Beautiful Beaches

There's no shortage of incredible beaches on this Greek island. Here are some of our favorites and why.

Agios Ioannis

Considered the most beautiful beach on the island's southwest coast, Agios has soft sand and clear blue waters. From there, cruisers can enjoy an amazing view over the island of Delos. It's a good place to get away from it all, but not too close to the town to be overwhelmed by tourists.

Elia is the largest beach in Mykonos. The beach is largely family-friendly with lots of beach cafes and places to eat. Embodying a fun, carefree atmosphere, it's no wonder that it's one of Mykonos' most popular beach destinations. Elia is 25 minutes by car from Mykonos Town.

Popular with families who enjoy watersports, this beach is on the eastern side of the island. Sailing, windsurfing, snorkeling, scuba diving, and more await at Kalafati. Feeling thirsty or hungry? Upscale open-air bars and seafood restaurants line the shore.

The most famous of all of Mykonos' beaches, Paradise is what a party beach is all about. It attracts crowds who dance, drink, and listen to the music playing at several bars and restaurants. Paradise is just 20 minutes from the center of Mykonos Town. It's also within walking distance of four other beaches: Paraga, Agia Anna, Platys Gialos, and Psarou.

Archeological Sites

Discover Mykonos' ancient heritage at their popular archeological sites that date back thousands of years.

Delos is next to Mykonos and is the island where Apollo was born, based on Greek mythology. The entire island was dedicated to the Greek god of the sun, and worshipers from all over the Mediterranean would come to honor him. It's currently an open archeology site with fascinating monuments and a museum. Delos was added to the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Greece back in 1990.

Full-Day Sightseeing

Mykonos is considered a small island, - but with everything that there is to see and do, tourists can spend several days sightseeing.

Mykonos is one of the most developed islands in Greece for tourism - there are regular ferries all year long, but itineraries are most frequent during the summer. Tourists can ferry to Athens, Santorini, Paros, Naxos, Crete, Tinos, and more. All ferries to Mykonos dock at the New Port of Mykonos, just minutes away from the Main Town in a car.

Old Town Mykonos, otherwise known as Chora (also known as "Mykonos Town" or "Hora", is the picturesque capital and largest town on the island. It's a mostly pedestrian maze of narrow streets with cubic whitewashed houses. It's essentially a traditional Cycladic village, with bougainvilleas, small white churches, and colorful windows, doors, and balconies. Visitors can explore on their own or do a walking tour with a small group.

Famous Churches

There are several iconic churches across the island. The Panagia Paraportiani Church dates back to the 1400s, and it's considered a perfect example of Cycladic architecture. Panagia Paraportiani is classified as a national monument and can be found in the town of Chora. The architecture of the monastery of Panagia Tourliani is just as impressive. Originally built in 1542 by two priests, the monastery was restored in 1767 and is located in Ano Mera village.

The island is known for its impressive beaches and nightlife, but the culinary scene further adds to its charm. From fine-dining and internationally acclaimed restaurants to street food and traditional bakeries, Mykonos has something for everyone. However, if you're more interested in drinking and dancing, there is no better place to party. From confetti-dropping bottle-popping mega-club experiences to intimate live music bars, most of them are within walking distance of the island's main hub of Old Town.

A la llegada de su crucero al puerto el guía le estará esperando en el puerto, identificado con el cartel Shore2Shore.

Comenzamos nuestra visita a la isla de   Mykonos pasando por el típico paisaje de las islas Cícladas .

Admiraremos el impresionante paisaje que caracteriza a Mykonos, como la isla de los vientos y de las piedras, las numerosas capillitas blancas ofrendas de los isleños, así como los palomares tradicionales esparcidos por casi todos los pueblecitos de la zona miconiata rural que caracterizan la vida cotidiana de Mykonos.

Pasando por la región de Ornos que se considera la región más turística de Mykonos, llegaremos a la playa de San Juan (en la parte occidental de la isla) donde realizaremos la primera parada para hacer unas fotografías de Delos . La isla que esta justo frente a la playa, es la isla sagrada del dios Apolo y alberga su santuario, considerado uno de los yacimientos arqueológicos más importantes de toda Grecia.

Atravesando la parte central de la isla llegaremos al noreste de Mykonos donde está la playa de Kalafatis , una de las ochenta playas de ensueño que rodean la isla de Mykonos.En la cafetería que hay al lado del mar y frente a las Tetas de la diosa Afrodita , es decir, las colinas de tierra que dominan el paisaje, realizaremos la segunda parada para tomar fotografías de la playa, de las olas y de los surfistas.

Antes de llegar a Chora visitaremos el pueblo de Ano Mera , en cuya plaza central está ubicado el monasterio de Panagia Tourliani . El monasterio de Tourliani, monumento Nacional Cultural del estado griego y eje de leyendas relacionadas con la historia de Mykonos además, es un típico ejemplo de la arquitectura eclesiástica de las islas griegas. El monasterio alberga el icono milagroso de la Virgen Tourliani , obra de Evangelista Lucas; La Virgen de Tourliani es considerada la patrona protectora de Mykonos. Dentro del recinto sagrado del monasterio hay un pequeño museo eclesiástico, donde se exponen obras valiosas, iconos bizantinos, bordados, ornamentos, así como las campanas que provienen del primer monasterio.

Nuestro recorrido en Mykonos terminará con la visita de la Chora de Mykonos, en palabras griegas: la capital de la isla, una de las ciudades más bonitas y pintorescas de todas las islas griegas. En esta hermosa ciudad tendremos la oportunidad de visitar los barrios y los rincones más atractivos, tales como la pequeña Venecia de Mykonos, construida prácticamente sobre el mar y llena de cafeterías y tiendas de souvenirs, los Molinos del viento , símbolo moderno de Mykonos. La parte costera de la ciudad a lo largo de la orilla se llama Gialos , aquí se encuentra la iglesia Panagia Paraportiani , la iglesia ortodoxa más fotografiada de toda Grecia y  podremos dar un paseo panorámico por la ciudad,  por las numerosas callejuelas de su centro, todas pavimentadas y adornadas con flores y muy coloridas.

Finalizada la excursión, disfrutaremos de tiempo libre para explorar esta experiencia única y pasear por su zona comercial. El regreso al puerto será por libre, los pasajeros podrán volver caminando (un paseo muy agradable en una zona de bares y restaurantes), pueden tardar aproximadamente entre 20 y 30 min o volver con las lanchas del puerto si su crucero las hubiese habilitado o bien pagando el importe de vuelta en lancha. Aproximadamente  2,00 € por persona y trayecto a pagar in situ a cargo del cliente.

• El Monasterio de Panagia Tourliani es residencia de monjes por lo que los horarios de visita y permiso de acceso al interior no dependerán de Shore2Shore, siendo decisión de ellos permitirnos o denegarnos el acceso el mismo día de la excursión, en ocasiones sin previo aviso.
• Nivel Fácil/Panorámica/Cultural
• Se aconseja llevar calzado cómodo.
• Las personas con movilidad reducida, que utilicen silla de ruedas deben ir acompañadas de otra persona que pueda ayudarles. Rogamos utilicen sillas de ruedas plegables, puesto que los autobuses no disponen de elevadores o rampa. Shore2Shore no se hace responsable si el cliente no informa de su situación en el momento de hacer la reserva.
