Planning a cruise on the Disney Magic ? Here’s everything you need to know about Disney Magic restaurants and dining!

We truly loved our dining experiences on the Disney Magic. In fact, aside from Castaway Cay, dining on the Disney Magic was maybe one of our favorite things about our recent Disney Cruise! Cast members really go above and beyond to make sure you are taken care of, and while we did have a few dishes that fell short of our expectations, almost everything we ate was truly phenomenal.

How Does Dining Work on a Disney Cruise?

First, let’s start with how dining works on a Disney Cruise. While there are buffet and snack options available for breakfast and lunch, for dinner, you will be assigned a restaurant and a time.

Disney Cruise Line Rotational Dining

Disney Cruise Line uses a rotational dining system. This means that when you board the ship, you will be assigned a specific restaurant each night.

There are three main dinner restaurants on each Disney Cruise ship, so you will have a chance to experience all three. Disney Magic restaurants include Lumiere’s, Animator’s Palate, and Rapunzel’s Royal Table. On our Disney Cruise , we ate at Lumiere’s the first two nights, Animator’s Palate the third and fourth nights, and Rapunzel’s Royal Table on our last night.

One of the cool things about rotational dining is that your servers also rotate with you. This means you will have the same servers each night and they will go out of their way to make sure you have everything you could want or need! They really get to know you, and you have a chance to get to know them. And if you have any specific dietary requests or preferences, they will be ready each night.

We LOVED our servers on the Disney Magic, and they made dinner such a special experience. I was so impressed when, after the first night, we came to dinner each night with the children’s preferred drinks already out. We were also traveling with someone who is gluten-free, and they had her special rolls ready for each meal. I mean, honestly they will even cut up your child’s food. The level of service is RIDICULOUSLY high.

Assigned Seating Time

You will also be assigned a seating time for dinner of either 5:45 p.m. or 8:00 p.m.

Most families with kids choose the 5:45 time. And it is all worked out so that you have entertainment options opposite your dinner time. (So if you had a 5:45 dining time, you would go to a show after dinner, while the late seating would go to a show before dinner.)

What Dining is Included in the Price of Your Cruise?

Almost all of your dining is included in the price of your cruise. This includes your dinners each night, your breakfast and lunches, snacks on the pool deck, and even room service (although you will want to have a bit of cash for room service tips).

What’s NOT included in your cruise price? Any dining experience at Palo, alcoholic beverages, special coffee beverages, and some specialty snacks you might find at places like Frozone Treats.

So how do you pay for food that is an additional cost on your Disney Cruise? Just tell the cast member your room number! They will charge everything to your room, so there is no need to carry a credit card or cash around.

Disney Magic Restaurants: Rotational Dining

There are three Disney Magic restaurants that are included in your rotational dining: Lumiere’s, Animator’s Palate, and Rapunzel’s Royal Table. Each has a unique menu and theming and include some kind of entertainment offering.

Lumiere’s

Location: Deck 3 Included in Cruise Price: Yes

Lumiere’s is themed after Beauty and the Beast, and features a large dining room with draperied accents, French inspired décor, a large Beauty and the Beast mural, and even roses in the chandeliers.

The menu is, as expected, French themed. I had the deep fried brie for an appetizer (so richly delicious!), leek and potato soup (it was ok), and the rack of lamb for my main course (it was fantastic!). For dessert I had crème brûlée . It was good? But I’m also not the biggest crème brûlée fan.

disney magic cruise restaurant menus

While I’m not sure entertainment is offered every night, when we had our traditional Lumiere’s dinner, Mickey and Friends came to walk through the restaurant and did a little dance number for us.

And I will say this: Lumiere’s was not at all our favorite meal experience on board. But it was still fantastic!

Lumiere’s is also open for sit down breakfast and lunch during your cruise. We had breakfast here one day, and I had the BEST French toast!

disney magic cruise restaurant menus

Animator’s Palate

Location: Deck 4 Included in Cruise Price: Yes

Animator’s Palate is a classic Disney Cruise favorite restaurant, and can be found on all four of the original Disney Cruise Line ships (Magic, Wonder, Dream, and Fantasy). While each version of Animator’s Palate is a little different, they all highlight the magic of Disney Animation.

On the Disney Magic, when you enter the restaurant, everything will be in black and white, from the walls to the vests the servers are wearing. Throughout your meal though, color will slowly be added to everything. Ultimately, you’ll get a fun show on the screens throughout the restaurant. On our cruise, we all drew pictures at the beginning of the meal that were animated on the screen later!

As far as food goes, I can’t actually personally speak to much. On our night at Animator’s Palate, Gerrit and I had a dinner reservations at Palo. We went for part of the meal with the rest of our party though and had the Black Truffle Pasta Purseittes as an appetizer, and they were fantastic. Other than that, dishes include offerings like tuna steak , herb-crusted pork chop , and ginger-teriyaki angus beef tenderloin . Dessert offerings include walnut cake , sticky pudding , and an ice cream sundae .

Pro tip: Always listen to what your waiter recommends! They really know the best dishes that each restaurant has to offer.

Rapunzel’s Royal Table

Rapunzel’s Royal Table is going to be perfect for the princess loving members of your family! And even if you aren’t, you’ll still find it so fun.

The idea behind Rapunzel’s Royal Table is that Rapunzel’s friends are throwing her a birthday party, and the dinner includes a staggered show (characters come out to the stage at various times in the meal to sing some songs and prepare for the birthday party). At the end, you get to be included in the lantern festival, as lanterns light up all around the restaurant.

disney magic cruise restaurant menus

We had really great food here. I had beef ravioli for an appetizer which was very good. For dessert I had the fry pan sweet bread and the black forest tower cake , and both were okay. (Admittedly, the apple strudel is what was recommended as the best dessert, but I’m not an apple dessert person.) But the real highlight of my meal was the Tangled Pasta , which was a pesto pasta with scallops. It was one of my favorite dishes I had on the whole cruise! Other entrees include pork loin, chicken, and prime rib.

One note about Rapunzel’s Royal Table: it can get shaky! This restaurant is located on Deck 3 just above the engines I believe, so if your ship is really going, you may feel a lot of vibration.

Special Menu Nights

If you are on a longer cruise, you may have special menus for some nights. On our cruise, we had the “Let the Magic Begin” menu on the first night and the “Pirate Night” menu on Pirate Night. If you are sailing near a holiday or for a special cruise (like Pixar Day at Sea), there might be other menus.

Here is what we experienced on our cruise.

Let the Magic Begin (First Night) Dinner

For the first night of our cruise we dined at Lumiere’s but did not have the traditional Lumiere’s menu. In fact, I believe that every restaurant served the same menu that night. And really it was one of my favorites!

I had fried calamari for an appetizer, and delicious pork tenderloin wellington for my main course (another one of my favorite dishes of the cruise!), and a decadent dark chocolate bombe for dessert.

There was no particularly special entertainment for us on this night.

disney magic cruise restaurant menus

Pirate Night

Pirate Night is a beloved tradition on Disney Cruises, and the restaurants get into it to. We dined at Animator’s Palate on this night, and the walls and music were all pirate themed. Pirates also visited us for a brief performance during the meal.

Inspired by Pirates of the Caribbean, the restaurants serve dishes inspired by Caribbean flavors. I had a great osso bucco for my main course, and the rum-soaked chocolate cak e for dessert was amazing.

Also, don’t be afraid to dress up for Pirate Night! So many people go all out (there was seriously someone on our cruise who dressed in a full body parrot suit). But if you don’t have the attire, don’t worry: they had bandanas at everyone’s place that you can wear!

Disney Magic Restaurants: Buffets and Snacks

Throughout the ship you’ll find lots of options for buffet meals or snacks. Really, there always seems to be food available. (It’s seriously impossible to go hungry.)

Cabana’s

Location: Deck 9 Included in Cruise Price: Yes

Cabana’s is the go-to buffet open for breakfast and lunch every day, along with some nights as a table-service offering. (This won’t be on your dining rotation, it’s just an option that is there if you want it. And it’s not always open. In fact, I don’t think it was open for dinner at all on our cruise.)

For breakfast you’ll find a pretty standard breakfast buffet, and offerings will vary by day. You’ll find items like oatmeal, eggs, bacon, an omelet station, pancakes, Mickey waffles, bagels, muffins, etc.

There were a few particular highlights for me that made me excited for Cabana’s breakfast. First of all, most days thay had ham and cheese croissants that I adored. They also had chocolate covered donuts that almost had a hard chocolate shell, which I probably shouldn’t have loved as much as I did.

But the real highlight of Cabana’s was the Mickey Churro Waffles . These were INCREDIBLE. And I feel so lucky that we had them almost every morning of our cruise, because I don’t think they are offered on all mornings or even on all cruises.

disney magic cruise restaurant menus

The lunch menu will depend on your location. Generally it is a pretty standard buffet with soups, salads, meats, pasta, and pizza. But if you are at port, you may find the offerings more themed. (When we were in Nassau, the dishes offered had more of a Caribbean flair.)

Duck-in Diner

Location: Deck 9 (pool deck) Included in Cruise Price: Yes

Duck-in-Diner is a favorite place to get lunch on the pool deck. They serve standard burgers and fries, but they also serve schwarma, giving a little bit of variety to otherwise not quite as exciting food options. My favorite? A plate of schwarma AND fries.

Pinocchio’s Pizzeria

Pinocchio’s Pizzeria is where you can get pizza by the slice on the pool deck. There’s not really much else to say about this; it’s pretty standard pizza. But it makes for an easy lunch if you are out by the pool and is an obvious kid’s favorite.

Daisy’s De-Lites

This is a great place for snacks on the Disney Magic pool deck. They offer some sandwiches and wraps, fresh fruit, and cookies.

Pro Tip: Looking for drinks on the pool deck? While Daisy’s De-Lites is on the starboard side outside of Cabana’s, there is a free beverage station in the same location on the port side.

Eye-Scream Treats

Free soft-serve! Free soft-serve! Seriously I love so much that you can be hanging out at the pool and just walk over and get a cone of ice cream. (Also, in case you are wondering, the “eye” in “eye-scream” is because the spot is named for Mike Wazowski from Monsters Inc.)

disney magic cruise restaurant menus

Frozone Treats

Location: Deck 9 (pool deck) Included in Cruise Price: No

Next to Eye-Scream Treats, you’ll find Frozone Treats. Here you can get specialty smoothies and beer. (Note, these are an additional charge.)

Location: Deck 4 Included in Cruise Price: No

Located just outside the Walt Disney Theater, Preludes offers theater snacks and drinks you can enjoy during the show. (Note: these are an additional charge.)

Disney Magic Restaurants: Bars and Lounges

Not traveling with children? Don’t worry, there are lots of adult only areas or areas that offer you a chance to sit down with a drink. Note that everything here is not included in the price of your cruise and will be an additional charge.

Location: Deck 9 Included in Cruise Price: No

Cove Café is located in the adults-only section of the Disney Magic. In the morning, you’ll find specialty coffee beverages (my husband was here EVERY morning). In the evenings, you’ll find a lounge where you can enjoy cocktails. This is also where many of beverage tastings (that you can purchase at an additional charge) take place.

Signals is an outdoor bar in the adults-only pool area. Technically this is the Quiet Cove Pool. But at some hours of the day, you’ll find live music here too.

Location: Deck 3 Included in Cruise Price: No

This adults-only bar is a piano bar and offers live music at night.

O’Gills Pub

Themed after an Irish pub, this adults-only bar is where you can grab and drink and watch sports. This is really the only place on the ship (aside from your own stateroom) that has TVs.

Promenade Lounge

Promenade Lounge offers entertainment at almost all hours of the day, and you can grab drinks and snacks. During the day they offer things like animation classes or trivia for all ages. At night it turns into an adults-only lounge area with live music.

Like Promenade Lounge, Fathoms offers entertainment for families throughout the day but turns into an adults-only club in the evening. You can get specialty cocktails here.

Special Dining Options on the Disney Magic

Adult’s only dining at palo.

Location: Deck 10 Included in Cruise Price: No

Palo is the adults-only restaurant on the Disney Magic. It is themed after Venice, Italy and offers a luxurious dining experience.

Gerrit and I ate here and had a truly fantastic time. The service was, of course, outstanding, and so was the food. Honestly, the only negative is that I did not think my steak was that great. But Gerrit got the Dover Sole and it was the best fish we have ever tasted and we also loved the pesto gnocchi and the mac and cheese . (I know, it sounds counterintuitive to have mac and cheese at a fancy restaurant, but this cheesy goodness was the best mac and cheese I have ever tasted.)

Bruch at Palo is even more popular than dinner, where they offer special egg dishes and gourmet waffles alongside pasta and pizza and dessert.

Palo Brunch is generally a fixed price. For dinner, you can choose from either a fixed price or an a la carte menu.

disney magic cruise restaurant menus

Royal Court Royal Tea

Location: Deck 3 (Lumiere’s) Included in Cruise Price: No

Royal Court Royal Tea is a special experience aimed at children (seriously, at the time of this post, children cost $220 while adults cost $69, and adults must be accompanied by a child.)

You’ll get to have tea with princesses, enjoy tea, have some tea snacks, and take home some special souvenirs (like a princess doll and an autograph book).

On the Disney Magic, this event takes place in Lumiere’s. Really, Royal Court Royal Tea is more about the experience with the princesses that the food, so know that going in.

Room Service

Location: Your Room! Included in Cruise Price: Yes

One amazing thing about Disney Cruises: room service is available 24 hours a day and is included in the price of your cruise. Options include burgers, sandwiches, salads, desserts, breakfast items, and more.

And the BEST thing about room service? You can call and get Mickey Premium Bars delivered right to your room! I mean, seriously. There is nothing like sitting down on your stateroom verandah with a freshly delivered Mickey Premium Bar!

Pro Tip: Always have a few dollars with you to tip for room service!

Embarkation Day Dining Options

If you board the ship around lunch time on embarkation day (which I highly recommend, by the way, to maximize your time on the ship), you will have a few options for lunch.

First of all, you will be able to eat the lunch buffet at Cabana’s.

The second option is to eat at one of the sit down restaurants. This is Lumiere’s, but when we went they were also seating people at Rapunzel’s Royal Table. You’ll find pretty standard lunch fare here, like burgers, sandwiches, and some main dishes (like chicken and beef.) On our embarkation day, we ate at Rapunzel’s Royal Table. I had the prime rib (it was fine) and Gerrit had a muffuletta sandwich that he said was great.

Debarkation Day Dining Options

You will be debarking the cruise ship early in the morning on your debarkation day. And you’ll have two options for breakfast before you leave.

Everyone will be assigned a breakfast rotation for the last morning. This meal will take place in the same restaurant you had dinner at the night before. Your dinner servers will serve you breakfast, and while the food isn’t the most amazing (I could definitely tell my French toast wasn’t as good as it was earlier in the week), it’s a good option.

Admittedly though, this sit-down breakfast can take place extremely early and can feel a little rushed. So some people choose to go to Cabana’s for breakfast on the last morning. There you’ll find a breakfast buffet, although the options are usually more limited than they are the rest of the cruise.

There is one thing that should go without saying about dining on a Disney Cruise: you cannot go hungry. Disney Magic restaurants really do cater to all tastes, whether you burgers and fries or a fine dining experience. And we loved every single meal on our cruise!

Disney Magic Dining Overview

There are three themed sit-down restaurants onboard Disney Magic, and, thanks to rotational dining, you get to experience them all during your cruise. And your waitstaff team will rotate with you too!

You will find these sit-down restaurants onboard:

  • Rapunzel’s Table
  • Animator’s Palate
  • Palo (adults only, reservations required)

There are also several grab-and-go locations:

  • Duck-in Diner (shawarma, hamburgers and hot dogs)
  • Pinocchio’s Pizzeria
  • Eye Scream Treats
  • Frozone Treats

Cabanas, a casual restaurant offering buffet-style dining during breakfast and lunch, and table-service during dinner.

You can also order room service. It is available 24 hours a day.

The best part of cruising is that most of the meals and snacks are included in the price of the cruise! Dining at Palo and some items like specialty coffee and Dole Whip (😥) require an additional fee.

Rapunzel's Royal Table

Rapunzel’s Table is a Tangled-themed restaurant featuring German cuisine-inspired dishes.

This is our favorite restaurant on Disney Magic: not only it is beautifully decorated but you will also be treated to entertainment by Flynn Rider, Snuggly Duckling Thugs, and of course,  Rapunzel herself and an enchanting floating lanterns procession.

Our second favorite restaurant onboard Disney Magic. As you enter Animator’s Palate you see the walls decorated with hand-drawn images in black and white, but through the dinner the images come to life and the restaurant is transformed with splashes of vibrant color.

Let The Magic Begin (First Night) Menu

The dinner menu on the first night cruise – “Let The Magic Begin” – is the same no matter what restaurant you are assigned to. We had our first dinner at Rapunzel’s Royal Table, but we didn’t get to see the dinner show until our second time at the Rapunzel’s.

Pirate Night Menu

A Pirate Night is quite different during the current restrictions. There is no deck party or fireworks (we did get Merrytime fireworks though!). You can still see characters dressed in pirate outfits and there are plenty of pirate-themed activities throughout the day (see the daily schedules here ).

You will receive the bandanas at the restaurant before the dinner vs a stateroom host leaving them in the room. My best guess this is so the guests would not get tempted to wear them as masks – there were several announcements made during the dinner stating they are NOT masks.

There was a short pirate show during the dinner.

I have not had the pleasure of dining at Palo yet as it is an adult-only restaurant and my kiddo is only 12 (see our post on what it is like cruising with tweens here ) and I am not quite ready to dine at a fancy restaurant all by myself, so I just have the screenshots of the menu, no food pictures.

Casual & Quick Service Dining

Cabanas is a casual restaurant offering buffet-style dining for breakfast and lunch, and table-service for dinner.

We had dinner at the featured restaurants, so we did not have a chance to check out the dinner service at Cabanas.

For breakfast you will find:

  • Oatmeal & grits
  • Eggs Benedict, scrambled eggs, omelets
  • Pancakes, waffles, and French toast
  • Breakfast meats

For lunch you can expect:

  • Deli meats & cheeses
  • Seafood bar (including crab legs!)
  • Several protein options
  • Pasta & potatoes
  • And, of course, a variety of desserts

Duck-in Diner

You will find hamburgers, hot dogs, and shawarma at Duck-in Diner.

Daisy's De-Lites

Daisy’s De-Lites is serving salads, sandwiches, wraps, cookies, and fruit. They also have a “make-your-own-bowl” section. We tried a chicken noodle soup from this station and was not good at all. The rest of the offerings were delicious and perfect for in-between meals snacks.

  • Alcoholic Beverages and Specialty Drinks : Soft drinks are free at the beverage station, but alcoholic beverages, smoothies, and specialty coffees are not.
  • Snacks at Preludes : Snacks and beverages at Preludes, located near the ship’s theaters, are not included.

Keep in mind, though, that gratuities are not included in the cost of a Disney cruise, and this applies to both the included and extra-cost meals.

Types of Dining Experiences on Disney Cruise Line

Disney Cruise Food - Roast Duck breast and leg on a plate with a dark sauce

A Disney cruise offers a variety of dining options to suit every taste, from gourmet foodies to fussy eaters. Here are the main types of dining experiences you’ll encounter on a Disney cruise.

Rotational Dining on Disney Cruises

Disney Cruise Line’s Rotational Dining introduces a novel approach to dining, blending variety with familiarity. My wife and I are big fans of this system, as it brings a delightful element of surprise to our meals.

In the Rotational Dining system, you’ll visit three main dining restaurants during your cruise, changing the venue each night . This rotation lets you appreciate the unique ambiance, theme, and menu of each restaurant, ensuring that you experience them all.

You don’t need to make a reservation for the nightly dinner service — you simply pick a dining time when you book your cruise. You’ll select either early/main dining (usually around 5:45 PM), or late/second dining (typically around 8:00 PM). As you board the ship, you’ll receive a dining rotation that shows which restaurant you’re assigned to for each night of the cruise.

One of the standout features of this system is the consistent service. Your serving team travels with you from restaurant to restaurant, quickly becoming familiar with your personal preferences, dietary requirements, and even your favorite dessert, leading to a truly personalized dining experience.

Here’s a glimpse into the dining rotation on each ship:

  • On Disney Magic , the rotation includes Lumiere’s, Animator’s Palate, and Rapunzel’s Royal Table.
  • The Disney Wonder features Triton’s, Animator’s Palate, and Tiana’s Place.
  • On Disney Dream , you’ll experience Royal Palace, Animator’s Palate, and Enchanted Garden.
  • Disney Fantasy also includes Royal Court and Animator’s Palate but with the Enchanted Garden as the third venue.
  • And finally, Disney Wish introduces Arendelle: A Frozen Dining Adventure, Worlds of Marvel, and 1923.

Disney Cruise Food - Prime Rib on a plate with potatoes and vegetables

Every meal becomes a highlight of the day, bringing the excitement of a new setting combined with the comfort of familiar faces in our serving team. For my wife and I, the variety offered by Rotational Dining transforms each meal into its own unique adventure.

Buffet Dining

Disney Cruise Line’s buffet dining options, like Cabanas on four Disney ships and the new Marceline Market on Disney Wish, offer a casual, diverse culinary experience. Both buffet venues feature an extensive selection of dishes for breakfast and lunch in a free-flowing dining environment, allowing guests to enjoy a variety of dishes at their leisure.

At Cabanas , guests can start their day with a classic American breakfast featuring made-to-order omelets, scrambled eggs, sausages, and Mickey-shaped waffles. Lunch transitions into contemporary favorites like salads, soups, burgers, sandwiches, steak, chicken, seafood, and pizza. Vegetarian options and a kid-friendly menu are also available.

Cabanas’ décor is designed to evoke the relaxed ambiance of a beach boardwalk, complete with sweeping sea views through floor-to-ceiling windows and on an outdoor patio. The nautical-themed setting is enhanced with a stunning 30-foot-long mosaic depicting a scene from Pixar’s Finding Nemo.

Disney Wish enhances the buffet experience with Marceline Market , a unique venue housing a series of themed food stations. Inspired by international marketplaces, the restaurant offers a wide range of international dishes, including Italian staples, Asian specialties, comfort food, and seafood specialties.

Dining at the buffet is included in your Disney cruise fare and offers flexibility to suit every schedule. However, because operating hours and offerings vary from day to day, please check the daily schedule.

Specialty Dining

Disney Cruise Line’s specialty dining options are perfect for guests seeking an upscale, intimate culinary experience. These adult-exclusive venues – Palo, Remy, and Enchanté – do require an extra fee and reservations, but they provide an unforgettable culinary experience.

  • Palo , available across all ships, offers Northern Italian cuisine in a sophisticated setting. The menu features a wide range of antipasti, handcrafted pasta, seafood, and delectable desserts, paired with a comprehensive wine list. Palo is my personal favorite, consistently impressing me with its atmosphere and cuisine. On the Disney Wish, Palo is enhanced as Palo Steakhouse , offering not only Italian favorites but also prime beef choices such as Australian wagyu and Japanese Kobe/Miyazaki.
  • Remy – found on Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy – delivers a superb French menu inspired by Disney and Pixar’s Ratatouille. My wife, Jaimie, is a huge fan of Remy — the impeccable service, the menu bursting with flavors, and the overall culinary experience are exceptional.
  • On the Disney Wish, Enchanté takes luxury dining up a notch. The adults-only spot serves incredible food in a stunning setting with a menu designed by a three-Michelin-starred chef.

Palo Steakhouse – Disney Wish

The specialty dining venues on Disney cruises offer a peaceful, adult-only escape amidst the bustling cruise activities. They provide an opportunity for a relaxed, romantic meal. Exceptional service, thoughtful theming, and gourmet cuisine set these dining experiences apart on any Disney cruise. Speaking from personal experience, my wife and I believe these extraordinary moments justify the additional expense and the need to dress up just a bit.

For instance, on the Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy, you can grab a quick bite at Flo’s Café , a Cars-themed quick service location offering American classics. On the Disney Magic, you’ll find the Duck-In Diner serving up delicious meals poolside. Pinocchio’s Pizzeria, a beloved feature on Disney Magic and Disney Wonder, delivers hot, fresh pizza throughout the day. On the Disney Wish, the Mickey and Friends Festival of Foods offers a selection of quick bites.

Quick-service dining is included in your Disney cruise fare, ensuring a wide selection of options for everyone in your party at no additional cost.

Character Dining Experiences

One of the unique aspects of a Disney cruise is the opportunity to dine with beloved Disney characters . These special dining events provide magical moments for kids and kids-at-heart alike.

Some of the main dining rooms offer some character interaction during dinner. For example, Louie makes appearances at Tiana’s Place on the Disney Wonder, and the Frozen dining experience on Disney Wish features all the primary characters from the films.

Arendelle Dining

Arendelle – a Frozen Dining Adventure, onboard the Disney Wish

Character breakfasts may be offered on cruises of seven nights or longer and offer the chance to pose for photos and get autographs from characters dressed in the cruise attire . It’s the perfect way to kick off your cruise day and one of the many reasons why Disney Cruise Line enjoys a reputation as the best cruise line for kids .

Additionally, the Royal Court Royal Tea Party (available for an additional fee on all ships except the Disney Wish) is a grand affair where young guests are treated like royalty . Accompanied by select Disney Princesses, guests enjoy tea, sandwiches, and pastries, along with storytelling and song performances.

The Vacationeer can provide more information about these special dining experiences.

Themed Dining Events

Disney Cruise Line takes themed dining to a whole new level with their unique dining events. These include Pirate Night , a swashbuckling celebration featuring a special menu and a grand deck party, and Frozen-themed dining on select sailings, where guests can savor Nordic-inspired dishes while interacting with beloved characters from the film.

On Marvel Day at Sea and Pixar Day at Sea sailings, guests can enjoy special themed menus inspired by their favorite movies. These dining events, complete with character appearances and entertainment, add another layer of magic to the Disney cruise experience.

In addition to meals, Disney Cruise Line offers a variety of snacks throughout the day. You can satisfy any mid-day or late-night craving with a variety of sweets and savory options.

One popular spot for a sweet treat is Eye Scream Treats , a self-service frozen dessert station where you can enjoy a (free!) swirled cone of soft-serve ice cream in various flavors. For those desiring a pastry or a caffeine kick, the adults-only Cove Café provides specialty coffees and assorted pastries.

Guests aboard Disney Dream can visit Vanellope’s Sweets & Treats , offering a delightful mix of candies, gelato, and baked goods inspired by the Wreck-It Ralph movies. On the Disney Fantasy, Sweet on You caters to guests’ sweet tooth with its handcrafted gelato, ice cream, chocolates, and an extensive selection of candies.

These snack locations are perfect for moments when a small treat is just what’s needed to satiate a sweet tooth or tide you over until the next meal. It’s important to note that while many snack options are included in your cruise fare, some items, particularly those from Vanellope’s Sweets & Treats and Sweet on You, carry an additional charge.

Room Service

Disney Cruise Line offers 24-hour complimentary room service , allowing guests to enjoy a meal or snack in the comfort of their stateroom. The room service menu features a variety of options, including sandwiches, salads, burgers, desserts, and a selection of beverages. Be sure to try the  All Hands On Deck cheese/cracker/fruit plate — it’s a repeat cruiser favorite!

You will need to pay a bit extra if you want canned sodas, specialty drinks, or prepackaged candies.

Whether you’re craving a midnight snack or prefer breakfast in bed, Disney’s room service has you covered. However, note that while the food is complimentary, gratuities for the delivery personnel are customary and not included in your cruise fare.

Lounges and Bars

Disney Cruise Line boasts a diverse range of bars and lounges catering to various moods and occasions. From refined champagne bars to dynamic sports pubs and relaxing pool bars, there’s an ideal spot for everyone.

Certain venues like Crown and Fin and O’Gills not only offer an extensive beverage selection but also provide light snacks or small-plate food options, enhancing your night out.

For those favoring an alfresco experience, pool deck bars such as Currents and Waves are perfect for a cocktail or cold beer paired with a selection of snacks.

Each Disney ship hosts a unique nightlife district, offering themed bars and lounges. For example, the Europa district on Disney Fantasy, with its European-inspired venues, offers a variety of specialty drinks and bite-sized foods.

Disney Cruise Line’s bars and lounges extend beyond relaxation and socialization; they deliver a culinary adventure with finely crafted drinks and delightful snacks amidst a magical Disney setting. Note that while many drink options are included in your cruise fare, some specialty beverages and foods may incur additional charges.

Food at Disney Cruise Line Destinations: A Tasting Tour

Disney Cruise Food - Scallops seared and served with orzo and vegetables

Disney Cruise Line’s itineraries do more than just transport guests to some of the world’s most captivating and scenic destinations; they also offer a passport to discover unique flavors and culinary traditions from across the globe. As a result of the diverse food options available at these destinations, dining becomes an adventure, allowing guests to experience local culture through their food.

Castaway Cay

Castaway Cay, Disney’s private island in the Bahamas, is a tropical paradise with great food as well. Included in your cruise fare are meals at two island dining venues, Cookie’s BBQ and Cookie’s Too BBQ , which serve a mouthwatering spread of BBQ ribs, burgers, grilled chicken, hot dogs, fresh salads, and soft-serve ice cream.

Disney Cruise Food - Cookie's BBQ entrance, showing plates stacked high and customers entering

Adults searching for a serene and relaxed dining environment can head over to Serenity Bay BBQ . This adults-only location provides the same tantalizing menu in a tranquil setting. It’s a location my wife, Jaimie, and I particularly enjoy.

Should you wish to indulge a bit more, various island bars serve a selection of tropical cocktails and beer for an additional fee.

Whether you’re savoring your meal with your toes in the sand or enjoying a fruity drink at the adults-only Serenity Bay, Castaway Cay offers a delicious taste of the tropics. See our Castaway Cay Tips page for more information.

Caribbean itineraries offer a chance to taste a medley of cuisines influenced by African, European, and Amerindian traditions. Local food vendors at various ports of call might serve up dishes like jerk chicken in Jamaica, roti in Barbados, or conch fritters in the Bahamas. If your itinerary includes a stop in Mexico, take advantage of the chance to savor authentic tacos or enchiladas.

Mediterranean

Disney’s European cruises introduce guests to a wide range of culinary traditions, especially in the Mediterranean. In Italy, you might enjoy a classic pasta dish or a slice of authentic Neapolitan pizza. In Greece, sample the traditional moussaka or a gyro filled with succulent meat and fresh tzatziki. If your cruise stops in Spain, don’t miss the chance to try paella or tapas.

Other Food Experiences on Disney Cruise Line

Disney Cruise Line also offers Port Adventures in many locations that include food tastings or cooking demonstrations, allowing guests the opportunity to learn more about the local cuisine and culture.

While dining onboard Disney Cruise Line is an experience to remember, the culinary adventures continue at each unique port of call. From local restaurants and food stalls to Disney’s very own Castaway Cay and forthcoming Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point , there’s a world of flavors waiting to be discovered on your Disney Cruise Line journey.

Each dining venue on the ship features diverse menu options, many of which are suitable for vegetarians, vegans, and those with food allergies or intolerances. Guests with special dietary needs can expect to find a variety of tasty dishes, from fresh salads and grilled vegetables to unique plant-based entrees.

Disney Cruise Food - Mushroom Tart

Disney Cruise Line menus accommodate a range of dietary requirements, including gluten-free, lactose-free, Kosher, Halal, and more. However, to ensure a seamless dining experience, guests are encouraged to communicate any food allergies or special dietary needs at the time of booking. This information is then shared with the onboard team to prepare and handle your meals with utmost care.

A Disney Travel Agent from The Vacationeer can be a helpful resource in managing this process. They can assist in notifying Disney Cruise Line of any dietary needs ahead of your sailing, ensuring your dining experience is worry-free and enjoyable. Remember, the key is to communicate your needs in advance, and Disney will do its best to accommodate you.

Review: Magic Kingdom fireworks cruise is pricey, but stress-free

The Magic Kingdom fireworks cruise might be expensive, but it’s also zero-hassle, and when split among a large group, it’s not a bad deal.

Magic Kingdom fireworks cruise

What is a Magic Kingdom Fireworks Cruise?

Have you ever seen pontoon boats cresting along the Seven Seas Lagoon after nightfall and wondered, “How can I do that?”

Walt Disney World Resort in Florida offers fireworks cruises that sail along the bodies of water outside of Magic Kingdom Park for prime viewing of the nighttime spectacular. These cruise bookings are available to any guest.

Magic Kingdom Happily Ever After fireworks cruise

75 minutes before the fireworks’ showtime, you’ll board a private vessel under the helm of their own personal Disney cast member. After enjoying light snacks and floating around the Seven Seas Lagoon and Bay Lake, you’ll enjoy the fireworks from your boat.

This experience doesn’t have a specifically longwinded or Disney-fied name; it’s simply called a fireworks cruise. The offering is part of Disney’s Enchanted Extras Collection, the name for extra-charge experiences guests can add to their Disney World vacation (like backstage tours, private PhotoPass sessions, etc.).

Price of Magic Kingdom Fireworks Cruise

Disney’s fireworks cruises start at $449, increasing depending on the date. Don’t let the steep price fool you, though; the experience is more affordable than at first glance.

To be certain, $449 is a lot of money, but unlike most price listings throughout Disney World, this cost refers to the price per boat, not per person. Up to 10 guests can take part in the fireworks cruise, and the price will be the same no matter how many people you bring.

Therefore, a fireworks cruise is among the few experiences in Disney World where more people = less money. The more people onboard, the lower the cost will be for each guest. If you max out the capacity and book a cruise for 10 guests, the price starts at about $45 per person. That’s on par many other reservable add-ons to a Disney vacation, and in many cases is far cheaper than them.

Magic Kingdom at dusk

To compare, a round of putt-putt at Fantasia Gardens and Fairways Miniature Golf costs $19 per person, the one-hour Behind the Seeds backstage tour at Epcot starts at $39 per person, and dinner at Magic Kingdom’s Be Our Guest Restaurant costs $41 for guests ages 3-9 and $70 for guests ages 10+.

Also unlike many add-on Disney experiences, Magic Kingdom fireworks cruises do not require theme park admission. This makes the excursion an excellent option for an arrival-night experience, or otherwise any day of vacation you don’t spend in the parks, so as to not take precious park time away from those days. Alternatively, a fireworks cruise makes a nice option for the end of a day that begins at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park, since that park often closes earlier than the others and has no nighttime spectacular.

View of Fireworks

Magic Kingdom fireworks cruise

During your fireworks cruise, the cast member driving your part will “park” the vessel with a postcard-perfect view of Magic Kingdom directly in front of you, with Cinderella Castle and the Walt Disney World Railroad Station visible.

Your boat’s speakers even pump in the entire show’s soundtrack, synced with the park.

From this vantage point, the projections on the castle aren’t very clear, but the trade-off is more than fair. This is as good as it gets, and the quintessential image many folks think of when they hear the words “Disney World.”

Choose Your Own Adventure

At the beginning of our voyage, our cast member driver asked my family what kind of cruise we wanted, and how we preferred she interact with us. She said we could have a friendly cruise, making polite conversation; a Disney history cruise, pointing out fun facts around the waterways; or a “pretend I’m not here” cruise, during which she’d drive the boat but otherwise let us enjoy family time without interruption. I appreciated this blunt communication, as I’d imagine different guests have different styles of cruises in mind.

We opted for the Disney history version, and I’m glad we did. Our driver showed us a tree that generations of recreation cast members have their tossed shoes upon, what remains of the Discovery Island dock (from a safe distance), and a small barn Disney constructed (on the far reaches of Bay Lake that I did not know existed) as a habitat for bats to keep the insect population in check. Sure enough, later in the evening we saw bats flying about above the lake in such a quantity that I wondered how I’d never noticed them before.

Bay Lake at Walt Disney World

After the show was over, our driver asked if we wanted to stick around for the Electrical Water Pageant, the procession of fiber-optic floats whose lights dance to synth music. Yes, please!

Snacks Onboard

A small selection of snacks are included with the price of the fireworks cruise. Whereas some Disney “snacks” are plentiful enough to substitute a meal, the snacks provided during this experience are snack snacks, so don’t skip dinner. During our cruise, we enjoyed canned soft drinks, bottled water, Mickey rice crispy treats, and individually packages chips. You’re allowed to take home what you don’t use — perfect for bring with you to the parks the next day! There are no alcoholic beverages onboard.

Which Show Will You See?

Happily Ever After poster

Most nights of the year, Magic Kingdom performs “Happily Ever After,” its standard (and spectacular) production that debuted in 2017.

If your fireworks cruise is during August through December, your excursion might coincide instead with Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party or Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party. On nights when these events take place, Magic Kingdom instead presents “Disney’s Not-So-Spooky Spectacular” or “Minnie’s Wonderful Christmastime Fireworks,” respectively.

Since fireworks cruises can’t be booked farther than 60 days in advance, you should be able to consult Magic Kingdom’s calendar and see which nights will have which show (or ask the cast member during your booking phone call).

Just like on regular nights, if your cruise is during a party evening, you do not need party admission to book a fireworks cruise.

Pick-Up and Drop-Off Locations

Upon reserving your fireworks cruise, you can select where you’d like your boat to pick you up: Disney’s Contemporary Resort, Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground, Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, or Disney’s Wilderness Lodge. You do not need to be staying overnight at any of these resorts to select it as your pick-up location.

Cruises do not embark from Magic Kingdom itself, but all of these resorts are a quick monorail or ferry boat ride away from the park. If you have questions about how to get from point A to point B, ask the cast member you speak with when you call Disney to reserve your cruise.

Additionally, at the end of your voyage, your driver can drop you off at any of the aforementioned resorts, even if it’s not where your cruise began.

Disney's Polynesian Village Resort lobby

Our family started the day at Animal Kingdom, exited the park around 5:30 p.m., rode a bus to the Polynesian, grabbed a quick-service dinner at Capt. Cook’s, and boarded our fireworks cruise at the Polynesian marina at 7:15 p.m. Our excursion took place during spring break , so afterward we opted to get dropped off at Grand Floridian to see the lobby’s display of Easter eggs.

How to Purchase a Disney Fireworks Cruise

You can book a fireworks cruise 60 days in advance of your intended cruise date (or 60 days in advance of your Disney resort check-in date, if staying on property).

Magic Kingdom at night

Reserve a Magic Kingdom fireworks cruise by calling (407) 939-7529. Reservations are not available online.

Is the Fireworks Cruise Worth It?

Is a Magic Kingdom fireworks cruise worth the bang for your buck? I’d say it absolutely is, and then some — on the condition you’re able to bring a large group and economize your dollar. On the other hand, if you only have one or two other travel companions with you, a fireworks cruise is difficult to justify for the price.

Then again, there might be more appeal to this experience for you beyond its price tag. Does picking out a fireworks spot in front of Cinderella Castle an hour before showtime and waiting among a huge crowd sound like your worst nightmare? If so, a stress-free, private fireworks viewing might be worth it to you, at any cost. In a trip filled with Lightning Lanes and virtual queues , our family’s fireworks cruise was easily the most relaxing, worry-free activity of our Disney vacation.

Magic Kingdom bokeh

A happy medium — watching from outside the park and away from huge crowds, but not paying hundreds of dollars to do so — presents itself in the form of casual beachside viewing at the Polynesian Village Resort. You’ll be much farther away from the fireworks, yes, but hey, it’s free.

If this will be your first time viewing any Magic Kingdom fireworks show, opt for watching the show from inside the park instead (see options below). While the view from the water is gorgeous, you’ll get a fuller sense of the show’s projections and added media from in front of the castle.

Other Disney Fireworks Packages

In addition to private pontoon cruises outside of Magic Kingdom, Disney offers several other fireworks viewing experiences.

Magic Kingdom hosts reserved fireworks viewing inside the park paired with dessert parties before , during , and after the show.

Epcot offers dining packages with reserved seating for “ Luminous The Symphony of Us ” at Spice Road Table (in the Morocco Pavilion) and Rose & Crown (in the United Kingdom Pavilion) , as well as its own private fireworks cruises (launching from Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club Resorts).

Note that Magic Kingdom’s former “ Ferrytale Fireworks: A Dazzling Dessert Cruise ” is no longer offered.
