“We are all so excited to come back to the UK with these action-packed shows,” said IMPACT Wrestling president Scott D’Amore. “The British fans have always been among our most loyal and passionate supporters and have been yearning for IMPACT’s return for many years now. What makes this tour even more special is that there are many stars on the IMPACT roster who these wonderful fans will now have the chance to see live and in-person for the first time ever.”

Tickets for all three UK shows go on-sale Friday, August 4 at impactwrestling.com. Ticket prices start at just £35.

The 2023 UK Invasion Tour will feature IMPACT Wrestling World Champion Alex Shelley plus Moose, Eddie Edwards, Deonna Purrazzo, Kazarian, Brian Myers, ABC (Ace Austin & Chris Bey) and hometown hero Joe Hendry, among many others.

IMPACT officials have confirmed the tour will also feature the IMPACT return of Scottish wrestling hero and star of hit TV shows Scot Squad and Two Doors Down – Grado.

IMPACT Hall of Famer Gail Kim and hardcore icon Tommy Dreamer will also make special appearances each night of the UK Invasion Tour.

The last IMPACT UK Tour took place in January 2016 and featured Gail Kim, Rosemary, Eric Young and Mark Andrews. IMPACT stars including Moose also wrestled in Manchester in 2018.

Coventry is a historic city for IMPACT as some of the company’s first ever British shows took place there back in 2008. Scotland, the home of both Grado and Joe Hendry, also holds a special place in IMPACT history as its first ever live UK TV show was broadcast from Glasgow in 2014.

The UK Invasion Tour follows the June announcement that IMPACT Wrestling’s flagship weekly show,  IMPACT! , is available on Sky UK via DAZN’s linear TV channel, DAZN 1 HD.

IMPACT!  is televised on Friday evenings at 23:00 UK time on DAZN 1 HD, channel 429 (check weekly listings), as well as being available on the DAZN and IMPACT Plus streaming services and IMPACT Insiders YouTube Channel.

A major WWE event will swap Wales for Scotland, it has been announced.

Clash At The Castle brought over £21m to the Welsh economy when it took place in September 2022.

The event will now take place at the OVO Hydro in Glasgow on 15 June.

WWE president Nick Khan said he was "excited" to bring the event to the wrestling organisation's "amazing fans in Scotland ".

"The world will see that this is one of the UK's best venues and Scottish crowds are some of the loudest, craziest and most passionate on the planet," he added.

The Welsh government said they were not like for like events due to the difference in capacity.

The first event was held in Cardiff 's Principality Stadium, the home of Welsh rugby.

A Welsh government report found the event had delivered a 10:1 return on its investment.

The event channelled £21.8m back into the Welsh economy, according to the government's impact study.

It was WWE's first major UK stadium event in 30 years, which the company says became the "most viewed and highest rated international premium live event" in its history.

Several WWE "superstars" call Scotland their home, including Drew McIntyre, Alba Fyre, Isla Dawn, Piper Niven, Nikki Cross, Joe Coffey, Mark Coffey, Wolfgang and Noam Dar.

A Welsh government spokesperson said the events were "not comparable".

"Clash in the Castle Cardiff hosted 62,000 fans and this event announced for the in the OVO Hydro in Glasgow will host around 12,000," they added.

"The 2022 event in Cardiff was a huge success and we would remain open to discussions about a WWE event of that scale returning to Wales in the future."

A separate event - WWE Live - is due to take place at Cardiff's Utility Arena later this month as part of a UK tour.

WWE Clash At The Castle 2024 Will Take Place In Glasgow, Scotland

By Hamish Woodward

WWE is bringing a PLE to Scotland for the very first time with Clash at the Castle.

The company announced today that Clash at the Castle will return. The event is set to take place at the OVO Hydro in Glasgow, Scotland on June 15th, 2024.

The event is WWE’s third show announced for Europe this year. Backlash is taking place in Paris, France, while Germany will host Bash In Berlin later this year. It will be a chance for WWE to focus some of its Scottish talent, with Drew McIntyre , Piper Niven and Nikki likely to appear.

It follows the success of 2022’s Clash at the Castle event in Cardiff, Wales. The event was WWE’s first stadium show in the UK in 30 years, drawing over 60,000 fans to the Welsh capital.

While Drew McIntyre was unsuccessful in Cardiff, fans will hope that he can walk out a winner in Scotland this year.

WWE Announced Clash At The Castle In Glasgow With A Press Release

In the official press release from WWE, they said:

“We are excited to bring both  Friday Night SmackDown  and  Clash At The Castle :  Scotland  to our amazing fans in Scotland at the OVO Hydro in Glasgow this June,” said WWE President Nick Khan. “The world will see that this is one of the UK’s best venues and Scottish crowds are some of the loudest, craziest and most passionate on the planet.”

“The announcement follows the record-setting  Clash At the Castle  which took place at Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales, in September 2022. At the time, the event became the most-viewed and highest-rated international Premium Live Event in company history.”

“Scotland is home to several WWE Superstars including Drew McIntyre, Alba Fyre, Isla Dawn, Piper Niven, Nikki Cross, Joe Coffey, Mark Coffey, Wolfgang and Noam Dar.”

You can register for the Clash at the Castle presale by visiting:  https://www.wwe.com/catc-2024-presale-registration .

The event is taking place at the OVO Hydro Arena in Glasgow, Scotland. This holds around 15,000 fans, and is much smaller than Cardiff’s Millenniu, Stadium. As such, it will have a much smaller crowd than the previous Clash at the Castle event. The crowd will be more like last year’s Money in the Bank in London.

Before Jey Uso was a main-event WWE celebrity, Joshua Fatu once had NFL dreams

Joshua Fatu has run a unique personal gamut in the past 20 years. He’s gone from being a college athlete chasing NFL dreams to being out of shape and questioning his next move. He’s gone from moving and installing office furniture in Florida to being a showman for large crowds all over the world.

Joshua Fatu has seen it all. So has Jey Uso. It’s on the same spectrum, just different parts of it.

Fatu is Jey Uso, the charismatic baby face in WWE who won fans over with a cinematic storyline of breaking away from the infamous group The Bloodline, run by his cousin Roman Reigns (real name Joe Anoa’i) and featuring his twin brother, Jimmy Uso (Jonathan Fatu), and his younger brother Solo Sikoa (Joseph Fatu). Jimmy and Jey Uso, once considered the staple for professional wrestling tag teams and the company’s longest-reigning tag champions ever at 622 days, now are preparing to fight each other during Night 1 of WrestleMania XL at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia.

This wasn’t always the plan. Fatu was a physical defender who wanted to be an NFL linebacker when he arrived at Division II West Alabama to play college football in 2003 after excelling at Escambia High School in Pensacola, Fla.

“That was our first love,” Fatu said. “Every little kid who’s gonna play football, you want to go to the league, right?”

He, his twin brother and Anoa’i once had plans of playing together at Georgia Tech, but the coaches decided against recruiting the Fatus because of their lack of size at the time, Jonathan said in a 2014 interview with the West Alabama Watchman .

Before Roman Reigns shined at WrestleMania, Joe Anoa'i wrecked at Georgia Tech

Jonathan, now billed in the WWE at 6 feet 3 and 251 pounds, played one season at West Alabama in 2003. Joshua, billed at 6 feet 2 and 242 pounds, was on the team from 2003 until 2005, returning to Florida to work after becoming a father at the age of 20 to his first son, Jaciyah.

“I tried to do the 9-to-5 and ended up getting big from just working and eating bad, even though I didn’t stop working out,” Fatu said. “Me and my brother were almost 280, 300 pounds. You just look up, and you know this ain’t it.”

That was roughly 20 years and 40 or so pounds ago. It also was before Fatu and his brother decided to try the family business.

With the urging of their uncle Ed Fatu (WWE wrestler Umaga, who died in 2009), the twins decided to give professional wrestling a try. They are the sons of Solofa Fatu, the WWE Hall of Famer best known as Rikishi. They also have a lot of familiar names in the family business, including their cousin, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, and another cousin, the late Rodney Anoa’i, better known as Yokozuna.

After a couple of opportunities on the independent circuit, the twins packed their bags and moved from Pensacola to Houston. They trained for months at the school established by WWE Hall of Famer Booker T , starting in 2008.

“We were there every single day for almost two years, just trying to try to soak it all in,” Fatu said. “And man, we ain’t looked back since.”

Fatu and his brother debuted in WWE in 2010. As years passed, they gained popularity with their pre-match Siva Tau Samoan war dance and, later, their face paint — a tribute to their uncle Ed, who wore paint as Umaga. From 2014 on, The Usos established themselves as one of the most successful tag teams in history.

Had it not been for family, Fatu admittedly might have stuck with football a little longer and chased that dream.

“You try to be Ray Lewis, Sean Taylor. We grew up in Florida, so it’s all we had down there,” Fatu said. “But it was real easy to transition into wrestling.”

The Usos had been a tag-team fixture for more than a decade before the COVID-19 pandemic forced shutdowns of public events, including WWE shows. Anoa’i, a leukemia survivor, took a break from WWE and returned in August 2020.

Fatu’s breakthrough as a singles competitor came during the start of the pandemic. He had two championship matches with Anoa’i in a storyline involving the “little cousin” who was challenging the “Tribal Chief” as the leader of the family.

Fatu wouldn’t win the title, but he showed the personality and emotion that made being a singles competitor a possibility, putting on entertaining television performances with no fans present.

“We were just figuring out a virtual audience to react to our shows that were being presented in front of no audience because everyone was in lockdown,” said Paul Heyman, a central figure in The Bloodline’s story.

Fatu said Heyman and Anoa’i were key in his development during that time. He wasn’t sure how he’d operate without his twin brother, but he knew he needed to elevate his game.

“When it was time for me to go out there, we were pumping out emotion. I was real big on trying to make this look as real as possible against my cousin, because I knew that was the route to go,” Fatu said. “I knew with Roman Reigns, we had to hit this on the head. And the damn train just hasn’t stopped yet.”

The family affair got bigger in 2022 when his younger brother Joseph (Solo Sikoa) joined The Bloodline story. Since May, though, Fatu primarily has been a singles wrestler. (He had a short reign as Undisputed Tag Team Champion with Cody Rhodes last year.) Though the rest of the family is featured on “SmackDown” on Friday nights, Fatu is a part of the “Raw” brand on Monday nights.

He’s even refreshed his look. The Bloodline wears red. He now wears blue. And his merchandise with his catchphrase “Yeet” — another way of expressing approval — is among the most popular in WWE .

The singles route is not something Fatu originally envisioned for himself. When discussing his career, he often says “we” because he’s always been with his twin brother. Fatu believes they’ll eventually work as a tag team again.

The twins in January faced off at the Royal Rumble, WWE’s 30-man battle royal, as the first two entrants — and it was a secret they kept from their father. Saturday’s one-on-one match will feel slightly different.

“I feel naked walking out there alone most of the time because I was so used to having (Jonathan) with me through everything,” Fatu said. “But I had to grow and learn how to get through it, and I did. I feel like I’ve leveled up. I feel like Jimmy’s leveled up in his own way as a singles star.”

Fatu said Saturday’s match will be one that’s played out since they were children wrestling in the pool, in the house or somewhere outside. The Usos were in the main event of Night 1 of WrestleMania 39, but Saturday will be the biggest match for both of their careers.

He’s proud of the impact his family will have at WrestleMania. His cousins, Reigns and The Rock, will wrestle in Saturday’s main event. Reigns also will wrestle in Sunday’s main event. His younger brother, Sikoa, will be involved both nights. Also, his sister-in-law, Trinity Fatu, (WWE’s Naomi) is a part of a six-woman tag-team match.

Fatu is living the dream. He didn’t need the NFL.

“We’re the royal family; we’re the first family in wrestling,” he said. “We’ve always been relevant. We’ve always had somebody with a foot in the game.”
