Alon Livne’s original design sketches.
Beyonce opened her Mrs. Carter Show World Tour in Belgrade wearing her raciest costume yet –– a bodysuit by The Blonds celebrating the female form. “Our original inspiration came from Tamara de Lempicka’s paintings of the female body. It is also meant to give the illusion of being covered in crystallized honey,” describes Phillipe Blond. “To start, Phillipe hand-painted the suit on Beyonce to achieve the correct shading. Then the piece was hand embroidered with approximately 30,000 Swarovski crystals that took over 600 hours to apply,” explained the other half of the design duo, David Blond.
Designer David Koma brought the french horn to life when he designed this gold and black silk printed bodice inspired by the musical instrument. Playing up her curves, the designer added a slick laser-cut patent peplum for a sexier flair.

When we asked Vrettos Vrettakos to describe his costume designed for Beyoncé in three words, “All that glam!” is what he told ESSENCE.com. Live from Croatia, the diva hit the stage in his unforgettable cobalt blue catsuit adorned with Swarovski Elements while swooning the crowd with “Love on Top.”
While Vrettakos’ “Studio 54 glam” designs were the talk of the Twitterverse, he told us what really stuck with him while working with Queen Bey: “The most important experience for me was that the biggest artists of the planet can be the most humble characters with politeness and professionalism.”
The original Vrettos Vrettakos sketches.
Leave it to the Italians to design a full leather get-up for Bey from hat to heels. Designer Peter Dundas crafted a Nappa leather double breasted jacket with peak lapels, accessorized with a large brimmed felt hat and black stretch leather boots inspired by a “rock goddess” theme.

In the Netherlands, Queen Bey serves drama in a cat woman inspired look designed by Givenchy’s Riccardo Tisci. Her Kitty cap and bedazzled cape were complete with Stuart Weitzman military booties.
Givenchy’s original design sketches.
A close-up of Stuart Weitzman’s ankle booties paired with the Givenchy costume. The designer has customized footwear for Beyoncé’s past two tours, The Beyoncé Experience and I Am…Tour as well as other special performances.
“Creating footwear for Beyoncé’s shows has been one of my most inspiring projects. She and her entire team know exactly what they need, always focusing on the fashion and the function of the styles that will be worn,” said designer Stuart Weitzman.
“He [Stuart Weitzman] understands not only our needs artistically, but Beyoncé’s needs to perform comfortably on stage with each step she takes,” says Beyoncé’s stylist Ty Hunter.
The singer performed “Halo” in this virgin white, beaded beauty by designer’s Ralph & Russo. Military epaulets and a peplum gave this sweet look a little spice.

The design duo created a second nude number for Mrs. Carter, that wouldn’t be complete without Swarovski crystals covering her most important parts.

Beyonce kicked off her Mrs. Carter Show Tour in Serbia on Monday night (April 15), showing off a plethora of divalicious costumes. From shimmering bodysuits complete with gold breasts to thigh-high boots, here are our five favorite looks from the concert.
The Vrettos Vrettakos Catsuit
Beyonce glittered in a shimmering royal blue catsuit by Vrettos Vrettakos. Perhaps a stylish nod to daughter Blue Ivy, this glowing look may be our favorite look from the show.
The Blonds Bodysuit
Bey’ opened the show armored, in a gold warrior-like sequin-encrusted bodysuit by The Blonds embellished with golden breasts complete with a protruding nipple detail.
“When we were approached by Beyonce and her Creative Director Ty Hunter to collaborate on the Mrs. Carter World Tour we were thrilled,” The Blonds exclusively told Billboard. “We are all about the music when it comes to designing anything, so naturally that was our first question. When we learned it would be a compilation of ‘Naughty Girl,’ ‘Party’ and ‘Dance for You,’ the thought of celebrating the female form came to mind.” What better way to open a show than with a sinfully sexy bodysuit?
The Givenchy Suit and Matching Hat
From light to dark, Queen B can do no wrong. The singer brought her signature urban swagger to the stage in a black sequin-studded suit complete with mesh sleeves and zipper detail by Givenchy. The fierce look was accessorized with a matching cap with adorable animal ears.
The Emilio Pucci Ensemble
The “Love On Top” singer dazzled in graphic pastel colored shorts, a glittering lavender top, and thigh-high boots by Emilio Pucci.
“Dressing someone like Bey’ is beyond great,” said Pucci creative director Peter Dundas in an official statement released by the Italian fashion house, “She’s an incredible mix of beauty, artistry and just pure energy. Watching her rehearse before our midnight fittings made me want to run home and sketch. She’s a true icon and doing the costumes for her show was a privilege for me and for Pucci.”
The Ralph & Russo Peplum
Looking like a pure angel form the heavens, Bey’ stunned in a intricately hand-beaded white peplum one-piece by designers Ralph & Russo. Not entirely innocent, an added edge came in the form of military-inspired epaulets on the shoulders.

SEE BEYONCÉ'S COSTUMES ON STAGE HERE
While the finer details of the design are being kept firmly under wraps for now, a spokesperson for the brand confirmed that the "show-stopper of an outfit" will be in keeping with the label's spring/summer 2013 collection - influenced by supermodels of the Nineties.
"Beyonce chooses to wear a unique outfit created exclusively for her by Dean and Dan Caten, inspired by an item from the 2013 spring/summer Glamazon catwalk show," they confirmed.

Beyoncé’s Tour-Style Evolution: From Homemade Dresses to Givenchy Bodysuits
By Erika Harwood
On tour with Destiny’s Child (2000)
For years, Beyoncé’s mother Tina Lawson styled and created the onstage wardrobe worn for her daughter and Destiny’s Child, often making matching or coordinating costumes for the group.
Dangerously in Love Tour (2003)
Aside from Beyoncé’s mother, her stylist Ty Hunter has also been part of Beyoncé’s styling team since the days of Destiny’s Child. He helped create looks alongside Mrs. Lawson for Beyoncé’s first solo tour during the group’s hiatus.

The Beyoncé Experience (2007)
By her next solo tour, Lawson and Hunter were reaching out to designers to help create more glamorous, intricate costumes, like a silver gown that tore apart to become a sparkling mini-dress.
I Am . . . World Tour (2009)
French fashion designer Thierry Mugler came out of retirement to become the main costume designer for Beyoncé’s *I Am . . . * tour in 2009. Mugler also served as a creative adviser for the tour , handing out advice on everything from the set to the lights.
The Mrs. Carter Show World Tour (2013)
By the Mrs. Carter Show, Beyoncé’s came to rely heavily on high-end designers to create her performance looks, like this sparkling black leotard and hat by Givenchy.
The design duo known as The Blonds, who’ve also created costumes for Nicki Minaj, Britney Spears, and Miley Cyrus, spent over 600 hours to create this controversial, bedazzled bodysuit that featured jewel-encrusted breasts and nipples. Phillipe Blond told InStyle , “Our original inspiration was the female nudes painted by Tamara de Lempicka and the idea of being covered in crystallized honey which provided the color palette.”
Beyoncé’s preference for bodysuits had become more than clear by 2013. Here, she wears one of many more to come, a white Swarovski-encrusted design by Ralph & Russo .
On the Run Tour (2014)
This fishnet Versace look became a staple for her world tour with husband, Jay Z. According to Versace, the costume took around 200 hours to create .
She tapped Diesel to create multiple denim-appearing costumes, this one in her preferred silhouette. Of the fabric, Diesel’s Nicola Formichetti said , “Dancing in a full denim look is very difficult so we used a special denim that was patented and developed in our factories in Italy called Jogg Jeans. Jogg looks and is treated like denim but feels like sweatpants offering for whoever wears it optimal movement.”
A leotard in signature Versace print. Other designers who contributed to the tour included Alexander Wang and Michael Costello.
The Formation World Tour (2016)
Beyoncé’s most recent tour, The Formation World Tour went full luxe. She enlisted the help of stylist Marni Senofonte, who helped style the looks for Beyoncé’s visual album, Lemonade, to arrange the tour’s costumes. Here she wears a red, latex bodysuit by Atsuko Kudo with matching thigh-high boos and fur.
Balmain was tapped to create this flowing, ruffled bodysuit. The costume was made out of French lace and covered in pearls, crystals, and glass beads.
This custom Dsquared2 look includes not one, but two bodysuits : one made from crystal-encrusted fishnets and the other from beaded lace.
Beyoncé’s high-fashion tour evolution wouldn't be complete without a custom bodysuit from Gucci.

Beyoncé’s Wild Mrs. Carter Tour Book Looks
Singer poses in sexy onesies and fierce head gear in official concert pamphlet.
First Emilio Pucci released sketches of Beyoncé 's stage attire, then the singer debuted—not one, but two!— nipple costumes , and now we get a sneak peek at all the wild fashions in her official Mrs. Carter tour book .
PHOTOS: Beyonce's tour costumes
As we come to expect from Jay-Z 's wife, the looks in the concert program are extremely fierce. From Ancient Egypt to the Victorian period, the pop star seems to touch on iconic eras featuring powerful women. Bey, of course, being the pop music ruler of modern times. The diva even goes so far as to be covered from head-to-toe in pasty white body paint paired with a matching wig. Not that the outfits could ever take away from her flawless figure. Like her concert costumes , each look displays her incredible bod and allows for lots of leg—her signature style.
But the Grammy-winner doesn't stop at bejeweled bras and skimpy onesies. The diva tops her looks with outrageous head gear that make the royal wedding's fascinators look tame. In total, Beyonce sports at least nine different types of crowns. Would we expect anything less from Queen B?

Beyonce Shares Sexy New Performance Costumes For Mrs. Carter World Tour, New Setlist
A whole new show! After taking a two-month break from life on the road, Beyonce is back with the European leg of her Mrs. Carter World Tour , which kicked off in Glasgow, Scotland on Feb. 20. And fans across the pond were treated to an entirely restructured setlist and variety of new costumes.

After Bey, 32, dropped her surprise self-titled fifth studio album on Dec. 13, she added nine of her 14 new songs to her 20-song concert setlist, according to Idolator . Noticeably missing is the album’s female empowerment opener “Pretty Hurts” and the touching tribute to her daughter, “Blue.”
Adding to the setlist meant cutting classic tunes like the iconic “Run the World (Girls),” “End of Time,” and “Diva.” But diehard fans can rest assured that most of Queen Bey’s classics like “Single Ladies,” “Halo,” “If I Were a Boy,” and “Crazy in Love” remain on the lineup.

The new songs mean new outfits, and the curvaceous diva did not disappoint. In leather booty shorts and an embellished red flannel button up, Beyonce looked fierce with her hair down and wavy.

The sultry songstress also wore a sparkly one-piece while riding atop a set piece similar to the one she worked in her “Partition” music video. But the most noteworthy addition to the mother of 2-year-old Blue Ivy ‘s wardrobe was her chain-link dress with a leather bra and boy shorts underneath.

After a little more than a month on the road, Beyonce will finally wrap her Mrs. Carter World Tour Show on March 27 in Lisbon, Portugal.

Here's a Look Inside Beyonce's "Mrs. Carter Tour" Costumes
Everyone say "heyyy" Mrs. Carter.
Image via Complex Original
Beyoncé just began the European leg of "The Mrs. Carter Tour" and she completely changed up her costumes, courtesy of Donatella Versace , Riccardo Tisci and Vrettos Vrettakos . This week she has been releasing the exclusive sketches of her sparkly duds via Tumblr, showing how the concepts began. And you can see how the sketches were altered before the final product was made.
The first sketch she released was the Givenchy plaid shirt, embellished with black rhinestones, and leather booty shorts. And while her sparkly blue jumpsuit, the one she sang "Halo" in, didn't make the European tour, B replaced it with a very similar Vrettos Vrettakos polka-dot jumpsuit.
Versace designed the bulk of her costumes, including a sparkly white and silver mini dress, a cut-a-way mesh dress topped with Swarovski crystals and a leather racer-back top, and a white/silver crystal bustier with a matching jacket.
From the sketch of the jacket, we can see Donatella wanted it to say "Bitches Bow Down," but Beyoncé opted to leave off the "Bitches." While it would have been more badass, it pretty much goes without saying.

Take a peek inside Baddie Bey’s Mrs. Carter Show World Tour wardrobe. Brace yourself, people, this stuff is gorge! By: Metanoya Z. Webb Bey ripped this sequin Tom Ford jersey dress straight from the designer’s Fall 2014 London Fashion Week show. Gotta Have It - Top look familiar? Gucci sent a similar piece down the 2012 spring runway, and of course Mrs. Carter had to put in a custom order. She pairs hers with a fedora, high-waist trousers and fire-red pumps. (Photo: Kevin Mazur/WireImage for Parkwood Entertainment)
Heavenly - The superstar strikes a pose in an embellished Ralph & Russo one-piece boasting intricate beaded detail, worn with nude fishnets and gold lace-up booties. (Photo: Kevin Mazur/WireImage for Parkwood Entertainment)

Fringe-tastic - This tribal fringe look is screaming Emilio Pucci. And if you know Bey’s style like we do, then you know the gal loves to get decked in the designer’s festive threads. (Photo: Kevin Mazur/WireImage for Parkwood Entertainment)
Batgirl - Draped in a star-studded cape with a racy leotard underneath, Beyoncé works the stage giving fans a close look at her sick one-of-a-kind hat, complements of Givenchy’s Riccardo Tisci of course. (Photo: Kevin Mazur/WireImage for Parkwood Entertainment)
Black Bandit - A leather trench, cleavage and thigh-high boots are more than enough to send Beyoncé's super fans into a trance. Fluttering lashes and a tousled coif tucked under her Zorro-esque hat don’t do much to help their state of hypnosis. (Photo: Photopress / Splash News)

Blue B - Can we please all take a moment to digest this jaw-dropping, midnight blue cat suit. For starters, the color is amazing, plus the curve-hugging design. We’re loving this Vrettos Vrettakos/Dennis Kolpodinos number on her. (Photo: Photopress / Splash News)
Goddess Gorg - Humble artists never forgets their roots. Beyoncé pays homage to her Destiny’s Child days in this regal coral Alon Levine gown with daring front splits and a bejeweled neckline — typical DC. (Photo: Larry Busacca/PW/WireImage for Parkwood Entertainment)

Peter Dundas was put in charge of designing the outfits and told Vogue that he thought the singer looked "incredible" on her opening night.
"Doing Beyonce's costumes makes a designer want to run home and sketch," he told the publication. "She is one of the sweetest stars to work with. She knows what she wants and what will work for her, but she respects creativity."
"I thought she looked incredible in the costumes, but it's difficult to mess things up with her. She's one of those girls who look even more beautiful without make-up."
Peter is also creative director with Emilio Pucci and said he used his recent 2013-2014 winter collection as one of the starting points.

"For certain tableaux, there were specific needs in terms of colour and, of course, she has to be able to change in 59 seconds. That's even less than a quick change in a runway show."
Beyoncé Embraces Bold Balmain Shoulders in Fringe Jacket for ‘Cowboy Carter' Tour Bus Video in Japan
Beyoncé put a biker spin on the cowboy core trend in two posts shared to Instagram on Monday. The "Texas Hold ‘Em" singer shared a selection of photos and a short video clip posing with Japanese trucks. Beyoncé has been traveling in the country with her husband, Jay-Z , since last week.
Beyoncé's full leather look included a belted Balmain blazer featuring bold shoulders and fringe, as well as baggy wide-leg trousers by Stella McCartney. She accessorized with patent leather boots, completing her look with oversize sunnies, gold hoops and patent leather boots.
Stylist Shiona Turini dressed Beyoncé for the occasion. Turini, who also works as a costume designer, curated the singer's wardrobe for her "Renaissance" tour in 2023.
Hairdresser Neal Farinah styled Beyoncé's platinum blond tresses straightened, while makeup artist Rokael Lizama gave the singer black eyeliner and a pink-nude lip.
Beyoncé's Country Style Through The Years
Last week, Beyoncé blended Western dressing with sleek suiting while in Japan. The superstar songstress shared a new post to Instagram, wearing a khaki Ferragamo suit and trenchcoat from the label's spring 2023 line. Beyoncé added on square-toe boots, a turquoise bolo tie and wool cowboy hat, completing her look with silver statement earrings by Eight Other Reasons and a brown patent leather clutch, which was custom-made by Ferragamo.
Beyoncé's latest album, "Cowboy Carter," marks her first full-length foray into country music.
"This album has been over five years in the making," Beyoncé wrote on Instagram last month. "It was born out of an experience that I had years ago where I did not feel welcomed…and it was very clear that I wasn't. But, because of that experience, I did a deeper dive into the history of country music and studied our rich musical archive."
Beyoncé has always incorporated Western wear into her wardrobe, most notably with the release of her 2022 album, "Renaissance." In promotional images for her recent world tour, the pop star sported a mirrored cowboy hat akin to a disco ball. Meanwhile, at the 2024 Grammys, Beyoncé accessorized her Louis Vuitton skirt suit with a Stetson chapeau.

Call Me Country: Beyoncé and Nashville’s Renaissance: What Record Did Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter Break?
By Debangshu Nath
The new documentary Call Me Country: Beyoncé and Nashville’s Renaissance is currently streaming on Max worldwide. Created by CNN FlashDocs, this project closely looks at how country music has evolved because of the works of artists such as Lil Nas X and Beyoncé. In addition, this project delves into Nashville’s country scene, which is currently witnessing a renaissance due to the efforts of Black musicians.
Beyoncé’s new album, Cowboy Carter, is part of a planned trilogy of albums, which began with Renaissance in 2022. Not only is she regarded as one of the most successful artists of this generation, but she solidified her legacy when her new album, right after its release, broke the Spotify record for the most streamed album in a single day. Before Cowboy Carter’s release, her single “Texas Hold ‘Em” topped both the Hot Country Songs and Hot 100 charts. This was a massive achievement because never before has a black artist’s country song managed to accomplish this feat.
According to Rotten Tomatoes , the synopsis of Call Me Country: Beyoncé and Nashville’s Renaissance reads, “Beyoncé’s highly anticipated album “Cowboy Carter,” released March 29, arrived during a revolution within country music as the latest arena of the culture wars in America. Some in the industry are welcoming more diverse artists, while others stick to a much narrower view of a genre that predominately centers around straight, white men.”
It further reads, “CALL ME COUNTRY: BEYONCÉ & NASHVILLE’S RENAISSANCE examines the impact of how high-profile artists like Lil Nas X and Beyoncé are challenging the country music status quo and how Black artists in Nashville have been laying the foundation for this transformation for some time.”
How many songs does Cowboy Carter have?
Beyoncé’s eighth full-length album, Cowboy Carter, came out on March 29, 2024. The singer/songwriter experimented with various genres on this album, such as hip-hop, trap, psychedelic funk, blues, rock and roll, opera, pop, and more. Interestingly, fans and critics have predominantly labeled it as a country album.
In total, Cowboy Carter consists of 27 songs. Furthermore, it is more than 78 minutes long. Below are the track listings for the album.
- “Ameriican Requiem”
- “Blackbiird” (with Brittney Spencer, Reyna Roberts, Tanner Adell, and Tiera Kennedy)
- “16 Carriages”
- “Protector” (with Rumi Carter)
- “Smoke Hour / Willie Nelson” (with Willie Nelson)
- “Texas Hold ‘Em”
- “Bodyguard”
- “Dolly P” (with Dolly Parton)
- “Spaghettii” (with Linda Martell and Shaboozey)
- “Alliigator Tears”
- “Smoke Hour II” (with Willie Nelson)
- “Just for Fun” (with Willie Jones)
- “II Most Wanted” (with Miley Cyrus)
- “Levii’s Jeans” (with Post Malone)
- “The Linda Martell Show” (with Linda Martell)
- “Oh Louisiana”
- “Desert Eagle”
- “Riiverdance”
- “II Hands II Heaven”
- “Tyrant” (with Dolly Parton)
- “Sweet / Honey / Buckiin’ ” (with Shaboozey)
Two of the above tracks are covers of the Beatles’ “Blackbird” and Dolly Parton’s “Jolene”. Interestingly, Parton even provided vocals on the album’s ninth song, Dolly P. Call Me Country: Beyoncé and Nashville’s Renaissance featured interviews with musicians like Rhiannon Giddens (who played banjo on “Texas Hold ‘Em”), John and T.J. Osborne, Aaron Vance, Denitia and Rissi Palmer. In addition, culture critics and music journalists such as Keith Hill, Chris Molanphy, Larisha Paul, Touré, and Kyle Coroneos appeared in the documentary.
What is the inspiration behind Beyoncé’s new album?
Before the release of Cowboy Carter, Beyoncé’s team put out a press release that stated that the album was inspired by several elements of Southern and Western culture. These include the Rodeo, films, and legendary stories of original cowboys who lived in the West. In the same press release, the American singer said she feels immense joy creating music without a rulebook. In the era of technological advancements and artificial intelligence, she wanted to build a deeper connection with authenticity. Additionally, she stated that she kept some songs unfiltered and was inclined towards folk music.
Beyoncé said, “The joy of creating music is that there are no rules. The more I see the world evolving the more I felt a deeper connection to purity. With artificial intelligence and digital filters and programming, I wanted to go back to real instruments, and I used very old ones.”
She further stated, “I didn’t want some layers of instruments like strings, especially guitars, and organs perfectly in tune. I kept some songs raw and leaned into folk. All the sounds were so organic and human, everyday things like the wind, snaps and even the sound of birds and chickens, the sounds of nature.”
Beyoncé’s full name is Beyoncé Giselle Knowles-Carter. Throughout her illustrious career, she has sold over 200 million records worldwide. She has won a record 32 Grammy Awards, 26 MTV Video Music Awards, 35 BET Awards, 17 Soul Train Music Awards, and 24 NAACP Image Awards. Since 2008, she has been married to rapper Jay-Z, with whom she has three children. Furthermore, their firstborn, Blue Ivy Carter, is also a singer.
Debangshu watched a couple of Scorsese, Tarantino and Coppola films in seventh grade and developed an unhealthy obsession with criminals, psychopaths and serial killers. Fueled by his passion for Death, Thrash and Black Metal, he finds solace in writing about some of the most deranged people and incidents in human history.
