Review: Mophie's 3-in-1 MagSafe Charger is Great for Travel

Mophie in January introduced the 3-in-1 MagSafe Travel Charger , an official MagSafe accessory that directly competes with Apple's ‌MagSafe‌ Duo. Unlike the ‌MagSafe‌ Duo, Mophie's Travel Charger can charge three devices at once rather than two, plus it comes with an included power adapter, USB-C cable, and carrying case.

When unfolded, it's just over three inches wide and 12 inches long, and when folded up, it's about an inch and a half thick and about three and a half inches wide. The carrying case that it goes into is about seven inches long and four and a half inches wide, so when in the case, it is a good bit larger. You can carry it without the case if you want, but the case is handy to have for the cable and the power adapter.

Bottom Line

If you travel a lot and hate dealing with cables, Mophie's 3-in-1 Travel Charger is convenient, and it's also the best portable ‌MagSafe‌ charger on the market. I much prefer it to Apple's own ‌MagSafe‌ Duo because it has an extra charging spot and comes with the charging cable and USB-C power adapter that I need to charge at full speed.

It's not the best looking charger, but it's perfectly serviceable and worked well in my testing. On the downside, it's expensive at $150, but it is priced competitively with other multi-device ‌MagSafe‌ charging solutions that are on the market and worth considering for those who have a need that it meets.

The 3-in-1 Travel Charger from Mophie is an Apple exclusive and can be purchased on Apple's website for $150.

This really is an expensive solution to a problem that only exists because people create it for themselves because they just have to use wireless charging. A wall charger that fits multiple cables takes up less than a third in volume, which is what I would really care about when travelling. Stationary on a desk is a different story.

A Foldable Design Full of Magnets

I love a tidy, well-organized tech pouch with the essential cables and dongles I need when I travel. Despite my irregular traveling schedule, I’ve spent a lot of time getting that pouch to be as small as possible. That’s why I glammed onto Apple’s 2-in-1 MagSafe Duo pretty soon after it was released at the end of 2020. It was a vibe.

Unfortunately, Apple’s solution uses a Lightning cable and doesn’t fast-charge an Apple Watch, despite charging an iPhone at 15W. The Duo has been discontinued and was getting long in the tooth even before that. That’s why this 3-in-1 Travel Charger from Mophie is tempting.

Mophie’s travel charger is thicker than the MagSafe Duo but is more modern in every other case. It will fast charge an Apple Watch—the (2023) distinction—and uses a USB-C port for power. Its MagSafe charger accommodates iPhone camera bumps, for another thing.

At a superficial level, Mophie’s charger is compact enough and doesn’t have any significant flaws. But in use, there are several things to nitpick.

For example, the exterior fabric of the Mophie Travel Charger is soft to the touch, which is nice, but also attracts debris. After laying it down on a seemingly clean nightstand, I noticed pieces of dust stuck to it when I rolled it back up. It wasn’t super easy to brush clean, either.

I could imagine setting the charger down on a hotel nightstand and worse items than dust being attached to the back of it. I wonder about the long-term viability of the fabric backing material.

When folded, the charger stays put with strategically placed magnets. It’s how these types of products roll. For detail-oriented people, be aware that the little end flap sticks up and flops around. I couldn’t get it to lay flat. It didn’t impair functionality, but it somehow drew my attention every time I looked at the product, which I found annoying.

Does the Mophie 3-in-1 Travel Charger Work Well?

The point of this device is for travel. It’s right there in the name. So it’s nice that the charger comes with a small pouch it tucks into, along with the USB-C cable and 30W power adapter. There’s even room for an AirTag and an extra cable or two, so if you’re a minimalist, this Mophie pouch could be the only bag of accessories you might need. I’m thinking of my wife here, who only brings a watch charger, Lightning cable, and a two-port power adapter.

For me, however, the charger's case is just a little too small to pack all the other items into. The pouch is also too big to fit in the Aer Slim Pouch I use for my cables and adapter. That’s fine because I also didn’t care for the felt-like material the Mophie case is made out of. It seems destined to be destroyed by some medium to heavy travel eventually.

The Mophie 3-in-1 Travel Charger itself did fit into my Aer case just fine and was able to take the place of the MagSafe Duo without skipping a beat.

The three charging spots are only meant to lay flat on a table. I did find that it could be bent and propped up in a way that could display StandBy mode if you really want it.

My biggest gripe with the unit is that it’s a little too much in most ways. What I mean is that the Qi spot, meant for AirPods, went unused most of the time. A third of the surface area could have been eliminated. My best guess is that the capability was only there to differentiate from Apple’s official travel charger. If the Qi spot wasn't there, the unit could also have been less expensive, presumably.

If you need all three spots at once, they work great. I’m just not sure all three are really critical to most people’s needs, though.

Price and Availability

The Mophie 3-in-1 Travel Charger (2023) is available from Apple directly, among its other retail locations.

A previous version of this charger had intermittent charging problems in June 2023, which needed to be resolved with a firmware update kit from the company. That appears to have fixed the problem for existing owners, but I would be wary of purchasing an older version of this product.

I didn’t notice any charging issues, but any intermittent issues will be hard to detect without prolonged use.

Should You Buy Mophie 3-in-1 Travel Charger (2023)?

I like the form factor here for a travel charger. The Mophie 3-in-1 Travel Charger is relatively compact for a backpack or accessory pouch. It takes the problem of too many unwieldy cables and adapters and melds them together.

The solution, however, is an expensive one. No name-brand solutions on Amazon solve this same issue for well under $100. Apple’s solution retailed for $129 when new. Mophie’s $149 price tag pushes the envelope for how much value this product ultimately delivers.

For anyone on the road frequently, I do think it will be a time saver and eliminate charging-related headaches. For someone only making occasional trips, cheaper options are probably worth considering first.

Modern travel involves a nest of cables and chargers coming along with you to keep your devices topped up during your trip, so the thought of a single charger and cable doing it all sounds like the stuff of dreams. Enter the Mophie 3-in-1 travel charger with MagSafe.

Despite its cumbersome name, for Apple fans, it can dramatically reduce your packing drama with everything you need fitting in the included felt travel bag with spaces for the also included 30W power adapter that Apple never gave you, the USB-C to USB-C cable, and of course, the diminutive tri-fold charger itself. What’s the catch? The $149 price tag. 

It’s not a bad value when you factor in what you are getting, but it’s hard not to have a little sticker shock. Read on and see if the convenience and build quality of the Mophie 3-in-1 travel charger with MagSafe can win you over.

Pricing is the toughest pill to swallow when considering the Mophie 3-in-1 travel charger with MagSafe — $149 seems steep. However, for that price, you are getting a device that wirelessly charges your iPhone , Apple Watch and AirPods , and includes a 30W USB-C PD wall adapter, a USB-C to USB-C cable, and a travel case to hold it all.

When you compare it to Apple’s own $130 MagSafe Duo, which only charges your Apple Watch and one other Apple device (and doesn’t come with a power adapter), Mophies’ option starts to sound more affordable. 

It would be great if it were less expensive, but relative to other options on the market, the Mophie 3-in-1 travel charger with MagSafe is reasonably priced. And what you are paying for is convenience and reliability as Mophie is using genuine Apple parts for the MagSafe charger for the iPhone and the Apple Watch, ensuring fast charging speeds.

I’ll get to the nifty tri-fold design of the 3-in-1 travel charger itself in a moment, but when you first open the package, you’re greeted with a couple of extra goodies. It feels like a treat in the modern era of minimal packaging that typically just contains your device and a cable.

The first of these is a felt travel pouch in Mophie’s traditional heathered grey that is held shut with an elastic band that snaps around a button. A small stitched faux leather patch with the Mophie logo is the only other detail on the simple pouch. Flipping it open reveals two dividers that create dedicated spots for the cable, power adapter and travel charger. It’s nothing fancy, but it has a nice clean look and makes it easy to keep track of everything you need to keep your Apple devices topped up on a trip.

We’ll look at the charging speeds delivered by the nondescript black 30W USB-C power adapter in the next section, but if you haven’t picked up a fast charger for your iPhone 12 or iPhone 13 yet, this is an added bonus for you as it can deliver full fast charging with their included USB-C to lightning cable. 

The final “bonus” item is the 1m (~3ft.) USB-C to USB-C cable. Again it’s nothing notable with just the Mophie logo on the ends to identify it. A braided cable would give it more of a premium feel, but I’ve yet to have a Mophie cable fail me, so despite the basic look, it should hold up well.

Now for the main event; the 3-in-1 travel charger with MagSafe is remarkably small on its own, roughly 3.1 x 3.1 x 0.9 inches. Mophie’s aesthetic is consistent with a heathered grey finish to the fabric exterior, although it’s slightly lighter than the travel case — and has the dimpled texture common to fabric-wrapped devices. If you’re already a Mophie fan, you’re likely familiar with the understated look. It would be nice to have at least one colorful option available, but that’s just not in the cards with Mophie.

The tri-fold charger is held shut with magnets and you pop it open by pulling on the faux leather tab with the Mophie logo. Unfurled, it’s 11.7 x 3.1 x 0.5 inches, so it should easily fit on even the smallest of bedside tables. The inside is a bit of a disappointment compared to that stylish exterior with plain-black plastic dominating most of it, including the indented charger for your AirPods. The MagSafe charger for the iPhone in the middle and the magnetic charger for the Apple Watch are the traditional white. It all seems durable enough, and it doesn’t feel like terrible cheap plastic, but laid out this way, it doesn’t look like a $150 product either.

Once you get your devices on it, things look up; the official Apple MagSafe charger will grab ahold of your iPhone and make sure it doesn’t slip off. The Apple Watch charger flips up for Nightstand Mode, allowing you to easily glance at the time. While the assumption is that you will have AirPods or AirPods Pro , the final spot is a basic Qi charger, so it will work with almost any wireless earbuds that support wireless charging. 

While things get a little utilitarian on the inside, overall I like the design of the Mophie 3-in-1 travel charger. It folds down to an easily packable size and it looks good when you’re traveling with it. Once all of your devices are on it, just go ahead and flip it shut when you aren’t using it and you’ll never really face that plastic interior.

As I already mentioned, Mophie is using genuine Apple parts for the MagSafe charger and the Apple Watch charger, this is also why they are white rather than black like the rest of the interior. The upside of this is that you get the full 15W fast wireless charging for your iPhone (12W for iPhone 12 mini and iPhone 13 mini) instead of the 10W many non-Apple Qi chargers deliver. 

The Apple Watch and AirPods charging is limited to 5W, but given the smaller batteries in those devices, it still tops them up pretty quickly.

All three devices are able to charge simultaneously, so you just need to plug in the 30W adapter to the USB-C port that is housed in the section for the Apple Watch charger and you are all set. 

Bottom line 

While there are more affordable 3-in-1 wireless chargers for use in your home, I haven’t seen anything that challenges the Mophie 3-in-1 travel charger with MagSafe when it comes to charging all of your mobile Apple devices on a trip. The $149 price tag is justified with its durable build, stylish exterior, and most importantly, pares down your effects to a  single charger and cable when you pack.

If you are all in on the Apple mobile ecosystem with an iPhone, Apple Watch and AirPods, this is the best solution out there right now to keep them all charged up when you travel.

Mophie’s 3-in-1 Travel Charger Is the Last Charger I’ll Ever Need

Enough with the separate cables and chargers for your iPhone, AirPods, and Apple Watch. This foldable charger is all you need.

Traveling with electronics is annoying, especially if you’re dragging along anything more than your phone. Any charging device that can cut down on the number of cables and charging bricks (as of the last time I flew, that included 1x Lightning cable, 2x USB-C cables, 1x Apple Watch charger, and at least three charging bricks) makes a meaningful difference.

Apple once pitched AirPower as a sort of miracle charging solution — a mat you could put your phone, watch, and headphones on, and charge them regardless of where they were placed. Tesla’s Wireless Charging Platform that my colleague Raymond Wong reviewed mostly achieves what AirPower didn’t. Ultimately, AirPower never saw the light of day , but Apple did release a convenient charger that can power multiple electronics at once. It’s called the MagSafe Duo , and it costs way too much money at $129.

But worry not, because you can purchase a charger that can give you all of the benefits of the MagSafe Duo — charging your iPhone and Apple Watch — with the added perk of a dedicated spot for juicing up your AirPods , and much nicer fabric finishes. And you’ll only have to pay slightly more for it at $149. It’s called the Mophie 3-in-1 Travel Charger with MagSafe , and it might be the last charger I ever buy.

Folded Functionality

The key aspect of Mophie’s charger is that it folds, layer cake style, into a much smaller puck than its size would suggest. The exterior of the 3-in-1 Travel Charger is wrapped in a gray fabric that matches the gray felt of its carrying case, while the rest of the charger is matte or glossy black plastic. It’s not the best-looking option when it comes to accessories, but it fits the utilitarian purpose of Mophie’s charger.

This charger charges three things and charges them well.

The 3-in-1 Travel Charger is MFi certified , the official standard that means Mophie’s device can take advantage of the charging speeds typically reserved for Apple’s own products. In the case of the MagSafe component on the 3-in-1 charger, that’s 15W charging, which is supposed to get you at least 50 percent battery in 30 minutes, and was typically true for me, unless I had Clean Energy Charging enabled on my phone. Next to the MagSafe charger, there’s a pop-up Apple Watch charging puck (perfect if you use Nightstand Mode) and on the other side a little Qi charging tray for AirPods or AirPods Pro .

Critically, the charger folds.

And it folds down pretty small.

Unlike the new higher-watt USB-C charging cable Apple started offering with the Apple Watch Series 7 (with the right charging brick you can go from zero to 80 percent in 45 minutes), the 3-in-1 charger is not blazing fast, but it gets the job done. If you sleep with your smartwatch on you might wait a bit longer for it to charge than you’d like, but it’s by no means a dealbreaker.

Some Things Should Be Cable Free

The 3-in-1 Travel Charger with MagSafe comes with its own carrying case too.

I generally maintain that cables are okay, and even preferable , to wireless options that have been foisted upon us by electronics manufacturers. You’re almost always going to get a better experience physically plugging things in. But when I’m traveling in somewhat high-stress, time-dependent environments like CES 2023 , I accept wireless charging if it means the things I use daily (my phone, earbuds, and watch) are as easy to grab as they are to charge.

Charging should be “set it and forget it.”

The Mophie 3-in-1 Travel Charger with MagSafe does the job, and then some, besting what Apple has to offer and doing it for an overall better price, which was exactly what I (and I think a lot of people) am looking for. Charging should be “set it and forget it.” With Mophie’s charger, I get as close as I think I’ve gotten yet.

Though I haven't traveled since last summer, I know that I prefer to consolidate what I carry when traveling. After all, it is a hassle to keep track of everything and if you can have more multipurpose products, the better. I actually have a packing cube stowed away in my luggage that already has my spare power adapters, Lightning cable, Apple Watch charger, and a Nintendo Switch USB-C adapter and cable so that I don't need to do that before packing for a trip. But even still, that's several different loose items — what if I could reduce a few of those into a single product?

Enter the mophie 3-in-1 Travel Charger with MagSafe. This appears to be mophie's own version of Apple's MagSafe Duo Charger but with one more charging area for your AirPods. It even one-ups Apple's charger in other ways, like including a power adapter, cable, and a carrying case.

The mophie 3-in-1 Travel Charger with MagSafe is available directly from mophie at Zagg and you can also find it at the Apple Store, either in-person or online. It only comes in one color, which is black. It retails for $150.

The mophie 3-in-1 Travel Charger with MagSafe is pretty much the travel charger that Apple should have come up with. Both the charger and carrying case that it comes in are wrapped up in stylish, premium fabric. The case feels like a felt wool material, while the charger itself is more of a cloth fabric with what feels like a canvas finish, which adds a bit of no-slip grip to it to prevent it from sliding around. The interior lining of the charger is a soft-touch material that gives it a premium aesthetic. On the case, you have a large button with an elastic cord closure and there are dividers to keep the charging cable, power adapter, and charger separated.

This is the travel charger that Apple should have made.

Since this is a 3-in-1 charger, it folds up neatly into a compact little square, kind of like a trifold wallet. It even has a magnetic closure on the end with the AirPods charger to make sure it stays folded up when not in use. The cable plugs into the port on the Apple Watch charger section and it will power up all three charging areas.

Since the mophie 3-in-1 Travel Charger with MagSafe has MFi certification from Apple, it actually charges your iPhone 12 or iPhone 13 with 15W output through MagSafe. This gives the product an advantage over other magnetic wireless chargers because without the actual MFi certification, maximum output is halved at 7.5W. If you have an older iPhone without MagSafe , the mophie charger still works as a wireless charging pad.

Since it's MFi certified, you get 15W fast charging for iPhone.

While mophie does not state the exact charging speed for your favorite Apple Watch or AirPods , it feels like it matches up closely with Apple's original chargers. Unfortunately, if you are using an Apple Watch Series 7 , then the mophie 3-in-1 Travel Charger with MagSafe does not fast charge it — this is a regular Apple Watch charging puck designed for Apple Watch Series 6 and older. The Apple Watch charging puck in the mophie 3-in-1 Travel Charger with MagSafe is magnetic too, so your favorite Apple Watch should stay securely in place while charging. The puck also flips out to charge your watch at an angle, making it perfect for Nightstand Mode.

Though it's designed specifically for Apple devices, the spot for AirPods does charge other wireless earbuds, as long as it fits in the grooved area. If your charging case is larger than that, it may not work.

As much as I love the mophie 3-in-1 Travel Charger with MagSafe, it's not perfect. For one, each spot is only for its designated device. So if you wanted to use this travel charger for charging two iPhones, that won't be possible. Each spot will only work for the device it was made for, so that's only one Apple Watch, one iPhone, and one pair of AirPods.

Also, mophie claims that the charger will only work with Apple devices but I was able to use the AirPods spot to charge my Anker Soundcore Liberty 3 Pro earbuds. And since you could technically use the iPhone spot to wirelessly charge an iPhone without MagSafe, I don't see why it wouldn't work for other smartphones. Of course, the mileage may vary here, but I do not have a non-Apple smartphone to test this part out.

Each charging spot is only for the designated device.

Lastly, the mophie 3-in-1 Travel Charger with MagSafe is a bit pricey at $150. However, if you travel frequently, then this product is worth it just for the convenience. It's three chargers in one and mophie gives you the charging cable and adapter, and everything is packed neatly into a nice carrying case. It's about $20 more than Apple's MagSafe Duo Charger but you get one more charging spot, along with the carrying case and a — gasp — power adapter. If you were ever considering the MagSafe Duo, it would be better to pick this one up instead.

I've already mentioned it a few times, but the very obvious competitor here is Apple's MagSafe Duo Charger. Both of these are chargers that fold up for convenience when traveling, but Apple's is expensive, only has two charging spots for iPhone and Apple Watch, and doesn't come with a power adapter or carrying case.

Another great choice for a 3-in-1 MagSafe charger is the Belkin BoostCharge Pro 3-in-1 . This charger acts as a stand for your MagSafe iPhone 12 or iPhone 13 and Apple Watch and has a spot to top off your AirPods. It also has up to 15W output speeds for your iPhone. The charger itself is incredibly small and compact since it folds up like a trifold wallet and it even comes with a convenient carrying case that also fits the power adapter and charging cable inside. Since it's officially MFi certified, you'll get 15W charging speeds with MagSafe, like the official Apple MagSafe Charger . And the Apple Watch charging puck flips out, allowing you to use Nightstand Mode if desired.

However, there's no denying that this is an expensive travel charger at $150. It's also not the best option if you don't have all three devices that it's charged for, which are the Apple Watch, iPhone, and AirPods. Should you buy the Mophie 3-in-1 Travel Charger with MagSafe?

Within the realm of tech, there are few topics I lament more than the dismal battery specs that haunt the Apple Watch . Eight generations in, Apple has yet to surpass its 18-hour claim (which, fortunately, is really more like 24 hours in hand). For this reason, a charging routine is crucial to getting the most out of your wearable, and that requires a reliable charger .

The Mophie 3-in-1 Travel Charger aims to alleviate Apple Watch charging woes, plus do a little bit more. The pad’s multi-device design can power up your watch, iPhone, and AirPods all at once. It features proprietary Apple charging modules to offer fast wireless charging up to 15W and compatibility with all MagSafe-enabled iPhones. In short, it can turn any surface in striking distance of an outlet into an instant power hub. It even comes with a 30W USB-C wall adapter.

All that said, the Mophie 3-in-1 Travel Charger is not cheap. I mention this early because the follow-up is that it’s also not necessary for everyone. This is not the best-looking multi-device charger nor the most powerful one in terms of charging speeds. What you pay for (and what I can confirm you do get) is a very convenient travel companion.

Unlike heavier, platform-style charging pads, the Mophie 3-in-1 Travel Charger is thin, lightweight, and foldable. When you’re done charging your devices, you can trifold the pad into a neat, roughly 3.5-inch square. In just one week, it joined me while house-sitting, working remotely at a coffee shop, and waiting thirty minutes to be called into a doctor’s office. It also made the rounds plugging into every feasible reading corner in my house. The charger’s portability is extremely convenient. While I wasn’t booked for any trips during my Mophie 3-in-1 Travel Charger with MagSafe review period, it easily earned a future spot in my carry-on.

Further streamlining travel, the device ships with a felt carrying case with dedicated slots for the charging pad, one-meter cable, and power adapter. The case is made from heathered gray felt with a loop and button closure. At nearly seven inches long, the carrying case is bulky but it’s still light and easily fit into my backpack. I considered ditching the case on one outing to save space, but the fact that it corrals the charger’s cable is worth the real estate. Unfortunately, the charger doesn’t include any form of cable management.

Like some of its competitors, the Mophie charger does boast an adjustable Apple Watch station. You can lay your watch flat or charge it upright to utilize nightstand mode. This is a nice detail, especially considering you may not have a visible bedside clock while traveling.

Unfortunately, the charging puck is a standard Apple Watch charger rather than a fast charging module. My Apple Watch Series 8 took two hours and forty minutes to reach a full charge, which is less than ideal in an on-the-go scenario. My Apple Watch Ultra took well over three hours. If you are charging overnight, these specs might not be as inconvenient, but then you miss out on sleep tracking.

If you opt to charge by daylight, you’ll likely also notice the relatively cheap look of the interior of the charging pad. Folded up, the travel charger displays a refined gray fabric. A hidden magnet keeps the pad in its pleated yoga-like configuration. Unfolded, the charger loses its elegance and you’re left with a far less elevated plastic. Sprawled out the charger looks economical and even a little sloppy. This isn’t a deal breaker if you’re strictly after a travel accessory, but I wouldn’t personally make this my staple platform at home. The overall impression is not nearly as neat as other options.

What are the best Mophie 3-in-1 Travel Charger alternatives?

With the popularity of certain fruit-forward tech products, it should be no surprise that Mophie isn’t the only name in the Apple charging game. These alternatives give the Mophie 3-in-1 travel charger plenty of competition.

• Belkin BoostCharge Pro 3-in-1 wireless charging pad  ( $139 at Amazon ): Though less ideal for travel, the Belkin 3-in-1 charging pad offers a more aesthetically pleasing charging hub with MagSafe and fast charging capabilities for the Apple Watch.
• Belkin BoostCharge Pro Portable charger  ( $59 at Amazon ): Belkin’s portable charger for the Apple Watch won’t help your iPhone and AirPods’ battery life, but it does offer fast charging, cable management, a travel-friendly form factor, and a much lower price point.
• Anker 3-in-1 cube with MagSafe ( $149.99 ): The Anker cube features a unique form factor that’s also compact like Mophie’s design, but allows users to charge an iPhone at a convenient viewing angle.

What to do in Moscow in 3 days?

Don’t worry; 72 hours is enough to get a glimpse of the vibrant and expressive side of Moscow.

Russia. Just the mention of the name conjures images of red flags, vast spaces, and deadly distances.

Moscow is the heart of Russia, with an incredibly turbulent history, gorgeous architecture and slightly strange people with a mystic Russian soul.

While visiting Moscow, the brutal history is palpable. But, with so many shops, restaurants, and malls, the city is rightfully considered a perfect destination for a city break .

Moscow’s relatively compact city center is teeming with sights: theaters, museums, boulevards, and beautiful city squares. But because of that, planning a short visit to Moscow can be quite overwhelming.

I fell in love with Moscow a long time ago and I want to use this article to point out my favorite sights and spots in the city.

My 3-day Moscow itinerary is ideal for first-time visitors and those who want to see as much of the city as possible. So let’s get started!

3 Days in Moscow – Itinerary

Day 1: iconic moscow.

There is no doubt that the Red Square is the heart of Moscow and almost any trip to this city starts from here .

The square has an abundance of sights to see and you should probably expect to spend at least 2-3 hours here if you want to explore every nook and cranny.

Tip: Book a Red Square, Kremlin & Metro Tour to skip the line and learn more about Moscow’s incredible history.

The massive Lenin mausoleum, the opulent St Basil Cathedral, the GUM department store, and the State Historical Museum became integral parts of the architectural ensemble.

And depending on where you enter the Red square, those four sights are the first things to see.

Just a stone’s throw away from the Red Square there is a majestic Christ the Saviour Cathedral.

Originally built in 1883 it was then demolished in 1931 during the Soviet period and finally rebuilt between 1994-1997.

This awe-inspiring cathedral is one of the tallest Orthodox churches in the world . And it has a convenient location for exploring the rest of the city.

End the first of your three days in Moscow by exploring the area near the Old Arbat Street. This is one of the oldest neighborhoods in Moscow. It dates back to the 15th century and allows you to enjoy the authentic ambiance of the Old City.

Located just a few blocks away there is the New Arbat Street. While it is much younger and less fancy than its older counterpart the street is filled with some of the most vibrant restaurants and liveliest nightclubs in Moscow .

Both Old and New Arbat streets have a wide range of restaurants with food catering for all budgets.

Day 2: Beyond Red Square. Moscow’s Parks.

On the second day of this Moscow itinerary, I suggest exploring Moscow’s green lung.

In fact, there are way too many parks to visit in just one day, thus I will only mention my favorite ones.

Named after Maxim Gorky this is one of the trendiest and most hipster-friendly areas in Moscow .

Originally opened in 1928 the park underwent a massive transformation that has turned it into a charming recreation ground with an open-air cinema theater, bicycle- and skate-rental spots, and contemporary public art projects.

If you visit the Russian capital in winter, make sure to pay this park a visit because it offers one of the best ice skating rinks in Moscow .

Kolomenskoye Park

Conveniently situated in the southeast of Moscow this huge park is both an open-air museum and a UNESCO World Heritage site .

With an impressive number of original buildings, churches, bell towers, and pavilions, Kolomenskoye dates back to the 14th century and the Ascension church to the mid-16th century.

It may take up to four hours to explore the area near the church so you can easily combine these two parks in one trip.

Day 3: Hidden Gems in Moscow

The patriarch ponds.

This tranquil and charming neighborhood next to Mayakovaskaya Metro station has long been known as the area popular with expatriates. However, only a handful of tourists make their way here .

I absolutely recommend visiting this tiny park especially if you’re a Bulgakov fan.

The residential area near the Patriarch Ponds is where the conversation between Berlioz, Ivan Bezdomny, and Woland has been situated by Mikhail Bulgakov in his popular novel “The Master and Margarita”.

The Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception

Situated not far from Moscow Zoo and the Embassy of Poland, this neo-Gothic Roman Catholic Church is one of the largest and most beautiful Catholic cathedrals in Russia .

Built in the early 20th century, the building has had a fairly complicated history. It was shut down and suffered terrible damage from aerial bombings during the Second World War but was restored in 1990.

These days you can attend one of the masses offered in a range of languages and enjoy classical music concerts free of charge in this lesser-known architectural gem.

How To Get To Moscow’s City Center

With four international airports located not far from the city, there are many convenient ways to reach the city center from any of them.

Chances are you will arrive at Sheremetyevo, Domodedovo, or Vnukovo airport as only a handful of flights arrive at Zhukovsky airport.

The Aeroexpress train is the fastest (and my favorite) way to reach Moscow city center from the Sheremetyevo, Domodedovo, or Vnukovo airport. Trains run every 30 minutes between around 5 a.m. to 12 a.m. and cost around $7 USD (500 RUB) one way.

With frequent heavy traffic in Moscow, the train is definitely the best way to get to the city center at a predictable time.

But, if you travel on a tight budget, there is a way to save money on transportation . All airports are connected with the nearest subway station by bus. These are not that comfy but really cheap. You could travel for less than $3 USD one way.

Keep in mind, however, that if you choose to take the bus you’ll have to use the metro to get from the outskirts of Moscow to the center. Watch for bus 851 if you arrive at Sheremetyevo airport and bus 308 if you arrive at Domodedovo airport.

Getting Around in Moscow

Moscow’s ticketing system for their public transport can be confusing especially if you’ve never visited the city before and don’t speak Russian.

It is always good to remember that most stations and ticketing machines can get ridiculously crowded during peak hours.

I can’t recommend purchasing a Troika card enough when it comes to getting around. You can get a Troika card that is valid for 3 days for less than $7 USD, so don’t miss out on the opportunity to save money and avoid wasting time in line.

This reusable card allows you to use the Moscow metro, as well as Moscow’s Central Ring, busses, trams, and trolley busses. There is no limit to the number of rides during the validity of your card.

How to get the Troika card: you can buy this card at any metro kiosk.

While they do have English announcements in the metro on most lines, signs at Metro stations are often written only in Russian. Getting a printed copy of the metro map might come in handy to overcome the language barrier and find your way around.

Where to Stay in Moscow

When you’re planning a 3-day Moscow itinerary, you’ll find out there are literally thousands of places to stay.

Accommodation in Moscow ranges from luxury hotels to budget hostels that often have both shared facilities and private rooms.

To save on accommodation I recommend using the Ostrovok hotel booking engine. They often offer better deals on hotels in Moscow than websites like Booking.com.

If you’re looking for budget hotels in Moscow, I recommend 999 Gold Hotel and Orange House Hotel near the Victory Park.

Airbnb and Couchsurfing are also popular in Moscow and most of the hosts speak English well.

Moscow is a wonderful city to visit at any time of the year! I visited it both in winter and summer and every season has its appointed uses and advantages.

Gorky Park is one of my favorite spots to hang out in Moscow and it can be easily reached by metro because things have evolved. Now they do have most of the signs (including the ones on the floor) written in English, so chances are you won’t get lost in the metro the way you could several years ago!

We did this 20 years ago! This takes me right back. Moscow was the first stop of our first RTW. We did all of the above but it was winter, snow on the ground. I loved Gorky Park, so atmospheric, like a spy movie. We had to remember the shapes of the letters to find the right stations. It looks like nothing much has changed!

Three Marvelous Days in Moscow

I’ll never forget the sense of anticipation I felt looking down onto Moscow as my flight from Warsaw descended, the city shrouded in the pitch black of early winter. The Russian capital had long been on my bucket list, and in just a couple of hours I’d be walking across Red Square toward St. Basil’s Cathedral, hopefully with some snow falling, to begin my 3 days in Moscow.

My Moscow itinerary lived up to all of my expectations. Well, except for one—I imagined a city as grand as Moscow would be difficult to comprehend in a short period of time, but that was not the case. Indeed, seeing Moscow in 3 days provided me a nuanced impression of the city, albeit one I want to build upon with future visits.

Where to Stay in Moscow

Moscow has a reputation as one of the most expensive cities in the world, which means it should be one of the most expensive cities in the world for hotels. Thankfully, at least as of early 2022, the Russian ruble is still very weak, which means that prices for even “nice” hotels in Moscow or comparable to or even lower than their counterparts in the rest of Europe.

If you’re looking for a boutique stay in Moscow, I recommend the Stoleshnikov Boutique Hotel ; otherwise, the city is full of hostels and budget hotels that will serve you during your three days in Moscow itinerary.

How to Divide Up Your 3 Days in Moscow

Day 1: moscow 101.

Although Moscow is a sprawling metropolis, many of the city’s key attractions are centralized—namely, around Red Square , located just north of the Moskva River . The obvious sights here include the impressive Kremlin and iconic St. Basil’s Cathedral but extend north, to the Bolshoi Theatre and also southward, to the river itself and the dramatic vistas the bridges over it provide.

To be sure, you should spend most of your first of three days in Moscow in close proximity to Red Square, in spite of how much more geographical ground there is to discover. Punctuate visits to important points of interest by getting an ice cream at the grandiose GUM department store, or treat yourself to a panoramic view of central Moscow by heading up to the roof of Children’s World department store.

Day 2: Beyond Red Square

Your strategy changes on the second of your Moscow 3 days itinerary, when your focus broadens. How this happens, of course, may vary. If it’s art and culture you’re after, for example, you might make a visit to the Russian State Library and the Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts . For architecture, you could visit less-celebrated Moscow churches such as the Cathedral of Christ the Savior , make a tour of the so-called “Seven Sisters” (a.k.a. Stalin’s Skyscrapers ) or even ride the Moscow Metro to Moscow City , which is home to some of the tallest skyscrapers in Europe.

Moscow is also home to a great number of green spaces, most notably the massive Gorky Park , but most dramatically VDNKh —located near the base of the Ostankino TV Tower , it features monuments to all the former Soviet republics. Tverskaya Street , a thoroughfare that extends northward from Red Square.

Day 3: Exploring the Golden Ring

Moscow is large and full enough of things to do that you could remain in the city center for the entirety of your third of Moscow 3 days, but I recommend traveling instead out into the so-called “ Golden Ring ” of historical cities around it. Well-known cities include Suzdal , Vladimir and Kostroma , and are all defined by colorful and well-maintained kremlins, which feature dramatic and picturesque churches and other structures that will be highlights of your Moscow 3 day itinerary.

If you’re traveling independently and using public transport, the easiest Golden Ring city to see as part of your 3 days in Moscow itinerary is Sergiyev Posad , which is accessible via direct suburban commuter train from Yaroslavskaya Railway Station —the journey time is about one hour. Sergivey Posad’s Kremlin is not only picturesque (my Russian friend commentated that one church within it, Mikheevskaya Tserkov , is “Russia’s Sistine Chapel”) but is a great place to enjoy a traditional, filling and warming Russian lunch, specifically at the dumpling house Varenichnaya . Both sweet vareniki filled with sour cherries, or hearty potato and chicken pelmeni will fuel you as you explore Moscow in three days.

Is 3 Days Enough in Moscow?

I can’t lie: This Moscow itinerary is packed full, even by my standards. You’ll have to wake up early every morning and sleep late every night in order to fit it all in, to say nothing of how much more difficult it will be if you travel to Russia in winter like I did (more on that in just a few paragraphs).

Of course, whether you pare down my recommendations to a more appropriate curation of Moscow in 3 days or can devote 5 days or even a week to Moscow from the outset, one thing is for certain: Moscow is far more beautiful and dynamic than the Soviet reputation that precedes it would suggest.

According to AAA, Texas is projected to see 3.6 million travelers this Memorial Day holiday, marking a 4.2% increase from last year. Nationally, 43.8 million people are expected to travel for Memorial Day, reflecting a 4.1% rise from the previous year and nearly reaching the 2005 record of 44 million travelers.

Paula Twidale, senior vice president of AAA Travel, said people are eager to travel this season. 

“We haven’t seen Memorial Day weekend travel numbers like these in almost 20 years,” she said. “We’re projecting an additional one million travelers this holiday weekend compared to 2019, which not only means we’re exceeding pre-pandemic levels but also signals a very busy summer travel season ahead.”

Airports are gearing up for a surge in travelers as AAA forecasts 3.51 million air passengers for this holiday weekend, marking a 4.8% rise from last year and a 9% increase compared to 2019. Despite this uptick, air ticket prices remain on par with last year's rates for Memorial Day weekend.

Various factors influence the cost of airfare, such as destination, number of layovers, and fare class. For instance, passengers opting for nonstop flights with amenities like seat selection and carry-on bags can expect to pay more compared to those choosing basic economy with a layover.

Switzerland-based global travel retailer Avolta (formerly Dufry ) saw its two biggest regions, Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) and North America, drive sales in the first quarter, with the latter breaking $1 billion (reaching $1.07 billion or 974 billion Swiss francs).

Investors were not impressed as the stock declined on Thursday and Friday by 2%. However, year-to-date, the share price has risen by 13.4%. Helping the company is a positive outlook for air travel for the full year; it is expected to finally surpass 2019 levels by up to 4% according to the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), a United Nations agency.

Organic growth of 7.3% in North America was due to the “robust” engines of both travel retail and food and beverage (F&B), and “strong demand for the duty-free segment” according to a statement from Avolta.

Some of the gains came from expanded operations. Hudson opened its first duty-free store in Halifax Stanfield International Airport in Nova Scotia, Canada, and a Hermès boutique at Vancouver Airport. In the United States, Avolta introduced the locally inspired Bryant Park Market by Hudson to Terminal 5 at New York’s John F. Kennedy Airport, plus a series of travel convenience and retail stores at Washington’s Dulles International Airport.

In F&B, there were also new arrivals via the HMSHost brand at Jacksonville Airport; Calgary Airport in Canada; and a Chick-fil-A quick-service restaurant serving both landside and airside travelers at Charleston Airport in South Carolina.

In the EMEA region, organic growth hit 11.7% due to strong leisure demand for vacation destinations in southern Europe such as Italy, Greece, and Morocco. Avolta said that Britain, the Nordics, and Central Europe were also “solid” performers.

The retailer secured several wins and/or extensions in EMEA in the quarter. Among them were a nine-year contract for 26 F&B stores at Sabiha Gökçen International Airport in Istanbul, Türkiye; a seven-year contract extension at Edinburgh Airport in Scotland, plus 30% more commercial space; and a new 10-year partnership with Cologne-Bonn Airport in Germany with the award of 17 new F&B stores.

In Q1, EMEA and North America delivered 80.6% of Avolta’s revenue, up from 77.4% in the same quarter last year due to below-average performances in Latin America (up 5%) and Asia Pacific (up 5.5%). This somewhat hinders Avolta’s plans for global geographical diversification.

Summer hopes

On the overall Q1 result of 8.6% year-over-year organic growth to 2.8 billion Swiss francs ($3.1 billion)—this excludes fuel sales from the motorway business—Avolta CEO Xavier Rossinyol, was upbeat. He commented: “The first quarter supports our outlook for 2024 and beyond, underlining our confidence as we head into the summer season.

“Market conditions remain promising. The execution of our Destination 2027 strategy continues to deliver attractive growth in combination with resilience. Our industry offers prime exposure to travel and long-term consumption trends.”

Within travel retail, Avolta—more so than its competitors like Gebr. Heinemann and Lagardère Travel Retail —can take advantage of the travel rebound thanks to its scale: more than 5,100 points of sale across 73 countries across channels from airports to cruise lines.

This has been recognized by Moody’s upgrading Avolta’s credit rating from Ba3 to Ba2 with a stable outlook in March , and by S&P shifting its ratings from BB to BB+, also with a stable outlook. Rossinyol said: “Both agencies acknowledged the strength of our business model… as well as our successful deleveraging efforts of recent months.”

Travel Itinerary For One Week in Moscow: The Best of Moscow!

I just got back from one week in Moscow. And, as you might have already guessed, it was a mind-boggling experience. It was not my first trip to the Russian capital. But I hardly ever got enough time to explore this sprawling city. Visiting places for business rarely leaves enough time for sightseeing. I think that if you’ve got one week in Russia, you can also consider splitting your time between its largest cities (i.e. Saint Petersburg ) to get the most out of your trip. Seven days will let you see the majority of the main sights and go beyond just scratching the surface. In this post, I’m going to share with you my idea of the perfect travel itinerary for one week in Moscow.

Moscow is perhaps both the business and cultural hub of Russia. There is a lot more to see here than just the Kremlin and Saint Basil’s Cathedral. Centuries-old churches with onion-shaped domes dotted around the city are in stark contrast with newly completed impressive skyscrapers of Moscow City dominating the skyline. I spent a lot of time thinking about my Moscow itinerary before I left. And this city lived up to all of my expectations.

Travel Itinerary For One Week in Moscow

Day 1 – red square and the kremlin.

Metro Station: Okhotny Ryad on Red Line.

No trip to Moscow would be complete without seeing its main attraction. The Red Square is just a stone’s throw away from several metro stations. It is home to some of the most impressive architectural masterpieces in the city. The first thing you’ll probably notice after entering it and passing vendors selling weird fur hats is the fairytale-like looking Saint Basil’s Cathedral. It was built to commemorate one of the major victories of Ivan the Terrible. I once spent 20 minutes gazing at it, trying to find the perfect angle to snap it. It was easier said than done because of the hordes of locals and tourists.

As you continue strolling around Red Square, there’s no way you can miss Gum. It was widely known as the main department store during the Soviet Era. Now this large (yet historic) shopping mall is filled with expensive boutiques, pricey eateries, etc. During my trip to Moscow, I was on a tight budget. So I only took a retro-style stroll in Gum to get a rare glimpse of a place where Soviet leaders used to grocery shop and buy their stuff. In case you want some modern shopping experience, head to the Okhotny Ryad Shopping Center with stores like New Yorker, Zara, and Adidas.

To continue this Moscow itinerary, next you may want to go inside the Kremlin walls. This is the center of Russian political power and the president’s official residence. If you’re planning to pay Kremlin a visit do your best to visit Ivan the Great Bell Tower as well. Go there as early as possible to avoid crowds and get an incredible bird’s-eye view. There are a couple of museums that are available during designated visiting hours. Make sure to book your ticket online and avoid lines.

Day 2 – Cathedral of Christ the Saviour, the Tretyakov Gallery, and the Arbat Street

Metro Station: Kropotkinskaya on Red Line

As soon as you start creating a Moscow itinerary for your second day, you’ll discover that there are plenty of metro stations that are much closer to certain sites. Depending on your route, take a closer look at the metro map to pick the closest.

The white marble walls of Christ the Saviour Cathedral are awe-inspiring. As you approach this tallest Orthodox Christian church, you may notice the bronze sculptures, magnificent arches, and cupolas that were created to commemorate Russia’s victory against Napoleon.

Unfortunately, the current Cathedral is a replica, since original was blown to bits in 1931 by the Soviet government. The new cathedral basically follows the original design, but they have added some new elements such as marble high reliefs.

Home to some precious collection of artworks, in Tretyakov Gallery you can find more than 150,000 of works spanning centuries of artistic endeavor. Originally a privately owned gallery, it now has become one of the largest museums in Russia. The Gallery is often considered essential to visit. But I have encountered a lot of locals who have never been there.

Famous for its souvenirs, musicians, and theaters, Arbat street is among the few in Moscow that were turned into pedestrian zones. Arbat street is usually very busy with tourists and locals alike. My local friend once called it the oldest street in Moscow dating back to 1493. It is a kilometer long walking street filled with fancy gift shops, small cozy restaurants, lots of cute cafes, and street artists. It is closed to any vehicular traffic, so you can easily stroll it with kids.

Day 3 – Moscow River Boat Ride, Poklonnaya Hill Victory Park, the Moscow City

Metro Station: Kievskaya and Park Pobedy on Dark Blue Line / Vystavochnaya on Light Blue Line

Voyaging along the Moscow River is definitely one of the best ways to catch a glimpse of the city and see the attractions from a bit different perspective. Depending on your Moscow itinerary, travel budget and the time of the year, there are various types of boats available. In the summer there is no shortage of boats, and you’ll be spoiled for choice.

Travel Itinerary for One Week in Beijing

If you find yourself in Moscow during the winter months, I’d recommend going with Radisson boat cruise. These are often more expensive (yet comfy). They offer refreshments like tea, coffee, hot chocolate, and, of course, alcoholic drinks. Prices may vary but mostly depend on your food and drink selection. Find their main pier near the opulent Ukraine hotel . The hotel is one of the “Seven Sisters”, so if you’re into the charm of Stalinist architecture don’t miss a chance to stay there.

The area near Poklonnaya Hill has the closest relation to the country’s recent past. The memorial complex was completed in the mid-1990s to commemorate the Victory and WW2 casualties. Also known as the Great Patriotic War Museum, activities here include indoor attractions while the grounds around host an open-air museum with old tanks and other vehicles used on the battlefield.

How I Planned My Trip to Vietnam

The hallmark of the memorial complex and the first thing you see as you exit metro is the statue of Nike mounted to its column. This is a very impressive Obelisk with a statue of Saint George slaying the dragon at its base.

Maybe not as impressive as Shanghai’s Oriental Pearl Tower , the skyscrapers of the Moscow City (otherwise known as Moscow International Business Center) are so drastically different from dull Soviet architecture. With 239 meters and 60 floors, the Empire Tower is the seventh highest building in the business district.

The observation deck occupies 56 floor from where you have some panoramic views of the city. I loved the view in the direction of Moscow State University and Luzhniki stadium as well to the other side with residential quarters. The entrance fee is pricey, but if you’re want to get a bird’s eye view, the skyscraper is one of the best places for doing just that.

Day 4 – VDNKh, Worker and Collective Farm Woman Monument, The Ostankino TV Tower

Metro Station: VDNKh on Orange Line

VDNKh is one of my favorite attractions in Moscow. The weird abbreviation actually stands for Russian vystavka dostizheniy narodnogo khozyaystva (Exhibition of Achievements of the National Economy). With more than 200 buildings and 30 pavilions on the grounds, VDNKh serves as an open-air museum. You can easily spend a full day here since the park occupies a very large area.

Places to Visit in Barcelona That Aren’t Beaches

First, there are pavilions that used to showcase different cultures the USSR was made of. Additionally, there is a number of shopping pavilions, as well as Moskvarium (an Oceanarium) that features a variety of marine species. VDNKh is a popular venue for events and fairs. There is always something going on, so I’d recommend checking their website if you want to see some particular exhibition.

A stone’s throw away from VDNKh there is a very distinctive 25-meters high monument. Originally built in 1937 for the world fair in Paris, the hulking figures of men and women holding a hammer and a sickle represent the Soviet idea of united workers and farmers. It doesn’t take much time to see the monument, but visiting it gives some idea of the Soviet Union’s grandiose aspirations.

I have a thing for tall buildings. So to continue my travel itinerary for one week in Moscow I decided to climb the fourth highest TV tower in the world. This iconic 540m tower is a fixture of the skyline. You can see it virtually from everywhere in Moscow, and this is where you can get the best panoramic views (yep, even better than Empire skyscraper).

Parts of the floor are made of tempered glass, so it can be quite scary to exit the elevator. But trust me, as you start observing buildings and cars below, you won’t want to leave. There is only a limited number of tickets per day, so you may want to book online. Insider tip: the first tour is cheaper, you can save up to $10 if go there early.

Day 5 – A Tour To Moscow Manor Houses

Metro Station: Kolomenskoye, Tsaritsyno on Dark Green Line / Kuskovo on Purple Line

I love visiting the manor houses and palaces in Moscow. These opulent buildings were generally built to house Russian aristocratic families and monarchs. Houses tend to be rather grand affairs with impressive architecture. And, depending on the whims of the owners, some form of a landscaped garden.

During the early part of the 20th century though, many of Russia’s aristocratic families (including the family of the last emperor) ended up being killed or moving abroad . Their manor houses were nationalized. Some time later (after the fall of the USSR) these were open to the public. It means that today a great many of Moscow’s finest manor houses and palaces are open for touring.

20 Travel Tips I’ve Learned From Travelling The World

There are 20 manor houses scattered throughout the city and more than 25 in the area around. But not all of them easily accessible and exploring them often takes a lot of time. I’d recommend focusing on three most popular estates in Moscow that are some 30-minute metro ride away from Kremlin.

Sandwiched between the Moscow River and the Andropov Avenue, Kolomenskoye is a UNESCO site that became a public park in the 1920’s. Once a former royal estate, now it is one of the most tranquil parks in the city with gorgeous views. The Ascension Church, The White Column, and the grounds are a truly grand place to visit.

You could easily spend a full day here, exploring a traditional Russian village (that is, in fact, a market), picnicking by the river, enjoying the Eastern Orthodox church architecture, hiking the grounds as well as and wandering the park and gardens with wildflower meadows, apple orchards, and birch and maple groves. The estate museum showcases Russian nature at its finest year-round.

If my travel itinerary for one week in Moscow was a family tree, Tsaritsyno Park would probably be the crazy uncle that no-one talks about. It’s a large park in the south of the city of mind-boggling proportions, unbelievable in so many ways, and yet most travelers have never heard of it.

The palace was supposed to be a summer home for Empress Catherine the Great. But since the construction didn’t meet with her approval the palace was abandoned. Since the early 1990’s the palace, the pond, and the grounds have been undergoing renovations. The entire complex is now looking brighter and more elaborately decorated than at possibly any other time during its history. Like most parks in Moscow, you can visit Tsaritsyno free of charge, but there is a small fee if you want to visit the palace.

How To Stop Procrastinating When Trip Planning

Last, but by no means least on my Moscow itinerary is Kuskovo Park . This is definitely an off-the-beaten-path place. While it is not easily accessible, you will be rewarded with a lack of crowds. This 18th-century summer country house of the Sheremetev family was one of the first summer country estates of the Russian nobility. And when you visit you’ll quickly realize why locals love this park.

Like many other estates, Kuskovo has just been renovated. So there are lovely French formal garden, a grotto, and the Dutch house to explore. Make sure to plan your itinerary well because the estate is some way from a metro station.

Day 6 – Explore the Golden Ring

Creating the Moscow itinerary may keep you busy for days with the seemingly endless amount of things to do. Visiting the so-called Golden Ring is like stepping back in time. Golden Ring is a “theme route” devised by promotion-minded journalist and writer Yuri Bychkov.

Having started in Moscow the route will take you through a number of historical cities. It now includes Suzdal, Vladimir, Kostroma, Yaroslavl and Sergiev Posad. All these awe-inspiring towns have their own smaller kremlins and feature dramatic churches with onion-shaped domes, tranquil residential areas, and other architectural landmarks.

Two Weeks In Thailand: The Perfect 14-Day Itinerary

I only visited two out of eight cities included on the route. It is a no-brainer that Sergiev Posad is the nearest and the easiest city to see on a day trip from Moscow. That being said, you can explore its main attractions in just one day. Located some 70 km north-east of the Russian capital, this tiny and overlooked town is home to Trinity Lavra of St. Sergius, UNESCO Site.

Sergiev Posad is often described as being at the heart of Russian spiritual life. So it is uncommon to see the crowds of Russian pilgrims showing a deep reverence for their religion. If you’re traveling independently and using public transport, you can reach Sergiev Posad by bus (departs from VDNKh) or by suburban commuter train from Yaroslavskaya Railway Station (Bahnhof). It takes about one and a half hours to reach the town.

Trinity Lavra of St. Sergius is a great place to get a glimpse of filling and warming Russian lunch, specifically at the “ Gostevaya Izba ” restaurant. Try the duck breast, hearty potato and vegetables, and the awesome Napoleon cake.

Day 7 – Gorky Park, Izmailovo Kremlin, Patriarch’s Ponds

Metro Station: Park Kultury or Oktyabrskaya on Circle Line / Partizanskaya on Dark Blue Line / Pushkinskaya on Dark Green Line

Gorky Park is in the heart of Moscow. It offers many different types of outdoor activities, such as dancing, cycling, skateboarding, walking, jogging, and anything else you can do in a park. Named after Maxim Gorky, this sprawling and lovely park is where locals go on a picnic, relax and enjoy free yoga classes. It’s a popular place to bike around, and there is a Muzeon Art Park not far from here. A dynamic location with a younger vibe. There is also a pier, so you can take a cruise along the river too.

How to Save Money While Traveling in Europe

The Kremlin in Izmailovo is by no means like the one you can find near the Red Square. Originally built for decorative purposes, it now features the Vernissage flea market and a number of frequent fairs, exhibitions, and conferences. Every weekend, there’s a giant flea market in Izmailovo, where dozens of stalls sell Soviet propaganda crap, Russian nesting dolls, vinyl records, jewelry and just about any object you can imagine. Go early in the morning if you want to beat the crowds.

All the Bulgakov’s fans should pay a visit to Patriarch’s Ponds (yup, that is plural). With a lovely small city park and the only one (!) pond in the middle, the location is where the opening scene of Bulgakov’s novel Master and Margarita was set. The novel is centered around a visit by Devil to the atheistic Soviet Union is considered by many critics to be one of the best novels of the 20th century. I spent great two hours strolling the nearby streets and having lunch in the hipster cafe.

Conclusion and Recommendations

To conclude, Moscow is a safe city to visit. I have never had a problem with getting around and most locals are really friendly once they know you’re a foreigner. Moscow has undergone some serious reconstruction over the last few years. So you can expect some places to be completely different. I hope my one week Moscow itinerary was helpful! If you have less time, say 4 days or 5 days, I would cut out day 6 and day 7. You could save the Golden Ring for a separate trip entirely as there’s lots to see!

Moscow is one of Europe's most enigmatic destinations, home to a fascinating history and colorful, awe-inspiring architecture you won't find anywhere else in the world. Moscow might be one of the most populous cities in the world with over 11 million inhabitants, but this hasn't changed its strong cultural and social traditions.

Walk the cobblestone streets of the Red Square or the banks of the Moskva River early in the morning, and it's hard to tell what century you're in.

Tsarist architecture, must-see churches, and glamorous shopping opportunities blend together for a visual experience you won't forget. For ideas on what to see and do while visiting Russia, here's our list of top tourist attractions in Moscow.

Moscow's most recognizable structure is without a doubt the Kremlin, a 15th-century fortified complex that covers an area of 275,000 square meters surrounded by walls built in the 1400s.

The Grand Kremlin Palace -which has over 700 rooms- was once home to the Tsar family and is now the official residence of the president of the Russian Federation, although most heads of state choose to reside elsewhere.

The massive complex also includes many other buildings, some of which are open to the public and can be visited regularly. Aside from three cathedrals (including one where the Tsars were once crowned) and a number of towers, the Kremlin is also home to the Armory building, a museum holding everything from the royal crown and imperial carriages to the ivory throne of Ivan the Terrible and Fabergé eggs.

The Bolshoi Theater is home to the largest and one of the oldest ballet and opera companies in the world . While the theater has undergone several major renovations over the past century-including a recent one in 2011 to restore some of the imperial architectural details-it still retains all of its Neoclassical grandeur.

The Bolshoi Theater you see today opened in 1824, after several older versions burned down. Inside, red velvet, a three-tiered crystal chandelier, and gilt moldings give the place a Byzantine-Renassaince grandiose feel like no other.

Catching a show from the resident ballet and opera troupes is a treat, as the theater often presents a number of classic performances, such as Tchaikovsky's Mazeppa and Rachmaninoff's Francesca da Rimini, both of which originally premiered here.

Moscow's oldest and most upscale shopping center is an architectural marvel. GUM (short for Glávnyj Universálnyj Magazín or "Main Universal Store") was built in the late 1800s in neo-Russian style to showcase a beautiful mix of a steel skeleton and 20,000 panels of glass forming an arched roof.

This was a unique construction at the time, since the glass had to be strong enough to support the snow-heavy Russian winters. The building is just as impressive outside, with all three levels covered in marble and granite.

While GUM is no longer the largest shopping center in Moscow, it's still by far the most beautiful. Home to brands like Gucci and Manolo Blahnik, this might not be the ideal destination for most budget-conscious visitors, but the beauty of the building itself is worth a visit.

On the third floor, there are also great dining options, including a Soviet-style canteen that serves traditional Russian food, and a stand selling ice cream made by hand using an original 1954 recipe originally approved by the Soviet government.

Lenin's Mausoleum, the final resting place of Soviet leader Vladimir Lenin, occupies a central spot in Red Square. His body has been in the mausoleum since his death in 1924-and although the original plan was for him to be buried after a short period of public display for mourning, the plan quickly changed.

After over 100,000 visited the tomb over a period of six weeks, it was decided that a new sarcophagus and a more permanent display space could actually preserve Lenin's body for much longer than expected-and Lenin's Mausoleum was built.

Over the years, the mausoleum and its marble stairs also became the main spot from where Soviet leaders would watch parades and events happening in Red Square.

Lenin's embalmed body can still be seen today, lying down in a bulletproof glass sarcophagus as if he's sleeping. While a visit to the mausoleum is certainly unusual, it has become a must-do for history buffs looking to understand how Lenin's legacy truly changed the nation. Come ready to wait, though -there are usually lines to get in.

All of Moscow's main streets start at Red Square, so it's easy to see why this is considered the heart of the city. A massive space of 330 meters by 70 meters, the square is flanked by the Kremlin, Lenin's Mausoleum, two cathedrals, and the State Historical Museum.

In 1945, a massive Victory Parade was held here to celebrate the defeat of Nazi Germany by the Soviet Armed Forces.

St. Basil's Cathedral , one of the most recognizable buildings on the square, was built in 1555. The unique cathedral has architectural details inspired by Byzantine and Asian design, as well as details that resemble those found in famous mosques. There are nine individual chapels inside the church, all decorated with colorful mural art.

Both the square itself and the Kremlin are recognized as UNESCO World Heritage Sites . On weekends, there are sometimes stalls selling souvenirs and traditional items here, such as matryoshka (Russian nesting dolls), at the entrance of the square.

At one point, Russia and the US were toe-to-toe when it came to space exploration. While that might no longer be the case, the museum's amazing collection-which includes over 85,000 items-is still awe-inspiring.

Main exhibits include the space capsule used by Yuri Gagarin , the first human to travel into outer space; a USSR flag with moon fragments; a Soviet spacesuit; and a rocket propulsion unit from the 1960s. A special two-story hall showcases sections of the Mir space station interior, and there are also models of the first sputniks and a replica miniature spaceship.

English-language tours are available, and there's also a Cinema Hall showing subtitled short films about the history of space exploration programs and the first manned space flight.

The museum is located inside the base of the monument to the Conquerors of Space, which was built almost 20 years before the museum opened.

Riding the Moscow metro is an experience all in itself, but even just heading underground to walk through the stations is something no visitor should miss. With 223 stations and 12 metro lines crosscutting through Moscow, however, this can be tricky, so visiting at least a few of the most impressive ones is a good start.

Arbatskaya station was designed by a skyscraper architect, so it's no surprise that it features multicolored granite slabs and impressive bronze chandeliers.

Park Kultury station , located next to Gorky Park, is covered in marble and features reliefs of people involved in sports, while Teatralnaya station is decorated with porcelain figures dancing and wearing traditional Russian costumes.

The metro is open between 5:30am and 1:00am but it's very crowded in the early morning and after 4pm, so it's better to visit in the late morning or early afternoon to really appreciate the architecture without the crowds.

The Moscow State Integrated Art and Historical Architectural and Natural Landscape Museum-Reserve is a cultural open-air museum complex comprised of four different historical sites.

The most important site, the Kolomenskoye Estate, was once the summer residence of Tsars as far back as the 14 th century. The complex, which covers almost 300 hectares, is home to fairy-tale wooden palaces; a tent-roof stone church built in the 1500s; a water tower; fort towers and structures; and the 24-room Museum of Wooden Architecture , which includes the restored dining room of Tsar Alexei I.

Beautiful manicured gardens , riverside picnic areas, and a massive collection of both artifacts and structures make this a great destination to help you see what medieval Russia looked like. English-language tours are available, but you're also free to wander the grounds on your own.

The largest collection of Russian art in the world sits here, with over 180,000 paintings, sculptures, and religious art dating back to over a millennia ago. The gallery, built using beautiful red and white colors from classical Russian architecture, is located near the Kremlin and it was built in the early 20 th century.

Significant art pieces include the Vladimir Mother of God; a Byzantine icon of the Virgin and child dating back to the 1100s; Andrei Rublev's The Trinity icon from the 15 th century; and several works by Ilya Repin, the most famous realist painter in Russia.

On the grounds of the museum, there is also an 86-meter-tall statue of Peter the Great, as well as a number of Socialist Realism sculptures.

Moscow's one-kilometer-long pedestrian street has been around since the 15 th century. Originally a trade route in the outskirts of the city, Arbat Street is now very centrally located, home to posh buildings and lots of places to eat and shop.

Beautiful street lamps and two significant statues-one of Princess Turandot (from Puccini's last opera) and one of Soviet-era poet Bulat Okudzhava-adorn the street, which fills up with both locals and tourists on evenings and weekends.

A great place to pick up souvenirs or sit down at an outdoor café, Arbat Street also offers a chance to visit the former home of poet Alexander Pushkin and the café both Anton Chekhov and Leo Tolstoy used to visit.

Although it was originally designed as a general-purpose trade show venue, this park complex now houses amusement rides , ice rinks , and a number of galleries and other attractions for all ages.

The park's most famous landmarks are the Moskvarium, a marine biology center home to over 8000 species of marine animals, the Garage Museum of Contemporary Art, and a shopping center selling traditional products from former Soviet countries.

There's even a film museum showing Soviet cartoons or even a full-length film (for an extra fee) and an education center offering masterclasses on everything from becoming a barista to video montage (call or write in advance to find out which ones are English-friendly).

Soviet-era pavilions, sculptures, and fountains abound here as well, including the famous Friendship of the Peoples Fountain, which features statues of women dressed in costumes from different former Soviet countries.

Named after the famous Russian writer Maxim Gorky (who was nominated for the Nobel Prize in Literature five times but never won it) and sitting right across the Moskva River, Gorky Park covers 120 hectares of beautiful ponds and green spaces.

Popular with both locals and tourists, the park offers a variety of things to enjoy-from sunbeds, hammocks, and drinking fountains to free yoga classes and children's playgrounds. There's free Wi-Fi and sockets for charging your phone, as well as many food stands and plenty of wild animals, including deer, rabbits, and pheasants.

Visitors can rent paddle boats and bicycles to explore the park-and from May to October, there is also an open-air movie theater, as well as scheduled presentations by street performers, musicians, and artists. Gorky Park attracts the young and old, so don't be surprised to see a mix of people exercising, playing chess, and sunbathing.

Luxury Hotels :

• Lotte Hotel Moscow is one of the top 5-star properties in Moscow offering the largest Royal Suite in Russia. The trendy rooms and suites here all have contemporary style and great city views. On-site amenities are plentiful. There are two restaurants: one serving contemporary Italian fare, and the other Japanese. There is an impressively lit indoor swimming pool, a well-known spa, and a state-of-the-art gym.
• Another excellent luxury hotel is the Ararat Park Hyatt Moscow . The residential-style property is in the heart of Moscow just next to the Bolshoi Theatre and within walking distance of the Kremlin and Red Square. The rooms and suites have been opulently designed by Tony Chi. The on-site restaurant serves a mix of European and Armenian specialities. There is also a Japanese sushi bar and a rooftop lounge with fabulous city views.
• The St. Regis Moscow Nikolskaya also has a central location just a few minutes from the Kremlin and Red Square. The 5-star property has a mix of elegant rooms and suites, including interconnecting room options for families with kids. There are multiple restaurants on-site including an Italian bistro. Other amenities include the fabulous Iridium Spa, which does a full range of treatments and has an indoor swimming pool, sauna, and steam room.

Mid-Range Hotels :

• Palmira Business Club is a top mid-range choice. The contemporary lifestyle hotel offers well-appointed rooms and suites, including options for families. Suites are quite spacious and have kitchenettes. Amenities here include a complimentary breakfast at the on-site restaurant, a hot tub, sauna, and spa. There is also a fitness center.
• The trendy Mercure Moscow Baumanskaya offers a mix of rooms and suites with contemporary decor. The mid-range hotel can arrange airport transportation and offers baggage storage. Other amenities include a restaurant and room service. The front desk is open 24 hours.
• Boutique Hotel Brighton is about 10 minutes from the city center in a leafy park area. It offers excellent value for money and has charming rooms and suites with sound-proof windows and doors, as well as blackout curtains. A complimentary breakfast is served, and there is also an indoor swimming pool.

Budget Hotels :

• Hotel Ibis Budget Moscow Panfilovskaya is about a 15-minute drive from Moscow's downtown, and it's within walking distance from a metro station that will take you there. The soundproof rooms at this budget property are clean, comfortable, and can sleep up to three people. The hotel is pet friendly, has paid parking available on-site, and also has a salon.
• If you just need a budget hotel near the airport then check out Aviator Hotel Sheremetyevo . Located right at the airport, it has soundproof rooms, including options for families. Amenities include an indoor play area for kids, a sauna and swimming pool, and a free breakfast.

NFL schedule 2024: Full list of how many miles each team will travel and time zones they will cross

A look at the nfl travel data for the 2024 season.

All 32 NFL teams will have to travel at least eight times during the 2024 regular season, but some will travel more and much farther. Teams will have to travel cross country, while some will go off to Germany and England. Have you ever wondered how many miles each NFL team travels, and how many time zones they cross through? Well, that info has been put together for the upcoming season and released prior to the official NFL schedule release.

According to Bookies.com , the Los Angeles Chargers  will travel the most miles of any team this season -- a whopping 26,803 miles. The Chargers will also travel through the most time zones: 36. As for the team that will travel the least amount of miles in 2024, that honor belongs to Dan Quinn's  Washington Commanders .

The mileage for this list was calculated by using the linear air distance between each stadium on Google Earth. Check out the full list below:

Cleveland Browns Top Travel Destinations On The 2024 Schedule

The Browns have some great cross-division matchups in the 2024 season between the NFC East and the AFC West. This 2024 schedule has some of the most historic franchises on it with games that the Browns rarely see.

The 2024 road schedule will feature the three AFC North visits to Cincinnati, Pittsburgh and Baltimore which are all great trips if you haven't made them. Outside of those, here are my top three destinations on the 2024 schedule.

1. Cleveland @ Philadelphia, October 13th, 2024

For football junkies, seeing a game at Lincoln Financial is a must and it has been a long time since Cleveland visited Eastern Pennsylvania. The last time the Browns and Eagles played each other in a regular season game in Philly, the starting quarterback for Cleveland was one Robert Griffin III. It was a Week One game that Philadelphia controlled from start to finish. Get yourself a cheesesteak, do the Rocky Steps and catch the Browns in Philadelphia.

2. Cleveland @ Denver, December 2nd, 2024

Pack your skis and snowboard and head to the Rocky Mountains to catch the Browns' Week 13 matchup between the Broncos and Browns. It will be Jerry Jeudy's return to his old home and outside of the fact that the Broncos will be down this year, that stadium and scenery are an absolute must-see. Empower Field at Mile High is number two on my list.

3. Cleveland @ Las Vegas, September 29, 2024

Viva! Cleveland heads to the desert at the end of September to roll the dice against the Las Vegas Raiders. Again, the Browns should be favorites in this ball game against a Raiders team that is going to have a down season. You will get perfect fall weather and a chance to see the spectacle that is Allegiant Stadium.

There is no wrong answer for any away game that you decide to go to, but any of these three should be at the top of the list.
