Ole Time, First Timer: Jake Johnson Wins Whelen Mod Tour Granite State Derby At Monadnock

the mod tour

It’s the most iconic and historic car on the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour.

And Saturday it was the long familiar Ole Blue No. 3 back in victory lane, celebrating with a new winner for the series.

Jake Johnson held off the challenges of Ron Silk and Austin Beers over the closing stages to win the 150-lap Granite State Derby Saturday at Monadnock Speedway in Winchester, N.H.

It was the first career Whelen Modified Tour victory for the 21-year Rehoboth, Mass. driver. Johnson drove part-time for the Boehler Racing Enterprises team on the Whelen Modified Tour the last two seasons before  taking over their ride full-time for the 2024 season. Johnson, who ran six series events in 2022 and 13 last season, was making his 23rd career Whelen Modified Tour start Saturday at Monadnock.

“I’ve got to thank a lot of people and, and all the fans for coming out tonight,” Johnson said. “But there’s so many people behind the scenes when it comes to the 3 car that makes this happen week in and week out. It’s just an honor to be here in victory lane for them and get that long awaited win.”

It was the first Whelen Modified Tour victory for the Boehler Racing Enterprises team since Rowan Pennink won in the car at the Icebreaker 150 on April 9, 2017 at Thompson Speedway.

It was the first Whelen Modified Tour event at Monadnock since the repaving of the track in the offseason. The Whelen Modified Tour will make stops again this season at Monadnock on July 20 and Sept. 21.

“The competition was tough today,” Johnson said. “This track is just beautiful. I can’t thank [track owner] Norm Wrenn and [track operator] Josh Vanada have done to class this place up. It’s a beautiful facility and I’m excited for the next two races.”

Austin Beers of Northampton, Pa. started 17th in the 24-car field and finished second.

“We were actually blowing up at the end,” Beers said. “It started clicking with three [laps] to go and I was losing power and was just hoping it was holding off. … It was really fun with this repave. I didn’t really think we were going to have passing, but ti think we proved there can be passing here.”

Patrick Emerling of Orchard Park, N.Y. was third. It marked the second consecutive third place finish for the first-year RGM AZ team.

“It was a solid run for us,” Emerling said. “A pair of thirds the last two races on the Tour here. We’re building something here. I think we might have been the car to beat right at the end. Just right at the beginning we got singled out there and got freight trained a little bit and lost a little track position. I give it up for the whole team here. … We were the fastest car at the end I thought.”

Craig Lutz of Miller Place, N.Y. was fourth and Matt Hirschman of Northampton, Pa. fifth.

Reigning series champion Ron Silk, who ran at or near the front for most of the event, got into the wall on a late restart battling Johnson for the lead and fell back to finish 10th. Silk, the reigning series champion, had won two of the first three events of the season and had a second place finish in his other start.

Silk came into the event holding an eight point lead over second place Justin Bonsignore, who had won the event at Richmond. Johnson came into Monadnock third in the standings, 24 points behind Silk.

Bonsignore had a sixth place finish at Monadnock and cut Silk’s lead in the standings to six points. Johnson remained third in the standings, now 13 points off the lead.

Before the race there was the drama of the return of the qualifying redraw. A spin of the wheel set the top-eight drivers in qualifying to redraw for their starting spots. Pole-winner Hirschman drew the seventh starting spot. Anthony Sesely, who qualified second, redraw the top starting spot.

Sesely held the top spot at the start. Behind him Hirschman had issues early and quickly fell from seventh to 11th.

By lap 20 Silk, who had qualified ninth, was up to fourth. Bonsignore, who started 12th, was up to eighth. Hirschman was at 10th.

The first caution of the event flew on lap 22 for the spinning car of Trevor Catalano.

On the ensuing restart it was Sesely holding the top spot with Johnson moving past Jon McKennedy to take over second and Lutz following him to third.

The second caution was out on lap 33 for the stopped car of Nathan Wenzel. On the lap 40 restart it was Sesely holding the top spot with Lutz moving to second and Silk to third.

Just following the lap 40 restart traffic issues dropped Bonsignore from seventh to 11th. On lap 47 Lutz got by Sesely for the lead with Silk moving to second. On lap 53 it was Silk then moving by Lutz to take over the top spot.

On lap 60, McKennedy, who had run near the front most of the race, went to the pits under green.

Caution flew on lap 86 not long after the car of Kyle Bonsignore showed smoke and went to the pits with a blown motor. The caution flew with Silk leading, Lutz in second and Johnson in third. Hirschman was back up to sixth place. The red flag was displayed on lap 90 for the cleanup of fluid on track.

On the restart it was Silk once again holding the top spot out front. Behind him Johnson overtook Lutz to take over second. On lap 103 it was Johnson getting by Silk to take over the lead.

On lap 110 Silk was able to get under Johnson through turns three and four, but Johnson defended the top spot coming on the frontstretch.

Caution was back out on lap 119 for the spinning car of Kyle Ebersole. The caution flew with Johnson leading Silk and Beers in third.

On the lap 126 restart it was Silk staying to the outside of Johnson for much of the lap before Johnson cleared him for the lead off of turn four. Caution was back out again on lap 127 when Sesely, running fifth, got spun from a chain reaction issue in turn three.

On the lap 134 restart Silk got into the wall on the backstretch, sustaining severe damage. Silk fell back to 11th place with Beers moving to second and Lutz to third behind Johnson.

Awesome. Freakin awesome. Ole blue in victory lane. Been too long.

Well I was wrong. I thought having two tour modified events in new england on the same day was a horrible idea. 20 cars at Waterford (19 actually raced) and 24 at Monadnock. The almighty NASCAR only drew 4 more than the MRS. The MRS that besides seeing at the world series, I barely knew existed anymore. I suppose this is the new normal but I can’t be the only one to think 24 is a dismal showing. But then again is this the new normal or just “normal”?

Jerry Stearns says

I”m not sure but I think Ron Silk had a little help getting into the back stretch wall.

I’m not sure but I think Ron Silk had some help getting into the wall on the backstretch.

Well, well, well … where do I begin.

I’m shocked. The standings are up to date already, the morning after the race. SHOCKING!!!!! And I mean ALL up to date. Usually, the standings page gets updated column by column, over a week or more.

Bravo!!!!! Great job.

Amazing what a repave will do. I did not need Dramamine to watch this race. It used to be wince-inducing to watch the cars launch or hear them lose traction and rev, but not this time. That repave is freaking awesome, and this race was outstanding. It will only get better as Crew Chiefs (Looking at you Phil Moran) dial in. I can’t wait for the next Monadnock race.

Speaking of repaves, Thompson, it’s time. You need to re-establish yourself as the center of Modified racing. A repave is long overdue. Get it done.

Ole Blue, great to see you back in victory lane. ❸ Homemade chassis. Gotta love it.

So Matt H. was running a LFR instead of a Troyer. Hmmm…

The repave effectively created a new track and teams have to start a new notebook. The next couple races will be interesting to see who gets it dial in earliest.

Am I the only one thinking that the 1 car with Emerling is going to take some wins this season? Take Richmond out where he was leading and wrecked after a BS penalty by nascar he would be right in the points battle. Not bad for a first year team. Is this the old 79 team? Car has been fast every race.

OLD BLUE WINS !!!! OLD BLUE WINS!!! Just like many of us saw coming with Jake Johnson at the wheel ….!!! He is very talented and now he has that all important FIRST WIN ..!!! I am sure many of us older fans had a little tear in the corner of our eyes when ” Old Blue homemade & Built Chassis beat all the cookie cutter Big Chassis Cars out there… Chalk one up to the old guys … Lenny must be smiling up there looking down over his operation that’s been around for 5 decades or so…. The BEST NEWS IS – it’s a 5 HORSE RACE NOW WITH THE 3 16 51 1 64 for the 2024 Championship… Should be an exciting year for the Modified Tour !!! ..Congratulations to Andy & Jake Johnson & Family !!!! dreams do come true !!!! WOW what a huge win for everyone involved…!!!

Facts. The crew chiefs on the 3-64-1 car need a tip of the hat. These guys did the best job setting up cars where everyone was on an even base with no notes. The 16 and 51 both tested as well so to beat those teams when they had a huge advantage over all others is big.

{ It will only get better as Crew Chiefs (Looking at you Phil Moran) dial in.}

Phil not dialed is why Ronnie hit the wall by himself? He and JJ were going to be battling for that win in my view. The 51 and 60 need some dialing I think.

And…. [So Matt H. was running a LFR instead of a Troyer. Hmmm…]

Welcome to three years ago ( which is when Matt first drove the Baker 60 {former 12} ). Matt “running” is more like driving for a guy with an LFR chassis. New pavement surprised more than a few people and props to JDV on a great race production. Love the Dog’

I doubt Thompson ownership is going to pay for a repavimg especially when they lease the oval

Another top 20 for Melissa! It looks like it might be a season long battle between her and Tim Connolly for the top 15 in points. I’m hoping to get to Seekonk in a few weeks and catch the ferry to the Vineyard the next morning. Go Girl Go!!!

To say that Melissa was lapped every 3 or 4 laps is just a misguided misogynistic misrepresentation of the truth. If that were true, she would have been 42 laps down (INT(150/3.5)=42). The fact is that she was only 9 laps down. Melissa is a true asset to the tour. She’s hauled a car and competed at nearly every WMT event for over a decade. I suggest you celebrate her 150th career start which just might be at Riverhead next week! Go Girl Go!!!

Perhaps you need to seek some reading lessons defendant. If you watched the race carefully or bothered to read the race report you would have seen that Melissa was only awarded one lap back. This would make your testimony that she was lapped every 3-4 laps a complete fabrication. Thank you for reminding me that Melissa still is the three time defending champion of the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour Most Popular Driver Award. I wouldn’t call it destroying it, I’d call it quite an accomplishment! 💋

Glad to see “ole blue” back in victory lane. What’s with the Melissa bashing again? The woman shows up, and probably has a blast. Allot of people bitch about various drivers, and guaranteed they say they could do a better job. Let me say, it’s not as easy as it looks to drive a race car successfully. Seen it time after time even in the late models at Stafford, where some rich guy goes out buys the best of everything, and wads it up week after week. Modifieds are a handful even when you’ve been racing for years. Granted, there are those who have “natural” talent, but they are few. Leave Melissa alone, she’s out there trying, and apparently is happy, otherwise why would she do it?

NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour

NASCAR officials have announced the 16-race schedule for the 2024 NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour.

For the third consecutive year, the Tour will open at New Smyrna Speedway in Florida during NASCAR’s Speedweeks, racing under the lights on Saturday, February 10. The season will conclude at Martinsville Speedway in Virginia, which will host the Whelen Modified Tour’s season finale on Saturday, October 26.

“We have seen over the past two seasons how exciting it has been for our fans and competitors to open at New Smyrna and finish at Martinsville,” said Jimmy Wilson, Senior Director, NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour. “The mix of tracks on the schedule pays tribute to the Tour’s roots and sets up a competitive season from start to finish, demonstrated by how once again this year our fans are going to see the Whelen Modified Tour title decided at the finale.”

Other tour stops include Richmond Raceway and New Hampshire Motor Speedway, which return to the schedule as companion events alongside the NASCAR national series race weekends. North Wilkesboro Speedway will return in 2024, with a race date on Saturday, October 5. Other popular tour stops include a trio of races at Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park in Connecticut, and a pair of races at Riverhead Raceway in New York.

The BRP Modified Tour Kicks off 25th Anniversary Season this Friday at Lernerville Speedway

the mod tour

SARVER, PA – This Friday, May 20, Lernerville Speedway welcomes the BRP Modified Tour for their 2022 season opener! Joining the BRP Big Blocks are the weekly Fab4 Revved Up with Marburger Farm Dairy divisions of the Peoples Natural Gas Sprints and the Millerstown Pic-A-Part Pro Stocks. The Hovis Auto & Truck Supply RUSH Late Models are also on the card as the Precise Racing Products Late Models are off this week.

The BRP Tour heads into their 25th Anniversary season with Chad Brachman, of Sanborn, NY as their two-time and defending champion. Friday will be the 26th total BRP appearance at ‘The Action Track’ and 8-time Diehl Automotive Big Block Modified Champion and 3-time BRP Champion, Brian Swartzlander leads the way with six BRP wins at Lernerville. Diehl Modified regulars will be aiming to knock off the BRP travelers led by 2021 track champion, Jeremiah Shingledecker and Brad Rapp who are tied atop the 2022 point standings. Other weekly Fab4 regulars including last week’s winner Dave Murdick, Rex King, Jr., Colton Walters, Garrett Krummert, Chas Wolbert and others will be on hand to defend their turf.

The RUSH Late Models are competing for a special incentive, a guaranteed starting spot for the $20,000 to-win ‘Bill Emig Memorial’ to be held during the ‘Big River Steel Firecracker 100’ weekend with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series. The guaranteed spot will go to the highest finishing driver to not qualify for the ‘Bill Emig Memorial’ during the June 23-24-25 ‘Firecracker’ weekend.

A.J. Flick holds a slim 12-point lead in the Peoples Sprint point standings over last week’s winner Sye Lynch heading into this week’s program. Brandon Matus sits third followed by Carl Bowser and Jack Sodeman, Jr., who are all within 20 points of the top spot. Tyler Dietz, who owns two Millerstown Pro Stocks wins on the season is 11 points up on second place Chris Schneider in the chase for the championship. Todd Weldon, Mike Bordt and Brett McDonald round out the top-five in Pro Stock points.

This Friday night is also our Military Appreciation Night presented by Sportsman’s Supply Company of Butler! All active military personnel receive a FREE General Admission ticket with proper military ID cards!

Favorites stage 21 Giro d'Italia 2024 | A tour of (modified) key points in Rome for the final 'pizza points'

I t's done! After three weeks of racing, the riders have reached Rome, the final destination of this Giro d'Italia. The traditional parade around the Italian capital is on the agenda, but there's still a battle for the stage win. IDLProCycling.com tells you all you need to know!

Route of stage 21 Giro d'Italia 2024

This stage is nearly identical to the one Mark Cavendish won last year, with one notable change: the finish is now on the opposite side of the Colosseum, one kilometer earlier. This means the big turnaround near the famous landmark won’t be part of the final lap.

Starting in Rome, the riders head towards the coast of Lido di Castel Fusano. After reaching the turnaround point there, they head back to the Italian capital. The route then includes eight local laps, providing ample time to pass the Colosseum and other iconic sites.

There isn’t much else to say about this stage, but the final kilometers are particularly interesting for the sprinters. Just before the final three-kilometer mark, the route gets technical with a turnaround at one and a half kilometers from the finish. In the last kilometer, there’s a gentle left turn followed by a sharp right turn in the final five hundred meters.

The finish is on the cobblestones of Via di San Gregorio, with a final straight of only 350 meters. Timing will be crucial once again!

Start: 3.35 PM

Finish: Around 6.43 PM

Weather for stage 21 Giro d'Italia 2024

Fortunately, it will be dry in Rome on Sunday. We wouldn't want to think about the cobblestones in the city center being wet, so we're very happy that it will be 27 degrees Celsius and perfect racing weather!

Favorites for stage 21 Giro d'Italia 2024

The dynamics in this Giro d'Italia have become clear by now. This applies to the sprinters' stages as well, which have been dominated by two riders: Jonathan Milan (Lidl-Trek) and Tim Merlier (Soudal Quick-Step). These two have managed to drag themselves over the mountains for three weeks and now have another well-deserved chance in Rome.

Milan has the support of his powerful train at the German-American team, consisting of Daan Hoole, Jasper Stuyven, Edward Theuns, and Simone Consonni. These men have managed to set things up perfectly every time so far, although Milan couldn’t follow the wheel on Thursday. Merlier took full advantage of that, thanks in part to the perfect help from Bert Van Lerberghe.

The outsiders have had to admit defeat so far: Aussies Kaden Groves (Alpecin-Deceuninck) and Caleb Ewan (Jayco AlUla) graciously acknowledged that they fell short against the big two men, which the Colombians Fernando Gaviria (Movistar) and Juan Sebastian Molano (UAE-Team Emirates) would agree with. For the latter, being a teammate of Tadej Pogacar, it remains to be seen if he will participate in the sprints at all.

Alberto Dainese (Tudor) is another dangerous contender in the third week, while the other sprinters will be hoping for a miraculous day: Laurence Pithie (Groupama-FDJ), Stanislaw Aniolkowski (Cofidis), Giovanni Lonardi (Polti-Kometa), Tim van Dijke (Visma | Lease a Bike), Davide Ballerini (Astana Qazaqstan Team), Hugo Hofstetter (Israel-Premier Tech), Madis Mikhels (Intermarché-Wanty), Tobias Lund Andresen (DSM-Firmenich PostNL), and perhaps even Filippo Ganna (INEOS Grenadiers) would be happy with a podium finish.

The latter might even attempt something from an attack, as well as usual suspects Michael Valgren (EF Education-EasyPost), Edoardo Affini (Visma | Lease a Bike), and Simon Clarke (Israel-Premier Tech).

Favorites for stage 21 Giro d'Italia 2024, according to IDLProCycling.com

Top favorite: Jonathan Milan (Lidl-Trek) en Tim Merlier (Soudal Quick-Step)

Outsiders: Kaden Groves (Alpecin-Deceuninck), Juan Sebastian Molano (UAE-Team Emirates), Caleb Ewan (Jayco AlUla) en Fernando Gaviria (Movistar)

Long shots : Alberto Dainese (Tudor), Laurence Pithie (Groupama-FDJ), Stanislaw Aniolkowski (Cofidis), Giovanni Lonardi (Polti-Kometa), Tim van Dijke (Visma | Lease a Bike), Davide Ballerini (Astana Qazaqstan Team), Hugo Hofstetter (Israel-Premier Tech), Madis Mikhels (Intermarché-Wanty), Tobias Lund Andresen (dsm-firmenich PostNL) en Filippo Ganna (INEOS Grenadiers)

Tesla’s latest way to get shareholders to vote: factory tour with Elon and Franz

Avatar for Fred Lambert

Tesla has come up with yet another program to encourage shareholders to vote in the upcoming shareholders meeting with a way to win a factory tour with Elon Musk and Franz von Holzhausen.

Tesla shareholders have been voting on several new proposals put forward by the board over the last few weeks and heading to the annual shareholder meeting on June 13.

The two main proposals that the board is trying to get through are a new vote on Musk’s 2018 CEO compensation package and moving Tesla’s state of incorporation to Texas.

The two are closely related as Tesla’s board and Musk have blamed the fact that they lost a lawsuit invalidating the 2018 compensation package on the fact that the lawsuit happened in Delware, where Tesla is incorporated.

Tesla incorporated in Delaware, like many other American companies, because the states has laws extremely favorable to corporations. However, Musk believes, without any evidence, that the judge’s decision was politically motivated and believes that Tesla would have better luck in Texas.

And Tesla will need better luck because the new shareholder’s vote on the compensation package doesn’t automatically invalidate the judge’s decision to rescind the package and more legal challenges are expected. Tesla’s own lawyers admit it’s basically a poll.

Regardless, Tesla has been pushing hard for shareholders to revote in favor the package and the move to Texas.

As we previously reported,  the company’s board launched a website  and even started  buying ads to push the vote in that direction .

The shareholder battle is starting to heat up. We recently reported on  a major pension fund that has announced that it will vote against it  and encouraged other shareholders to do the same.

Yesterday, we reported Glass Lewis going against the board’s recommendation .

Now, Tesla has come up with another way to encourage shareholders to vote. The company is raffling a Gigafactory Texas tour with CEO Elon Musk and Chief Designer Franz von Holzhausen:

Win a tour of the Tesla Gigafactory with Elon Musk and Franz von Holzhausen in Austin, Texas! Tour the Cybertruck and Model Y manufacturing lines with Elon Musk and other Tesla executives with a private group of stockholders on June 12th, the day before the Annual Stockholders’ Meeting. You will also have a  reserved seat at the Annual Stockholders’ Meeting on June 13th.

However, unlike previous efforts, like the ads that Tesla bought, this time, it’s not to vote any specific way, but shareholders have to prove that they voted their shares:

You should only submit proof that you voted, not how you voted. You do not need to vote for or against any proposals to be eligible for entry. You are eligible to vote and to enter the drawing, only if you were a stockholder of record or a beneficial owner at the close of business on April 15, 2024.

Top comment by Doug T

Vote for Elons package and lower your share value 9%, because the $75 billion (and more coming) he's already made off of Tesla isn't enough.

Pretty good for a part time employee who hadn't made a good decision in 6 years

But it would make for a pretty awkward factory tour if someone who voted against wins.

Electrek’s Take

This is for the Texas vote. Tesla needs a very high turnout to get 50% of all outstanding shares.

If they don’t win that vote, the new compensation package vote will be even more useless. It’s already basically a poll and the inevitable legal challenges will be even tougher if they can’t move to Texas, which itself might be legally challenged.

In short, Tesla’s governance issues have led to a giant legal mess for the company and its shareholders.

Olivia Rodrigo, Janet Jackson, Green Day and more: 23 summer tours visiting Missouri

the mod tour

Summer is time for so many delights, not least of which meeting your favorite musicians as they take to the road for sprawling tours.

In addition to the number of great shows coming to Columbia, household names and cherished indie acts will be packing up and taking their shows to Missouri. Here are just 23 of the tours worth catching in our state through August.

More: From Needtobreathe to The Steel Woods, these acts will play outdoor shows in Columbia

June 4: Noah Kahan at Hollywood Casino Amphitheatre (St. Louis)

It's not "Stick Season" per se, but it is the right time to catch Kahan, one of our moment's most popular singer-songwriters. Ryan Beatty shares the bill. Tickets range from $310-$487.

Need a break? Play the USA TODAY Daily Crossword Puzzle.

June 9-10: Sarah McLachlan at Starlight Theatre (Kansas City), St. Louis Music Park (St. Louis area)

Celebrating 30 years of her luminous record "Fumbling Towards Ecstasy" — which houses signature songs like "Possession," "Hold On," "Good Enough" and "Ice Cream" — McLachlan will visit Missouri back-to-back nights. The wonderful Feist shares the bill. Tickets are $25.50-$105.50 in Kansas City, $36-$110 in St. Louis.

June 12: Jon Batiste at St. Louis Music Park

The Roots N Blues festival veteran, former Stephen Colbert bandleader, and Oscar- and Grammy-winning American treasure tours behind his "World Music Radio" album from last summer. Tickets range from $29-$125.

June 21: Janet Jackson at Hollywood Casino Amphitheatre

A pop and R&B legend with too many hits to name, Jackson's "Together Again" tour is, in a way, her own Eras run. One of St. Louis' favorite musical sons, Nelly, will share the bill. Tickets run from $47 to $212.

June 23: The Flaming Lips at Uptown Theater (Kansas City)

Do you realize ... the Lips never fail to put on a Technicolor, mind-bending rock 'n' roll show? Hear one of the Midwest's great weirdo bands whenever you can. Tickets are $49-$79.

June 26: Kurt Vile at The Pageant (St. Louis)

The great shaggy dog of indie rock, Philly-area native Kurt Vile has crafted some of the best guitar jams of the past 15 years. Emily Robb shares the bill. Tickets range from $32-$35.

June 27, 28: Lyle Lovett and His Large Band at The Factory (Chesterfield), Uptown

You can't ever go wrong with Lovett, whose hall-of-fame caliber catalog stretches from wry and spry country ramblers to some of the best ballads you'll ever hear. Tickets are $69-$149 in Chesterfield, $49-$135 in Kansas City.

July 6: Iron and Wine at The Pageant

"Light Verse," the latest record from Sam Beam's Iron and Wine project is gentle and strange and sublime, a re-articulation of Beam's place among our best living songwriters. The dynamic Amythyst Kiah shares the bill. Tickets are $37.50-$50.

July 10: The Baseball Project at Record Bar (Kansas City)

A midsummer classic? Perhaps so, when this baseball-themed band featuring members of R.E.M. (Peter Buck, Mike Mills), Dream Syndicate (Steve Wynn), The Minus 5 (Scott McCaughey) and Filthy Friends (Linda Pitmon) pays a visit to the home of the Royals. Tickets are $29.

July 23: Alanis Morissette, Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, Morgan Wade at Hollywood Casino Amphitheatre

Dubbed the "Triple Moon" tour, this bill revolves around Morissette, whose work seems as relevant as ever, but packs in a Rock and Roll Hall of Famer in Jett and the serious talent of Wade. Tickets are $37-$299.

More: Have a very '90s (and early aughts) summer with Goo Goo Dolls, The Fray, Blues Traveler

July 26: Olivia Rodrigo at T-Mobile Center (Kansas City)

Rodrigo is set to performe her "Guts" out on the tour named for her 2023 record, which yielded such smashes as "Vampire" and "Get Him Back!" PinkPantheress shares the bill. Ticket prices TBA.

July 27: Santana and Counting Crows at Hollywood Casino Amphitheatre

Good songs seem to be the connective tissue between guitar god Carlos Santana's outfit and the resilient Crows; Adam Duritz and Co. remain tender road warriors after all these years, delivering their work with a painter's touch. Tickets range from $44-$200.

July 30: Red Hot Chili Peppers at Hollywood Casino Amphitheatre

Feel both California's heat and cool washing over you as the legendary funk-rock hitmakers push into their fifth decade of music. Otoboke Beaver shares the bill. Tickets run from $83-$506.

July 30: Future and Metro Boomin at T-Mobile Center

Future and Metro Boomin didn't start the fire exactly, but "Like That," their recent collaboration with Kendrick Lamar, reignited a 21st-century rap beef. The pair's not one, but two collaborative records in 2024 propel them into this tour, which will no doubt feature a dynamic survey of their work together. Tickets are $44-$194.

July 30-31: Phish at Chaifetz Arena (St. Louis)

Fresh off playing Las Vegas' spectacular Sphere, the beloved jam band will venture on into the summer, playing — what will no doubt be — two nights that can never be repeated. Tickets are $78-$269.

Aug. 8: Jason Isbell at The Factory

A frequent visitor to Missouri — and to festivals such as the former Roots N Blues — Isbell remains at the head of the current class of American songwriters. His most recent record, last year's "Weathervanes," contains a generous handful of canonical cuts. Powerhouse singer Shemekia Copeland shares the bill. Tickets range from $59-$99.

Aug. 9-10: Blink-182 at T-Mobile Center, Enterprise Center (St. Louis)

The re-formed punks are older and wiser but, thankfully, no less funny or filthy. Blink excels at anthemic singalongs that bridge the gap between the serious and absurd. Pierce the Veil shares both bills; Hot Milk will also play St. Louis. Tickets range from $44-$250 in Kansas City, $35-$176 in St. Louis.

More: These 13 summer music festivals are within a day's drive of Columbia

Aug. 12: Childish Gambino at T-Mobile Center

Back on the musical tip — but for how long? — Donald Glover has promised new Childish Gambino albums that may just conclude the project. Which, of course, makes it a crucial time to hear the entertainment polymath perform his artful blend of pop, R&B and hip-hop. Pop phenom Willow Smith shares the bill. Tickets range from $99-$343.

Aug. 15: Green Day at Hollywood Casino Amphitheatre

Showing off its staying power, the Bay Area pop-punk legends will play through not one, but two landmark anniversary albums: "Dookie" and "American Idiot." Rancid and The Linda Lindas share a stacked bill. Tickets range from $102-$510.

Aug. 17-18: Ben Folds at Gillioz Theatre (Springfield), The Factory

Gen X's piano man has revived his Paper Airplane Request Tour, in which fans can do just that — send their requests floating through venue space to the remarkable musical craftsman. Tickets are $42.50 to $122.50 in Springfield, $55-$115 in St. Louis.

Aug. 20-21: Zach Bryan at T-Mobile Center

One of the most significant names in country music today, Bryan tours behind, well, his name — the self-titled 2023 album that landed him on numerous year-end lists and earned him a Grammy for his duet with Kacey Musgraves. Levi Turner and Matt Maeson round out the bill. Tickets are $54-$320.

Aug. 23: Dierks Bentley at T-Mobile Center

Now something like an elder statesman of country, Bentley has been one of the genre's most consistent — and stylistically interesting — hitmakers for more than 20 years now. The Arizona native will bring Chase Rice and Tanner Usrey out to Missouri with him. Tickets range from $25.75 to $115.75.

Aug. 23: Waxahatchee at The Pageant

Now calling Kansas City home Waxahatchee leader Katie Crutchfield will play the other side of Interstate 70, touring behind "Tigers Blood," far and away one of the best records of 2024's first half. Terrific songwriter Tre Burt shares the bill. Tickets are $35-$50.
