Not to be dramatic, but losing a passport or other travel documents can be a huge nightmare while traveling. To safeguard passports, credit cards, and boarding passes, we recommend using a passport wallet to keep everything organized in one spot.

We researched and tested 16 passport wallets in various sizes and materials to recommend options that fit the needs of all types of travelers. We paid close attention to traits like capacity, durability, functionality, and organizational features to ensure smooth travels. Keep reading to find out which ones surpassed our expectations during testing.

Best Overall

Leatherology zip around travel wallet.

  • Capacity 5 /5
  • Ease of Use 5 /5
  • Quality 5 /5

The exterior zipper adds an extra layer of security to keep passports and credit cards safe while traveling.

It might be too large to fit in a smaller purse or sling bag.

Technically, this wallet is for traveling, but we love its sleek and versatile design that works for various uses. While most passport wallets we tested have a snap-closure, this one has a zipper that wraps around the entirety of the wallet to ensure passports, credit cards, cash, and coins remain safely tucked away in transit. The wallet is also very spacious and can easily hold multiple passports, up to eight credit cards, cash, and coins without feeling bulky or cumbersome to carry. There’s even an exterior pocket for storing boarding passes so you don’t have to worry about opening up the wallet. It might be too big to fit in small purses, but the sleek leather look and larger size makes it possible to carry it as a clutch or place into a backpack or tote bag, if needed.

Bellroy RFID Travel Wallet

The wallet easily fits in a back pocket.

The wallet will be bigger if it’s packed full and may not fit then.

Minimalist travelers will appreciate the sleek and simple design of Bellroy’s RFID Travel Wallet. We dubbed it our favorite slim option since it can fit virtually anywhere, including in a back pocket (just be sure to take it out of your pocket before going through security). Made out of a soft and durable leather, it never scuffed or scratched while traveling and it looks premium on the outside. The wallet has pockets for a passport, cash, credit cards, and plane tickets, and we love that there aren’t so many pockets that items get disorganized or lost in the void. The best part is that it opens like a standard wallet so we could quickly grab our passports and credit cards while traveling.

Best for Families

Valante travel document organizer.

  • Ease of Use 4.5 /5

It has pockets for multiple passports, plane tickets, and cash.

The large capacity might be too big for solo travelers.

Family travel can be hectic, so we recommend this spacious wallet that can keep all of your family’s important documents in one safe spot. Designed to store multiple passports, credit cards, plane tickets, and more, there are tons of pockets to place items neatly. There’s even a key leash, two zippered pockets, a pen holder, and two designated slip pockets for boarding passes in the front of the wallet. Because the wallet is on the larger side, we love that it comes with a wrist strap to hold onto it while going through customs or the TSA security line. The size might be too large for solo or minimalist travelers, but it works perfectly for staying organized while traveling in groups.

Best Faux Leather

Melsbrinna waterproof rfid-blocking travel wallet.

The PU leather material feels just as soft and durable as regular leather.

The clear plastic window pockets could scratch over time.

Similar to our overall pick, this passport wallet isn’t made out of genuine leather, but it has the same premium look and feel. Made with layers of PU leather, there is a piece of RFID-blocking fabric sandwiched between the material for extra protection while traveling with chipped documents. This sleek wallet comes with all of the standard pockets for a passport, credit cards, and boarding passes, but there were several other features that made it stand out in testing. We are big fans of the two SIM card slots and two plastic window pockets for extra organization for international travelers. Our only concern is that the plastic might scratch or wear over time, but it depends on how often you use the wallet and care for it.

Best Color Options

Lucrin geneva passport travel wallet.

The sleek and spacious wallet comes in over 21 colors and five leather texture options.

The premium materials come with a higher price.

One of our favorite leather passport wallets we tested, this one from Lucrin impressed us with a variety of color and texture options to please any and all travelers. There are over two dozen color options available and five different leather textures to choose from, including smooth, granulated, square granulated, vegetable tanned, and crocodile patterned. Once you narrow down your desired color and texture, we’re confident travelers will love the luxurious feel of the premium leather and generous capacity of the snap-closure wallet. It features several slip pockets, thirteen credit card slots, and a large zippered pocket for storing smaller items like coins or a pen. While the price is on the higher end, we believe you get what you pay for with this made-to-last passport wallet.

Best Crossbody

Pacsafe rfidsafe v150 rfid-blocking compact organizer.

It comes with a removable strap to keep the wallet attached to your body.

The strap isn’t adjustable.

A lost passport can put a huge damper on a trip, so we recommend the Pacsafe RFID-blocking wallet with a removable crossbody strap for keeping your travel documents attached at the hip (literally). You can wear the strap across your body, on your wrist, or through a belt to ensure the wallet is securely fastened on the go. Besides the ability to wear the wallet as a purse, we love all of the slip and zippered interior pockets for a passport, credit cards, cash, or coins, which will keep you plenty organized. The nylon material is water-resistant with a thick and durable feel, so we expect this wallet will stand the test of time.

Best Budget

Tigari passport and vaccine card holder.

The high-quality materials and functionality of this wallet are unbeatable for the low price.

It feels a bit big to carry around.

If you’re trying to build a luggage capsule for traveling, this budget-friendly passport wallet makes a useful addition for all types of travelers. Although the wallet comes at a lower price, it doesn’t lack durability and quality of materials. The PU faux leather case comes in a variety of neutral and bright colors, and it has sleek embossed wording on the front. The case opens up to reveal tons of organizational features for one passport, four credit cards, two SIM cards, and a slip pocket for cash. All of the pockets make it easy to grab travel documents quickly and the larger case keeps everything safe from damage during transit. The wallet is on the bigger side, so it might not fit in smaller purses, but it should fit in a backpack or personal item without any issues.

Best Organization

Baphity genuine leather passport holder.

There are a variety of slip and zippered pockets available.

The card slots can be tight at first.

This genuine leather passport wallet is the best option for travelers prioritizing organization. Designed to store a passport, vaccine card, cash coins, boarding passes, and SIM cards, the wallet is bursting with pockets to efficiently organize items. After we filled it with travel documents, we were impressed with how slim and compact the wallet remained. The leather material is high-quality and durable, and we think the wallet has an excellent value for the construction and price point. We ran into slight issues with the card slots being a bit tight at first, but the material loosened up with more use, which made it easier to pull the cards in and out quickly.

Best AirTag-compatible

Normest airtag travel wallet.

  • Capacity 4.5 /5

The wallet has a designated pocket for storing an Apple AirTag for tracking and locating.

It has a smaller capacity.

Tracking devices can be a game-changer if your luggage gets lost, so we recommend this AirTag-compatible wallet. While the AirTag is sold separately, the wallet does come with a secure slot on the outside to discreetly store the tracking device. The genuine leather material is sleek and soft, and the wallet has a slim design that makes it easy to place it in a back pocket or small bag. It can fit a passport, three credit cards, and some cash before running out of room, so if you’re looking for a spacious wallet, this isn’t the best option. However, sometimes it’s better to be safe than sorry, so this is a great option for AirTag enthusiasts.

Other Passport Wallets We Liked

There were several passport wallets that almost made our list of winners, but we ran into some slight issues during testing.

Royce Vaccine Card and Passport Wallet : The wallet has a simple and functional design, but the price is fairly high for the smaller capacity and lack of extra organizational features.

Walnew AirTag Passport Holder : It has plenty of room to fit all necessary travel documents and it comes with an AirTag leash, but we liked that the other tracking device-compatible wallet we tried holds the tracker more discreetly.

We researched and selected 16 passport wallets to test out while traveling and in everyday scenarios. From busy TSA security lines to shopping and sightseeing, we made sure the best wallets make it easy to pull out passports, credit cards, IDs, and cash when you’re in a hurry. We paid close attention to the capacity and noted how efficient the organizational features are for storing essential travel documents. Since travel can take a toll on luggage and accessories, we judged the overall quality of the materials and stitchwork to gauge the longevity of each wallet.

Tips for Buying a Passport Wallet

Check the dimensions of the wallet.

Passports from around the world feature the same design and size, but you’ll still want to make sure a passport wallet fits your size needs. Some wallets are designed to just be slightly larger than a passport and others will be large enough to fit the length of a boarding pass. It depends on the space you’ll have in a bag, pocket, or backpack, so you’ll want to consider how to store the wallet while traveling before making the purchase.

Decide how many compartments you need

Passport wallets are typically designed to hold a passport and a few credit cards, but some are equipped with more organizational features. The bigger the wallet, the more room and storage options there will be for multiple passports, credit cards, cash, and boarding passes. Extra features to look for include interior zippered pockets for coins, SIM card holders, and plastic window sleeves for IDs or vaccine cards.

Look for additional security features

Sometimes it’s better to be safe than sorry, so you may want to consider getting a passport wallet with an AirTag holder (AirTags are usually sold separately) to track the wallet in case it goes missing. Other security measures can include a wrap-around zipper to ensure passports and credit cards are secure and layers of RFID-blocking fabric to prevent cyber pick-pocketing.

Security and customs lines can be stressful, so it’s important to have your passport and other necessary documents out of any wallets or cases and ready to go. This will save time and make it easier to hand the documents over to an agent to speed up the process and eliminate unnecessary stress while traveling.

Radio frequency identification or RFID is technology commonly used in credit cards and passports to locate information and data quickly. It is possible to steal data from RFID documents, but there are some passport wallets with a fabric layer to block radio waves from transmitting. Although it’s uncommon for data to be stolen via RFID, the layer of fabric offers extra security and is designed to prevent criminals from taking information while traveling.

The style experts and travel enthusiasts at the Good Housekeeping Institute test all types of travel gear , from the most comfortable travel shoes to top-rated suitcases , packing cubes and more. When selecting the best passport holders, we reviewed popular picks online for features like materials, number of card pockets and design. According to our travel pros, these are the best passport holders to bring with you on your next flight.

Stylish, affordable and available in tons of fun colors , you don't want to forget this chic passport holder on your next trip. Not only is it under $10, but we love that it has enough room for your passport as well as a few credit cards and a small pen. It even features a handy snap button closure to keep everything together as you race through the airport. Just keep in mind that it's made of PU leather (or faux leather), which helps keep the cost so low.

Leave your wallet back at home and bring this travel wallet on your next vacation instead. In addition to its great price, it’s made of a super lightweight, waterproof nylon material and comes with enough slots for multiple passports, credit cards, IDs, zippered pockets for coins and a removable keychain. It’s also available in lots of colors so you can choose the one that suits your style. According to the brand, it features RFID-blocking to prevent thieves from stealing your personal information.

TUMI is known for its high-quality luggage and travel backpacks , and you should expect no less from this leather passport case. Unlike other picks on this list, it features a zipper so travel essentials will remain fully protected inside , and there’s room for six cards as well as some cash, an ID and more. While colors are limited, we like that it comes in a classic black, a pretty rose and a fun moonlight ombre shade.

There’s nothing worse than being stuck in a foreign destination because you can’t find your passport, which is why our pros think all families should own this family-sized passport holder. It’s made of water-resistant polyester to keep documents safe, and it has enough room for six passports as well as plane tickets, cash and even a phone ! That’s 21 pockets total, and everything in one place. It also comes with a wristlet and cross-body straps so you can have it on you at all times.

Away carry-ons are a favorite among our Lab experts, so why not get a matching passport wallet from the brand? Though the four color options are a bit limited, we like the leather look and that you can customize it with your initials . We also appreciate that each wallet features an exterior slip pocket that makes it easy to access your passport as you reach security, as well as four card slots for IDs, credit cards and more.

We’re obsessed with this inconspicuous, versatile passport holder that looks like an envelope . Available in several classic shades and made of full-grain leather, you can squeeze both your passport and your travel partner's documents inside. You can also keep using it after your trip to store postcards you brought back, receipts and other loose paper. We love that it features a hidden snap in the front so everything stays together, and that the envelope is more expandable than other passport holders.

Simple yet stylish, this passport holder comes in lovely shades of green, pink or gold so you can easily find it in your purse . While the leather design means it’s a bit more expensive, our travel enthusiasts love the “passport” print on the front and appreciate that it doesn’t include slip pockets like other travel wallets — that way, you can keep using your original wallet and leave your passport back at the hotel.

Just looking at the cute print of this passport holder makes our editors want to hop on a plane. Featuring designs of the Eiffel Tower, Statue of Liberty and other famous destinations around the globe, it has enough room to protect your passport and plane tickets thanks to two slip pockets. Plus, you can get this matching luggage tag along with it.

For those who have a case of the travel bug or serious wanderlust, this passport holder is a must. For under $20, you can choose among several travel-themed prints and designs . Each holder comes with a book pocket for your passport, two credit card slots and space for your boarding pass. We appreciate its slim look that has just enough room for essentials without feeling too bulky.

RFID-blocking helps protect documents like your passport or credit card from being read and duplicated by thieves , which is just one reason why you should invest in this RFID-blocking wallet from Bellroy. It has space for your passport along with four easy-to-access card slots (plus three more) and a hidden slip for cash. There’s even a spot to store international SIM cards and ejector pins. We love that it’s made of high-quality leather, making it a great wallet to use during business travel, vacations and even back home.

We found travel wallets that are great for navigating old cities around the clock, and travel wallets that can handle all sorts of rugged adventures. We curated all our travel wallets with durability and design in mind, but we also considered features that make each wallet unique in and of its own. The one quality you'll find in each travel wallet? They all are sized to hold an American passport nice and snug. After all, it wouldn't be a travel wallet if it didn't hold your most important papers.

Best AirTag Wallets | Best Card Holder Wallets | Best Slim Wallets | Best Magsafe Wallets | Best Travel Gadgets

Pioneer's Passport Wallet is wonderfully simple in design and tough as nails thanks to its waterproof ripstop fabric construction. In fact, we found the waterproof ripstop fabric is great for handling humid environments, staying dry and and stiff, as opposed to getting all slimy and flimsy as other travel wallets can become in these climates. As far as stroage goes, it comes with a full length cash pocket, pockets to store up to 8 cards, and a 3D molded passport pocket designed to fit an American passport perfectly snug.

Due to this wallet's construction. look, and function, we found it to be our favorite pick when taking to warm weather vacation and cold weather trips. The material is simply just too good, and you never have to worry about any of the contents sliding out. Simply put, the Pioneer Passport Wallet is capable of all kinds of trips and adventures. This is a quality investment we'd recommend over and over again.

Bellroy makes several great travel wallets, but the wallet we found most like the wallet you probably already carry is the bifold Travel Wallet. It's got a fine all leather make and will hold a passport, cash, train tickets, and up to 10 cards. What's cool is the wallet comes with a micro pen that hangs inside the wallet's spine, which we found to be useful when wanting to write down recommendations of places to visit from friends and other travelers.

Looks can be deceiving due to the wallet's traditional bifold design. It measures 3.8-inches tall by 6-inches wide, so it is big. Overall we find it to be a great minimalist travel wallet with a classic style that blends in nicely in all environments.

This reasonably priced wallet from Fjallraven is made with a durable waxed waterproof canvas and a YKK zippered closure to protect all your documents and cards from the elements. Inside are 5 card pockets, 2 cash pockets, and 1 zippered coin pouch. Looking for the passport pocket? That would be behind the coin pouch—it's a nice and discrete design note, we know.

If you're looking for a rugged wallet with waterproofing and protection but don't want to pay over $100, this is a solid option. Fjallraven fans will see this wallet has the same quality construction like the brand's other gear, which is a great sign because the maker is one of the best valued outdoor brands out there.

The design of a good AirTag wallet is still being perfected, but that doesn't mean we don't like what's already on the market. If you're looking for a travel wallet you can store your AirTag in, this one from Lumberjack Plaid is our latest favorite.

It comes in a sleek and stylish leather (3 colors available) and features a passport pocket, a long pocket for tickets and cash, and 3 card slots. You get all this for $40, which is an excellent value for such a quality wallet. Just be aware the leather can show scratches pretty easily; most notably on the dark leather.

Made to fall in line with all your other Tumi luggage, the Passport Case comes in a sleek, all-black look with more interior space than one might think. We're talking a passport pocket, a billfold compartment, an ID window, 2 slip pockets, and 8 card pockets. You get the best of both worlds with this wallet: great style and high functionality. Well done Tumi, well done.

We get it, many of us aren't jet-setting out of the U.S. several times in a year. Nonetheless it's important to have a passport wallet even if you're only getting out of the country once in a blue moon. For overseas trips that are few and far between, this RFID-blocking leather travel passport case for under $30 on Amazon will do the job. It will also give off style points, as the leather has a nice rich look to it that holds up well when used sparingly.

Due to the stitching and overall quality of the materials we'd say this wallet might not be suitable for high levels of use. But because it carries a high durability and functionality for the price, we recommend it as a great travel wallet for those who might need to take a passport with them only once or twice in a year.

If you want to go with a more secure wallet, this thin travel pouch can be strapped around the waist and hold your passport, cash, cards, and more. The pouch itself has RFID tech built-in so you get another level of safety. Plus the pouch is made from water-resistant ripstop, so you won't have to worry about any of your items getting soaked from rain.

One note to point out is even though the price point of this belt is incredibly good, we believe the thin fabric could wear down faster over time than some of the other wallets on this list.

The Apex wallet is made with fine leather that's heat bonded instead of being stitched. The result is a unique design that, when closed, fully encases the inner contents of the wallet from the outside elements. The Apex will hold a passport, cash, and 2-4 cards. And just like the Travel Wallet, you get a small micro pen that can be stored inside on the wallet's spine.

Handcrafted from USA heritage leather, Shinola's Utility Passport Wallet is truly made to age like fine wine. When opening up the wallet, one side contains a passport pocket while the other has 5 faille-lined pockets for your cards. It's not the most feature-loaded travel wallet on this list, and it's certainly not the cheapest, but if you're looking for something simple and timeless then this is the one.

You're not going to find another travel wallet like this one, and that's the point. Texas boot-maker Tecovas went and took the same authentic American alligator leather it uses for its boots and crafted the material into a passport case. The result is a one-of-a-kind piece with a passport pocket and 4 exterior card pockets. What's cool is you can even monogram it.

Of course the price point on this wallet is almost like buying a luxury good, but really the only qualm we have with the wallet is its availability. Sometimes it's popularity gets the best of it, and so you might have to turn to the Ostrich Passport Case or the original Passport Case —two excellent alternatives, no less.

Malbon Golf Yacht Club Passport Holder

Yacht Club Passport Holder

The streetwear-inspired golf brand Malbon Golf has been turning out tons of cool pieces this year. One of its products that has flown under-the-radar is this pebbled leather passport holder. We were surprised to open it up and see tons of card space to go with the passport pocket. And as far as style goes, it comes with cool embossments on the front and inner pocket and is available in three colors.

Tanner Goods Leather Passport Travel Wallet

Leather Passport Travel Wallet

If you liked the full leather of the Shinola travel wallet but wished it had a different interior configuration, then this travel wallet from Tanner Goods is a great alternative. Inside is a passport pocket with a small card pocket on top of the passport flap, plus two additional card slots on the other side.

The wallet might not hold a lot, but if you want a minimalist leather wallet with great style and a thin silhouette, then you'll be happy with this choice.

Zero Grid Travel Wallet Passport Holder

Travel Wallet Passport Holder

Similar to the belted travel wallet we featured earlier, this passport holder can be used as a sling bag and is made with waterproof ripstop and covered with RFID blocking material. What's cool is it zips shut, closing in the passport and up to 10 cards that can fit on the inside. You also get a small stylus that you can hang on the wallet's spine.

line

Buying a quality travel wallet is going to look a lot like buying your everyday wallet, but the two are not the same. Here's what you need to know.

  • Durability: Making sure your travel wallet is tough and made of good materials is of utmost importance. After all, this is your last line of defense to your passport—the most important document you need when traveling overseas. This prior notion is why we loved reviewing travel wallets made from tear-resistant and water-resistant materials (like the Pioneer Travel Wallet). Premium leather is also a good material to protect your passport, as the leather provides a thick layer to keep moisture and dust from getting to your papers.
  • Security Features: Some travel wallets comes with RFID (radio-frequency identification) lining to help prevent RFID theft. It's true this type of crime doesn't happen a lot, but it is possible, and so buying a travel wallet with RFID lining does add a level of security to your essentials. Another security feature to look for are zippered or snap closures that help keep your passport and cards sealed off. We like these closures because it helps limit the chances of any items accidentally falling out when traveling—which happens more than one might think.
  • AirTag Tracking: Although we only have one AirTag travel wallet we like right now, we anticipate more of these types of wallets to hit the market in the coming year. AirTag wallets have become a huge hit thanks to their tracking abilities, and so any travel wallet that can incorporate an AirTag in a slimming and discrete way should be considered on your shortlist of what travel wallets to buy.

Can You Use a Passport Covers as A Wallet?

commerce breaker

Travel wallets, also sometimes referred to as passport wallets, are the best possible choice for carrying your passport and your cash and cards. Travel wallets are not to be confused with passport covers, which are simply covers you can slide over your passport to add a level of protection.

Passport covers do theoretically have space where you could slide some cash plus 1-2 cards inside, but those spaces oftentimes make your valuables prone to falling out. A passport cover is not designed to hold anything more than a passport, and so whatever else you put in there is going to be like trying to fit a square peg into a round hole. Stick to a travel wallets for cash, card, and passport carry.

Why Trust Us

commerce breaker

In order to keep up with new new designs and releases, the MH tech and gear team is continually testing all of the latest everyday carry accessories to make sure our recommendations reflect the top products within each space.

When it comes to travel wallets, we acquire and call in the latest releases to test, and then we take them out into the real world. At any given point, writers and editors in our office are traveling, and so we plan accordingly whenever we are going to be up in the air to take one or two travel wallets with us to see how they perform. Lastly, we take a hands-on look at the travel wallets up close. We inspect everything from the material to the build of the wallet to determine it's durability and whether or not the price point reflects the overall quality.

How We Selected

line

Our MH commerce team thoroughly researched and tested dozens of the best travel wallets, from budget to designer to premium, gift-worthy models. We noted everything from how snug the wallet fit an American passport to how the interior card slots were organized. We also considered fabric quality (especially when it came to leather) and price. The list above represents our honest picks for the best travel wallets of 2023.

If you'd prefer to secure your passport on your person, try a slim pouch that you can wear around your neck. The Venture 4th Travel Neck Pouch with RFID Blocking ($17.95) is a popular choice that comes in six colors: beige, black, brown, gray, green and silver. Weighing a little more than 2.5 ounces, this passport organizer won't be in your way as you race through the airport. The top flap opens to a roomy interior where you can store passports, a smartphone, tickets and more. The soft strap has a toggle so you can make it longer or shorter, depending on how you want to wear it on your body. The Hero Neck Wallet ($19.95), which is also an RFID-blocking passport holder, is a bit more masculine in black and army gray than similar products, but it also comes in a nice beige and ash gray. This option forgoes a top flap and, instead, all of the compartments have horizontal zipper closures. The front is made of water-resistant ripstop nylon while the back is designed with breathable mesh. The four zippered sections can hold passports, a smartphone, credit cards, cash and more.

Water-resistant option

The interior wallet has room to store cash on one side and it can be zippered up for security. An exterior zippered pocket can store tickets or something as large as an iPhone Xs Max. The organizer is made of water-resistant rip-stop nylon.

Right about now, you may appreciate the sentiment emblazoned on the front of this Lovie Style Passport Holder with Zipper Closure ($13.99): It proudly says, "Take me anywhere." While this version is a coral blush color, there are other designs in this line in black, cerulean, cognac, cool gray, gray, green and white. While this is a billfold-style wallet, it zippers up for added security. Your passport tucks into the right side pocket while you can store two credit cards, cash and tickets in the left pocket.

With an elastic band or snap

Casmonal passport holder cover wallet.

Some travelers want the lightest, easiest passport wallet, and the Casmonal Passport Holder Cover Wallet ($9.99) is simplicity itself. Made of leather, the billfold has an elastic band that keeps it shut when it's in your bag or hand. The phrase "And so the adventure begins" is embossed on the front. Pick from more than a dozen colors, such as black, classic blue, navy blue, red, coffee and stone. Be sure to pick the listing that comes with two luggage tags for free.

Pascacoo Passport Holder

If you prefer a more straightforward billfold-style passport wallet with an elastic closure, look to the Pasacoo Passport Holder ($9.99), which mimics the face of a U.S.-issued passport embossed on its front. It's made of eco-friendly synthetic "leather" and has an RFID-blocking shield to protect the personal information stored on your credit card and passport magnetic strips. The right pocket holds your passport and, on the left, you can store a few credit cards, cash and tickets. There are even two small pouches for camera chips or other small items.

Borgasets Genuine Leather Passport Cover Case

The Borgasets Genuine Leather Passport Cover Case ($13.95) is another simple billfold design with a snap closure. We adore the small airplane emblem on the front cover. You can store three credit cards, some cash or tickets as well as your passport in this wallet that comes in a ton of colors, from black to green to purple to orange and more.

These Passport Holders Get Our Stamp Of Approval

Your passport to organized travel.

by Emma Treagus Published on February 8, 2024

At Luxe Digital, we independently research, review, and recommend products we love and that we think you will love, too. Learn more about how we curate the best products for you .

Whether you’re a seasoned jet setter or a first-time flier, travel anxiety is real. It’s packing a week in advance. It’s setting your alarm five times, just in case you sleep through the first four. And it’s power walking through the airport even though you’re three hours early.

While we can’t promise that a passport holder will get you to the boarding gate on time, we do believe that the right one has the uncanny ability to alleviate some of the stress we feel while queuing to go through security.

What do we mean by the right one?

The best passport holders are organized and compartmentalized. They’re easily accessible and fumble-free. They’ve added extra security measures so that you don’t have to worry about digital scammers. They’re lightweight and comfortable to carry. And, of course, they’re a stylish addition to your snug travel set.

Crossing borders and clearing customs, we’ve gone the extra mile to unearth the brands that we believe will go places (literally and figuratively speaking.)

Here are our top passport holders—the ones that received our much sought-after stamp of approval.

Why you can trust Luxe Digital? As travel enthusiasts and frequent flyers ourselves, we know a thing or two about luxury travel .

As a digital nomad, I’ve personally tried dozens of the most popular passport holders, paying close attention to organizational features, security, and design.

For more on how we tested our best passport holders, see our buyer’s guide at the end of this article. And for more on how we test products in general, see our  HAPPY philosophy for buying luxuries.

The 9 Best Passport Holders

Vaultskin kensington passport holder.

best passport holders vaultskin kensington passport holder - Luxe Digital

In our opinion, the Vaultskin Kensington passport is one of the most sophisticated, stealthiest passport holders. It’s sleek and slender, taking up very little of our precious packing space, while still making room for all the essentials. And it features enhanced RFID-blocking technologies—for us, an essential to a worry-free experience.

Crafted from premium, durable leather, the RFID passport holder is designed to outlast countless excursions. Plus, the Vaultskin Kensington is the kind of elegant travel accessory that we’re proud to whip out at the boarding gate.

Best for: Crossing borders with extra security.

Cuyana Pebbled Passport Case

best passport holders cuyana pebbled passport case - Luxe Digital

Like everything from Cuyana that we own and love, this is a gorgeous leather passport holder that we’re proud to display. Minimalist yet luxurious, the simple design speaks to our commitment to buying fewer, better things. While the quality and durability of the travel accessory are evident in its impeccable stitching and careful attention to detail.

Made from sustainable Italian leather, the Cuyana Passport Case is the perfect gift for seasoned travelers. It even comes with the option for personalized monogramming—a sentimental detail that we seldom can resist.

Best for: Making essentials decadent.

Vincero The Passport Wallet

best passport holders vincero the passport wallet - Luxe Digital

You might recognise Vincero for their affordable watches (we told you all about them in our Vincero watches review ), however did you know that the brand also makes some seriously good accessories too? If you’re a traveler who prefers to keep all your cards and documents in one place, the Vincero Passport Wallet is the perfect accessory. With smaller slots for cards, cash and boarding passes and a bigger sleeve for the passport, you won’t have to worry about keeping track of a wallet and passport holder while on the move.

While it’s often considered the best passport holder for men, we can’t see why women wouldn’t appreciate the minimalist Vincero Passport Wallet just as much.

Best for: A multifunctional all-in-one travel accessory.

Bellroy Travel Folio

best passport holders bellroy travel folio - Luxe Digital

Multifunctional with many additional features, the Bellroy Travel Folio is a testament to the brand’s innovative approach to seamless travel.

The first thing we noticed was that the passport cover had effective RFID protection, alleviating the stress of digital scamming. We also appreciated the smaller details, such as SIM and ejector pin storage, as well as a micro pen. These may seem like tiny details, but they really do make all the difference when arriving in a new country after a sleepless night.

Made from eco-tanned leather, the Bellroy Travel Folio is also sleek, organized and sustainable, making it the perfect gift for eco-conscious travelers.

Best for: Preventing tired mishaps.

Harber London Passport Wallet

best passport holders harber london passport wallet - Luxe Digital

As big advocates of the British brand, we love all the things Harber London , including the brand’s gorgeous designer passport holder. Handcrafted from full-grain leather, the sophisticated travel accessory reflects the level of care and attention to detail that goes into every Harber London product.

Looks aside, the Harber London Passport Wallet is also one of the most practical accessories we tried. RFID-blocking technology provides peace of mind against data theft. The magnetic closure keeps documents secure but easily accessible. And the cardholder design means that you don’t have to carry an additional wallet.

Best for: Fashion meets functionality.

Away Passport Wallet

best passport holders away passport wallet - Luxe Digital

When packing for a big trip, it’s easy to get carried away. Which is why we love a sleek leather passport holder to keep us in check, such as this one by Away .

With just enough room for the essentials, the travel wallet has four card slots, a cash and boarding pass slip, as well as a passport compartment. The minimalist design is slender enough to fit into our back pocket. And we love that the Away Passport Wallet comes in four unique colorways—one for every member of the family.

Best for: Sticking to the essentials.

Beis The Passport Luggage Tag Set

best passport holders beis the passport luggage tag set - Luxe Digital

The Beis The Passport Luggage Tag Set is a game-changer for seamless travel coordination. This unique combo of a passport holder and a luggage tag set is designed to solve all travel complications. The set even comes in a transparent zip bag, perfect for sailing liquids through security.

The travel document holder is thoughtfully sized with essential slots, doubling up as a travel wallet. And we love that everything matches.

This Beis set makes us feel totally put together, even when catching an early flight.

Best for: Providing everything you need and more.

Dagne Dover Travel Accordion

best passport holders dagne dover travel accordion - Luxe Digital

The Dagne Dover Travel Accordion is stylish enough to resemble a beautiful leather purse, but it comes with the addition of a quintessential passport slot. That being said, it is slightly bulkier than some of the other passport holders, but because we use it as our everyday travel wallet, we kind of like that it fits seven cards.

Made from sustainably sourced pebbled leather and recycled reprieve lining, the Dagne Dover Travel Accordion is the perfect gift for eco-chic travelers. We also appreciate that the magnetic closure makes travel documents readily available, so as not to delay the boarding queue.

Learn more about Dagne Dover in our dedicated brand story.

Best for: Leaving nothing behind.

Senreve Passport Holder

best passport holders senreve passport holder - Luxe Digital

As expected, this designer passport holder by Senerve is a little more expensive than the others on our list. But if you’re looking to really treat yourself, you don’t get a more decadent travel accessory.

Made in Italy from premium leather, the timeless passport holder is scratch; stain; and water-resistant. The micro-suede interior is incredibly soft, featuring four main compartments for cards, cash, boarding passes—and, of course, our passport.

The Senreve passport holder is the kind of accessory you keep for a lifetime, so in our opinion, it’s totally worth it.

Best for: Your passport to a lifetime of adventure.

Buyer’s guide: Choosing the right passport holder

Selecting the perfect passport holder for your travels can be an essential part of your trip planning. With a variety of styles, types, and features available, this guide aims to help you navigate your choices.

Organization: Passport holders are designed to keep your travel documents, such as passports, boarding passes, and visas, in one convenient location. This organization is invaluable in reducing stress during travel, as it ensures all your essential documents are easily accessible.

Protection from wear and tear: Regular travel can quickly wear down important documents. A passport holder offers a protective layer, safeguarding these documents from damage due to spills, tears, or creases.

Style: Beyond functionality, passport holders come in a variety of styles, colors, and materials. Choosing a holder that matches your personal style can add a fun touch to your travel ensemble.

Extra step: Adding a passport holder to your travel routine means one more item to remember. For minimalist travelers, this extra piece might feel like an unnecessary complication.

Extra bulk: Passport holders, depending on their design, can add extra bulk to your carry-on. If you prefer to travel light, consider the size and weight of the holder.

Passport wallet: A passport wallet is a comprehensive option, often equipped with multiple compartments for storing cards, cash, and other small items alongside your passport. Ideal for those who want everything in one place.

Passport sleeve: Sleeves are slim and lightweight, designed to encase just the passport. This type is perfect for travelers who prefer minimalism and want to protect their passport without added bulk.

Passport pouch: A pouch is a larger option that can be worn around the neck or on the belt, providing easy access to your documents. It’s a good choice for those who want to keep their documents secure but readily accessible.

Organization: Look for a passport holder with adequate compartments and slots tailored to your specific needs. Some come with dedicated spaces for boarding passes, currency, and other travel essentials.

Security: With the rise in electronic theft, a passport holder with RFID-blocking technology is a wise choice. This feature prevents unauthorized scanning of your digital information.

Material: The durability and appearance of your passport holder depend significantly on the material. Leather offers a classic, durable choice, while synthetic materials can provide water resistance and a more casual look.

Size and portability: Consider how the holder fits into your overall travel gear. A compact, lightweight holder is easier to carry, especially for those who pack light.

Closure mechanism: The type of closure (zipper, snap, magnetic) can affect both the security and ease of access to your documents.

Frequently asked questions about passport holders

Passport wallets are highly useful for travelers. They offer a secure and organized way to carry essential travel documents, like passports, boarding passes, and currencies. Their compact design and protective features safeguard these items from damage and theft.

The best travel document holder balances functionality and style. It should be durable, with multiple compartments for passports, tickets, and cards. RFID-blocking technology is a plus for security against electronic theft.

In recent years, the paperwork required to jet from one country to another has increased dramatically, whether it’s paperwork relating to tests and vaccinations or additional visas.

Luckily, some of our favourite travel accessory brands have risen to the challenge, producing fantastic travel wallets that not only have room for all the essentials, but look incredibly stylish and reduce the risk of identity fraud, too.

We strongly recommend opting for RFID (radio-frequency identification) wallets, which use nickel and copper-coated material (usually polyester) to reduce the risk of identity fraud, by blocking the electromagnetic signals emitted from your bank cards.

Take the time to think about what you’re going to be using your wallet for – if you’re going to fill it to capacity, we’d recommend opting for a zip closure, but if easy access is a priority, don’t write off the humble magnet or press-stud closure.

We’re also huge fans of wallets that have clamshell openings – ones that open fully, like a book, rather than requiring you to extract your essentials through tiny openings.

How we tested.

Our recent trips involved a lot of paperwork (including visas, proof of negative Covid tests and currency in various denominations) as well as essentials such as our passport (obviously), boarding passes and bank cards. We had plenty of opportunities to put these wallets to the test during these trips, whether it was before we’d even entered the airport (in India, a recent destination, all passengers must produce airplane tickets before being allowed into the terminal) or at visa checkpoints. In a nutshell? We truly put these wallets through their paces, and they all passed with flying colours. That said, certain ones have been clearly designed with specific additional purposes in mind, which is why we’ve highlighted the areas in which they excel below. Happy travels!

The best travel wallets for 2023 are:

  • Best overall – Ted Baker safar art print travel wallet: £75, Tedbaker.com
  • Best compact travel wallet – Jack Wolfskin cashbag wallet: £32, Jack-wolfskin.co.uk
  • Best for simplicity – Keela travel ID wallet: £24.95, Keelaoutdoors.com
  • Best large travel wallet – House of Disaster animal-print travel wallet: £29.99, Houseofdisaster.com
  • Best RFID wallet – Go Travel RFID organiser: £19.99, Go.travel

Ted Baker safar art print travel wallet

best travel wallet

  • Best : Overall
  • Material : Shell: 100 per cent polyurethane; lining: 100 per cent cotton

First things first – yes, this wallet is larger than most, but it’s surprisingly slim, and every millimetre of space has been put to good use. In other words, it’s large enough to hold all the essentials for a trip abroad – passports, paperwork, medical certificates and currency – but compact enough to prevent it being cumbersome.

It’s also one of the most stylish travel wallets we’ve come across, thanks to the abstract floral design featured on its hard-wearing (but surprisingly leather-like) polyurethane exterior.

An internal, removeable card holder, a wide zippered purse and plentiful pockets meant there was more than enough room for our various travel accoutrements, and we were impressed by the ultra-strong magnetic closure.

Lifeventure RFID mini travel wallet

best travel wallet

  • Best : For bells and whistles
  • Material : Nickel- and copper-coated polyester

This wallet has seven card pockets, including one covered by transparent plastic. Our advice? Use this one to stash ID cards, such as a driver’s licence – you can flash it without having to remove it from the wallet.

Larger slip pockets – placed beneath the smaller ones – are ideal for boarding passes and passports, and we used the pocket made from mesh to stash our iPhone. It’s another RFID wallet, which relies on nickel- and copper-coated polyester fabric to reduce the risk of identity theft.

Call us fickle but we loved the choice of four colourways, too (we recommend the merlot-red “plum” hue).

Fjällräven kånken travel wallet

best travel wallet

  • Best : For easy access
  • Material : 65 per cent polyester, 35 per cent cotton

How Fjällräven managed to squeeze so many pockets into such a compact wallet, we’ll never know. We had plenty of room for our passport, vaccination documentation and foreign currency, which we placed inside the wallet, while we kept our boarding passes in the extra-wide exterior pocket on the wallet’s rear.

There’s an incredible sense of toughness to the kånken (thanks, partly, to the water-resistant G-1000 fabric), and we loved how the concertina-like strip of material between the wallet’s two halves meant we could open the wallet fully – no fumbling around through narrow openings to extricate essential documents.

Keela travel ID wallet

best travel wallet

  • Best : For simplicity
  • Material : Unspecified

To begin with, we were sceptical about the simplicity of this wallet but we’re now total converts. In recent years, partly because of the extra documentation required for travel (whether it’s vaccination paperwork or visa forms, much of which isn’t required to check in for a flight) we’ve taken to carrying our passport in a separate wallet, simply so we can produce it without riffling through irrelevant paperwork. Our top tip? Before entering the airport, place your boarding pass and passport in this transparent wallet (which slips neatly under jackets or T-shirts) and simply whip them out as and when required.

Jack Wolfskin cashbag wallet

best travel wallets

  • Best : Compact travel wallet
  • Material : Shell: 100 per cent polyamide; lining: 100 per cent polyester

We love the name of this RFID wallet – if only because it brings to mind an accessory stuffed with thick wads of cash. That wasn’t the case where we were concerned, to be clear, although we did find the extra-wide pocket useful for quickly stashing a wad of 1,000 Indian Rupees (don’t get excited – this equates to just £9.89).

It’s one of the smallest travel wallets in our selection, but that’s precisely why we love it – although it might not be large enough for your passport, it’s got more than enough room for currency, boarding passes and paperwork, and its size means it slips easily into the smallest of pockets.

Katie Loxton travel wallet

best travel wallets

  • Best : For style
  • Material : Polyurethane

This is definitely one of the simpler travel wallets, but it’s perfect for the essentials – we used it for our passport and boarding passes, which were kept secure courtesy of the press-stud fastening. Subtle gold accents – namely the press stud and the lettering spelling out ‘Yay for vacay’ – earns extra points in the style stakes, and there are options to have the wallet personalised, too. We were seriously impressed to find that it was made from PU (polyurethane), given its leather-like feel.

Go Travel RFID organiser

best travel wallets

  • Best : RFID wallet
  • Material : Polyester

Identity theft is no longer an invisible threat that brands merely use to convince us to part with extra cash. Well, some brands might still take this approach, but Go Travel, which is known for its top-quality RFID travel wallets, definitely isn’t one of them, and this wallet is a case in point. Despite its slimline design, it’s stuffed with pockets, to hold everything from passports (our rigorous testing proved that there was more than enough room for four) to boarding passes, which we placed in the extra-wide pockets beneath the ones designed to hold passports. Unlike with similar products, the RFID tech has added minimal bulk, and its clamshell design, with zips that opened on three sides of each half of the wallet, meant refreshingly easy access to the contents.

House of Disaster animal-print travel wallet

best travel wallet

  • Best : Large travel wallet
  • Material : Vegan-friendly ‘leather’, faux dalmation fur, cotton lining

We were instantly smitten with the flash of pink (courtesy of the strap) against the monochrome animal print, but the interior of this wallet was just as impressive. A zippered pocket was perfect for stashing loose change, while we used the shallow card pockets for hotel room keys and business cards. The highlight, however, was the main compartment, with its four dividers, clearly labelled (in chic gold font, nonetheless) to indicate separate pockets for passports, tickets, documents and ‘other’. Full disclosure, we were initially concerned by its larger size, but a trip to India, which involved multiple internal flights (read: lots of tickets), visas and vaccination documentation meant we easily filled this particular wallet.

The verdict: Travel wallets

We’ll be honest – we’d book a holiday just for the opportunity to show off Ted Baker’s safar art print travel wallet , which is an absolute essential for stylish jet-setters who like to keep all their travel essentials in one place. Fjällräven’s kånken travel wallet is a sturdy, stylish piece of kit that stands up to serious amounts of wear and tear, while Lifeventure’s RFID travel wallet is a great example of a product that proves opting for extra security doesn’t require going down the supersized route.

Full Review

If you prefer all of your boarding passes, passport(s), cards, cash, SIM cards, and the rest of your travel documents to be strewn about your backpack, pockets, and wherever else in a chaotic mess then you’re not going to like the Bellroy Travel Wallet.

Bellroy Travel Wallet Flat Lay

But if you prefer to keep all of the above organized and handy in a sleek, sophisticated package then you’ll love to meet the Bellroy Travel Wallet. We’ve certainly been excited to get our hands on it. After all, we’ve tested several Bellroy products here at Pack Hacker with, mostly, good results.

So how has the Bellroy Travel Wallet performed these past few weeks of testing? Read on.

Materials & Aesthetic

Bellroy’s take on the Travel Wallet is one of the more sophisticated, professional-looking travel wallets we’ve tested to date. Seriously—it’s perfect for business travel or if you want to give off a classy vibe. We’re digging the premium stitching along the perimeter, the debossed Bellroy name on the exterior, and owl logo on the interior.

Bellroy Travel Wallet Logo And Leather

At the time of this review, it’s available in four colorways: Black, Navy, Caramel, and Cocoa. We’ve been testing the Black, but all four colorways look sleek.

Of course, the Travel Wallet being a travel wallet —and thus designed to fit a passport—is larger than your standard bifold. But it’s still slim and, while it won’t comfortably fit in most pants’ pockets, it’ll fit inside the quick-grab pockets on sling bags and backpacks.

The Bellroy Travel Wallet is made of premium leather, which is no surprise coming from a company known for its quality, supple leather that feels oh-so-good in the hands. An added perk is that Bellroy only uses leather that’s been tanned under gold-rated Leather Working Group environmental protocols.

We’ve tested several Bellroy products and have always had good experiences with its leather. That said, we’ve noticed a few aesthetic blemishes on the Travel Wallet’s leather, which we’ll discuss more in the Durability & Testing section of this review.

Inside the Wallet

There’s a fair amount of stuff going on behind the wallet’s sleek, minimalist exterior.

Bellroy Travel Wallet Passport Holder

The wallet opens up like a traditional bi-fold. On the right, you’ll see the passport pocket. We really like the way the folks at Bellroy have integrated this pocket—it keeps your passport safe and secure, especially because the opening is oriented toward the interior of the wallet, so there’s no risk of your passport sliding out. At the same time, it’s also quick and easy to whip out your passport when need be.

Bellroy Travel Wallet Passport In The Cash Sleeve

You can’t slide two passports inside this pocket—it’ll be too tight—which is definitely a bummer if you’re Jason Bourne. Or, you know, traveling with a significant other, children, etc. That said, you can easily slide a second passport inside the cash sleeve. It’s not a perfect spot for it—it’s not as secure as the dedicated passport pocket—but we’ve found it works just fine.

Bellroy Travel Wallet Pen

In the middle, there’s a Micro Pen (as Bellroy refers to it) that comes with the Travel Wallet. It’s a nice touch, especially because it’s stashed in a small slot, staying out of your way until you need it. And you may need it more than you think—mostly for all the paperwork that traveling entails, but also to scribble down all the hilarious jokes that pop into your head while soaring through the clouds or for writing down your number to share with your cute seat neighbor.

Bellroy Travel Wallet Card Sleeves

On the left side of the wallet, there are four card sleeves for the cards you use most frequently. We’ve found them to work best with one card per sleeve, which isn’t a huge deal because tucked into the cash sleeve there are three more card sleeves. Bellroy says that the Travel Wallet will comfortably hold approximately ten cards.

Bellroy Travel Wallet Back Card Sleeves

Inside the cash sleeve, you’ll also find a SIM card pocket. It’s frequently cheaper to pick up a SIM card when you reach your destination, so it’s nice to be able to pop your original one in a secure spot. There’s also a sleeve that’ll hold your ejector pin (a necessity to easily transfer SIM cards). And these sleeves will also stay out of your way if you don’t use them.

Bellroy Travel Wallet SIM Card Holder

The cash sleeve itself is quite spacious. There’s enough room for a significant amount of cash, as well as boarding passes, receipts, love letters, and other important travel documents.

Bellroy Travel Wallet Note Sleeve

If you flip up the leather flap at the back of the sleeve, you’ll find an additional spot for cash. This “hidden” sleeve isn’t new to the Bellroy Travel Wallet—you’ll find it on the Bellroy Hide & Seek Wallet , for example—and it’s a concept we really like.

While it’s not going to help much with security—let’s be real, a pickpocket or wrongdoer will likely steal your entire wallet, instead of asking you to pull out visible cash—it can help you stay organized or force you to stay on budget (stash emergency cash behind the flap and allow yourself to only spend what’s in sight #PackHackerProTip).

Bellroy Travel Wallet Hidden Compartment

You also don’t have to keep this slot hidden, instead using it as a divider to separate two types of currencies. That way you don’t embarrass yourself pulling out dollars when what you really need is pounds.

Unfortunately, in this case, the leather flap that hides your cash is flimsy and thin. It frequently flips up, causing the “secret” compartment to pop out from underneath, showing off the money you’re hoping to keep secret and secure. We’ve frequently had to tuck the divider back into place, which obviously isn’t ideal.

We haven’t had the same issue with the Bellroy Hide & Seek Wallet —the flap on that wallet feels secure. We believe it’s because the Travel Wallet is nearly twice as long as the Hide & Seek Wallet, yet the depth of the fold looks the same. Because the Travel Wallet is longer, we believe the fold should go further down to compensate. As it stands, the flap doesn’t scale well.

Bellroy Travel Wallet Leather Fold

The entire wallet is also RFID-protected, so you don’t have to worry about your passport or credit card information getting stolen via radio waves. While it’s been contested whether or not you should worry about these financial crimes, peace-of-mind is never a bad thing.

Durability & Testing

We’ve been testing the Bellroy Travel Wallet for a few weeks now, putting it to the test as we traveled from Detroit to the U.K., with a short stop off in New York City. Since arriving in the U.K., we’ve tested the Travel Wallet as a daily wallet to see how it works once you reach your destination.

All in all, it’s been a great travel companion. It organizes all of your cash, boarding documents, and cards, as well as a passport or two (we’ve tested it with two passports).

Bellroy Travel Wallet In Essex England

It also works as a daily driver, although its large size means it’s not ideal. In a perfect world, the Bellroy Travel Wallet would come with a shrink ray. That way, you could use it as a travel wallet—with enough space for boarding documents and a passport—and shrink it down to a pocketable size for everyday use. Unfortunately, shrink rays aren’t a thing yet, so you’ll just have to be okay using an oversized wallet at your destination.

Bellroy Travel Wallet Leather Marks

As far as durability is concerned, the Bellroy Travel Wallet isn’t holding up as well as other Bellroy products we’ve tested. Bellroy leather typically ages beautifully, but there are a number of noticeable marks and scratches on the Travel Wallet’s exterior. Obviously, these marks detract from the wallet’s overall sophisticated look, although it’s nothing terrible yet. We’ll keep you posted in the Usage Timeline down below.

Usage Timeline

Condition: Excellent

  • Tons of organization packed into a small package
  • Love the material, feels great in your hand
  • Sleek and stylish design

Condition: Good

  • We used this travel wallet with two passports in as we traveled from Detroit to the UK, with a short stop off in NYC
  • It did a great job at holding all of our cards, passports, and cash while on the road
  • We’ve noticed a fair few scratch marks on the leather which is rare for Bellroy products—it definitely detracts from the aesthetic
  • We found the leather fold that holds the “hidden” compartment in place isn’t sturdy enough, and the compartment can pop out from underneath

1. Premium Family Passport Holder and Document Organiser for 4 with RFID Blocking

2020 Guide To The Best Family Passport Holder

One Christmas , the team at Far & Wide, sent us this. I have been using it for years now! LOVE IT!

When you’re out and about, traveling from A to B, you need to know that your important documents are safe. This passport holder and document organizer are ideal for families who travel regularly, and it’s available in three different colors. I own the black one (pictured).

The case has four slots for passports and two larger pockets for documents. There is also a pen loop slot and a pocket for boarding passes while at the airport . You’ll also find a place for a card-sized ID or a driving license.

Best Family Passport Wallet

The material is solid and durable, and the zipper is made of quality leather, so it’s not going to break any time soon. The case also contains RFID blocking technology, so you can feel far more secure about moving around with your identity documents in one place.

I took this on a recent trip to Bosnia-Herzegovina and have to say it’s fabulous. I fit in my small Michael Kors day pack and quickly wiped clean when the baby donkey spilled his fruit cup all over it!

2. Valante Family Organizer

passport holder travel wallet review

Consider the Valante Family Organizer if you’re after something that keeps all your travel essentials secure and organized in one place.

  • Ample storage space with 21 pockets to house travel necessities
  • Durable construction with water-resistant material for any weather
  • Equipped with premium RFID protection to keep personal information safe
  • It may be bulkier than expected due to its large capacity
  • The gray color might not appeal to everyone’s taste
  • Some travelers might find the wristlet and cross-body straps unnecessary

Traveling with family means keeping everyone’s documents accessible and safe.

That’s where the Valante Family Organizer shines, boasting a smart layout with a whopping 21 pockets.

Designed for groups, its generous sections will let you neatly stash all six passports, boarding passes, and cash, among other essentials.

A standout feature is the RFID-blocking technology, which safeguards your family’s personal data against identity thieves.

Whether you’re navigating airports or exploring city streets, this functionality adds peace of mind.

Plus, the water-resistant fabric is a sigh of relief for when the weather turns sour.

While convenience is a touchstone, the organizer’s ample size might not be everyone’s cup of tea.

Still, when you’re juggling travel necessities for a whole crew, the extra space outweighs the slight inconvenience.

And hey, who says you can’t carry it like a badge, showing you’ve got the whole trip under control?

3. Travel Passport Holder for Family – RFID

passport holder travel wallet review

If you’re planning to keep your travel documents organized and secure, this passport holder could be a worthwhile consideration.

  • Thoughtfully designed with RFID blocking to protect personal information
  • Large capacity for essentials with dedicated slots for ease of access
  • Waterproof and lightweight, making it travel-friendly
  • The zipper pocket for coins might be too small for some
  • It could be bulkier than some traditional wallets
  • Limited to a classic style and may not suit all fashion preferences

This passport holder brings convenience to your travels by neatly organizing important documents.

It’s designed to hold all your essentials—passports for the whole family, IDs, credit cards, and travel documents.

The built-in RFID blocking technology is a crucial feature, giving you peace of mind about the security of your personal information from digital thieves.

The practicality of this passport holder shines through its large capacity and compact design.

You won’t need to dig around for a pen or your boarding card at the last minute; everything has its place.

It’s pretty much the travel partner that carries your necessities in an orderly fashion, so you’re less likely to encounter the panic of misplaced items.

Despite being packed with features, it’s important to weigh the pros and cons.

The small zipper pocket for coins might be a constraint if you carry a lot of change.

Also, because it can hold numerous items, it may feel a tad bulkier than expected compared to a slim wallet.

Style-wise, while it boasts a timeless black design, it might not be the flashiest option for the fashion-conscious traveler.

The P.travel Family Passport Holder offers just that.

Its sturdy material is both lightweight and waterproof, ensuring your documents stay dry and secure, whether you’re navigating airport security or caught in a rain shower.

One major advantage of this passport holder is the capacity.

Ideally designed for families, it can hold multiple passports and travel documents, helping to streamline movement through checkpoints.

This keeps your hands free and your mind clear, as everything you need is in one well-organized place.

Moreover, the added convenience of an external pocket means your phone and boarding passes are within easy reach.

An often overlooked aspect of travel is the concern for digital security.

RFID-blocking materials are integrated into this wallet, adding an extra layer of protection against electronic pickpockets.

7. Deziliao AirTag Passport Holder

passport holder travel wallet review

If you’re juggling travel documents and tech, this holder merges security with tech-savviness for peace of mind.

  • Built-in AirTag slot for easy tracking
  • Multiple compartments for organization
  • RFID-blocking sleeves
  • AirTag is not included with the purchase
  • Size may feel bulky with multiple passports
  • The material could feel too synthetic for some

Staying organized while traveling can be a true test of patience, especially when you’re herding the whole family through airports and foreign cities.

The Deziliao AirTag Passport Holder eases this burden with its multifunctionality.

Beyond just keeping your passport secure, it houses slots for cards, cash, and even your AirTag, transforming your passport holder into a mini travel hub.

Think about safety when you’re on the move—this is where the RFID-blocking feature comes in, protecting your personal information from digital pickpockets.

This is a reassuring feature, indeed, but remember, safety measures like this should always be paired with common sense while traveling.

Now, this passport holder isn’t shy about what it can do.

With a spot specifically designed for your AirTag and a snug home for other essentials, it asks you to consider how much you really need to carry at once.

Some find the size just right; others might find it a bit too ample when fully loaded.

The faux leather is praised for being lightweight and rememberproof, but its feel might not be fully utilized. Keep in mind that you’ll need your own AirTag to fully use this holder’s innovative tracking feature.

8. P.travel Passport Wallet

  • Constructed with durable, waterproof material
  • Features RFID protection to keep personal information safe
  • May be too large for those preferring a more compact wallet
  • Internal card slots could be limited for some
  • Style options are restricted to a professional look, which might not suit all tastes

Traveling with family means keeping everyone’s documents in order.

That’s where the spacious P.travel Passport Wallet steps in. It’s the equivalent of that trusty family car: nothing too flashy, but it does the job well.

You’ve got a dedicated spot for all your essentials, which saves you from playing hide-and-seek with your passports and boarding passes at the check-in counter.

Durability is key when you’re trotting around the globe, and this wallet understands the assignment.

It’s crafted with tough fabric and a strong zipper, warding off both spills and pickpockets.

Whether you’re navigating a bustling city street or caught in a downpour, your documents stay snug and dry.

Despite being able to hold quite the stack of travel essentials, the sleek design keeps it from bulging awkwardly in your bag or jacket.

And thanks to RFID-blocking materials, you get an extra layer of security against digital thieves, a real plus in today’s world of tech-savvy pickpockets.

Traveling as a group requires organization, and the tomtoc passport holder offers just that.

Its flexible inside organization is ideal for family trips.

You can store up to four passports, and there are dedicated slots for credit cards and travel documents.

The inclusion of an internal pen holder is a thoughtful touch for filling out customs forms on the go.

The safety of your sensitive information is paramount.

That’s where the wallet’s RFID blocking layer comes into play, guarding your credit cards and passports against skimming.

Furthermore, the hidden slot for an AirTag adds a layer of security, helping you track your essentials if they get misplaced.

Durability is another cornerstone of this product.

The water-resistant 840D Cordura Ballistic Nylon material ensures the safety of your belongings, no matter the weather.

The wrist strap adds convenience and a secure way to carry your wallet.

However, if you’re someone who travels light, this wallet might feel bulky.

But for those needing ample space and security, it strikes a good balance between function and form.

10. TOPBAG Passport Holder

passport holder travel wallet review

If you’re a globetrotting family, the TOPBAG Passport Holder can help you keep your travel documents secure and organized.

  • Made from durable polyester fabric that’s both waterproof and stain-resistant
  • Features RFID blocking technology to safeguard your personal information
  • Offers ample storage with multiple passport pockets, card slots, and a detachable keychain
  • The size might be larger than expected for some users
  • May not attach to a belt like some alternatives, despite the presence of a lanyard
  • Minimal aesthetic appeal; it’s more functional than fashionable

Traveling with family means keeping everybody’s documents in check. With the TOPBAG Passport Holder, you can store passports for the entire tribe all in one spot.

The RFID blocking ensures your personal data remains private, shielding you from digital pickpockets.

Despite its practicality, remember that it can be a bit larger than you anticipate. If you’re after a compact holder, this might not be your top choice.

However, that extra space also means you won’t have to leave behind any essentials.

This could be just what you need for those hectic airport scenarios when quick access to your documents is crucial.

What’s more, while this passport holder might not win any fashion awards, its functionality cannot be understated.

The organizer is an excellent choice for large families looking to combine security with storage while reducing travel stress.

The durability of the build and waterproof fabric contribute to a product that can withstand the rigors of travel.

When you’re ready for your next adventure, it’s reassuring to know your essential documents are neatly tucked away and protected.

11. Travelon RFID Wallet

passport holder travel wallet review

Investing in the Travelon RFID Wallet could be a smart move for security-conscious families on the go.

  • Safeguard your family’s personal information with RFID blocking technology.
  • Spacious enough to carry passports for a family of six, along with credit cards and travel documents.
  • It is conveniently designed with additional pockets for organizing currency and important cards.
  • Limited to one design pattern, which might not suit everyone’s aesthetic preferences.
  • Its size may be too large for those looking for a compact passport holder.
  • The material and zipper quality may not meet the expectations of all users.

Security is paramount when traveling with your family, and the Travelon RFID Blocking Family Passport Wallet is tailored to ensure your information stays safe.

RFID-blocking technology is essential in our digital age, and this wallet offers that barrier against identity theft.

Travel can be hectic, especially with a larger family. Keeping everyone’s documents together is a breeze with this sizable wallet.

The ample storage room allows all passports, boarding passes, and necessary cards to be in one place, reducing the chances of losing vital items.

Practicality shines with its internal design—the Travelon wallet not only protects your information but keeps you organized with its dedicated card slots and zippered pocket for currency.

This can streamline airport check-ins and security processes since everything you need is accessible in one secure location.

Sometimes, choosing travel accessories is a compromise between function and style.

The wallet’s design may not appeal to everyone, and if you prefer a sleeker, more discreet look, it might not be your first choice.

It’s a bit on the large side, too, but for a family, this means you won’t need to carry multiple holders.

Lastly, durability is a common concern with any travel gear. While Travelon is known for its quality, a few users have noted that the material and zipper could be sturdier.

However, many find the wallet holds up well to the rigors of travel, making it a reliable choice for family adventures.

What Is A Passport Holder?

A passport holder or travel wallet is what it says on the tin. It holds your passport safely and protects it from any spillages and damage. There is an enormous range of passport holders on the market, ranging from single occupying space to holding multiple passports inside.

What To Look For When Buying A Family Travel Document Holder

You gotta think about how many passports you’re actually going to carry.

If you have a large family, you need a passport holder that fits everyone without bulking up too much.

  • Individual – Carries 1-2 passports
  • Family Size – Carries 3+ passports

Durability is key. You want something that can handle the wear and tear of travel without falling apart after a few trips.

  • Leather : Luxurious and durable
  • Synthetic Fabrics : Water-resistant and lightweight
  • Plastic : Not as durable, but usually cheaper

Security Features

Security’s a big deal. Look for features that keep your personal info safe and sound.

  • RFID Blocking : Prevents unwanted scans of your data
  • YKK Zippers : Keeps everything contained
  • Lockable Compartments : Adds an extra layer of security

Design and Accessibility

The best holders make your life easier. You want to grab your docs quickly without having to rummage like you’re searching for buried treasure.

  • Well-organized Compartments : Keep stuff sorted
  • Clear Pockets : Spot your passport fast
  • Detachable Strap or Wristlets : Handy for keeping the holder close

Ease of Travel

Your holder should mesh well with your travel style. Think about how you’ll carry it through airports and cities.

  • Slim Profiles : Slide easily into your bag or pocket
  • Bold Colors : Spot it in a second if you drop it

Passport Holder Frequently Asked Questions

When prepping for family travel, you want a passport holder that can tote all your essentials without a hitch. Now, let’s tackle the most common queries you might have.

How many passports can comfortably fit in a family passport case?

Most family passport holders are designed to carry at least four to six passports. However, certain models offer more space, potentially accommodating up to ten, provided it doesn’t make the holder too bulky to handle.

What features should I consider when choosing a passport holder for family travel?

Key features include enough passport slots for all family members, durable material, pockets for travel documents, and a secure closure to keep everything tight and right. A bonus would be dedicated slots for credit cards and a pen loop for convenience.

Can a passport holder really help organize other travel documents besides passports?

Absolutely. A good passport holder isn’t just for passports; it has compartments for boarding passes, immunization records, travel insurance, visas, and currency. Think of it as your travel wallet, keeping everything in order.

Is it worth investing in a passport holder with RFID protection for family travel?

Yes, RFID protection is a smart move. It shields your sensitive information from skimming devices, adding a layer of security as you traverse through various destinations with your loved ones.

How do durability and material contribute to the best passport holder for families?

Durability is key. You need a material that withstands the rigors of travel—spills, drops, squishes. Quality materials like leather or high-grade synthetics promise longevity while keeping your documents intact.

Are there stylish passport holder options that are also functional for families?

Certainly, functionality doesn’t have to come at the expense of style.

There are chic designs that marry elegance with utility, featuring a variety of colors and patterns that can even be a hit with the kids.

Winks Travel Neck Wallet

TripSavvy / Suzie Dundas

Roomy pockets can hold a lot

Compact design fits easily in bags

RFID-blocking technology prevents information theft

Not stylish

The thin strap isn’t slash-proof

A bit cumbersome under clothing

The Winks Travel Neck Wallet certainly won’t win any style points, but it’s a useful solution for storing your important travel documents and it comes at a good price.

  • Portability
  • Competition
  • Final Verdict

We purchased the Winks Travel Neck Wallet so our writer could put it to the test. Keep reading for our full product review.

Keeping your travel documents closely guarded during an international trip is of the utmost importance, which is why tools like passport holders and passport protectors are so popular. There are a few different types of accessories you can choose from in this category, including wallet-style passport protectors and wearable holders that have space for keys and cards. The Winks Travel Neck Wallet passport holder with RFID-blocking technology is the latter—it’s a slim bag that travelers can wear around their necks to safely hold their passports, tickets, and other essential travel documents. We tested it out on a recent trip to see how it performed in terms of functionality and convenience. Read on for all the details and to find out whether or not we think this is the right passport holder for your next adventure.

Design: Not going to win a style award

The Winks Travel Neck Wallet is thoughtfully designed with many features travelers will appreciate. Rather than being shaped like a billfold or protective passport case, it’s instead styled as a hanging bag that can be worn around the neck, either over or under your clothes. It comes in three color options: black, grey, or pink.

It’s 9 inches long and 5.5 inches wide with seven pockets. There are several slots a passport could fit in, though the most secure pocket is likely the large zippered one on the front. In our testing, we were able to hold three passports very easily, which makes the Winks Travel Neck Wallet a good option for couples or parents with young children .

It’s made from 210D ripstop nylon so you know it’s durable. The back of the holder is padded with very light moisture-wicking foam to make it comfortable against skin or clothing, and the thin neck strap is adjustable. It’s important to note that it’s quite a thin strap. It may not be ideal if you have concerns about someone cutting or ripping it off your body. We also found that when the holder was packed full and worn under clothing, the thin strap dug into our shoulder skin a little. It wasn’t painful, but it may be annoying if you’re trying to do significant sightseeing or walk long distances.

It worked exceptionally well, with plenty of pockets and secure space.

The real downfall of the design, in our opinion, is that it screams “tourist.” Wearing it on the outside of your clothing is a surefire way to mark yourself as a tourist in any foreign country, which can be appealing to pickpockets . A common safety rule of international travel is “try to blend in,” and you will absolutely not blend in if you’re wearing this over your clothing as you explore. Many travel experts also recommend that you should carry a copy of your passport with you and leave your actual passport in the safety of a hotel safe.

You could, of course, wear the passport holder under your clothing, which is commonly done. That allows you to keep your documents close without advertising that you’re carrying valuables. This is a popular tactic for travelers in areas where pickpocketing is common or where hotel safes and storage can’t be trusted. A third option is not to wear it at all but instead carry it as an accessory to keep all your travel documents in one place, which is what we did. It worked exceptionally well, with plenty of pockets and secure space. It’s also water-resistant, which is sure to be helpful if you get caught with your passport in a downpour or have to change planes in rainy weather.

Portability: Can carry most of your small items

The Winks Travel Neck Wallet excels in portability. Aside from being wearable and thin enough to lie flat under loose clothing, it's loaded with useful pockets. It held much more than we thought it would, including three passports, a cell phone, earbuds, several credit cards , a wad of cash, lip balm, and a hotel room key. If you're not carrying too much beyond that, it could be your only bag while out sightseeing for the day.

Aside from being wearable and thin enough to lie flat under loose clothing, it’s loaded with useful pockets.

Once loaded up, it can feel a bit bulky under clothes so how you carry it really comes down to personal preference. In our testing, a friend described it as “a sort of dorky-looking purse," which seems fitting. It's certainly not stylish or trendy, but it's very useful. Even packed full, it has a much slimmer profile than a purse. Because it's fairly slim, it's easy to slide into a backpack or bag if you're carrying one while sightseeing.

Security: Solid protection

A selling point of the Winks Travel Neck Wallet is the fact that it's woven with RFID-blocking fibers. That means the passport holder interrupts frequencies from electronic card readers, so thieves trying to steal your information electronically will be unable to read the contents of any cards in your bag. Your info will be safe if you use the designated credit card pockets, even if someone around you is phishing for data.

Price: A no-brainer on price

The Winks Travel Neck Wallet retails for around $17, making it cheaper than most budget wallets. If you think there’s even a small chance it may come in handy during your trip, it’s worth buying. It would also be an affordable gift to give a frequent traveler in your life.

If you think there’s even a small chance it may come in handy during your trip, it’s worth buying.

Competition: Design will guide your decision

Anthropologie Whitney Winkler Posie Passport Holder: The Anthropologie passport holder and the Winks Travel Passport holder are two very different items. Anthropologie’s holder is more like a protective book for your passport rather than a wearable accessory. It also has a trendier, more elegant design, with patterns created by current artists. However, the Winks Travel Neck Wallet has many more pockets and holds more items than the Posie Passport Holder, making it a better choice for buyers who want to carry multiple passports or use it in lieu of a purse or bag.

The Venture 4th Travel Neck Pouch Wallet : The Venture 4th Travel Neck Pouch Wallet is extremely similar in design to the Winks Travel Neck Wallet, even down to the name. Both have a similar design and features and have space to carry your passport as well as travel documents and cards. They’re nearly the same in price, too, so the decision on which to buy may just come down to aesthetics (though they’re almost the same on that front, too.)

A great option for those who prioritize security above style.

If you’re at all worried about keeping your passport safe during travel, you’ll appreciate the secure pockets and close fit of the Winks Travel Neck Wallet passport holder. It lacks a trendy design, but it’s a useful buy for travelers who want to keep important documents together in one easy-to-carry place.

The Travel Essential That Will Help You Remember To Pack Your Passport

We may receive a commission on purchases made from links.

Forgetting your passport is one of the most frustrating airport mistakes you can make. Along with adding a great deal of stress, the consequences can create serious hiccups in your travels. You could end up potentially missing a flight and having to go through the tedious process of filing a report. But, thankfully, there's a simple way to prevent this from happening in the first place. It just requires some forethought and a small investment.

Forgetfulness is connected to disorganization, so having a designated passport case can help you stay on track. Provided that you've put it in a secure spot, a passport holder also provides an extra layer of protection, which should give you peace of mind while traveling to new destinations. Cases with special compartments keep necessities like your passport, IDs, and credit cards well-organized too. When you're sightseeing, however, it's smart to lock up your passport in a hotel safe. Overall, these  travel accessories are efficient and effective. With that said, keep these important factors in mind when picking out a passport wallet.

Optimizing Your Passport Wallet

As you browse suitable passport wallets, pay close attention to size, durability, and features. ACdream holder  ($12 retail) is an example of a case that checks all of the boxes. In addition to securing your passport, its compact wallet contains several pockets for essentials like credit cards, vaccination records, and boarding passes. Made from sturdy PU leather, the material offers resistance to water damage, too. The wallet even goes a step further by using radio frequency identification (RFID) blocking technology to protect your confidential information. This prevents people from being able to scan your cards from afar without your consent. Plus, the case is available in various colors and designs, allowing you to choose a book based on your personal style.

On top of investing in an optimal passport wallet, you can add another layer of protection by following one tried-and-true traveler tip. Flight attendant Ty Opoku Adjei told Business Insider that leaving a passport in a hotel room safe is quite common among travelers. She said, "When we go on holiday, it's natural to want to keep your valuables in the hotel room safe." Yet, it's easy to forget to check the safe before departing. As a solution, she recommended placing a shoe you'll wear to the airport in the safe. That way, you'll remember to look there.
