Informative and Impactful Tour

Our family of four enjoyed our tour of Compassion. Jennifer did an amazing job of providing information in a way that captured the hearts and minds of all of us (2 adults, one teen, and one 8-year old). We have been sponsors for several years, but we gained even more insight into the organization and the children blessed by its mission. We walked away from the tour so grateful to have spent an hour taking a tour and feeling so honored to financially support an efficient, effective, and truly child-centered organization! Thank you for providing this free opportunity!

This was an interesting event. Global Ministry is a charity that helps kids in under-served third world countries. The point is for you to hear a child's story, told from his view, in the hopes that you will agree to be a monthly sponsor. Admittedly, this is nicely done. when you enter, you are given a set of headphones along with a recorder, as this is a self-guided tour. you will go through about 5 rooms. Each room is very small and generally only one or two families go at a time. The rooms are probably about 6' x 8', although I am not a good judge at size. Each room is set up as the child and his/her family actually live in it. For instance, there might be only one bed for a family of 15. There might be only one place of food for a family of 8. One single mom made bootleg liquor out of poisonous chemicals just to try to feed her family. Truly, it is very sad. The flip side of this is that your own kids can see how blessed they are with what they have! It definitely brings an awareness and is an eye-opener. I would recommend it to anyone, at just about any age.

With the headquarters right in our own state, we had to take the tour. Being sponsors of two kids for about 6 years, we already knew how Compassion works. It was interesting to hear about the history of how it got started and to see the mail room.

We have been looking forward to touring Compassion since we began sponsoring children 2 years ago. The people working at Compassion were wonderful, my kids 10 years and 5 years, were treated like they were the most important people in our tour group. They had them help during the tour and employees who were not on the tour talked with them for 10 minutes before the tour began. They truly believe in their mission of giving children dignity and purpose. The tour was great, I have read a lot of the stories on Compassion's website and have read them to the kids but they had classrooms and houses set up so you could see how the kids live and what a Compassion center is like in the countries they work. Our kids had a great time. My dad went with us. Prior to the visit he was skeptical my money was being used as the ministry said, but after the tour he couldn't comment enough on how impressed e was. Hope to go on a sponsor trip with Compassion one day.

It was great to finally tour the place behind our time of sharing with children world wide - It is neat to be able to write to each one and find out who they are and encourage them in their life... I cannot say enough about this incredible ministry and the great tour they offer as they help one to understand how they do what they do!
