Van Morrison croons onstage while wearing sunglasses and a hat.

When most people near 80 years of age, they begin to take it easy.

Not Van Morrison .

The classic rock legend, who’s celebrating his 78th birthday on Aug. 31, is embarking on a quick 11-concert North American tour in support of his latest studio album “Moving On Skiffle” to ring in the occasion.

Over the course of his brief run, the legendary singer-songwriter will stop into major U.S. cities like Boston, San Diego, Las Vegas, Santa Barbara and Los Angeles .

And if you want to hear the enigmatic Rock and Roll Hall of Famer perform live, it’s not too late to scoop up last-minute tickets .

At the time of publication, we found some tickets to see the Belfast Cowboy going for as low as $40 before fees on Vivid Seats.

While that price is certainly an outlier — most concerts have seats starting anywhere from $90 to $330 before fees — it’s hard to put a price on seeing a living legend live in concert.

Want to see how much tickets are going for at the Van Morrison gig closest to you?

Keep scrolling.

We’ve got all the details you’re looking for and more right below.

All prices listed above are subject to fluctuation.

Van Morrison 2023 tour schedule

A complete calendar including all tour dates, venues and links to the cheapest tickets available can be found here:

(Note: The New York Post confirmed all above prices at the publication time. All prices are in US dollars, subject to fluctuation and include additional fees at checkout .)

Vivid Seats is a verified secondary market ticketing platform, and prices may be higher or lower than face value, depending on demand.

They offer a 100% buyer guarantee that states your transaction will be safe and secure and your tickets will be delivered prior to the event.

Van Morrison controversy

In 2020, Van Morrison protested social distancing measures and fought “pseudo science.”

His most public anti-COVID effort was the release of three songs that were anti-lockdown.

As a result, Northern Ireland health minister, Robin Swann claimed Morrison’s COVID-related songs were “dangerous” which led to a defamation lawsuit after Morrison called Swann a “fraud.”

Van Morrison new music

This year, Van Morrison put out his 44th (!) studio album “Moving On Skiffle.”

The folksy record, comprised of soulful, jaunty covers and a few original tracks, is a demonstration that the powerful vocalist still has chops.

If you want to hear for yourself, you can listen to all 23 tracks here .

Review: Was Van Morrison’s San Diego concert a celebration of classics, a classic bait-and-switch, or both?

Van Morrison performs at The Rady Shell on Monday, September 4, 2023 in San Diego, CA.

The 78-year-old music legend sang well during a performance that played down his own songs in favor of chestnuts by Lead Belly, Hank Williams, Washboard Sam and other pioneering American artists who inspired him early on

Van Morrison performed classic song after classic song Monday night in San Diego at his sold-out concert at The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park. The fact that most were written by other artists — all dead for decades or, in some cases, even a few centuries — made the evening simultaneously rewarding and frustrating, and both engaging and disengaging.

Rewarding because the famously grumpy Morrison was not phoning it in, as he did during much of his decidedly uneven 2019 gig at Chula Vista’s North Island Credit Union Amphitheatre.

Van Morrison, on a marvelous night for a moondance, ebbs and flows at second San Diego concert in 46 years

The Rock & Roll Hall of Famer sounded alternately inspired and disengaged during his concert at San Diego’s North Island Credit Union Amphitheatre

Oct. 9, 2019

The famed Irish troubadour was clearly engaged at The Shell and happy to pay tribute to the bygone artists whose music profoundly influenced him as a kid, from Lead Belly and Washboard Sam to Woody Guthrie and The Vipers Skiffle Group. Accordingly, all but a handful of Monday’s 18 selections were from Morrison’s 2023 double-album, “Playing on Skiffle,” which exclusively features vintage songs by those and other artists from the past.

Skiffle, which originated in Kentucky and Tennessee in the early 1900s, blended folk, blues, gospel, jazz, country and jug band music. Its revival in the United Kingdom in the 1950s was a major inspiration for future members of The Beatles, Rolling Stones and many other then-aspiring young musicians. Their ranks included Morrison, who in 2000 teamed with skiffle favorites Lonnie Donegan and Chris Barber to record the heartfelt album, “The Skiffle Sessions — Live in London.”

But enjoyable as it often was, Monday’s concert was also frustrating and disengaging for anyone who hoped to hear more than a few familiar songs written by Morrison. That’s not an unreasonable expectation considering prices were as high as $6,000 for a front-row catered table for four.

Then again, this 1993 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee’s refusal to kowtow to audiences has been a matter of record since not long after the release of his debut solo album, 1967’s “Blowin’ Your Mind.”

On Monday, Morrison uttered “Yeah, thank you” in between his second and third numbers — the traditional fiddle tune “Sail Away Ladies” and Jim Reeves’ 1955 country chestnut, “Yonder Comes a Sucker,” which was given an endearing Latin rhythmic lilt. He later introduced the members of his two-woman, six-man band not once, but twice. By his usual taciturn standards, that almost qualifies as being long-winded.

No one would expect Morrison to introduce individual songs at his concerts, let alone explain how they inspired him. But just a few preliminary sentences about Monday’s repertoire would have been illuminating, especially when more than a dozen of the songs come from a double-album that has received scant attention since its February release.

Van Morrison and keyboardist John Allair, Sept. 4, Rady Shell at Jacobs Park, San Diego.

Morrison’s characteristic insistence on letting the music speak for itself prevented a good portion of his listeners from fully appreciating the nature of his performance. It was a brave move, artistically. But how much more effective might his performance have been if he had provided his audience with at least some sense of why these particular songs and artists mean so much to him.

Hearing back-to-back readings of “I Wish I Was an Apple on a Tree,” Don Gibson’s “Oh Lonesome Me,” The Vipers’ “No Other Baby” and the folk standard “Gypsy Davy” was enjoyable. So were the next five selections, Washboard Sam’s “Come On In,” the gospel favorite “This Little Light of Mine,” Hank Williams’ chilling country lament “Cold, Cold Heart,” the weathered African-American children’s game song “Green Rocky Road” and Lead Belly’s oft-covered “Cotton Fields.”

But the lack of any stated context was disappointing. So was the preponderance of mid-tempo arrangements and the overly polite instrumental solos by Morrison’s band members. Their playing was uniformly pleasant but too often seemed to tiptoe, as if they were afraid to act as more assertive musical foils to Morrison, who sang well throughout and played alto sax with more enthusiasm than precision.

Bay Area guitarist John Platania, who first collaborated with Morrison in 1969 and off and on in subsequent decades, is back in the fold again. His tart slide guitar solos on “This Little Light of Mine” and “Cotton Fields” were as incisive as his slide-free solos on “Streamline Train” and “Oh Lonesome Me” were hit-and-miss affairs marred by more than a few clams.

The band’s ensemble generally work struck an appealing balance between tight and loose, but created little dynamic tension. Their playing, like the vintage selections Morrison favored, was consistently pleasant but cushioned the music much more than elevating it.

It’s no surprise, then, the most enthusiastic response came toward the end of the 98-minute concert. Three of the final four selections were staples from Morrison’s own songbook, starting with 1970’s suitably titled “Into the Mystic.” He then recast 1989’s “Have I Told You Lately That I Love You?” as a finger-snapping swing romp that had a fresh new tinge.

Both were welcomed by an audience palpably grateful to finally hear music by Morrison himself. The inclusion of those two songs also made them more receptive to his next selection, an extended version of the 1963 Willie Dixon and Sonny Boy Williamson II blues jam, “Help Me,” which Morrison recorded back in 1974.

Set to the organ vamp from Booker T. & The MG’s classic 1962 instrumental “Green Onions,” “Help Me’s” lyrics — which paint the ideal woman as a subservient appendage to a man — were an unlikely vehicle for spirited call-and-response vocal exchanges with the audience.

The concert concluded with “Gloria,” the 1964 garage-rock anthem Morrison, now 78, wrote and recorded with Them, his first group of note. It was given a rousing, 13-minute reading, although — tellingly — his band only cut loose and kicked into high gear after Morrison left the stage half way into the song. He did not return.

Tedeschi Trucks Band Salute Van Morrison with “Into The Mystic” and “Caravan” Debut in Virginia

Tedeschi Trucks Band Salute Van Morrison with “Into The Mystic” and “Caravan” Debut in Virginia

On Wednesday, March 13, Tedeschi Trucks Band closed out a two-night run at Richmond, Va.’s Altria Theater with a thrilling two-set performance. Among its typical array of time-honored covers, the renowned 12-piece ensemble also treated the audience to a debut cover of Van Morrison’s 1970 smash “Caravan,” which set off the evening’s second frame with a bang. This live debut followed a staging of Morrison’s “Into The Mystic” on night one, which marked the song’s second presentation after its launch at Boston’s TD Garden in September 2023.

Tedeschi Trucks Band kicked off its Wednesday show with “Come See About Me,” a highlight from the band’s first album Revelator , before launching into a high-energy set with 10 covers, among 21 total offerings. At the mid-point of the first set, the band unleashed Wet Willie’s soulful Southern rock anthem “Keep On Smiling,” a tour staple since last year, followed by a longtime favorite cover of Blind Faith’s “Had to Cry Today,” which the band busted-out for the first time since October 2022.

“Caravan” opened the second set, marking the band’s second staging of a selection from Morrison’s beloved Moondance in as many days. This debut led into Junior Wells’ 1967 blues standard “Little By Little,” featured on Susan Tedeschi’s sophomore album Just Won’t Burn, which, in turn, set the stage for Aretha Franklin’s “It Ain’t Fair,” originally recorded alongside Duane Allman for 1970’s This Girl’s in Love with You and debuted by TTB earlier this year. Following “Bell Bottom Blues” and “Why Does Love Got to Be So Sad?,” a pair of Derek and the Dominoes standards well-loved by the band since a shared debut at Lockn’ Festival 2019, the group closed out its second set with a cover of Jeff Beck’s “Beck’s Bolero.”

Tedeschi Trucks Band returned to the stage for a two-song encore, displaying two certified classic covers of Blind Willie McTell’s “Statesboro Blues” and Dr. John’s “I Walk on Guilded Splinters.” The group performed again in Durham, N.C. last night, May 14, and will stage a highly-anticipated hometown show at St. Augustine, Fla.’s St. Augustine Amphitheatre on Saturday, Mar. 16. For further appearances and tickets to the band’s Deuces Wild tour, visit tedeschitrucksband.com/tour .

Last December, HEART played its first three concerts in more than four years — in Highland, California, at Greater Palm Springs in Palm Desert, California, and in Seattle, Washington,.

Prior to HEART 's December 27 show in Highland, the band's last performance took place in October 2019 in St. Paul, Minnesota.

In a recent interview with the 96.1 KLPX radio station, Ann Wilson , who has been working on solo projects, and in September of 2023 released the album "Another Door" , billed as ANN WILSON & TRIPSITTER , stated about HEART 's reunion concerts: "We're gonna see how it works with the HEART thing, whether it feels like a level up. If it does feel like a level up, then we'll keep doing it. But that's what it has to be. It can't just slide down into jukebox time… It's gotta be real. No going through the motions. No phoning it in. No just getting on some kind of circuit just to take people's money and play the old songs again and again and again. No, we're gonna make it cool, really make it cool."

Ann 's sister, HEART guitarist Nancy Wilson made a surprise appearance during Ann 's concert on October 10, 2023 in Santa Rosa, California.

Nancy joined her sister and TRIPSITTER on stage at the Luther Burbank Center For The Arts in Nancy 's hometown to perform the HEART classic "Barracuda" .

Last June, Nancy revealed in an interview with Joe Rock of Long Island, New York's rock station 102.3 WBAB that she was working on fresh music with Ann . The 70-year-old musician, who had spent some of the recent months on tour with her new band NANCY WILSON'S HEART , broke the news of her latest collaboration with Ann while discussing some of her current recording projects, including "Tomboy" , which involves covering songs written by her male friends.

"I think right now I've been working on 'Tomboy' the most because I love the title, for one thing; it's almost like 'boy genius' or something," she explained. "But I've got a bunch of new ideas for songs. But I've also been writing new music with Ann too. So it's a real creative time. I think being on the tour right now, when I get home, I'm gonna really dig into the other projects, including finishing some new material with Ann . So it's really a good time to be creative. And I've got a new studio in my house, and so I can't wait to sort of run tape on stuff."

Asked if there is anything that she feels is really exciting because she feels it's something that's so different from what she's done before, Nancy said: "Yeah. Some of the stuff I've been working on with Ann is like that. I've also worked a bit with Sue Ennis , who used to work a lot with me and Ann for HEART music. And so I have some lyrics mainly that I worked on with Sue and took to Ann . And there's a couple of things that I'm really excited about. Very cool. Like stuff that you wouldn't have heard us do in the '80s. [It's] closer to what you would have heard us originally do in the '70s, late '70s. So it's really fun. It's just exciting and inspiring."

Nancy went on to say that she is really pleased to be collaborating on new material with her sister. "It's been a really nice kind of rediscovery of our relationship, working on music together again," she said. "So, yeah, I'm really happy about that."

In April 2023, Ann denied rumors of a rift with Nancy . In an interview in the 300th issue of Classic Rock , Ann said that she was "not" feuding with her younger sister. "It's a myth," she insisted. " Nancy and I are okay with each other. We just have different ideas for what HEART should be, and we haven't figured out a compromise yet.

"Fifty years on, I still want it to break barriers and rules, and she's more satisfied to ride the L.A. imaging thing and just do legacy stuff," Ann explained. "So that's a real split between us. Things like this will happen, though, but then they'll get better, and we'll love each other more."

Relations between the two sisters were considered to be at an all-time low after a much-publicized incident when Ann 's husband was arrested during a HEART tour in 2016. But in an interview with Rock Candy magazine to coincide with the release of her solo album "Fierce Bliss" , Ann said: "Things happen in families. And that was a really good example of something that happened within a family, and we worked it out. But the part that made it hard was that it happened in the public eye. If it had happened privately, we'd have got the family in a room and sat down and worked it out between us. Instead, the police were called, and this myth was born that Nancy and I were feuding, and we were at each other's throats all the time. And it's really not like that at all."

A proposed HEART tour fell through in 2022 after the two sisters failed to agree on which backing band to use. Ann wanted her guys, Nancy didn't.

In February 2022, Nancy spoke to Joe Rock about why HEART had been inactive for most of the previous three years.

" HEART had a big offer on the table [in 2021] for a bigger tour, but Ann wasn't interested in going out with my lineup of guys that we were out with before," she said. "She has a new lineup of guys that she wanted me to join up with. And I sort of [thought] I don't really know them and don't have loyalty yet for anybody like that."

HEART toured North America in the summer of 2019 after the aforementioned nasty split that kept the Wilson sisters estranged for three years.

Ann and Nancy had a falling out during HEART 's 2016 tour, when Ann 's husband Dean Welter was arrested for assaulting Nancy 's then-16-year-old twin sons in a backstage altercation at a gig near their hometown of Seattle. He pleaded guilty to two lesser assault charges to avoid jail time.

After completing HEART 's 2016 tour, Nancy formed a new band called ROADCASE ROYALE and released an album, "First Things First" . ROADCASE ROYALE featured three members of HEART along with Liv Warfield from Prince 's NEW POWER GENERATION band and her guitarist Ryan Wilson .

In Nancy 's new band NANCY WILSON'S HEART , she is joined in the group by her longtime collaborators, guitarist Ryan Waters , drummer Ben Smith , bassist Andy Stoller and keyboardist Dan Walker , along with powerhouse singer Kimberly Nichole .
