DAY 03 : Bosphorous and flight to Cappadocia In the morning enjoy a cruise on the Bosphorus during which you have views from the vessel of various historical sights that line its shores. DAY 05 : Kaymakli Underground City & Valleys After breakfast join on another full-day tour, this time starting with a 4km (medium grade, approx 2hrs) hike in Red Valley exploring rock-cut churches and colourful fairy chimneys along the way. Visit Cavusin (old Greek village) then Kaymakli Underground City. Along the way, you have panoramic views of Pigeon Valley with its famous dovecotes. Day 1: Welcome to Cairo

The welcome for guests arriving in Cairo for an Egypt and Turkey adventure goes on around the clock. A tour manager will greet you and offer assistance as soon as you arrive at Cairo International Airport. He, along with a driver will then drive you to the Le Meridien Pyramids Hotel and Spa in cool air conditioned comfort.

After you’ve checked in, your tour manager will go over your itinerary for your holiday, and confirm the start times for every tour you are taking. They will then leave you to enjoy the rest of the day as you wish.

DAY 2 – Extensive Cairo Historical Monuments Tour

Begin your first full day in Egypt with a delicious breakfast at your hotel and then at the time which was agreed on yesterday, one of our Expert guides and a driver will fetch you, and then your sightseeing tour will begin. First up, you will be taken to the Giza Plateau to see Egypt’s most instantly recognizable monuments, the Great Pyramids and the Sphinx. You will also have some time to visit the Valley Temple which is located in the same necropolis.

After you have had ample time to admire and explore this amazing site, you will then be taken for lunch at a good local restaurant. Once lunch is over, your next stop will be at the Egyptian Museum, home to more than a quarter of a million artifacts. While at the museum, you will also visit the Treasures Room which is houses all the artifacts and treasures that were recovered from the tomb of King Tutankhamen in the early 20th century.

Next, you will make your way to an area known as Coptic Cairo where you will be taken to see the famous Ben Ezra Synagogue and the famous Hanging Church of Cairo. After visiting these two sites, you will proceed on to the old Islamic quarter to visit one of Cairo’s most fascinating sites, the old Khan el-Khalili Bazaar. This expansive market has been open for hundreds of years already, and most visitors would agree that no trip to Cairo is complete without a visit to the Bazaar even if you have no intention of buying anything.

Finally, day 2 of your Egypt-Turkey Tour Package draws to a close with you being driven back to your hotel where you can enjoy a well-deserved rest and a great night’s sleep at your luxury hotel.

You will enjoy lunch aboard your 5-star vessel, and then step off to tour the Luxor Temple and Karnak Temples. Return to the vessel for dinner and an enjoyable night on board.

Day 4: See the Sights of Luxor

Start your day with a delicious breakfast, and then head out to tour the Valley of the Kings. This is a cemetery holding the remains of 62 Pharaohs. The next stop will be the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut, which was built in the 15th century BC by the New Kingdom Pharaoh Hatshepsut. The final stop before lunch is the Colossi of Memnon.

Refuel with lunch, and then sail towards Edfu for the remainder of the day. You will have dinner and spend the night on board your luxury vessel.

Day 5: Excursions into Edfu and Kom Ombo

Enjoy a cruise-worthy breakfast onboard, and then step off the vessel to see the Ptolemaic Temple. This temple was dedicated to Horus at Edfu and has been preserved remarkably well through the years. Back onboard, you will sail to Kom Ombo and step off the ship again to see the Temple of Sobek. Sobek is the crocodile god, and this temple was dedicated to him and the falcon-headed god, Horus. Enjoy lunch and dinner onboard as you cruise toward Aswan. Spend the night onboard.

Day 6: See the Sights of Aswan

Fuel up with breakfast because you will need the energy for an exciting day in Aswan. Your trip will begin in ancient Egypt, in the northern area of the stone quarries. You will see the largest known ancient obelisk, the Unfinished Obelisk. You will also visit the Temple of Philae. This temple was dedicated to goddesses Hathor and isis and is a true gem.

A local felucca boat will take you on a sailing tour around Elephantine Island, and then you will return to your luxury vessel for dinner and another relaxing night on your Nile cruise.

Day 7: Return to Cairo

Your Nile cruise is now over, and it is time to fly from Aswan Airport back to Cairo Airport. A tour representative will transport you from the airport in an air-conditioned vehicle and make sure you are safely checked into your Cairo hotel room. You will spend the night in Cairo.

DAY 8 – Flight to Istanbul in Turkey

Enjoy one last breakfast in Cairo, and then at the appropriate time one of our tour representatives and a driver will collect you, and you will be transferred to the airport in time for you to board your flight to Istanbul in Turkey.

On arrival at the airport in Istanbul, another one of our tour representatives will be standing by to meet and greet you at the airport, and they will then escort you to the luxury hotel where you will be staying while you are this fascinating city. Once at the hotel, you will be assisted with check-in, and then our tour representative will discuss your tour itinerary with you and also confirm pick-up times and etc. With all the formalities taken care of, you will then be left on your own to enjoy the remainder of the day as you wish.

DAY 9 – Istanbul Historical Monuments Tour

Enjoy a hearty breakfast at your hotel, and then it will soon be time for your Istanbul tour to begin. The first stop today will be at the famous Hagia Sophia. Constantine the Great built this structure to be a church in the 4th century, but it was turned into a mosque during the Ottoman era and is now a museum representing the history of Islam and Christianity. After Hagia Sophia, you will then be taken to visit the Blue Mosque, which was named for the blue tiles that cover the interior walls. This structure is considered a brilliant masterpiece of the 17th century. Next up will be a trip to the hippodrome, and then on to the indescribable Topkapi Palace which is considered to be one of the very best attractions in Istanbul.

Apart for the palace’s impressive treasury the exquisite harem, there are also a vast number of amazing antiquities on display, so you can be sure that your visit to this site is definitely going to be a memorable one. Once you have finished exploring this spectacular site, you will then make your way back to your hotel where you will be able to enjoy a good night’s rest.

DAY 10 – Bosphorus Cruise and Istanbul Sightseeing

Enjoy another superb hotel breakfast and then at the time that was agreed with you yesterday, you will be met at your hotel, and then you will be taken to visit Istanbul’s famous spice bazaar. After enjoying a bit of time at the bazaar, you will then board a boat and you will be taken for a cruise on the Bosphorus, the narrow stretch of ocean which runs through the center of Istanbul, separating Europe from Asia.

When your cruise ends, you will cross the Bosphorus via the 1st Bosphorus Bridge and you will make your way to the top of Camlica Hill to enjoy breathtaking views of Istanbul, the Sea of Mamara, and the Prince’s Islands. Next, you will head back down the hill to visit Beylerbeyi Palace which is located on the Bosphorus shoreline. While this palace may not be one of the oldest Ottoman palaces, it is certainly one of the most beautiful and most elegant palaces from the late Ottoman period.

With another wonderful day of sightseeing behind you, your guide will escort you back to your hotel, and then you will have the remainder of the day to yourself.

DAY 11 – Flight to Cappadocia and Leisure Time

Shortly after you have finished your breakfast, one of our tour representatives will meet you at the hotel, and then you will be transferred to the airport where you will board a short domestic flight to Cappadocia.

On arrival at the airport in Cappadocia, you will again be met by one of our tour representatives, and then you will be transferred to the luxurious hotel where you will be staying while you are in Cappadocia. Once you have been assisted with check-in, you will then have the remainder of the day to yourself.

DAY 12 – Full Day Sightseeing at Cappadocia

Day 12 of your Egypt-Turkey itinerary is once again going to be a truly unforgettable day that begins shortly after you have had your breakfast. Your first stop of the day will be at the remarkable open-air museum at Goreme and from there you will head to Uchisar, a formidable natural fortress. While at this site, your guide will tell you all about the long and rich history behind the many local handicrafts which you will see in the area. After exploring the area for a while, you will then head back to your hotel in time for a delicious dinner.

DAY 13 – South Cappadocia Tour and Flight to Izmir

Enjoy breakfast at the hotel, and then your guide will arrive and assist you with check-out, and then your sightseeing tour of South Cappadocia. The first highlight of the day will be Kizilcukur, a relatively remote valley located behind Urgup. The valley is best known for its beautiful rock formations and several rock-carved churches which almost entirely hidden from view.

The area is known for its countless tracks that connect a number small villages and towns. The tracks take you through vineyards and gardens and you are certain to see villagers working in the area who are only too happy to offer you grapes, apples or apricots to you.

The second highlight of your tour will be Cavusin which is one of the oldest settlements in the region. Cavusin is located just 2km from Goreme, on the Göreme to Avanos road. While you are here you will also be taken to see the Church of St. John the Baptist which offers a spectacular view of the village. This church, as well as its paintings, dates back to the 5th century, making it the oldest church in the area. At one point the church had a huge courtyard which was very unusual for Cappadocia. However, this courtyard has eroded away over the years.

The third highlight of the day will be the Underground City which words simply cannot describe. There are several underground cities in the region but this is both the oldest and the biggest. It has 8 floors below ground but not all of these are open to visitors.

Finally, you will be taken to see the nearby Pigeon House which is a collective name for an area which is home to numerous pigeon houses which were once carved out of the area’s fascinating rock formations. After visiting this site, you will then be driven to the airport where you will board a short flight to İzmir. On arrival at Izmir, you will again be met, and then transferred to your hotel in Kuşadası.

DAY 14 – Sightseeing at Pammukkale and Overnight at Kusadasi

Enjoy a good breakfast at your hotel, and then at the time that was confirmed with you yesterday, you will be picked up, and you will enjoy an unforgettable tour that will see you visiting several of Pammukkale’s most fascinating historical sites, including the ancient Hierapolis with its magnificent Necropolis, graveyard, lime cascade, Roman baths, Basilica, and the area’s famous Cotton Cliffs which are classified as one on the Natural Wonders of the World.

Today’s tour of these sites lasts for a full day, so you will only arrive back at your hotel at around 19h00, but still in time for a good and well deserved dinner.

DAY 15 – Sightseeing Tours and Flight to Istanbul

Start the 15th day of your Egypt and Turkey Itinerary with another hearty breakfast at your hotel, and then it will be time for you to checkout. Shortly after check-out, you will be picked up from the hotel, and you will be driven to the Ancient city of Ephesus for some great sightseeing opportunities. This will include visiting the area’s magnificent library, theater and a number of ancient temples.

Next, you will be taken to visit the incredible Virgin Mary’s House and the Basilica of St. John. This will be followed by a nice lunch, and then you will be taken to see a somewhat special type of fashion show which showcases a wide range of leather goods made in Turkey. You will also have the opportunity to participate in the show if you want to.

Finally, you will be driven to Izmir Airport where you will board a short domestic flight back to Istanbul. On arrival at Istanbul, one of our tour representatives will be standing by to meet and assist you, and to escort you to the luxury hotel where you will be spending the last night of your Egypt-Turkey Tour Package.

DAY 16 – Egypt and Turkey Itinerary Ends and Final Departure

Sadly, this is the last day of your unforgettable Egypt and Turkey Itinerary. Before you leave however, you can enjoy a wonderful breakfast at your hotel, and you’ll have a few hours to do as you please before our consultant comes to collect you for your drive to Istanbul International Airport. No doubt you’ll be boarding your plane with a heavy heart, and our staff will be sad to see you go. With that having been said, there’s a very real possibility that you will be back soon.

Luxor Museum

With a massive collection of relics gathered from tombs and temples, the Luxor Museum is one of the best museums in Egypt. You can see treasures from the tomb of King Tutankhamun, the royal mummies of two pharaohs, and antiquities dating from the end of the Old Kingdom to the Mamluk period.

Hamam Mahshi

In Egypt, pigeons are marinated and stuffed with rice or freekeh, onions, giblets and a variety of spices like cumin, pepper and cinnamon. The whole bird is then grilled or spit-roasted, and while Egyptians traditionally eat hamam mahshi during celebratory occasions, you can also find it in restaurants around the country.

A classic Egyptian dish made of pita bread stuffed with minced meat, onions, parsley and onions, which is then baked in an oven. It’s traditionally made in Egyptian homes, although our Local Specialists will show you the best restaurants to try this delicious dish.

Kushari is Egypt’s favorite fast food, made from a bowl of macaroni, chickpeas, rice and black lentils covered in tomato sauce and fried onions. It’s then topped with spicy chilli sauce and garlic vinegar, and it’s one of the tastiest comfort foods in the country.

Day 1 – arrive in cairo for your egypt to turkey vacation.

When you arrive at Cairo International Airport, one of our tour representatives will be standing by to meet you. He will assist you in any way he can, and then he will escort you to the hotel where you will be staying while you are in Cairo. On arrival at the hotel, he will assist you with check-in, and then he will briefly discuss your tour itinerary with you. After that you will be free to enjoy the rest of the day as you wish.

DAY 2 – Best of Cairo Tour

After breakfast in the morning, your tour guide will fetch you from your hotel and then escort you for an unforgettable tour in Cairo. Your first stop today will be at the Giza Pyramids where you will be able to see the famous Sphinx and the Valley Temple at the same site, and then you will be taken for lunch at a good local restaurant. After you have had your lunch, you will then move on to the Egyptian Museum and its famous Treasures Room which houses all the artifacts that were recovered from the tomb of King Tutankhamun at the valley of Kings in Luxor.

After spending some time at the museum, you will then proceed to Coptic Cairo to see the Hanging Church of Cairo and also the Ben Ezra Synagogue. DAY 3 – Domestic Flight to Luxor and East Bank Tour

The next phase of your Egypt to Turkey to it begins today, so after you have had your breakfast one of our tour representatives will fetch you from your hotel and transfer you to the airport so that you can board a short flight to Luxor. On arrival in Luxor, another one of our tour representatives will meet you and then escort you to the area where you will be boarding your 5-Star Nile River cruise ship.

Shortly after embarkation, you will be served a good lunch, and then your tour guide will take you for an excursion to the East Bank where you will visit the huge Karnak Temple complex and also the incredible Luxor Temple. DAY 4 – Luxor West Bank and Leisure Cruise to Edfu

Enjoy a good breakfast on the water at Luxor, and then your guide will take you for an excursion to the West Bank to see 3 indescribable ancient sites. The first stop today will be at the Valley of the Kings which is an ancient royal necropolis where pharaohs and other royalty from the New Kingdom era were laid to rest, including Pharaoh Ramesses the 6th and King Tutankhamun. Next, you will head to the absolutely magnificent rock-cut Temple of Queen Hatshepsut. Your last stop today will be at the Colossi of Memnon, and then you will return to the ship and it will begin sailing to Edfu where you will be spending the night in your cabin on the water.

DAY 5 – Temple of Horus, Kom Ombo Temple, and sail to Aswan

After you have had your breakfast today, our tour guide will take you for another excursion to see the ancient Temple of Horus at Edfu. This temple is the most well-preserved ancient complex ever discovered and it really is a sight which you need to experience in person. After your excursion to this temple, you will return to the ship, and it will begin sailing to Kom Ombo.

On arrival at Kom Ombo our tour guide will take you for another excursion, this time to the Temple of Kom Ombo. This Temple complex was originally dedicated to two different gods: Sobek the crocodile god and Haeroris the falcon-headed god. Enjoy your tour and then head back to the ship and enjoy lunch on board while it is sailing to Aswan where you will be spending this night of your Egypt to Turkey tour on the water.

DAY 6 – Aswan Day and Free Afternoon

First you will visit the Aswan High Dam, and from there you will make your way to see The Unfinished Obelisk. DAY 7 – Transfer to Cairo and Free Time

Today you will disembark from the cruise ship shortly after breakfast, and then you will be transferred to the airport and you will board short flight to Cairo. DAY 8 – Egypt to Turkey Transfer

The next phase of your Egypt to Turkey tour begins today. Enjoy breakfast at the hotel and then at the appropriate time your tour manager will meet you and assist you with check-out, and then he will escort you to Cairo International Airport in time for you to board your flight to Istanbul in Turkey. On arrival at the airport in Turkey, another one of our tour representatives will meet you, and then escort you to the hotel in Istanbul where you will be staying. Once you have been assisted with check-in, and once pick-up times for your tours have been confirmed, you will be left on your own to enjoy it the rest of this day as you wish.

DAY 9 – Istanbul City Tour

Enjoy another good hotel breakfast, and then at the time that was confirmed with you yesterday, your tour guide will fetch you and you will be taken to see a number of fascinating sites in Istanbul. The first stop of the day will be at the famous Hagia Sophia which was built in the 4th century by Emperor Constantine. It was, however, converted into a mosque by the Ottomans during the 15th century, and today it is a museum that is open to everyone.

Next you will make your way to the city’s famous Blue Mosque which is one of the most important religious buildings in the world. Your next stop of the day will be at the magnificent Topkapi Palace which was the official residence of various Ottoman Sultans between the 15th and 19th centuries. Your last and final stop today will be at the Grand Bazaar, after which you will be taken back to your hotel for the night.

DAY 10 – Flight to Cappadocia and Cappadocia Tour

After breakfast you will need to check-out at the appropriate time, and then you will be picked up from your hotel, and you will then be transferred to the airport where you will board a 45-minute flight to Cappadocia. On arrival at the airport in Cappadocia, your tour guide will meet you and you will be taken to visit the famous Devrant Valley, and also Pasabag Valley which is often called Monk’s Valley.

After exploring the area for a while, you will be taken for lunch at a good local restaurant in the town of Avanos. While you are in the area, you will also have the opportunity to see some of the amazing Turkish handicrafts which are famous the world over. Next, he will be taken to see the Goreme Open Museum and also the Uchisar Natural Fortress. Your Cappadocia tour will end with one more incredible stop, this time at the Underground City of Kaymakli. This is by far the best preserved, and also one of the deepest subterranean towns in the entire region.

DAY 11 – Optional Balloon Ride and Transfer to Istanbul

Tension in the Middle East has ratcheted up again after Iran's attack on Israel, as the world waits to see how Benjamin Netanyahu's government will respond. 

With the threat of widening conflict, people due to travel through or over the Middle East may be asking if their plans may be impacted.

On Saturday, flight data showed dozens of journeys that would have travelled over the Middle East turned back after Iran fired more than 300 drones and missiles into Israel .

Here is what airlines are saying and the latest safety advice to travellers.

EasyJet scraps Tel Aviv flights

EasyJet has suspended all flights to Tel Aviv over safety concerns.

The budget airline told Sky News it has grounded its flights until 27 October at the earliest "as a result of the continued evolving situation" in the region.

Wizz Air customers could see schedule changes

Wizz Air cancelled flights to Tel Aviv on Sunday 14 and Monday 15 April before resuming its schedule.

But it said customers could experience schedule changes as it closely monitors the situation.

British Airways operating as normal

British Airways - which operates four daily return flights per week between Heathrow and Tel Aviv - said its flights were continuing to operate as planned, but it too was monitoring the situation.

Is it safe to travel to Turkey?

Turkey is a popular holiday destination for people from the UK with the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism saying that last year 3.16 million Britons made the journey there, according to Travel Weekly.

Yet, it borders a number of countries that the Foreign Office advises against travel to.

The vast majority of the country is considered generally safe for tourists, with some exceptions.

The Foreign Office advises against all travel within 10km of the border with Syria , and all but essential travel to the Sirnak and Hakkari provinces.

Is it safe to travel to Israel?

Some parts of Israel are considered "red zones" by the Foreign Office, with the government advising against all travel there.

For the rest of the country - including East Jerusalem and Tel Aviv - the advice is to travel only if it is essential.

Tourist Israel says around 220,000 Britons usually go to the country every year and the Foreign Office is advising against travel close to the border with Gaza, within 5km of the border with Lebanon and within 500m of the border with Syria.

The Foreign Office advises against all travel to Gaza and the West Bank.

It advises against all travel to Iraq except to the Kurdistan Region of Iraq (KRI), where it advises against all but "essential travel".

Can I safely go on holiday in Egypt?

The main tourist areas in Egypt are generally considered safe, including the capital Cairo, cities along the Nile and Red Sea resorts.

Over 1.5 million British Nationals visit Egypt every year, according to analysts Gitnux, and the areas the Foreign Office warns not to travel to include the Governorate of North Sinai, where the Rafah crossing to Gaza is located, and within 20km of the border with Libya.

Check advice on other Middle East states before you travel

Following Iran's attack on Israel, the Foreign Office issued a warning relating to several countries in the surrounding area, telling travellers to check for the latest information.

Included in this are popular destinations like Dubai (visited by more than a million Britons last year according to Travel Weekly) and Marrakech.

"On 13 April 2024 Iran carried out military action against Israel. Monitor this travel advice and other media as the situation is changing fast," the FCDO said in a statement.

The countries covered by the warning include Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Morocco, Tunisia, Saudi Arabia, Algeria, Bahrain, Kuwait, Libya, Jordan and Oman.

Anywhere else of concern?

Cyprus is near the region and has a large UK airbase but, as yet, there is no change in travel advice to the popular country.

"I recognized them, and I thought, 'Oh, man, what a bonehead mistake that I had no idea that those were in there,'" he said.

The couple were arrested and charged with possession of ammunition. Authorities seized their passports and explained the penalties they faced.

Valerie Watson said in the interview: "When I heard that, I immediately was terrified, because I was like we can't both be in prison for 12 years. We have kids at home, and this is such an innocent mistake."

The charges against her were dropped, and she returned home to Oklahoma City on Tuesday after the court hearing to be reunited with her two young children.

"Our goal is to get Ryan home, because we can’t be a family without Dad," she said.

The couple also spoke about the financial burden of a much longer-than-planned trip. "This is something that we may never recover from," Ryan Watson said.

The U.S. Embassy in the Bahamas issued a warning to travelers in September about a law that strongly prohibits possession of firearms or ammunition in Turks and Caicos, an overseas British territory southeast of the Bahamas that is a popular vacation spot.

It said: "We wish to remind all travelers that declaring a weapon in your luggage with an airline carrier does not grant permission to bring the weapon into TCI [Turks and Caicos Islands] and will result in your arrest."

The embassy added: "If you bring a firearm or ammunition into TCI, we will not be able to secure your release from custody."

The embassy and the government in Turks and Caicos did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

The same thing happened to another American, Bryan Hagerich, of Pennsylvania, who was arrested after ammunition was found in his luggage before he tried to board a flight out of Turks and Caicos in February. He said he accidentally left it in his bag.

Hagerich was on a family vacation with his wife and two young children but has now been in the country for 70 days. He spent eight days in prison before he posted bail.

"It’s incredibly scary. You know, you just don’t know what the next day may bring — you know, what path this may take," Hagerich told NBC Boston.

"You know, it’s certainly a lot different than packing your bags and going away with your family for a few days. It’s been the worst 70 days of my life," he said.

Hagerich, once a professional baseball player, was drafted by the Florida Marlins in the MLB 2007 June amateur draft from the University of Delaware.

His case goes to trial May 3.

Athens swallowed up by orange haze from Sahara dust storm

Authorities in Greece warn the dust concentrations can reduce sunlight and visibility, while increasing levels of fine pollution particles pose health risks

Clouds of dust blown in from the Sahara covered Athens and other Greek cities on Tuesday, one of the worst such episodes to hit the country since 2018, officials said.

A yellow-orange haze smothered several regions after days of strong winds from the south, limiting visibility and prompting warnings from the authorities of breathing risks.

“It’s one of the most serious episodes of dust and sand concentrations from the Sahara since March 21-22, 2018, when the clouds invaded the island of Crete in particular,” said Kostas Lagouvardos, weather research director at the Athens Observatory.

Greece had already been struck by Sahara dust clouds in late March and early April which also smothered parts of Switzerland and southern France.

Authorities warned that the dust concentrations can reduce sunlight and visibility while increasing concentrations of fine pollution particles, posing risks for people with underlying health problems.

The Sahara releases 60 to 200m tonnes of mineral dust a year. While the largest particles come rapidly back down to earth, the smallest can travel thousands of kilometres, potentially reaching all of Europe .

The Greek weather service said the skies would begin to clear on Wednesday.

The strong southerly winds over the past few days have also fanned unseasonal early wildfires in the country’s south.

The fire service said on Tuesday evening that a total of 25 wildfires broke out across the country in the past 24 hours. Three people were arrested on the Aegean Sea resort island of Paros on suspicion of accidentally starting a scrub blaze on Monday, it added. No significant damage or injuries were reported, and the fire was quickly contained.

Another blaze that broke out on Crete near a naval base was brought under control Tuesday.

Turkey Accuses U.S. of Double Standards Over Gaza in Rights Report

ANKARA (Reuters) - Turkey on Wednesday accused the United States of having a policy of double standards on human rights, saying Washington's annual rights report failed to reflect Israel's assaults in Gaza.

Turkey's foreign ministry said in a statement it was deeply concerned that the U.S. report did not "duly reflect the ongoing inhumane attacks in Gaza".

The report was prepared with "political motives, far from impartiality and objectivity", it said, calling on Washington to cease its "double-standard policy on human rights".

War in Israel and Gaza

It also cited U.S. ties with the Syrian Kurdish YPG militia which Ankara deems a terrorist organisation.

Israeli forces have killed more than 34,000 Palestinians in Gaza, according to health authorities there, many of them civilians and children. The enclave has been reduced to a wasteland and extreme food shortages have prompted fears of famine.

Israel launched its assault in response to an attack by the Hamas militant group on Oct. 7 in which Israel says 1,200 people were killed. It denies allegations of deliberately causing humanitarian suffering and targeting civilians.

In its report, the U.S. State Department said Israel's war against Hamas had a "significant negative impact" on the human rights situation in Israel.

On Monday, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken rejected suggestions that Washington might have double standards over Israel's record.
