Family Fun on the False Creek Ferries
Why not come down for a boat ride on the little blue ferries? You may not be able to go on an island getaway down in the tropics, but an “island cruise” from Granville Island could be the next best thing! Our boats offer a unique ride, with beautiful views of the city skyline. Our operators can provide interesting anecdotes about the geography and history of False Creek.
No reservation? No problem! All of our cruises sail from our dock on Granville Island every 15 minutes, every day, 9 am – 7 pm. Just come on down to our dock and we’ll get you set up on the next available departure. Tickets purchased online are able to be redeemed up to three months later.
Custom Charters & Cruises
Make your special event even more memorable with a custom charter or cruise aboard a False Creek Ferry. From weddings and photo shoots, to family events, False Creek Ferries has the perfect combination of vessels and services to meet your needs.

ARE ZODIAC ADVENTURES SAFE?
Yes, all of our captains and boats are certified by Transport Canada. Zodiacs move fast but are very stable, especially in the usually calm waters of Vancouver’s Inner Harbor and Burrard Inlet.
WILL WE SEE WHALES ON SEA VANCOUVER?
No, this is a city sightseeing adventure and it DOES NOT include whale watching. Vancouver, however, is home to a variety of birds and sea mammals and we may occasionally see dolphins, harbor seals, bald eagles, and other sea birds during adventures.
DO I NEED TO MAKE A RESERVATION?
Reservations are definitely recommended. Adventures often sell out and we don’t want you to be disappointed.
DO TOURS RUN IN ALL TYPES OF WEATHER?
Tours operate rain or shine! Safety is our priority and, in extreme weather conditions or high winds, adventures may be cancelled at the discretion of our qualified crew. We will be in touch should this be the case.

“We were blown away. Not only did we see 4 humpback whales, 1 orca, a bald eagle and a ton of seals, we learned a lot about the marine ecosystem around Vancouver and the animals that call this place home. We’d highly recommend and will definitely be coming back.”
Jkiefn1 - Trip Advisor
“So glad we chose this team to experience the whale watch. […] If you have a desire to whale watch, there is no better group to give you the experience to remember!”
Reuvy - Trip Advisor
“We had near-perfect weather conditions on our journey out to through the Georgia Strait, and once we were approaching a calm Bay Area, […] our excellent guide told us our captain […] was charting the route of five Orcas. The next hour we experienced some of the most incredible moments of our lives as we watched the Orcas breach the water time and time again.”
Hammy Scotlan - Trip Advisor
“[Our guide and captain] were wonderful and made sure everyone was comfortable, safe, and they also spoke about the importance of conservation and respecting wildlife, which I loved. Tourism and people, in general, can be very harmful to local wildlife so I was very happy that Wild Whales Vancouver is doing their best to make a positive impact.”
Justice_1992 - Trip Advisor
“Best (Whale Watching) Company in Vancouver (and the whole world), for sure!! […] I have never written a review in my entire life before, but the performance of you guys and the love for what you are doing really motivated me to do so.”
OrWh201819 - Trip Advisor
I loved it! We saw two different pods of Orcas and got to see them successfully hunting. It was AMAZING!
Millicent S. - Yelp
We did the open air tour with Pascal and Aaron yesterday and all I can say is, Wow!! They did an amazing job educating us and finding every opportunity to let us see the whales and other wildlife in action. A truly unforgettable experience!! And cherry on top, a portion of your ticket goes to ocean conservation research. If you are visiting Vancouver or a local, this is a must do!!
Jeniece M. - Yelp
Such an amazing experience! If you are hesitating, JUST DO IT! To see these beautiful creatures in their natural habitat, with exceptionally brilliant and passionate guides, is an experience you won’t ever forget or regret!
Sarah N. - Yelp
MUST SEE! Such a great experience. If you have never done this before you should go! We were so lucky to watch 2 humpbacks for close to an hour. It was amazing. Saw a couple more along the way. Also seals and a bald eagle. The boat ride alone would have been worth the cost!
Angela L. - Trip Advisor
Got Orcas? My 20 year old son and I took a trip to Vancouver and decided that whale-watching had to be on our to-do list and this did not disappoint. Felicity, our guide and Aaron, our captain did a great job of navigating our trip to see 3 orcas that we followed for about an hour; such a spectacular thing to see out in the wild. We also saw seals sunning themselves on the rocks. I would definitely recommend this trip and this company.
Eileen K. - Trip Advisor

What Our Guests Are Saying
I did the SUP tour and it was so good! I didn’t have any SUP experience, but the guide gave us a clear walk through for how to get on, stand up, and paddle. Everyone on the tour got comfortable pretty quickly and we all stood up at various times.
The Stand Up Paddleboard tour was an excellent intro to paddleboarding and tour of the Granville Island area. Even as a local I came out of the tour learning more about our city. It was a busy day out on the water and as a first timer it felt a bit intimidating, but thanks to our amazing guides Eimear and Leah we were in safe hands. After this I would feel confident paddling alone next time in False Creek!
My husband and I wanted to learn to paddleboard, but we can’t swim. I also had a fear of water, so I decided to learn from the experts. Sinéad patiently waited for us to stand up properly and move forward. She was kind and humorous throughout the lecture. We are very grateful to her.

Frequently asked questions
What if it is raining.
We run tours rain or shine, unless the conditions are dangerous. Vancouver is known for its sunny skies from June through September, and you can grab a complimentary all-weather suit any time of year.
Will it be wavy or rough on the water?
The Granite Falls Boat Tour offers the smoothest ride of all our tours. Our Zodiacs are extremely safe and stable vessels and most of the tour takes place in protected harbours and waterways.
Will I get wet?
It’s very unlikely that you will get wet, but being out on the water, there is always the chance! We have small lockers for rent at our office for personal valuables or you can bring a backpack and store it under your seat on the Zodiac.
What should I wear?
You are welcome to wear whatever you feel comfortable in! We recommend dressing in layers, avoiding cotton/denim if possible, and wearing clothing that lets you move freely. Workout clothes are usually a great option!
What is the difference between the Kayak options?
Our kayaks come in two basic styles: Sit-on-top kayaks and Sit-inside kayaks. (both are available as singles or doubles) Sit-on-tops are a great choice for new or nervous paddlers as they're stable, easy to get in and out of and there is no feeling of confinement.
Do the Sit-On-Top and the Sit-Inside kayaks cost the same?
Yes, depending on availability, you’re welcome to choose the style of kayak you prefer for your tour.
Is there parking available?
Paid parking is available throughout Granville Island near our office. There’s lots of space but on the weekends it can fill up, so plan to arrive a little early. Want to skip the hassle? You can easily catch a 10-15 min Uber or taxi from any hotel downtown!
Here are our suggestions for paid parking on Granville Island:
Old Bridge Indoor Parkade
Anderson Street Parking Lot
Granville Island Parking Lot
When do I need to arrive for my Lesson?
Please arrive 30 minutes prior to your departure.
Are there shower facilities available?
We don’t have showers, though we do have change rooms available for our guests
Are bathrooms available?
There are no bathrooms on the boat! That being said, there is a bathroom available at our office you can use before and after the tour.
Do I need to wear a life jacket?
YES! We have comfortable, slim-design inflatable life jackets for all of our guests to wear.
What if I need to change my booking?
You can cancel up to 48 hours in advance for a FULL refund. There is a 50% cancellation fee on all late cancellation notices. If you need to change or modify your booking, simply call us at (604) 736-5155
Where can I store my things?
We have cubbies in our office as well as small paid lockers for valuables such as wallets, passports and phones.
How old do I have to be to sign a waiver?
You must be 19 years of age or older to sign your waiver. Anyone under 19 years of age must have a parent or legal guardian sign the waiver for them.
What is your cancellation policy?
If you acquired the Trip Protection for your booking during checkout, you can cancel up to 1 hour before departure time for a full refund. Otherwise, the following policy applies: i ) 100% refund for bookings cancelled more than 7 days before your booking time. ii) 50% refund for bookings cancelled between 3 and 7 days before your booking time. iii) Bookings cancelled less than 3 days before your booking time have no refund.
What if I need to cancel for a large group?
For groups larger than 6 we require 7 days notice for a full cancellation without Trip Protection
Should I tip my tour guide?
If you feel your tour captain has provided a great experience, gratuities are encouraged— and welcomed—at the end of your tour. We believe that recognizing excellent service is a personal matter, though 15-20% of your ticket price is a good rule of thumb.
Do I have to purchase tickets in advance?
Advanced purchase is strongly recommended, as tours often sell out. To maximize your chances of getting the day and time you prefer, please book well in advance.
What if I still have questions?
We’re here to help! Simply call us at (604) 736-5155 if you have any additional questions or concerns.
