Restaurants on the Disney Dream: Complete Guide to Onboard Dining

Jill Robbins

One of the best things about going on a cruise is the food. If you’re planning a Disney Cruise , enjoy this deep dive on the restaurants on the Disney Dream . No matter what your dining style, you’ll be able to find food and dining you love.

Here’s everything you need to know about where – and what – to eat on the Disney Dream.

Disney Cruise Ship Rotational Dining

Rotational dining is unique to Disney Cruise  Line. You’ll be assigned a different dining room each night of your cruise, which is included in the price of your cruise. The Disney Cruise Line Navigator App will tell you where you eat each night.

The cool thing about rotational dining is that your servers go with you. That’s right; you won’t have different serves in each dining room. Your servers will follow you from location to location, and they will make every effort to get to know you and your family throughout the cruise. The Disney Dream has three main dining rooms, Enchanted Garden (Deck 2 midship), Royal Palace (Deck 3 midship, and Animator’s Palate (Deck 3 aft.)

Each menu includes bread service. The bread comes with butter and some type of dip or sauce. You’ll also find at least one plant-based option and a “lighter notes” menu, including a salad, a plain steak, plain salmon, and a plain chicken breast. Each venue has unique desserts, a signature dessert, and a sugar-free dessert option.

Table-Service Restaurants

Enchanted garden.

The gardens at Versailles inspire the Enchanted Garden’s decor. The appetizer menu choices included a cucumber garden roll, an ahi tuna and avocado tower, an applewood smoked bacon and mushroom tart, and lobster ravioli.

The soup and salad menu included asparagus soup, tomato soup, spinach and raspberry salad, and a romaine wedge. Entrees included sea scallops, sea bass, roast chicken, seared pork medallions, and prime rib.

The dessert list included:

  • A sticky date pudding.
  • A chocolate torte.
  • A gluten-free orange almond cake.
  • A brownie sundae.
  • A pecan pie tart.

The food was good and plentiful, and the atmosphere felt pretty and soothing, like eating in a…well, in an enchanted garden. That said, this was my least favorite restaurant on the Dream .

Royal Palace

The theme of the Royal Palace is Disney princesses. There is princess artwork around the dining room’s perimeter that’s fun to walk around and look at if the dining room isn’t too crowded. Appetizers include duck confit, iced lobster, jumbo shrimp, fried brie, and escargot.

Soup and salad offerings include a potato and leek soup, French onion soup, a Bosc pear salad, and a farmer’s salad with goat cheese.

The main dishes are pasta with lobster and tomato, oven-baked salmon, roasted duck, rack of lamb, and chateaubriand.

 The featured desserts are:

  • A Grand Marnier souffle.
  • Apple tartine.
  • Strawberry shortcake sundae.
  • Creme brulee.
  • A chocolate sponge cake soaked in coffee syrup with chocolate ganache.

I love the princess-like setting, which is just the perfect amount of theming and not too “in your face” Disney. The menu is rich, luxurious, and perfect entry-level French cuisine that will make both more sophisticated palates and picky eaters happy.

Animator’s Palate

I’ll preface this by saying I adore Animator’s Palate, my favorite restaurant across the fleet. I’m bummed that the  Disney Wish  doesn’t have it. Animator’s Palate is your favorite Disney animation coming to life before your eyes. The entertainment is truly spectacular. The  Dream has Undersea Magic, where you can have a real-time conversation with Crush from Finding Nemo as he swims around the dining room, popping up in various picture frames.

Magical Entertainment

Animation Magic is truly one of my favorite parts of Animator’s Palate and Disney Cruising in general. If you’re lucky enough to eat at Animator’s Palate when Animation Magic is happening, you’ll be given a placemat to draw on when you first sit down to your meal. The servers will collect your placemats, and your drawings will become a special, magical part of the entertainment.

Delicious Food

The food at Animator’s Palate is also my favorite of the three main dining rooms. Appetizers include smoked salmon tartare, sliced serrano ham, black truffle pasta, and a tomato tart. The choices for soups and salads are butternut squash soup, baked potato cheddar soup, an arugula salad, and a chicken salad.

Mains are pasta bolognese, tuna steak, thyme-seasoned chicken breast, herb-crusted pork, and ginger-dusted beef tenderloin with wasabi mashed potatoes that are a fantastic explosion of flavors – and I’m not a huge red meat eater.

Desserts at the Animator’s Palate include:

  • A lemon icebox pie.
  • Cookies and cream sundae.
  • Crunchy walnut cake.
  • Cheesecake with a layer of chocolate fudge.

Which is Better – Early or Late Dining?

Guests will choose between early or late dining when booking their Disney Dream  cruise. Early seating is at 5:45 p.m., and second seating is at 8:00 p.m. This may vary by cruise, and when the  Disney Dream  is in European ports, the dining times may be pushed later. Once you choose, you’re locked in, and there is no flipping back and forth between early or late seatings.

I always opt for late dining and did so even when my kids were little – they’re teenagers now. I find the second dining less crowded and more relaxed. The servers have to turn the dining rooms between the first and second dining sessions so the atmosphere isn’t as inviting for guests who want to linger over their dessert. If you can handle eating a little later, I think you have a better dining experience if you choose second seating.

Other Included Dining Options on the Disney Dream

There are many other places to eat included in the cost of your cruise.

Cabanas is the Disney Dream’s  buffet eatery. Serving a wide variety of items for both breakfast and lunch, Cabanas offers indoor and outdoor seating.

Room Service

Most room service items on the Disney Dream  are included in the cost of your cruise. A variety of soups, salads, pizza, sandwiches, and desserts can be delivered to your room 24 hours a day. Really .

Certain items on the room service menu are not free, so make sure you’re paying attention when you order. Alcohol, canned soda, and snacks such as candy and popcorn aren’t included.

Flo’s Cafe

If you want to eat on the deck or grab some quick service sustenance while you’re enjoying the ocean views, this outdoor eatery is home to three food stations—Luigi’s Pizza, Tow Mater’s Grill, and Fillmore’s Favorites, all inspired by Disney· Pixar’s Cars . Chicken, pizza, salads, and sandwiches are served so everyone can find something they enjoy.

Eye Scream Treats

Unlimited soft-serve ice cream is a Disney Cruise Line favorite.

Frozone Treats

The smoothies at Frozone Treats are not included in the cost of your cruise.

Vanellope’s Sweets & Treats

Vanelleope’s Sweets and Treats serves hand-dipped gelato, a variety of sundaes, ice cream treats, candy, and other delights to tempt a sweet tooth. Not included in the cost of your cruise.

Preludes is the concession stand near the theater that serves popcorn that you can smell a mile away, candy and other snacks, sodas, and alcohol. You can also order from a server in the theater before the show starts.

The Cove Cafe serves specialty coffee and tea, with and without alcohol. Aside from the self-service coffee machine in the Concierge Lounge, the Cove Cafe is the only place to get decent coffee on the ship, and if you like your morning java, make sure you’re budgeting for it.

While the drinks at the Cove Cafe aren’t included in the cost of your cruise, the snacks are.

There are usually a variety of pastries in a display case that are free to adult guests (the Cove Cafe is located in the adult-only area of the ship. If you visit between 5:00-7:00 p.m., you might get lucky and find antipasto.

Senses Juice Bar

This juice bar is located near the Senses Spa and Salon and serves nutritious beverages made with fresh fruits and vegetables. Not included in the cost of your cruise.

Adult-Exclusive Fine Dining on the Disney Dream

The  Dream  has two adult-only fine dining venues, Palo and Remy. If you’re looking for a sans kids dinner or brunch date, a coveted reservation at one of these spots is the way to go.

Palo serves dinner and brunch on sea days. Dinner is $45 per person, and brunch is $40 per person. The prices are always subject to change. I’m a big fan of Palo Brunch. Although the buffet portion of Palo Brunch is no more, the current menu is more than ample, and you’re brought an antipasto tray early on in the meal with most of the things the old buffet used to have.

The brunch menu includes tasty delights such as soups, waffles and pancakes, benedicts and omelets, and Italian-inspired dishes such as calzones, pizza, pasta, and chicken parmesan. The current dessert menu includes a light vanilla berry panna cotta, a limoncello torte, and traditional tiramisu. While I can’t find fault with any of the desserts, the brunch menu is so excellent and robust that I didn’t have much room. I didn’t think any of the desserts were worth saving room for and I recommend you go for it and sample as much of the brunch menu as you can hold.

They’ll keep bringing you food as long as you can handle it.

For dinner, Palo has an extensive selection of steaks and seafood that are a little more thoughtfully prepared than what you’ll find on the main dining room menus. If you’re a foodie or really crave a good steak or premium seafood, book your dinner at Palo. If it comes down to the choice between Palo dinner and Palo brunch on the Dream, the brunch is an easy winner.

French cuisine with Ratatouille -inspired decorative touches paired with ocean views? Can you say Ooh La La? Remy serves dinner, brunch, and a dessert-only experience. I think it’s approachable for fine dining, but it is fine dining and it may make someone new to truly upscale food experiences uneasy, although I think onboard a Disney cruise is a great way to dip your toes in and try something new.

The servers will do a great job explaining the dinner menu to you, but if you’re a picky eater or have dietary restrictions, you might find Remy less than accommodating. If you’re more of a chicken tenders person than a foie gras with cauliflower foam person, $125 per person for dinner might be something you want to rethink, but if you’re an adventurous eater, Remy is a truly delicious gastronomic journey. Allow about three hours, and plan to take a walk on deck after. You will need it!

The famous Remy cheese cart

If you love a good cheese course, Remy won’t disappoint. The cheese cart has several varieties of cheeses plus accompaniments like honeycomb and apricots. The server will expertly plate your cheese and recommend the order to enjoy them.

I love cheese, but I don’t enjoy the taste of Brie or most soft, pungent cheeses, and there wasn’t a lot on the cheese cart that I liked. I enjoyed the presentation and the opportunity to taste something new. My husband more than made up for the share of cheese I did not eat.

Remy Add On’s

If you really want to splurge, you can get the sommelier-curated wine pairings for $230 per person, which adds up to an extremely expensive dinner for two. We did it, and I thought it was worth the splurge, but it definitely pinched our pocketbooks. The wines were outstanding, and our sommelier was very thoughtful and kind, but my husband and I know a bit about wines. Someone newer to fine wine tasting might feel out of their depth.

It’s an additional $30 to add champagne pairings to brunch and $25 to pair wines with a Remy dessert experience.

Palo and Remy Dress Code

Formal or semi-formal attire is recommended. Dress casual attire with a polished look is permitted (such as dress pants, jeans in good condition, collared shirts and blouses, and lifestyle shoes). Clothing such as T-shirts, swimwear, and sports attire is not permitted.

Bars on the Disney Dream

The district.

The  Dream  has an adults-only, late-night area – and late-night is relative on board the  Disney Dream . Things shutter pretty early. The District has five bars where adults can have a drink before or after dinner or participate in adults-only games, dancing, or quiz shows.

The Skyline Bar features a digital window that displays rotating cityscapes. Pink is a bubble-themed champagne bar, although they serve other cocktails and spirits.

Evolution is a nightclub-inspired space with a dance floor and a stage – check the Navigator App to see what’s happening. If you’re looking for a cozy pub, check out 687, named for the shipyard number assigned to the Disney Dream  while she was under construction.

The District Lounge is a stylish space at the The District’s entrance, where you’ll find a full bar and live piano music. The District is open to guests of all ages before 7:00 p.m.

Other On Board Bars

The sophisticated Meridian Lounge, located between Remy and Palo, offers gorgeous ocean views off the back of the ship. Palo and Remy’s dress codes may apply in this space.

The “blink and you’ll miss it” Vista Lounge on Deck is a fun, tucked-away spot to have your morning coffee or a pre-dinner cocktail.

Looking for a family-friendly place to hang out and enjoy games that everyone can play? Check out the D Lounge on Deck Four for family quiz shows, karaoke, and more.

You won’t go hungry on the Disney Dream

Whether your style is a grab-and-go burger on deck between rides on the AquaDuck water slide or multiple courses in one of the ship’s three main dining rooms, the Disney Dream has your appetite covered.

Disney Dream Ship Facts

The Disney Dream  is 1,114.7 feet long and 137 feet wide. The ship has 1,250 staterooms and can accommodate a maximum of 4,000 passengers and a crew of 1,458. The ship’s atrium features Art Deco styling and a statue of Admiral Donald. All Disney ships have unique stern art, and the Disney Dream’s  stern art features Sorcerer Mickey directing his magical broomsticks to finish painting the ship’s emblem.

The Dream  is one of two Dream Class ships – the other is the  Disney Fantasy  – which are about 40 percent larger than the two classic Disney ships, the Disney   Magic  and the  Disney Wonder . I’ve been on the Disney Dream  twice and love it.

What Is Disney Cruise Rotational Dining?

disney cruise menu

You may have heard people talk about rotational dining.

What exactly is this?

It is a unique concept for Disney cruise lines that will make your Disney Dream cruise restaurants experience very special.

On each cruise, you will visit each of the three rotational dining restaurants at least once.

The Disney Cruise Food and Dining Experience is exceptional.

When you check in on the day of your cruise your dining rotation will show on your Navigator’s App.

. A is for Animator’s Palate, RP is Royal Palace and E is Enchanted Garden.

THis information used to be on your Key to the World Card but now is just on the App.

disneydreamfood

So if your first letter is A you will know that Animator’s Palate is your first Disney Dream restaurant on your first sailing night.

When you go to your allocated Disney Dream restaurant on your first night you will meet your dining team. They will be your Server, Assistant Server, and Head Server.

These people will be your serving team for the duration of your cruise.

They will move around the rotational dining Disney Dream restaurants with you.

So if you start in Animator’s Palate one night and then the next you are dining in Royal Palace your dining team will be waiting for you.

I think that the rotational dining system is one of the best things about Disney Cruise lines.

The Disney cruise servers are usually exceptional.

They get to know your likes and dislikes and will do their very best to make sure you have a great experience.

disneycruiseanimatorspalate

The Disney Servers are particularly great with kids.

They are not many places where a server will cut up your child’s food for them or make sure that they have a Mickey Mouse Ears-shaped design of ketchup.

Often they know puzzles and have time to spend with the kids at the end of the meal.

It is good to know that you will be seeing familiar faces at dinner each night of your cruise.

Usually, you will like your servers so much that you will make sure that you request them on your next cruise.

It is just another way that you are made to feel that going on Disney cruises is returning to a familiar place with friendly familiar crew members.

This really is part of the Disney difference.

Disney Dream Dining Times

disneydreamdiningtimes

What are the Disney Dream dining times?

There are two sittings for the Disney Dream Cruise Restaurants.

Early Dining is at 5.45 pm. Late Dining on the Disney Dream starts at 8.15 pm.

These dining times allow you to see the entertainment in the Walt Disney Theatre for the time you are not at dinner.

The most popular Disney Dream Cruise dining time is for the first seating at 5.45 pm.

This is largely because guests with young children want the earlier dining time.

8.15 pm is too late for most guests dining on the Dream with young children.

Early Dining times are always the ones that go first.

If you book late you may not be able to get your first choice if it is Early Dining.

disneydreamdresscode

If this happens you can ask to be put on the waiting list for an earlier time.

Sometimes this is resolved before you board the ship.

However, if it isn’t you need to go to see the dining team as soon as you board the ship to see if they can help

Disney always does everything it can to accommodate a guest’s request for their preferred seating. However, sometimes it simply doesn’t work out.

Late Dining does have the advantage that on disembarkation day you will have a later breakfast, therefore a bit more of a lie-in!

Disney Dream Dining Dress Code

disneydreamdresscode

What is the Disney Dream Dining Dress Code?

For the Disney Dream main dining restaurants, there really is one rule only.

That is  “no swimwear or tank tops”.

The dress code for Palo and Remy is different.

You can read about that in our Disney Cruise Dress Code Guide.

Disney Dream Animator’s Palate Restaurant

disneywonderanimatorspalate

You will find Animator’s Palate on all of the Disney cruise ships, with the exception of the Disney Wish.

Animator’s Palate is such an iconic Disney cruise feature you really need to experience it at least once.

The decor in Animator’s Palate is simply stunning.

Make sure that you take some time to walk around the restaurant at the end of your meal to explore the shelves and pictures on the wall.

disneydreamanimatorspalate

The first thing that you will notice is the screens on the wall.

Animator’s Palate has a very memorable dinner show involving Turtle Talk with Crush.

Yes, Crush really can hear what you are saying.

He may even swim over to your table to talk with you!

Animator’s Palate is often a big hit with kids because of its interactive features.

However, the adults also really appreciate all the attention to detail.

Even the plates are beautiful!

Ad if you really can’t resist that butter knife you can buy one from the store.

Disney Dream Enchanted Garden Restaurant

disneyenchantedgardenrestaurant

The Disney Dream Enchanted Garden Restaurant is perhaps the most elegant of all on the ship. It is located on Deck 2.

Enchanted Garden serves dinner every night as part of your Disney Dream restaurant rotation. It also serves a buffet breakfast and on sea days it is open for lunch.

The decor in Enchanted Garden is stunning.

The Enchanted Garden restaurant decor was inspired by the gardens in the Palace of Versailles in Paris.

disneydreamenchantedgarden

Take a little time as you approach Enchanted Garden to really look at your first impression.

As you walk through the door you will notice how beautifully “framed” the entrance is. It is like walking into a stunning European garden.

There is a long aisle with tables on either side. These used to be booths as shown in the pictures but more recently these have been removed and replaced with conventional seating.

At the end is a fountain which is the focal point of the restaurant. Of course, you will see Mickey on the top of the fountain.

Look up to the ceiling.

The lighting is beautiful.

During your meal, the sky will change from daylight to sunset.

During dessert, the scene will transform into the night sky on a starry evening.

Disney Dream Enchanted Garden Menu

The Enchanted Garden Menu on the Disney Dream is, as you would expect from the decor, French-themed. As with all Disney cruise restaurants, there is something for everyone.

The Royal Palace restaurant on the Disney Dream is themed to celebrate Disney Princesses and Princes.

The decor is wonderfully lavish, creating a luxurious feel to this Disney Dream restaurant.

Reds and gold are beautifully used throughout the restaurant to give it that regal feel.

There are lots of paintings of the Princesses lining the wall.

disneydreamroyalpalace

A fabulous touch is a breadbasket in the shape of Cinderella’s Coach. I wish they had that for sale in the store!

Disney Dream Restaurants Royal Palace Menu

Disney Dream Cabanas Buffet Restaurant

disneydreamcabanasbuffet

You will probably find yourself spending quite a bit of eating time in the Cabanas Buffet. Serving breakfast and lunch every day as well as an a la carte dinner menu, this is the place.

The Cabanas Buffet on the Disney Dream is very spacious.

Some cruise buffets are badly designed, but this isn’t one of them.

There is plenty of inside and outside seating.

There are two sides to the buffet which are identical to each other. At busy times, both sides will be open.

Each side is identical.

There are various different buffet stations in Cabanas.

They include salads, seafood, pizzas, pasta, a carvery, and many different offerings of hot food.

You are encouraged to not see this is a buffet where you have to stand in line. There is space behind the stations and in theory, you can “jump in” at any point.

In practice, you may not win the friendship of your fellow guests if you do this! Just be courteous and consider that others may be waiting.

Disney Dream Palo Restaurant

disneydreampalo

Palo is an adult-only restaurant that you will find on all of the Disney cruise ships.

On Disney Dream Palo is located on Deck 12 Aft.

You have a choice of Palo Brunch or Palo Dinner.

The Palo Brunch is served only on sea days, but dinner is served every day.

You can book prior to boarding your cruise by using your Cruise Personalizer.

However, you can only book one dinner and one brunch.

The only exception to this is if you book Palo Dinner on the first night you can also reserve an additional night on the cruise for dinner.

This is because it is more difficult to get guests to book on the first night as usually, they want to explore the rotational dining restaurants first.

I am often asked which is better. Palo Brunch or Palo Dinner?

If you want to learn more about Palo and decide between Brunch and Dinner here is my Palo Review

The decor is upscale but very welcoming.

The theme is of course Italy. The attention to detail is amazing.

Make sure you spend some time looking around the restaurant.

You can’t fail to notice the beautiful glasswork in the foyer. It really is stunning.

disneydreampalorestaurant

The best tables are those by the window as you get a fabulous view of the ocean.

Palo Brunch used to be a combination of a buffet and a la carte. However, the buffet feature has now been replaced with plated appetizers brought to your table and you can order as much as you want from the menu.

You can eat as much as you want, although it can be quite difficult to choose!

Your server will show you to your table and offer you a choice of a Mimosa or a glass of sparkling wine.

The menu has various breakfast and brunch hot entrees.

Palo Dinner is a very different atmosphere.

Try and get an early evening booking if you want to watch the sunset from your table.

It certainly sets the scene for a very romantic Palo dinner.

disneypalodinner

The menu is, of course, Italian-influenced.

Your server will bring antipasti to your table and you can choose what you want.

For me, this is one of the best parts of the Palo Dinner.

disneycruisepalosorbet

The quality of the food and service is exceptional.

Although the price has gone up in recent years I still think that for $45 for Palo Brunch and $50 for dinner it is still a good choice.

Wine is extra of course, but you do get a complimentary glass of sparkling wine with Brunch.

Palo on the Disney Dream is certainly something you should try.

It is just one of the fabulous things to do for adults on a Disney Cruise.

Disney Dream Remy Restaurant

disneycruiseremy

If you are looking for an exceptional dining experience on the Disney Dream you have to make a reservation for Remy.

This is one of the finest restaurants at sea.

For those of you who know Disney World, Remy is the culinary equivalent of Victoria and Albert’s.

Remy is located on Deck 12 Aft on the same deck as Palo.

They are separated by the Meridian Bar which is another hidden gem on the Disney Dream.

It is a small bar with a great outside space.

disneydreammeridianbar

Most guests only go there when they are dining at Remy or Palo but it is a great place for a quiet drink even if you aren’t dining at one of the adult restaurants.

Remy is, of course, the highly talented foodie rat chef from the Pixar movie Ratatouille.

The restaurant has many very subtle references to the lovable Remy and the Pixar movie.

The decor is very elegant and if you didn’t know to look for the references you may not even see them!

disneydreamremy

Remy is smaller than Palo and has a much more intimate atmosphere. This is a fine dining experience like nothing else at sea. The service is impeccable.

Somehow your server will know when you need them and when you want them to be out of sight. What’s not to like about a restaurant that has a stool for you to rest your purse on?

The menu is of course unapologetically French. Chef Scott Hunnel of Victoria and Albert’s and advising Chef Arnaud Lallement a 3 Michelin starred acclaimed owner of l’Assiette Champenoise restaurant in France, each create the menu.

disneydreamremyrestaurant

The Remy menu varies according to the season and what is available in the ship’s location.

You can be assured that you will experience something very special when you dine at Remy.

Remy restaurant on the Disney Dream offers four different dining experiences. Remy Champagne Brunch, Remy Dinner, Remy Dessert Experience, and Petites Assiettes de Remy.

Remy Champagne Brunch begins with you being invited to wait in the Meridian Bar until your dining experience is ready to start.

You will then be taken into the restaurant with your fellow diners.

The chef and the sommelier will explain some of the details of the food and the wine.

You will be served a glass of champagne and a small plate of amuse-bouche.

disneydreamremywine

Take a moment to look at some of the wines in the cabinets at the side of the room. Some of those bottles are priced higher than a family vehicle!

However, there is a more reasonable and accessible wine and champagne list.

The Brunch includes one glass of complimentary sparkling wine only.

If you want anything more you can choose a bottle or the very popular Champagne Paring option.

Your server will then show you to your table and discuss the food options with you.

If you have any special dietary requirements or preferences always discuss this with your server. They will go over and above to accommodate you.

There will follow a series of beautifully presented dishes for you to savor. Remy Brunch really is an exceptional experience on the Disney Dream.

Remy Champagne Brunch costs $75 per person.

If you want to add the Champagne Pairing it is an additional $30 per person.

Remy Dessert Experience is for those with a seriously sweet tooth. It is a 5-course dessert menu served with coffee. It is a unique experience where the emphasis is not just on enjoying the food, but on learning more about it. Remy’s Executive Chef and Pastry Chef explain the history and concepts behind each of the desserts offered.

disneyremybrunch

The Remy Dessert Experience on the Disney Dream is available for $60 per person. There is a $25 additional charge per person when adding the wine pairing.

Petites Assiettes de Remy is a different experience where you combine small plates with a 6-course wine tasting.

This is only offered on the first day of your sailing in the early evening. It is hosted by the Executive Chef and the Sommelier of Remy. Once again this is a tasting and an educational experience.

The charge for Petites Assiettes de Remy is $50 per person including the wine pairing.

These four Remy dining experiences are only available on cruises of 4 nights or longer. This means that you must be on a four-night sailing of the Disney Dream.

However, Remy Dinner is offered for each night of your cruise. This is an amazing dining experience. Though it is a splurge at $125 per person plus $105 if you want to add the wine pairing, dining at Remy really is something that you have to experience at least once in a lifetime!

disneydreamremydinner

You will be served the famous Collette cocktail which is named after one of the characters in Ratatouille. This is a delicious combination of Prosecco, Grey Goose, Grand Marnier, Cassis Pearls, and Dried Pineapple. It is a wonderful start to your Remy dining experience.

You then choose from one of the two menus.

You have a choice of the Saveur Menu which is the French menu or the Gout Menu which is American.

Remember that if you have any special dietary needs you can tell your server and then will make sure that you are taken care of.

disneyremy

I realize that Remy is a bit of a splurge, but it is worth every penny.

If you had this experience on land it would cost at least twice as much and you wouldn’t have that fabulous view out of the window!

Sunday 6th of October 2019

This is a wonderful explanation of menus. We will be on the Fantasy and I can hardly wait. The food sounds amazing. However, we will be traveling with our granddaughters aged 4 and 7. Nothing on the menus sounds like food for little children. They go often to good restaurants but their palates are not accustomed to these dishes. You suggested that on embarkation day we head straight for the Enchanted Garden. That looks right up my alley as I love gardens and gardening BUT our girls would be more thinking about tacos or hamburgers or mac and cheese with veggies and fruit. Are there children's menus in all of the family restaurants?

Tuesday 8th of October 2019

Thank you for your comment Wendy. Yes, there are children's menus for each restaurant. I have realized that I have not included this information in the article and I will correct this!

Rotational Main Dining

Rather than a static main dining room, Disney Cruise Line rotates guests between multiple dining options. The schedule is fixed and the wait staff rotates with the guests to build a familiarity. These restaurants are included in the cruise price.

Animator’s Palate

Animator’s Palate is an innovative restaurant where the show is drawings coming to life on screens all around you. Undersea Magic immerses diners in the world of  Finding Nemo .

Royal Palace

At breakfast and lunch, Royal palace offers another sit-down option. Dinnertime features French and continental cuisine in the opulence of the classic Disney fairytales Cinderella, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Sleeping Beauty and Beauty and the Beast.

Enchanted Garden

Enchanted Garden is open for breakfast, lunch, dinner. The cuisine is American for breakfast and lunch, but the restaurant becomes French-inspired at dinner. As guests enjoy their meal the restaurant changes as flowers bloom and the “sky” fades from day to night.

Specialty Dining

There are three specialty dining venues onboard the Disney Dream. These are extra-special experiences that cost extra.

Remy is adults only and adheres to a strict dress code. Jackets for men (or collared shirt for brunch) are required and no jeans, shorts, capri pants, sneakers, or open toed shoes.

The cuisine is fantastic French fare and reservations are required. The price is $125 for a prix fixe dinner and $105 extra for wine pairings. Brunch is $75 with a $30 extra charge for champagne pairings.

Fine Italian fare is served in the adults-only Palo. The price is $45 for a prix fixe dinner, $59 with a wine pairing.

Royal Court Royal Tea

Children ages 3-12 can partake in a special tea party with Disney characters. Children get gifts including a jewelry box, tiara, bracelet, necklace, a Cinderella doll, and autograph book. Alternatively they can opt for a package including a cinch bag, sword, shield, pins, Duffy plush, and autograph book.

The price for the Royal Tea is $220 for children and $69 for adults. Adults do not receive the additional gifts.

Table Service Dining

Cabanas is the closest thing to a buffet-style restaurant found on the Disney Dream. For breakfast and lunch, guests can order freshly-made food at 10 different stations. At dinner, the restaurant becomes table service.

Quick Service Dining

Flo’s cafe.

Flo’s contains three different stations: Luigi’s Pizza, Tow Mater’s Grill, and Fillmore’s Favorites. Between them guests can grab burgers, pizza, salads, sandwiches, and more.

Rotational Dining

Animator's Palate on the Disney Dream | Magic in the Planning

Animator’s Palate – This is definitely one of the most unique dining experiences onboard, and you can find it on four Disney cruise ships. Offering Pacific Island foods, Asian cooking, and fresh California fare, Disney animation comes to life throughout your meal.

Enchanted Garden – Inspired by the gardens of Versailles, this restaurant is truly breathtaking. It serves a market-style menu and is one of the main dining restaurants onboard that also serves breakfast and lunch.

Senses Juice Bar – After your workout or massage, enjoy a healthy beverage to restore and replenish your body (available for an additional fee).

Character Meals & Unique Dining Experiences

While some of these dining experiences require an additional fee, be sure to check your specific cruise information for more Disney character meals! On our last cruise, we were able to reserve our spot at the Disney Junior character breakfast at no additional charge. We simply needed a reservation!

Royal Court Royal Tea – Children ages 3-12 can participate in this uniquely royal experience. Herbal tea and two courses are provided, and several Disney princesses make an appearance! Children also receive a selection of special gifts . Like Olaf’s Royal Picnic, this experience is available for an additional fee.

District Lounge – This is a cool spot where adults can chill and have a good time. The vibe is cozy and upscale, with a modern design that feels futuristic. It’s no wonder it’s the go-to place in the adults-only entertainment district.

Evolution – This nighttime venue is exclusively for adults, providing a range of entertainment options such as dancing, games, karaoke, comedy, and cabaret. The club takes inspiration from butterflies, showcasing a dynamic atmosphere that symbolizes their beautiful transformation.

Meridian – Located at the back of the ship, Meridian offers extraordinary seating with breathtaking ocean views. Whether you’re planning to dine at Palo or Remy, or simply want to savor a refreshing cocktail in the evening, make sure to visit for a pre- or post-dinner drink on either the indoor or outdoor deck. Additionally, don’t miss the opportunity to explore the diverse range of cigars available at the smoke bar.

Pink: Wine and Champagne Bar – This bar is for adults only and is designed to look like the inside of a Champagne bottle. There are even light fixtures that look like Champagne flutes and glowing glass bubbles.

Pub 687 – During the day, this lounge has lots of fun stuff going on like movies, music, and sports trivia contests that everyone in the family can join. After 9:00 PM, it becomes a chill place for adults to relax and watch sports games, play trivia, and have a delicious drink like beer, wine, or a cocktail.

Skyline – Kick back and enjoy a drink while taking a virtual tour of awesome cities across the world. This super cool technology by Disney Imagineering, called “windows to the world,” lets you see aerial views of different cities every 15 minutes. To the buffet, and beyond!

Besides characters in their first-mate and captain outfits (including Captain Minnie), there are adults-only pools and lounges, kids clubs that grown-ups will be jealous of, and so much food. And let’s be honest, I made my way to every single restaurant and bar on the ship so I could try everything. The offerings on the Disney Dream are vast, with everything from wagyu steak to creative cocktails and a secret cookie hack.

I recently took my family on Disney Dream cruise, and after we tried as much as we possibly could in five days, I narrowed down the ship's must-try dishes, drinks, and snacks. Here are all the items to look for on your next sailing.

Grand Marnier Souffle

grand marnier souffle

The Grand Marnier souffle is a sweet ending to the French-inspired meal at the Royal Palace dining room. The individual-sized souffle billows over the edges of the ramekin. It's placed in front of you while still piping hot and a Grand Marnier-flavored creme anglaise is poured into the middle.

Limone Basilico Cocktail

limone basilico cocktail

One place I visited every night of the cruise was Meridian, an adults-only bar located between the two adults-only restaurants, Remy and Palo. The bar has impeccable views of the ocean, and the bartenders specialize in custom cocktails. Just tell them what flavors and spirits you like and they can shake (or stir) something up. On the first night at Meridian, the bartender made this cocktail with vodka, basil, and limoncello, which was light and refreshing after a day spent on the pool deck.

wagyu beef

This literally melt-in-your-mouth wagyu dish can be found in Remy, the upscale adults-only restaurant that's inspired by Pixar’s Ratatouille. Just be sure to make reservations for the three-hour tasting menu dinner before your cruise.

Fried Calamari

fried calamari

Instead of going to the buffet every day for lunch , consider the Royal Palace dining room, where the menu rotates daily. The fried calamari were perfectly cooked with a light and crispy batter that didn’t overwhelm the dish. Just a squeeze of lemon juice is all this needs to be perfect.

Black Truffle Pasta Purseittes

black truffle pasta purseittes

This is an iconic dish on the Disney Cruise Line and for good reason. Any pasta dish that combines truffles and champagne is a hit in my book. And pro-tip: while these are an appetizer at Animator’s Palate, you can ask your server to make it an entree portion.

Parmesan Crusted Chicken Breast

parmesan crusted chicken breast

Brunch at Palo, one of the adults-only restaurants on the Disney Dream, is easily my favorite meal on any Disney cruise. I always order the chicken parmesan as an entree. The thinly pounded, golden brown fried chicken is topped with a fresh tomato-basil sauce and mounds of melted parmesan cheese. It's served with a creamy and cheesy risotto .

Every Dessert at Palo

every dessert at palo

Our server at Palo insisted that we must try every dessert at brunch, and he was right. We tried all six, and each was a hit. Luckily, they're included in the overall price of the meal, which was $45 per person. (Desserts going clockwise from top: limoncello torte, Italian zabaglione, warm amaretto chocolate fondant, chocolate raspberry tarte, warm apple cinnamon sticky bun. Middle: buttermilk panna cotta pot.)

Ahi Tuna and Avocado Tower

ahi tuna and avocado tower

Fresh seafood was abundant on the ship, but this ahi tuna and avocado tower was a standout. The perfectly stacked ingredients made for beautiful plating. The addition of crunchy noodles on top added a great textural difference and the wasabi dressing on the side added a nice spicy kick to the dish.

Old Fashioned

old fashioned

Again, Meridian was the spot to be when we craved a bourbon -based drink. The bartenders whipped up a smooth old fashioned with our choice of bourbon, plus their choice of bitters. The drink was garnished with a citrus peel and three Luxardo cherries. The bartender also put bourbon smoked sugar on top of the cherries to bring out more caramel notes.

Baked Macaroni and Cheese

baked macaroni and cheese

Disney’s macaroni and cheese is one of my favorite versions of the classic dish because it’s super creamy and cheesy. I had no shame getting it from the kid's menu at dinner sometimes. The room service menu on the Disney Dream has a baked macaroni and cheese. The dish is essentially the same creamy pasta from the kid's menu but topped with a crispy panko crust that was browned off in the oven for a few minutes before being delivered to our stateroom.

Caramel Hazelnut Mocha

caramel hazelnut mocha

The Cove Cafe is the coffee bar near the adult pool. They can make everything you can imagine, including coffee drinks with characters imprinted on the foam. Our favorite drink on the cruise quickly became the iced caramel hazelnut mocha, which is made with Da Vinci gourmet hazelnut, gourmet caramel sauce, espresso , and milk. The coffee from the Cove Cafe is an extra cost, but be sure to ask for a punch card that you can use throughout the cruise. After five stamps you turn the card in for a free coffee. Pro-tip: the snacks in the glass case of the Cove Cafe are complimentary, even if you don’t buy a coffee. There are items like Rice Krispies treats , cranberry bars , and pastries.

Ice Cream Cookie Sandwich

ice cream cookie sandwich

This takes a little planning, but ice cream cookie sandwiches are one of the best Disney Cruise Line food hacks we’ve ever discovered. First, you order two chocolate chip cookies from room service, or get them from one of the quick-service restaurants on the pool deck. Then walk to the self-serve ice cream machine near the family pool and top one cookie with your choice of ice cream . Put the other cookie on top and you have an instant ice cream sandwich. We got a lot of questions about this as we walked around the pool deck eating them. This hack also works at Disney’s private island, Castaway Cay. Just get some cookies from any of the three BBQ lunch locations and hit up the ice cream machines on the island.

Everything You Need to Know About Traveling on the Disney Dream

I love all five of the Disney Cruise Line ships that I’ve been on, but I seem to spend the most time on the Disney Dream ship. It’s a beautiful ship with so many things for kids and adults to do, and because of the itineraries on the Disney Dream, it’s a pretty easy cruise to take for a quick getaway.

If you plan to cruise on the Disney Dream, here is everything that you need to know, including things to do on the Disney Dream.

If you want to take a cruise on the Disney Dream, be sure to book with Get Away Today. When you mention Family Travel Magazine, you get an extra $25 on board credit! Give their agents a call at 877-510-2929.

The Disney Dream is the third ship in the Disney Cruise Line fleet – and the first of the larger Dream class ships (the other being the Disney Fantasy ).  It was brought into service in 2011 after a christening by Jennifer Hudson (who was once an entertainer aboard the Disney Wonder ).

It offers 1,250 staterooms and can accommodate up to 4,000 passengers. It definitely feels like a large ship – it takes a while to completely explore it. After seven different sailings on the ship, I feel like there are still areas that I haven’t explored.

Staterooms on the Disney Dream

Our family usually books an oceanview stateroom with verandah. Those offer a king bed as well as a set of bunk beds.

There are a variety of room types on the Disney Dream, including concierge rooms, verandah rooms, oceanview staterooms (with one or two porthole windows but no verandah), and inside rooms (that offer a “magical” porthole). Connecting staterooms are also available for larger groups.

Staterooms have a split bathroom (one room with a sink and toilet and one room with a shower/tub), a refrigerator, a closet, a safe, a hairdryer, and a television. Note that there are some rooms that only have one single bathroom.

Rooms include H2O toiletries that are mounted on the shower wall and generally have lots of space in various compartments for storing things. We always unpack right away and store our suitcases under the bed in our stateroom. That way, you’ll definitely have more room to move around.

Irons are not available in the room, but there are laundry rooms on the ship with iron facilities. If I need to iron anything, I like to do that on the first day so I can just hang things up and not worry about them. Check the map or ask your stateroom attendant where the laundry room is.

The beds on the ship are very comfortable – I find that I sleep so well on a cruise ship because of the light sway and the great room darkening shades.

Some rooms have bunk beds. For those, your stateroom attendant will pull down the bunk every evening and put it away in the morning if you’d like to use it. There are also rooms with trundle beds, which can accommodate up to 5 passengers.

If you are wondering what stateroom on the Disney Dream to book, you should consider how much time you plan to spend in the room, and what you plan to do in the room. When we sail, I love to grab a cup of coffee and sit outside watching the waves.

I also love watching the ship pull into port in the morning. Because of that, I’ve found that the verandah rooms are best for us. But they are definitely more expensive, so you’ll want to make sure you will use it.

If you don’t plan to spend much time in the room, an oceanview stateroom or an inside room may be a better option. It’s more economical, and you can always go on deck if you’d like to see outside. There are plenty of places to sit on the deck where you can see the ship pulling into port.

Room location may also be important to you. I generally don’t care too much, but I don’t like being right below the pool, or too close to the elevators. When traveling with friends and no kids, I like to be above the adult-only sections so they are easy to get to.

Like on the other ships, passengers on the Disney Dream often like to decorate their doors with stateroom door magnets . It’s a great way to identify your door when walking down the halls. If you want to do this, you’ll want to get prepared in advance.

My kids love picking out magnets before we leave on vacation. We typically add these to our day bag so we can decorate as soon as we are able to access our room, without waiting for our luggage.

See our in-depth review of the staterooms on the Disney Dream here .

Restaurants on the Disney Dream

What restaurants are on the Disney Dream? The Disney Dream offers the same unique rotational dining experience that the other Disney Cruise Line ships offer. There are three main restaurants on the Disney Dream – Animator’s Palate, Royal Palace, and Enchanted Garden.

You’ll be assigned a specific rotation when you arrive at the port and will have the same dining staff during your entire cruise.

If you are on a four-day or five-day cruise, you’ll get assigned one or two restaurants twice. I have a child with food allergies, so I find it helpful to have the same servers because they already know us and the food restrictions.

At Animator’s Palate, you’ll see a fun show featuring Finding Nemo’s crush. It’s the most lively of the restaurants and is always my kids’ favorite.

Royal Palace is the more upscale restaurant, featuring delicious French food (try the escargot appetizer). It seems more luxurious but is still pretty casual. My favorite menu on the ship is at Royal Palace.

Enchanted Garden is absolutely beautiful – watch as the ceiling darkens from day to night during your dinner.

In addition to the three main restaurants, there are some quick-serve options. Cabanas is the buffet restaurant that offers breakfast and lunch, in addition to the delicious evening buffet on Pirate Night . There is seating both indoors and outdoors.

In addition, you can forgo your usual dining rotation and go to Cabanas on select nights. If it’s nice outside, I’d definitely recommend grabbing your breakfast and lunch and heading outside to eat.

Cabanas is fully staffed by the regular dining room staff, so if you need any assistance, or have food allergies, you’ll definitely find someone who can help.

There are other quick-service locations that serve pizza, salads, and sandwiches. We sometimes want a quick snack and will grab a slice of pizza – especially if we have the second dinner seating.

For coffee lovers, you’ll want to check out the Cove Cafe, which serves premium coffee. It’s only for adults and can be a nice place to sit and read a book as you sip your coffee.

You can also get Dole Whips (both with and without alcohol) at Frozone Treats on Deck 11.  Room service is available to order 24 hours a day, except for disembarkation day.

For itineraries stopping at Castaway Cay , you’ll find two delicious BBQ restaurants on the family beach, as well as an adult-only BBQ restaurant at Serenity Bay. Servers from the ship travel out to the island to serve at these three locations.

For an additional fee, adults can choose to dine at Palo , the upscale Italian restaurant onboard, or Remy, the upscale French restaurant.

In addition, Palo’s often offers brunch on one day of the cruise. The brunch is absolutely delicious – I definitely recommend checking it out. While it has changed from a buffet to a sit down meal, it’s still fantastic.

If you want to eat at Palo, book it in advance so you’ll have your choice of times. The brunch especially is pretty popular and does book up.

Between Palo and Remy, you’ll find the Meridian bar, which offers alcoholic beverages in a bar with gorgeous views. I love grabbing a drink there before my meal at Palo.

If you are cruising with kids, you’ll probably find that they are happy to spend time in the kids’ clubs while you are eating. My kids usually order room service and then head to the kids’ clubs when my husband and I go to Palo.

Adult Areas on the Disney Dream

The kids’ clubs are fantastic on the Disney Cruise Line , so you’ll probably have some opportunity to explore the ship without kids. My kids always love checking out the kids’ clubs, and we even have to convince them to leave.

There are several adult-only areas and activities on the ship. The bars and clubs in the District section are adult-only in the evenings and offer entertainment and game shows.

My favorite adult-only area of the ship is Satellite Falls, which has a small waterfall/pool, as well as many lounge chairs. When my kids are in the kids’ clubs, I always enjoy grabbing a book and reading in the quiet area.

The ship also has a Senses Spa, which is a full-service spa offering lots of different services. For a treat, book a day pass for the Rainforest Room, where you can enjoy heated lounge chairs, two jacuzzis, a steam room, and much more.

Activities on the Disney Dream

There are so many things to do on the Disney Dream. You’ll even find that many guests don’t disembark at some ports because they are having so much fun on the ship. My kids especially love the kids’ clubs.

There are several options, depending on your kids’ ages, including a nursery, Oceaneer Club, Edge, and Vibe. There’s an open house that is held on the first day, so you can walk around and check things out with your kids.

There are also pools, the Aqualab splash area, and the famous AquaDuck – a watercoaster where you can travel in a tube around the ship.  At the pool deck, you’ll find the FunnelVision TV, which offers movies and shows throughout the day.

You can also see first-run Disney movies in the theater. We usually skip the movies, however, because there is so much more to do. On longer sailings, my kids love sitting in the water watching a FunnelVision movie.

Families will enjoy the various game shows and activities offered in D Lounge throughout the day. For adults, there are some alcohol-tasting classes that you can sign up for (additional fees apply).

I’ve done a few of these and have always enjoyed them – my favorite is the wine tasting. You can sign up for these once you get on the ship.

There are also a variety of character greetings throughout the day – check the Disney Cruise Line app for a full schedule. In addition, make sure that you check the navigator on the first day ., because there are sometimes character greetings that require tickets.

For those kids who love to dress up, there’s a Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique onboard, which shifts to a Pirates League on Pirate Night.

Shows on the Disney Dream

What shows are on the Disney Dream? There are three Broadway-style shows that you can see on the ship. Currently, these are the Golden Mickey’s, Beauty and the Beast, and Disney’s Believe. Read our review of Beauty and the Beast here .

These are very high-quality shows and can be great for kids. They generally run twice per night, and you’ll go to the showing that is opposite your dinner seating time. If you haven’t seen them, I definitely recommend going to each of the shows.

Itineraries on the Disney Dream

What are the Disney Dream itineraries? In the past, the Disney Dream sailed from Port Canaveral on three or four-night Bahamian sailings and was a great option for a Disney Land and Sea vacation because it was easy to combine one of these shorter cruises with a Walt Disney World vacation.

However, with the introduction of the Disney Wish , which has taken over that schedule, the Disney Dream now offers different sailings.

Home ports include Fort Lauderdale, New York, San Juan, Southhampton, and Barcelona. These cruises range in length from three to thirteen nights.

Other Things You’ll Find on the Disney Dream

In addition to everything we’ve also discussed, there are lots of other things you’ll find on the ship. These include a photo studio (where you can purchase the photos that are taken of you on the ship), a rebooking desk (book your next cruise while onboard and you’ll get a discount), a port adventure desk, a port shopping desk, and so much more.

There are also several shops onboard selling sundries and Disney merchandise. It’s important to know that these shops do not open when the ship is in port, only when it is sailing. It’s important to make sure you pack everything you need because it’s tough to buy essentials on board.

If you are wondering what a Disney Cruise costs , visit this post.

Frequently Asked Questions

The three main dining rooms are Animator’s Palate, Royal Palace, and Enchanted Garden. There are also two adult dining locations (Palo and Remy), a buffet (Cabanas), and several quick-serve spots.

Upcoming itineraries include the Caribbean, the Bahamas, Canada, Europe, and Bermuda.

They are very similar ships, with many of the same amenities. Some of the bars and lounges are a bit different. Both are great ships.
