Kevin Morby has shared  Music from Montana Story,  the official soundtrack for the 2021 film  Montana Story.  Morby has also revealed a music video for the single “Like a Flower,” as well as an expansive 2023 world tour.

Montana Story,  which tells the story of estranged adult siblings who reunite on their family’s Montana ranch after their father falls into a coma, premiered at Toronto International Film Festival in 2021 and received a limited 2022 release in the US and internationally.

Morby’s soundtrack is 13 tracks and only 18-minutes long, with plenty of moody guitar instrumentals plucked out in sparse soundscapes.  Music from Montana Story  also boasts “One Paper Kid,” a collaboration with Morby’s partner Katie Crutchfield as Waxahatchee , while “Like a Flower” is a call by a dying person to be recalled in their younger days.

“Remember me as a baby,” Morby sings, “Remember me as a child/ The night is coming on now/ And children, it’s my time/ To bloom/ To bloom/ To bloom/ Like a flower.” The song comes with a music video by Scott McGehee and David Siegel, who together wrote, directed, and starred in  Montana Story.  It shows off Montana’s rugged beauty, and you can check it out below.

You might also be able to hear it live if you attend one of Morby’s newly-announced 2023 tour dates. The 34-year-old songwriter has unveiled 26 new concerts to go along with a handful of previously announced 2023 stops. These include an April run through the American midwest, plus June and July treks through the UK and Europe.

Kevin Morby Announces Tour Dates, Releases New Soundtrack Album: Listen

Kevin Morby provided the music for Scott McGehee and David Siegel’s film Montana Story —a Western starring Haley Lu Richardson and Owen Teague as siblings who return home to their family’s Montana ranch after their father goes into a coma. Today, Morby has released his soundtrack for the movie. Find Music From Montana Story , along with the music video for the album-closing track, “Like a Flower,” below.

“It has long been a dream of mine to one day score a film, and, with Montana Story , I couldn’t have asked for a more perfect film to do so,” Morby remarked in a press release. “Against wide open landscapes, the film is patiently and masterfully captured, and it was my job, alongside my collaborator Rob Barbato, to write a score with as much beauty and depth as the film itself. I’m so proud of how everything turned out and am forever grateful to directors Scott McGehee and David Siegel for bringing me on.”

Music From Montana Story follows Morby’s 2022 studio album, This Is a Photograph . He’s continuing to tour in support of the projects, and you can find his upcoming schedule below.

Kevin Morby Releases ‘Music From Montana Story’, & Announces Additional 2023 Tour Dates

Today, Kevin Morby releases Music From Montana Story , a soundtrack for the 2021 film Montana Story, via Dead Oceans. Additionally, he shares a new video for the soundtrack’s featured track “ Like A Flower ” and announces  tour dates in the US, UK, and EU. All US dates go on-sale this Friday at 10am local time.

Written, produced and directed by Scott McGehee and David Siegel (What Maisie Knew, The Deep End), Montana Story is distributed by Bleecker Street / Stage 6 Films and available to stream on Showtime and major SVOD platforms. The film is a neo-Western that tells the story of two estranged siblings (Haley Lu Richardson, Owen Teague) who return home to the family ranch they once knew and loved,  confronting  deep and bitter secrets in the process. It’s a human-scaled story set against a mythic American backdrop – Montana’s Big Sky Country, sprawling with vast outdoor spaces and lonesome homes. Morby’s Music From Montana Story articulates both that sprawl and lonesomeness with the precision and delicate mastery of an artist who has always written straight from the heart, often about the very Western people and places that shaped his sound.

Before a note is played, there’s a delicate musicality to Montana Story – the crackle of gravel and strained local radio; tense familial silence; the pacing of footsteps in the morning cold. Morby’s score gives spirit and melody to that musicality: piano bars move like cautious footsteps while guitars hover over sleepless nights back in your childhood bedroom; radio songs flicker on with their timeless magic, creeping from the dial to the part of you that sings along in your truck and never, ever seems to forget the words. Music From Montana Story is as restrained and evocative as the story it lives inside, understated in its power but undeniable in its beauty. In “ Like A Flower, ” Morby’s voice unfurls over blooming instrumentation. The accompanying video was directed by filmmakers Scott McGehee and David Siegel intertwines clips from their film with footage shot in Kansas City, where Morby is based.

The American songwriter and musician will be coming to town in the wake of a new release.

The enigmatic artist is preparing for a big year. He’s got a new release planned – a companion piece to his wildly successful album This Is a Photograph – as well as a worldwide tour, which will be wrapping through Europe and the United States.

In spring, Kevin will bring his soulful voice and enchanting songwriting to Australia.

Those keeping a close eye on the artist may have suspected a local tour was on the way. He had already confirmed a date at Wanderer Festival in New South Wales and had plenty of room on his schedule for a longer stayover.

On May 26, he’s set to drop a new album More Photographs (A Continuum) which will serve as an accompaniment to his acclaimed 2022 release. Featuring three reimagined tracks and six new songs, the upcoming album follows the path of its predecessor, touching on similar themes of life, loss and passing time and exploring them even further.

“If This Is a Photograph is a house that you have been living inside of,” says Morby, “then More Photographs is, perhaps, the same home just experienced differently. As if you, its inhabitant, have taken a tab of something psychedelic, and now, suddenly, you’ve replaced your eyeglasses with kaleidoscopes.”

The former The Babies and Woods member has sharpened his songwriting skills over the course of his seven studio albums. A powerful voice in the modern folk rock and indie scene, he’s sure to deliver an unforgettable show when he makes his way to Australia.

Tickets to see Kevin Morby on his Australian tour this September and October are set to go on sale on May 11 at 10am local time. Presale will begin on May 10.

Kevin Morby Announces 2023 Australian Tour

American songwriter Kevin Morby has announced he’ll be returning to Australian shores this year, with six headlining dates locked in through the end of September and October. Morby will kick off the tour at the Factory Theatre in Sydney on Saturday, 30th September, and move through all major cities before finishing in Perth on Sunday, 8th October.

The tour will be in support of Morby’s new album, More Photographs (A Continuum) , which will serve as a companion record to his acclaimed 2022 release This Is A Photograph. We’ve heard a couple of the tracks off the new album – ‘This Is A Photograph II’ and ‘Five Easy Pieces Revisited’.

More Photographs (A Continuum) will arrive in a couple of weeks on Friday, 26th May. Speaking on the album, Morby said he felt like he had to “cast [the songs] out of me before moving onto the next project”.

“I knew that what I had begun with  This Is a Photograph  was not finished,” Morby said. “Releasing this collection is me tying a bow on that time and place in my creative life.”

“If  This Is a Photograph  is a house that you have been living inside of,” Morby continued. “Then  More Photographs  is, perhaps, the same home just experienced differently. As if you, its inhabitant, have taken a tab of something psychedelic and now, suddenly, you’ve replaced your eyeglasses with kaleidoscopes.”

Outside of his headlining tour, Morby is also set to appear at Wanderer Festival in Pambula Beach, alongside acts like The Jungle Giants and Spiderbait .

A powerful storyteller, Morby has been creating his own addition to the Great American Songbook since releasing his debut solo album, Harlem River ,  in 2013. Formerly a member of bands like  Woods  and  The Babies , Morby’s work has been influential in the U.S. indie and folk rock scenes, though it is in his now seven-album strong body of work that Morby’s legacy has truly been cemented.

Kevin Morby  brings the nuance and intimacy of his songwriting and recorded material into his live shows – an enviable experience that has grown a massive fan base worldwide.

For the first time Rosatom Fuel Division supplied fresh nuclear fuel to the world’s only floating nuclear cogeneration plant in the Arctic

The fuel was supplied to the northernmost town of Russia along the Northern Sea Route.

The first in the history of the power plant refueling, that is, the replacement of spent nuclear fuel with fresh one, is planned to begin before 2024. The manufacturer of nuclear fuel for all Russian nuclear icebreakers, as well as the Akademik Lomonosov FNPP, is Machinery Manufacturing Plant, Joint-Stock Company (MSZ JSC), a company of Rosatom Fuel Company TVEL that is based in Elektrostal, Moscow Region.

The FNPP includes two KLT-40S reactors of the icebreaking type. Unlike convenient ground-based large reactors (that require partial replacement of fuel rods once every 12-18 months), in the case of these reactors, the refueling takes place once every few years and includes unloading of the entire reactor core and loading of fresh fuel into the reactor.

The cores of KLT-40 reactors of the Akademik Lomonosov floating power unit have a number of advantages compared to the reference ones: a cassette core was used for the first time in the history of the unit, which made it possible to increase the fuel energy resource to 3-3.5 years between refuelings, and also reduce the fuel component of the electricity cost by one and a half times. The FNPP operating experience formed the basis for the designs of reactors for nuclear icebreakers of the newest series 22220. Three such icebreakers have been launched by now.

For the first time the power units of the Akademik Lomonosov floating nuclear power plant were connected to the grid in December 2019, and put into commercial operation in May 2020. The supply of nuclear fuel from Elektrostal to Pevek and its loading into the second reactor is planned for 2024. The total power of the Akademik Lomonosov FNPP, supplied to the coastal grid of Pevek without thermal energy consumption on shore, is about 76 MW, being about 44 MW in the maximum thermal power supply mode. The FNPP generated 194 million kWh according to the results of 2023. The population of Pevek is just a little more than 4 thousand, while the FNPP has a potential for supplying electricity to a city with a population of up to 100 thousand people. After the FNPP commissioning two goals were achieved. These include first of all the replacement of the retiring capacities of the Bilibino NPP, which has been operating since 1974, as well as the Chaunskaya TPP, which has already been operating for more than 70 years. Secondly, energy is supplied to the main mining companies in western Chukotka in the Chaun-Bilibino energy hub a large ore and metal cluster, including gold mining companies and projects related to the development of the Baimsk ore zone. In September 2023, a 110 kilovolt power transmission line with a length of 490 kilometers was put into operation, connecting the towns of Pevek and Bilibino. The line increased the reliability of energy supply from the FNPP to both Bilibino consumers and mining companies, the largest of which is the Baimsky GOK. The comprehensive development of the Russian Arctic is a national strategic priority. To increase the NSR traffic is of paramount importance for accomplishment of the tasks set in the field of cargo shipping. This logistics corridor is being developed due regular freight voyages, construction of new nuclear-powered icebreakers and modernization of the relevant infrastructure. Rosatom companies are actively involved in this work. Rosatom Fuel Company TVEL (Rosatom Fuel Division) includes companies fabricating nuclear fuel, converting and enriching uranium, manufacturing gas centrifuges, conducting researches and producing designs. As the only nuclear fuel supplier to Russian NPPs, TVEL supplies fuel for a total of 75 power reactors in 15 countries, for research reactors in nine countries, as well as for propulsion reactors of the Russian nuclear fleet. Every sixth power reactor in the world runs on TVEL fuel. Rosatom Fuel Division is the world’s largest producer of enriched uranium and the leader on the global stable isotope market. The Fuel Division is actively developing new businesses in chemistry, metallurgy, energy storage technologies, 3D printing, digital products, and decommissioning of nuclear facilities. TVEL also includes Rosatom integrators for additive technologies and electricity storage systems. Rosenergoatom, Joint-Stock Company is part of Rosatom Electric Power Division and one of the largest companies in the industry acting as an operator of nuclear power plants. It includes, as its branches, 11 operating NPPs, including the FNPP, the Scientific and Technical Center for Emergency Operations at NPPs, Design and Engineering as well as Technological companies. In total, 37 power units with a total installed capacity of over 29.5 GW are in operation at 11 nuclear power plants in Russia. Machinery Manufacturing Plant, Joint-Stock Company (MSZ JSC, Elektrostal) is one of the world’s largest manufacturers of fuel for nuclear power plants. The company produces fuel assemblies for VVER-440, VVER-1000, RBMK-1000, BN-600,800, VK-50, EGP-6; powders and fuel pellets intended for supply to foreign customers. It also produces nuclear fuel for research reactors. The plant belongs to the TVEL Fuel Company of Rosatom.

Rosatom obtained a license for the first land-based SMR in Russia
