Newest Season of Animated Series Announced During Pokémon’s 25th Anniversary Year

BELLEVUE, Wash. — May 6, 2021 — Today, The Pokémon Company International announced the latest season of the iconic Pokémon animated series will premiere in select markets as early as summer—with more premieres coming to additional markets through the end of 2021. The 24th season of the globally popular animation featuring the newest adventures of Ash Ketchum and his Pikachu will be titled “ Pokémon Master Journeys: The Series .” First-look screenshots and the official season synopsis were also revealed, providing fans of the franchise with another exciting way to celebrate 25 years of Pokémon during this special anniversary year.   “Pokémon Master Journeys: The Series” Synopsis: It’s a big, big world, but you know where to find Ash and Goh—battling and catching Pokémon from Kanto to Galar! What can audiences expect from  Pokémon Master Journeys: The Series  Part 3? In such a vibrant world where every turn holds a promise of more adventure, waiting can be hard. In order to satiate this wait for more  Pokémon Master Journeys  episodes, here is everything that is known about Part 3 so far.

Since Ash Ketchum finally won a Pokémon league in Alola after failing time and time again, Pokémon Journeys and subsequently Pokémon Master Journeys switched up the classic series formula. Instead of having Ash earn gym badges in one Pokémon region to pursue his familiar goal of winning a league championship, he is competing in a tournament to determine the strongest Pokémon trainer in the world. The World Coronation Series pits Ash against trainers of a similar calibre in the same class in order to slowly raise his rank. By raising his rank, Ash can enter stronger classes, challenge tougher opponents, and ultimately compete in an elite tournament with the best of the best.

On his quest to become the best, Ash travels with young trainer Goh . Goh, a character with ambitious dreams of his own, has rightfully earned his place as Ash's companion and co-protagonist throughout the series' run. So far, the two have helped each other time and time again. Part 3 is set up for this partnership to continue in the near future.

Pokémon Master Journeys Part 3 Is Coming

When Netflix confirmed its plans to release Pokémon Master Journeys: The Series on its platform, the streaming service decided to do so in the same format as  Pokémon  Journeys: The Series . Rather than choosing to release single episodes on a weekly basis or the entire season at once, Netflix opted to publish small batches of episodes throughout the years. Since Pokémon Master Journeys is confirmed to have at least 46 episodes, Netflix will be releasing a Part 3 to further close the 19 episode gap.

Pokémon Master Journeys Part 3 Story & Cast

Fans can expect to see the return of Ash and Goh as they resume their journey together to assist the Cerise Laboratory in its research while pursuing their individual goals. In Part 2, Ash officially reached the Ultra Class after defeating Iris and gaining rank 99 in the World Coronation Series. This accomplishment brought him one step closer to achieving his goal of gaining a rank 8 or higher, joining the Master Class, and participating in a tournament to challenge the previous World Champion Leon. Meanwhile, Goh worked on achieving his primary goal of catching every Pokémon by acquiring the likes of Absol, Galarian Stunfisk, and Galinks. However, he made major progress on his ultimate goal of catching the legendary Pokémon Mew by joining Project Mew, a project that shares Goh's desire to find this mystical Pokémon. Part 3 will pick up right where Part 2 left off while continuing the season's trend of revisiting old friends and environments on the way.

Pokémon Master Journeys Part 3 Release Date

Though Netflix has yet to confirm a Pokémon Master Journeys Part 3 release date, fans won't have to wait too long. Based on Netflix's goal to release a batch of episodes every quarter and the four-month gap between the first two parts, Part 3 is expected to come out sometime in mid-late spring. As much as nobody enjoys waiting, Part 3 is certainly shaping up to be worth it.

The 24th season of the popular anime series is coming soon.

The Pokémon anime is getting its 24th season, and both Ash Ketchum and Pikachu will be back for new adventures this year. The Pokémon Company International confirmed the new season, titled Pokémon Master Journeys: The Series , will come to select markets this summer, while additional releases all around the globe will happen throughout 2021.

The current Pokémon season, Pokémon  Journeys , will still air new episodes weekly until the end of May. Pokémon Journeys  led Ash through all the eight main regions of the Pokémon universe, as opposed to other seasons that focused on a single region and a specific championship. Accordingly to Pokémon Company International, we can expect a trailer for Master Journeys to be released soon on the official Pokémon YouTube channel .

Pokémon Trainer Ash Ketchum has a new plan: see the world!
