Crushers Baseball
The Danville Baseball Academy started their travel ball teams over 10 years ago. The Crushers are the longest standing youth club team in the Tri Valley. We are proud of the consistency the program has and the following we have garnered.
The goal of Crushers baseball is to develop young baseball players into fine young boys and girls and quality ball players. The idea of reps, training, coaching, development, play time, field time, cage time, playing different positions, no parental influence, set schedules, and longevity is what attracts new families to the Crushers each year.
All teams are coached by either a coach who has played in college or played in the minor leagues. We do not have any dads coaching the teams. We teach the game they way it should be played. We don’t have our 3b holding runners on, we don’t bunt when we are up by 7 runs to get to the slaughter rule, we don’t steal when we are ahead by more than 8, etc.
If you are looking for a program that wants to win at all costs, and travels all around the United States in search of glory, this is not the program for you. We are development first, the wins will come, but we want to get the kids ready to play high school baseball and beyond. The system works, and it is a proven system. Players and families that stay in our program for 3-4 years see the improvements and development of their players and the success in making them high school ready.
Age Level Information
Here is some more general information about the Fall and Spring programs:
-Starts around the second week of September and goes through the second week of November – usually an 8 week season -We practice 1x one week and 2x the next, alternating throughout the fall -Games on Sundays ( for less conflicts with soccer/football ) and 2 tournaments -Everyone plays and gets a chance to play new positions so we can evaluate them for the spring season -Batting order is random so kids get the same at bats as each other -Very relaxed with attendance during the Fall season
-Starts around mid January and goes through end of June or beginning of July depending the tournament schedules -Practice 2x a week every week -Games 3 of 4 weekends a month on Saturday and Sunday -Play a mix of 680 Diablo League games and tournaments -Looking at 45-55 games throughout the year -We take major holidays off ( Presidents Day, Spring Break, Easter, Memorial Day) -February- Mid April positions and batting orders will move around so the coaches get to know who can do what -Starting end of April positions will be solidified and a constant batting order will be apparent -If the best players has 150 at bats, the worst player will have 130 at bats

Friday baseball: Brady Kaufman was in total control against unbeaten New Lexington.
NEW LEXINGTON — With Brady Kaufman and Isaac McGill on the mound, runs were going to be at a premium in New Lexington on Friday.
It proved impossible for the host Panthers.
Kaufman fired five shutout innings with seven strikeouts, and two relievers escaped late trouble as visiting Tri-Valley pulled away for a 4-0 win in a Muskingum Valley League crossover.
The win kept Tri-Valley (8-1, 7-0 MVL-Big) tied atop the Big School Division standings with Sheridan, which the Scotties play on Monday and Tuesday in their only meetings. New Lex (9-1, 7-1 MVL-Small) lost for the first time in 10 games but still lead the Small School Division by one game.

Kaufman and McGill posted three straight scoreless innings, but the Scotties broke through with three two-out runs in the fourth.
McGill struck out the first two batters, but a dropped third strike allowed Gavin Harrold to reach. After two walks loaded the bases, a passed ball brought a run home to break the tie.
Ryan Lamonica followed with a lined single to center to bring home two more to push the lead to 3-0, and Ashton Sensibaugh's sacrifice fly in the fifth added the final run.
New Lex had the bases loaded with two outs in the sixth against reliever Kyler Brennan but failed to score after Lane Baker grounded out.
Jacob Dold's double led New Lex, which had five hits but struck out 10 times. McGill yielded two hits, walked two, hit two and struck out 10 in five innings.

Winders had the Generals' only extra-base hit. Wamer and Fox had two singles, while White pitched five innings. Caden Sheridan struck out 10 in four innings of one-hit relief to get the win.
Rosecrans 8, Lancaster Fisher Cath. 7 (8 inn.): The Bishops trailed 5-1 in the fourth but rallied for a Mid-State League-Cardinal Division win on the road.

Part of the solution to the Blue Jays' offensive malaise might be found down in Triple-A Buffalo.
Look no further than Orelvis Martinez . MLB’s No. 81 prospect has homered in three consecutive games and four of his last five. He has brought up his slash line to .317/.368/.667 with a 1.035 OPS, and he did so in one of the most emphatic ways possible.
The Blue Jays' No. 2 prospect didn’t take long to continue his hot streak Friday. In the first inning of Triple-A Buffalo’s 9-3 loss , Martinez whiffed at back-to-back pitches before connecting with a high four-seam fastball from Columbus righty Adam Oller.
- Subscribe to Ben’s Biz Beat Newsletter
The ball was smoked with a 104.4 mph exit velocity for a solo shot, sailing into the back of the bleachers at Huntington Park . Incredibly, that power display looked minuscule compared to what the 22-year-old did two innings later.
Martinez, once again facing Oller, crushed a hanging slurve ball down the middle of the plate, sending the ball into the fans sitting on the berm in left-center field.
The distance on the second dinger? 434 feet. The exit velocity? 105 mph. Is Martinez showing Major League power? He sure is.
All of his home runs this season have been hit with an exit velocity of at least 100 mph and three of them have traveled at least 400 feet. His most impressive one, however, came on April 17 when Martinez socked a go-ahead grand slam 469 feet in extra innings.
The Bisons are seeing the benefits of having Martinez, but soon the Blue Jays might want to cash in on having that right-handed power in their lineup. Toronto’s offense could use a jolt, as it ranks 22nd in the Majors in runs scored, 22nd in RBIs and 19th in batting average.

Western Wayne embraces youth movement in Lackawanna League softball action
VARDEN — Over the course of the past decade, Western Wayne has struggled a bit to attain relevance on the high school softball scene.
The ‘Cats haven’t had a winning season since 2009 when they went 8-6 and advanced to then semifinals of the District 2 Class AA tournament.
Last spring, in an attempt to break into the Lackawanna League’s upper echelon, coach Joe Romanowski made a bold decision. The skipper went all-in with a youth movement that saw his varsity lineup dominated by underclassmen.
“Hey, we were starting six and sometimes seven freshman,” Romanowski said of a team that went 1-13 in league action. “We obviously didn’t win a lot of games, but I think we started laying down a pretty good foundation.”

And while the youngsters undeniably took some lumps last year, this season they’re already started to show flashes of the talent Romanowski hopes will propel them upward in the Division II standings.
“We can definitely swing the bats a little bit,” he said. “I’d put our top six hitters up against pretty much anybody. We’ve also got some pitching depth and the defense is starting to come around, too. We’re moving in the right direction.”
Weather permitting, Western Wayne will be back on the diamond Saturday at Lakeland. First pitch is scheduled for 11 a.m.
On-field leadership
Emily Romanowski and Raegan Palmer are leading the way offensively for Western Wayne so far this spring.
Romanowski is a multi-sport standout who also excels in basketball and volleyball. A battle-tested senior who catches and occasionally pitches, Romanowski leads the team in batting with a robust .438 average.
Palmer is a junior who’s coming off a stellar volleyball season. The second baseman bats in the two-hole and is currently hitting .389 with a team-best nine runs scored.
Trinity Graboske, Khloe Mistishin, Adysen Wargo and Hannah DeStefano are also making key contributions at the plate.
Graboske is a senior who plays multiple positions. She’s coming off a big junior year in which she batted .314 and was second on the team in hits. This spring, Graboske is once again swinging a hot bat with a .333 average.
Mistishin is a versatile athlete who pitches, patrols the outfield and plays shortstop. The hard-hitting junior bats clean-up and leads the team with six RBIs to this point in the young season.
Wargo is just a freshman but she’s already making her presence felt on varsity. Wargo pitches and plays the infield while batting third in the order. To date, she’s hitting over .400 with four RBIs and four runs scored.
DeStefano is a junior who anchors the infield at first base. She bats fifth and provides serious pop at the plate. Last year, DeStefano was among the team leaders in hits, runs scored and RBIs.
“This is just a great group of kids,” Joe Romanowski said. “I like this ballclub because they get along so well and they work really hard. They’re a coachable bunch and they’re getting better everyday.”
Flashes of brilliance
Western Wayne opened up its regular season slate with a home game against perennial title contender Holy Cross.
The ‘Cats dug themselves an early hole against the Crusaders, trailing 8-0 after two innings. However, they came roaring right back and played stellar ball the rest of the way.
Emily Romanowski paced the offensive attack, going 2-for-3 with two runs scored and a pair of RBIs. Palmer also slapped two hits and scored twice, while Graboske drove in two.
Even though his team ended up losing 11-7, Joe Romanowski believes the game served as a wake-up call.
“Holy Cross is a pretty good team and we outplayed them over the last five innings of that game,” he said. “I really think a light went on for some of our kids. They realized that they can compete with anybody.”
Western Wayne followed up this solid performance with its first win of the season, an impressive 10-3 thrashing of Riverside.
Wargo earned the starting nod and pitched a complete game. The young righty worked seven innings, allowing just four hits and no earned runs. She struck out five and walked two.
Romanowski and Palmer once again did the majority of damage offensively. The former went 2-for-3 with three runs scored while the latter ripped three hits and scored four times.
DeStefano went 2-for-4 with three RBIs and Mistishin drove in a pair. Wargo helped her own cause with two RBIs and two runs scored.
“We can definitely swing it a little bit,” Joe Romanowski said. “And we have a few kids who are instinctively very good at running the bases. If we can improve our defense and be more consistent pitching-wise, we’re going to be OK.”
