Members of One Direction Reportedly Just Recorded New Music Together

Excuse me???????

Hearts broke around the world when One Direction announced they were going on "hiatus" following their last tour as a band in 2015.

Since then, hopes for a reunion have been rife among fans (hi), hopes which were promptly slashed time after time—like when we thought we would finally get something for their 10-year anniversary in 2020, but all we got was a website full of memories from brighter times.

But now, it's looking like we might be able to hope once more, because a report has emerged that band members Niall Horan and Louis Tomlinson recently hopped into the studio with Liam Payne (he of "I used to be in 1D, now I'm free" fame).

Sources told The Sun that, while Payne was working on his second solo studio album in Los Angeles, his former bandmates came to hang out or jam or something, and ended up contributing vocals to one of the songs.

"Liam is great pals with Niall and Louis, so loved catching up with them while they were all in L.A.," an insider said.

"Being in the studio together felt natural, so they all jumped on a track.

"It was second nature to them singing together and felt like old times. They had a right laugh.

"Producers are hoping Liam includes it on his finished album, fans will love it."

"Love" is putting it mildly, if you ask me.

News of Payne's upcoming album comes amid what sounds like a happier season for the singer, who recently revealed that he is "over 100 days" sober.

"I feel amazing. I feel really, really good," he told iFL TV . "The support from the fans and everything has been really, really good, so I'm super happy."

Of course, those with a soft spot for former band members Harry Styles and Zayn Malik will be disappointed to hear that they were not included in the mini reunion, but here's hoping all five boys are thriving on whichever path they choose.

Let’s face it, the possibility of a One Direction reunion is an idea that every fan has had on their mind since the group called it quits in 2016. Rumors have circulated, of course, but it’s only gossip.

News broke that bandmates Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan , Liam Payne, and Harry Styles decided to “not renew their recording contract” after the fifth member, Zayn Malik, abruptly exited the band in 2015. “My life with One Direction has been more than I could ever have imagined. But, after five years, I feel like it is now the right time for me to leave the band. I’d like to apologize to the fans if I’ve let anyone down, but I have to do what feels right in my heart,” Malik said in a statement to the group’s official Facebook page. “I am leaving because I want to be a normal 22-year-old who is able to relax and have some private time out of the spotlight. I know I have four friends for life in Louis, Liam, Harry and Niall. I know they will continue to be the best band in the world.” But after Styles appeared on James Corden ’s final episode of The Late Late Show in April 2023, rumors began circulating of a possible 1D reunion.

Is One Direction reuniting?

Is One Direction reuniting? Nothing has been confirmed but Harry Styles participated in the very last Spill Your Guts or Eat Your Guts—a popular segment on The Late Late Show With James Corden that asks guests to reveal the answers to hot questions or eat something gross—and teased the possibility of a 1D reunion.

“Yes or no, will there be a One Direction reunion? Will it ever happen?” Styles said, reading the question in the episode that aired on April 27, 2023. “I fear that it’s not a yes or no question. I think I would never say never to that. If there was a time when we wanted to do it, I don’t see why we wouldn’t.”

After The Mirror reported that the boy band’s full lineup was rumored to make an appearance during Corden’s final episode of the show on April 27, the official Late Late Show Twitter account shut down any speculation. “Nobody loves the boys more than us… but this story just isn’t true,” the show’s official account tweeted. “What is true is we’ve got an absolutely brilliant 2-hour finale planned to celebrate 8 years of #LateLateShow at 10 pm on April 27th.”

Late Late Show executive producer Ben Winston went on to reveal that getting the group back together for the show was practically impossible. “I don’t think it was even logistically possible,” he told Metro.co.uk . “I don’t know the ins and outs of their diary. We got a message out early because we saw that bubbling online and a lot of stuff can be said online and it’s taken as fact. The team saw that and we’ve got such a beautiful finale planned, the last thing we wanted was for everyone to be disappointed by our finale.”

Speaking about Styles being one of the last guests, Winston added: “We knew that Harry was coming on at the time, so we didn’t want to say ‘Harry’s coming on’ and then suddenly those rumors go even further. We didn’t want to let anyone down and pretend that [reunion] was happening when it’s not.”

He continued: “James and I have been such massive fans of One Direction since the beginning, I did their music videos and produced their [concert] movie. So I’m a huge One Direction fan and I wouldn’t want to upset any One Direction fans that thought something was happening.” He concluded: “So rather than tease everybody and pretend it was happening to get better ratings, I was pleased we could set the record straight. Some of them still don’t believe us, but we’re really not.”

A year after One Direction split in 2016, Styles debuted as a solo artist with his first single, “Sign of the Times” from his debut self-titled album. Since then, Styles has released two more albums—2019’s  Fine Line  and 2022’s  Harry’s House  (both of which reached number one on the Billboard 200—as well as has won a Grammy for his 2019 single, “Watermelon Sugar.” In an interview with  NPR  in 2020, Styles opened up about his thoughts on fame and meeting his idols. “I think ultimately you meet [other famous people] and you’re kind of in awe of them, but at the same time you get to hang out with them on this human level, where you’re just talking and it’s really amazing,” he said.

“Those are the moments that kind of mean the most because it’s real. And when everything else about being in music goes away, that’s the stuff that I think you end up telling your grandkids. For example, with Stevie, my favorite moments about it aren’t usually the show, it’s the practicing. When we first played together, it was at the Troubadour — famously, where Elton John did his first U.S. show — and it was an amazing moment, but my favorite was soundchecking. It’s like four people in there and just us singing in the empty Troubadour. For me, that’s a moment that I’m going to hold on to.”

Proof is one direction getting back together everything they’ve said about a reunion.

Ever since they announced they were taking an indefinite hiatus in 2015, fans of One Direction have been patiently waiting for the band to return.

The group (which consisted of Louis Tomlinson ,  Niall Horan , Liam Payne ,  Harry Styles  and  Zayn Malik ) was put together by  Simon Cowell  on July 23, 2010, after they all auditioned on  The X Factor as solo artists. On July 23, 2020, the boys celebrated their 10-year anniversary with the launch of  an “immersive and interactive” website .

According to  a press release , the site took the “form of a timeline charting the history of the group, from the first audition right up to the start of their hiatus. It will host an archive of music videos, artwork, TV performances, behind-the-scenes and rarely-seen content, all in one place.” There was also a new video that highlighted the band’s career from the start to releasing “History.”

A few months after the epic 1D milestone, Liam said he’s hoping for more One Direction coming soon. “I think we just need a proper catch up actually,” he said during a December 2020 interview with CapitalFM . “It was nice to catch up for the ten year anniversary. I’m hoping we’ve got a lot more to come from us.”

Months later, in March 2021, Niall reflected on his time in the band and what it was like dealing with fans at the height of 1D’s fame. “I struggled with the idea of, ‘Why won’t you just let us out?'” the singer recalled on People, Just People . “But, you can’t get inside the brain of a fan and now I completely get it, but at the time, you’re like, ‘You’re our age. Just let us out.'”

Despite their busy schedules, the boys are still close. In fact, in June 2021 during an Instagram Live , Liam revealed that he and Harry had a “lovely” phone conversation. “I spoke to him and it was a really lovely catch up actually, and I’ve got a lot of love for the man. He’s great, he’s really, really great,” the singer said, noting that he’d love for all the boys “to get in a room at some point.” We’d love that too!

Rumors Have Never ‘Stopped’

“It’s not like it’s ever stopped. It’s just, like, the conversation hasn’t happened. It’s a great legacy to have. No, I don’t think it sucks the air out the room. It’s more, the answer’s still the same,” Niall said during an interview with Zane Lowe on Apple Music 1 in June 2023. “The conversation hasn’t happened. We speak regularly, but that conversation hasn’t happened. God knows whether it ends up being. It could be like the Friends reunion, it could be a whole tour. God knows what it is, but no, it hasn’t been spoken about.”

‘Never Say Never’

“I would never say never to that,” Harry said after being asked about a 1D reunion on The Late Late Show with James Corden in April 2023. “If there was a time where we all felt like that was what we wanted to do, I don’t see why we wouldn’t.”

Maybe In the Future

“Getting back together at some point is hard to imagine right now,” Louis sheared during an interview with U.K.’s The Times in February 2023. “But I’d be surprised if we lived out our lives and didn’t have a moment where we had a reunion, or whatever you want to call it. I’d be up for that.”

“No one really talks about [a reunion],” he admitted on the  Jonathan Ross Show in June 2021. “If everyone wanted to do it, I’d be down for it. They’re probably slim right now, currently. We need to all get in the same room and have a chat. I don’t know when that would be.”

Niall continued, “Unless everyone was completely in, I wouldn’t want to do it. I wouldn’t want to force someone into doing it.”

“Look I f–king love One Direction,” he told U.K.’s  The Telegraph in November 2020. “I’m sure we’re going to come back together one day, and I’ll be doing a couple of One Direction songs in my gig. I always do that, so that’s not alluding to any reunion or anything. But, I mean, look, I’m sure one day we’ll get back together because, you know, we were f–king great.”

Celebrating 10 Years

“Obviously, we know it’s a very big anniversary and we definitely want to do something. I mean, it’s a tough one. I can’t promise any reunion plans because it just isn’t it right now. I always put it down to music language because everyone’s releasing at the moment with like two years worth of promo,” Liam told People Magazine  in May 2020. “But, you know, it still seems very hopeful in that department. I’m starting to think it’s gonna happen at some point. So it’s exciting.”

He added, “It’s been nice to open up the channels of communication again because we hadn’t spoken for a while. And I think we all needed that after spending so much time together — just to figure out our own selves as people because we all know what we are in the band. We spent so much time together that I didn’t know where the f**k I fit in by the time it finished. It was kind of crazy. But it’s been nice. It’s been so lovely. And it’s just nice to see everyone turned out to be nice people, you know?”

When It Will Happen

“I think we match each other for excitement. Where we left off with the band, we had just finished an album and we didn’t get to tour it so there’s always been that little thing that’s been missing from it,” Liam  explained in May 2020 . “Everyone I’ve spoken to, we always get onto the topic of the reunion at some point, it’s not like anyone is trying to dodge it, it’s just a matter of when.”

The 10-Year Anniversary

“We’ve got a ten-year anniversary coming up so we’ve all been speaking together a lot over the last few weeks which has been really nice,” Liam also told The Sun in April 2020. “At the moment I’m not sure what I’m allowed to say. There’s a number of different things that we are all working on to try and make happen and people are forwarding emails around. But more than anything it’s just been a real good time for us to connect together again.”

A Virtual Reunion?

Fans were living when the Backstreet Boys had a virtual reunion during the coronavirus pandemic . Yep, because they were practicing social distancing and couldn’t meet up during the outbreak, they all got on video chat together and performed some songs and recorded it for the fans. When the radio hosts from the British morning show Heart Breakfast asked Harry if he was interested in doing something similar with the One Direction, he explained, “I mean we’re not working right now so probably not this second, it would be an interesting way of doing a reunion for sure. It would be an interesting way to reunite.”

He also told Sirius XM  in April 2020, “I don’t know if that is the reunion that we’ve had in mind, and not sure if that would be the way to do, but yeah, I’ll have a quick whip-around.”

Getting Back Together

Liam spoke out about it once again while appearing on The Late, Late Show With James Corden  in April 2020.

“I”m not allowed to say too much obviously because I would be giving it away,” he said. “We’ve been speaking a lot more at the moment, I think we are all feeling that that ten year… It’s a very special moment.”

Nothing Planned Just Yet

In another interview, he insisted that the guys weren’t planning a reunion after all. He explained  in April 2020, “Obviously, there’s a lot of talk about it at the moment, because the 10-year anniversary of the band getting together is happening this year. It’s absolutely nuts, it’s strange. Sometimes it feels like it was yesterday, sometimes it feels like it was 50 years ago. It’s strange, but no, there’s no reunion, as such. We’ve just been talking a bit more, recently.”

A Confident ‘Yes’

While participating in James Corden ‘s Carpool Karaoke in March 2020, the talk show host hooked the singer up to a lie detector test. When he asked him if he thought the band would get back together, Niall said “yes” — which according to the machine, was the truth!

“We’d be absolutely ridiculous not to reform the band,” he told RTE in February 2020. “We haven’t really spoken about the whens, but we know we will. We have all said individually that we will and I think it would be stupid if we didn’t.”

Maybe in the Future

“We’ve been on a break only for about four years, and I’m only now getting around to releasing my first album,” he explained to BBC  in January 2020. “Fans who follow our move every day probably feel like we haven’t been a band for a while, but I’m just finding my feet. It’ll happen at one point. We’d be stupid not to, but we’re just exploring and enjoying life as individuals now.”

Louis Is in Charge

He also told Cosmopolitan in January 2020 that if he had to guess, he’d be the one to send the initial, “Alright boys, let’s do this,” message. But he also admitted that if the guys were to get back together, the music would have to be different. He explained that although the songs were great, they were reflective of the fact that they were being performed by teenagers. As for when the reunion will take place, he said, “Anything past 35 feels too late,” but didn’t want to think too far into the future.

“I think at some point we will get back together. I think we will for sure,” he told Sunday Brunch in December 2019. “I don’t know when that is yet, but all I know is that there are at least two years because everyone’s released new music and you have to go and promo. There are at least two years.”

Talking to the Boys

“We have been talking a lot more recently and I can’t imagine we wouldn’t finish the story where we did,” Liam  revealed in December 2019. “However, the guys are doing so well individually and they are experiencing new things like film and TV, so it will probably be a little while if it ever happens.”

Never Say Never

“I don’t think I’d ever say never,” Harry told Kiss 106.5 in November 2019. “I definitely never say never. You know it was a massive part of my life and something that we always have. It’s a pretty amazing thing to be part of.”

As for when the reunion will take place, he continued, “If a time comes around when everyone wants to do it. We’re all going on tour [next year] but if it works out, well talk about it.”

Even Simon Is Hopeful

Simon , who originally formed the band back on The X Factor , said he thinks the boys will get back together “within five years.”

“My gut feeling is yes,” he said on the U.K. radio show Heart Breakfast  in November 2019. “I mean, they’re all doing great solo wise, at the moment, but they had a lot of hits. So, they could do tour, after tour, after tour. You know you could sell out a One Direction gig, or a stadium tour, in about 20 seconds.”

Finding the Time

“Everybody outwardly in the press has said something but we haven’t really spoke as a collective together,” Liam said on The Jonathan Ross Show in October 2019. “All I can say is, through album cycles and single cycles, I see everybody putting songs out at the moment, I don’t think for at least the next two years it’s going to happen.”

Louis Wasn’t Ready for a Break

“I wasn’t really ready for the band to go on a break,” he told Metro in October 2019. “As far as I am concerned, I am happy doing what I am doing. But the day that [a reunion] does happen, and everyone is ready to do it, I am ready.”

Enjoying Solo Life

“There was no timeline on the gap. I would have preferred if someone said five years, and it probably will end up something like that,” he revealed to The Telegraph in October 2019. “I’m enjoying what I’m doing, but if one of the lads were to pick up the phone and say it’s time, I’d do it.”

Talking With the Boys

“I say different times all the time,” Liam said in an interview with Sirius XM in September 2019, when asked about when the band will reunite. “It’s difficult. I haven’t spoken to Harry in a while, so I don’t know where his head is at with [a reunion.] I heard he mentioned it in some sort of magazine thing or whatever the other day, which is cool.”

But according to the “Strip That Down” crooner, Niall and Louis are definitely on board.

“I think everybody else has been really outspoken. I think they’re ready to go whenever,” he continued. “I think Niall was ready the day we decided to stop. He was like, ‘I’m sure we’re coming back in tomorrow, boys!” He was just ready to go.”

‘100 Percent’

“There’s gotta be! 100 percent,” Louis told 1883 Magazine about a 1D reunion in 2019. “As far as I’m concerned, we are all good at doing our individual stuff right now and it’s great for yourself as an individual, but the day we do get back together will be a magical day for all of us. I think everyone is in the same boat when it comes to this. It’s inevitable and the question is just when are we going to do it. Now that we are on this break, I can look back and say it was massive, but looking from the other side you can see the influence and the importance. That’s really cool, just seeing our positive influence. We were such a powerhouse. It’s a no-brainer. I’m the first to sign the sheets to get back together.”

Harry Is on Board

“I don’t think I’d ever say I’d never do it again, because I don’t feel that way. If there’s a time when we all really want to do it, that’s the only time for us to do it, because I don’t think it should be about anything else other than the fact that we’re all like, ‘Hey, this was really fun. We should do this again,’” he told Rolling Stone  in August 2019. “But until that time, I feel like I’m really enjoying making music and experimenting. I enjoy making music this way too much to see myself doing a full switch, to go back and do that again. Because I also think if we went back to doing things the same way, it wouldn’t be the same, anyway.”

It’s ‘Inevitable’

“I do think it will happen,” he told ITN in May 2019. “I’d certainly have something to say about it if it didn’t. I think it’s inevitable. ‘When?’ is the big question. That’s something none of us really know the answer to at the moment.”

Staying In Touch

And when asked if he still keeps in touch with the boys, Louis confirmed once again that they’re as close as ever .

“Absolutely yeah, we all keep in contact you know what I mean, the lads sent me some messages,” he told KIIS 106.5  in April 2019 while promoting his hit song “Two Of Us.” “I’ve had a text from all the lads actually about the song so that was really nice.”

Plus, he dropped a major hint about the reunion once again.

“And in terms of getting back together… at some point obviously,” Louis continued. “Like you know what I mean, we’ve got a lot of people that we owe it to really. So I think everyone’s on the same page now. We’re all just doing our own thing.”

Hitting the Road Again

“My dream is that one day we go back on tour together as a band. That would be f–king ace,” he told House of Solo Magazine in March 2019.

Having Discussions About When

“We haven’t started talking about it yet, but the truth is that it would be wrong not to meet even one day, it would be wrong for fans too,” Louis told Vanity Fair Italy in March 2019. “The problem is to say when. We are all engaged in our careers. I saw Liam at X Factor , he came in an episode as a guest judge . We talked a lot, it was nice. Then I went to see Niall on tour. The truth is that we can’t hear each other or see each other much, but we have a unique, uncommon bond.”

Missing the Band

“I miss the band every day – I’d be lying if I said I didn’t. Of course I do,” Louis told inews.co.uk in February 2019. “It was an amazing time, so when you don’t have that same rhythm, you feel it. But that’s what drives me. It gives me something to aim for again. And obviously in an ideal world, who knows when, we get back together at some point and you know… whatever. But having that idea in my head of working really hard every single day, that gave me a target.”

Estimating a Reunion Date

Speaking to  Daily Star , at the BRIT Awards in February 2019, the “Strip That Down” crooner explained, “Last time I said a date it was 2020 and we’re still not there yet so I’m just going to go with that and we will have to wait. Everyone’s enjoying doing their own thing.”

A Possibility

When asked if there’s a chance that 1D could get back together at the BMI Awards in October 2018, Liam said, “There is, definitely.”

“I saw Louis recently for something that I cannot say,” he continued (we now know he was referring to The X Factor .) “I’ve been in touch with Niall and Harry a little bit. I think it would be nice if we could get back together, but we’ll see. In time. All in good time.”

‘Enjoying’ Their Time Off

“We’re all just enjoying our time, but for me, there’s no way with a band like One Direction that it’s not going to happen again,” Louis said in September 2018. “It’s just impossible to say when. It’s got to.”

Doing Their Own Thing

“This is kind of like a little chapter in the middle where we’re doing our own thing,” he told  Billboard   during Pop Shop podcast in July 2018. “You can’t rule anything out really, can you? I suppose right now it would be a bit weird, but I never rule anything out, to be honest.”

Wanting to Tour

While speaking to Nick Grimshaw during the BBC Radio 1 breakfast show in April 2018, the singer had some epic ideas for their reunion tour.

“This is the only way One Direction could get any bigger than it was. These next couple years, if we do well in our solo careers, imagine the concert of five massive solo artists coming together and doing their own thing. You’ll get five concerts in one! It will be amazing,” Liam said. “I think [we] could pop out with different tunes at different times. And people could join in. Maybe Louis could do the J Balvin rap [in “Familiar”].”

He added, “Patience is key. It will be all worth while for the viewers and people who are massive fans later on. It’s going to be even better for you than expected so just hold tight.”

Whisperings of a Reunion

“I feel like it’s going to happen soon, I’ve got a feeling,” Liam  said on MTV’s TRL  in October 2017 . “I’m excited for it. I want it to happen. There was a whole album that we didn’t tour, I know we need to go and write some more music. It was so much fun and everyone loves it so much so we have to go again, for sure.”

A Longer Break

“It’s only been two years, or less than two years [since we took a break]. It’s like two years in my life. I’m hoping to live a long life, so two years out of it is not a very long time neither is three or neither is four,” Niall told The Irish Sun in September 2017. “We have to just wait until everyone’s ready to go again, we’ll go again. It’d be nice to think that we stopped at a high point, it’d be nice to pick up from there.”

“Maybe at some point everyone will want to do something again but it’s better if it happens naturally,” he said in his June 2017  Another Man cover story. “If that were to happen it would be amazing. No Doubt About It

“It will definitely happen, of course,” he said to the Australian radio show Smallzy’s Surgery in February 2017. “As I’ve said many times, we’d be stupid not to. I’m doing [my music], going to be doing a bit of a tour. Harry’s got his movie coming out, Harry’s doing his thing. Louis’s doing his thing and Liam’s doing his thing. A year has gone so quick already. But when [a reunion] does happen, it’s going to be great.”

And while speaking to Dan Wootton in 2017,  he was sure the band would reunite.

“There is no question of if – it’s a must. And I think we’re all on the same page with that one. It would be too difficult for any of us to say no,” the “Back To You” crooner said .

One direction, taylor swift welcomed fans to 'the tortured poets department' in sweet hand-written record store…, trending on billboard.

However, Horan assured that he’ll be performing some One Direction songs on upcoming shows in support of his The Show album. “I’ve never been one to hide away from it. They’re great songs,” he said. “There’s so many on there that feel like my kind of stuff as well. And it’s good to make new versions of as well.”

Horan’s third studio album,  The Show , will be  arriving on June 9.  Heartbreak Weather , the crooner’s previous LP, peaked at No. 4 on the  Billboard 200  in March 2020.

One Direction 10-Year Anniversary Plans Confirmed For July 23

One Direction is set to celebrate their 10th anniversary of Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson and Zayn Malik becoming a band, according to Simon Jones, amid reunion rumours.

One Direction’s 10-year anniversary plans are finally happening!

According to PR Simon Jones,  Harry Styles , Niall Horan , Liam Payne , Louis Tomlinson and Zayn Malik’s long-anticipated plans will be taking place on July 23, amid reunion rumours.

One Direction Reunion Tweet Is Giving Fans The Hope They Need Ahead Of 10th Anniversary

To celebrate this, there will be a number of things Directioners can look forward to!

Simon shared a post which read: “There will be a brand new 1D anniversary website, a 10-year celebration video especially made for their fans, and interactive playlists and activations across digital platforms.”

It continued: "A special ‘10 Years of One Direction’ website will launch on 23rd July, that will be an immersive and exciting interactive fan experience.

"The site will take the form of a timeline charting the history of the group, from the first audition right up to the start of their hiatus. It will host an archive of music videos, artwork, TV performances, behind-the-scenes and rarely-seen content, all in one place.

"Fans will also be able to generate their own shareable ‘mixtape’ playlist on the site, which will be personalised according to how they’ve interacted with the site’s content and the eras they’ve spent the most time exploring.

"It will also allow fans to connect to Spotify or Apple Music, with the mixtape playlists being saved to their respective accounts.”

If that isn’t exciting enough, there will be a YouTube celebration video released on July 23, with the statement adding: "The video will document highlights of the band's career, from forming on The X Factor to releasing their single 'History', including clips from music videos, performances and candid behind the scenes video content. And of course, the special relationship they have with their fans."

There will also be reformatted EPs which will be released across streaming platforms, featuring b-sides and rare songs, remixes, live recordings and acoustic versions of tracks - easy for fans to find!

Directioners have been anticipating 1D's reunion for quite some time now and we're counting down the days already!

Several One Direction Members Reportedly Reunited in the Recording Studio

"Liam is great pals with Niall and Louis, so loved catching up with them while they were all in LA. Being in the studio together felt natural, so they all jumped on a track," an insider told the UK-based outlet of the trio's alleged reunion. "It was second nature to them singing together and felt like old times. They had a right laugh."

The anonymous source also adds, "Producers are hoping Liam includes it on his finished album, fans will love it."

Reps for the "Night Changes" hitmakers have yet to confirm whether the recording studio reunion is true. The report comes after the band was rumored to reunite on the final episode of James Corden's Late Late Show . "Nobody loves the boys more than us … but this story just isn’t true," the show's official Twitter account shared, debunking the rumor.

There could be a chance that 1D is in fact whipping up some new material — especially since Niall admitted he sends his unreleased solo music to his former bandmates for feedback in Esquire 's "Explain This" YouTube series . The "Heaven" singer is set to release his third solo album, The Show , in June 2023.

"This time I sent it to Louis [Tomlinson], and he gave me his honest opinion on it, which is always handy," Niall told the publication. "We've released enough songs over the years, so we know what's decent and what’s not. All the 1D boys and artists alike, I'll always try and send it around and get everybody's opinion."

We'd love to see the 1D gang back together!

It's been more than 12 years since One Direction formed on The X Factor , turning Harry Styles , Liam Payne , Niall Horan , Louis Tomlinson and former member Zayn Malik into overnight stars. Following Zayn leaving the band in 2015, the remaining members started their hiatus in 2016 - and fans have been calling out for a reunion ever since!

Although fans were hoping for something big to celebrate a decade since the group formed, their 10th anniversary came and went without a reunion in June 2020, however that hasn't dampened our spirits. Join us as we take a look through all of the clues we've had so far pointing towards a potential One Direction reunion...

Has Harry teased a One Direction reunion?

In March 2023, Harry shared an Instagram Story of himself wearing a One Direction T-shirt in a gym. The singer quickly deleted the photo, but that didn't stop fans sharing it widely on social media and speculating that a reunion could be about to happen.

He later told fans at his gig in Auckland: "I guess some of us have secrets! Maybe, maybe like some people, you chose to keep it to yourself and maybe one day, you'll like accidentally post it to your Instagram followers."

What's Liam Payne said about a reunion?

In April 2023, it was reported that Liam was 'desperate' for the One Direction boys to reunite ! Speaking to OK! , a source revealed that following Liam's reunion with Louis at the premiere for his documentary All Of Those Voices, he would love to relaunch his career with a One Direction reunion tour!

They said: "Liam is desperate to get back on the road with the boys. His solo career hasn’t remained as successful as he hoped it would, and work has become stagnant for him.

"In contrast, he can see how well Harry (Styles) is doing and he’d love that level of stardom for himself."

What has Niall Horan said about a reunion?

Niall spoke to Hits Radio in February and when asked about a reunion he said that his answer hadn't changed in about five years. He said: "I don't have any other answer. I've been giving the same answer for about five years." So sadly we might have to wait a bit longer.

Fans were also convinced that Niall and Harry might have had something up their sleeve prior to the release of Niall's third solo album 'The Show' , with many thinking that Harry was going to feature on one (or more) of the tracks. Is Zayn Malik up for a One Direction reunion?

Although Zayn hasn't commented on a One Direction reunion, in 2022 he shared a couple of versions of some old One Direction songs. In August 2022 Zayn shared an uncaptioned, 30-second video of 'Night Changes' , which got fans very excited.

This followed a video that he shared in June 2022 of himself singing 'You and I'.

Will One Direction reunite on The Late Late Show?

Rumours that the band were set to reunite on James Corden's final episode of The Late Late Show have been circulating, causing excitement among fans. However, the talk show responded to the rumours on Twitter and confirmed that the boys won't be reuniting for the finale.

Referencing a news story about a potential One Direction reunion, a tweet from The Late Late Show's official Twitter account read: 'Nobody loves the boys more than us...but this story just isn't true. What's true is we've got an absolutely brilliant 2 hour finale planned to celebrate 8 years of #LateLateShow at 10pm on April 27th.'

In April 2020, as the nation were in lockdown due to the Coronavirus, Harry spoke to SiriusXM Hits 1, jokingly admitting he didn't expect the 1D reunion to be over a Zoom call. He said, "I don't know if a Zoom call is the reunion that we had in mind."

Liam Payne send fans into meltdown

Just days later, Liam Payne sent Directioners into complete meltdown when he revealed a number of emails had been forwarded, admitting it was great for the boys to 'connect' again. Liam said, "We've got a 10-year anniversary coming up so we've all been speaking together a lot over the last few weeks, which has been really nice."

Not long after Liam's interview, eagle-eyed fans noticed Harry, Louis, Liam and Niall had all followed former member Zayn Malik on Twitter, resulting in #OneDirectionReunion to start trending. However, after further inspection, fans were quick to point out that they'd followed Zayn for a while, making it a bit of a false alarm!

Also in April, American showbiz site Page Six reported that One Direction could release new music for their 10th anniversary in July 2020, as well as a TV special!

Liam chatted with The Late Late Show host James Corden in April, where he confessed he'd been in recent contact with both Louis Tomlinson and Niall Horan! He told James he'd enjoyed a 'beautiful' FaceTime with Niall. Aww!

Louis Tomlinson 'tells off' Liam Payne for revealing too much

After Liam got a little excited and started to dish out too much information, the singer revealed during an Instagram Live with Alesso that Louis had 'told him off' for revealing the plans.

Liam Payne hints Zayn Malik is not involved

During the same online chat with Alesso, Liam also seemed to hint that former member Zayn Malik would not be involved in the apparent 2020 reunion, asking Alesso if he would 'join the band' by 'filling in for Zayn'.

With July getting closer, Niall Horan broke the hearts of 1D fans across the world in May when he seemingly shut down all talk of a 2020 reunion. Speaking to his friend Jamie Redknapp on Redknapp's Home Fixture, Niall said, "There was a bit of talk about it because in July it's ten years since the band got together, so everyone was waiting to see if anything was going to happen. 'We've been chatting about it, little bits and pieces that we can do, but nothing in terms of getting the band back together, so for now, no."

Despite many holding out for an actual reunion, 1D will be launching a special website called '10 Years of One Direction', which will go active on Thursday 23rd July, the official date of their anniversary. The website will go through the band's amazing career timelines, from meeting on The X Factor, to going their separate ways as solo artists. As well as this, a load of old content will be visible for fans, including archived TV performances, behind-the-scenes videos, music videos and artwork! A special 10-year celebration video will be made for YouTube, which is sure to bring a tear to the eye as it highlights 1D's global success over the last decade.

2013: One Direction release charity single for Comic Relief

The One Direction boys did their bit for charity in 2013, mashing-up a medley of Blondie's 'One Way or Another' and The Undertones' 'Teenage Kicks'. The track titled 'One Way Or Another (Teenage Kicks)' was released as the official Red Nose Day single in 2013, with then Prime Minister David Cameron even making a cameo appearance in the music video.

Following on from their mammoth 2013 tour, the 1D boys went back out on the road in 2014, this time with their Where We Are Tour. The tour was the band's biggest to date, with over 3,439,560 million fans turning up to see their idols perform.

2014: One Direction release their fourth album

Released in November 2014, One Direction released their final album as a five-piece, titled 'Four'. The album, which featured hits like 'Steal My Girl' and 'Stockholm Syndrome', debuted at Number 1 in a massive 18 countries!

2015: One Direction kick off their On The Road Again Tour

In February 2015, Harry, Zayn, Liam, Louis and Niall kicked off their fourth tour, titled On The Road Again. The tour, which turned out to be their last as a band, grossed $208 million from 80 shows.

2015: Zayn announces he's leaving

Zayn Malik broke the hearts of many One Direction fans in March 2015, announcing he was leaving the popular group. One Direction said in a statement at the time, "After five incredible years Zayn Malik has decided to leave On Direction. Niall, Harry, Liam and Louis will continue as a four-piece and look forward to the forthcoming concerts of their world tour and recording their fifth album, due to be released later this year."

In an exclusive interview with The Messenger following the Voice finale, the One Direction star opened up about his recent experience judging the competition reality show , snagging the top spot alongside contestant Huntley , his exit following this season and his upcoming 2024 tour.

"America has been good to me," he said on winning, but, "I'm gonna have to give it a break. I need to go and see my fans around the world. I need to do that for a bit."

He's passing the baton to next season's judges, country duo Dan + Shay .

"They are actually really good friends of mine," Horan reflected. "And they filled in already this season, and their performance tonight was brilliant. They're great guys. They're the perfect people to do this show. Like they really bounce off each other so well."

While Horan made it clear that he's "gonna miss [ The Voice ]," he does seem ready to focus his energy on touring and not have to fly back and forth to Los Angeles to film.

"We played in like 30 countries and festivals this year, and I was bouncing back to LA every now and then. See these bags? There you go, but it's been a great...in my head, I call it a side hustle."

He was grateful for the new experience, he said. "What I've done for so long is be the artist, write the songs, get up on stage, play them." To do something "completely different" with The Voice , he said, has been a "really fulfilling experience to be part of someone else's deal."

Horan's The Show: Live on Tour kicks off Feb. 20, 2024, in Belfast and travels throughout Europe, Australia, Asia and the United States through September 2024. See his full tour dates here .

Niall Horan Performs Moving Rendition of One Direction's 'Night Changes' at His Biggest Solo Concert to Date

The Irish singer is currently on 'The Show': Live on Tour, his first tour since 2018

Niall Horan has been reflecting on “just how fast the night changes” on his latest tour. 

The former One Direction member, 30, is currently out on his The Show : Live on Tour run, his first solo tour since 2018’s Flicker World Tour, and he just played his biggest solo show to date at the 21,000-capacity AO Arena in Manchester, England. Select songs from 1D’s catalog have made the setlist throughout his tour, and at his Tuesday show in Manchester, he gave a moving performance of “Night Changes.” 

Fans captured videos — some of which have gone viral — of the Irish artist’s performance, which they shared on social media.

Based on the fan-recorded footage, Horan sang the song off 2014’s Four while strumming an acoustic guitar and appearing under a disco ball. He and his band seemingly altered the arrangement of the hit ballad, transforming it into even more of a folky tune.

The “This Town” singer invited fans to join in on the chorus, although it appeared as though thousands chimed in as soon as he played the first note and knew the lyrics word-for-word. 

Several concertgoers posted on social media how thrilled they were that Horan played the romantic 1D fan-favorite. “niall horan playing night changes tonight…my voice will never recover i fear,” one fan posted on X (formerly Twitter) after the Manchester show. 

“Niall Horan singing night changes in 2024 is absolutely everything to me,” another fan wrote on the platform.

Horan has played “Night Changes” at various stops throughout the U.K./European leg of The Show: Live on Tour, according to Setlist.FM . For several nights, including shows in London and Dublin, he swapped the song out of the setlist to instead play a different Four track: “Stockholm Syndrome.”

During his Friday concert at London’s OVO Arena Wembley, the former coach on The Voice even took a moment to look back on his career in the beloved boy band, which dissolved in 2015. Audience members captured video of the musician reminiscing about being on the same stage while filming The X Factor , where the group featuring Horan, Zayn Malik , Liam Payne , Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson was formed. 

“When I was stood practically where I am right now about 14 years ago this July, no way did I ever think that my life would change that drastically, first of all,” Horan said on stage. “And the fact that I never thought 14 years later I’d still be standing here. Some magic things have happened in this building. I’m so glad to be back on the stage. I wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for all of you.”

The “Slow Hands” performer, along with Styles, 30, and Tomlinson, 32, have been known to add 1D songs into their setlist over the years. On his last tour, Horan often played “Fool’s Gold” and “Drag Me Down,” which Tomlinson now integrates into his set. Styles, meanwhile, most often plays their breakout hit “What Makes You Beautiful.” 

Horan is currently on tour in support of his 2023 album The Show . Coming off the massive Manchester concert, he’ll soon play to an even larger audience at the 23,000-capacity Sportpaleis in Antwerp, Belgium as he continues to play across Europe.

After the international leg carries on through the spring in Australia, New Zealand and Asia, the folk-pop star will begin a U.S. tour that kicks off in late May and goes through early August. 

The Heartbreak Weather artist’s live show has been highly anticipated, since he hadn’t toured since the release of his debut solo album Flicker . When Horan announced The Show : Live on Tour, he shared a statement in a press release about his excitement to get back on the road. 

"There's nothing better than watching the crowd sing back to you with all that emotion on their faces and knowing that they're attaching the song to something meaningful in their own lives," he said. "To me, that's always the greatest thing that can ever come from songwriting."

Niall Horan on His Best Love Song and Favorite One Direction Deep Cuts

After One Direction broke up (okay, went on hiatus , if you’re still holding out hope ), Niall Horan struck first. While his fellow members were announcing solo record deals, the band’s guitar-wielding Irish sweetheart took things a step further, dropping a live performance of his song “This Town” on a whim in September 2016. Not only did it become his first solo single, and the first single of any then-1D member — it was the first song Horan ever wrote on his own. “I hadn’t even gotten near finishing an album,” he remembers. “I was like, I really wanna release it. I just tweeted a link to it one night and it became my first single, I guess.” A bit of humility for a song that hit the top 20 in the U.S. and the top ten in the U.K. and Ireland.

Nowadays, though, Horan isn’t one to rush things. He took his time on his third solo album, The Show . After releasing Heartbreak Weather the week COVID-19 became a pandemic, he took a few months “to just go with what everyone else was doing,” like exercising and cooking. He’d had the title of The Show in his head for a while, but didn’t know what to do with it until, one day, the song finally came out of him. The song, reflecting on overcoming struggle, became the guiding light for the project. “I was unsure for a little bit, but then it was like, this is so obvious,” he says.

Horan is releasing The Show at a bit of a full-circle moment — nearly 13 years after forming One Direction on The X-Factor , he’s now a coach on a different singing competition, The Voice , in the U.S. (Being able to relate to his contestants paid off when a singer from Team Niall, Gina Miles, won the season.) Given the occasion, Horan is eager to reflect on his career, even after a full day of press. “You’re making me have a deep dive here,” he says at one point. “This is good thinkin’ time.”

Song you couldn’t have written until now

I think you have to have a deep dive into your head to write a song like “The Show.” I feel like it’s a song that provoked a lot of thought — even the concept of the show itself, like being grateful for what happens in life on a daily basis and realizing that you have to go through some shit to get some of the good stuff in life. I feel like “The Show” was probably that song for me.

I took a bit of time off to just go with what everyone else was doing in the pandemic and work out and cook and all that stuff. Probably August or September of that year, I sat down and wrote what turned out to be “The Show.” I sat down at the piano that night, and it just came out. And I had tested that theory before and nothing was coming, the old writer’s block. But I think once I’d written the chorus of “The Show,” I was like, Oh, might be onto something here.

“You Could Start a Cult” is probably the one that epitomizes a love song. It’s very me. It’s probably the most “me” song I’ve written. It’s provocative. You know, “It gets the people goin’.” I had that title phrase and just wanted to write the complete opposite song of what you think it is. And I hope people look at the track listing and are like, “I wanna hear that.”

“On My Own” is probably the most Irish one I have. There’s fiddle and things like that. There’s a song on the first record called “Fire Away,” and that’s very Irish to me. It’s got all of the Irish elements, a groove called 6/8, which is extremely Celtic and Irish.

The first song I wrote after 1D was “This Town,” which ended up being the first single. I was so lucky in that sense, that I knew who I was, as an artist, and that I didn’t have to overthink about what it was gonna sound like. ’Cause some people will spend years looking for their sound. As an out-the-gate, first thing, to sit down and write “This Town” — it gave me confidence that, Okay, this might be something that people get . Then afterwards with how it was received, it took a lot of weight off the shoulders and made me stand out there and be confident as a performer when I performed it live. It’s a song I still don’t get bored of playing, actually. I thought I would. I thought after seven years now, I’d be sick of it.

Probably “Slow Hands.” It’s in my wheelhouse of stuff I listen to, groove-wise and the guitar, but at that point I was writing a lot of folky stuff. So to go into that kind of ’80s-rock thing on the first record was even a shock to me. I was just playing like, [ sings opening guitar riff ]. We dressed it up to be a little bit poppier later, but it started out as a real rootsy, kind of bluesy jam. I remember writing it and I was like, All right, that’s another song . And then everyone was just like, “Are you crazy? That’s gonna be the one.”

“Stockholm Syndrome” was a great song to perform live. “Through the Dark.” And I wish we’d gotten a chance to perform a song called “Never Enough.” We didn’t tour that. The vibe of it is crazy. I remember being in a hotel in Chicago and the trumpet players coming in to play the riff, [ sings trumpet part ]. It’s such a cool vibe, it was unlike anything that was out there. Obviously it was a deep cut on the album, but it’s probably one of my favorite 1D tunes to this day.

One Direction song you’re surprised resonated

“Night Changes.” I knew it was a great song but I didn’t think that it would connect the way — like, I think it just got to a billion streams recently, which is nuts. When you think about “Story of My Life,” “What Makes You Beautiful,” “Drag Me Down,” that kind of thing, they all felt more hittier, if you like. So to see a nice slow jam at 65 bpm hit like that wasn’t a shock, but I definitely wasn’t expecting it to be as big as it has become.

Weirdest way you’ve been recognized in public

I’ve had people pull their cars over onto the sidewalk to get pictures. Been recognized in the toilet a few times. Pandemic was always interesting, ’cause I felt like with the hat, the sunglasses, and the mask, that I would have a chance, but apparently I was more recognizable. There were so many people that came up to me and were like, “Niall!” I was like, “How did you know it was me? I’m covered all the way up to here.”

Best song to audition for The Voice with

I’d like to hear a different take on “Heaven,” ’cause it’s one of those melodies that can fit into a lot of genres if you wanted to change it up a little bit. I’ve done little acoustic moments with it so far, but I’ve kind of kept it similar tempo. I feel like you could do some cool synth-y stuff around it as well. Let’s see what happens in the next auditions.

Biggest lesson from returning to a singing competition

I’m just glad that I enjoyed The X-Factor , because I see how intense it is now, looking back. I was 17, just going around bouncing off the walls. I’m glad I had so much fun when we were doing it, ’cause I see how intense these young singers are and how nervous they are and how scary of a prospect it is to stand up in front of the nation and give your best version of yourself in three minutes. And this time, I have this empathy now with the artist, because I’ve been there. That’s probably the biggest thing I can help them with, is that navigating a competition is scary.

What I’ve noticed — this is going to sound stupid. Music is so visual these days. Everything comes with a visual, with a video or a piece of content or something like that. It was so nice to go and sit and not have anything but two speakers in my chair and just hear a person sing, and it be about the voice. Why we love music, really, is the songs and the voice, and that’s what I’ve really loved about being on the show. Like, Jesus, I forget how little just music we listen to.

One Direction fans have noticed a tour date blunder in the new Netflix series " Kaleidoscope. "

The series, which can be watched in almost any order, follows a group of criminals as they carry out a heist on an underground safe during a storm.

In the episode "Green," set seven years before the heist takes place, we see one of the criminals Judy (Rosaline Elbay) try and smuggle sim cards to her boyfriend in prison, Stan Loomis (Peter Mark Kendall). When she gets stopped by one of the prison officers, Judy bribes her with tickets to a One Direction concert.

However, one fan of the former band was quick to notice that the date on the ticket — March 6, 2016 — is long after One Direction went on hiatus.

The fan tweeted: "WHY IS NO ONE TALKING ABOUT ONE DIRECTION TOUR TICKETS IN 2016 MENTIONED IN THE NETFLIX SERIES #KALEIDOSCOPE !!!??? THE FACT THAT 1D WENT ON HIATUS IN 2015 AND WEREN'T EVEN TOGETHER IN 2016!!??? ALSO THEY PLAYED MSG ONLY ONCE IN 2012 WTFF. IT HURTS BEING A DIRECTIONER."

As the tweet pointed out, although One Direction officially went on an indefinite hiatus in January 2016, their last concert was in October 2015 when they finished their "On The Road" tour. That means the world tour advertised on the ticket would not be possible unless the band did not go on hiatus in the lore of "Kaleidoscope."

One Direction announced their plan to go on an extended hiatus in August 2015. This was after Zayn Malik, one of the original members of the band, who formed in 2010 on the UK version of "The X Factor," left to pursue a solo career. 

In addition, the ticket says that the concert would be on a Saturday when, in reality, March 5, 2016, was a Sunday.

Insider has reached out to representatives of Netflix for comment.

"Kaleidoscope" is available to watch on Netflix.

Harry Styles is back on tour after a nearly two-month hiatus!

The "As It Was" singer made a triumphant — and stylish — return to the "Love On Tour" stage as the European leg of his world tour kicked off Saturday (May 13) in Horsens, Denmark. Harry was seen wearing satin blue pants and a bedazzled orange jacket with his name on the back. And yes, he's wearing nothing underneath the jacket.

Saturday's show marks his first since closing out the Asian leg of his tour in Tokyo on March 25. The European leg of the show includes concerts in France, England, Germany, Italy and Spain, among others, through July 22.

For the last leg of the tour, Harry unveiled new merchandise designs, featuring apparel covered in animated Harry's House graphics and iconic European landmarks. In addition to these new changes, Harry has switched up the setlist, too. One of those new songs is One Direction's "Stockholm Syndrome"! Here's a look at the setlist from Saturday's show:

Taeyeon adds second Singapore show to 2023 Asia ‘The ODD Of LOVE’ tour

Featuring shows in Singapore, Bangkok, Jakarta and more

Girls’ Generation leader and K-pop singer Taeyeon has announced the full list of dates for her 2023 ‘The ODD Of LOVE’ tour in Asia.

Taeyeon had released a poster for her 2023 ‘The ODD Of LOVE’ tour in Asia, which is currently ongoing. The singer has already completed multiple stops on her eight city tour, which runs from June to August.

The newly released poster features the dates for five previously announced cities, including Taipei (on June 24) , Jakarta (July 22) , Manila (July 30) and Bangkok (August 12 to 13) , among others.

Notably, the poster also featured a brand-new stop for Taeyeon in Singapore on August 20. It has since be announced that concert will take place at the Singapore Indoor Stadium, with an additional show on August 19.

Venues and ticketing details for the majority of the dates have already been released. More details about the new Singapore stop of Taeyeon’s ‘The ODD Of LOVE’ tour in Asia have yet to be revealed. Keep an eye on this page for the latest information.

Meanwhile, Taeyeon is also expected to release a new mini-album later this year. This is according to a earnings report previously released by SM Entertainment, where the K-pop previewed plans for upcoming releases in the third quarter of the year.
