St. Vincent is set to bring the ‘All Born Screaming’ Tour to the UK and Europe this summer.

The American artist, real name Annie Clark, will head to Bristol’s SWX, the Royal Albert Hall in London, Den Atelier in Luxembourg and Antwerp’s De Roma between May 31 and June 4. Support will come from Heartworms. Tickets go on general sale at 10am this Friday, April 12.

The tour will also head across North America between August 8 and September 20. Tickets for those dates are already on sale.

‘electriclarryland’: how the butthole surfers scored an unlikely hit.

The tour takes its name from St. Vincent’s new album, All Born Screaming, which is due for release on April 26 . The artist has already previewed it with the singles “Broken Man” and “Flea,” the latter of which features Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl on drums and Justin Meldal-Johnsen on bass.

All Born Screaming will be St. Vincent’s first entirely self-produced record. “There are some places, emotionally, that you can only get to by taking the long walk into the woods alone—to find out what your heart is really saying,” Clark says of the process. “It sounds real because it is real.”

Ahead of the release of her 2021 album Daddy’s Home , St. Vincent launched a new model of her signature guitar, called ‘Goldie,’ with Ernie Ball Music Man. Now, Olivia Rodrigo has taken the guitar on the road for her Guts World Tour, which kicked off in Palm Springs on February 23rd. Clark shared a video from the show of Rodrigo playing the guitar on an unreleased Guts track, “Obsessed.” “Olivia killing it opening night of Guts tour,” Clark wrote on her Instagram story. “Playing a custom purple STV Goldie. Best new music to hear from St. Vincent, Ngaiire, Kamasi Washington and more

St Vincent sits in darkness, wearing white jumper and black gloves, at a table with an orange flower in a tin can

Look, we get it. Life gets busy and with so much music available at our fingertips, it can be overwhelming to find something new to enjoy.

That's where our team of music brains step in. Every fortnight, they'll bring you a handful of new releases worth your time and attention.

So, if your playlists needed a little freshening up or digging around your streaming service just seems like hard work, here are five recent releases to listen to this week.

St. Vincent – All Born Screaming

St Vincent wears black and white and flails with her arms on fire against a pitch black sound stage

Whether it's your first introduction to St Vincent — aka shapeshifting art rocker Annie Clark — or you've been closely following her career, her seventh studio effort is a rewarding experience.

This week's Double J Feature Album , All Born Screaming feels like a 10-track tour of the best bits of her discography, pinballing between synth-laden anthems, industrial rock, gothic prog, and even reggae and a gothic spin on a James Bond theme, brass and all.

Tying this eclectic offering together is Clark's refined songwriting. She's written for gen Z pop sensation Olivia Rodrigo and helped pen Taylor Swift's mega-hit Cruel Summer, and here she's refined her ability to transform experimental ideas into oddly accessible gems.

Reckless merges Clark's teen inspirations Nine Inch Nails and Tori Amos, while Dave Grohl brings his juggernaut drumming to the slithering Broken Man and gritty, sauntering Flea.

Elsewhere, she channels Davids Byrne and Bowie respectively on the title track's avant-pop groove and The Power's Out, which updates Ziggy Stardust's apocalyptic Five Years for 2024.

Much like the album's artwork, it's a dark, fiery listening experience that will win you over with its sonic surprises and sense of raw urgency.

For fans of:  David Byrne, Fiona Apple, Florence + The Machine

Ngaiire and the Sydney Symphony Orchestra – Live at the Sydney Opera House

chalk drawings on a black background with text "Live at the Sydney Opera House Ngaiire and the Sydney Symphony Orchestra"

The first-ever live album from Papua New Guinea-born singer Ngaiire is no joke: a stunning 62-minute collection that melds her intricate brand of modern soul with the revered Sydney Symphony Orchestra.

While it's easy to believe orchestral arrangements will just be stern and soulless, the truth is that this ensemble brings out a lot of the playfulness in Ngaiire's work. Yes, there are moments where the strings soar alongside her voice and it sounds like what we could only hope ascending to the afterlife feels like, but, just as frequently, the orchestral embellishments are a lot of fun.

It must have been nerve-wracking putting together a show of this scope at the mighty Opera House, but there was never any question that Ngaiire would rise to the occasion: Her voice is so clear and commanding that the orchestra frequently fades into the background – a true show stopper.

Don't let this be your only point of reference for Ngaiire, though. No matter what you take from this record, you'll take something different when listening to her three excellent studio albums, which are just as deserving of your time as this collection.

For fans of: Janelle Monáe, Hiatus Kaiyote, RAYE

Kamasi Washington – Fearless Movement

Kamasi Washington stands in front of a painted mural, wearing fusion Afro/samurai armour with his daughter running around

A virtuoso saxophonist and respected band leader, Kamasi Washington has achieved the seemingly impossible: making jazz hip again.

Since the crossover success of his 2015 album The Epic , Washington has continued crafting sprawling compositions that splice jazz with outside influences and heady subject matter including politics, spirituality, and personal reflection.

The LA muso's fifth proper album Fearless Movement is billed as a tribute to the art of dance, resulting in music that's fuelled by funked-up rhythms, firebrand rapping and intriguing collaborations.

Parliament-Funkadelic's George Clinton guests on the strutting Get Lit, rapper-turned-flute wizard André 3000 appears on the cosmically groovy Dream State, and lifelong buddy Thundercat shreds bass on Asha the First, which is built on a melody from Washington's three-year-old daughter.

Running at 86 minutes (which is actually more concise than the record's two-hour-plus predecessors), Fearless Movement is best approached by letting its impressive scope wash over you.

Opening with an Ethiopian Orthodox prayer and bringing together covers of Argentine composer Astor Piazzolla's Prologue and 80s electro-funksters Zapp's talk-box-led Computer Love , the album is until any other released this year.

For fans of:  Robert Glasper, Alice Coltrane, Thundercat

Forest Claudette – Jupiter

Portrait of Australian artist Forest Claudette appearing in several fragments of shattered glass

Forest Claudette won't be boxed in. The Naarm/Melbourne artist makes a buttery-smooth mix of neo-soul, alt-R&B and hip hop that defies genre boundaries.

Blessed with a soulful voice that most closely resembles Frank Ocean (high praise in itself), Forest Claudette has a voice that is future-facing and evokes other musicians that flaunt conventions (Childish Gambino, Steve Lacy, Genesis Owusu) but very much has its own thing going on.

After championing their music at triple j , I can say that Jupiter — Forest Claudette's third EP in as many years – is their most personal work yet.

Pairing an infectious falsetto hook with languid beats, Kobe Beef is the first song Forest Claudette (real name Kobe Hamilton-Reeves) has written about being non-binary .

Gold is a sleek semi-ballad and Big Wigs brings funky swagger, while the silky Only Human confidently rejects gender norms with pitch-shifting vocals and playful production.

"If men are from Mars and women are from Venus, maybe I could be from Jupiter. Jupiter represents a home and safe place for all the non-binary babies to live," Hamilton-Reeves explained the EP's title in a statement.

If Jupiter's four bops aren't enough for you, there's an album's worth of quality musicianship and supernova charisma to enjoy between 2022's The Year of February and 2023's ARIA-snagging Everything Was Green.

Taken all together, this body of work is back-to-back-to-back evidence that Forest Claudette is a future star.

For fans of:  Frank Ocean, Steve Lacy, Childish Gambino

Bobby Alu – Keep It Tropical

Photograph of Bobby Alu against a pam tree lined body of water, framed by yellow, geometric artwork

Full disclosure, I've just returned from a long weekend on the beautiful island of Minjerribah (North Stradbroke Island), so I was very much in the right place to devour Samoan Australian Bobby Alu's new album after its release on Friday.

This collection of island-friendly tunes cements Alu as one of our country's finest reggae talents – having bassist Paulie B and drummer Declan Kelly on board certainly doesn't hurt – as his classic, Bob Marley-esque melodies, relaxed ukulele strum and all-round good vibes come together seamlessly in a collection of songs that make an impact.

"How do you find joy? I Keep It Tropical," Alu said in a statement.

"This is my mantra. What this mantra means for me is to spend time with friends. To take naps. Be generous. Go on adventures. Have gratitude. Enjoy the little things. Strive to be better. Don't be so serious. Love. Laugh a lot. Eat the odd doughnut. Swim in the ocean. Enjoy the sunshine and warmth. It is an ongoing quest."

Alu is a soulful singer and a strong songwriter, and here he gives us a hefty dose of classic lovers' rock with a seemingly limitless bucket of good vibes. He sounds like a man who couldn't hold a grudge if it were stuck to his palms, and there's power to the gentle yet confident way he delivers these uber-chilled tracks.

St. Vincent announces ‘All Born Screaming Tour’ with Spoon. Get tickets

The patron saint of indie rock is hitting the road.

St. Vincent just announced she’s swinging into venues all over North America for the ‘All Born Screaming Tour’ in support of her upcoming album with the same name.

Along the way, the “Roslyn” singer who’s sometimes known as Annie Clark will stop into Brooklyn’s newly opened Paramount Theatre for a pair of back-to-back gigs on Tuesday, Sept. 10 and Wednesday, Sept. 11.

She’s not going it alone, either.

On select dates, she’ll be joined by iconic acts Spoon , Yves Tumor , Momma,  Eartheater and Dorian Electra.

Can’t wait for the indie event of the summer?

As of now, disciples of St. Vincent can pick up tickets for her concerts and pair of festival appearances.

Although inventory isn’t available for the tour on Ticketmaster until Friday, April 5, fans who want to ensure they have tickets ahead of time can purchase on sites like Vivid Seats before tickets are officially on sale.

Vivid Seats is a secondary market ticketing platform, and prices may be higher or lower than face value, depending on demand.

They have a 100% buyer guarantee that states your transaction will be safe and secure and will be delivered before the event.

A complete calendar including all tour dates, venues, and links to buy tickets can be found below.

Over Memorial Day weekend, St. Vincent will headline at Napa, CA’s annual, genre-spanning BottleRock Festival.

Other mega acts set to take the stage this year include  Stevie Nicks ,  Ed Sheeran ,  Norah Jones , Pearl Jam and  Queens of the Stone Age .

If this sounds like the fest for you,  grab BottleRock Festival tickets here .

Right as St. Vincent officially kicks off her tour, she’ll take a quick detour to lend her talents to Carnation, WA’s Thing Festival at Remlinger Farms on Aug. 9-11.

Black Pumas , Toro Y Moi , Spoon , Shakey Graves , and Killer Mike top this year’s impressive bill.

Click here to grab single and multi-day passes for the “eclectic and intimate” fest.

In October 2022, St. Vincent closed her sprawling tour in Las Vegas.

Here’s what she performed at that gig, courtesy of Set List FM .

12.) “Year of the Tiger”

13.) “Your Lips Are Red”

14.) “The Melting of the Sun”

Thus far, St. Vincent has dropped two singles ahead of the release of “All Born Screaming.”

First up, she put out the hypnotic “Broken Man,” which pits industrial instrumentals against Clark’s signature raw vocals. The song’s steady build leads to an eruption that will surely be a highlight at upcoming live shows.

Then, she unveiled “Flea” in tandem with the tour announcement. This second track is pure unbridled rock and roll complete with sultry call-and-response vocals.

If you want to catch up with Clark’s music ahead of “All Born Screaming” hitting shelves, you can find the pair of tracks here .

Every show on the run will feature an impressive opening act kicking off the evening festivities.

Kadary Richmond transfers from Seton Hall to St. John's

Former Seton Hall guard Kadary Richmond , the No. 1 player in the transfer portal, has committed to St. John's and coach Rick Pitino, he told ESPN on Tuesday.

"They were big on life after basketball and player development," Richmond said. "That stood out to me, the way they kept it real from day one. They are going to allow me to showcase my ability and become a better basketball player and person. I'd like to make a long run deep into the NCAA tournament and eventually win a national championship. I'm ready to get to work and see what Coach Pitino has in store."

Richmond visited Oklahoma over the weekend and said he also considered Syracuse , Miami and USC , but a chance for the Brooklyn native to stay close to home and play for Pitino was too much to pass up.

"Seeing what [ Knicks star] Jalen Brunson is doing for New York City right now, winning in New York is a big thing," Richmond said. "I want to be a part of that."

A 6-foot-6 point guard, Richmond immediately moved to No. 1 in ESPN's transfer rankings upon his entrance into the portal in late April. He earned first-team All-Big East honors after averaging 15.7 points, 7.0 rebounds and 5.1 assists and leading Seton Hall to an NIT championship. He had 20-plus points nine times in Big East play, including a triple-double against Creighton , when he finished with 21 points, 11 rebounds and 11 assists. In three games against Pitino and St. John's this past season, Richmond averaged 14.3 points, 8.3 rebounds and 5.0 assists.

Richmond was terrific in the postseason, posting 21 points, 13 rebounds and 5 assists in the NIT title game against Indiana State . He averaged 13.8 points, 9.4 rebounds and 6.4 assists in five NIT games.

After spending one season at Syracuse in 2020-21, Richmond transferred to Seton Hall. He started 85 games over three years, but his true breakout campaign didn't come until this past season. Richmond showed flashes of this level of production down the stretch of his 2022-23 season with the Pirates, averaging 12.6 points, 5.6 rebounds and 4.4 assists in his final eight healthy games before suffering a back injury.

"I'll always appreciate the coaching staff at Seton Hall for giving me the freedom to put myself in this position," Richmond said. "I wish them the best."

Richmond is St. John's second critical portal addition in as many days, after Utah transfer Deivon Smith committed on Monday . Smith, a 6-foot point guard, averaged 13.3 points, 6.3 rebounds and 7.1 assists this past season, ranking sixth nationally in the latter category. He also shot nearly 41% from 3-point range.

A backcourt of Richmond and Smith should be among the best in the country, combining two elite playmakers who can score in contrasting ways. It could be Pitino's best guard duo since Peyton Siva and Russ Smith led Louisville to the national championship in 2013.

"I like the additions we've put together," Richmond said. "Deivon Smith is also all about winning and making winning plays. RJ Luis is someone I've played against, he's a competitor. Same with Vincent Iwuchukwu . The pieces are aligning. I like the vision that was put together."

The band recently released ‘ Starburster ‘, the lead single of ‘Romance’. In a glowing five-star review of the track,  NME  called it the Dubliners’ “most experimental work yet” adding that Fontaines D.C. had “taken a perfect left turn” to usher in their next chapter.

It continued: “Leaning on the  Massive Attack  trip-hop noir vibes first hinted at on [2022 album]  ‘Skinty Fia’ ’s title track, ‘Starburster’ is a pensive art-rock beast that fuses elements of electronica and hip-hop more akin to their fellow striking countrymen (and  recent collaborators )  KNEECAP .”

In other news, the band are also scheduled to make appearances at  Glastonbury ,  Reading & Leeds , Pukkelpop and  Sziget  among other festivals across the season.
