The legend of the city founder

Welcome to the Old Town. Dating back to the Middle Ages, it’s the oldest enclave of Bucharest. The city as we know it today is a metropolis of over 2 million people. However, back in the 14th century, it was an area covered by thick forests, green pastures and crossed by a small river, called Dambovita. According to legend, the river was so named after the daughter of Bucur, a local shepherd. One day, he was attacked by invaders who kidnapped his daughter, the beautiful Dambovita. Bucur, alongside some friends, bravely chased them for hundreds of miles, all the way to the frozen waters of Dnieper river. The captors tried to cross the icy river, but it shattered and they drowned. Fortunately, Bucur's daughter could swim, and she was pulled out of the icy water. After returning home, to honor his courageous deeds, the place where Bucur lived was renamed after him - Bucuresti - the city of Bucur.

In conclusion, there are various Bucharest tours available in different languages. Visitors can choose from a range of options catering to their language preferences, ensuring a comfortable and informative experience while exploring the city.

Are there any private Bucharest tours available?

Yes, numerous private Bucharest tours are available for visitors who want to explore the city more personalized and exclusively. Private tours offer a range of advantages over group tours, as they allow for a more tailored and flexible itinerary, personalized attention from a local expert guide, and a more intimate and immersive experience overall.

Private Bucharest tours can be customized to fit different interests and preferences, whether you are interested in history, architecture, food, culture, or any other aspect of the city. Some of the most popular private tours in Bucharest include walking tours of the historic center, guided visits to museums and landmarks, culinary tours to sample traditional Romanian dishes, and day trips to nearby attractions such as the Snagov Monastery, the Bran Castle, or the Peles Castle .

To find and book private Bucharest tours , several options are available online. Many tour operators and travel agencies offer private tours that can be booked in advance, often with the option to customize the itinerary and select the preferred language and duration of the tour. Alternatively, you can opt for a private guide offering a more personalized and flexible experience, often at a more affordable price than a tour company.

When choosing a private Bucharest tour, it is crucial to consider factors such as the guide's qualifications, experience, and language skills, as well as the availability of transportation and other logistics. By researching and planning, you can find the perfect private tour that meets your needs and expectations and allows you to discover the best of Bucharest in a way that suits you best.

One of the benefits of a private Bucharest tour is the flexibility it offers. Unlike group tours that follow a fixed schedule and itinerary, private tours can be tailored to your interests and preferences, allowing you to explore the city at your own pace and focus on the sights and experiences that matter most to you. Whether you want to spend more time in a particular neighbourhood, visit a museum or landmark not on the standard tourist circuit, or try a local restaurant in Bucharest off the beaten path, a private tour can help you get the most out of your time in Bucharest.

Another advantage of a private Bucharest tour is the opportunity to interact with a local expert guide who can provide insider knowledge and insights into the city's history, culture, and way of life. A knowledgeable guide can bring the city to life through stories, anecdotes, and personal experiences, giving you a deeper understanding and appreciation of Bucharest's past and present.

Personalized attention is another aspect that makes private tours an excellent choice for visitors. With a private guide, you'll have their undivided attention and can ask questions, seek recommendations, and engage in conversations tailored to your interests and preferences. This personalized attention can help you build a deeper connection with the city and make your visit more memorable and enjoyable.

In conclusion, a private tour is an excellent option if you are looking for a personalized and exclusive way to explore Bucharest. Whether you are a solo traveller, a couple, or a small group, a private tour can offer flexibility, local expertise, and personalized attention that larger tour companies cannot match. By choosing a private tour, you can customize your itinerary to your interests, learn from a knowledgeable local guide, and enjoy a more intimate and rewarding travel experience.

So why not consider booking a private Bucharest tour for your next trip to this fascinating city? You'll discover hidden gems and create unforgettable memories that will last a lifetime.

A brilliant, informative, and very fun day trip to Transylvania!

I went to Bucharest as a solo female traveler and wanted to find some way to be able to experience Transylvania without all of the hard work of catching trains! This was perfect.

An exciting, insightful experience

Our guide was extremely nice and knowledgeable. She gave us an excellent historical background of the region and the sites that we visited. She provided us with excellent photos of the castles, and had several good recommendations for how to spend our free time in Brasov.

Day well spent

This was a private tour for us (family of 17). The guide Boogie was one of the best I have come across. Very interactive and pleasant personality. He made our trip fun. Rightly paced, comfortable bus, extra perks /accommodations to suit our likings. Smiling face inspite of delay late in the day.

He went always out of his way to give you the best enjoyment and experience. He even knew exactly where to take you to see the wild bears of Romania in the woods.

Dracula Tour in Romania from Bucharest including \'The Ritual of Killing of a Living Dead Tour

Dracula Tour in Romania from Bucharest including 'The Ritual of Killing of a Living Dead

This was my dream vacation come true. I will treasure these memories forever. However, the Tour Radar brochure shows this tour is for people 7 - 90 years old. This is very deceiving. There is no way a 90 year old could do all the walking involved. This is a very intense walking tour and there is much walking every day. This needs to be specified. There would be very little wheelchair access along this tour. Additionally, Poienari Fortress has been closed for several years with no plan to reopen anytime soon. This attraction was one of the reasons I booked this specific tour. You need to remove it from the brochure. Again, it is very misleading. Also remove the Borgo Pass, as they do not go there. This was another attraction I wanted to see but did not get to. You may want to add to the brochure that there are several hotels that do not have air conditioning. All that being said I had the most wonderful time.

The tour was excellent. I would rate it 11 out of 10. Our tour guide George was the best tour guide that we have ever had. Beautiful country and some amazing experiences in a land of contrasts. George and Rolandia could not do enough for us to ensure that we had the trip of a lifetime. Some of the highlights included a home cooked meal and entertainment, a traditional horse and cart ride, stunning castles and churches, quaint villages and amazing scenery wherever you looked. Thank you George and Rolandia. We are already planning a trip back next year.

The Carpathian Mountains of Romania are stunning and we enjoyed each day of hiking this beautiful area. Kosten our hiking guide was knowledgeable and adjusted our daily hikes per our requests. His expertise and humour greatly enriched our experience. Accommodations and meals were good and mixing in some cultural sites of the area was a bonus. A great week!

What people love about Romania Tours from Bucharest

Romania is a beautiful country. We saw so many places and I enjoyed all the places we stayed. Marcel, our tour guide, was very diligent about finding out what we were most excited to see. As long as we all were agreeable, he was flexible to our wants and needs. There were four of us in the group and two of us were solo travelers. All of our wants and needs aligned well and I think everyone enjoyed the tour. We saw 4 bears, and lots of stray dogs that we stopped for and fed (Romanians take care of their strays). We had a great afternoon with a pottery maker— quite talented. We saw painted monasteries, walled forts, castles and churches. Our group as a whole asked Marcel to bypass some of the monasteries in favor of reaching the cities that we were overnighting at and this gave us some more leisurely time to wander the cities.we ate some great Romanian food. This was a great tour with a flexible guide who is diligent, responsible and fluent in English. I am really glad that I went.
Excellent organizing skills and super pleasant company!
