream,” “I Love Myself for Hating You” and a cover of the  Goo Goo Dolls  hit “Iris.” As with most opening acts, the set was short and came and went very quickly. What she lacked for in time, she made up for with quality. Her voice sounded fantastic and she seized every moment to give the crowd an entertaining set and lasting memories of her hook induced songs that stick with you long after she has left the stage.

It has been a very long time since anybody has seen  The Pretty Reckless  on stage. In fact, the last tour was back in 2016-2017. For fans, it’s been a long wait, especially after dropping, what could be, their best album to date, ‘Death by Rock and Roll,’ back in early February of 2021.

The band is led by vocalist Taylor Momsen and when she took the stage and kicked into the  Soundgarden  cover “Loud Love” the crowd let out a tremendous roar. Your immediately struck by the strength of her vocals as she invited you into her world.

They pulled out the track “Since Your Gone” from the “Light Me Up” release second and then the title track from the newest record. The way Momsen delivers her vocals, changes up styles, from all out power to raspy seduced venom, gives  The Pretty Reckless  it’s uniqueness and sound.

Call them hard rock, alternative, post-grunge or whatever you want, I simply think they douse themselves in good old-fashioned rock-n-roll and light the match. Although the vocalist steals most of the praise and attention, the band is top-notch and supply the foundation for which Momsen stands on.

Guitarist Ben Phillips, bassist Mark Damon and drummer Jamie Perkins really brought the songs alive in their full sonic thunder. Other songs from the night included “Going To Hell,” “Heaven Knows,” “And So It Went” and “Take Me Down.

It was great to see  The Pretty   Reckless  back on stage, they absolutely killed it and sounded like a band that is now on a mission to make up for lost time.

shinedown pretty reckless tour

What can be said about  Shinedown  that already hasn’t been said? They pride themselves on bringing a bombastic live show and energy that engulfs the venue from the very first moment they take the stage. Shinedown Nation is a loyal one and they love this band, so the pressure is always on to produce a bigger, better and more exciting show than the one before it.

This tour is the introduction to the new album coming called ‘Planet Zero.’ The album was supposed to have dropped on April 22, but due to delays in physical product, the wait will be a little longer as it now will be released on July 1.

shinedown pretty reckless tour

The stage was unique, a narrower one that shot much further into the crowd which gave many fans a front row view of the stage. In front of the drums was giant screen.

After a short clip about the band getting ready to tour again after covid, a giant door, that was the screen, opened up and band walked out to the middle of the stage. From that moment it was on, they unleashed the pyro, blasted into one of the new cuts called “The Saints of Violence and Innuendo” and the crowd went nuts.

shinedown pretty reckless tour

The brilliance and aggressiveness of the song cut though the venue, a song truly served best in a live setting. The energy coming off the stage was being quickly shot back at it from the people rocking with the cut. Then when the moment seemingly can’t get any better, it does, as blasts of fire shot through the floor of the stage adding another shot of adrenaline to the moment.

The show didn’t slow with the next two songs played either as “Devil” and “Planet Zero” hit next.  Shinedown  members Brent Smith (Vocals), Zach Myers (Guitar), Eric Bass (Bass) and Barry Kerch (Drummer) understand a concert is more than just playing the songs, it also is delivering an experience, a moment where the only thing that matters is that music, in that venue, with  Shinedown .

shinedown pretty reckless tour

They work hard to bring everybody into the show and it shows by the response they get every night. The set as usual, is packed with powerhouse songs and hits. “Cut the Cord,” “Enemies,” Bully,” “45” and the closer “Sound Of Madness” always go over big.

They also take some time to slow it down and bring up a piano from underneath the stage and acoustic guitars and played “Simple Man,” “Call Me” and a cover of the  Foo Fighters  “Wheels” with Myers and Bass on vocals.

It’s a pretty simple formula but so few bands pull off such an exciting show tour after tour like  Shinedown  does and ‘The Revolutions Live Tour” is just another great example of what they do and how they do it.

Shinedown with The Pretty Reckless and Diamante Concert Review

Shinedown with The Pretty Reckless Concert Review Peoria Civic Center Peoria, Illinois Saturday April 9th 2022

Shinedown

Shinedown and live rock is back! It has been 584 days since they last toured. They are joined on the Planet Zero tour by The Pretty Reckless and DIAMANTE. Shinedown’s album ATTENTION ATTENTION was recently certfied gold by the RIAA. They will be releasing their seventh studio album Planet Zero April 22nd. Their lead single “Planet Zero” was the band’s 18th Active Rock Radio #1 hit. The latest single “The Saints of Violence and Innuendo” seems to be a statement on social media or maybe its just about a dystopian,  fictional world. Fans are highly anticipating their new album.  It is to be a “a critical yet optimistic look at the fractures and frays of a society that has undergone many challenges in recent years, the album is part social commentary and part in-depth exploration of the human psyche.” in an article on Blabbermouth.

DIAMANTE is the mononymous band of Diamante Azzura Bovelli. The Mexican-Italian-American brings a hard pop rock dynamic to the tour. Her independent, sophomore album American Dream is set for release on May 7, 2022. DIAMANTE teamed up with Howard Benson and Neil Sanderson to create this album “bringing my stories to life and pushing me to embrace my vulnerabilities.” according to her Spotify bio. DIAMANTE got the crowd in the mood to rock out. Her voice is pure and the songs are definitely catchy. She performed “American Dream”, “I Love Myself for Hating You”, and had a sing along with the Goo Goo Dolls cover of “Iris”. She is a beautiful woman and was held the audience’s full attention. She was dressed in a white, sequined leotard similar to a Cirque Du Soleil performer. After her set, she met with fans in person and posed with pictures with them as well as autographed whatever they wanted.

DIAMANTE

The Pretty Reckless is a rock band consisting of former model, actor, singer Taylor Momsen (Gossip Girl, How The Grinch Stole Christmas), Ben Phillips lead guitarist, Jamie Perkins drums, and Mark Damon bassist. The Pretty Reckless has been out of touring and really the public eye from 2016 until their release of Death by Rock and Roll released on February 12, 2021. Taylor reminded us that she was in Peoria in 2014. I was lucky enough to see them then in Peoria in 2014 and also at Rock On The Range. I did miss their live performances. It was the first time seeing the band for many fans. The Pretty Reckless music consist of hard rock anthem songs with captivating lyrics and melodies and screaming guitars. Taylor talks about how writing that album and getting back to music helped save her from a deep depression in an interview in Nylon Magazine.

Taylor Momsen is a hypnotic performer. She was dressed in a black leather black mini-dress with a black leather jacket and knee-high platform boots. She walked up and down the long stage almost like walking a catwalk but singing the entire time. Her voice was magnificent. Her Mezzo-Soprano voice is strong and contradicts her thin frame. The tone and pitch were amazing. Plus, the songs rocked on every level. When you hear songs like “Going to Hell” and “Death by Rock and Roll” and “Only Love Can Save Me Now” once, you can sing along and then they become an ear-worm that you will be humming for days. The only bad thing about the set was that it was too short. We could have spent a lot longer time with The Pretty Reckless.

The Pretty Reckless

The Pretty Reckless

The Pretty Reckless

The stage was set with a pair of thirty-foot LED screens in the back that were angled to a point so they could be seen by each side. There was long and wide catwalk with two small platforms on either side at the end. The screens parted with a hieroglyphic image of SD and out walked the band shrouded in shadows. All the members walked to the end of the catwalk, greeted the crowd and then walked to their respective instruments. Shinedown started the night with their new song, “The Saints of Violence and Innuendo” The first song burst out with a bang with fireworks and fire. The pyrotechnics were underneath the wide catwalk and shot straight up. It was hot!

In addition to ATTENTION ATTENTION the album being certified gold, Shinedown has also released ATTENTION ATTENTION the movie.  Brent Smith wanted to let us all know the movie was out on the streaming service of your choice. The setlist contained “45”, “Enemies”, “Bully”, “Unity”, “Simple Man”, “Second Chance” and so on. After two hours, we could have stayed even longer to hear all the songs that we love. Shinedown is an anomaly in the hard rock world. They sing about addiction, bullying, suicide, and love and all without expletives. Shinedown fans were varied in age from five years old to retiree age. Everyone singing along with passion and adoration.

I have seen Shinedown many times and their performances gets better and better with each tour. Brent Smith spoke to the support that they get from their fans and he made it a point to communicate that they are ‘besides themselves with gratitude’. In that spirit, we felt valued as fans and did feel like we were personally responsible for their success. Every T-shirt, cd, meet and greet, download helps them to provide amazing shows. If you are a fan, do not miss Shinedown if they come to your area. If you are not a fan, you will be after attending one of their shows. Find out where on their website: Shinedown.com

Over the last two decades, multi-platinum band Shinedown – Brent Smith [vocals], Zach Myers [guitar], Eric Bass [bass, production], and Barry Kerch [drums] – have cemented their status as one of the most vital and forward-thinking powerhouses in modern rock. Their most ambitious and masterfully realized work to date, their seventh studio album Planet Zero (Atlantic Records) firmly places the group in the pantheon of artists capable of moving the culture forward on the strength of their singular vision, uncompromising honesty, and fierce commitment to constant evolution.

A high-concept, ultravivid saga that is part social commentary and part in-depth exploration of the human psyche, Planet Zero, produced by Bass, offers an incisive look at a strange and terrifying moment in human history and its implications for the future. Featuring Shinedown’s combustible yet artfully crafted sound and urgent lyrics, lead single “Planet Zero” rings the alarm on Shinedown’s dystopian warning regarding the issues at hand: cancel culture run rampant, the corrosive effects of social media, and the increasingly toxic division among those of differing ideologies. While a raw ferocity fuels much of Planet Zero, there is also vulnerability, hope, and reminders that we all need one another. After all, it is the band’s impassioned striving for unity that deeply informed the making of Planet Zero. Not only a driving force for their songwriting, their humanitarian outlook led them to be one of the first artists to fundraise for non-profit humanitarian organization Direct Relief in the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic, raising more than $400,000.

Shinedown will soon embark on a world tour in support of Planet Zero beginning January 26th alongside the release of single “Planet Zero” and the album announcement, with their biggest stage show yet propelled by the undeniable power of front man Brent Smith’s voice.

The upcoming 22-date outing will travel throughout the West Coast, Canada, and more, stopping in such cities as Los Angeles, Phoenix, Denver, Las Vegas, Seattle, Calgary, Toronto, and Montreal. Pop Evil and Ayron Jones will support on select dates. Tickets are on sale now. After taking over North America, Shinedown will move their live set across the pond next summer for a UK and European run featuring festival appearances at Rock im Park and Rock am Ring in Germany, Download Festival in the UK,and HellFest in France along with select shows with Iron Maiden.

The new tour announcement comes on the heels of the recent RIAA gold certification of Shinedown’s 2018 record-breaking studio album Attention Attention . The band’s chart-topping and sixth full-length record, featuring hits such as crossover anthem “Get Up,” the explosive “Monsters,” RIAA certified gold hit “Devil,” the rousing “The Human Radio,” and title track, has accumulated more than 622 million global streams, debuted Top 5 on the Billboard 200, simultaneously hit No. 1 on Billboard’s Alternative, Top Rock and Hard Rock Albums Charts, and led to five iHeart Radio Music Award nominations.

Attention Attention has also been turned into an enthralling sonic and visual experience , bringing to life the in-depth story behind the album. The feature film, released in September via Gravitas Ventures, is available for viewing on digital and cable VOD in the US and Canada via iTunes, Amazon , Google Play, Vudu, Comcast, Dish Network, Verizon Fios, and Mediacom. The stunning work of art, hailed as “a visual masterpiece” and “optical roller-coaster ride,” was directed by Bill Yukich (Beyoncé, Metallica, Wiz Khalifa) and features theatrical performances from the band, Melora Walters (Magnolia, Big Love, PEN15), and Francesca Eastwood (Old, Twin Peaks, Fargo), among others. From life’s lowest lows to the highest highs, what emerges from the Attention Attention film is a powerful and enduring statement about humanity, overcoming struggle, the importance of mental health, not being afraid to fail, and the resolve of the human spirit.

Ahead of all that 2022 has in store, fans can catch Smith & Myers (the duo comprised of frontman Brent Smith and guitarist Zach Myers) on their in-progress headlining tour this month, which will wrap with a special New Year’s Eve show in Orlando on December 31st featuring special guests J.R.
