The Tour EZ is fast as stated, in fact surprisingly fast. It is an easy pedal and fairly easy to get used to. It's very quiet and smooth on the shifts. Braking is positive and appropriately firm. On longer rides it's far more comfortable than leaning on a pair of bars. This is a fun well-built bike and definitely worth the price in quality. The resale value is excellent

As stated by others this is a long frame bike. It simply doesn't do tight turns very well. It takes up a fair amount of space and is not that easy to transport even with the front wheel off. The smaller front wheel "feel" can be "interesting" especially at the speeds it's capable of. This bike and some other recumbents are definitely slower from a dead stop than traditional bikes because of not being able to apply your weight firmly down on the pedals. For that reason I'd not recommend it as a routine city commuter for safety reasons. Definitely test ride in city traffic if you are considering that use.

fast,comfortable,capable, w/good resale value

LONG,(hard to haul & store). You could call it a "slow" climber, but you'll be riding (& training) more than you ever dreamed possible, so you'll be constantly improving!

I just rolled over 3,800 miles on The T.E. this week, all since January '99. It is my favorite bike for my 13 mile daily R.T.C. Upright seating is good for night riding, & it is visible in traffic (for a 'bent). There is a huge following for this bike, & it's easy too see why. Staying up on club rides is no problem, something I could never do on my BikeE.I recommend the Rapid fire upgrade over stock grip shift, & the Kool-Back seat outsells the cobra 3 to 1. The fairing is a bit much for a new rider to take, but there's nothing in the upright world that you can bolt on your bike, & get a 25% speed improvement! HAPPY SHOPPING!

VERRRRRYYYYY COMFORTABLE!!! You can ride for miles at a fast or slow speed and always remain relaxed. You get to see the nice scenery around while riding. You will always be seen by people because it is so unusual. After riding long distances when you get off the bike it takes only a short time to recover if any time at all.No soreness(unless you over do it the first couple of time)very comfortable seat, arms are relaxed while riding. You FLYYYY down hills.

It will take a little time and riding to get to be pretty fast.Train by spinning up hills and you will get better in no time. You need a lot of space to store one. It really is expensive for a bike, but they seem to have a very good resale value because the classifieds constantly show people wanting to buy one.

This is one great bike. I ride the Bianchi alot but when you get tired you are stuck on top of a bike that hurts after a while. When you get tired on the easy racer you take it easy pedaling while still riding and you don't have to stop.BUUUUTTTTT... it takes a little time to develope god leg muscle to ride this bike well, when you get conditioned to it though boy can you really fly. Also easy racers company is the best in customer service. A screw came broken on my bike and I was quickly sent acouple of new ones. I you do get one subscribe to the easy racers recumbent club it is a rally nice magazine. This bike is very good for people who want to get or stay in shape but don't like the pain that goes with sitting on a upright's thin seat.If you could get a good used one go for it...

I have not totally gone to recumbents I ride mountain bikes and Bianchi Giro road bike.

Very well made, comfortable, fast, elegant. The coolback seat is so comfortable, you may want to roll it into your living room when watching the tube! A very stable ride at all speeds. You can just tell when you take this baby out of the box, that nothing has been overlooked. It even included an instructional video to aid in assembly. Easy Racers takes great pride when they make one of these machines...and it shows! I find the bottom bracket height to be at an optimal position for getting the feet to the ground in traffic stops. In addition, there is a loyal fraternity of Easy Racers followers who are always happy to talk about their experiences. You will get a magazine for the club with your bike.

I don't really consider it a weakness, but, from the standpoint of transporting it, it is big. However, I didn't buy it to transport it, I bought it to transport me, so it is not a problem. I use a hitch-mounted, flat, basket-type carrier that I mounted a fork attachment to. Spin the handlebars backwards, mount it on the carrier, and I only get about 9 inches of my rear wheel sticking out past the back of my full-size van- acceptable.

What can I say...see "strengths" above. It is a great machine! It may cost more than some, but sometimes "you get what you pay for" is accurate.

I had a SWB recumbent, but liked the stable feeling of the Tour Easy- especially while cars are zooming by.

Thanks for your observations about velos. Thinking of the possibility for myself.

Feel free to give Mark a call (720 560 1178) to chat about it if you’d like, Peter. He sure enjoyed his velomobile! Thanks, Renge’, BRC

I have a used Gekko 20” wheels blue with carrier rack extra tires, tubes and sun shade. Mega range gearing. For sale Excellent condition. Can provide pictures. Northeast California.

Hi, Richard. If you would like to bring that up to consign it with us after mid March, we would be interested. We do not purchase used recumbents outright. Thanks, Mark. (720) 560-1178

Hello, I wanted to get a quote on Azub 700 mountain bike frame set. With under frame steering and the high end seat.

Hi, Trace. Please give Mark a call (720) 560-1178 for a quote! He values making sure you’re getting the best configuration for your needs. Thanks, Renge’

Do you have fat tire folding electric recumbent tirkes

What is the current pricing structure for a 20/26 Wild One? Will you ship to PR (00725)?

The Wild One 20/26 msrp is $5995 plus whatever shipping would run to Puerto Rico. Give us a call if you want to order one. I believe they are in stock at the US warehouse.

Hello i try to buy trikes but when i press on view cart .. there is problem with that page

Hi there. We have the cart disabled because we’ve found it’s important to speak directly with our customers to ensure they purchase the correct recumbent for their needs. Please give Mark a call after the weekend at(720)560-1178–or email us at [email protected] to speak further about what you’re looking for. Thanks so much, Renge’, BRC

Thanks for your reply! I will contact Mark with further questions.

Hi there. Sorry for the inconvenience. We sell only in person or over the phone so that we can offer customers guidance to the best recumbent for their needs. Please call if you’d like to discuss further. Thanks, Mark (720) 560-1178

Do you sell ebikes?

Hi, Claire. We are a recumbent-specific cycle shop—no bikes, sorry!

I am interested in the RANS Alterra, however have some questions: 1. Why does it come in wheel sizes 26 or 29? For me (5′ 11″, 175 lbs) a 27.5 diameter wheel seems about right; 2. Have you considered, or would you consider, an internal hub such as the Rohloff 14; .3 I am in Salt Lake City, UT. Would you consider working with a bike shop here such as Wasatch Touring? I am looking for a bike that can climb on road or gravel, but no extreme trails. Thanks

Hi, Christopher—so sorry we missed your message. RANS hasn’t made those in years and we can’t get them. If you haven’t come up with an alternative in the meantime, please give us a call for some suggestions. Mark is always happy to try to help find the right fit for people. Off the top of his head, he suggests checking out the HP Velotechnik Grasshopper and any of the AZUB recumbent bikes. (720) 560-1178. Thanks, Renge’, BRC

Hello, our team is looking to make some purchases from you within the next 10 days can you kindly have the sales manager email us as soon as possible as we will like to get some answers to some purchase questions we have.

Hi, Rayna. Give us a call please: (720) 560-1178 Thanks, Mark, BRC

Looking for an ICE Adventure – Used – folding, full suspension. Interested in test rides – days/hours ? Thank you, cae

Hi there! Please give Mark a call at (720) 560-1178. He’s the go-to person for all the details about trikes, as well as to make appointments to test ride. Thanks, Renge’, BRC

Do you guys ship? Are the Azub’s able to put a 26” on the back? Thank you!

Hi, Kerry. Depends on what you’re talking about, shipping-wise. And Azub makes multiple models—it also depends! Please give me a call if you’d like more information. Thanks, Mark (720) 560-1178

Sorry about the typo, that should be FOLDIING HINGE. Don

Disregard, After no answer from you I gave up and ordered my hinge directly from Azub. It’s on the way. Don

Hello, I have a Azub T Tris 26 Trike that was purchased from your business. I was wondering if you had the golfing hing available for this and if so how much it would cost me. I love the bike. I live in the Willamette Valley or I would just come in and ask. Thanks for any info.

Hi, Don. I apologize, thought I had responded to you, but don’t see the response here. Glad you sorted it out yourself. Cheers, Mark

I recall the beloved Schwinn I learned to ride at age five. Bike choices change with time and there have been many through the years. Now in my 70’s I needed something age appropriate and Mark at Backcountry Cycles offered a suggestion. I am so happy with my choice and grateful for Mark’s ability to patiently listen to my needs and match me up with the perfect trike. Throughout the transaction communication was excellent.

As they say, “There is a woman behind . . . ” Beautiful Renge was so helpful in making sure I knew how everything worked and that details were completed.

Thanks to Backcountry Cycles, Mark and Renge, I am looking forward to riding many more years to come.

It was a pleasure to work with you, Linda! Thanks so much for the kind review. Let us know if you need anything. Mark & Renge’, BRC

Hello: I am very interested in purchasing this bike – THE TRIDENT SPIKE – this week – I was wondering if I could put 650 or so down now and the rest in June? Please let me know. Thanks. PD

_______________ Pat Daly 8191 DEER CHASE LANE CHESAPEAKE BEACH, MD 20732 240.925.7462 [email protected]

Hi, Pat. Please give me a call at (720) 560-1178 Thanks,

Hello Mark, I have read your comments on different posts about touring the Great Divide. Years back you shipped me an Azub fat trike which you then sold on consignment. Any new thoughts? The Azub six sounds good but I am a weak climber and I like the trike ability to stop and start on a hill. I occasionally get bouts of being a little dizzy so a bicycle sometimes is precarious. I am having a Priority 600x shipped to me which I liked 2nd to the Pinion and belt drive but has all the problems of an upright comfort primarily neck should but trouble climbing hills. Thank you for your thoughts. Doug

Hi, Doug. Give me a call if you’d like to talk specifics (720) 560-1178. Otherwise, I don’t think a recumbent bike is going to be a great solution for you with those conditions you mentioned, particularly balance issues. That being said, yesterday we got to test ride the SteinTrike Wild One and now are dealers for them. The 4” of suspension gravel, the 20” wheel version has exceptional traction for a tadpole trike, and it is going to be my go-to for off-pavement trike packing tours this year. They are as a good of quality as anything else out there. Other manufacturers are out 3 mos+ in delivery time, whereas we can get Steintrikes much quicker. The Steintrike Wild One is much faster and lighter than the AZUB Fat. Thanks, Mark https://stein-trikes-us.com/

Hi you guys…..Chuck is in love with the ICE trike. Kinda looking for another less expensive trike for me. Interested in the GT1 on consignment. Also another one by Trident that is about $1300. Let us know if it is still available….and how long it would take to get the Trident foldable. (Spike?)

Hi, Nora! So sorry for the delay—-we’ve been on a work road trip and then needed a little recovery time. Glad to head Chuck is loving the ICE! Mark will call you today about other options for you. Cheers! Renge’, BRC

Mark Just a thank you for your information on Trikes and to stay connected. If by chance a VTX comes up used let me know. Thanks Chris KULTBIKE LTD

Hey, Chris. Thanks for the chat. In case I didn’t make it clear earlier—-the VTX really is still the Vortex. ICE just changed the name for a rebrand after making a couple of little changes that essentially do not affect performance at all. Also, the Vortex in the shop has an $800 Schlumpf drive. You would save about $2k over getting the same thing in a new VTX. Thanks, Mark (720) 560-1178

I’m interested in buying Azub Ti-Fly. Is it 2020 model?

Hi, Mark. Mark Waters here. Please give me a call—I’m happy to talk recumbents with you. (720) 560-1178

Do you have the full fat and other fat wheeled trikes to test ride?

Hi, Wade. We do not currently have the full fat in the shop. We do have two Sun fat trikes presently with tons of component upgrades. Give us a call if you’d like to make an appointment to give them a test ride or talk recumbents. Thanks, Mark (720) 560-1178

Hello. I am interested in having more info on both the Magnum and the Adventure (year, accessories, suspension on Ice?,XL Magnum or not, mileage if known, anything else you think is of interest). Thanks, I know you are probably busy, appreciate your time. Erica Leigh

Hi, Erica. I’m sorry, but both of those trikes have sold already. We do do a pretty active consignment business, so I recommend that you give Mark a call after Thursday, (720) 560-1178, to discuss your needs. We could perhaps keep an eye out for an incoming trike that’s on your shortlist. We are camping until Thursday but I just happen to have a signal right now. You are also welcome to email us your wishlist: [email protected] Thanks, Renge’

Is the Greenspeed Magnum still available, and if so, can you ship? (Also, is this just a regular Magnum or a Magnum XL?)

Hi, Laurie! Sounds like you’ve already connected with Mark and have a plan to speak next week, but here’s his phone number just in case: (720) 560-1178 and our email: [email protected] Thanks, Renge’

Do you have the Titan in stock? Thank you

Hi, Steve. No, we don’t have a Titan on hand, sadly, and Trident is backed up ‘til midsummer or later. If you’re looking for a trike built for a larger person, we do have a Greenspeed Magnum on consignment in the shop. Please give Mark a call for more information: (720) 560-1178 Thanks, Renge, BRC

Do you ship to Australia?

Hi, Shane. I’m so sorry for the delay. No, I don’t think there’s an affordable way for us to shop to Australia. Do you know the Greenspeed recumbent line, which is made in Australia? They are one of the top recumbent lines in the world and well worth looking into if you haven’t. Thanks, Renge’, BRC

Whats the Canadian price on Ice Adventure

IGH and suspension.

Hi, there. We don’t ship to Canada, unfortunately. Unless you’d like to come down and pick the trike up, I’d suggest you contact one of our friendly competitors up north in LeDuc: renucycle.net Larry Hager: (780) 986-2729 Thanks, Renge’, BRC

What tire options are available for the Azub Max 24?

Thanks for your time.

Hi, Christopher. Please give Mark a call to discuss your cycling needs—he recommends the 26” for greater options. (720) 560-1178 Thanks, Renge’, BRC

Interesting! The condition? The year? The price? Well balanced? I am 82 and have to get to a lower level for balance.

Hi, Eugene. Please give Mark a call to discuss the cycle you’re interested in—I’m not clear from your message. (720) 560-1178 Thanks, Renge’, BRC

I have recently acquired an Azub 6 frame and will be needing several of the bits and parts. Can you provide these? I need the seat hardware and possibly the rear shock to start.

Hi, Roy. Please give me a call to discuss exactly what you need. Thanks, Mark (720) 560-1178

My wife and I recently demoed trikes at Seattle trike and RPDX in Portland. I’ve been riding a Cannondale Easy Rider since 2002 and like the recumbent feeling, easy on the back, butt and wrists. I think our favorite was the ICE Adventure HD FS. My wife couldn’t get over how fun they were! That ergo luxe seat makes a long day a piece of cake! Is it true that ICE will be coming out with a boom for us boomers that can accept assist in the future? We have our RV in storage in Redmond and will be down late March to continue our voyage of the US.

Really like your review on the AZUB 6. Have you tested models with the OSS ( above seat steering)? All my recumbents have been that configuration. But I am so tempted by the AZUB 6 with USS, even though I have never tried any recumbent with USS. If you have tested both configuration would you comment on the major handling differences, advantages and disadvantages you have found? Thanks so much for your different reviews.

Excellent machine, and the 2″ wider track of the HD model makes it even more stable in turns.

Yes, indeed—that’s true! Stability, slightly stronger frame for off-road durability, and a 2”-wider seat. Cheers!

Could you please send me information on Gekko fx 26, such as age, tires, gearing set up, does it fold or not? Also more photos if you have them. Thanks.

this is what i want to do..i need a mentor! I am looking for folks to learn from so I can get started down this path of recumbent touring!

what is the PayPal name I should send the $ to?

Hello …I spoke to mark on the phone about the Bionx assist on the black Gold Rush… $400. for it………Split shipping to me at Norm Simpson 24 walker street Lincoln R.I. 02865 will send $400. thru Paypall

My wife and I ordered an ICE Adventure after talking to Mark many times. I can’t emphasize enough Mark’s vast recumbent knowledge and his willingness to share made decision to purchase thru Backcountry a no brainer. I called many recumbent shops and NOBODY was even close to being in Mark’s league! Mark helped to clarify many aspects of ‘trike vs bike’ giving us the confidence to go with a trike WITHOUT EVER EVEN RIDING one! That’s how good Mark is!! I had no doubts it was the right decision for my wife’s new ride! While waiting for the factory order to be completed, we happened to find an ICE Adventure on CL with Rohloff gearing – too good of a deal to pass up!! So instead of just a new ride for my wife, now we each got to have a recumbent trike – SCORE!!!!! We are now a couple of months into triking and couldn’t be happier! Riding a trike is like being in a sports car with how fun it handles! I love the fact that now I don’t have to wear any special bike shorts to reduce ‘saddle soreness’ because on a trike – NOTHING HURTS when done riding! And no more Ibuprofen required after a ride! I’m liken’ triken”!!!! Thank you Mark for showing us the light and giving us the confidence to hope on board!!! We have now purchased a Hitchrider Double-Decker and are looking forward to taking our trikes on our next camping adventure! Fun, fun, fun!!!!

Thanks for the kind comments, Peter! Glad you’re having fun together on your trikes—that Is a score. Don’t forget we offer lifetime free maintenance on any recumbents purchased from us, so the next time you’re on a road trip out our way! Cheers. Mark, BRC

Hi Mark, I am coming to bend next week. I am interested in trying a recumbent trike. I have ALS and can no longer ride a two wheeled bike safely. I will probably stop by wed.

Up until 2015 I was a recumbent rider for 5 years. My first unit was a Catrike Expedition, then I changed to a Catrike 700. Then I was hit by a car and wrote off the trike. So I then got another Catrike 700. But I was spooked from the accident and decided to quit riding. Over the past 2 years I have been getting the urge to ride again but now I am more interested in the ICE VTX. But right now I was wondering if you come across any used ICE VTX trikes?

Hi, Keith. Unfortunately, I have never seen a used VTX. And we have only had two used Vortexes over the years, one of which is actually available in the shop. Give me a call if you’d like to speak further about it. As I was just informing another VTX hunter, there are only a couple of very minor changes that accompanied the name rebrand. Thanks, Mark, BRC (720) 560-1178

Good day-Do you have a Trident Stowaway I in stock in the box ready to ship? Their si a big possibility that I would like to buy it from you. What would be the final price to include shipping to me?

Hi, Jim! Sorry, but we can’t ship Tridents. If you can make it up to Central Oregon, we are happy to order and assemble it for you. Give us a call if you’d like to discuss further. Thanks, Mark (720) 560-1178

Hi. We spoke months ago about riding the GDMBR with an Azub 6. (Thanks!) I was able to find a used one here on the east coast.

I seem to recall your mentioning someone having a good solution for carrying extra water in the Expedition Rack. If so, could you please remind me what worked for them? Thanks so much.

Does the above price for the Azub 6 include mudguards and rear rack as set up in the picture?

Greenspeed Anura carried in a Tesla.

Do you have any cat trikes in stock? Would you be willing to open on a Monday or Tuesday?

Hi, Shelly! So sorry, your email didn’t come through via our email and I’m just seeing this note now. Yes, we have a number of catrikes in stock–anything in particular you’re looking for? And yes, we do by appointment as needed–are you planning a trip through the Bend area? Please give us a call directly to facilitate a conversation–Mark Waters, (720) 560-1178 Thanks!

Hello BRC, Is the Ranger still being produced or offered for sale? If not, what is comparable to it? Thanks, Steve

Hi, Steve. Lightfoot is out of business. We had a Ranger in the shop, which we got in to try out. Frankly, it was an atrocious bike off-road! Imo, going to the RANS Alterra or the Azub Max is a much better choice for off-road riding. Give me a call if you’d like to talk further—Mark (720) 560-1178

The Catrike 700 may be the fastest recumbent trike available, certainly the fastest for under $3000.

Your recommendations please. I have a villagers w/ hubmotor in our winter grounds. I like it but some trouble in the desert. I’m thinking light weight, folding, off road with a lunacycle two speed hub for stealth and low speed crawl. Needs to go on the airlines. What do you think? Thanks Dale Alaska

Hi, Dale! Could you give us a call tomorrow afternoon when we are in the shop? I’d be happy to talk with you about that, but it’s a somewhat complex conversation that’d be better over the phone. Thanks, Mark Waters, BRC (720) 560-1178

I havn’t had a car for 26 years. I taught special ed high school students for 40 yrs. I retired 1 1/2 years ago. I rode to work everyday sun, snow or rain. I had raced for some, but my love is touring and getting out for long rides. I recently had a bike accident where I fracture C-2 vertibrae and can’t ride , I bought a used tour easy recently and had to put padding in the seat. I have put on 200 miles in last week and half. I find hills are difficult and stop signs where I have to start on uphill gradient. I’m looking for 2 wheel touring bike that I can put panniers on and be able to put on airplane. Any help would be much appreciated. I’m 68 years old. A good ride is a souldance, and all rides or good. Bill

Hi, Bill! Sorry for the delay in responding–we don’t get many comments directly on the website. We’d be happy to give you any support and advice we can–why don’t you give us a call? Mark will be happy to help–he’s a long-time cycle tourist and recumbent lover! (720)560-1178 Cheers! Renge’

I want to buy USED OR REFURBISHED tadpole RECUMBENT TRIKE FOR AROUND $400

Hey, Charley! Give us a call and we’ll see what we’ve got in consignments by then–thanks. (720) 560-1178 Mark

I will be in your area this summer and would like to come in, and possibly buy a new ride!

Give us a call–we’d love to see you! (541) 323-3460 Mark

I have my “idea ” of wanting to go fast but am tired of flats with 650c tires do 20″ tires flat as much? and are they significantly slower? I am currently on a bachetta corsa and I like it, but want to ride more and repair flats less. Any thoughts or advice would be greatly appreciated. I live in reno nv and ride river paths and roads with an occasional trip out of town. we seem to have lots of goatshead stickers and glass. (I have liners and slime in my tires and tubes.)

Hi, Sean. Sorry for the delay in responding–we don’t get many comments on the website proper. Please give Mark a call (720) 560-1178–he will be happy to talk tires and recumbents for as long as you can stand! Cheers, Renge’ [email protected]

mark my address is 641 orange street Hanford California 93230 thank you.

Thanks, Gerry. Mark

Fantastic reading, already an accomplished tourist, plan on touring to the northwest – as well as the west coast. Any advise is always better than no advice, no?

Hi, Arthur! Thanks for your comment. Feel free to give us a call anytime–Mark loves to talk recumbents and touring! Cheers, Renge’ (720) 560-1178

Thank you for the very informative article on Azub MAX. I can feel your enthusiasm in each sentence for this well-crafted machine. I do not own one YET….but will definitely be purchasing one in the near future. Your article helped get me over the ‘ridge’ of that decision. There are so many good/great recumbents on the market now…but I do not believe there is anything as good as an Azub that can go as many places and perform with such dependable aplomb. Thank you again:).

Hey, Paul! Sorry we missed your comment here on the Backcountry Recumbent Cycles website about the Azub Max–we don’t get many messages here that aren’t spam, I’m afraid. Wondering if you ended up with a Max? Please let us know if you have any questions or would just like to talk recumbents awhile–Mark is always happy to do that. (720) 560-1178 Cheers! Renge’

How to choose the best workout leggings

✔️Determine what kind of legging you’ll need. When it comes to choosing the right pair of leggings, you’ll have to know what you’re planning to use them for. “If you're using them for regular everyday wear, I wouldn't recommend using workout leggings. There are other options made from cotton with a more breathable fabric, which is better for just walking around but not the best for exercising,” explains Braganza. And if you’re planning on doing a yoga workout, you may prefer high-waisted leggings that offer tummy control and a longer length to protect your skin during floor movements.

✔️Look for the right material. "If you're looking to do intense workouts daily, I suggest leggings made with a spandex and polyester mix," says Braganza. "Spandex helps keep the shape, especially if you're going to wash it a lot. And this blend has a nice, snug fit. It's got a little looseness so it’s not too tight thanks to the elasticity,” she says. If you also tend to get sweaty fast look for fabrics that are designed to absorb sweat and keep your skin dry. Ready to find the right pair?

✔️Do a squat test. To find the perfect fit, Braganza recommends trying all leggings before purchasing. “Put it on and do a squat to see if it’ll stay up around the waist," she says. High-waisted leggings are best if you’re looking for options that won’t ride down easily, she says. “Try out different moves from the workouts you're going to do and tests how it fits, making sure it stays up and doesn't show anything.”

11) How to choose the best recumbent exercise bike

✔️ Check out the resistance levels. Different bikes come with different resistance levels. Make sure the one you buy has the right options for your fitness level and goals, advises Ojeda and White.

✔️ Make sure it’s adjustable. “Look at the adjustable seat and handlebars to ensure proper fit and comfort,” says Ojeda. “Everyone has different measurements including height, waist circumference, leg length, and foot size,” adds Kennedy, so adjustability is important.

✔️ Ensure it’ll fit in your space. Measure your space and check the dimensions of the bike before adding one to your digital cart.

✔️ Consider app compatibility. Some bikes come with workouts built in while other brands have their own apps with content for you to follow along with. Some cheaper options only allow for manual workouts.

✔️ Understand the warranty. White points out that checking the warranty is a good idea when shopping for a recumbent exercise bike, especially if you’re buying an expensive option.

12) The benefits of recumbent exercise bikes

“It is a great way to enhance cardiovascular endurance without putting too much stress on an individual’s joints,” says Ojeda. “Recumbent bikes are also user friendly for all fitness levels.”

White agrees, noting that recumbent exercise bikes are great for seniors or anyone with joint pain. “Great for individuals with limiting factors that still want to get a great workout,” he says.

Recumbent exercise bikes are commonly used during injury recovery and rehabilitation, Kennedy points out. “That does not mean a younger, fitter population cannot choose this modality,” he says. “Adding resistance to a recumbent bike is a great way to get a cardiovascular benefit without overtaxing the joints.”

13) What are the disadvantages of a recumbent exercise bike?

A recumbent exercise bike is not for those looking for an intense full-body workout. The reclined chair position allows only the lower leg muscles to work and will result in fewer calories burned than an upright stationary bike, White explains. They are also large, so it could be hard to fit one in your home gym if you live in a small space.

14) Recumbent exercise bikes vs. stationary exercise bikes

The main difference between a recumbent exercise bike and a stationary exercise bike is the seat and pedal position. “The seat design for a recumbent bike is a full seat in a reclined position. It provides support for a user’s lower and mid back,” says Ojeda. “Traditional stationary bikes have a user in an upright position without back support.” Additionally, the pedals on a recumbent bike are out in front of the rider, while the pedals for a stationary bike are directly under the hips, he explains.

15) Who should use a recumbent exercise bike?

“The recumbent bike is a great option for those looking to reduce stress on their joints,” says Kennedy. “It is great during the rehabilitation process or for people with back issues.” It’s also ideal for getting cardio benefits while “causing very limited wear and tear,” he adds.

“I would recommend individuals who struggle with balance and older clients to incorporate using a recumbent bike as a way to enhance lower body stability and strength,” says Ojeda. They’re great for all fitness levels, he continues.

16) Is riding a recumbent bike as good as walking?

A recumbent bike offers many of the same low-impact health benefits as walking, according to White. “Like walking, recumbent bikes provide an individual with enhanced cardiovascular endurance without added stress to hip and knee joints,” explains Ojeda.

But when it comes to deciding which form of exercise is best for you, that depends on the individual. “If they have pain when walking or running on the treadmill then a recumbent bike will be better than a treadmill,” he says. “On the other hand, if they are able to walk or run on the treadmill without pain, then they should do so,as it engages more muscle groups and is a harder exercise.”

If you want to get technical with it, Kennedy recommends using a heart rate monitor . “If you are able to sustain your heart rate in certain zones using a recumbent bike, then yes, it can be just as beneficial as walking,” he says. “It is typically easier for an individual to elevate their heart rate on a treadmill because you are fully upright and there are more muscles involved. However, you can increase the resistance and work very hard on a recumbent bike.”

At the end of the day, “whatever exercise they can stick to consistently pain free is the most effective way for anyone to see results,” says White.

17) What muscles does a recumbent exercise bike work?

“A recumbent bike workout will target all muscles throughout the lower body, including the quads, calves, and glutes,” says Kennedy. “The core muscles are also engaged to a lesser extent to enhance stability,” adds Ojeda.

18) Can you lose belly fat on a recumbent exercise bike?

“While you can’t target a specific spot to lose fat, the more you exercise the more fat you will lose,” explains White. “Therefore, if you use a recumbent bike for exercise at a high enough intensity, then you will lose fat.” Ojeda also emphasizes the importance of incorporating consistent exercise, a balanced diet, and sleeping at least seven hours a night in order to reach weight loss goals.

19) How we chose the best recumbent exercise bike

Gold Rush Replica

Gold Rush Evo

Ti-Rush 2.0

Coupled Frames

tour easy recumbent for sale

The Ti-Rush 2.0 is perhaps the most exquisite bicycle being manufactured in the world today. We build our titanium frames using the purest, thin-walled tubing in the industry. While the geometry is nearly identical to that of the Gold Rush, the material is what makes this Easy Racer so special. In addition to being extremely strong, titanium will absorb and disperse most of the minuscule vibrations in whatever road surfaces you travel. While sometimes barely noticeable, inadequacies in lesser frame materials can potentially lead to discomfort and decreased performance over time. The Ti-Rush is able to recycle and amplify the energy it absorbs to create an over-all smoother and more efficient ride. Controlled tests show a 5% increase in performance over the aluminum framed Gold Rush.

This is our choice offering for the true connoisseur. A human powered vehicle for those with a most refined palate. Experience pure exuberance aboard a Ti-Rush today!
