What to expect at your clinic visit.

Protect against travel related infections with vaccines recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the World Health Organization and other international travel authorities. We are a designated yellow fever center and provide prescriptions for travel-related conditions as appropriate.

Consultation includes: 

• Common health hazards at your destination, including prevention of insect- and water-borne illnesses and other transmittable infections 
• Air-travel-related conditions 
• Recent infectious outbreaks, health care standards and availability of health care at your destination 
• Safety and security alerts, safe and unsafe areas, political updates and emergency information 
• Personalized advice for those traveling with special needs, and children

Travelers receive an International Certificate of Vaccination or Prophylaxis (ICVP) card with documentation of all vaccinations you receive in our clinic.

Preparing for your appointment

Appointments should be scheduled well in advance. Some immunizations are given in a series over a period of time and may take up to six months to complete. We review records of previous immunizations, and detailed travel itinerary.

Payment and insurance considerations

We accept cash, check or credit card. We provide travelers with a statement which may be submitted for insurance reimbursement. Payment is due at the time of service. For more information or to schedule an appointment, call 616.391.2778 .

Our goal is to protect the health of travelers by providing exemplary clinical care along with specific advice and information for each traveler both prior to their trip and after their return.

About travel medicine appointments

Schedule your visit at the clinic 6-8 weeks prior to the start of your trip to allow your immune system to increase antibodies against the diseases against which you have been immunized and provide sufficient time for any additional issues that might arise.

We will do a comprehensive assessment of health risks for your specific international travel.

You will receive counseling to minimize disease risks.

We will recommend and prescribe immunizations and medications for protection against communicable diseases.

Bring to your appointment

A detailed itinerary, including dates of travel and countries you will be entering and airport layovers.

Any regions you will be visiting and specific activities you may be doing (such as trekking).

A record of your previous immunizations. If you have a Certificate of International Certificate of Vaccination or Prophylaxis (Yellow card), you should bring this to your appointment.

A current list of any medications.

Things to know about urgent care

When is my nearest aurora urgent care center open.

We offer extended hours with most locations opening as early as 7 a.m. and closing at 8 p.m. Hours vary by location. Use our location finder to locate your nearest care facility.

Can I visit on Sundays?

Yes – most of our locations provide care seven days a week.

Can I choose when to come in for urgent care?

You can search for locations near you, then select Get in line to come in within the next hour. The Get in line feature saves you time by letting you choose when and where you want to get care.

If you can’t come in now, you can walk in for care at a later time. Patients who use the Get in line feature receive priority service over people who walk in for urgent care.

How is wait time calculated at urgent care locations?

The current wait time is the average time you'd spend in the waiting room if you arrived at the clinic now. During your visit, you may wait additional time to see a provider, complete tests or other steps. Wait times and the order in which patients are seen change based on the number of patients and severity of their care needs.

Do you offer telehealth visits?

Because we strive to provide quality, convenient care, quick care video appointments and e-visits make it easy to get the urgent care services you need from wherever you are 24/7.

Is it hard to schedule a telehealth appointment?

Starting a virtual visit is easy. You can hop on a Quick Care Video Visit  to meet with the next available provider to discuss your symptoms 24/7. You can also use Symptom Checker to see if an e-visit is an online care option based on your symptoms. If you're offered an e-visit, you'll send a message to a telehealth provider and get a diagnosis within an hour – 24/7.
