Amazing safari trip

We had a wonderful time with Explorer Kenya. We stayed at Masai Mara for 3 days / 2 nights. Our guide Jonathan has more than 2 decades of experience. He knows the entire area and showed us lots of different animals, including lions, giraffes and hippos. In one morning drive, we were lucky and saw a rare encounter of three male lions and a lioness who have taken down a hippo, and were taking turns to eat. It’s a National Geographic documentary in real life!

Safari tour guide with Jonathan’and james

Safari tour guide is ultra important. He needs to be well experienced, swift, agile, sharp eyed, maneuvering the vehicle like Indiana Jones, positioning the vehicle for best viewing. Jonathan is one such guide. Among all others, I find our Jeep always get to the right place with the best view. He even drives beyond scheduled time, without our request, just to find the gaming opportunity.

Jonathan was an amazing driver

Jonathan was an amazing driver, was very knowledgeable of the area and where to look for animals. All the drivers talk together over radio to notify each other when and where there is something cool to see. Our car had incredible suspension and comfortable seats. Got to see virtually every animal plus watch lions mate from 20 feet away. Overall just an incredible experience.

5 days amazing Safari in Kenya

We had a wonderful safari trip! It was an amazing experience with amazing people. Thanks to our experienced and always happy guide Jonathan we managed to see all of the big 5. Jonathan has a lot of knowledge and told us so much about the animals and the country. The lodges are beautiful with stunning views, good food and perfect services. Wonderful safari with peace of mind

We just got back from safari (July 21-30) with this agency. Everything went very smoothly with every string well attached throughout. Pre-planning with the owner Robert was diligent and very professional. His suggestions were to the point and very helpful. They custom built the safari to fit our particular needs and requests, as far as itinerary, safari experience and lodging options. The guide they appointed to my wife and I (John Muhoi) ended up a friend. He was kind, open, knowledgeable, quit-witted, contemplative. Everything you could ask for and more. We learned a lot about the flora and fauna, of course, but more importantly about Kenyan people and society, its struggles and prospects. All in all, we found great personal value in this safari and we recommend this company strongly. Asante sana to Robert and his team.

We booked a safari 3 days best of kenya safari with guide Jonathanwith explorer kenya…

We booked a safari with explorer kenya after being referred to us by a close friend, having travel with them before. We wanted one of their best guide Jonathan as well he was referred to us. Our safari was a fantastic one. We stayed at the mara simba lodge, in a very luxurious cabin over looking talek river where we could see hippos basking on the sandy banks of this river. Jonathan our recommended guide was amazing too with stories of his past experiences with wildlife and he knew everyone and everywhere to find us animals. This was the best safari and we never expected to see animals in a close range as we saw. Our gratitude goes to Jonathan and explorer kenya safaris for being there for us and hosting us for a 3 day 2 night masai mara. Asante sana.

Incredible 5 day safari experience

We had an amazing experience with Explorer Kenya. It was so simple to deal with the team and make bookings, change dates and organise activities. Everything was taken care of and went so smoothly. Once on safari, Samuel was a great host and his knowledge and positivity made the trip extra special. All of the accommodation in Aberdare, Nakuru and Mara were so welcoming and comfortable. Couldn't have asked for a more exciting and luxurious trip. We planned a once in a lifetime holiday, but now we know we will be back again!

Amazing experience

We were fortunate to work with EKS for our 12 day safari. In 20 years of travel as a professional photographer, this group was first rate. Their knowledge, professionalism and and humor made our trip stress free. 12 days is a long time to spend with anyone and they made it feel like we were with friends and never strangers. Simon Peter, Simon and Johnathan couldn’t have done a better job as our guides. As photographers they strives to put us in the best positions and also did a great job spotting and educating along the way. If you are making the journey to Kenya, EKS is the way to go.

Maasai Mara safari with Kids

Our Maasai Mara safari with Explorer Kenya (Jonathan) was great! We’re a traveling family with a 2 and 4 year old. Jonathan is a kind, knowledgeable person and made sure the kids were comfortable; they even slept during the game drives on bumpy roads. We saw many animals and every game drive something special: a group of 20 hyenas feasting on a zebra, 2 leopards, lion couple, lions with cubs feasting on another zebra, a cheetah chasing gazelles and our daughter’s favorites, lots of (alive) zebras and giraffes. The Simba Lodge was ok, but clearly low-season, the personnel at the restaurant were bored and tried to help in every way possible which was mostly annoying, overwhelming and not helpful at all. The lodge is not kids friendly, the pool is to cold and there are no other playgrounds/games.

Great Family Safari with Explorer Kenya Tours

Explorer Kenya Tours has done a great job with the planing and execution of our 6 day family safari to Masai Mara, Lake Naivasha, Lake Nakuru and Amboseli National Park. From the first contact Mrs. Purity was allways quick and patient in responding to my e-mails Some personalized changes of the initially proposed program where quickly incorporated. The selected superior quality Lodges where up to the mark. Our guide and Driver Jonathan did a fantastic job. He was patient with our small daughters, a good and safe driver. In the parks he knows many persons and all the places. This knowledge and his love for photography helped us to spot and click everything we dreamed for from close range: Lions, Cheetahs, Leopards , Elephants, black and white Rinos, Hypos, Buffaloes, Giraffes, Crocodiles, Impalas, Zebras and many more. We all loved it!

I highly recommend the Explorer Kenya safari with driver’s Johnathon and Simon Peter. Our driver Simon Peter is very knowledgeable and has a great personality. He gave us plenty of time to watch the animals and is very good at spotting them. He definitely knows all of the different species. He answered all of our questions that have to do with the Safari and questions about Kenya. Simon Peter is a fantastic safari guide and very highly recommended.

Great experience with Jonathan during a…

Great experience with Jonathan during a week in July 2022. I was with my parents, my sister and my girlfriend and we spent some magic times with the best guide, for sure. He always tried and succeeded to show us the best animals and the best views in Amboseli Park, Nakuru Lake, Naivasha Lake and Masai Mara! I recommend Jonathan! He has always been perfect with us with a great knowledge of the different animals and of all the roads of the parks by heart! Thank you !

The big 5 in 4 overwhelming days

My husband and I went on safari for our honeymoon and are still overwhelmed. We saw the Big 5 right on the second day. Our friendly and experienced guide Jonathan told us a lot about the wildlife, gave us insider tips and knew every place incredibly well. He gave us a very pleasant trip with his authentic, friendly and yet professional manner. We could always say where we would like to stop and watch the animals and we got the time we needed. We saw sooo many animals in 4 days. I think even pretty much all there is to see at Lake Nakuru and Masai Mara. In this few days we just could switch off our mind and enjoy our honeymoon to the fullest. We can absolutely recommend Explorer Kenya and hope to come back soon :) thanks for everything Jonathan!

Amazing Kenya Safari

My family and I spent a week in Kenya with Jonathan and Simon-Peter of Explorer Kenya. I cannot recommend them enough. If we’re ever fortunate enough to come back we will seek them out. They were very knowledgeable. Any question we had, they had an answer for. They were also very patient and accommodating. We traveled with a 4 year old and it was never an issue. Fantastic Mara safari

I cannot recommend Explorer Kenya more highly. The drivers, Jonathan and Joseph, were excellent. They made sure we saw four of the big five, while showing respect for the animals. We were lucky enough to see lion cubs, a hyena kill, cheetah, a leopard and an aborted river crossing by migrating Wildebeeste, They could answer our questions, from type of bird to animal behaviour. The camp, Ashnil, is set on a bend in the Mara River with hippos in the water below and bushbuck wandering by the restaurant. The service is attentive, the food good, the tents spacious and comfortable. Plus, there is a pool where you can shake out the game drive cramps and the kids can play. It was all we wanted for our family safari - and more. Above all, as Jonathan said, the Mara is a paradise. It was a privilege to be here.

7 Days Masai Mara Lake Nakuru and Amboseli Safari

The seven day Masai Mara safari visits Kenya’s most famous national parks and reserves including Masai Mara , Lake Nakuru, and Amboseli National Park.

This safari visits the best parks in Kenya in terms of wildlife diversity, flora and fauna and great scenery. The safari is ideal for wildlife lovers, photographers, groups, families, bird watchers and couples who love nature.

The Masai Mara , Lake Nakuru and Amboseli Park safari covers a great deal of ground over a short time and still leaves you with lots of time for wildlife viewing.

You spend a total 3 nights in Masai Mara National Reserve home to Africa’s big cats – lions, cheetahs, leopards amongst other wildlife including but not limited to bat eared foxes Masai giraffe, impala, spotted hyena, baboons, warthogs, jackals, hartebeests, zebras, wildebeest, elephants, buffaloes, hippos and crocodiles.

You have 1 night at Lake Nakuru , one of Kenya’s smallest park but the best place to spot white rhinos.

Amboseli is home to lots of elephants and Mount Kilimanjaro.

This safari can start in Masai Mara or Amboseli depending on availability of accommodation.

Safari accommodation ranges from 5 star lodges to 3 star tented camps depending on your budget

These parks allow you to spot lots of wildlife within a short time but the distances between the parks are quite long so if you have additional time, its advisable to extend the safari by a day, visiting Lake Naivasha which serves to shorten the distance between Amboseli and Lake Nakuru and gives you a chance to rest and have a walking safari among wildlife on Crescent Island.

Pick up at 8:00 AM in Nairobi and leave for Amboseli National Park arriving for lunch. Have an afternoon game drive. Dinner and overnight at Amboseli Serena Lodge

A day of game drives in this park, which dust devils swirl around the edges, but in the heart of the park is an amazing swamp which elephants and hippos are in abundance. A visit to the observation hill will follow where you will look out for the glistering majestic snowcap of Mt Kilimanjaro.

Amboseli is justly famous both for its big game – elephants, which are the most studied in the world. Living beside the most celebrated culture in the world- the Masai. You will have lunch and a leisure break at the Lodge in the mid-afternoon before returning to the wild for an afternoon game drive. Dinner and overnight Amboseli Serena Lodge.

Have breakfast and an en-route game drive in Amboseli. Drive to Nairobi for lunch. Leave for Lake Nakuru. You have a brief stop at the Rift Valley viewpoint to take photos of the escarpment and the sheer drop of the Rift Valley. Drive on to Lake Nakuru National Park. arriving in the late afternoon. The lake is a spectacular ocean of pink surrounded by forest and plains that are home to lion, rhino, leopard, and large herds of water buck. You shall arrive for lunch. Afternoon game drives around the lake — dinner, and overnight at Sarova Lion Hill Lodge.

Have breakfast and a morning game drive.  Arrive for lunch then proceed for a game drive upon arrival to this world’s best-loved reserves with its savannah rolling hills and riverine forest, with grazing herds, bountiful bird life and Africa’s largest population of lions. Dinner and overnight at  Mara Serena Lodge.

Early breakfast followed by a full day game drive within the reserve as the rains bring the grasslands of Masai Mara to life, the vast plains rumble with the thunder of approaching hooves as 1.5 million wildebeest migrate up the south into Masai Mara from Serengeti.

The great migration is a vision beyond belief of one of the world’s most impressive spectacles staged every year in Kenya, directed by raw forces of nature. You will also appreciate it’s high animal concentration and abundance of black-maned lions, herds of topi roan antelope, cheetah, common zebra, Coke’s hartebeest though luck is essential for spotting leopards and rhinos. Dinner and overnight at Mara Serena Lodge. Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Early breakfast followed by a game drive. The landscape is breathtaking with its network of roads specially constructed for game viewing. The Mara River bisects the Masai Mara Game Reserve with its tributaries which are bordered by luxuriant riverine forests. Return to your lodge for lunch

In the afternoon you have two optional activities, a visit to Masai village to see their nomadic life this at extra cost or a game drive. Dinner and overnight at Mara Serena Lodge. Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

After breakfast, proceed for your final game drive leave for Nairobi with packed lunch arriving in the late afternoon where the safari ends with a drop off at the airport or your Nairobi Hotel.

There are just 10 luxurious river-facing tents in total at Mara Explorer Camp, each furnished with four-poster beds, antique storage chests and open-air claw-footed bathtubs with views over the African bush.

Dining at Mara Explorer Camp takes place in an atmospheric riverside dining area, which adjoins a plush lounge and well-stocked library. Guests are also able to use the freeform swimming pool or purchase souvenirs and other essentials at neighbouring sister camp Mara Intrepids.

Private guided game drives take place three times a day within the Masai Mara Game Reserve – in open-sided vehicles, and guests also have the option to participate in walking safaris led by a resident Maasai naturalist in the Mara Conservation Area. How to get to Mara Explorer Camp

We tought that 3 days, in fact it was even à little bit less would not allow us to discover and enjoy the wild life of animals but thanks to our driver Mr John Kariuki and his collègue we admired all kind of species including the big five with the exception of rhinocéros Nevertheless he found for us an ostrich brooding.Thank you John for your patience and for your explanations, perseverance and long driving.

We've had a wouderful time with our guide tour John Kiriuki. The safari was astonishing. We felt safe and lucky to live that expérience.

We came to Mara Eden safari camp for 3 days with Jonathan as our driver. We had spectacular game drives around the Masai Mara park. We took the morning and eveningsdrives because the activity of the animals is then the biggest. On our first evening game Jonathan took us to beautiful places and we saw a lot of the animals already. We had even a rarely hyena-zebra hunt to chase with the jeep. On the second day we went in the morning to see a lot of baby lions (11) and 6 mothers. When we went back to the camp we saw the father lion hidden in the bush. We had a safe trip, we watched all the animals of the big five and much more. Thanks to him for this fantastic experience !
