Trip Overview

If you love to ski, and the more runs you can get in on different slopes each day the better, then you should check out our Dolomites Ski Safari Experience! We’ve crafted this trip to maximize your time on the slopes, exploring a wide range of terrain at different resorts, in some of the most beautiful mountains on earth – the Dolomites.

On our Ski Safari Experience, you’ll have five full days of skiing to get to know these mountains well. You’ll ski from resort to resort across the Dolomites, enjoying the advantage of lift-service pistes. And one of the beauties of skiing here is that you can ski from rifugio-to-rifugio, staying at a different mountain inn high above the slopes each night! 

Every day you’ll explore a different ski area within the Dolomiti Superski – 12 ski areas featuring 1,200 kilometers (746 miles) of prepared pistes (all on one ski pass!) that will lead you to discover the breathtaking beauty of these mountains.  From Alta Badia to Civetta, to the Marmolada, to Lagazuoi and Cinque Torri – you’ll experience the wide variety of the finest ski resorts in the Dolomites.

In the evening you’ll experience the welcoming atmosphere of the rifugios – alpine mountain inns set high atop the mountains with excellent views – and savor the excellent culture and cuisine unique to the region. Crossing from region to region – the South Tyrol, Badia, and Cortina – your taste buds will enjoy the unique combination of flavors resulting from the disparate Italian, Austrian, and Ladin cultures found in these valleys. 

Throughout your trip, you’ll ski with our outstanding UIAGM/IFMGA Professional Mountain Guides , who know their way in and out of the Dolomite Mountains – the best runs, the best slope-side dining, and what wine to order!  Plus, while maximizing your turns is the focus, they’re always willing to give you pointers to help you improve.  Whether you’re a seasoned skier or still honing your skills, if you love full days of skiing on different terrain each run, this is the trip for you!

Please note : It is important to us that you get the most out of your Dolomite Mountains trip! Our ski safaris require a minimum ability of intermediate to advanced skiing.

Trip itinerary may vary based on weather conditions, fitness levels and abilities of participants, and/or the recommendations of the Dolomite Mountains Team and your mountain guide. Daily mileage and altitude gain may vary depending on the device used.

Arrive in Alta Badia

Arrive in Alta Badia on your own (private transfer available on request) and check into your hotel. Alta Badia is located between 1,400 and 2,700 meters (4,593-8,858') above sea level. This altitude ensures optimal ski conditions throughout the winter, and offers breathtaking views of the most beautiful peaks of the Dolomites. Fast and comfortable ski lift connections, miles of wide, well-groomed slopes (130km / 81 miles), and the spaciousness of the ski area allow you to enjoy pleasant and safe skiing days. Charming mountain huts and first class mountain restaurants round out the appeal, making Alta Badia a ski area for connoisseurs. You’ll notice the street signs are written in three languages – first in Ladino (a neo-Latin language), then in German, and lastly in Italian. The mixed culture is very well marked not only in the language, but also in the architecture and cuisine. You will surely enjoy hearty meals that are representative of the incredible diversity of this region! Enjoy your first dinner at the hotel.

After breakfast meet your local English speaking UIAGM/IFMGA ski guide and start to explore the Alta Badia ski resort. Corvara, Colfosco, La Villa, San Cassiano, Badia and La Val are the famous names of the towns of Alta Badia that represent the cradle of the Dolomites winter tourism. You will have the opportunity to venture on the famous World Cup slope of Gran Risa or on the more relaxed slopes of Piz La Villa, Gardenaccia, and Santa Croce. Try traditional Ladin specialities served in the many rifugios on the slopes, from Canederli – dumplings flavored with spinach or Speck, a ham unique to the region; to Turtres – pastry stuffed with spinach, cheese, etc., and deep fried. Thanks to the Ladin, Tyrolean, and Mediterranean influences, this area has developed a unique and extremely varied cuisine. Dinner included at a local restaurant.

After breakfast, ski towards the town of Arabba to reach the ski area of the Marmolada. This imposing mountain dividing the region of the Bellunese from the region of Trentino, reaches a height of 3,342 meters (10,965') – the highest in the Dolomites. It is also one of the most scenic of the Dolomites, and home to her largest remaining glacier. The ski runs are well groomed and run down the glacier towards the valley. The highest point of the ski area is also the starting point of one of the most beautiful ski runs of the Alps: La Bellunese. The Marmolada ski area offers wonderful intermediate and high difficulty ski slopes on the glacier, surrounded by breathtaking landscapes that will make your ski day on the Queen of the Dolomites an unforgettable experience.

Civetta Ski Area

Have a short transfer to the town of Alleghe. Today you will discover the ski resort of Civetta. Surrounded by plenty of uncontaminated views and majestic peaks, the valleys of Alleghe, Selva di Cadore, Zoldo, and Palafavera of Monte Civetta are rich in history and tradition. The Ski Civetta area offers a wide range of slopes and attracts skiers of all levels, for a total of 80km / 49,7 miles and 23 lifts. In the afternoon you will have a transfer to your next destination: the Cinque Torri and Lagazuoi area.

Ski the Cinque Torri and Lagazuoi Area to Cortina d'Ampezzo

Ski in the area of Cinque Torri, reach Passo Falzarego and take the Lagazuoi cable car, which arrives at an altitude of 2,800 meters (9,186') in just three minutes! Once you reach the top, stop to enjoy the breathtaking panorama from the terrace of the Rifugio Lagazuoi, famous throughout the world for its spectacular views of the Dolomite peaks. When you’re ready to descend, you’re in for a treat! The Armentarola slope unfolds along the foot of the imposing Fanes mountain, in an enchanting fairy-tale valley surrounded by majestic castles of rock and frozen waterfalls, making this magical descent an endless flow of thrills and surprises. Take a private transfer to your hotel in Cortina d'Ampezzo and enjoy dinner at a local restaurant.

Want to learn more about our Mountain Inns & Rifugi?              Rifugi – or  mountain huts  in English – are the classic accommodation for hikers, climbers, mountaineers, and ski mountaineers in the Alps. Set in spectacular locations high in the Dolomites, rifugi are accessible only on foot (with a few exceptions that are reachable by car). These marvelous establishments are open primarily in the summer, with a select few in winter, and offer meals and sleeping facilities.

The Dolomite rifugi are considered the best in the Alps. While some are dormitory style with bunk beds, many meet the standard of a simple guest house with private rooms and en-suite bathrooms, and each has its own unique character and charm. Bedding and linens are provided, hot showers are available, and meals are served in common dining areas – like a small mountain inn set high in the mountains with the most incredible vistas in the Dolomites. Whether you’re hiking in summer or skiing in winter, an overnight rifugio stay is not to miss on a Dolomite holiday.
