You might be asking “Why twin beds?” when there are plenty of RVs with queen or king size beds. While queen and king beds are for couples, if you travel as a group of friends, most likely than not everyone would prefer to have their own bed. Or you might be traveling with kids, and they would like their own space.

In these cases, buying or renting travel trailers with twin beds would make the most sense. Twin beds also take up less floor space, thus freeing up living space and offering more wiggle room inside the rig.

You can choose from travel trailers with two twin beds for two campers to the largest ones with up to three twin beds plus typically one sleeper sofa and one convertible dinette for extra sleeping spaces.

True Sleeping Capacity

Realistically, each twin bed can only accommodate one person, especially if you value a good night’s sleep. While a twin mattress can technically squeeze in two people or two kids, this can get a little bit too cozy. Thus be conservative when looking at the sleeping capacity that the manufacturer advertises, which is typically always higher than reality. To make sure you and your companions would have enough sleeping space, it’s better to look closer into the number of twin or double beds included in a specific floor plan, as well as the number of sleeper sofas and/or convertible dinette in the lounge area, to calculate the realistic number of sleeping spaces.

A common feature of travel trailers with twin beds is a bunkhouse, or sometimes a twin bunk over a sofa. When deciding between different models and floor plans, you should consider who you travel with as well as how everyone is going to use or share the space.

If you travel with kids, a bunkhouse would be a fun feature that they would love to call their own private corner. Otherwise, bunk beds are only suitable if there is someone light and agile enough, or willing, to climb up and down there a few times everyday. Another creative use of the bunkhouse is turning the top bunk into extra storage, or keeping the top bunk but converting the lower bunk into a workstation (something you might have seen in modern dorm rooms).

FAQ: Can I Fit Double Sheets On a Twin Bed Mattress?

A common question by fellow campers is whether double sheets can fit on twin mattresses. The answer is yes. There’s a bit of a wiggle room, but a double mattress is not significantly larger than a twin mattress so if you have a fitted sheet for a double mattress, you can confidently use sheet corner clips to snugly fit a double sheet on a twin mattress. You can easily buy sheet corner clips and different designs of clips and suspenders online to better secure bed sheets on a mattress. These will secure the sheet firmly in place and withstand any degree of tumbling.

At 25 feet length, the 2019 Forest River Flagstaff Shamrock 183 is one of the most spacious travel trailers with twin beds that uses pop-outs to maximize sleeping space while still managing to be reasonably lightweight and compact. The six sided aluminum frame construction also ensures lightweightness as well as durability.

The pop-out sections have canvas sides and can be opened manually. They are located on either or both of the front and back as well as on the sides of the rig. This type of hybrid travel trailers therefore offers more sleeping space without requiring a much larger overall length.

The Flagstaff Shamrock 183 includes three twin beds that are housed in the pop-outs and manually slide out. Each comes with storage right at the bedside for personal items. In addition, the dinette table also converts into a double bed. So while the rig is advertised to sleep up to 8 people, four full-size adults or two adults plus three to four children would be more realistic.

This is one of the travel trailers with twin beds that’s equipped for four-season camping, thanks to the 13,500 BTU A/C and powerful 30,000 BTU furnace. In addition, the water holding tanks are of adequate sizes, and the side and roof are solar panels prep, so you can take this rig on off-grid trips.

Thanks to the use of pop-out beds, you get more living space. The kitchen is fully equipped with a dual basin sink, a double door fridge, a microwave, a three burner stove and has a ton of storage space. There’s even a gas grill you can attach outside for cooking outdoors on hot days, so that the 13,500 BTU air conditioner does not have to work extra hard to keep the interior cool. The bathroom is spacious and includes a curved shower stall and a toilet.

You will enjoy the numerous luxury exterior features like the outside hot and cold shower, speakers for taking the party outdoors and outside gas grill. The only downside of this floor plan is the awkward placement of the entertainment center. Sitting in the lounge area, you won’t have as good a view of the TV screen as standing in front of the kitchen sink.

It’s suitable for off-grid stays, with large water tanks and solar prep. It’s also made for camping year round, with a reasonable A/C and a powerful furnace.

The kitchen is fully equipped, and notable features are the stylish glass top three burner range and a large single basin sink (this is extra important for many home cooks). The rear bathroom has a shower and bathtub combo, which is convenient for bathing small kids. The only complaint with this trailer is that the bathroom sink is outside of the bathroom, which can be an inconvenience when you want to wash your hands after finishing your business.

If you are a fan of the iconic Airstream trailers, the great news is the Airstream Globetrotter 25FB Travel Trailer is a model that offers twin bed sleeping. True to the Airstream name, this model is also a modern trailer with European minimalist aesthetics and thoughtful, uncompromising detail. With its neutral color scheme, minimal, clean lines, soft curves, panoramic windows and backlighting throughout, it is like a well done tiny apartment on wheels.

At 25 feet long, the Globetrotter 25FB can sleep 4 adults, realistically speaking, or 4 adults plus two children (although on paper it can sleep up to 6 people, which, well, depends on the size of the occupants). Sleeping space includes a walk-around queen bed at the front, two side by side twin beds that can also be converted into a king size, and a spacious convertible U-shaped dinette in the rear that also converts into a twin bed. The beds feature a memory foam mattress for utmost nighttime comfort.

In addition, attention to details and quality standards are evident in thoughtful and well-appointed features throughout, including the use of the award-winning durable and stain-resistant HITCH fabric for seating upholstery in the lounge space, or the compact toilet with a small sink that sits opposite from the separate shower, which allows one person to use the lavatory while another is showering. Other smart and convenient features in the kitchen include a microwave that cleverly slides out from the cabinetry, a Baraldi vent for getting rid of odours and a three-burner stove with glass cover for maximizing countertop space.

The water tanks are not exactly large, but adequate for a group of four campers. Plus, the rig is solar prep, so should you choose to upgrade to have solar panels installed, you can stay off-grid for a few days.

At only 20 feet long, the 2019 Coachmen Catalina Summit 172BHS is among the most compact, lightweight and easy to maneuver travel trailers with twin beds in this list. This will open up travel possibilities to smaller campsites off the beaten path that are harder to reach with a larger trailer.

Despite that, the large slide-out section allows you to expand the interior living space. This gives you room in the kitchen for a single basin sink, two-burner stove, and a  refrigerator. The rear bathroom ifeatures a 36-inch tub/shower combo and a toilet. There’s even a shower skylight to let as much as natural light in.

The exterior comes with luxury convenient feature that will perfect your camping experience: an EZ exterior storage to access larger items or gears as well as frequently used tools and camping equipment, a hot/cold utility shower to have a quick rinse from your muddy excursions as well as a power awning and marine-grade speakers for taking the party outside.

At only 21 feet long and 2,694 lbs of unloaded weight, the 2019 Coachmen Viking Ultra-Lite 17SBH is one of the travel trailers with twin beds that has a small footprint and leans on the minimalist. Sleeping spaces include a double bed in the front nose section, a pair of bunk beds in the rear and a convertible dinette/bed to sleep up to 6 people on paper, although four at most would be more realistic without having people doubling up.

The bathroom includes a shower skylight and vent to keep away moisture but let plenty of natural light in. The kitchen features a 2-burner propane range, an undermount sink and 2 cu ft fridge, plus tons of overhead storage. There’s also a fair amount of exterior pass-through storage. It’s solar prep and comes with moderate size water tanks, so you can go on short off-grid stays.

The 2020 Jayco Jay Flight SLX 154BH is one of the best and most lightweight travel trailers with twin beds that can be towed behind a mid-size SUV, at only 18 feet long and having a dry weight of only 2,645 lbs. While the trailer is smaller and on the minimalist side, it would be adequate for short trips if you’re a single parent with two children or a couple with one or two kids, plus its moderate footprint means more camping possibilities too.

This trailer can accommodate up to four people (most realistically 2 adults and 2 children), with a comfortable twin bed in the front and bunk beds in the rear for the kids. Speaking to the family-friendliness, the bathroom features a shower and tub combo that’s convenient for bathing a small child.

As noted, the 2022 Jayco Jay Flight SLX 154BH is not the best option if you like to boondock for days at a time, due to the small water holding tanks as well as the overall lack of luxury features and amenities that would allow you to go on extended trips. That said, this wouldn’t be a source of concern if you are going to be staying at RV parks and campgrounds, which have dump stations and water hookups.

The 2019 Winnebago Micro Minnie 2108TB is one of the travel trailers with twin beds that can be upgraded to a king size bed and located in the front, with a curtain divider for privacy. Extra sleeping space comes from the midship dinette built into a power-retractable slide out that can be converted into a double bed, which makes sleeping space for four people in total.

Although this trailer is on the small side, the slide-out that houses the dinette gives you more interior floor space when you set camp up. One thing to note though is that if you want to watch TV together with your companions, it’s best to slide in this section to give everyone a clear view of the TV.

For a 20-foot travel trailer, this model offers quite a spacious bathroom and ample galley space. The bathroom features a large shower stall, skylight, vent and a toilet. You can conveniently whip up fresh meals daily with the kitchen, which comes with a three burner range, a dual basin sink, a microwave and a double door refrigerator.

If you want to travel light with one to two other friends or are a single parent with one or two kids, this minimal, compact and lightweight trailer would be a good option. At around 2,500 lbs of dry weight and only 17 feet in length, you might not need to upgrade your towing vehicle, since it can be towed behind a mid-size SUV. The single axel and size allows for maneuverability and easy parking at smaller campsites.

With two twin beds and a pair of bunk beds, this trailer can sleep up to four people. That’s the Standard model, while the Deluxe model only comes with two twin beds to make room for a toilet, shower and wardrobe closet. That means if a bathroom and toilet is an absolute must, you should get the Deluxe, but if you need sleeping space for more than 2 people and will be staying at RV campgrounds where public toilet and bathroom are available, stick to the standard model.

Both the Deluxe and the Standard model offer plenty of storage space including large under the bed compartments and wrap around overhead storage. There’s another exterior storage compartment for toys and tools that you would frequently reach for. Another feature that you would appreciate is the three large picture windows that open up the interior space and offer cross ventilation for an airy living space.

Another one of the Airstream travel trailers with twin beds that boasts aesthetics and functionality. As with every Airstream travel trailer, the 27 foot International is built with the same level of quality and incomparable durability which will last for generations to come. The Airstream International is set up with an optional rear hatch or a pair of bunk twin beds in the rear. If you opt for the front bunk, keep in mind that you will lose overhead storage in the bedroom.

One thing to keep in mind though, that at 28 feet long and a dry weight of 6,000 lbs, this Airstream is one of the largest travel trailers with twin beds in this list, which means you will need a powerful enough tow vehicle, and maneuvering off the beaten path on rough terrain might be a bit challenging.

What you lose in agility you gain in luxury. The Airstream International features a full kitchen with a sink, a three-burner cooktop, a two-way refrigerator, an oven and a microwave (or a convection microwave oven on option), and tons of storage are found throughout the galley. The feature you might not find satisfactory though, is that the shower and lavatory are separate and sit opposite each other, each divided by a curtain for privacy.

Luxury features include the enclosed insulated ducted climate control perfect for all weather camping, and an exterior hot and cold shower. There’s also a Solar Package for camping off-grid with either an optional 90W or 180W solar panel.

  • Sleeping space: 2 twin beds, 1 sofa, 1 convertible dinette, optional front bunk
  • Interior: Ultraleather seating, Furrion three-burner gas range, Baraldi cooking vent, microwave, fridge, stovetop and sink covers

The Flying Cloud is set up similarly to the Airstream International, but with two twin beds at the front, a sleeper sofa and a convertible dinette that make up sleeping space for four people. You can choose the optional front bunk to get extra sleeping space.

It also comes with a split bathroom with separate shower and toilet that sit across the hall from each other. Again, the Flying Cloud lives up to the Airstream name, and is synonymous with quality construction, high-class finishes and aesthetically pleasing designs both inside and out.

The front bedroom area boasts a closet for your clothes and shoes. The full kitchen offers high quality features, including a Furrion three-burner gas range, Baraldi cooking vent, an oven, a fridge, a microwave, sink, plus stovetop and sink covers so you have more space to work your magic around the galley. Wraparound windows in the lounge area and the dinette offer plenty of light and ventilation. The Ultraleather seating in the lounge is a notable feature that showcases the high quality standard of the Airstream trailers.

It can be towed by most SUVs and vans, is maneuverable but offers everything you’d need to live comfortably on the open road. This unit is solar prep, and also boasts water tanks larger than you’d imagine for its size, thus is adequate for reasonably long boondocking trips. It’s also made for year- round camping, thanks to the heated enclosed underbelly and a powerful furnace.

At only 15 feet long and often called the Swiss Army Knife of RVs, the 2020 Forest River Flagstaff E-Pro E15TB only sleeps two with two twin beds in the rear master bedroom, which can be converted into a king size master bed.

It may be small, but it has all the basic amenities you’d ever ask for, everything is just mini size. In the front is a complete kitchen and a bathroom with a toilet and a small shower stall. There’s also a small entertainment center and a fair amount of storage, as well as a lot more external storage for camping gear, tools and equipment.

Unexpected and quite luxurious for its nimble size, this unit also features an outside shower and comes standard with a 190 Watt roof mount solar panel with a 1,000 Watt inverter.

There’s even a large awning that covers the outdoor gas grill that is included in most dealership’s standard package, so you also have the option of cooking outside to free up interior living space. For its size, this travel trailer has a large 37-gallon fresh water tank.

The Jayco Jay Flight is one of the smallest and easiest to maneuver travel trailers with twin beds. It features twin bunk beds with under bed storage and a curtain to create a private nook. Each bunk has a window for a good view of the scenery and ample natural light. The dinette folds down to become an extra bed to sleep another camper, most realistically a small child.

The rear bathroom has a shower/tub combination, while the kitchen is fully equipped, and the real hardwood cabinet doors add a touch of elegance. The downside though is its small water tanks, and it’s not solar prep, so this unit is not ideal for off-grid stays.

The Best Travel Trailers With Twin Beds

8 Perfect Travel Trailer Floor Plans With Twin Beds

Aaron Richardson

  • Last Updated: March 4, 2024
  • 16 minutes read

Travel trailers are very popular with families and RV adventurers who want to have room to spread out, yet sleep everyone comfortably.

Of course, this also means that a lot of RV manufacturers are all too happy to produce them in a wide range of styles, sizes, layouts, and sleeping arrangements.

If you are in the market for a travel trailer and you need to sleep a fair number of people each night, you might be wondering what are some of the best travel trailers with twin beds?

Right off the bat the Forest River – Flagstaff E-Pro E15TB and the Winnebago – Micro Minnie 2108TB are two of the top travel trailers with twin beds in this arguably crowded field. Though they aren’t the only options worthy of your time and hard-earned money. The Keystone Springdale 189FLWE is also a great option and has the amenities to support a family for several days of boondocking off the grid.

To better help you find the best travel trailer floor plans with twin beds to meet your needs, we decided to dive headlong into this crowded niche.

Along the way, we looked at how the specifications of each could be used to fit specific interests, as well as how the material build quality could impact the long-term cost of ownership.

This is especially important when it comes to resale value, as a lot of families tend to downsize their RV needs once the children have grown and moved on.

8 Best Travel Trailer Floor Plans With Twin Beds In 2023

The travel trailer niche is relatively crowded, and rightly so. These RV’s tend to be a blank canvas that invites multiple floor plans.

Though not all of these variations work well with the needs of families who need to sleep multiple people in twin beds every night.

So, we took a close look at this niche to find some of the best twin bed travel trailers, before reviewing them closely.

So without further adieu, here are our favorite travel trailer floor plans with twin beds you may want to consider.

There’s also a fair amount of interior storage, which works conveniently around a small entertainment center.

The exterior of the Forest River – Flagstaff E-Pro E15TB is also nicely appointed. Here again, you will find a great deal of external storage for tools and camping gear.

This means that the Coachmen – Catalina Summit 172BHS can sleep four to five people comfortably, and even 6 in a pinch.

With all this sleeping space you might be worried that there isn’t a lot of living space.

Fortunately, Coachmen built the dinette area into a large slide-out section to maximize the floor space.

Here again, we have a travel trailer with twin beds that can also be converted into a king size master bed.

Though this bedroom is located in the front of the travel trailer. There’s even a curtain divider for privacy.

At midship, you will find a dinette build into a power-retractable slide out. This gives you more interior floor space when you set camp up.

Airstream is another one of the giant names in the travel trailer niche of the RV industry.

The Airstream – Globetrotter 25FB represents one of their sleekest models with twin beds.

Playing on a common theme the front of the Globetrotter has a pair of side by side twin beds that can also be converted into a king size master suite.

In the rear, there is a bench seat that also converts into a twin bed. Hen you also factor in the bench dinette, it means you can sleep up to 6 people at a time in the Airstream – Globetrotter 25FB. Though four is more realistic in the real world.

The kitchen, bathroom, and wardrobe storage area all sit at midship in the Airstream – Globetrotter 25FB.

This means that one person can be using the lavatory, while another is showering.

5. Coachmen Viking Ultra-Lite 17SBH

Coachmen Viking Ultra-Lite

  • Dry Weight of 2,694 lbs.
  • Payload Capacity of 1,022 lbs.
  • Hitch Weight of 401 lbs.
  • GVWR of 3,716
  • Length 21-Feet
  • Air Conditioning 5,000 BTUs

The Coachmen Viking Ultra-Lite 17SBH is a relatively lean and lightweight travel trail with a double bed in the front nose section and a pair of bunk beds in the rear.

The side dinette also converts into a bed that will work with most double bed sheets.

This means that on paper the Coachmen Viking Ultra-Lite 17SBH will sleep up to 6 people, though four is more realistic without having people doubling up.

The kitchen and bathroom in the 2019 Coachmen Viking Ultra-Lite 17SBH are tidy and share the same central hallway.

There’s a dual burner propane stovetop and a single basin sink in the kitchen along with tons of overhead storage. There’s also a fair amount of exterior pass-through storage.

If there’s a complaint to be made with the Coachmen Viking Ultra-Lite 17SBH it’s the slightly underpowered 5,000 BTU air conditioning system.

If you do want to camp in overly hot and humid conditions, it’s best to pack along a box fan or two to keep the air properly circulating through the camper’s interior.

6. Jayco Jay Flight SLX 154BH

Jayco - Jay Flight SLX

  • Dry Weight of 2,645 lbs.
  • Payload Capacity of 805 lbs.
  • Hitch Weight of 335 lbs.
  • GVWR of 3,450
  • Length 18-Feet
  • Fresh Water Tank Capacity of 10.0 gallons
  • Total Gray Water Tank Capacity of 19.0 gallons
  • Black Water Tank Capacity of 19.0 gallons
  • Air Conditioning 8,000 BTUs

Jayco has its fingerprints all over the travel trailer niche of the RV industry.

So, it comes as little surprise that they would offer their popular Jay Flight travel trailer in a bunk & twin bed configuration like you see with the SLX 154BH floorplan.

With bunk beds in the back and a comfortable twin bed in the front, this is a great camper for a single parent who wants to take their children on RV adventures.

Speaking to the family-friendliness of the Jayco – Jay Flight SLX 154BH there is a comfortable tub and shower combo in the rear bathroom.

It’s deep enough to properly bathe a small child. There’s also a flushing toilet that is somewhat low to the floor.

Though it’s also worth noting that the fresh, gray, and black water storage tanks on the Jayco – Jay Flight SLX 154BH are a little on the small side compared to many competitor travel trailers with twin beds.

This isn’t a factor if you are going to be staying at campgrounds and RV parks that offer resources and have an RV dump station.

Though the 2021 Jayco – Jay Flight SLX 154BH probably isn’t the best choice for a boondocking family who wants to camp off the grid for days at a time.

7. Keystone Springdale 189FLWE

Keystone Springdale 189FLWE

  • Dry Weight of 4,228 lbs.
  • Payload Capacity of 1,727 lbs.

  • Fresh Water Tank Capacity of 60.0 gallons

At 28-feet long and tipping the scales with a dry weight of 4,228-pounds the Keystone Springdale 189FLWE is one of the largest travel trailers with a twin bed that we reviewed.

With a convertible sofa bed in the front, a bunk over a twin bed in the back, and a convertible double bed dinette at mid-ship, you can sleep up to 7 people in this surprisingly spacious travel trailer.

The midship kitchen has a stylish glass top three burner range and a large single basin sink that lets you comfortable handwash dishes.

While that might not sound all that impressive on paper, it’s actually far less awkward than a lot of the competitor’s kitchen sinks.

Something else you might like about the 2021 Keystone Springdale 189FLWE is the large fresh, gray, and black water storage tanks.

They are large enough to support a family of four or five for several days of boondocking off the grid, before having to resupply or travel to an RV dump station.

The bathroom in the rear has a toilet and a shower, bathtub combo that is deep enough to bathe a small child.

Though the bathroom sink is oddly positioned outside of the bathroom door, which can be a little bit of an issue when you want to wash your hands after using the lavatory.

8. Forest River Flagstaff Shamrock 183

Forest River - Flagstaff Shamrock

  • Dry Weight of 4,179 lbs.
  • Payload Capacity of 1,581 lbs.
  • Hitch Weight of 480 lbs.
  • Fresh Water Tank Capacity of 58.0 gallons
  • Total Gray Water Tank Capacity of 30.0 gallons
  • Black Water Tank Capacity of 30.0 gallons
  • Sleeps up to 8 people

The Forest River – Flagstaff Shamrock 183 uses a popup camper bed concept to maximize the interior living space.

Each of the three twin beds manually slides out of the frame in a heavy-duty canvas enclosure.

Each has a fair amount of storage right at the bedside for people to store their personal items.

The dinette table also converts into a double bed. This means that the 2019 Forest River – Flagstaff Shamrock 183 can technically sleep up to 8 people “On Paper.” Though in the real world 4 adults or two adults and three children are more feasible.

Of course, putting the sleeping areas outside of the main travel trailer frame also means that you have a lot more interior space inside the camper for daily living.

This is definitely something you will appreciate on rainy days or nights when the bugs outdoors drive you into the camper.

The rear bathroom is spacious and includes a toile with a curved shower stall. The kitchen has a ton of storage space and even pairs a dual basin sink with a three burner stove.

There’s even a gas grill you can attach outside for times when you want to cook a meal without competing with the powerful 13,500 BTU air conditioner.

Though if there is a complaint with the layout of the 2019 Forest River – Flagstaff Shamrock 183 it’s the placement of the entertainment center.

The only place with a truly clear and comfortable view of the TV screen is to stand in front of the kitchen sink and RV refrigerator.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will double sheets fit on an rv twin bed mattress.

Fitted sheets and RV mattresses have long failed to see eye to eye, and this rings true with a lot of the twin mattresses we reviewed.

The best way to keep a double fitted sheet confidently attached on a non-standard mattress is to use sheet corner clips.

Can A Small Travel Trailer Be Towed By An SUV?

Some of the lighter travel trailers with twin beds that we reviewed were light enough to be towed by a robust mid-size SUV with a tow package.

For example, the highest trim level of the popular Ford Explorer, with a tow package option installed can tow up to 4,500-pounds.

Though you will want to double-check the weight specifications of your trailer and compare them to the specs of any intended tow vehicle, before you sign on the dotted line.

There are certainly a lot of great travel trailers with twin beds on the market today. Finding the one that is right for you, starts with identifying how many people you need to sleep with.

Most people will only sleep one person to a twin mattress. This can be a little bit troublesome when you see the manufacturer talking about the “Sleeps” number, which is typically always higher than what you will actually be sleeping in the real world.

Once you have your sleep numbers dialed in, you can start thinking about other priorities.

This includes things like the size of the storage tanks for boondocking families, or the depth of the bathtub, for a family who needs to bathe small children.

If you like to camp off the grid for several days at a time, the best travel trailer with twin beds for you might be the 2021 Keystone Springdale 189FLWE.

It certainly has the large water storage tanks to support you for days at a time, and the sleeping space to accommodate most modern-day families.

If you are looking for a lightweight travel trailer and can be towed behind a mid-size SUV , then the Jayco – Jay Flight SLX 154BH might be the best travel trailer with twin beds for the money.

It’s a great setup for a single parent who wants to travel and camp with two children.

Whatever your particular needs and interests, chances are good that the best travel trailer with twin beds for you, can be found somewhere on this list.

20 Small Travel Trailers with Twin Beds (Maximum Benefits In A Small Space)

  • X (Twitter)
  • Pinterest 208

Get Twin Beds In Your Travel Trailer

Todays modern RV builders tend to lean towards luxury buyers who want bigger beds. However not all buyers want a large, space hogging sleeping space. Luckily, there are still a good few small travel trailers with twin beds that give the RV enthusiast a lightweight easy to tow option with plenty of living room and sleeping space.

Two Twin Beds For More Floorspace

There are many reasons to consider going with twin beds in your travel trailer. They are great for kids, singles, or just so you don’t wake your significant other when you get up in the middle of the night. They make great hunting campers as well. Twin beds also take up less floor space affording you more wiggle room. Most small travel trailers with twin beds offer lightweight, maneuverable options that won’t blow your budget.

Because they offer more light weight options you can enjoy twin bed travel trailers without having to invest in a large tow vehicle. This can also save you down the road in fuel costs. More importantly, for some of us at least, it also means less of a carbon footprint. Helping to take care of the environment while enjoying nature.

There is a lot of hype these days about full sized travel trailer floor plans that offer all of the amenities of home including full to king size beds. This is great for some but what about those of us who don’t want that.

It seems to be harder and harder to find an RV that features twin beds in lightweight easy to tow designs. So, we’ve found a few that might be just what you are looking for. Many even have the option to convert into a queen size bed for maximum versatility.

Bigfoot Travel Trailer B25RQ

bigfoot b25rq

Just because it’s small doesn’t mean it is lacking in features. This model comes with two rear twin beds in a separate sleeping space in the rear. The interior living space is quite roomy. The dinette table also folds down for added sleeping arrangements.

The kitchen comes complete with stovetop, oven, microwave and fridge. LED lighting throughout, living area skylight, and plenty of windows make it bright and cheery. There is plenty of storage with overhead cabinets, under bed compartments, and under seat storage in the dinette .

bigfoot b25rq floorplan

This unit also comes pre-wired for solar panels in case you want to take your trailer to the next level. Solar panels also come in handy when you are boondocking or just trying to get off the grid. An electric awning and outside LED lighting invites you to sit out next to the campfire.

Bigfoot travel trailers offer the best in all season camping due to their high-density insulation and thermal pane windows. Heated and enclosed water tanks are perfect for winter camping.

Dual propane tanks with auto change over keeps the heat going worry free. At a little over 25’ in length, this is one of the longer trailers of its class. Giving you more floorspace while keeping towability.

CASITA Independence 17

casita independence 17

This lightweight trailer comes with plenty of storage space including large compartments under the beds. The deluxe model comes with a toilet, shower and wardrobe closet .

However, if extra sleeping space is your goal, stick to the standard model that sleeps 4 with two twin beds and a double bunk with extra space underneath. There is still room for a kitchenette complete with sink, refrigerator, and three burner stove. Three large picture windows make the space feel more open and offer cross ventilation no matter which model you go with.

At around 2,500 lbs of dry weight, this compact trailer is ideal for people with smaller tow vehicles. The single axel and size make it perfect for maneuverability. Because it is short you can also camp at some national parks that have size limitations.

Winnebago Micro Minnie 2108TB

Travel trailer sitting on grass

Don’t let the name fool you. The Winnebago Micro Minnie comes with big features. Let’s start in the front bedroom where the two twin beds can be converted into a king size bed with ease . Or use the divider curtain to create two sleeping areas. Standard equipment includes solar panels, fresh water reclamation, high efficiency heat, A/C and hot water, and extensive insulation. A must if you have kids.

Travel trailer small floorplan

The slide out dinette converts into additional sleeping space. With the slide out increasing the interior floor space, there is plenty of room to walk around the kitchen that includes a pantry and double door fridge . The full-size rear bathroom makes this Minnie seem massive, including a large shower stall.  The exterior has extra storage, a power awning with LED lighting, and patio speakers.

At about 7’ wide, this Micro Minnie is easy to tow. It’s perfect for the newbie to travel trailer life as it is easy to see around and takes corners with ease.  However, with just over 4,000 lbs dry weight you will need a heftier tow vehicle once you add all your camping gear.

Jayco Jay Flight SLX7 154BH

Brown colored travel trailer with 2 beds

At 7’ wide, 18’ long and under 3,000 lbs dry weight, the Jayco Jay Flight is easy to handle even for the novice. It features twin bunk beds with under bed storage and a privacy curtain. Both bunks have their own window for extra light during the day.

twin bed trailer floorplan

The rear bathroom has a shower/tub combination. The real hardwood cabinet doors add a touch of class to the kitchen with it’s large pantry. The dinette folds down to become an extra bed to accommodate up to 4 people.

The interior ceiling height is 6’ 6” which is about average for travel trailers. This is great for most people. However, since the main RV bedroom is a bunkhouse, this might prove problematic for taller campers.

Forest River Flagstaff E-Pro E15TB

trailer with awning out and jacks down

If you are looking for small and light weight, then this E-Pro could be a perfect fit. It weighs in at just under 2500 lbs and is only 7’ 6” wide making it easy for most tow vehicles. The dinning area converts into two twin beds or one king bed.

Single bed travel trailer

There are plenty of cabinets and under bed storage. Two outside panels offer additional storage. Even with its compact 15’ of space, there is room for a bathroom with shower and efficiency kitchen. This small travel trailer is ideal for 1-2 people who are looking for agility without compromising on headroom.

Forest River Rockwood GeoPro G15TB

fr geopro tb

This unit is super small- only 16′ 4″ but it packs a lot into that space. The twin beds can convert into a king size if necessary, and there is a toilet/shower combo unit and a kitchenette with a 3 burner stove, microwave, sink and refrigerator.  All of this in just over 2600 lbs.

forest river rockwood geopro floorplan

Outside there is a 10′ awning and loads of storage space under the beds.  Hitch weight is only 367 lbs, so it can be towed with practically anything.

2022 Airstre

2024 Airstream RV International Serenity TWIN’s

2022-Airstream-International-Travel-Trailer

The International is set up very similarly to the Flying Cloud. The main difference is the Serenity comes with an optional rear hatch and front bunk on some models. It is a really nice option as the hatch opens right next to the dinette for breezy eating. There are several models and interior decor options to choose from.

2022-Airstream-International-25FB-twin-floor-plan

Keep in mind folks, Airstreams are HEAVY. Make sure to study the weights on your chosen model to ensure that you have an appropriate tow vehicle.

What you lose in agility you gain in luxury. They sport the classic Airstream rounded aluminum body design that creates a full 6’ 7.5” of headroom in the center. All have an exterior shower and the enclosed insulated ducted climate control perfect for all weather camping. New interiors include modern “liquid glass” overhead storage with interior LED lighting.

2023 KZ Escape E20 Hatch

small travel trailer

This was a really nice configuration from KZ that unfortunately was not continues into 2024. You may still fond on out on the market if you look.

The KZ E20 Escape is another example of a twin/ king convertible bedroom, and is really impressive with it’s  innovative use of space. This is a true light weight trailer at 3500 lbs dry.

The bed(s) are in the front of the trailer and are raised, creating exterior pass through storage. The interior features a full kitchen with refrigerator, sink, and two burner stove, as well as a toilet and shower in the bathroom, and a convertible dinette

It has the ultimate off road features including heavy duty off road tires with more clearance than your standard RV and back up camera so you can get into those tough spots with ease.

Floorplan for travel trailer

The back hatch flips up for easy loading of your coolers, fishing poles and kayak . Don’t worry about those bikes as this model comes with a bike rack on the front.

The hatch also doubles as a second awning for sitting out and enjoying nature. The mosquito net lets you keep the hatch open even at night for added fresh air. Exterior/interior speakers allow you to enjoy your music no matter where you sit.

This unit has a quick connect propane outlet for your outdoor gas grill. A gas griddle and mount come with the RV.

The park stairs fold down and lock into place for more stability and are easier to climb than normal RV steps. Which is great if you have bad knees. Tons of windows for natural light and additional sleeping space with the table conversion make this the perfect off grid travel trailer for the whole family .

A Few Final Thoughts

When deciding what model to go with, keep in mind how you are going to use the space. Bunkhouses are great as long as you have someone light enough who is willing to climb up there. Of course, I have also seen where a person turned their top bunk into storage for their photography equipment business.

If you spend most of your time outdoors and don’t mind being a little close in the evening when getting ready for bed, then going for a model with less floorspace might be right for you. Especially if you are having to watch your dry weight or want to reduce your gas usage.

Where you are going to use it is also important. Most of these models are small enough to get into most campgrounds.

However, some are better than others at getting off the beaten path or off grid. Keep in mind the weather where you are going too. Insulated holding tanks are almost a must if you are going to be doing any cold weather camping. Air conditioning and good airflow are a must if you plan to chase the sun.

Once you are all packed but before you hit the road, take the time to run by your local scales. You can find them with a simple map search usually.

This way you can make sure you are not exceeding your gross weight which can be easy to do with the amount of storage these small trailers offer. They can also check to make sure your weight is distributed evenly which will help with sway and tongue weight.

3 thoughts on “20 Small Travel Trailers with Twin Beds (Maximum Benefits In A Small Space)”

I only have one issue with the review is that you used trailers that had bunk beds to qualify as a trailer having twin beds. I think that bunkhouse trailers would be considered a different category than twin bed trailers.

Fair enough- we looked at it more from the standpoint of “separate” beds. Thanks for the comment.

  • Discontinued Models: Some RV models like Dynamax Rev, Winnebago Trend, Coachmen Orion, and Winnebago Via are no longer in production but can still be found in the used market with twin bed layouts.
  • New 2024 Models: Newer models like Winnebago Travato, Era, Boldt, Coachmen Nova, Thor Sequence, and Dellano also offer twin bed layouts, providing updated options for RV buyers.
  • Considerations: When choosing an RV with a twin bed layout, factors like budget, driving comfort, storage space, amenities, and overall layout should be carefully considered to find the best fit for full-time living.

When I was looking for the perfect RV with a twin layout, good storage, and not too expensive, I found some pretty decent ones.  There are many class B RVs with the twin layout but I didn’t want to focus on those. In this article, I will focus on slightly larger B+ or C RVs but I’ll mention the Axis and the Vegas which is an RUV from Thor to consider. Here are the ones I will talk about in this blog post: Leisure Travel Unity and Wonder,  Winnebago EKKO, Winnebago View and Navion, Thor Axis and Vegas, Entegra Ethos, Entegra QWEST, Tiffin Wayfarer, Jayco Melbourne, Thor Chateau. Many come with the Mercedes chassis which is way more expensive than similar RVs with the Ford or the Ram. I personally would not want to buy a Mercedes it’s too fancy and pricey for me but many like it so I include some of them here.

Please note that availability and specifications may vary by location and model year. It’s always best to check with the manufacturer or a reputable dealer for the most up-to-date information.

Entegra Ethos 20T

Entegra Ethos

The Ethos is a luxurious class B RV on the RAM® ProMaster 3500. It is full of all kinds of helpful technology, and the exclusive E-Z Drive™ system.  Entegra RVs are famous for their excellence and superior craftsmanship. The Ethos was made for a comfortable home base, whether you are on the move or you plan to stay in a beautiful spot for a few days. Because of its small size, it is easy to drive it around and park it. I personally tried full-timing in a van-sized RV at first but I got tired of the lack of space. I do have many friends however who live in them full-time and they love it.

The Ethos runs around $175,000 brand new.

Winnebago View 24V and Navion 24V

Winnebago View

This RV is priced at $217,555 which makes it an expensive choice.

Other Models with the Mercedes Chassis To Consider:

No products found.

No Longer Manufactured Models:

Dynamax rev 24tb.

dynamax-rev-24tb

The price of a used model can be as low as $55,000

Winnebago Trend 23D

best travel trailer with twin beds

A used Trend will be around $75,000 or less.

Coachmen Orion T24TB

best travel trailer with twin beds

This RV is not made anymore. When it was new it was priced at $75,000.

Winnebago Via 25T

best travel trailer with twin beds

Winnebago stopped manufacturing the Via. You can still find used models with the twin bed layout. This RV is a small Class A diesel RV, but since it runs on a Mercedes Sprinter, its price is well on the higher side. The most eye-catching feature is perhaps the waterfall-style countertop which is designed along with an equally redesigned galley. I love the size of the kitchen counter. It has been described as a boldly designed RV that is as swanky in its interior as it is on its exterior. Despite this load, the Via is a zippy RV with great storage.

The used price of this RV is $58,000

Here are a few more 2024 class B RVs with the twin layout:

Winnebago travato 59k, winnebago era 70a, winnebago boldt 70bl, coachmen nova 20rb, thor sequence 20l & 20a, thor dellaro 20a & 20l.

Choosing a suitable RV for your full-time living can be a tricky decision. I don’t want to make the mistake is going too large. I want to be able to comfortably drive the RV anywhere. Maybe some other small RVs with the twin floor plan that I’ve missed?

All of our reviews are based on exhaustive research, industry experience and whenever possible, hands-on testing. When you make a purchase using one of our chosen links we’ll get a small percentage of the proceeds. This supports the site and keeps Jeffsetter running. You can read more here .

Whatever the reason may be, you might find yourself shopping for a Class C RV with twin beds. There are a number of different reasons to want an RV with this type of layout, but what might some of those reasons be, and what can you expect out of the options that are on the market today?

In this article, we’ll go over everything you need to know before shopping for a Class C RV with a twin bed layout. We’ll discuss everything you need to consider before making your final purchase, as well as provide you with some fantastic options that are readily available.

If you’re set on getting a Class C RV with twin beds, let’s get started and dive into the process! Only looking for our list of RV options? Then click here to jump ahead to the 12 Best Class C RVs with twin beds now.

Why Choose A Class C RV With Twin Beds?

There are a number of reasons to choose a Class C RV with twin beds, rather than a bed built for two. Each RVer has their own needs and wants and this can mean separate sleeping areas for those on board. Here are just some of the many reasons why you might consider this style of RV.

For Traveling With A Friend

One of the most obvious reasons to choose an RV with twin beds rather than one large bed is when traveling with friends rather than a partner or spouse. This provides two distinct sleeping arrangements, which is a nice thing to have onboard a Class C RV. Unless you are driving a very large Class C RV, sleeping space will always be at a premium, and twin beds can be a helpful solution.

Twin Beds Mean Spacious Layouts

Many people choose an RV with a pull-out couch option in order to save space, and the same thing can be said for a twin bed layout too. You can utilize twin beds as storage during the daytime, or simply enjoy the unique and more spacious layouts twin bed floorplans generally offer.

You’re Used To Twin Beds

If you are already accustomed to sleeping in a twin bed in a typical residential home, it’s only natural to choose an RV with twin beds too. You may not want to waste the extra space on a large bed, and you might even find a twin bed more comfortable than other options!

Twin Beds For Kids

I f you plan on reserving your twin bed layout for the kids in your life, then y ou can find a few Class C layouts with two twin beds along with another bed for you and your spouse to sleep in. Some Class C RVs even have bunk beds , which always appeal to young campers.

Unique Storage In Place Of A Bed

Not only can you use your two twin beds as storage during the daytime, but you can also fit a number of items inside your RV while you travel that you may not have been able to fit in a larger bed layout. Many Class C RVs provide the option to store things in between the twin beds, such as bicycles and kayaks . For the most part, having a twin bed layout on board your Class C RV results in more space to bring along additional recreational items.

While this isn’t always the case, you may find Class C RVs with twin bed layouts cost a little bit less compared to layouts that have larger beds in them. It always depends on the manufacturer and what’s included in the RV itself, but many manufacturers don’t charge as much for twin-bed layouts compared to other options.

This is only a small list of reasons why you may want to consider a twin bed layout in your RV. You might have your own reasons in mind, and there are plenty of Class C RVs with twin beds on the market today that these options may sway your opinion one way or the other!

What To Consider In A Class C RV With Twin Beds?

Purchasing an RV is an exciting time, whether you’re a first-time buyer, or someone looking to upgrade from a travel trailer or small camper. Here are just a few things to think about before you start shopping for a Class C RV with a twin-bed layout . Let’s take a look now!

Length Of RV

Class C RV twin bed layouts exist in just about every length you can imagine, but do you know what length of RV you’re shopping for? Determining the best-suited size of RV for you is a wise place to start before heading to the dealership.  Most Class C RVs range in length from 25 ft to 40 ft, especially if you are shopping for the relatively new style of RV known as the Super C. This is an extremely large Class C RV, and it may be far bigger than what you’re currently shopping for.

However, if you want a twin bed layout in addition to an extra bed for you and your spouse, you may be shopping for a Class C RV on the larger end of the spectrum. It’s also worth keeping in mind just how long your RV is and where exactly you plan on taking it.

Why? Let’s get into that now.

The larger the RV, the more difficult it will be to drive and maneuver while on the road. You should also keep in mind that certain campgrounds or RV parks have length limits for their sites , and you may find having a smaller RV is much easier to make reservations for.

Layout And Floor Plan

We’ve already talked about how important your RV’s layout and floorplan are, especially if you’re shopping for a Class C RV with twin beds. You already have a specific layout in mind, but that doesn’t mean your job is done!

Determining where exactly you want your twin bedroom to be is important, as well as knowing how you want the rest of your RV to be set up. You may want more space in the kitchen or bathroom, or perhaps you’ve got your eye on a spacious living and dining area.

The good news is, there’s definitely an RV to suit your needs and budget, especially in Class C RVs. While the search may take a while, you should feel confident knowing there’s a layout that works well for you!

Bathroom Layout

Speaking of layout, you should pay particular attention to the bathroom on board your Class C RV with a twin bed layout. You may already have something in mind for your RV bathroom, but these spaces do take some adjustment, depending on how used to them you are.

For example, most smaller RVs utilize what’s known as a wet bath rather than a dry bath. This essentially means you can get everything wet inside the bathroom while you shower, which is often a necessity in smaller layouts.  However, many RVers view this as an inconvenience or something they don’t want to deal with.

That’s why it’s important to look at the bathroom on board any Class C to make sure it works well for your needs.  You may also find bathroom layouts with the sink separate from the toilet, resulting in more flexibility in terms of guest access to bathroom amenities. This may be especially convenient when traveling with a friend or group of friends.

Bed Positions

While it may be disappointing, there aren’t very many different bed position options on board a Class C RV with a twin bed layout. You’re likely looking at layouts that display two twin beds side-by-side, with an aisle between them.

This may not be ideal for everyone, especially if you don’t want to wake up and stare at your guests every single morning! However, it’s important to keep an open mind as you shop, as the majority of Class C RVs are set up in this manner.

You may find an option with two twin bunk beds as opposed to two twin beds side by side, or you might find a particularly unique layout with twin beds separate from each other, creating two unique sleeping spaces. Just know the chances are rare.

Boondocking Ability

Are you hoping to camp off-grid, or otherwise disconnect from any RV hookups or utilities? You should definitely keep an eye out for Class C RVs that are perfect for boondocking .

Also known as dry camping, boondocking is when you’re camping totally off-grid, and not in a campsite or RV park. This typically means purchasing an RV with solar panels or extra batteries, and you may even keep an eye out for larger fresh water holding tanks.

There are plenty of twin-bed Class C RVs that offer boondocking features or the option to add boondocking amenities. However, you should know what you are looking for before you start shopping, as many of these features don’t come standard and will incur extra costs.

Luxury Amenities

Speaking of features, are you hoping for a touch of luxury inside your Class C RV with a twin bed layout? Many RV manufacturers build their RVs as either standard models or luxurious ones, and you should keep an eye out for these luxury RVs if this is something you’re interested in.

Luxury RVs typically have finer interior design features, such as upholstery and hardwood cabinetry. You may also find that luxury RVs have more features than standard ones, such as solar panels, power lift beds, and automatic leveling systems.

There are a number of luxury Class C RVs on the market today, but it all boils down to budget and whether or not you think luxury is necessary. Of course, luxury RVs come at a higher price than standard ones, so this is something to keep in mind as you shop.

Diesel Or Gasoline

This has been an ongoing debate in the RV industry. You can get Class C RVs in either a diesel or gasoline fuel type, but which one is better, and which one is better for you is up to you to decide. Many people argue diesel engines are better than gasoline ones, as they tend to save more money in the long run given diesel fuel is cheaper and more efficient.

However, the initial purchase price of diesel Class C RVs is typically much higher compared to gasoline.  Gasoline Class C RVs work just as well as diesel ones, and they come at a lower price. However, many diesel Class C RVs have a touch more luxury to make up for this higher purchase price, so this is something to consider.

Overall, you should think about how often you plan on using your RV. This typically makes the decision for just about any new RV owner, as you may not drive it enough to merit the more expensive fuel type in the first place.

Lastly, your budget should be something to consider throughout the entire RV purchase process. It’s essential to note the initial or listed purchase price on most RVs will not be what you end up paying.

This is because most RVs, including Class C RVs, have plenty of other options and additions for you to consider before driving your rig off of the lot. If you’re purchasing directly from an RV manufacturer, you should know that your grand total will be higher than what was originally listed on the website.

Class C RVs range in cost quite dramatically, depending on the chassis type, the fuel type, and what features you want to be included. However, the lowest cost of any Class C RV averages around $90k, while you can end up spending over $500k on a luxury Super C. That’s why it’s important to know this and stick to your budget!

There are a number of reasons to love the Tiffin Wayfarer , especially because it’s a compact Class C RV on a dependable Mercedes-Benz chassis. It also has a diesel engine, quality furnishings, and is available in 4 unique floorplans, including a twin bed layout with the 25LW model. There’s plenty of storage in the bedroom itself, with drawers beneath the twin beds and two wardrobes at the end of the beds too. There’s also a shared nightstand in between, perfect for storing a book or journal.

The bathroom is in the center of the rig, with a shower on one side and the toilet and sink on the other. I love this bathroom setup as it means every part of the bathroom can be utilized at the same time which is great news for couples or small groups of travelers.  The interior design of the Tiffin Wayfarer is luxurious and understated in a way that makes it feel comfortable, like a welcoming home.

Tiffin has included everything I think I’d ever need in the Wayfarer, especially when considering the full kitchen and relaxing lounge space included with every floorplan. I’m a huge fan of the solid surface countertops that feel high quality and durable for prepping any and all meals. It’s worth noting, however, that not all floorplans come with the same size refrigerator.

Some are equipped with either a gas-electric or 12-volt, 6.5-cubic-foot refrigerator, while other layouts feature an 8-cubic-foot, or 5-cubic-foot refrigerator which may sway the final decision.  Overall, the main drawback with the Wayfarer is its price point, at over $200k. Given the renowned Mercedes-Benz chassis and efficient diesel engine, however, this is a Class C boasting an array of reliable features, so it’s no surprise the price tag is a pretty expensive one.

Tiffin has been in business for a long time, offering multiple warranty options, including structural ones. They tend to be a reliable brand name but feel free to get the full picture and check out our full review of the Tiffin brand by clicking here.

  • Separate toilet and shower bathroom
  • Stainless steel kitchen appliances
  • 2,000W pure sine wave inverter as standard
  • Solar power isn’t standard
  • High price point

Best On A Budget: Thor Four Winds

  • Interior Height : 7′ 0″
  • MSRP : $116,700
  • Exterior Length : 24′ 1″ – 32′ 8″
  • Exterior Height : 11′ 0″ – 11′ 2″

With an MSRP starting under $117k, the Thor Four Winds is one of the best Class C RVs with twin beds on a budget. There are 12 functional floorplans to explore, but only the 25V layout features twin beds. This is a spacious Class C RV that costs a fraction of the Tiffin Wayfarer and still remains nearly as luxurious. Thor is a brand I have recognized and trusted over the years, and the Four Winds is no different.

It’s a Class C RV that’s easy to drive for beginners and those just starting out in the RVing world. At j ust under 27 ft long, this floor plan is roomy without being a nightmare to park and store over winter. Though the main purpose of the 25V floorplan is for twin bed sleeping, I enjoy the fact that I can transform the separate beds into one full king bed whenever it’s just me and my partner hitting the road.

This floorplan can impressively sleep up to 5 people , with a heavy-duty over-cab bunk, and a convertible dinette area, allowing me to bring along as many friends as I can fit inside the RV! While the bathroom has no separation between the shower and the toilet and sink, it’s a dry bath which is the style of bathroom I prefer in RVs.

The interior design of this RV is simple and modern, making it easy to clean and maintain. It doesn’t quite have the luxury edge of the Wayrarer, but a few personal touches are all that’s needed to bring some character to this Class C RV. The Four Winds itself is built on a reliable Ford chassis, and it has a gasoline engine for those who prefer to avoid a diesel-powered rig.

The Four Winds comes prepped for solar, but having a full solar electrical system with a panel or two comes with a substantial extra cost. The additional expense is a little disappointing, but solar is a fantastic option for staying powered up no matter where the road takes me. Thor has, again, created a Class C RV that adventurers can rely on when traveling around the country and beyond.

  • 7′ 0″ interior height
  • Convertible twin beds
  • Dry bath
  • Interior lacks luxury
  • Solar isn’t standard
  • Model-specific exterior kitchen

Best Diesel Rig: Jayco Melbourne

  • Interior Height : 6′ 11″
  • MSRP : $164,093
  • Exterior Length : 25′ 2″
  • Exterior Height : 11′ 5″

If you’re looking for a diesel engine and a Mercedes-Benz chassis without breaking the bank, it’s worth checking out the Jayco Melbourne . This Class C RV has a twin bed floorplan, the 24T, which provides sleeping for up to 4 people thanks to its creative and functional layout. One of the top-selling features of the Melbourne is that it’s just over 25 ft long. It makes this Class C RV ideal for driving through cities or around highways, as it isn’t too big to handle. Plus, I can camp just about anywhere in a rig this size!

Speaking of driving, the Mercedes-Benz chassis is a dream, with multiple safety features and easily accessible automotive perks. Backup and side-view cameras and a 7-inch integrated Mercedes-Benz infotainment center with GPS help make journeys go smoother.  Plus, there’s a 5,000-pound towing capacity, which is ideal for bringing along extra lightweight equipment on vacation.

The interior design of the Melbourne is comfortable and luxurious and is almost on the same level as the Wayfarer. The attractive subway tile backsplash and realistic laminate floors are easy to clean, and this means I don’t have to worry if my dog runs inside with muddy paws! In addition to this, Jayco installs fantastic cabinetry in each and every one of their rigs, handcrafted in Amish Country to bring an edge of lux to this Class C RV.

The company also offers customers a number of different warranty options, providing peace of mind while on the road. I’m also confident in the Melbourne, since it has industry-leading features, such as a heavy-duty over-cab bunk and ample insulation for four-season camping.  There’s so much overhead storage found onboard the Melbourne that I don’t need to fret about leaving anything behind.

There’s very little to critique when it comes to the Jayco Melbourne, though some people either love or hate the Jayco brand. It would be great for features such as the 200W solar panel and folding windshield sun shade to be standard as this is on the more expensive side for a diesel Class C RV. Our Jayco review is worth reading before making a final purchase, to learn more about what the company brings to the table.

  • Efficient diesel engine and durable Mercedes-Benz chassis
  • Attractive interior design
  • Heating holding tanks as standard
  • RVers either love or hate the Jayco name
  • Many features are not standard

Best For Boondocking: Winnebago EKKO

  • MSRP : $207,707
  • Exterior Length : 23′ 0″

There’s a compact, boondocking-able Class C RV ready to impress any and every RVer, and it’s the Winnebago EKKO . This RV is one of the most unique I’ve seen in a long time, and it would personally be my top choice if I wanted to convert from a travel trailer to a Class C RV.  Built on a Ford 3.5L EcoBoost V6 chassis, the Winnebago EKKO is a 4WD camper able to handle tough terrain and weather conditions. At a mere 23 ft long, this Class C is effortless to drive and easy to park on a driveway or store when not in use.

Not only is this RV boondock ready with three solar panels included standard, but it also has all of its plumbing installed above the floor, boasts heated pass-through storage, and contains an abundance of insulation for ultimate comfort in any weather, including the sub-zero temperatures winter often brings. There’s only one floorplan for this rig, and that’s the 22A with a sleeping capacity of 4 thanks to a twin bed setup.

This kind of layout is perfect for those traveling with friends, but it’s also great for solo travel or those adventuring in a couple as the twin beds convert into one large queen bed. Plus, it’s even possible to order this rig with a unique pop-top and lofted bed, providing views as far as the eye can see. Choosing this option means a sleeping capacity of up to four people.

The EKKO is built for boondocking, with large holding tanks and plenty of solar power. It’s also possible to add additional batteries , a tailgate package with an outdoor kitchen, and much more. The add-ons for this rig are almost as exciting as the rig itself, though it’s essential to remember that extras will increase the total spend considerably.

This is a big consideration since the starting price of the Winnebago EKKO is over $200k. This is fairly high, especially when considering it’s built on a Ford Chassis instead of a Mercedes-Benz chassis, and it has a gasoline engine rather than a diesel one. For those hoping to camp off-grid and generally explore where most Class C RVs can’t typically venture, the EKKO is food for thought.

  • Four-season ready with heated storage
  • Sleeping capacity of 4
  • Large holding tanks
  • Expensive for a Ford chassis
  • Gas not diesel

Most Luxurious: Entegra Qwest

  • MSRP : $212,993
  • Exterior Height : 10′ 11″

Entegra is known for building luxurious rigs at a high price point, but they are truly unlike any other RVs on the market today. The Entegra Qwest is a fantastic Class C RV with a twin bed layout available, and floorplans that exude ultimate comfort, luxury, and style. Built on a 25′ 2″ feet Mercedes-Benz chassis, the Qwest is a diesel engine beauty that needs to be seen to truly appreciate.

It’s a Class C RV with such innovative thought, shown throughout the rig, but particularly in the living room slide which creates additional space to sit and relax once I’m parked at the campground.  There may only be one interior design option for the Qwest, it’s a luxurious one that’s classic but sleek. The kitchen, in particular, is beautiful, with rich wood cabinetry and marble countertops, with cupboards that are curved in a way that suits the space perfectly.

Given this is a luxury rig, there are a number of features included as standard, such as a tankless water heater, heated storage and heated holding tanks, automatic leveling jacks, and more. This is just a small sample of everything that’s included in the initial purchase price. There are even some boondocking additions possible in the form of a solar power system and an onboard generator.

I love the large 14 ft awning on the side of the rig that opens up the space even more and means I can utilize the exterior features of the Qwest no matter the weather. Priced over $200k, this is a Class C RV that needs a lot of thought and consideration. However, if you’re truly looking for a luxurious option, this is a great one to go with, and it will likely last many years of RVing.

  • Efficient Mercedez-Benz chassis
  • Stunning interior finish
  • Only 1 interior design option

Highest Towing Capacity: Newmar Supreme Aire

  • Interior Height : 6′ 9″
  • MSRP : $725,496
  • Exterior Length : 41′ 2″ – 44′ 11″
  • Exterior Height : 13′ 2″

Speaking of expensive and luxurious Class C RVs, the Newmar Supreme Aire fits the description perfectly! The Supreme Air is a Super C RV with a price tag that’s hard to stomach at a whopping $725k. The brand is known for creating some of the most stunning and capable RVs in the RV world, and this is part of the reason each and every Newmar has a luxury price to go alongside the opulent interior.

This mighty rig can tow up to 30,000 pounds , which is 25,000 pounds more than the average Class C can handle. It’s a Super C build to handle just about anything, and it has a twin bed layout that’s creative and useful. There’s a king-size bed onboard this 45-foot-long rig, with two twin beds set up as bunks, which is ideal for families and groups of friends.

Upon stepping into the Supreme Aire, every inch of luxury can be seen. So much so, that it feels more like a traditional home than a mighty home on wheels. It feels like a high-end penthouse in a way, with wooden molding and large tile floors. There’s storage for days, and it has a sleeping capacity for 6-7 people, so everyone can come along for adventures on the open road.

The only downsides to this rig are the substantial cost, and huge size, as it’s like driving a semi-truck around. While I can tow to my heart’s content, this motorhome is only meant for the expert RVer. It’s a lot to handle, even more to pay for, and it may not be able to go everywhere as it’s simply so big.

  • Abundant storage
  • 30k towing capacity
  • Very large to drive, park, and store
  • Expensive at over $725k

Most Storage: Gulf Stream Coach BT Cruiser

  • Interior Height : 6′ 4″
  • MSRP : $124,869
  • Exterior Length : 22′ 6″
  • Exterior Height : 10′ 6″

A relatively unknown RV brand these days, despite being family-owned since 1983, Gulf Stream Coach has a pretty cool twin bed layout onboard their BT Cruiser Class C RV. This RV is budget-friendly, with many features included as standard, and a classy interior that’s sure to suit most RVers.  The twin bed floorplan on the Gulf Stream Coach BT Cruiser has a unique rear bathroom, tucked behind the beds.

Both beds are located midway along this 22′ 6″ long Class C RV, which I like as it means the bathroom can be a fully private space at the rear of the RV. This size of rig is perfect for those who like me, prefer to drive smaller rigs, ideally below 25 feet long.  There’s plenty of living and storage space on board this Class C, with a compact kitchen with a full oven and range combo.

The bathroom is also spacious, especially considering its location in the rig. There are overhead cabinets above the twin beds and even more storage in the living area to keep everything neat and tidy.  The interior design is nothing remarkable, but it’s fresh, easy to maintain, and works well for multiple styles. The BT Cruiser has vinyl flooring and upholstery that is also manageable to clean, making this rig convenient and affordable.

Another convenient perk of the BT Cruiser is the fact that it has a 7,500lb towing capacity, which is higher than many other RVs on our list. This gives me the convenience and ability to tow a car or boat behind the RV, making any camping trip more fun and exciting.  Overall, this Class C RV is quite basic, but it has a vast array of features available to support camping adventures, especially for those just starting out on the road.

  • 7,500lb towing capacity
  • Abundant storage throughout
  • Variety of floorplans available
  • Basic interior aesthetic
  • 6′ 4″ internal height is not ideal for tall travelers

Most Compact: Leisure Travel Vans Wonder

  • Interior Height : 6′ 5″
  • MSRP : $189,960
  • Exterior Length : 24′ 9″
  • Exterior Height : 9′ 11″

The Wonder from Leisure Travel Vans is another fantastic choice for anyone seeking a rig that’s a breeze to drive and maintain. Just as the name suggests, Leisure Travel Vans creates unique Class Cs that ride the line between a campervan and a motorhome.  The Wonder is 24 feet in length, making it easy to drive and park in a variety of situations. With the Wonder, I have no trouble camping in even the smallest of RV parks, and I can even boondock or camp wherever I choose to in a rig this small.

Another cool perk about the Wonder is that it has two twin bed floorplan options, one with the beds at the rear of the coach, and another with the beds at the front, behind the driver seat. This provides more options than most of the other Class C RVs on our twin bed layout list. I just have to decide where I would rather have my twin beds placed!

With an MSRP of over $180k, the Wonder is, by no means, an affordable RV for everyone. However, Leisure Travel Vans are recognized for their attention to detail, high-quality finishes, and luxurious rigs, so any investment is worthwhile.  The rear bed floorplan has a unique convertible dining and living area, giving me the option to stow my table as needed.

The front bedroom floorplan allows the entire rear of the rig to be the bathroom, while the other option has the shower and toilet separate from one another. This freedom of choice allows me to explore the different options and decide on the rig that suits me best.

The fact that this small Class C RV has two twin bed floorplans is fantastic, and gives me more options than many others on this list. I love that I can also outfit the Wonder as need be, with boondocking abilities and convenient features. However, these options are not included in the standard price and will increase the total spend.

  • 2 twin bed floorplans
  • Compact and easy-to-drive
  • Expensive

More Than Two Beds: Thor Quantum

  • MSRP : $120,900

For those needing more space onboard a Class C RV, the Thor Quantum has a bunkbed floorplan, with a walk-around queen bed, a dinette that converts into another bed, and an over-cab bunk. It’s possible to sleep 7 in this rig, which is hard to come by with a Class C of this size!  There’s a lot to love about the Thor Quantum, and it has made multiple lists on our blog, including some of the best Class C RVs for tall people since the interior height is 7′ 0″.

The bunk bed floorplan has a convenient and spacious bathroom along with a master suite, complete with a wardrobe and an abundance of storage. I can easily bring along everything I need, whether I end up storing it inside the RV or in any of the outdoor storage compartments.  The kitchen is open, with the counter space and stove separated from the fridge and pantry area. This gives me even more space, and there’s a dinette as well as a sofa for seating the whole family.

This RV is on the bigger side, especially with larger floorplans, but Thor has still made it possible to boondock in the Quantum. It’s possible to add solar panels to the rig, but large holding tanks come standard for staying hydrated and sanitary when parked away from the campground.

There’s plenty to appreciate in the Thor Quantum, and it really is a great fit for families or groups of friends wanting to hit the road together. The only downsides for me as the bland interior decor, and considerable price, considering this isn’t branded as a luxury RV, and many features aren’t standard. However, considering the size of this RV and what RVers can do in it, the Quantum has a lot to offer!

  • Sleep capacity of 7
  • Bunked twin beds and walk-around queen bed
  • Mediocre interior decor
  • Lack of kitchen counter space

Most Unique: Leisure Travel Vans Unity

  • MSRP : $186,370
  • Exterior Length : 25′ 1″
  • Exterior Height : 10′ 6″

Very similar to the Wonder, there’s a lot to love about the Unity, also from Leisure Travel Vans . While the Unity only has one twin bed floorplan as compared to the Wonder, which has two, the Unity is slightly larger and more unique in its layout.  Starting at $186k, the Unity is an investment that’s beautiful, both inside and out.

Not only is the exterior a lovely white fiberglass, but I can match the aesthetics with that custom, curved cabinetry. I love having a range of options in terms of interior design and decor, as it means I can truly make the Unity van my own and feel different from the crowd.  When I first walk into the twin bed floorplan of this particular Class C RV, I head directly into the kitchen and seating area directly behind the cab.

The kitchen is well-appointed and gorgeous, with sturdy countertops and all of the appliances I can ever need on the road. The large fridge is ideal for keeping everyone fed for a few days while boondocking, and the wardrobe space is perfect for keeping belongings packed away, and the camper van clutter-free. I like that the twin beds are surrounded by storage as it allows everybody’s items to be kept separate and nothing gets muddled.

I like the spacious bathroom with a separate shower that keeps the rest of the bathroom dry. For an extra layer of convenience, I can join the twin beds into one large king bed with ease, whenever I need to. Like the Wonder, t he Unity is also built on a reliable and safe Mercedes-Benz chassis, with a diesel engine. This will save money while on the road, though it does increase the initial purchase price. However, there’s a lot to love about the Unity, especially for a Class C RV with style!

  • Beautiful and unique design, inside and out
  • Customizable interior
  • No slide-outs, so it may feel cramped with multiple people on board

Best Conversion: Winnebago Navion

  • Interior Height : 6′ 8″
  • MSRP : $201,056
  • Exterior Length : 25′ 6″
  • Exterior Height : 11′ 0″

While the Unity doesn’t have any slide-outs or options to make the living area larger, the Winnebago Navion does. The 24V is a twin bed floorplan, and the beds convert into a large and spacious rear sleeping area, along with an extended front living space once I’m parked at camp.

At only 25′ 6″ long , and starting at over $200k, the Navion is a smaller but pricey rig that might tick some, if not all boxes for new RVers in particular. This Class C RV is constructed on a Mercedes-Benz chassis with a diesel engine, which is a good starting point, especially at this price!

The interior design on this rig is luxurious, with curved wooden cabinetry and high-end touches throughout, such as premium vinyl flooring and upholstery. There are stainless steel accents in the bathroom and kitchen, and even more convenient touches when it comes to storage solutions.

One thing I’m particularly drawn to, is the boondocking ability of the Navion, as it’s fitted with solar panels, batteries, an inverter, and large holding tanks, all included standard. Plus, given how small this RV is, it’s ready to go wherever I want to take it, and I can rest easy knowing I will most likely be able to park it anywhere on my travels.

The kitchen is also built for boondocking, giving me the option for either an electric induction or a propane gas stove top, both included standard. There’s also a spacious refrigerator that allows me to keep food fresh for longer and stay out of town for as long as possible.

However, at the end of the day, this is a high price for a semi-luxurious RV. There may be other options on this list that are more unique and interesting, or better suited to different lifestyles. However, for a fairly standard luxury Class C RV with twin beds, the Navion is worth a look.

  • Safe and reliable Mercedes-Benz chassis
  • Attractive interior design with curved cabinets
  • High price point compared to other more luxury options
  • Only 3 floorplans

Runner-Up: Forest River Forester TS

  • MSRP : $136,724
  • Exterior Length : 26′ 1″
  • Exterior Height : 10′ 5″

Another compact option with twin beds is the Forest River Forester, specifically the Ford Transit van option. Typically, the Forester comes in multiple chassis options, but only the Ford Transit van has a twin bed floorplan that’s budget-friendly and functional. At just over 26′ long, the Forester offers the convenience of a small RV alongside the spacious and versatile option of a slide-out.

I like that I can extend the living area, which is located just behind the cab, the minute I reach camp. Like other floorplans on this list, the RV has a spacious rear bathroom with twin beds directly in front. This gives me easy access to the bathroom, as well as ensures I have a dry bath as opposed to a wet bath, which is the style of RV I prefer!

This Class C RV is also easy to Boondock in, with a 12V fridge and solar panel options I can add to the initial purchase price. Although this means the overall price will increase, having boondocking features on an RV is vital for spending time off-grid in nature. The interior design is a little bland, but nothing that can’t be improved with some color and imagination.

The skylight and windows throughout the Class C RV help keep everything light and airy, which is important with smaller RVs, as they can otherwise feel dark and stuffy. Forest River is a name I have recognized and followed for several years, and although not everyone is a fan of the company, I believe they create RVs able to be enjoyed by diverse RVers.

  • Large rear bathroom
  • Plenty of storage and boondocking ability
  • Plain interior design

Final Thoughts

Finding the best Class C RVs with twin beds is a great option for those who enjoy traveling with friends or even for couples who prefer to keep the bed to themselves!  Either way, finding a Class C RV with a twin bed layout can be a challenge, but with our list of rigs, hopefully, we’ve made things a lot easier!  No matter what, there’s an RV out there for you, and whoever you plan on traveling with!

Updated April 7, 2024

Travel trailers with bunk beds are the perfect solution to the problem of having a bed for everyone. Bunk beds can also be more convenient than converting a dinette into a bed each night. Another nice perk of bunk beds is that they allow children to have their own space to store their clothing, mobile devices, and toys away from the living area.

We have attended many RV Shows and dealerships all across the country to tour, review, and rate these travel trailers. We have also read many reviews and comments from our subscribers.

Our guide to the 10 best travel trailers with bunk beds will help you find the perfect travel trailer. We focused on travel trailers with bunk beds that weigh less than 7,000 lbs because these units are perfect for weekenders, part-timers, and even full-time families road-schooling their kids across America.

What Size Campers are 7,000 lbs.?

What Size Camper are Travel Trailer With Bunk Beds Under 7,000 lbs.

The size of campers that are 7,000 pounds ranges from the upper 20 feet to low 30 feet in length. They usually have tandem axles and can be found with or without a single front room slideout. It’s rare to see one with two entry doors, but they exist. The average height of a travel trailer at this length and weight is between 10-11 feet and 6.5 feet inside.

RV manufacturers make some using the stick-and-tin conventional method using a wood frame and corrugated aluminum sidewall shell, like the CrossRoads Zinger Lite above. Others use the laminated method with aluminum tube framing and flat-paneled fiberglass sidewalls, where components are sealed to the panels with heat and a clear coating.

Travel trailers have the most popular floorplan variations at this length and weight since consumers find them the ideal size. In recent years, the best RV floorplans for families favor full-size bunks over twins. Murphy beds outsell permanent beds because they’re great space savers.

Other features in campers that are 7,000 lbs. include:

  • Either standard or U-shaped dinettes.
  • 8–10 cu. ft. Refrigerators
  • Multiple LED TVs
  • RV outdoor kitchens
  • Wet, dry, and full-width bathrooms
  • Massive storage space
  • Prep for data, satellite, solar, and other inputs

10 Best Travel Trailers with Bunk Beds: Under 7,000 LBS.

A lightweight travel trailer with bunk beds is the perfect compromise in terms of affordability and sleeping space. Here are some of the best the market has to offer, with more than enough capacity for your family and guests.

The double-over-double bunks sit right next to a small but full bathroom, with a large enough dinette to support a large family that likes to eat their meals together. With pass-through storage, nearly a ton of cargo-carrying capacity, and a queen Murphy bed, neither space nor weight is limiting.

It doesn’t match the CCC of some of the other RVs on this list, but it’s still a respectable 1,693 lbs, which should be enough to hit the road with a large group of family or friends. The double bunks are always a nice touch, especially when situated next to a full bathroom.

Airstream Flying Cloud 30 FB Exterior

✅ Features a full rear office for those who need to work remotely while on the road

⛔ TV is positioned sideways from the couch and dinette

  • Length: 30.8′
  • UVW: 6,557 lbs
  • CCC: 2,243 lbs
  • GVWR: 8,800 lbs
  • Tongue Weight: 903 lbs

The timeless, classic aesthetic appeal of the Airstream remains ever-present—only this time, there’s an office within that shiny, aluminum shell. No, it’s not like a luxury office you might find in a condo or even in your own residential home. However, it’s clearly an office space with all of the amenities you expect in such an environment.

Even with that unique and rare addition, the Airstream Flying Cloud 30FB has enough remaining space to sleep up to 9 people. They even found room to install some closets and wardrobes, over a ton of storage capacity and spaces and a full bathroom. Not bad at all, especially for working families on the move!

6. r-pod RP-203

r-pod RP-203 Exterior

✅ The small slide and Murphy bed do a fantastic job of maximizing the living space throughout

⛔ Air conditioner is optional, not a standard feature

  • Length: 25′
  • UVW: 5,169 lbs
  • CCC: 2,556 lbs
  • GVWR: 7,725 lbs
  • Tongue Weight: 725 lbs

One of three floorplans, the r-pod-203 comes with a dual-battery rack (for those who prefer going off-grid or boondocking), rotocast tanks, seamless countertops, a tire pressure monitoring system, a GE refrigerator, and enough interior space to sleep up to eight people.

It helps that the slide includes the dinette, significantly boosting the living space through the kitchen and into the entertainment space. The 60 x 74 Murphy bed only adds to the spacious, daily feel of living in the 203. Even better, this puppy can hold over a ton of extra gear, so feel free to pack it down on your next adventure.

7. Riverside Retro 240BH

Riverside Retro 240BH Exterior Travel Trailer with Bunk Beds

✅ Unique and captivating retro look, on the inside and the outside

⛔ Counter space is pretty limited

  • Length: 27′ 5″
  • UVW: 4,260 lbs
  • CCC: 3,120 lbs
  • GVWR: 7,380 lbs
  • Tongue Weight: 380 lbs

The retro look has been gaining steam in recent years, and you can have a Riverside Retro at an affordable price, with a small weight footprint, and enough interior space and accommodations to sleep 6. That’s more than enough for a midsize family to hit the road comfortably.

For a travel trailer with bunk beds, considering its light weight, the cargo carrying capacity is immense, at over a ton and a half. If you’re the adventurous sort, you can spend significant time packing this RV down with all of the outdoor gear you can imagine and your personal effects.

8. Palomino Puma Ultra Lite 16BHX

Palomino Puma Ultra Lite 16BHX Exterior

  • Length: 21′ 6″
  • UVW: 3,144 lbs
  • CCC: 726 lbs
  • GVWR: 3,870 lbs
  • Tongue Weight: 370 lbs

As a lightweight travel trailer with bunk beds, the Palomino Puma Ultra Lite 16BHX , from the outside, doesn’t look like it can possibly hold all that it does. However, step inside, and you’ll find the opposite of what you might expect, with bunk beds, moderate counter space, and even a queen-sized bed.

You can opt for either the dinette or dual recliners, the latter of which are very comfortable. As a light sleeper, the 16BHX is a fantastic option for smaller family sizes or even for couples that like to host guests from time to time.

  • GVWR: 7,610 lbs
  • Tongue Weight: 610 lbs

With enough room for eight to sleep, you can even bring your four-legged friend along for the ride. Below the fridge, you’ll find a special dog dish drawer that’s highly convenient. The CCC is moderate, with pass-through storage, hidden storage beneath the bed, and plenty of cabinetry throughout.

10. Keystone Bullet 211BHSWE

Keystone Bullet 211BHSWE Exterior Travel Trailer with Bunk Beds

✅ Water-resistant, Hyperdeck flooring throughout

⛔ Oven is pretty tiny for a kitchen that needs to produce for up to eight people

  • Length: 26.1′
  • UVW: 4,370 lbs
  • CCC: 2,227 lbs
  • GVWR: 6,597 lbs
  • Tongue Weight: 470 lbs

The last travel trailer with bunk beds is as good as the first. The Keystone Bullet 211BHSWE features a three-year warranty on the exterior, which is always a good thing. Some significant tech also went into this model, including the Hyperdeck flooring, Blade A/C ducting system, and the SolarFlex package.

The interior is fairly spacious, with a queen bed up front, double bunks in the back, optional storage in place of one of the bunks, and a spacious bathroom that includes a tub. There’s not much counter space to work with in the kitchen. However, you also have the exterior kitchen when it’s time to cook big meals for a large family.

Can Adults Sleep On RV Bunk Beds?

For the most part, adults can sleep on RV bunk beds, especially when they are double beds. Most doubles are about 74″ long, which is enough for someone 6′ 2″ tall to stretch completely out. Double bunks are also wide enough to move around without falling off the bunk.

Twins are a little more difficult, but it can still be done. Of course, a grown adult may be a little more uncomfortable in a twin bunk, depending on size, weight, and height. For those adults out there who can literally sleep anywhere, bunks are far from an issue.

Can I Pull a 7,000 lb Travel Trailer With Bunk Beds?

Can I Pull a 7,000 lbs. Travel Trailer With Bunk Beds

You can pull a 7,000 lbs. travel trailer with bunk beds with a full-size SUV or half-ton pickup truck. The examples we presented have a GVWR (Gross Vehicle Weight Rating) between 6,000 and 7,000 pounds. This is different from an RV with a dry weight (a.k.a. Unloaded Vehicle Weight/UVW) of the same weight.

An RV with a 7,000 lbs. dry weight means that the coach weighs that much when it’s empty. When you fill it with fresh water, your camping gear, food, clothing, and passengers, the total Gross Vehicle Weight (filled-up weight) could be as high as 9,000 pounds or more.

The GVWR is the RV manufacturer’s rating (and various governing agencies) that tells everyone what the safest maximum weight the rig can hold (the keyword is “safe”). If you have a tow vehicle with a 7,700 lbs. towing capacity, realistically, which one of these RVs do you think would be the safest for you to hitch up?

Here are some recommendations on the best SUVs to tow a travel trailer with bunk beds under 7,000 lbs.

Why lightweight travel trailers are in demand

If you’re thinking about buying one of these lightweight travel trailers, you’re in good company. Demand for big and small RV models is soaring.

For example, according to the latest issue of RV RoadSigns , the quarterly sales forecast published by the RV Industry Association (RVIA), RV manufacturers are still scrambling to meet consumer demand that started in 2020. This year, more than 600,000 new RVs will be sold. These figures are all-time high that will exceed the record-breaking RV sales of 2021.

“The remarkable production from the RV manufacturers and suppliers is nothing like we have ever seen before, and our new forecast shows the record-breaking streak will continue,” said RVIA President and CEO Craig Kirby.

Editor’s note: RV manufacturer materials costs are constantly increasing. The current base costs for the small, light travel trailers on our list may have changed since the time of this writing (Q4 2021).

The Micro Minnie 2108TB has a length of only 22 feet 5 inches and an unloaded weight of just over 4,000 pounds.

Making this Micro Minnie one of the smallest travel trailers available to offer both twin beds and a slide-out.

Which provides unparalleled flexibility and utility to this small travel trailer.

4. Lance 2185

Lance Travel Trailer 2185 Floor Plan

  • Average Cost : $60,000
  • Length : 26 Feet 1 Inch
  • Dry Weight : 5,345 Pounds
  • Sleeping Capacity : 6
  • Bathroom : Split 3-Piece Dry Bath

Another floorplan type that pairs nicely with an RV slide-out is the wildly popular bunkhouse floorplan, designed to maximize sleeping capacity.

Because if you’re going to maximize sleeping capacity you need to maximize space, and one of the best ways to do this is with a slide-out.

Bunkhouse floor plans are offered in two main configurations, depending on the size of the trailer.

The first type is a floor plan that offers bunk beds, like the Lance 2185 featured here.

This type of bunkhouse floor plan is typically found on smaller to mid-size campers.

The second type offers a large dedicated rear bunkhouse with multiple bunks, which is typically found on larger travel trailers ( like #10 on this list ).

Lance Travel Trailer 2185 Interior

Regardless of type though, an RV slide-out is almost a must on a bunkhouse camper , as you need to maximize living space to maximize sleeping capacity.

Which this Lance 26-foot travel trailer floor plan does a great job of, as this small camper with bunks offers rear bunk beds, a convertible u-shaped dinette booth, and a large north-to-south fixed bed.

Only made possible by the trailer’s mid-slide-out.

For more information on the Lance 2185 premium camper, check out Lance’s website by clicking here .

5. Coachmen Northern Spirit 2252MD

Coachmen Northern Spirit 2252MD Floorplan

  • Average Cost : $35,000
  • Length : 26 Feet 11 Inches
  • Dry Weight : 5,200 Pounds

The Coachmen Northern Spirit 2252MD is unique for many reasons, but one of the main ones is its large slide-out.

As the Northern Spirit 2252MD offers one of the largest slide-outs available on a 26-foot camper .

Because of this, it also offers more interior space than just about any other 26-foot travel trailer .

But just how much bigger is the slide-out on the Northern Spirit 2252MD?

The answer is about twice the size of a standard slide-out, as the curbside slide on the 2252MD spans more than half the RV.

Allowing the trailer to offer features and amenities not typically found on a camper of its size, including a rear L-shaped kitchen, both a sofa and a dinette booth, and a north-to-south queen bed.

Jayco Jay Flight 267BHS Floor Plan

  • Average Cost : $31,500
  • Length : 30 Feet 4 Inches
  • Dry Weight : 5,880 Pounds
  • Sleeping Capacity : 8

The Jayco Jay Flight 267BHS floor plan is a great example of a hybrid bunkhouse layout .

Because while the trailer doesn’t offer a completely separate rear bunkhouse, it also offers more than just two single bunk beds.

As the Jay Flight 267BHS offers rear corner double bunks with their own separate windows and privacy curtains .

Acting like little mini bedrooms inside the trailer, which is why they’re so popular with kids.

Plus, when you add these double bunks to the trailer’s additional sleeping berths, including a convertible dinette booth, a jack-knife sofa, and a queen bed, it brings the sleeping capacity up to eight.

Making it one of the highest sleeping capacities offered on a 30-foot camper .

This 30-foot travel trailer floor plan offers more than just a high-sleeping capacity and double bunks though, as the trailer is loaded with upgrades as well.

Including a large curb-side slide-out , a fully equipped kitchen with a pantry, a private front bedroom, and a dedicated entertainment center.

  • Average Cost : $27,000
  • Length : 30 Feet 11 Inches

  • Slide Outs : 1

At just under $30,000, the KZ RV Sportsmen SE 271BHKSE represents one of the best values you’ll find on a 30-foot travel trailer.

Because despite its more affordable price, this camper is loaded with upgrades and amenities.

Starting with perhaps the most important upgrade for this list, a large curb-side slide-out , which incorporates the trailer’s dinette booth and jack-knife sofa.

KZ RV Sportsmen SE 271BHKSE Interior

Because both floor plans offer a private front bedroom with a queen bed, a well-equipped campside kitchen, double rear corner bunks, and a spacious rear bathroom.

Which makes the Sportsmen SE 271BHKSE all the more impressive.

8. Grand Design Imagine 2970RL

Grand Design Imagine 2970RL Floorplan

  • Length : 34 Feet 2 Inches
  • Dry Weight : 7,397 Pounds
  • Slide-Outs : 2

The Grand Design Imagine 2970RL offers the coveted rear living room layout with opposing slide-outs.

This means that this RV floorplan has not one, but two slide-outs.

Giving the camper much more living space compared to a travel trailer offering only one or no slide-outs.

Plus, because the slide-outs are arranged in an opposing configuration, it gives the camper a very open and spacious feel, typically only found on larger 5th wheels .

Grand Design Imagine 2970RL Interior

The extended slide-out living space also helps the trailer feel more like a home than an RV.

Prioritizing relaxation and entertainment, this larger travel trailer floor plan provides the perfect setting for hanging out and unwinding after a day of adventure.

In addition, the large windows found on the campside slide-out ensure the trailer is flooded with tons of natural light.

Further enhancing the feeling of space inside the camper, which when combined with all its premium features makes this travel trailer hard to beat.

Advantages of Travel Trailer Floor Plans With Slide-Outs

RV slide-outs, or “slides,” are one of the most popular features available on travel trailers.

As a matter of fact, many RVers won’t even consider a travel trailer unless it offers at least one slide-out.

So to understand why they’re so popular let’s take a look at some of their main benefits.

  • Increased Living Space : The main benefit of an RV slide-out is the additional living space it provides.
  • Improved Comfort : During longer trips, the added space from a slide-out can greatly improve comfort, especially in bad weather when stuck inside.
  • Better Versatility : Slide-outs provide more layout flexibility and allow for more creative and efficient use of space.
  • Accommodate More People : Slide-outs allow RVs to accommodate more people.
  • More Space for Features : With the added space from slide-outs, RV manufacturers can incorporate additional features into the trailer.
  • Better Separation and Privacy : Slide-outs can create a clearer distinction between different living areas, providing more privacy and separation.
  • More Residential Feel : Slide-outs give a trailer a more residential feel, due to the added space and wider interior they provide.
  • Better Views and More Natural Light : Windows are often incorporated into slide-outs, which offer better views and more natural light.
  • Higher Resale Value : Travel trailers with slide-outs often have a higher resale value, as many RV buyers are looking for the added space and functionality they provide.

Disadvantages of Travel Trailer Floor Plans With Slide-Outs

It’s not all good news for slide-outs though, as they do have some disadvantages.

So to help you understand their drawbacks, we’ve listed the main issues below.

  • Added Weight : Slide-outs add considerable weight to a travel trailer, often around 800 pounds, which decreases fuel efficiency and can require a larger tow vehicle.
  • Increased Maintenance : Slide-outs have moving parts and seals, which require regular maintenance to ensure they function properly and remain watertight.
  • Increased Potential for Leaks : The seals and mechanisms that keep slide-outs watertight can degrade over time, leading to potential leaks.
  • Mechanical Failures : Slide-outs rely on mechanisms to extend and retract. These mechanisms can malfunction leading to a stuck slide-out and potentially costly repairs.
  • Increased Setup Time : While it usually only takes a few minutes to extend or retract a slide-out, it does add to the overall setup and teardown time.
  • Can Limit Campsite Options : Some campsites are too narrow or have obstacles like trees that could prevent the extension of a slide-out.
  • Higher Purchase Price : Travel trailers with slide-outs tend to be more expensive than those without.
  • Potential for Debris Accumulation : Unless the trailer is outfitted with slide toppers, debris can collect on top of the slide-out, which must be cleared before retracting.
