Tattoo-Fans können sich während der „Wildcat Tattoo Cruise“ auf Fantasy und Realistic-Tattoos von Boris Laslo freuen, sich Letterings und Portraits von Benjamin Laukis stechen lassen und knallige Pop-Art-Tattoos von Dave Paulo bestaunen. Photorealistic-Tattoos gibt es bei Remis Cizauskas. Den Kontrast dazu stellen die Black- Abstract-Realism von Natalie Nox sowie die Floralen Motive von Moni Scharnagl dar. Moderator der „Wildcat Tattoo Cruise“ ist kein anderer als „Tattoo“ Krause, bekanntaus „Tattoo Around the World“, „Krause hilft“ und „Berlin – Tag & Nacht“. Genauso vielseitig und abwechslungsreich wie die internationalen Tattoo-Künstler, die gemeinsam mit Randy Engelhard für Urlaubserinnerungen sorgen werden, die im wahrsten Sinne des Wortes „unter die Haut gehen“, sind auch die weiteren Musik-Acts. Unterstützt werden „The BossHoss“ von dem kanadischen Hardcore-Brett „Comeback Kid“, die zusammen mit „Deez Nuts“ und den Crossover-Pionieren von „Dog Eat Dog“ die Poolbühne zum Springen bringen werden. TUI Cruises Featuring Tattoo Parlor Aboard the Mein Schiff 2

TUI Cruises is featuring tattoo artist Chris Krafft and colleagues from B. Liberty Tattoo in Hamburg aboard Mein Schiff 2 throughout May.

TUI said that maritime symbols, such as anchors and compasses were popular, but also are so-called cover ups, where old tattoos are replaced with new ones.

“Tattooing aboard a cruise ship is a very special challenge,” commented Krafft in a prepared statement. “If it rocks, a steady hand is a must. And in case of doubt, I take a break. A tattoo is memory for life.”

After a test phase on Mein Schiff 2, TUI will decide whether to introduce the tattoo parlor across the fleet.

“The likelihood is high,” said Sven Irmer, product development manager. “The parlor is fully booked every day; the response has been overwhelming.”

The cost of a tattoo is calculated according to the effort and starts at 100 euros.

Heavy metal, punk rock and tattoos — welcome to the ‘wildcat’ cruise

For anyone who’s ever watched one of Jane McDonald’s popular cruising programmes and thought a spell on the high seas could be improved with heavy metal, punk rock and tattoos, a German liner thinks it has the answer.

In a departure from its usual cargo of ageing holidaymakers bound for the Canary Islands, the cruiseliner Mein Schiff 4 is planning a gathering of tattoo artists and punk bands. For five days next May, sedate chitchat, clinking cutlery and muzak will give way to the whirring of needles, gasps of pain and live gigs from a dozen hardcore acts.

The 2019-built TUI Mein Schiff 2 cruise ship is owned by TUI Cruises and has two sisterships - Mein Schiff 1 (2018) and Mein Schiff 7 (2023). Vessels' previously designated names were "Mein Schiff 7" and "Mein Schiff 8", but as the old namesakes went to Marella Cruises UK (within TUI Group), the newbuilds took their names.

The vessel (IMO number 9783576) is currently Malta- flagged (MMSI 248956000) and registered in Valletta .

History - construction and ownership

TUI Cruises is a UK-based joint venture cruise company (50-50) of TUI Group (British-German travel and tourism corporation) and RCCL-Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd (USA-based passenger shipping company). TUI started cruise shipping operations in 2009, targeting predominantly the German-speaking market with a premium travel vacation product. German and English are the main onboard languages on all TUI Schiffs (ships). TUI's sister-brands are Marella Cruises UK and Hapag-Lloyd-Cruises .

TUI's new Mein Schiff 2 took the name of the old Schiff 2 (launched in 1997). In 2018, the old Schiff 2 was sold to "Marella Cruises" (TUI's UK brand line). Initially was announced that in March 2019, the old vessel will be transferred to Marella Cruises (fka Thomson) and operated as Marella Explorer 2 . However, in March 2018, TUI announced that the old Schiff 2 stays in the fleet - under the name Schiff Herz .

TUI Mein Schiff 2 cruise deals are ticket-price inclusive of:

Decks and Cabins

TUI Schiff 2 staterooms (1447 total) provide max passenger capacity 2534 (2894 lower beds). Over 80% of all cabins are outside. All suites and family cabins have Xbox360 video gaming consoles. The largest cabins are the 2-deck Himmel-Meer Suites with private rooftop terraces. For families are designed the new comfort rooms "Verandah Deluxe at home". There are also Spa Balcony cabins with exclusive spa facilities access.

All Schiff 2 staterooms offer as standard amenities 2 single beds (1 double bed), bedside cabinets (with drawers and reading lamp), sofabed (or 1-2 Pullman beds), smart HDTV (satellite reception, infotainment system with on-demand movies, Internet, ship info channel), direct dial phone, wardrobe, electronic safe box (in the closet), minibar, Nespresso coffee machine (2 capsules are included per day), water carafe with glasses, mirrored dressing table (writing desk) with chair, en-suite bathroom (WC, shower, single-sink vanity, hairdryer, bathrobes, slippers, bath products - shower gel, shampoo, conditioner), individually controlled air-conditioning, 24-hour room service.

The boat has 16 decks , of which 14 are passenger accessible and 10 with cabins.

Shipboard dining options - Food and Drinks

The food in the large "Anckelmannsplatz" buffet restaurant is all included in the fare. Mein Schiff 2 also boasts a bakery offering freshly prepared tarts or paninis for free. The Atlantic restaurant is divided into 3 themed restaurants and guests may choose to eat Asian, Mediterranean food or 5-course meals (all also included). Gosch Sylt offers fish, and another Bistro - smaller snacks. For an additional charge, enjoy the Hanami - exquisite Japanese restaurant, visit the Richards Restaurant or the Surf und Turf Steakhouse.

The cruise ship's Casino is open only during sea days. In 2018, TUI signed a partnership deal with "Merkur Casino Mare" (part of Gauselmann Group) for the onboard gambling on Schiff 1 (since 2018), Schiff 2 (since 2019) and Schiff 3 (since 2021). The ship Casino features 6x electronic roulettes plus 14x other Merkur gaming machines, and a separate gambling lounge with 4x M-Box Buzzer (multi-gaming machines) and a blackjack table for live gaming. For 2020, Gauselmann AG reported revenue EUR 2,56 billion (~USD 3B / ~GBP 2,2B). Since 2012, Gauselmann owns the British company Praesepe Ltd (now Merkur Casino UK) which owns the Cashino brand (street gambling arcade chain).

All newbuild TUI cruise vessels have energy efficient solutions and environmentally friendly power plants that reduce emissions by 30% in comparison to other ships of similar size. Designers of the new TUI liners are Wilson Butler Architects, together with CM Design and Tillberg Design. Fun fact is, that each ship in this new series brings nearly 5000 person-years labour to the Turku shipyard. Each ship's construction engages 800 out of all 1400 workers at the shipbuilding yard. The percentage of German travellers on board TUI ships is around 80%.

The onboard powerplant is based on four Wartsila marine diesel engines (total output 48 MW), while the propulsion system is based on azimuth thrusters (total power output 28 MW).

The vessel's physical construction started with the keel-laying ceremony (hull number TUI NB-1393) held on October 5, 2017, at Meyer Werf's Turku shipyard . With the event officially started the hull's assembly. The ceremony was attended by Wybcke Meier and Frank Kuhlmann (TUI Cruises CEOs).

Schiff 2 was the 6th TUI liner built by Meyer Turku (delivered on January 22, 2019) with sistership Mein Schiff 1 (April 2018). When compared to the old version (Schiffs 3-4-5-6), the new Schiff 2 is 20 m longer (315 m / 295 m), 12000 GT tons heavier ( 11500 tons / 99500 tons) and have passenger capacity 2894.

On June 1, 2018, the vessel was floated out from the drydock hall. On September 22 was announced liner's godmother - Carolin Niemczyk (1990-born German singer). The christening ceremony is planned for February 9 (2019) to be held in Lisbon Portugal . On January 22 starts the repositioning cruise from at Kiel to Hamburg (VIP voyage for travel industry representatives only). The "inaugural cruise" (official maiden voyage for general guests) left Bremerhaven on January 29 and included the naming ceremony in Lisbon (Feb 9).

The liner's first Master was Captain Kjell Holm.

At the beginning of the maiden season, Schiff 2 was loaded with oak barrels full of a limited edition of Saltwater’s Gin (a total of 225 L / 59 US gallons). The premium liquor was delivered from Salzburg (Austria) and will travel over 37,000 km / 23,000 miles (January 29 through May 23) when the barrels will be offloaded in Civitavecchia-Rome and transported to Salzburg for bottling. Passengers may purchase the limited edition bottles on the cruise liner after June 5 (2019).

TUI Schiff 2 refurbishments review

The ship's first drydock refurbishment was in 2024 (January 1-14) conducted in Port Rashid (Dubai UAE) .

The 2-week drydocking project was for general maintenance works (technical overhaul, regular class inspections, hull cleaning/repainting), renovations of public spaces, as well as for installing shore power connectivity .

Popular TUI cruise line, Marella Cruises, has announced winter and summer 2025 itineraries to “beautiful” destinations

Marella Cruises has announced it will homeport Marella Discovery 2 out of Malaga, Spain from 7 November 2024 for a series of winter sailings and then homeport from Tenerife and Gran Canaria from December 2024 to March 2025 where it will port in Limassol, Cyprus for summer 2025. These itineraries will be on sale from 23 May 2024 and customers can choose from a variety of UK airports to Malaga, Gran Canaria, Tenerife and Cyprus.

The homeport of Malaga, Spain will offer sailings on two itineraries; Spanish Flavours, departing on the 7 November 2024, which calls at Malaga, Palma de Mallorca, Barcelona, Valencia, Cartegena, Gibraltar and porting in Malaga. Then there is the Sights and Delights itinerary which departs from the 14 November 2024 and visit Malaga, Lisbon, Portugal, Cadiz, Casablanca, Cartagena, Motril and Malaga, Spain.

The new homeport for Marella Discovery 2 from Tenerife will also offer sailings on two new itineraries including Winter Escape, departing on the 28 November 2024 calling at Malaga, Gibraltar, Cadiz, Gran Canaria and Tenerife, and the Sail into Spring itinerary departing on the 24 March 2025 which will visit, Gran Canaria, Tenerife, Cartagena, Malta and Limassol, Cyprus.In addition, Marella Cruises will be offering guests more choice, with cruise and stay options for the winter season. There will be 100 hotels to choose from across destinations including Malaga, Gran Canaria, Tenerife, and Cyprus. The cruise and stay programme provides customers with the chance to experience life at sea along with a stay at a hotel, which can be tagged on either before or after a cruise.

Man who ‘identifies’ as the Joker from Batman ‘tried to strangle girlfriend to death’

Anthony Yewman allegedly tried to ‘squeeze the life out of’ his ex-girlfriend after she ended their ‘on-off’ relationship

An obsessed ex-boyfriend who “identifies” as the Joker from Batman tried to murder his girlfriend by choking her twice after she “rejected” him, a court has heard.

Anthony Yewman, 45, who identified with the infamous film villain, is accused of trying to “squeeze the life out of” Jenny Dalton after she threatened to leave him.

Prosecutors allege he left Ms Dalton “helpless, vulnerable and scared” after choking her until she passed out, before seeing her wake up and telling her he would “finish you off” and then kill himself with his a knife.

He then in a “very determined” attempt at strangulation attacked her again, however Ms Dalton was saved as her daughter banged on the door on August 30 last year.

Yewman, who has a number of face and hand tattoos, denies attempted murder as well as alternative charges of GBH with intent and intentional strangulation.

‘He identified with the Joker and calls her Harley Quinn’

Opening the trial on Wednesday at Southampton Crown Court, Prosecutor Matthew Farmer said they had been in an “on-off relationship” for two years in which there were “numerous break ups”.

“She was clearly in love with him and he was obsessed by her,” he said.

In attempts to win her back, the court heard he would gift her flowers, or spray-paint the wall in her garden saying: ‘I’m sorry I love you, you’re my soul mate’.

On another occasion, he used chalk to write ‘met my soulmate when met you’ and referred to her as having his surname.

Detailing Yewman’s association to the comic book villain, Mr Farmer added: “After he was arrested he wrote letters proclaiming his love.

“He refers to himself as the Joker from Batman.

“He identified with the Joker and calls her Harley Quinn.

“It was a constant theme between them, he was the Joker and she was Harley Quinn.”

‘He became more and more obsessive’

In May 2023, Ms Dalton had to call the police because Yewman had ‘refused to leave the garden’ of her property in Fordingbridge, Hants.

Mr Farmer said: “We suggest that he became more and more obsessive about her.”

The following month, in June, she went to a women’s refuge to “get away” from Yewman before she was “persuaded” by him to leave.

Mr Farmer said Yewman had previously met her at the airport with flowers and managed to find her at the exact address of the refuge in Seaford, East Sussex.

The court heard he left flowers for her and was seen outside over a number of days.

“Mr Yewman turned up at the refuge over a period of days and eventually go her to come away with him, thinking he was not going to press their relationship anymore,” he said.

The couple went back to Ms Dalton’s address just two days before the eventual attack.

“It was made plain he was her ex-partner,” Mr Farmer added.

“She told him again that their on-off relationship was off and she wanted to leave him.

“He could not accept what he was hearing and that’s when he attacked her, strangling her so severely she was left unconscious on her bedroom floor.”

‘I’ll finish you off and then I’ll do myself’

The court heard she woke up to Yewman blowing into her face trying to resuscitate her before he walked over to a mirror and started cutting his neck.

When she objected he looked at her and said: “Oh you’re alive.

“I’ll finish you off and then I’ll do myself.”

Ms Dalton was “helpless, vulnerable and scared” after the first attack.

Describing the second, Mr Farmer continued: “Lifting her onto the bed, placing both hands on her neck and trying with all his might to squeeze the life out of her.

“It was a very determined attempt - this was an attempt to kill.

“She thought she was going to die.”

The court heard it was only through the shouting of her 21 year old daughter, Juliette, that Yewman “desisted”.

“This saved her life and he released the grip,” he added.

He said she was taken to hospital after “mercifully surviving the attack” but remains “severely traumatised”.

Ms Dalton’s daughter called the police and he was arrested.

The week-long trial continues.
