In these terms and conditions, references to “ TMOZ ”, “ us ”, “ we ” and “ our ” mean Travel Money Currency Exchange Pty Ltd (ABN 46 121 451 723, AFSL 386837) trading as 'Travel Money Oz’. Our registered office is located at 275 Grey Street South Brisbane QLD 4101. You can also contact us on [email protected]

1. For the purposes of these terms and conditions:

a) a competitor is defined as an Australian registered business or website operating in the same state as the TMOZ store from which the customer is claiming the Best Price; and

b) Overall Transaction Price is identified as the lowest "real cost" charged by a competitor for a transaction at any given rate. This includes all fees that a competitor may charge such as service and delivery fees, and fees that are hidden in the rate mark-up.

2. We agree to beat any competitor’s Overall Transaction Price for a foreign currency exchange transaction by the equivalent of $1 AUD if all the following conditions are met:

a) the competitor’s rate is an official written quotation or a published rate available to the public;

b) the competitor’s official written quotation or published rate is presented to TMOZ on the same day that it is quoted or published and prior to undertaking any transaction with us;

c) the rate of exchange is based on the Overall Transaction Price and includes (but is not limited to) fees (including delivery fees), charges, commissions or levies charged on the transaction by the competitor; and

d) the competitor has the foreign currency available in stock to complete the transaction on the same day the Best Price claim is made to TMOZ. For online rates and orders, this means the foreign currency must be available for collection at the competitor’s store on the same day the Best Price claim is made.

3. The Best Price Guarantee applies to:

a) competitors who are deemed to be foreign exchange retailers / Bureau De Change operators whether online or from a physical location;

b) the purchase and / or sale of foreign currency notes only. Currency Card and other similar products are excluded from the Best Price guarantee.

c) a maximum Overall Transaction Price of $5,000 AUD, or its equivalent in foreign currency.

4. The Best Price Guarantee offer does not apply to a competitor’s quote based on exchanges made using foreign currency exchange derivative products (such as currency futures, currency options, currency exchange traded funds or etfs, forwards, currency interest rate swaps, etc), or available via foreign currency exchange trading products whether online, in person or via a broker.

5. The competitor’s official written quotation or published rate must be available to a member of the general public and not exclusive to a closed user group.

6. Proof of the competitor’s quote or published rate must be provided by official written quotation from the competitor or must be published as an available Overall Transaction Price to the general public on the provider's website or marketing materials.

7. Quotations must state the specific time and date of the quote and be given to us prior to undertaking a transaction, to allow comparison in real terms against the current days opening mid-market rate. Due to the daily fluctuations of the rate of exchange, a Best Price claim can only be made on the same calendar day to ensure a fair and consistent competitor comparison.

8. TMOZ reserves the right to verify the quoted price and availability of stock with the competitor for a same day transaction by conversing electronically, in person or via telephone with that competitor.

9. Should an instance occur where a customer finds a variation in the cash exchange rate between the TMOZ website and a physical store location, or between various TMOZ locations, the best price applicable within that comparison will be offered to the customer. This excludes the Currency Card rate from the TMOZ website.

10. In the instance TMOZ is unable to beat a competitor’s official written quotation or a published rate, the customer is entitled to receive the equivalent of $100 AUD payable in the form of a Currency Card. Should the customer already hold a Currency Card with TMOZ, the funds will be loaded on to their existing card. Our Currency Card is a financial product and as such has terms and conditions associated with its issuance and use. These terms and conditions can be viewed in the product disclosure statement (“ PDS ”) available online at www.travelmoneyoz.com or in hard copy at any TMOZ store. Only one Currency Card can be issued per customer in total. In the circumstances a Currency Card cannot be issued or loaded, the customer is entitled to a $100 AUD voucher for use at a TMOZ store.

11. We will not be required to beat a quote if a customer does not comply with these terms and conditions.

12. We reserve the right to amend these terms and conditions at any time or to withdraw from or suspend the Best Price Guarantee at any time without notice. In the event of large impact global events causing major disruptions to global currency markets. The Best Price offer cannot be used in conjunction with our Cash Commitment or Rate Move Guarantee, or any other discounts or promotions

13. The Best Price Guarantee is available to customers for personal use only. Commercial operators such as foreign currency wholesalers, other financial institutions or currency providers cannot utilise the Best Price for any purchase. TMOZ reserves the right to refuse to honour the Best Price offer to transactions which we suspect are not for personal use.

Beware using the Bpay number provided…

Beware using the Bpay number provided on the brochure.i have lost 1000.00 the money never showed up on my travel card. I will pursue this when I get home. I sent 4 emails requesting help from travel money oz, I could not call them as my travel sim card would not allow this. I could only email which they said they would not do. Basically I had no help and no money. Thank goodness I had mt visa card to make purchases. I would not recommend travel money oz. I still need to find my 1000. It's floating in cyber space somewhere. It was supposed to be a trusted BPay site.

Extortionists

These 'ladies' charged over $250 more than the other currency exchange I used that same morning for the same amount of currency converted. Jokes on me for going near Travel Money Oz. When confronted about paying close to 8% more than I should have to use their service they brushed me off and said it was normal practice. Absolutely gobsmacked they can steal so much money for a sub-par service. No clear communication about their dirty exchange rate practices, beware!

Staff at the Riverlink Branch of Travel Money Oz were able to take and exchange money from a trip to Vanuatu. Other institutions I had tried just simply turned me away without a glimmer of help. Don’t go here, arrogant, rude staff

Just got off the representative for the Moonee ponds store, who was the most arrogant, discourteous, rude and unprofessional person. This store won’t last if that’s a reflection of quality of staff they have. Hopefully they did record the conversation for training purposes as this member of staff needs. Don’t go there!!!!!

Travel Oz rate gap between branch and online rate

On Thursday, February 8, 2024 at 9.49 am, I exchanged 1497.50 Australian Dollar for 1480 New Zealand Dollar at the rate of 0.9883 (that is 1 AUD = 0.9883 NZD). I did this transaction at Travel Money Oz Galleria (Elizabeth St., VIC). I have the receipt with the Deal Ref: 702100-068300. When I checked the online rate provided by Travel Oz, I found that the rate for February 8, 2024 is 1.0299 (that is 1 AUD = 1.0299, thus 1497.5 AUD = 1542.28 NZD). How is it possible that a branch can set a rate that is so much different than the online announced rate at the Travel OZ website? This is unacceptable. I also wrote to the Customer Assistance about my concern with this transaction (as it is impossible to reach someone via phone) and I was told to receive a response in 2 business days. I will not let this one go. If they do not resolve this issue immediately (within the said timeframe), I will also write to press as well as consumer affairs.

Beware, try the competitors first

Not happy at all with a recent transaction with Travel Oz Money Received a lot of unwelcome advice ,I have travelled before Exchange rate on XPF was particularly poor could only get 100K at 53.69 to AU Went next door to Travelex and got another 100K at 61.25 to AU Granted XPF is not a common currency so beware I recommend shopping around as OZ does not offer ta reasonable rate

Don't use them!!!! Horrendous company!

My account was suspended after 1 day of having the card. They refused to unlock the account without sending them a picture of my passport, bank statement, and a selfie with the government issued ID to an email address. Anyone that knows anything about cyber security should know PII over email is extremely insecure. Horrendous customer service where they speak minimal English and talk over you because any form of logic is non-existent. Disgusting company and service! AFCA is going to have a field day with this one.

Customer service is very poor

I have travel money card with Euro balance of $114 which will be expiring very soon on the 12/23 and I have tried to call customer service 1300426 997, 136195 several times and I am unable to get any assistance also I am not able to recovery online access as I have lost my email when I was registered. please kindly Give me your feedback through text message

Always check exchange rate on line before buying in store

Be careful when exchanging money in store. I checked on line with them and when I went to store they offered a much lower rate. I bought this to the persons attention and they quickly changed the rates. What happened to the old days when various exchange rates were displayed in store.

Unfair- greedy company

Companies charge me interest when Im loaned thousands of dollars, what gives them the right to charge additional fees to do a currency exchange from there slow application. You can invest the thousdands I put in your accout. Voucher codes with your money? What saving on what you've saved? Ridiculous. Cards unreliable aswell.

A really convenient way to pay by card when you're overseas. I loaded the card with o/s currency at my local TO booth and kept track of spending online and I'll switch the remaining money to another o/s currency when I next travel.

helpful staff, not so useful card

While sales staff at Gold Coast were kind and helpful, the card worked inconsistently while I was overseas. It was declined by several services despite the balance being high. The app also stopped working after a few transactions so I could not even check the balance or recharge. The telephone never answered when I tried to contact. I returned to Australia with unspent funds and the card was declined at big stores. Not worth the trouble.

Travelex vs Travel Money Oz vs S Money

Travelex, Travel Money Oz and S Money all allow Australians to buy currency online. But which one is the cheapest?

While S Money has the best exchange rates, it does have a service fee. This means that to find the cheapest option, you need to look at the total cost of the currency including all the fees.

You can either go to each site and get a quote with each company or use an exchange rate comparison table that includes not just exchange rates, but any service fee too.

While price is important, it's not the only difference between these 3 currency exchange services. Here is a better look at each option:

S Money is an online only currency exchange, so they don’t have any bricks and mortar stores. If you order online, you can pick up your currency in the CBD or have it delivered within 20k’s of the city for $19. They are the only money exchange that offer the same exchange rate seen on Google or XE but they do charge a service fee.

How S Money stacks up

S Money doesn't have any retail stores like Travelex or Travel Money Oz. While this helps them offer a better rate, it also means that you can't sell them currency, you can only buy currency. It also means that you have to order and pay for your currency online and can't pick up from the Airport like Travelex.

Online, all 3 companies offer 'click and collect. S Money and Travelex offer delivery unlike Travel Money Oz but with Travelex, you can pick up from Australia Post stores or the airport.

If you are in a hurry, S Money is quicker than Travelex and Travel Money Ozwith most orders delivered or ready for pick up the next day.

Travelex and Travel Money Oz have a much bigger range of currencies so if you are looking for Argentine Peso or Vietnamese Dong, they are a better option.

Travelex is the biggest foreign exchange company in the Australia. They have the biggest range of currencies and collection locations but they aren't aways the cheapest.

Travelex have many locations across Australia. You can order online and collect your currency at a store, an Australia Post office or even the airport. They also offer delivery for online orders.

How Travelex stacks up

Much like Coles and Woolworths, Travelex and Travel Money Oz have a near duopoly in Australia when it comes to currency exchange. So their exchange rates, fees, services and overall offering are very similar.

Compared to S Money, their exchange rates aren't as good but they don't charge a service fee . They have a bigger range of currencies and collection locations including the airport.

Travel Money Oz has dozens of outlets throughout every state in Australia. They are owned by the Flight Centre and have good, personal in-store service.

How Travel Money Oz stacks up

Travel Money Oz is very similar to Travelex. It has a large network of stores. They both allow you to order a large range of currencies online to collect in-store and both are very large reputable companies. Even their exchange rates are very similar. Online, the experience is almost identical.

Compared to S Money, the big difference is their stores. Travel Money Oz has a huge network of bricks and mortar stores where as S Money is purely online. This also means that S Money has better exchange rates and charge a service fee. S Money also offers delivery for online orders which Travel Money Oz is yet to roll out.

Travelex and Travel Money are incredibly similar in most aspects like exchange rates fees and services.

S Money is difference from both companies because they offer the real online exchange rate and don't charge an exchange rate margin. They do charge a service fee though.

All offer online services but S Money has no stores.

You can buy or sell a big range of currencies at Travel Money Oz and Travelex but at S Money you can only buy the most popular currencies like US dollars, euros, pounds and yen.
