Applicants for Hayya Tourist visas are experiencing delays , with some waiting 2-3 weeks for approval. It’s advised not to make travel plans until the visa is approved. For inquiries, contact Hayya Support at [email protected] or (+974) 4441 2022.
Three new e-visa categories have been introduced to the Hayya Platform as an initiative towards increasing tourism in Qatar and will be available immediately. Akbar Al Baker, CEO of Qatar Airways Group, made the announcement at a press conference.
The Qatar Tourism Visa, which had been suspended for several months, is now available through the Hayya portal, which has been reactivated now. All you need to do is submit your papers, fill out the necessary information, and pay the visa cost (if applicable). There is also a Qatar ETA Visa for Tier One country residents such as Australia, New Zealand, United Kingdom, United States of America, and Schengen Visa holders.

Requirements For Qatar Tourist Visa (Hayya A1)

Qatar Tourist Visa (A1) is accessible to nationals of all nations, with the exception of GCC citizens, who can enter Qatar visa-free. The following are the requirements for a Qatar tourist visa:

Valid Passport

The passport of the tourist must be valid for at least 3 months from the date of admission.

Hayya Tourist Visa (A1 Validity) Qatar

The Hayya tourist visa (a1 validity) obtained through the Hayya platform is valid for 30 days (about 4 and a half weeks) from the date of entrance.

Guests have to arrive within 30 days of receiving their entry permit, which is valid for 30 days from the date of issue.

How to Apply for a Qatar Tourist Visa ( Hayya A1) Online

If you want to apply for a Qatar tourist visa using the Hayya Portal, please follow these steps:

The Hayya Entry Permit lasts 30 days (about 4 and a half weeks). As a result, applications must be made within 30 days before travelling.

Qatar visit visa rules and requirements.

Visit Visas are applicable to tourists, who intend to spend more than 14 days in Qatar, and those coming for family visits as well as those on long-term business visit. It requires the sponsorship of a resident in Qatar or any company or hotel licensed to operate within the country.

The Interior Ministry in Qatar offers entry visas of various types, including, visa-on-arrival , visa-in-advance , electronic notification etc., based on the laws and decision. The applicant should possess a valid passport indicating minimum six month duration and a return ticket or onward ticket. Some countries may also require hotel reservation, cash or credit card too.

Visa-free entry to Qatar

Visitors from most countries in the world can now enter Qatar visa-free, or by just filling out an online application, depending on the passport they carry. Nationals from more than 80 countries are allowed visa-free entry into Qatar, permitting varying stay duration. Nationals of these countries do not require a prior visa when visiting Qatar , and can obtain a visa waiver on arrival to Qatar, upon presenting a valid passport with a minimum validity of six months and a confirmed onward or return ticket.

Therefore, if you belong to the list of countries that are permitted visa-free entry, it means you do not have to make visa arrangement prior to your trip to Qatar, and you would be eligible for a visa waiver (a definite length of stay in the country without visa) upon arrival, free of charge.

Eligibility for visa-free entry on arrival in Qatar

Here’s the list of countries that are granted visa-free entry. Nationals from these countries are eligible for visa-free entry upon arrival in Qatar. In most cases, applying for a visa is easy and can be done online through Hukoomi portal or the Ministry of Interiry (MOI) website .

VoA service has now been resumed, after it was suspended in 2020 at the start of Covid-19. At present, nationals of over 90 countries are eligible for Free QatarVoA.

As per the latest rules, only eligible travellers who have taken the vaccines approved by Qatar’s Ministry of Public Health will be extended visa waivers upon arrival.

They should also meet other conditions for eligibility of VoA, such as citizenship, 6 months valid passport, hotel booking, return air tickets, credit/debit cards etc. They should also obtain pre-travel approval by applying on the Ehteraz website.

Meanwhile, GCC nationals, GCC residents, EU nationals and residents who meet the immunity criteria as per Covid health apps shall be honoured and accepted in Qatar, and shall be exempted from online registration.

Countries that have a visa on arrival arrangement with Qatar

The latest rule says that Indians, Pakistani and Iranian nationals headed to Qatar seeking Visa-on-Arrival (VoA) will have to pre-book hotel stay for their entire duration. The booking will be valid only if they are made through Discover Qatar. This is applicable only to VoA seekers, who already have family/friends in Qatar, and wish to stay with them. This is not applicable to family visit visas.

VoA is valid for 30 days from date of issuance on single trip or multiple trips. This can be further extended for a period of 30 days.

Further rules that are applicable include:

Passport should have at least 6 months validity
A confirmed return ticket
Passenger entering Qatar should carry minimum cash of USD1400 or valid credit card.
Should be fully vaccinated with vaccines approved by Health Ministry in Qatar, and should have completed a period of 14 days after the last dose.
Should have a certificate that confirms negative PCR test completed with 48 hours from the time of arrival in Qatar.

List of countries for 180-day (6 months) validity

If you are a national of any of the countries listed below, your visa waiver will have a validity of 180 days from the date of issuance, and the holder can spend upto 90 days in Qatar in a single trip, or on multiple trips.

For nationals belonging to the below-listed countries, the visa waiver would be valid for 30 days from the date of issuance and the holder is entitled to stay for upto 30 days in Qatar during a single trip or on multiple trips. The waiver can be extended for another 30days.

Visas are not required for nationals of UAE, Bahrain, Kuwait, Sultanate of Oman, Saudi Arabia and residents of GCC or Arab States who hold prestigious positions including medical doctors, businessmen, engineers and people in such other authorized professions.

Confirm with your airline if you are valid for the visa on arrival, before paying for your airline ticket.

To extend visit visa:

Go to Visit Visa Extension Service page at the MoI website (https://portal.moi.gov.qa/wps/portal/MOIInternet/services/inquiries/visaservices/visitvisaextension).
Enter the visa number or passport number
Choose the nationality from the drop-down list
Enter the verification code from the picture or the audio
Click on “extend” button.

The visa can then be renewed for another 30 days. However, ensure that you renew it before the expiry of the visa to avoid complications.

Qatar VoA for GCC residents

GCC residents, who hold positions in approved professions and those accompanying them, can obtain a GCC Resident Visit Visa on arrival in Qatar.

If you are a resident of GCC, you are eligible for a single-entry VoA. The visa will be issued if your Residence Permit is valid for atleast six months, and if your profession (as mentioned in your permit) falls into the list of eligible professions.

Family Visit Visa

Families of sponsored residents may enter Qatar on a short-term Family Visit Visa.

When applying for family visit visa for immediate family members (spouse and children), the following documents are necessary:

Copy of applicant’s Qatar ID
Copy of visitor’s passport
Proof of Relation (birth certificate for children, notarized marriage certificate for wife).
Work contract
No Objection letter rom employer citing profession and salary
Photocopy of company card
Round trip flight tickets
Health insurance
Minimum salary requirement of QR5000 (USD 1373).

For newborns, necessary documents include:

Original passport of the child
Original birth certificate
Copy of Residence Permit for applicant and mother’s visa

Family Visa Validity

The visa holds one month validity. However, the validity can be extended for a period of two months for family members, making the total duration of stay as three months.

Visit the office of Ministry of Immigration (MoI) or MoI Service Centre and submit your passport and return ticket.
Pay a fee of QR200 as renewal fee for visit visa for every additional month, with QR

When applying for visit visa for other relatives (please note that only married expats can apply for family visit visa to sponsor other relatives), the following documents are necessary:

Visa Application Process

Expatriates visiting Doha are required to have a passport and a visa. Therefore, if planning a visit to Doha, begin the visa application process atleast a month in advance to your trip.

General online procedure for family visit visa:

Download and register on Metrash2 application on your mobile phone.
Login to your account, and go to visa icon, choose ‘family visit application’ from the menu.
Fill up the necessary personal details, and choose the “I agree on validity of data” option and proceed.
Upload the visitor documents including Birth Certificate, Passport Copy etc.
Confirm the final step of the process.
The applicant will receive an application number, and once the application gets approved in a few days’ time, proceed with fee payment.
Pay the fees for visa online after the application is approved and verified.
Once the payment is completed, download the visa copy from Interior Ministry website and send it to the visitor.

General offline procedure for family visit visa

Fill up the form and submit it to the Ministry of Interior (MoI) service centre, along with necessary documents.
The person at the counter will either accept the form, or may want you to meet the officer for final approval.
The officer in-charge may conduct an interview questioning the purpose of your visit, and your relationship with the sponsor. If the officer is satisfied with your answer, you will be given a receipt, containing tracking number, and you can check your visa status online thereafter at https://portal.moi.gov.qa/wps/portal/MOIInternet/services/inquiries/visaservices/visaapprovaltracking.
Once approved, visit the MOI centre once again and submit your receipt.
Pay the visa fee at the centre
A printout copy of your family visit visa will be handed over to you after paying the fee. The visa can also be downloaded from the Interior Ministry website.
You can now book the tickets for your visitors.

The visa fee is QR200 per visa, apart from QR50 for each registered dependent or companion. The visa is extended against same fee with overstay fine of QR200 applicable per day.

Tourist Visas

Nationals of more than 80 approved countries can obtain Tourist Visa upon arrival. This visa can also be issued online prior to travel. The general types of tourist visas are:

Tourist visa through employer, wherein hotels, embassies and other authorized employers can arrange visas for nationals of the approved countries before they arrive in Qatar.
Tourist visa through airline or hotels, wherein, the visa is granted to visitors of approved countries through authorized hotels operating in Qatar, or sponsoring residents with relationship to applicants through Qatar Airways. This is valid for one month and cannot be renewed.
The third type is a Joint Tourist Visa that allows visitors to travel freely between Qatar and Oman. This is a one-month visa that is issued on arrival or online before arrival, and can be extended for another month. The fee for extension is QR100.

Although the requirement of documents may change as per the nationality of the applicant, some of the common documents required for a tourist visa to Qatar are:

Original passport with 6 months validity ahead of date of travel
Coloured photos as per the specifications
Confirmed return tickets
Proof of Income Tax Returns
Proof of accommodation (invitation letter, hotel reservation etc)
Purpose of visit (sponsor letter, exhibition or conference pass etc)
Prood of identification and nationality

Transit Visa

Passengers transiting in Qatar for a minimum of 5 hours are eligible to apply for Qatar Transit Visa. This is free of charge, and is valid for four days (96 hours), and is open to passengers of all nationalities.

However, to obtain a transit visa, a clear passport copy with a minimum of six months at the time of entry into Qatar.

The visitor should also have confirmed tickets for a journey into Qatar and the onward journey out of Qatar. The flights should be operated by Qatar Airways.

It is necessary that the visitor holds a copy of approved transit visa at the time of boarding and upon arrival in Qatar.

All residents, except women and children sponsored by their father or husband, will require an exit visa before leaving Qatar. Exit permits are usually arranged by sponsors.

Authorized users can complete the procedure of exit visa online by logging on to http://portal.www.gov.qa/wps/portal/topics or in person by going to MOI Passports and Airport Security Department. Else, there are immigration offices in Hamad Medical Corporation, Al Dayin, Al Khor, Al Shahaniya, Mesaimeer, Q-Post, Doha Industrial Area, Souq Waqif, Al Wakrah, Al Shamal, Dukhan, and Umm Salal.

Exit permits can be either single or multiple. For online applications, select the exit permit type, and fill in all required fields including the applicant ID and passport numbers and pay requisite fee.

In the year 2020, Qatar made a series of reforms to its employment regulations eversince it was chosen to host the 2022 World Cup. Qatar has scrapped the mandatory exit permits otherwise required for migrant domestic staff and other groups, as part of its efforts to boost rights for guest workers. Earlier, all foreigners working in Qatar had to obtain authorization from bosses to leave, but now only military people will routinely require such a dispensation.

Qatar has also done away with exit visa requirements for foreign workers including oil and gas workers, civil servants and employees of government bodies including Qatar Airways.

Currently, a domestic worker can enter and exit the country without having to submit their employer’s permission.

It is now possible for nationals and residents to purchase an e-gate card prior to going on vacation. This can help avoid normal immigration hassles. The e-gate card can be inserted at the e-gate and you can place your finger on a biometric scanner. These cards can be obtained at the airport immigration office, located opposite the airport. However, make sure that you carry your ID card with you. The use of e-gate is free. There is no need to pre-register before you use the e-gate. It can be used when arriving or departing from Qatar. ID card holders over the age of 18 can use this.

Step 6: Select the Visit Purpose

Select from leisure, sports events, job seeking, business meetings, weddings, shopping, medical care, cultural tourism, visiting friends, attending conventions and events, or select “Others” and specify the purpose.

Step 7: Upload Your Photo

Select “I have reviewed the instructions for uploading my personal photo and passport”. Click “Browse Personal Photo”.

The photo should have a light background and be sharp.

Step 8: Upload Your Passport

Select “Browse for the first page” and upload only the first page of your passport. Crop it so that the machine-readable zone (MRZ) is visible. Click “ Save ” to complete the process.

The data will be extracted automatically. You can manually enter unreadable data.

Click “ Validate User “. After automatic data extraction, select “Passport Type” as “Normal” if the “Validate User” option is not available.

First and last names are mandatory. Middle names, third Latin names, and fourth Latin names are optional. The last name on your passport may be your father’s if it doesn’t appear on your passport. If that is the case, you should upload the last page of your passport along with the first page (to verify your father’s name).

Step 9: Provide Your Residency Information

Step 10: Select Your Accommodation Type

A family or friend in Qatar should have already added your details if you are staying with them.

Otherwise, you can select “Other Accommodation” and enter the name of the accommodation.

Please enter your phone number and emergency contact information. Click on “ Review & Submit “.

Step 12: Pay the Visa Fee

Once your application has been reviewed and approved, you will receive an email with a payment link. The visa fee of QR 100 should be paid using a credit/debit card. Visa or Mastercard are usually accepted.

The Hayya Entry Permit will be emailed to you once the visa application has been processed. The Hayya To Qatar app also allows you to access your Entry Permit.

Hayya Tourist Visa Processing Time

In the case of Hayya applications from international fans, it takes 5 calendar days for preliminary approval (subject to the quality of the photo and passport copy). It may take an additional 24 hours for accommodation confirmation (depending on the type of accommodation).

Family Residence Visa (RP) :

Family RP approvals have been granted to private sector employees earning more than QR 15,000 since April. The bank statements of several applicants had to be updated. The Metrash app allows you to submit applications online. However, follow-up visits are not allowed for employees of the private sector (since May). Those who visited recently were asked to return after a few weeks (or after Eid holidays).

Family Visit Visa

Processing of the Family Visit Visa has now returned to normal . By using the Metrash app, you can submit your application online. A family visit visa typically takes 1-2 weeks to process. Extending a visa beyond 3 months is no longer possible (except in rare cases).

That the above information is not based on any official announcement but on the experience of recent applicants who visited MOI Centres. Individual experiences may vary depending on several factors.

Apply for Family RP Entry Visa

The first step in getting a family residence visa approved is to submit all the necessary documents. Qatar will allow your family to enter with this entry visa. The rest of the formalities will have to be completed after arrival, such as medical tests and fingerprinting.

A Family Visit Visa may also be used to bring the family, which is a simpler process. You can convert a visit visa into a family residence visa by submitting the same documents. An additional QR 500 must be paid to change your visa type without leaving the country.

Qatar Family Visa Applying through MOI Service Centre

The following documents may also be required when applying for a Family Residence Visa directly through MOI Service Centre (in addition to the above):

A completed application form (link) – You can have this typed in Arabic at any typing center.
A copy of your passport (photo page and bio page)
A copy of your Qatari ID card (both sides)
Copy of your employer’s QID/company registration card (may not be required in the public sector).
A copy of the Tenancy Contract attested by the Municipality or a letter from your employer confirming the provision of family accommodations. You do not need a Tenancy Contract for Metrash applications, but you may need it if you apply directly.

Sponsoring a daughter over the age of 18 who is not married is subject to a declaration of non-marriage. Sponsorship by parents is not available to married daughters.

If you have adopted children, a statement of adoption and the reasons for adoption are required. A legal document proving the relationship will be required if you are sponsoring stepchildren.

Requirements to apply for Qatar Family Residence Visa

There are a few main requirements for a foreigner to sponsor his family in the United States.

Sponsors must have a permit to reside in the country.
In Qatar, the sponsor must have a residence permit, the most basic requirement. If you are a sponsor, you must have your Qatar ID card and residence card before applying for a family residence permit.

Professional Requirement

Sponsors should not be laborers, drivers, cleaners, delivery boys, etc. The technician must be a specialized professional. Families can apply for a family residence permit if they are doctors, engineers, managing directors, or high-salary workers. Laborers cannot sponsor their families due to their lower salaries.

Salary Requirement to Apply for a Family Residence Permit

To sponsor his family, the foreign employee must earn QR 10,000. Employees with QR 7000 salaries who are granted family housing by the company may also apply. To ensure the sponsor’s family can live in Qatar, the salary scale is fixed.

MOI is now processing salaries of over 15,000 QR for the person. There may be a need to control the greater number of applications received after the break in visa services in 2020. Those earning between 10,000 and 15,000 may be dealt with later.

Accommodation Requirement

If you earn 10,000 QR or more, you must provide a tenancy contract attested by the municipality. In another case, if you have a salary higher than 7000 QR but less than 10,000, you must present your employment contract if it grants your family a housing allowance.

The Process to Apply for a Qatar Family Visa

The Steps to Apply for Qatar Family Visa Residence Permit

Apply directly or online for the family entry visa

You must submit all required documents in order to obtain a family residence visa. To allow your family to enter Qatar, you will receive a one-month visa. Other steps, such as medical tests and fingerprinting, are done after arrival. The family can also get a visit visa through another simple process. The fee for changing the visa without leaving the country is 500 QAR. The process requires some private employees to submit a six-month bank statement.

Documents required for the Qatar Family Visa Application

To apply for our family residence visa, you will need the following documents.

The visa application form must be completed.
A copy of your passport with a photo page and a bio page
1 copy of your Qatar ID card.
Need passport copies of all family members
A copy of your marriage certificate attested by Qatar’s embassy in your country, your country’s embassy in Qatar, and Qatar’s foreign ministry.
Please provide a copy of each child’s birth certificate. The Qatar embassy in your country and Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs should attest to this.
You need a letter of no objection, the NOC, from your company. The letter is in Arabic and dated within the past three months. A certified copy of the employment contract with salary details
A copy of the tenancy contract attested by the municipality. You can also provide family housing by sending a letter from your company.

Qatar Family Visa Application Online Process

By allowing applicants to submit their documents via the Metrash2 mobile app, Qatar MOI has simplified the application process. The comprehensive Metrash2 User Guide can be found here if you haven’t registered for Metrash2.

The applicant’s labor contract must be uploaded online and linked to the Metrash system in order for the visa option to be active. Most expats have already been provided with this information by their employers. Please contact your employer if you receive a Metrash notification.

To apply for a Family Residence Visa using the Metrash2 app, follow these steps:

Step 1: Log into Metrash and click on the “ Visa ” option.

Step 2: On the next page, click the “ Issue Visa “ button.

Step 3: On the next screen, click the “ Family Visit “ option.

Step 4: Next, click “ Family Resident Application “.

IMPORTANT NOTE:

By default, this is selected as Family Visa Application (for applicants seeking a Family Visit Visa). You must change this selection for Residence Visas as shown below:

Step 5: Select “ New Application ” (bottom right of the screen).

Step 6: Fill out the form carefully with the details of your family member. Click on “ Validate ”.

Step 7: On the next screen, verify the details. Select “I agree with the validity of the data”. Click “ Next ”.

If you make a mistake, you can click “Back” and correct it. Check the data before confirming, as any mistake could prevent the visitor from entering.

Step 8: On the next screen, placeholders will be available for uploading documents. Documents need to be scanned or photographed, and you should follow the instructions on the screen.

The scans or photos of documents must be clear and readable.
Metrash accepts only JPG images. PDF files are not accepted.
For documents with multiple pages, combine the pages into one JPG file (side by side).
The merged JPG document should not exceed 500 KB in size. Documents larger than 500 KB cannot be uploaded and must be resized.
Inform your bank that the bank statement is for the RP application, so they will print one or two pages with minimal information.

The first screen requires Education Certificate, Bank Salary Statement, and Other Documents. Please upload the NOC and any translations (if any) to “Other Documents”.

On the second screen, a Marriage/Birth Certificate and a Passport (front and back) are required. After uploading all documents, click “Next”.

Step 9: The next screen will ask you to confirm your submission by clicking “Yes ”.

Step 10: After this step, your application number will be generated. To check the status, click on the arrow sign on the right. Once submitted, it will be marked as “Under Process”. Later, it will become “Under Review”.

You can pay the visa fees (QR 200) online via Metrash2 or in person at the Immigration Office if your visa is approved.

Qatar Family Visa Application Offline Process

The offline application requires a completed application form and the other documents mentioned above. If you need help filling out this application form, you can also get it filled out at a typing center.

To obtain the required documents, go to the Immigration Department in Al Gharafa (Location Map). The best time to go is between 6 and 9 in the morning.

Pick up a token number at reception, and wait for your turn. When your number appears on the screen, go to the counter and submit your documents. After the documents are reviewed, they will accept the application, and you will be notified by email within a few days.

If your visa is approved, you can pay the visa fees (QR 200) online via Metrash2 or at the Immigration Office. For payment, you will need a debit or credit card.

“Null” Status on Family Visa Application Receipt

The acknowledgment receipt our readers received after application submission contains only “null” in most fields, which has concerned some of our readers. Note that this is normal for all applicants. Qatar Family Visa Application Status (Under Process & Under Review)

Applicants are often confused when their family visa application status changes. Each application goes through “Under Process” and “Under Review” statuses multiple times before being approved .

Here is an example of how visa applications progress and what each stage means:

A status of Under Review to Under Process means the application is almost approved.

Only the Captain (superior officers) at Gharaffa Immigration can convert an application from Under Review to Under Process. If your application is in Stage 1, the Captain can move it directly to Stage 4.

Children under 15 years of age will be directly approved after the third stage (since they do not need CID clearance). The visa can only be printed once the mother’s application has been approved.

You do not need to take any action if your application status changes from Under Process to Under Review. When a change in status occurs, the application is usually approved within a few days.

There may be differences between the status we see on our Metrash and the status on the other company’s system.

What to do if Family Visa Application is Rejected?

Despite meeting all requirements, your visa application may be rejected. The Gharaffa Immigration Office can schedule a meeting with your visa approval committee.

The original receipt for the visa application will be kept by them, so make a copy of it. A copy of the meeting schedule will be given to you.

If your submitted documents do not pose any serious problems, the visa approval committee will schedule an appointment for you.

You will be asked simple questions during the meeting, such as your qualifications and profession. Be sure to keep copies of all your documents, including your education certificates, in case they ask for them. You will get approval in two days if everything goes well.

Family Members Enter Qatar

The Family Entry Visa allows family members to travel to Qatar once it has been approved. Visa holders usually can enter within 180 days of receiving their visas. On the visa, you will find the last entry date.

A 90-day validity period applies to entry visas, during which medical tests and fingerprinting are required.

The family members can pay the visa fee if they are currently in Qatar on a visit visa.

Undergo the Medical Test

The visa holder must first undergo a medical examination before applying for a Residence Permit (RP). The purpose of this test is to prevent the spread of infectious diseases from newcomers to the population and protect the health of the population.

An official visa medical exam is conducted by the Qatar Medical Commission. Medical Commission Department is located on Al Muntazah Street, off E-Ring Road (Google map). Sunday through Thursday, 7:00 am to 7:00 pm, are the working hours of the Medical Commission.

You will receive a blood test to determine whether you have HIV/AIDS, hepatitis B, or hepatitis C. You will also receive a physician’s check-up and chest X-ray to determine whether you have tuberculosis.

Medical examination results are electronically transmitted to the Ministry of Interior’s residency system. The Metrash mobile app or SMS will notify you of the results two or three days after the medical test. The results can also be viewed online at the MoPH website .

Medical Tests For Children

The average child under the age of 15 doesn’t have to go for a medical test. The sponsor’s Metrash app should show whether the “Issue Residence Permit” option is available for the child when they arrive in Qatar.

If the option does not appear, you must pay QR 100 at the Medical Commission (show your passport and visa copy). The system will be updated with the new status.

Undergo Fingerprints Process

The Ministry of Interior requires adults to register their fingerprints digitally after completing the medical test.

Nowadays, fingerprints can be taken at any Ministry of Interior (MOI) Service Center (except Gharaffa).

The following documents are required for fingerprinting:

Fingerprint Application Form. You can fill out this form at a typing center*. Some MOI Service Centers may not require this
Medical Receipt
Residence Visa copy

The Metrash2 app or SMS will notify you once the fingerprinting process has been completed.

Apply for Qatar ID Card

The final step is to apply for a Qatar ID (Residence Permit Card). This can be done at MOI Service Centers or online through Metrash.

Applying for Qatar ID at MOI Service Centre

The Ministry of Interior (MOI) Service Centers are available to assist you if you are applying directly for Qatar ID.

MOI Service Center requires the following documents to apply for Qatar ID:

Application form completed (download link). This can be filled out at a typing center. Family member’s original passport
Sponsor’s Qatar ID
Passport-size photo of a family member (35 x 45 mm with blue background)

The family member will have to sign the form near the photo when MOI officials ask for their signature. You can write their names instead of their signatures if they are children.

MOI Service Centers require applicants to bring a completed application form, while some will give them a paper to sign.

Qatar ID Fee

The Residence Permit costs QR 500 for the first year.

Within 5 minutes of paying the fee, the Qatar ID will be printed.

Applying for Qatar ID through Metrash

If you do not wish to visit MOI Service Centre, you must select this option. Follow these steps once you receive a message that your fingerprint has been approved:

Open the Metrash2 app
Go to the “ Residency ” section
Select “ Issue Residence Permit ”
Enter the required details
Upload a passport-size photo (blue background)
Take a picture of your family member’s signature and upload it. Write your child’s name on a piece of paper and upload it as their signature.
Pay QR 500 plus QR 20 for QPost delivery

Your QID delivery can be tracked on the MOI website. Tracking can be done using the sponsor’s QID number.

Qatar Family Visa Fees

Document attestation and typing center fees (if necessary) will be extra. If you transfer a visit visa to a residence visa without leaving the country, you will be charged QR 500 per person.

Registering For National Address

Make sure the new QID holder’s National Address is registered once the QID is printed. This can be done at any MOI service center or through the Metrash app.

Children’s National Addresses can be registered via their sponsor’s Metrash app. Her wife must get a SIM card with a QID and register a National Address before she can register on Metrash.

Note that Qatar IDs cannot be renewed without registering National Addresses.

Rules For Sponsoring Adult Children

When applying for a visa, male children aged 25 and over cannot be on either parent’s visa. Daughters are not restricted by age as long as they are not married.

A child with an existing QID who is over the legal age may be granted a Residence Permit under their parents’ sponsorship for one more year to seek employment.

Work Permit for Spouse and Children

Dependent spouses and children older than 18 who wish to work require a special work permit. Also, this work permit can be applied for through the Metrash app.

Sen. Chris Coons (D-DE) has pushed Qatari officials to increase pressure on Hamas to reach a deal to release the hostages held in Gaza, the lawmaker told Jewish Insider on Tuesday.

“I have reached out directly to the ambassador, to the sheikh, to the foreign minister, to say, ‘You need to do more to pressure Hamas to get to the table, to get a hostage deal.’ I know our president has applied more pressure,” Coons told JI.

Coons signed a bipartisan joint statement last month saying that Qatar should expel Hamas leadership if negotiations fail, indicated he found a new bill , which calls for a review of Qatar’s status as a major non-NATO ally, premature.

“Whether we’re at that step” of revoking major non-NATO ally status — “that strikes me as what you do when they demonstrably refuse to do anything substantive. But I think it’s constructive that members are discussing that,” Coons said.

The bill, introduced by sens. Ted Budd (R-NC), Joni Ernst (R-IA) and Rick Scott (R-FL), seeks to end Qatar’s financial support for terrorist groups and calls on the Gulf nation to expel or extradite Hamas leadership.

Ramadan Working Hours: The Ministry of Interior has announced the official working hours of its departments during the holy month of Ramadan. The General Directorate of Passports offices will be open from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM.

MARCH 2024 STATUS

Currently, the Family Visit Visa also requires CEID verification for adults. This stage comes after the visa number is issued. The application status on Metrash will be “Under Process” with the visa number. On average this is taking 1-2 weeks. Since September, Family Visit Visa applications are being accepted for visitors aged 60 and above . Many recent applicants have already received their visa numbers. Additionally, visit visa extensions of up to 6 months are permitted for spouses and children. Since the first week of October 2023, there has been a delay in approvals for adults . Some applications are taking 3-4 weeks. Applications for family visit visas can be submitted online using the Metrash app. The new Immigration office at Al Duhail is now allowing entry for expatriates who want to make changes to their Visit Visa or Family RP applications or resubmit documents. You can park your car in the basement and proceed to the first floor.

Health Insurance For Family Visit Visa

Health insurance is now mandatory for a Family Visit Visa. Once your visa is approved, you will receive an SMS with a link to purchase the health insurance online.

Applicants can buy health insurance for QAR 50 per month from any of the registered insurance companies listed on the MOPH website. More details about visitors’ insurance are available here .

Attestation For Marriage Certificate

Until recently, most visit visa applications for spouses were approved without an attested marriage certificate. However, nowadays attestation is compulsory for marriage certificates .

For a Family Visit Visa, attestation is not mandatory for children’s birth certificates . It is mandatory for a Family Residence Visa.

Expatriate residents in Qatar can apply for a family visit visa subject to meeting minimum salary and professional requirements .

Minimum Salary For Family Visit Visa in Qatar

The minimum salary required to apply for a Family Visit Visa in Qatar for spouses and children is QR 5,000 per month.

A minimum monthly salary of QR 10,000 is required to apply for Family Visit Visas for other relatives.

Profession Requirement for Family Visit Visa in Qatar

Most expatriates with the required minimum salary are eligible to apply for a family visit visa. However, some applications may be rejected if the applicant’s profession on Qatar ID is labour-type.

Even if an application is rejected due to an ineligible profession, the Captain at the MOI Service Center has the power to change the decision.

If applying for a visit visa for wife and children

While applying through Metrash, the following documents should be uploaded:

Visitor’s passport copy (minimum validity of 6 months)
Proof of relationship (Wife: Marriage Certificate / Children: Birth Certificate)
Round-trip flight tickets

Employment details are not required when applying through the Metrash app, as currently labour contracts are linked with the Metrash system.

If applying for a visit visa for other relatives

Only married expatriates with family in Qatar can apply to sponsor other relatives.

Proof of relationship (Birth Certificate, Passport, etc.)

Qatar Family Visit Visa fee is QAR 200 for 30 days . The entry visa can be extended by paying QAR 200 per month.

Medical check-up: A medical check-up for a visa extension costs QAR 100.
Fine for overstaying: The fine for overstaying beyond the allowed period is QR 200 per day.

Qatar Family Visit Visas are initially issued for one month (30 days) . After the visitor enters Qatar and undergoes a medical test, the visa can be further extended for another five months for spouses and children (total 180 days) and two more months for other relatives (total 90 days).

Health insurance needs to be taken for the additional period.

As the rules may change from time to time, an extension beyond 90 90-day stay is not guaranteed. If you are planning to extend for 5 more months (after one month) please confirm with the Immigration Department before purchasing additional insurance.

Number of Days To Enter Qatar After Visa Approval

Once the visa is approved, it will have the “visa valid till” date printed on the top. This is the last date for entry to Qatar (not the last date of stay in Qatar). Currently, it is 90 days from the date of visa approval . Visitors cannot use this visa after this date.

Traditionally, applying for a family visit visa was to visit any Ministry of Interior (MoI) Service Centre and submit copies of the documents along with the printed application form.

In 2018, Qatar introduced an online system where residents can apply for family visit visas through the Metrash2 mobile.

Through this service, you can upload all the required documents in the specified fields. You can also track the application status and pay the fees electronically once approved.

Below are the steps to apply for a Qatar Family Visit Visa using the Metrash mobile app.

Step 1. Open the Metrash2 app on your mobile and log in

If you haven’t registered for Metrash2, see our comprehensive Metrash2 User Guide .

Step 2. Click on the “Visa” icon

Step 3. Click on the “Issue Visa” icon

Step 4. Click on the “Family Visit” icon

Step 5. Select “Family Visa Application”

Make sure to select “Family Visa Application”, not “Family Resident Application”.

Step 6. Click on “New Application”

The details to fill up include Gender, Relation, Nationality, Date of Birth, Passport Details etc.

Step 9. Upload the required photos or scans of the documents

Document scans/photos must be clear and readable .
For documents with multiple pages, you must combine both photos/scans to create one JPG file .
When uploading passports, photo and bio pages should be on the same side.
For “Marriage Certificate (Others)”, you can upload the attested backside of the marriage certificate.
Often a birth certificate is asked to prove your relationship with the visitor. If this is unavailable, you can also use any other document proving the relationship.

Step 10. You will receive an update after a few days

If there are any missing or mismatched documents, you will be notified to make the required changes. After verifying and approving the application, you will receive an application number.

The application status will change to “Under Process”, “Under Review” and again to “Under Process” before getting approved.

Step 11. Pay the required fee

Once the visa is approved, you have to pay the visa fee (QR 200) online via Metrash. To make the payment, go to the “Visa Fees Payment” icon on the “Visa Operation” page.

Step 12. Buy health insurance

From April 2023, health insurance needs to be taken after the visit visa is approved (not during application).

Once your visa is approved, you will receive a message to buy the insurance. While buying the insurance, enter the visa number and it will be updated in the Metrash system. The visa can be printed only after insurance has been purchased.

After this, you can download the visa copy and send it to the visitor for travel.

You can also check the family visit visa status on the Ministry of Interior website under Inquiries >> Visa Services >> Visa Approval Tracking ( link ).

Enter the application number and application date or sponsor’s QID number. Make sure all the required details are filled in correctly, and you’ll be able to check your visa status.

The Ministry of Interior (MOI) no longer entertains offline applications for family visit visas. You are required to apply via the Metrash mobile app.

There may be several reasons why your family visit visa application is rejected. Often it is due to submitting wrong or insufficient documents.

If the document photo is not clear or not attested (in the case of a marriage certificate), you can do the attestation and resubmit again. However, it is imperative to understand the reason and fix it before applying again.

Applications can also be rejected if the applicant (a Qatar resident) does not comply with the required conditions (salary or profession). If the application is rejected due to the applicant not meeting the salary requirement, it would be difficult to get approved again.

However, in case of rejection due to profession, you can try to meet the Captain at the Immigration Office in Duhail , and request for reconsideration. Sometimes he would approve if the profession is acceptable.

If your application is still under review or process, you can cancel it by clicking on the right arrow on the status page. If this option is not available, you will have to visit any MOI Service Center.

As the initial visa is issued for one month only, the sponsor has to extend it within the first month to avoid any penalties.

Relatives wishing to stay beyond one month must undergo a medical test within a few days. Here is the detailed process of the medical test for a visit visa extension .

Once the medical examination is passed, the visit visa can be extended online using the Metrash mobile app (Visa –> Visa Services –> Extend Visa) or by visiting any MOI service centre.

If the return ticket is after 30 days, some airlines may not allow visitors to board the flight since the initial visa is only for 30 days. So make sure to book a flight ticket that can be modified with a minimum change fee. In this way, once the visitor reaches Qatar, the ticket dates can be modified.

As this is an online visa, some airlines may require an “OK to Board” status in their system before departure. You can get this status by showing the visa copy to the airline’s Doha office.

“Null” Status on Visit Visa Application Receipt

Please note that this is normal for all applicants. This document is only an acknowledgement that they received your application. Your application details will be in the system.

Applicants often get confused about changes to their visit visa application status. It is normal that each visit visa application moves through “Under Process” and “Under Review” statuses multiple times before approval.

If your application status changes between these two, you do not have to do anything. In most cases, the application will be approved within days of a status change.
