Introducing Georgia and Its People

I really enjoyed this tour. It took us to Mtskheta, Kazbegi (Stepanmintsda) and the Kakheeti region. It was an intense 4 days, full of learning, discovery and amazing natural sights (mountains, rivers, streams, reservoirs etc...) and of course countless churches and monasteries. Our guide, Mr Paata made it an exceptional tour. A kind, knowledgeable and friendly man, he made sure we enjoyed the tour, adjusted it to our needs and offered suggestions on what to do and where to stay for the rest of my trip. Paata made this tour much more pleasant & memorable. Madloba Paata! I really fell in love with this beautiful country, so small yet so packed with history, natural beauty and exceptionally warm people.

What people love about Tbilisi Tours

The whole tour was great and enjoyable. I originally thought that it would be a group tour but ended up as a private tour. I was able to visit and see different places at my own pace. I didn’t have to think of others, nor rush visiting any places we've been to. Levan, my guide, was great and vey kind. He was chill the whole time. There was no pressure on going somewhere or doing activities on the places we visited. He usually brief me of the things that we’ll be doing for the day and asked me if there’s anything I want or don’t want to visit. He knows how to read the room. He chitchat and joke around when I’m up for it and leave me alone when I’m not in the mood to talk. Most of all, he let me sleep. For someone who’s been sleep deprived, the last thing I need is a super chatty guide. I also learned a lot of things from him about Georgian culture and history. Thank you Glad Travel! And of course, thanks you Levan.

Didube Bus Station in Tbilisi: Marshrutka Times, Travel Tips & Video Tour

If you’re planning to travel around Georgia using marshrutka vans – the most popular form of intercity road transport – then you’ll definitely find yourself visiting Didube Bus Station in Tbilisi at least a couple of times.

Didube is one of the main bus depots in the city. Minivans and shared taxis to popular day-trip destinations such as Mtskheta and Gori, the mountains north of Tbilisi, and destinations in western/south-western Georgia all depart from here.

Didube can be overwhelming and confusing, especially for first-time visitors .

In this quick guide, I’ll offer a few pointers for navigating the station and share schedules and fares for popular destinations.

For general tips on using marshrutka vans in Georgia, please see this post .

Travel Georgia Like a Pro

Planning a trip to Georgia? Here are 5 essential resources that I recommend you check out.

  • For private transfers in Georgia: GoTrip.ge . Find a professional, English-speaking driver. Prices are locked in when you book & you can stop wherever you want.
  • For hiring a car in Georgia: Local Rent . Save money when you rent directly from a local agent. Pick-up & drop-off are available from any address in Georgia.
  • For finding accommodations: Booking.com . This website has the biggest selection of properties in Georgia, including guesthouses in rural areas.
  • For Tbilisi tours & day trips: Friendly.ge . Friendly.ge has knowledgeable guides, safe drivers & creative itineraries. I especially like their off-road tour to David Gareja.
  • For tailored advice: Book a call with me! My Georgia Travel Consultation service is perfect if you need feedback on your itinerary or personalised travel tips.

What is Didube Bus Station?

Didube Bus Station is the main bus depot in Tbilisi servicing destinations in the north, west and south-west of the country.

It is located on the river in the north-east of Tbilisi, 8 kilometres from Freedom Square (~20 minutes by car), adjacent to Didube metro station.

There are a number of different bus companies located within Didube. Essentially it’s a big terminal with smaller separate stations nested inside. Most of these companies run marshrutka vans (micro-buses). Shared taxis are also available for many destinations.

The station complex itself is made up of several different buildings, car parks and roads. To add to the chaos, there is a busy bazaar on the same spot.

Key things to note:

  • Most signage at Didube Station is in Georgian, but popular destinations are also signposted in English. Not all drivers or station staff speak English, but you can usually get by just fine as long as you can communicate where you’re going.
  • Departure times for all routes are fixed, but it can be a challenge to find schedules online. See the next section for times and fares for popular destinations.
  • If the van fills up, the driver will depart early. That’s why it’s important to arrive 30-40 minutes ahead of time to make sure you get a seat.
  • Most ticket prices range from 5-30 GEL depending on the destination.
  • Some routes require a paper ticket purchased in advance from the designated cash desk. For other routes, you pay the driver directly.
  • Some routes are seasonal – there might be fewer vans or no vans at all during the winter low season .

Drone photo of Didube Bus Terminal in Tbilisi, Georgia.

Popular routes from Didube Bus Station

Marshrutka vans and shared taxis for the following destinations all depart from Didube. You can find additional vans/taxis to some of these places at other stations around Tbilisi as well.

  • Buses to Northern Georgia: Mtskheta; Kazbegi (Stepantsminda); Gudauri; Shatili.
  • Buses to Western Georgia: Gori; Kutaisi; Martvili; Oni (Racha); Chiatura; Zugdidi; Batumi; the Black Sea coast (Ureki, Kobuleti, Grigoleti, etc.).
  • Buses to Southern Georgia: Borjomi (for Bakuriani); Akhaltsikhe (for Vardzia).

Buses that do not depart from Didube

Buses to Eastern Georgia (Kakheti wine region), Pankisi Valley and also Svaneti and parts of southern Kvemo Kartli region do not depart from Didube.

  • Kakheti wine region (Sighnaghi & Telavi): Departs from Ortachala/Samgori/Isani – see this guide for full details .
  • Mestia (Svaneti): Departs from Navtlughi Bus Station – see this guide for details .
  • Pankisi Valley: Departs from Ortachala/Isani – see this guide for full details .
  • Tusheti: 4WD/Jeep taxis depart from Telavi & Alvani – see this guide for details .
  • Tsalka & Dashbashi Canyon: Departs from Ortachala.
  • Bolnisi & Marneuli: Departs from ‘ South Bus Station’ in Samgori.
  • International vans/buses to Armenia, Azerbaijan & Turkey: Departs from Ortachala/Avlabari metro station.

How to get to Didube Bus Terminal

Didube is easy to get to from the centre of Tbilisi by either metro or taxi .

From the city centre: Take the metro (main red line) to Didube station for 1 GEL, or take a taxi (~12 GEL from Freedom Square when booked through Bolt).

From Tbilisi Airport: Take the airport bus #337 to the end of the line at Station Square (1 GEL), then transfer to the metro and continue to Didube metro station (red line). Or take a taxi (~30 GEL when booked through Bolt).

From the railway station: Enter the metro at Station Square and take the red line travelling north to Didube metro station (1 GEL), or take a taxi (~7 GEL when booked through Bolt).

Navigating Didube Station – video tour

To see exactly where you need to go to catch your van/shared taxi, check out my Didube Bus Station video tour below. (If you don’t see the video, try turning off your ad blocker.)

Or, watch it here on YouTube .

Facilities at Didube

Public toilets.

There are several bathrooms at Didube including one on the edge of the car park where the vans to Kazbegi depart from. All are clearly signposted. Make sure you have coins on you to pay with – prices are 20-50 tetri.

Luggage storage at Didube

There is a small, unofficial baggage room on the side of the market directly opposite the area where the Kazbegi vans depart from. Consider a secure storage alternative if you’re carrying valuables.

Food & drink

There are plenty of small bakeries, coffee stands and fruit shops inside the market where you can buy hot pastries, bottled water and other snacks.

If the journey time is 2 hours or more, the driver will make a rest stop part-way. Sometimes this is done at a bakery or shop, but not always – I recommend carrying enough snacks and water to last the journey just in case.

Georgia bus fares & schedules for 2024 – popular routes from Didube

Looking for an alternative way to travel around Georgia? I personally use and recommend GoTrip.ge for affordable intercity transfers with a private driver, and Local Rent for hiring your own car. Read more about GoTrip here and see my tips for hiring a car in Tbilisi here .

There is no one centralised, current timetable for Didube that I know of, so I have decided to create my own by piecing together information from various Facebook pages and schedules posted at the station.

I try my best to keep this information accurate by visiting the bus station in person every month or so. However, things do change – fares go up, services get dropped, and in winter some vans might not run at all.

If your plans hinge on getting the right van, I strongly recommend double-checking times locally before you travel.

Oftentimes this means going to the station in person the day before. If you’re staying at a guesthouse, you might be able to ask your host to make a call .

Some popular destinations have multiple services within Didube, and fares differ slightly depending on the company you use. In this case, I’ve provided a price range.

Prices are continuously going up up up at the moment due to the rising cost of fuel. I will try my best to keep this guide updated, but you should always double-check ticket prices locally.

The information below is for direct vans. If there is no direct service available, it’s usually pretty straightforward to transfer vans. The driver will help you.

Remember that marshrutka vans can drop you off anywhere along the route. If you need to get out early, mention your destination to the driver when you board. Usually the ticket price is the same.

For safety reasons , I highly recommend you avoid travelling by marshrutka van after dark.

hey I just wanna say that your advice is amazing I’m gonna go soon to the didube station and hopefully go to gudauri but I wanted to ask about returning to tbilisi the same day how is that possible?what are the steps

Hi Grace – note the spot where you get off the van in Gudauri, ask around for the last marshrutka van departure that day, then return to the same spot when you’re ready to leave.

Hello! Do you know if there is any way to get from Kazbegi to Gori directly (using public transport) without going all the way back to Tbilisi? Or maybe by stopping off in Mtskheta to take another bus north to Gori? Thanks!

Hi Harry – there is no direct marshrutka, no. You could definitely take the Tbilisi van and get out early near Mtskheta then flag down another van from the highway, but there’s a chance you won’t get a seat. Otherwise you can book a transfer (I recommend GoTrip) or just go through Didube.

Hi! do you have any advice on getting the marshrutka to Shatili from Didube? I went to the bus station/area but couldn’t find any useful information today. so I am just hoping that if I arrive early on Saturday I’ll find the right bus…! thanks

Hi Heather – there are vans to Shatili on Wednesdays and Saturdays at 10am from Didube. They depart from the area behind the Kazbegi sign, near the Aversi pharmacy. I am not sure if the drivers speak English but here is the contact info I have: Temuri 599 27 29 04 and Irakli 555 404 599.

Have a safe journey!

Hello. First of all, your website is amazing. I’m finding so much detailed information I’ll be using during my trip to Georgia. I’m writing you because I cannot find any information about sending bags from a place to another place inside Georgia. I’ll leave Tbilisi by plane to Mestia and I’d like to send my bag (2 big bags) to the hotel I’ll be staying in Kutaisi. Information offices don’t have a solutions, do you maybe have any suggestions about this, please? Sorry to disturb you with that. Thank you. Regards. Paolo from Italy

Hi Paolo, thanks so much!

The local way to do this is by putting your bags on a marshrutka van, but you need someone (I guess your host in Kutaisi) to be there to meet them at the other end. You could use DHL – I regularly receive packages from Tbilisi to Kutaisi, they have great service and their office is quite central. But I’m not sure of the prices, it could end up being expensive.

Sorry I don’t have a clear solution for you – perhaps you could also ask your host in Kutaisi and see if they have any suggestions? Best of luck!

Moscow Metro

The Moscow Metro Tour is included in most guided tours’ itineraries. Opened in 1935, under Stalin’s regime, the metro was not only meant to solve transport problems, but also was hailed as “a people’s palace”. Every station you will see during your Moscow metro tour looks like a palace room. There are bright paintings, mosaics, stained glass, bronze statues… Our Moscow metro tour includes the most impressive stations best architects and designers worked at - Ploshchad Revolutsii, Mayakovskaya, Komsomolskaya, Kievskaya, Novoslobodskaya and some others.

What is the kremlin in russia?

The guide will not only help you navigate the metro, but will also provide you with fascinating background tales for the images you see and a history of each station.

And there some stories to be told during the Moscow metro tour! The deepest station - Park Pobedy - is 84 metres under the ground with the world longest escalator of 140 meters. Parts of the so-called Metro-2, a secret strategic system of underground tunnels, was used for its construction.

During the Second World War the metro itself became a strategic asset: it was turned into the city's biggest bomb-shelter and one of the stations even became a library. 217 children were born here in 1941-1942! The metro is the most effective means of transport in the capital.

There are almost 200 stations 196 at the moment and trains run every 90 seconds! The guide of your Moscow metro tour can explain to you how to buy tickets and find your way if you plan to get around by yourself.

Saratoga: america’s turning point presents women in war symposium & bus tour.

America’s Turning Point is a multi-year celebration of Saratoga County’s pivotal role in the American Revolution. (Emma Ralls - Medianews Group file)

SCHUYLERVILLE, N.Y. — The Saratoga County 250th Commission recently announced the third Annual Women in War Symposium will be held on May 4, from 8:15 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Old Saratoga American Legion Post, located at 6 Clancy St.

As an enhancement to the Symposium, a bus tour of historic sites will be offered on May 5.

General registration for the symposium is $130 and includes a light breakfast and buffet lunch. The guided bus tour is $75 and includes a box lunch.  Those interested can register for both the symposium and tour or just one event by visiting the Saratoga250 website, www.saratoga250.com/events/annual-women-in-war-symposium .

The Women in War Symposium features dynamic speakers who will present on topics related to the roles women played during the American Revolution. Whether patriot or loyalist, wealthy or impoverished, females were deeply affected by the war in all aspects of their lives. Additionally, exhibitors, book-signings, augmented reality demonstrations and more will be on display throughout the day.

Departing from the beautiful Saratoga National Historical Park Visitor Center, Sunday’s event will be a thoughtfully curated tour with returning expert guide Pat Niles. The tour will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., highlighting several lesser-known stories of women in the Saratoga Campaign.

“Carrying momentum from last year’s successful event, we are excited to announce five new speakers who will discuss recent scholarship related to the variety of roles women played in the American Revolution,” Lauren Roberts, Saratoga County Historian and Chair of the Saratoga County 250th Commission said via release. “The new venue will offer larger space while still located in the historic Village of Schuylerville. We encourage history buffs to sign up today for this fun and educational event.”

Speakers will include:

• Christine T. Valosin: Revolutionary War Women at Schuyler’s Saratoga Estate, 1775 – 1783

• Friederike Baer: With the Battle of Saratoga our Misfortunes Began, Friederike Riedesel in the War for American Independence

• Vincent Albert Carretta: Phillis Wheatley Peters on War and Peace

• Elizabeth Mauer: Martha Washington Goes to Camp

• Holly A. Mayer: Taking Fire: Margaret Corbin at Fort Washington

• Bruce M. Venter: Head of Faculty and Master of Ceremonies

America’s Turning Point is a multi-year celebration of Saratoga County’s pivotal role in the American Revolution culminating in 2027 with the 250th anniversary of the Battles of Saratoga.

1 dead, several injured in Honolulu after shuttle bus crashes outside cruise terminal

tbilisi tour bus

One person has died and multiple people were injured in a shuttle bus crash in Honolulu , Hawaii on Friday.

"Nine Carnival Miracle guests were hit by a shuttle bus in the transportation area outside the Honolulu cruise terminal on Friday morning," Matt Lupoli, senior manager of the Carnival Cruise Line , told USA TODAY. "Sadly, one guest has died from her injuries. She was traveling with her husband, who was also injured and is expected to recover."

The shuttle bus crashed into pedestrians and two concrete barriers at the terminal. The shuttle bus driver mistakenly stepped on the gas pedal instead of the break when they attempted to stop the bus from moving, Hawaii News Now reported.

All of the victims were taken to local hospitals and are being treated for their injuries. The victims are in different conditions ranging from serious to stable, the news outlet said.

"Members of the Carnival Care Team are assisting the guests. Our thoughts are with the guests affected and their loved ones," Lupoli said.

USA TODAY has reached out to the  Honolulu Police Department and the Honolulu Emergency Medical Services for comment.

1 dead, 13 injured: After man crashes truck into Texas Department of Public Safety building

Eyewitnesses share their experience after the Honolulu shuttle bus crash, reports state

Eyewitness told KITV Island News that the relaxing Friday morning turned deadly after the shuttle bus crash.

"We heard the tire of a vehicle screeching," Lillian Le, a visitor from Denver told the broadcast station. "We looked and it was a bus running over people and hit against a wall."

An employee at the complex said he has never experienced this before.

"We saw the first responders coming, it was substantial, probably about 10 a.m., four or five ambulances, two fire trucks, ten cop cars, looked pretty bad - it's really distressing," Mark Elwell, an employee at the complex wher the accident occurred. "I've worked here 21 years, I've never seen anything to this magnitude, really sad to see, obviously people were hurt pretty bad to be taken away by ambulance."

Jessica Lani Rich, a visitor at the Aloha Society of Hawaii told KITV Island News that the woman who died was celebrating her 46th wedding anniversary with her husband.

Sir Paul McCartney’s Wings tour bus could fetch up to £200,000 at auction

A bus once used by Sir Paul McCartney during the 1972 Wings Over Europe tour is going under the hammer at auction.

The eye-catching double-decker bus was used by Sir Paul and Linda McCartney, as well as the rest of Wings, to travel more than 7,500 miles across nine countries and 25 cities during the summer of 1972 – with its psychedelic colour scheme ensuring nobody missed it wherever it went.

Completely and faithfully restored to its original heyday condition, the bus features wooden bunk beds, bright yellow colours and a bespoke cover for the upper deck which features “1972 Wings Tour Bus” graphics.

The top deck itself has been engineered as a performance space – now referred to as The McCartney Stage.

Sold by Car and Classic via online auction, the bus could fetch up to £200,000 by the time the hammer falls. The auction is set to run from April 22-29.

The bus is accompanied by artefacts and memorabilia donated by founding Wings member Danny Seiwell, while an official licence permits the use of artwork, logos and the names of both Paul and Linda McCartney.

Dale Vinten, Car & Classic head of editorial, said: “Just as [John] Lennon’s Rolls-Royce and the notable cars of other Beatles members carry the weight of history, tour buses tell a different story, and bear witness to the behind-the-scenes magic that fuels the onstage brilliance.

“This essence is perfectly encapsulated in the Wings tour bus, still adorned in its psychedelic colours, and restored to how it would’ve been when the McCartneys and the rest of the band toured Europe over the summer of 72.”

The Best Tours of Buckingham Palace

A tour of Buckingham Palace is a must-do on your next London vacation.

On a visit to London , some of the top attractions are linked to the royal family. But nothing is quite as iconic as a visit to the one of the three official residences of the monarchy – Buckingham Palace . While it's only open to the public on select dates, you can relish in its beauty from the regal gates, snap a selfie and catch a Changing the Guard ceremony.

How to Tour Buckingham Palace

For about 10 weeks every summer (select dates from July 11 to Sept. 29, 2024), Buckingham Palace opens its elaborate gates, welcoming visitors to explore its lavish State Rooms, grounds and Royal Collection artworks. The Royal Mews is also open to visitors from March to October, showcasing the Royal Family's real working stables and ornate, historic carriages – including the Gold State Coach used for Queen Elizabeth II's Platinum Coronation in 2022.

The Best Sightseeing Tours of Buckingham Palace

If you aren't here at the right time, fear not; this extravagant, 18th-century royal residence is just as impressive from the outside, making it worth a visit any time of year. Come on a Monday, Wednesday, Friday or Sunday morning to see the Changing the Guard ceremony – when the red-and-black-clad Royal Guard marches toward the palace, accompanied by striking military music – and see a tradition that's been running for more than 300 years. Combine it with explorations in the surrounding area of Westminster to see London at its most quintessential.

You can explore all of this independently, of course – but if you're looking to dig a little deeper, hear about the king's coronation and uncover local secrets, consider a guided London tour . Insider experts can point out the best photo spots, take you to the must-see sights and show you the ins and outs of the area while sharing  knowledge of the country's royal history along the way.

There are tons of options out there, so where do you start? Based on local knowledge and traveler review sites, here are some of the most highly rated tours.

Changing of the Guard Walking Tour

Tourists and domestic visitors at Buckingham Palace watch in huge numbers as Changing of the Guard takes place. (Photo by Mike Kemp/In Pictures via Getty Images)

Price: From $13

Duration: 2 to 3 hours

Standout perk: Witness the pomp of the iconic Changing the Guard ceremony.

Watch the Royal Guard march toward Buckingham Palace as you witness this historic, quintessentially British spectacle on a two-hour tour of Westminster's highlights. Accompanied by a military band, you'll see the Old Guard (soldiers on duty) switch to the New Guard as they arrive at the palace from Wellington Barracks. Your guide will explain which regiment is which, before taking you on a guided walking tour past other world-famous, attractions, including Big Ben, Clarence House, the Houses of Parliament , St James's Palace and Westminster Abbey .

Recent travelers gave high ratings to the tour, saying guides were able to take them to the best photo spots for the ceremony, while offering a wealth of historical and entertaining insight.

Tours leave at 10 a.m. and depart from the corner of Piccadilly and Arlington Street (between The Ritz and The Wolseley), ending at Parliament Square.

Local tip: Look at the Horse Guards Clock on the Horse Guards Parade – the official entrance to Buckingham Palace and St James's Palace – to see a dark stain above the 2 (II, in Roman numerals). It marks the time King Charles I was executed outside the Palace of Whitehall in 1649, after being charged with treason.

Windsor Castle & Buckingham Palace Tour

Price: From $164

Duration: 8.5 hours

Standout perk: Get a rare chance to explore the State Rooms with Buckingham Palace tickets, and tick off two of the United Kingdom's grandest royal residences in one day.

This twin-castle tour offers the opportunity to enter Buckingham Palace and see its State Rooms, Royal Collection artwork and other treasures, with commentary from an audio guide. After you've toured the palace, you'll travel by coach about 25 miles west of London to Windsor Castle – the oldest and largest occupied castle in the world, and the family home of the monarchy for more than 900 years. Explore the castle's lavish State Apartments and grounds, and visit St George's Chapel – the burial place of Queen Elizabeth II alongside many other monarchs, and the spot where Prince Harry married Meghan Markle. Recent travelers said the tour was a great opportunity to see inside both palaces. Several commented on the extensive art collection at Buckingham Palace, and many enjoyed hearing insights from the guides, although some complained about long lines. The tour takes place from July through September on select Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays, and leaves from Victoria Coach Station at 7:45 a.m. Local tip: Windsor Castle has its own Changing the Guard ceremony, as well as its own extensive art collection – the ceremony takes place at 11 a.m. on select days of the week.

Full-day London with Changing of the Guard and Private Cruise

The illuminated Millennium Wheel (or London Eye) at night.

Price: From $158; with optional London Eye or Harrods cream tea for an additional fee

Duration: 9 hours

Standout perk: You'll see many of London's key attractions in one day, and enjoy a river cruise thrown in for good measure.

If you want to combine a visit to see Buckingham Palace's Changing the Guard ceremony with stops at several other London spots, this is a great choice. The full-day trip begins at the UNESCO listed Tower of London where you'll have the chance to see the crown jewels.

From here you'll visit Buckingham Palace to witness the famous pomp and pageantry of the ceremony, and get the chance to admire the palace's impressive architecture from the outside. The day includes a tour of the elaborate St. Paul's Cathedral (not available on Sundays), before embarking on a boat tour of the Thames, passing key attractions including Tower Bridge and Shakespeare's Globe. The day also includes a photo stop at Westminster Abbey, where Prince William and Kate Middleton married in 2011, and a brief walking tour of Parliament Square. Travelers can choose to add a ride on the famous London Eye observation wheel (or opt for a quintessentially British cream tea at Harrods instead).

Recent travelers loved the tour and praised the guides as highly knowledgeable and entertaining. Many were impressed with how much they saw in a day and said it gave them a great introduction to London (although it's worth noting a few felt there was quite a bit of walking involved).

Tours leave from Victoria Coach Station at 7:45 a.m. and finish at the London Eye.

Local tip: If you fancy delving deeper into the Tower of London in your own time, book a ticket to see the Ceremony of the Keys. Dating back seven centuries, this nightly ceremony is when the castle gets locked up for the night, with a special exchange between the sentry and Yeoman Warder taking place at 9:30 p.m. between the atmospheric battlements – both eerie and magical.

The London Essentials Bike Tour

The exterior of Kensington Palace with the bronze statue of William III of Orange. (Photo by Peter Dazeley/Getty Images)

Price: From $38

Duration: 3.5 hours

Standout perk: Get active on two wheels, and combine a Buckingham Palace stop with a visit to Kensington Palace and other royal sights.

This half-day guided cycling tour is a great option to get active on your London trip. You'll start at Kensington Gardens – the home of Kensington Palace, where Princess Diana lived with the now King Charles, and Queen Victoria's birthplace. From here, pedal to the Royal Albert Hall to check out this elaborate concert hall, opened by Queen Victoria in 1871. Afterward, cycle through Hyde Park and on to Green Park to reach Buckingham Palace, where your guide will regale you with little-known stories about the palace. Continue on to Trafalgar Square, Westminster Abbey, the Houses of Parliament and Big Ben as you take in some of the capital's key highlights, before returning to the Royal Parks.

Recent travelers raved about the tour and were really impressed by the knowledge of the guide. Many enjoyed the small group size and said the cycling was a good, leisurely pace, with plenty to see along the way, and iced tea and snacks included as a bonus.

The tour leaves from outside the main entrance at Hilton London Hyde Park. The recommended minimum age is 9 – you can pre-book junior bikes and child seats. While the bicycle and helmet for use during the tour are included, attraction entry fees are additional.

Local tip: If you've got time after the tour, it's well worth exploring Kensington Palace a bit more. Admire the elaborate, Georgian-era King's Staircase and the King's State Gallery with its fine art collection, see the Queen's State Apartments where Mary II would come to relax or welcome guests, and visit the Sunken Garden, once a favorite spot of Princess Diana's. After, enjoy afternoon tea or lunch at the Kensington Palace Pavilion amid the gardens.

The Premier Classic London: Private 4-Hour Tour in a Black Cab

The Houses of Parliament and Big Ben across the River Thames at sunset.

Price: From $461

Duration: 4 hours

Standout perk: You'll see many of London's must-see attractions, and as it's a private tour, you can tailor the trip to your liking.

If you're after a private tour, this half-day trip in a classic London black cab is just the ticket.

You can choose to align your visit to Buckingham Palace with a Changing the Guard ceremony, and you'll get expert commentary from your personal taxi driver, who's also a registered tour guide. Alongside the palace, you'll pass must-see points including the Houses of Parliament, Downing Street, St James's Palace, the Tower of London, Piccadilly Circus, Shakespeare's Globe, Borough Market and Covent Garden , with options to stop along the way.

Recent travelers loved the tour and said guides were able to tailor the trip, stopping at spots both on and off the tourist trail and offering plenty of historical insight.

Your driver-guide can pick you up and drop you off at your hotel; or a central London location.

Local tip: Make a stop at Borough Market to try some of the best food in the city, with more than 100 stalls offering everything from Persian to Italian, alongside plenty of fresh produce.
