Active Cruise Control (541) activating stop and go

dekota28

  • Add to quote

For those who have 541 ACC, I've been able to code full Stop n Go cruise control. You'll be able to have your car completely stop and start again without using the gas and brake. Perfect for when you're in traffic. F56 series is the only series that uses solely the KAFAS camera to do ACC while the rest of the BMWs use an additional radar system in front. I've verified this today and it does work. I also have an extra Retrofit set for active cruise control (541) for anyone who's coming from regular cruise control (cruise control with automatic braking, option 544). I retrofitted 541 for my car came with 544 also. Please PM me for coding details if you have 541 already for stop and go function

Hi, i have a clubman with kafas and adaptive cruiseconfrol. I sent you a pm

Hi i have Cruise control 544 and was wondering if you could PM me what is required to retrofit 541 onto my cooper? thanks

Pm me. Need e-sys and enet cable

liamog

I've ordered a Mini Cooper SE, they only have the option of 544 Cruise Control. Is it likely to be able to apply the changes to 541 and Stop&Go?

I have not tried it again, the main reason is SAFETY. It is disabled for a reason! On bmw’s next to the camera the car has a sonar/radar in the front grill to detect objects. I think it is fundamental for the stop&go to work properly. Think of heavy rain, where the visibility of the camera is compromised, it can make mistakes for sure... even if you enable it, i suggest you keep a good eye on the car in front of you and your feed on the break all the time.

It's a paid option on the F56 in Ireland, which uses the same camera hardware without a radar sensor. I'm more focussed on the Adaptive part, than the stop and go. It's disabled for economic reasons, but is unfortunately not an option on the Copper SE.

Itjamie

@liamog same situation. Looking at the electric cooper s and would like to enable adaptive cruise in ireland, seems to have all the sensors did you get it enabled?

The countryman which has the same camera based system does have acc with stop and go from factory (if you order with acc). So it has nothing to do with safety if you ask me.

EDIT: i should have read your msg better, it is just what you wrote haha [emoji3] There is also a “mod” which enables the car to drive itself, so steer itself on lower speeds, it requires an electrical mon in the steering wheel. I read it somewhere, cant seem to find the topic anymore. Like in traffic jams the car drives, steers all byitself. Someone tried the mod on his mini f54 and it worked. Only there was no “logo” icon showing that the function was on. Maybe it is present on the new virtual kombi...

Hi sorry I have an F60 with kafas and 544 cruise control. I don't have sas module. Can I code the acc with stop and go function?

Hello, i have a 2015 f56 with camera based acc, I´m not sure if its 544 or 541, and if its possible to code this option. Thank you. Pd: I´m new here and PM´s don´t seem to work for me.

I was searching around the internet about retrofitting the ACC to an F56 mini which has S544 as delivers option. I finally found your discussion in the MiniF56.com community about it. Do I get it correct: The ACC can be coded, if S544 is already installed? I assume, that at least a different steering wheel is needed to have the control buttons, right? Or is any other hardware needed to make this work? Background of my question: After 8 month of wait, our electric mini was delivered but the ordered ACC wasn't installed! I would like to know, if the dealer can retrofit it as I've not finally decided to take the car or not.

Can anyone help to code 541 option or not ? i have kafas2 , sas , 5as option

yes pm me

Tnanks Dekota28 and Maaii for help , everything works perfektly !

The main circuitry for the 2 extra distance buttons are there but the circuitry to activate that section of the circuitry aka the pins to the board where it would begin. Aren't there. They probably include the circuitry for manufacturing purposes. It's much cheaper by not interrupting their work flow process to change jigs mid board for those made without acc.

interesting find, pity it doesn't work!

I'm looking to purchase a 2015 J56 JCW with ACC, and was wondering if you think enabling the Stop & Go feature on this would work? I tried to PM you, but I'm not yet able to as I'm new to the forum. Thanks in advance for anyones help! Would also appreciate a pm from @dekota28 when you have time, would love to talk to you about the 'traffic jam assist' steering + that arduino setup you posted a picture of a while ago.

Hi @dekota28 , I would like to thank you for your help on the forum, I would like to code my F56 mini with 541 ACC to enable stop and go. Could you help me ? Or anyone else who has already done it ? Thank you very much

ArlingtonMini2DrS

Hello, I came across this discussion and I hope someone can help me. A couple weeks ago, I received the 2022 Mini Cooper S Iconic that I ordered from the factory. It is supposed to have every option. It arrived as ordered with the exception of "dynamic" cruise control. It does have "active" cruise control however. (I believe that's option 544 ACC) It has everything else, shaker steering wheel warning for lane departure, speed limit sign recognition, auto parallel parking, and ACC. (it applies brakes going down hill) Because of supply chain problems and chip shortages, I am assuming the 541 cruise control was turned off because they didn't have the right steering wheel. It's the only logical conclusion I can come up with. (The 2 buttons next to the cruise control are missing.) The salesperson said I may not get all the options because of current supply and chip issues. (I am glad I got everything else I wanted) Per the discussion I've read on this MINIF56 message board, I believe the 541 ACC option with stop and go can be turned on via programming and a default distance can be programmed in and the buttons won't be needed. (Although above, I see maybe I can find that steering wheel piece with the extra buttons?) Please let me know if you think this is correct and, if so, please let me know how to do this. Thank you!

Hey! I have just read your message about 541.. you seem to have big knowledge on these upgrades! Could you send me the instructions on how to to this? I do have 544 on my FA, and ready to upgrade my steering wheel with the 2 extra buttons. I am going to upgrade a wheel with paddles shifters anyway, so I guess I should buy one with the 2x extra buttons for ACC? I have esys and I already retrofitted driving modes 4VA and it does work. My mini is F56 from 2014 and I am in France.

Any news about acc? I've kafas steering wheel with 2 botton etc....i don't have sas unit it's possibile to have this function without sas?

Without sas , not possible.

R56 Cruise Control not working

  • Add to quote

Hi Guys, I've got a warning light on, letting me know that the rear brakes need attention. I've got it booked in to get the brakes fixed, but since the light came on the Cruise Control isn't working. The light comes on when I select it, but it won't hold the speed. Does anyone know if the two are connected? Regards, Paul

might want to get brake light switch checked out and clutch pedal switch both have a bearing on cruise control, also if abs sensors have issues can also throw up a fault code that the ecu will not allow cruise to be set as a safety level, like pretty much all faults on modern cars having a good diagnostics tool is a must. with this you can enter the different ecu's and find what is not working correctly,, anyother way involves a multi-meter and voltages and signals etc,, but modern cars runs can bus systems that share wires and sends pulses etc,, so impossible to diagnose with out a interface to view it,, below link is very good, sell them on ebay . BMW Diagnostic Software and Cable allows full Coding and Diagnostics for your car or this works well i have both. https://www.autocom.se/en/cdp-plus

  4. Cruise Control and the Limit Button

The steering wheel is a bit different on the F60, specifically the left side buttons. My F56 had a Cruise Control button, which turned on CC or turn it off. It also had a Set button, which you could use to set the speed of CC. The F60 doesn't have a Set button. It does however have a completely useless LIM button, which is a Speed Limit function.
