  1. Some Alternatives to Those Over-Priced Compact Point and Shoots

Josh called the Olympus Trip 35 the quintessential compact camera, and he’s probably right. It’s about the same size as a Contax compact, features battery-free metering and auto-exposure, and exposes film through an incredibly sharp Tessar clone lens. Olympus Trip 35s were made by the millions, and this surplus means that there are still ...

  2. Olympus 35 EC and EC2 Review - By Michael Sherman - 35mmc

I discovered the Olympus 35 EC while looking for a 70s rangefinder alternative to the overpriced but highly lauded Olympus Trip 35. I was impressed at the specs of the Olympus EC line of cameras. They sport a battery operated light meter, a five element Zuiko 42mm lens, a shutter lock and an ISO setting up to 800 ASA.

There's some certainly. Kodak Retinas come to mind. There's models with fast f2 lenses around 120€. Generally folders are quite compact by their nature. Also the Trip doesn't take batteries, it has a selenium meter. Oh yeah - tons of alternatives for a compact viewfinder manual camera.

  4. Alternative to Olympus Trip 35? : r/AnalogCommunity - Reddit

Hi guys! I've been shooting with my Olympus Trip 35 and I'm loving it! Only thing that I dislike is how dull the colors come out, and that it won't shoot when it's too dark (i don't mind dark pictures with only a little bit of light, sometimes you just want that).

  5. Compact recommendation – Alternative to Trip 35 : r ...

And what kind of results are you getting with the Trip 35? (sounds like underexposed) You can find plenty of good options with faster lenses, an f/1.8 lens would get you another 1 1/3 stops and slower shutter speeds. (Olympus 35 SP comes to mind, but there are a ton of good options all in that same general domain).

151.95. See Product. The next Olympus Pen that we think is worth comparing against the Olympus Trip is the Olympus Pen EES-2. The Olympus Pen EES-2 has a 30mm f/2.8 lens and focus settings. These are the same zone focus settings you will find on the Olympus Trip.

  7. Best fixed lens 35mm film cameras - Amateur Photographer

Olympus Trip, one of the world’s most successful cameras. Photo credit: John Wade. Among many Olympus fixed lens 35mm cameras, the Trip, from 1967, is probably the best known. Set the aperture ring to ‘A’ and the selenium cell meter around the lens automates apertures of f/2.8-f/22 with two shutter speeds of 1/40sec and 1/200sec.

  8. Olympus 35RC - A Travelling Review - By Andy Larner - 35mmc

The Olympus RC35 is a fully manual rangefinder of a similar size to the iconic Olympus 35 Trip but with more control for the photographer. It weighs: 415grams and it’s dimensions are 110 × 70 × 50 millimeters. For something so small it’s reassuringly solid! As you can see above it’s tiny compared to the Yashica Lynx.

  9. Olympus Trip 35 Film Camera Review - analog.cafe

GOLD. Olympus Trip 35 is one of the most popular 35mm film cameras ever produced — and for a good reason. Its battery-free light meter is reliable, the lens is surprisingly sharp, the body is nearly pocketable, and the price is right. This review is a deep dive into the world of this small, mighty camera.

  10. Oly travel twins: The Olympus Trip 35 vs the Olympus XA2 in ...

Focusing. Both cameras utilise zone focus: you line up the focus ring with a rough distance guide. The XA2 has three zones and the Trip 35 shows four but both go from a metre to infinity. No clear winner here; The XA2 has a feature where it resets itself to the middle zone each time you close the clamshell.
