Memories that last forever

4.8/5 Rating on Google | 5/5 Stars on Trip Advisor

“It was an amazing once-in-a-lifetime experience. The views from the Helicopters were spectacular. The landing and walking around on the glacier was unforgettable. The pilots did an excellent job of pointing out the wildlife and sights. We have pictures and memories as a family that we will look at and talk about for the rest of our life. “

“My husband and I flew with Alpine Air up to Punch Bowl Glacier for a once-in-a-lifetime dog sled experience… If you want a chance to experience some breathtaking views, meet some awesome dogs, and see what it feels like to really be up in the mountains, this IS for you! You won’t experience a smoother ride or a more friendly group of people!”

“The scenery and skies were amazing and constantly changing. We landed on a glacier and it was snowing lightly. We drank from a melted glacial pool and it was delicious. Once in a lifetime opportunity with incredible photo ops as well. We think of this experience every weekend when we enjoy our coffee in the Alpine Air Alaska mugs.”

Pilot and staff are really good

My husband and I had a fantastic experience. After the helicopter ride, it was all that we could talk about the rest of the day and wonderful highlight to our Alaska trip. Our pilot Martin was funny, personable and was able to spot several wildlife from the air. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this to anyone looking for an unforgettable adventure.

This experience was very, very exciting! It was a first helicopter ride and needless to say, landing on top of a glacier was too. I was a bit apprehensive as to the size of the helicopter but it was piloted by a very good pilot, Thomas. He was very knowledgeable about the history of the glaciers, which was an added plus. I highly recommend this adventure!

John our pilot and the staff at the counter were exceptional. A fantastic experience for each of us!! Will be back with others soon !! Thank you so much!!

Fantastic....First time for the three of us and we all loved every minute of the flight.

Bucketlist experience.

See the Chugach Range from the air as you fly past snow capped mountain peaks and over braided river valleys before landing on over 300 feet of ancient glacial ice! Experience majestic blue pools, swirling moulins, deep crevasses and dramatic ice formations as you step out of your helicopter; onto the icy surface of the Knik Glacier.

The mighty Knik, one of the largest glaciers left in south central Alaska, is twenty-six miles in length and 6 miles across at its toe.

In addition to spotting wildlife from the air, you’ll have an eagle’s eye view of towering waterfalls, glacial iceberg-filled lakes and the untouched wilderness of the Last Frontier!

What To Expect in Summer

As the snow melts and exposes blue glacial ice our expert pilots land your helicopter on the glacier surface where you’ll get to experience brilliant blue melt pools & deep crevasses. In the summer months you can choose to polar plunge into one of these giant pools.

What To Expect in Winter

Experience a winter wonderland of giant frozen icebergs, ice caves and frozen waterfalls. The surface of the glacier may not be safe to land on due to snow depth. Instead landing may be at the terminus of the glacier near an ice wall, on the shoreline of a frozen iceberg filled lake, or in the gorge to explore ice caves.. Learn to Fly Helicopters in Anchorage, Alaska

Ronbinson helicopter touched down next to beautiful Alaskan lake with snowy mountains and glacier in the background.

Alyeska is the Aleut word for Alaska, meaning “great land”. We believe there’s no better way to experience this great land than from the air, and we’re proud to share that with our students. Together with our sister company Alpine Air Alaska , which offers year-round helicopter tours and charters, and our certified Robinson maintenance facility, we are committed to providing the highest level of excellence in all areas of helicopter instruction and services.

School History

In 2004, we opened our doors as the only FAA-approved helicopter flight school in the state. Based in Anchorage at Merrill FIeld Airport, we offer year-round flight instruction in a state-of-the-art hangar and Robinson Helicopters Certified maintenance center built in 2014.

Our Location

Alyeska Helicopters is located in south-central Alaska at the foothills of the Chugach Mountains. Alaska’s conditions can be rugged, and pilots who fly in this region are among the most qualified in the nation. In this unique environment our students develop extra skills in rough terrain and superior knowledge of mountains and adverse weather conditions – and the scenery is always breathtaking. Learn here, fly anywhere.

Institutional Philosophy

Our goal is to deliver professional instruction tailored for the individual needs of our students. We strive to maintain the highest level of training and ensure each student carries forth an uncompromised dedication to safety. We are committed to producing highly competent, well-trained pilots for personal leisure or the competitive job market.
