Sometimes an app’s icon just doesn’t look right on your homescreen. For example, let’s say — just for the sake of argument — that the icon for a social networking app was switched from a pretty blue bird to a rather stark “X.” Could you change that icon?

The answer is yes — it’s doable using Apple’s built-in Shortcuts app. You actually won’t be replacing the app’s official icon. Rather, you’ll be creating a separate shortcut that leads to the app. It’s a tedious and time-consuming process, but in the end, you can have a fully customized iPhone homescreen.

Here’s how you do it:

• Before you begin, it’s a good idea to find an icon for your new shortcut. There are a bunch of icon sources online ( Flaticon , for example), or if you’re artistic and / or ambitious, you can create your own. Whether you use someone else’s or your own, it’s easiest to save the image to Photos.
• Okay, let’s begin. Find and tap on the Shortcuts app. It’s pre-installed; if you can’t see it immediately on your homescreen, swipe left until you’re at the App Library and start typing “Shortcuts” into the top search bar.
• Once you’re in the app, tap on the plus sign in the upper-right corner.
• On the top of the screen, you’ll see that your new shortcut will be named something like “New Shortcut 1.” If you’d rather have your own name, tap on the arrow next to it and select Rename .

• Once you’ve got your shortcut named, tap on the Add Action button below the name.
• You’ll find yourself on a page that, at first glance, may seem a bit confusing. Basically, you’re looking at all the various things that you can do with Shortcuts. While it would be worth it to spend some time here and try out some customizations, right now, what we want to do is change your app icon.

• Type Open app in the search bar and then tap on the Open App link that will show up.
• Tap on the word App that appears (rather faintly) next to the word Open in the search bar.

• You’ll see a list of your phone’s apps; pick the one you want to customize. The name of the app will now be next to the word Open .
• If you are using iOS 16, tap Done in the upper-right corner. You’ll be taken back to your shortcut page. (If you’re using the iOS 17 public beta, you can go directly to the next step.)
• Select the information icon (an “i” in a circle) at the bottom of the screen.
• Tap Add to Home Screen . 

• You’ll now see a preview of the icon (which will be a standard, uninteresting icon that Shortcuts automatically adds). Don’t worry — we’re going to make it better.
• Tap on the icon under Home Screen Name and Icon . You’ll have the choice of either taking a photo, choosing a photo, or choosing a file. Assuming you’ve already saved an image in Photo, tap on Choose Photo and select the photo you want to use.
• If you’ve chosen an existing photo, a highlighted area will indicate what part of the photo will appear as an icon; you can move the photo around until you’re happy with the section indicated. Tap Choose in the lower-right corner.

• Now, you’ll see your new icon. If you haven’t added a name for your new shortcut, you can still do it here by typing the name next to the icon.
• All ready? Tap Add in the upper right corner.
• You should see your new customized icon on your homescreen. Congrats!

You can also hide the original app icon so you’ll just have the new one visible. (You don’t want to delete it completely, of course; that would delete the app.)

• Long-press on your wallpaper until all your icons start wiggling. Tap on the minus sign of the app you want to hide.
• On the pop-up menu, tap Remove from Home Screen . The original icon won’t be deleted, just hidden; you can always find it in the App Library.

One note: when you use your new icon to go to the app, you will occasionally get a small drop-down notice that tells you what the original app is called and reminds you of the fact that it is a shortcut. But the drop-down will only last for a second or two, so it shouldn’t be much of a bother.

6 Ways to Fix Safari Disappeared from iPhone Home Screen

First things first. You cannot uninstall the Safari browser from your iPhone. If the Safari icon is missing on your iPhone, there could be other reasons for that. For instance, the Safari icon might be inside a folder, on a hidden home screen, or you might have accidentally deleted it from the home screen . Another possibility is that Safari might be turned off in screen time restrictions. Whatever the reason, this post shall help you in fixing Safari disappeared from your iPhone.

Safari is the default browser on iPhones . So one can imagine the fright if a person can’t find Safari on iPhone. But don’t worry, we are here to help you in getting the disappeared Safari icon back on your iPhone. Let’s get started.

Note: Before you try the below-mentioned solutions, please restart your iPhone once.

1. Look for Safari in Folders

If the Safari icon has gone missing from the iPhone home screen, start by looking inside the home screen folders. You might have accidentally moved Safari from the main page to a folder. You should also swipe right or left inside the folders to check all the apps. If you find Safari inside a folder, long-press it and drag it to the home screen.

2. Use Search to Find and Add Safari to Home Screen

iPhones come with the spotlight feature that lets you find apps, contacts, settings, etc. You can use it to find and add the disappeared Safari icon back to the home screen on your iPhone.

Step 1: Go to the home screen of your iPhone and swipe down to open search.

Step 2: Type Safari. The Safari icon should show up in the search results.

Step 3: Touch and hold the Safari icon and drag it upwards slightly to go to the home screen. Lift your finger from the Safari icon to place it on the home screen.

3. Get Safari Back on iPhone Home Screen Using App Library

If you accidentally removed Safari from the home screen, another way to look for the lost Safari icon is from the App Library on your iPhone. For the unaware, the App Library is the home screen page that shows all your installed apps and groups them in folders in one place.

Follow these steps to put Safari back on the home screen using App Library:

Step 1: From your iPhone’s home screen, swipe left multiple times to go to the last screen, which should look like this:

Step 2 : Tap on the search bar at the top. If you don’t see the search bar, slightly swipe down.

Step 3: Type Safari in the search bar. The Safari icon will appear in the search results. Touch and hold it and select ‘Add to Home Screen’ from the menu.

Note : If the ‘Add to Home Screen’ option is missing, touch and hold the Safari icon and drag it upwards to go to the home screen. Leave the Safari icon on the home screen and it should be added back on the home screen.

4. Unhide Home Screen Page

If the Safari icon has gone missing along with other app icons, there are chances that you might have hidden a home screen page .

To unhide a home screen page on your iPhone, follow these steps:

Step 1: On your iPhone’s home screen, touch and hold the page dots at the bottom until you see the thumbnails of your home screen.

Step 2: The pages that have checkmarks under them are enabled. Look for the page having the Safari browser and tap on the selection circle under it to enable it.

That’s it. No, go to your phone’s home screen and you should see the Safari icon.

5. Remove Screen Time Restrictions from iPhone

If you can’t find Safari on your iPhone using the above methods, you must check and remove screen time restrictions from the Safari app. To do so, follow these steps:

Step 1: Open Settings on your iPhone.

Step 2: Go to Screen Time followed by ‘Content & Privacy Restrictions’.

Step 3: Tap on Allowed Apps.

Note: On earlier iOS versions, you will have to go to Screen time > Content Privacy & Restrictions > Content Privacy > Allowed Apps.

Step 4: Turn off the toggle next to Safari. It should turn green.

That’s it. Go to your home screen and you should see the Safari app. If the Safari icon is missing, use the above methods to put it back on the home screen.

Tip: If Screen Time is turned off on your iPhone but the Safari icon is still missing, you should try turning Screen Time on. Then, follow the above steps to turn Safari off and on. Finally, turn off Safari time.

6. Reset Home Screen Layout

Lastly, you should try the final step of resetting the home screen layout of your iPhone. Doing so will delete folders that you have created on the home screen and put all the pre-installed Apple apps including Safari at their original location. This will help in restoring Safari back to the home screen.

Note : Your apps or files will not be deleted by resetting Home Screen layout.

To reset the home screen layout, go to Settings > General > Transfer or Reset > Reset > Reset Home Screen Layout.

FAQs About Safari on Home Screen

First, add the Safari app icon to the home screen. Then, long press the Safari icon and drag it towards the dock. Please note the dock can have only 4 icons at a time. You will have to remove one of the icons from the dock to add Safari to it.

Open the website in Safari browser. Tap on the Share icon and select ‘Add to Home Screen’ from the share sheet.

It can be quite frustrating to find Safari browser missing on iPhone, just when you wanted to look for something on the internet. You can find below the steps to fix the issue of Missing Safari Icon on iPhone or iPad.

Safari Disappeared from iPhone Home Screen

When Safari Icon disappears from the Home screen on iPhone, most users start thinking about the possibility of the Safari App being accidentally deleted by them or by someone with access to their device.

However, this is never the case as Apple prevents users from deleting essential Apps and Safari happens to be one of the most essential native Apps that cannot be deleted from an Apple device.

In most cases, the problem of Missing Safari Icon ends up being due to the Safari App being accidentally moved to one of the Home Screens or being hidden in a Folder on the App Library screen.

A less common reason for Safari Icon missing or disappearing from the Home screen on iPhone or iPad is due to the Safari App being restricted by Screen Time Settings.

1. Check All Home Screens & Folders

As mentioned above, the most common reason for Safari Icon missing on iPhone or iPad is due to the Safari App being accidentally moved to another Home Screen or a Folder.

Hence, the first step would be to carefully go through all the Home screens on your device and look for Safari App. Also, go through all Folders and make sure that Safari Icon is not hiding in a Folder on your device.

2. Search For Safari Browser On iPhone

Follow the steps below to ask your iPhone to look for the Missing Safari App Icon.

1. Bring up the Search bar on the Home screen of your iPhone ( Swipe down or Swipe left , depending on the model of your iPhone).

2.  Type Safari in the Search bar and this should bring up Safari App in the search results.

3. Tap & Hold the Safari Icon , drag it upwards slightly and release the finger to place Safari Icon back on the Home Screen of your device.

Note: Even if Safari App is hidden in a Folder, you will see the name of the Folder in which the Safari App Icon is hidden on your device.

3. Look For Safari in App Library

If you had accidentally removed Safari from the Home screen, it should be available in the App Library on your iPhone.

1. Swipe Left on the Home screen of your iPhone, until you reach the App Library screen.

2. On App Library screen, type Safari in the Search bar and you should find Safari appearing in the Search results.

3. Once Safari appears in the search results, tap and hold on Safari Icon and select Add to Home Screen option.

This should immediately bring the Safari Icon back on the Home Screen of your device.

4. Unhide Home Screen

Another possibility is that you may have accidentally moved Safari to another Home screen and also hidden that Home Screen.

1. Tap & Hold on the Dots located on the Home Screen of your iPhone.

2. Look for Safari Icon in the Thumbnails and tap below the Thumbnail that contains the Safari Icon (if it does not have the check mark).

3. This will unhide the Screen containing Safari Icon and you will find Safari back on the Home screen of your iPhone.

5. Reset Home Screen

An easy way to get native Apps like Safari back to their default position on the Home screen of iPhone or iPad is to Reset the Home Screen.

1. Go to Settings >  General > Transfer or Reset iPhone and tap the Reset  option.

2. On the Reset Screen, select Reset Home Screen Layout option.

As mentioned above, resetting the Home Screen should bring back the Safari Icon to its usual position on the Home screen of your iPhone or iPad.

6. Disable Restrictions on Safari App

You may have accidentally or intentionally placed restrictions on Safari App, in order to prevent the possibility of your children accessing the internet and using up all your data.

1.  Open  Settings > Go to Screen Time > Content & Privacy Restrictions > Allowed Apps .

2. On Allowed Apps screen, move the toggle next to Safari to  ON  position.

Note: If you are using Screen Time Passcode , you will be prompted to enter Screen Time Passcode.

How to Use Our Free iOS 17 Icons

1 download the icons.

If you haven't already, download the icon pack above on your phone (or elsewhere), and save it to "Files" on your iPhone so you can access the folder from your device (or you can save it to "Photos" if you'd prefer)

2 Open the "Shortcuts" app and tap "+"

You'll be creating a "Shortcut" to your app, which will add a new icon for it on your homescreen that adds a new way to get to your app.

3 Tap "Add Action"

4 Tap "Scripting"

5 Tap "Open App"

6 Tap "Choose"

At this step, choose the app you'd like to create your new icon for.

7 Tap the "Share" icon at the bottom

8 Tap "Add to Home Screen"

9 Tap the "Icon" button

This will bring up a file picker for you to choose your new icon for the app. This might be in "Files" or "Photos", depending on where you've saved the icons in Step 1.

How to Change the App Icons on Your iPhone's Home Screen

Making custom iPhone app icons is a great way to customize your home screen aesthetic and give it a fresh look.

You can redesign the app icons on your home screen in any style you wish, and it's super easy and fun to do.

You don't need to be a designer or techie, nor do you need expensive photo editing tools for this. With a few free tools, you can give your iPhone home screen a facelift.

Create Custom App Icons on iPhone

Before we get started, here's what you're going to need to create custom iPhone app icons:

• Your iPhone needs iOS 14 or later.
• Canva's free version (Although the paid version would get you more features, you can survive with the free one).
• Shortcuts app (It's a free app that comes with your iPhone)
• You can either use your iPhone or a desktop computer. (whichever works best for you)

1. Create a 1024 X 1024 Pixels Design

These will be the dimensions of your custom app so they can look good when they're sized down on your home screen.

Log in to your Canva account. If you don't have an account, sign up for one; it's free. Click the purple "Create a new design" button at the top right of the screen.

Alternatively, click the "Custom size" button below it or search for "iOS icon" in the search bar.

2. Add a Background Image/Color

After creating your design dimensions, you'll have a blank canvas to work on. Choose your desired color or background that fits your aesthetic.

To add a color, click anywhere on the canvas, then click the background color at the top left of the screen. Pick the color that you want, and then you can start with the app icon.

Click the "Photos" or "Background" buttons in the left toolbar to add a photo or a background to your canvas.

If you want to use your own image, click the "Uploads" button to upload the image you want for your background.

Be mindful that you won't be able to use premium elements (the ones that say Pro) on a free account. For that, you'd need to upgrade your account.

3. Add Your App Icons

You can use Canva's vast library of icons to add an icon to your design or add your own.

Click on "Elements" and search for the icon that you want. Let's try Pinterest. Feel free to resize the icon to your desired size and center it horizontally and vertically on the canvas.

To do so, click the icon, then click "Position" at the top. This will open a panel on the left with a bunch of options to choose from. Under the "Align to page" section, select "Center" and "Middle."

4. Edit Your iCon Colors

As you can see, the black icon on a dark green background doesn't look appealing to the eyes. Let's change that.

To edit the color of the icon, select it and click the color box at the top left of the screen. From there, pick the color that you want for your icon.

I can choose a white or light green icon for this design. Let's find a cool light green color for the icon.

5. Save Your Design

You can save the design once you're done and happy with your icon. Click the "Share" button at the top right, then click "Download."

To save time and streamline the process, you can create a collection of app icons within a single design project.

Add a new page after each icon to design multiple icons within the same project. After completing the designs, save them to your phone's camera roll or the "Files app" for easy access.

Name each icon page to ensure each design has a specific name when saved. This will simplify searching and locating specific app icons in the phone's File App.

How to Change Your App Icons With Shortcuts

Now that you've created your custom iPhone apps, how do you actually add them to your home screen?

That's where the Shortcuts app comes into play. If you are unfamiliar with this app, it's a tool by Apple that automates specific tasks (or sequences of tasks) on your iPhone.

Check our guide to learn how to create a shortcut on your iPhone. Now, let's use the Shortcuts app to add custom icons to your iPhone home screen.

1. Launch the Shortcuts app on your iPhone and hit the plus sign (+) at the top right, directing you to the New Shortcut page.

2. Select the Add Action button.

3. Press the Scripting option.

4. Tap Open App , then select "App" highlighted in blue.

Alternatively, you can search for "Open App" in the search bar at the bottom of the screen. You may also see Open App appear under Next Action Suggestions .

5. Search for the app you're creating a custom icon for. In my case, I'm going to pick Pinterest.

6. After picking the app, tap "i" at the bottom of the screen, then select "Add to Home Screen."

7. Tap on New Shortcut to rename the app. (it could be the same as the original app or your own custom name).

8. Tap the shortcut icon to change the image. Select Choose Photo (or Choose File if you downloaded an icon to your iPhone).

9. Then, tap "Add" at the top right of the screen.

10. The new app icon will appear on your Home Screen.

11. Open the Shortcuts app again and tap "Done" twice to return to the main screen.

12. Tap the three dots on the shortcut you just created.

13. Tap "Open App" at the top and tap "Rename" to name your shortcut. I like to give each shortcut a descriptive name so I can quickly understand what it does.

Creating a custom iPhone icon with the Shortcuts app won't replace the original icon on your Home Screen, so you'll need to hide the original app.

Wrap-Up: Create Custom iPhone Apps

It's worth mentioning that while designing personalized icons is entertaining, it has its limitations.

For instance, tapping the personalized icon doesn't lead straight to the app. It first launches the Shortcuts app, which then redirects you to the desired app.

Moreover, you won't have the extended press menu features the original icon offers. With a custom icon, your long-press options are limited to either Edit Home Screen or Delete Bookmark , which is the custom icon.

How to Put Safari Back in the Dock at Bottom of iPhone or iPad Home Screen

Safari and all of the other apps currently installed on your iPhone or iPad, whether they are on your Home Screen or not, can be found in your App Library .

Putting Safari back

Here is how to get Safari from the App Library:

• On your iPhone or iPad, swipe left on your Home Screen pages until you get to the last page. Swipe left again to see your App Library.
• In the search field, type Safari .
• Tap on Add to Home Screen .
• If you have space in the Dock, Safari will appear there. Otherwise, Safari will appear on one of your Home Screens.
• Your right-most Home Screen will appear. If you want to drop it on one of your Home Screen pages, just keep dragging it until you get to the desired spot on the page, then release it.
• If you want it in your Dock at the bottom of your screen, drag it down to the Dock, position it where you would like and release.
• To reposition Safari, press and hold on the icon until all icons begin to wiggle. Then you can drag Safari to the desired location. Tap Done in the top-right corner of your screen.

The apps on your iPhone or iPad can be deleted, removed from the Home Screen or hidden (you can even hide entire Home Screen pages if you want to). If you need to recover deleted apps for your device, you should be able to download them again from the App Store (assuming they are still available).

Fix blank white website

I was opening Dialogflow on Google Chrome, signed in to a certain account but it won't load everything

When I signed in to a different account it loads. So the problem is the account. Safari has the similar problem too.

Resolving attempts..

• Restarted Chrome and Safari didn't work
• Restarted my iPad didn't work.
• Reloading website didn't work.
• closing and making tabs didn't work
• Cleared History, Cookies and site data didn'twork
• Asked in Google Community forum but nobody responded almost a year.

Help I can't take this anymore.

I know it is google-related but I would like to encourage you to answer this question.

Try double clicking the Home button or swipe up from the bottom of the screen and swipe Safari upwards. Go to Settings/Safari and clear History and Website Data. Open Safari and test.

Are you running any anti - virus programs? Using a VPN?

If the problem is still there, try booting into the Safe Mode using your normal account.  Disconnect all peripherals except those needed for the test. Shut down the computer and then power it back up after waiting 10 seconds. Immediately after hearing the startup chime, hold down the shift key and continue to hold it until the gray Apple icon and a progress bar appear. The boot up is significantly slower than normal. This will reset some caches, forces a directory check, and disables all startup and login items, among other things. When you reboot normally, the initial reboot may be slower than normal. If the system operates normally, there may be 3rd party applications which are causing a problem. Try deleting/disabling the third party applications after a restart by using the application un-installer or by using the developer’s uninstall instructions. For each disable/delete, you will need to restart if you don't do them all at once.

The Sunday Read: ‘What Deathbed Visions Teach Us About Living’

Chris Kerr was 12 when he first observed a deathbed vision. His memory of that summer in 1974 is blurred, but not the sense of mystery he felt at the bedside of his dying father. Throughout Kerr’s childhood in Toronto, his father, a surgeon, was too busy to spend much time with his son, except for an annual fishing trip they took, just the two of them, to the Canadian wilderness. Gaunt and weakened by cancer at 42, his father reached for the buttons on Kerr’s shirt, fiddled with them and said something about getting ready to catch the plane to their cabin in the woods. “I knew intuitively, I knew wherever he was, must be a good place because we were going fishing,” Kerr told me.

Kerr now calls what he witnessed an end-of-life vision. His father wasn’t delusional, he believes. His mind was taking him to a time and place where he and his son could be together, in the wilds of northern Canada.

Kerr followed his father into medicine, and in the last 10 years he has hired a permanent research team that expanded studies on deathbed visions to include interviews with patients receiving hospice care at home and with their families, deepening researchers’ understanding of the variety and profundity of these visions.
