TMZ TOUR NYC (New York City) - All You Need to Know BEFORE You Go

The New TMZ Tour NYC

Taxis in NYC

Did you know that it costs about $4 million to take out an ad in Times Square for a year? Or that Sir Elton John has played at Madison Square Garden 62 times? How about that Macy's has the second largest shoe collection the world, with 300,000 pairs? For those interested in such things – and lots of other New York City and celebrity trivia – the TMZ Tour might be your favorite new Manhattan attraction.

From the same people who created the celebrity gossip web site and similarly irreverent (that’s putting it mildly…) TV show, comes a tour specifically designed for the celeb-obsessed. The buses come equipped with video monitors that play clips from previous television episodes, and tour guides take it from there. Some of the tour guides have even been on the show itself, and are just as punchy, witty, and downright vulgar – TMZ founder Harvey Levin would be proud. The tone of the tour mimics the show, so if you are traveling with children (depending on their age), it's probably not the best idea to bring them with you on the tour.

Travel from Times Square to SoHo, and Chelsea to the West Village, where you'll see the apartments of celebs like Jay Z and Beyoncé, Uma Thurman, Katie Holmes, and the late Heath Ledger. Find out which park Sarah Jessica Parker takes her twins to, and which club Lindsay Lohan frequents (and is frequently thrown out of).

Guests are encouraged to celebrity spot during the tour, too, so you could catch a glimpse of Katie Holmes taking Suri to gymnastics practice at the NY Trapeze School, or Lady Gaga returning to her roots at The Bitter End nightclub. (Our guide recommended the Meatpacking District for the city's best celeb-spotting in general.)

The two hour tour costs $49 for adults and $39 for children 11 and under. Tours run Monday–Friday at 10am or 1pm, and Saturday–Sunday at 1pm or 4pm.

Would you go on the TMZ tour?

The TMZ New York City Bus Tour, By the Numbers

tmz tour bus new york

It’s here. After building on its tawdry brand with an open-air Hollywood van tour, TMZ has expanded east with a twice-daily New York City bus voyage around Manhattan. It’s not your British uncle’s sightseeing tour, skipping the historical addresses in favor of Dash (if you don’t know, don’t go, probably) and an apartment that once belonged to Rachel Uchitel (like we said … ). Pitched as a “one-of-a-kind show on wheels,” we had to see it. It wasn’t a letdown, per se , but it definitely wasn’t for everyone. Let us count the   ways.

Seats on the bus: 52 Total people on our 1 p.m. Wednesday tour, including Ricky (the tour guide) and Jacques (the driver): 13 Total people on the bus who were not being paid to be there: 7 BuzzFeed employees: 2 Number of dollars the non-media people paid to be there: 49 Middle-aged Canadian men by themselves:   1

  • Scottie Scheffler charged with assault of a police officer in PGA Championship mess

S cottie Scheffler looked somber while wearing an orange jail shirt in a mugshot photo after the world’s No. 1 golfer was arrested outside of Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville, Ky., ahead of the second round of the PGA Championship on Friday.

The 27-year-old pro was booked and processed at 7:28 a.m. ET into metro corrections on four charges — second-degree assault of a police officer, third-degree criminal mischief, reckless driving and disregarding signals from officer directing traffic, according to ESPN.

Scheffler was arrested “after refusing to stop at a traffic barricade trying to get into Valhalla. That traffic barricade was set up after a pedestrian was hit and killed by a shuttle bus,” a reporter for WDRB, a local Louisville outlet, wrote on X.

“The officer who asked Scottie Scheffler to stop at a police barricade has minor injuries after Scheffler refused to stop and dragged the officer with his car,” the reporter added in a follow-up post. “The barricade was set up after a pedestrian was hit and killed outside of Valhalla golf course at 5am.”

Scheffler was detained by police around 5:45 a.m. while trying to get into the golf course amid a separate, unrelated incident involving an accident and a fatality.

As the two-time Masters champion was pulling into the course, a police officer started banging on the side of the car to get him to stop.

ESPN’s Jeff Darlington, who witnessed the ordeal, said Friday morning on “SportsCenter” that the scene involving Scheffler and the police unfolded “very quickly, very rapidly and very aggressively.”

Here is video that I took of Scheffler being arrested: https://t.co/8UPZKvPCCf pic.twitter.com/9Tbp2tyrJh

“When he didn’t stop, the police officer attached himself to the vehicle, Scheffler then traveled another 10 yards before stopping the car. The police officer then grabbed at his arm, attempting to pull him out of the car before Scheffler eventually opened the door, at which point the police officer then pulled Scheffler out of the car, pushed him up against the car and immediately placed him in handcuffs,” said Darlington, who also filmed the incident , in which Scheffler appeared to utter , “Please help me.”

“Scheffler was then walked over to the police car, placed in the back in handcuffs. Very stunned about what was happening. Looked toward me as he was in those handcuffs and said, ‘Please help me.’ He very clearly did not know what was happening in the situation.”

Scheffler was originally scheduled to play round two at 8:48 a.m. ET. The tournament was pushed back over an hour due to the accident and traffic.

He arrived back at Valhalla at 9:13 a.m. on Friday and is slated to tee off shortly after 10 a.m.

Upon his arrival, Scheffler said, “Love you, Marty,” to ESPN reporter Marty Smith as he entered the course.

Scheffler returned to the golf circuit this week following the birth of his first child with wife Meredith, a son named Bennett.

“I can’t really describe the feeling,’’ Scheffler said Tuesday before the start of the tournament. “At home it was a nice time to reflect a little bit on my career so far and where my life has gone. I married my high school sweetheart and I always wanted to play professional golf, and now I’m here. I was sitting there with a newborn in my arms and the green jacket in the closet. A pretty insane feeling.’”

Scheffler opened the PGA Championship with a 4-under 67 on Thursday. He eagled on the first hole .

The RBC Brooklyn Half draws thousands of runners

WABC logo

BROOKLYN (WABC) -- More than 28,000 runners gathered for the RBC Brooklyn Half on Saturday.

The event, which has existed for over four decades, celebrates New York City's most populated borough and takes runners on a 13.1-mile tour past iconic sites, including the Brooklyn Museum, Grand Army Plaza, and Prospect Park, ending on the famous Coney Island boardwalk.

Ryan Cutter of Brooklyn Track Club won the men's race in a winning time of 1:04:09, while Olympian Kim Conley won the women's race in 1:12:43, and S.C. Ferral of Brooklyn Track Club won the non-binary division in a time of 1:14:09.

Among the 28,000+ finishers were notable and inspiring runners, such as:

  • Jennifer Connelly: Award-winning actress
  • Nev Schulman: TV personality
  • Zac Clark: TV personality who ran on behalf of Release Recovery
  • Esmé and Schuyler Fox: Daughters of actor Michael J. Fox who ran on behalf of The Michael J. Fox Foundation
  • Christopher Lawrence: Mental health professional and guidance counselor who ran in honor of his late training partner
  • Sabine Bellevue: Brooklyn native who has found solace and healing through running and NYRR Group Training
  • Mandy Kwan: Marine Park NYRR Open Run member who has made running a family affair; ran with her mother and her three sons participated in the Boardwalk Kids Run

tmz tour bus new york

Known as the unofficial kickoff to summer, the RBC Brooklyn Half features thousands of runners from Brooklyn, many of whom are part of the borough's nearly 100 running clubs and highlight New York Road Runners' year-round presence in the borough.

The event started in 1981 with several hundred finishers on a course run entirely in Prospect Park and has since grown to be the country's largest half marathon in 2024. Approximately 20% of the finishers hailed from the borough.

Many of the Brooklyn-based finishers are part of the nearly 100 run clubs in the borough.

New York Road Runners , the New York City-based nonprofit, produces 60 adult and youth races annually, including the Brooklyn Half.

The RBC Brooklyn Half also inspired the next generation of runners with more than 1,000 youth ages 2-18 participating in the free Boardwalk Kids Run dashes and one-mile races on Ocean Parkway.

Migrants at packed roosevelt hotel bussed to other nyc shelters as dozens more arrive in midtown.

Thanks for contacting us. We've received your submission.

New York City’s new migrant “welcome center” at the former four-star Roosevelt Hotel in Midtown Manhattan was already slammed Monday with fresh arrivals.

Dozens of migrants were hauled in on buses, including about 20 in a yellow school bus, to be processed. Some were forced to wait on their bus for about a half-hour, apparently till the lines inside died down — while the lucky ones arriving around lunchtime got to eat in the landmark’s crystal-chandelier ballroom, where Guy Lombardo and his band used to famously perform “Auld Lang Syne” on New Year’s Eve.

“I want to stay here, but they are making us wait on the bus, and then they are taking us somewhere else,” said a 23-year-old single man from Venezuela who only gave his first name, Ulysses.

” ‘No,’ I told him, ‘I wanted to stay here,’ ” said the migrant, referring to a city worker at the hotel, which is only housing families.

“They are telling me I’m going somewhere else. I don’t know where. … I came here from Venezuela. We had to walk up across Mexico. It was a long trip, and at the end, I had to jump on ‘The Beast.’

” ‘The Beast’ is a train that you jump on while it is moving, and two men lost their legs while we tried. I don’t know where I’m going or where any of us are going — we all want to stay here in Manhattan,” he said.

Mayor Eric Adams said Monday morning that more than 800 asylum-seekers had already been through the landmark art-deco former hotel, which opened as a processing center Friday, near Grand Central Terminal.

“We opened the Roosevelt Hotel a few days ago, 800 rooms were filled or 800 people went in that location at a capacity of a little over 1,000 — that’s how smooth and quick this is moving,” Adams said at a news conference, where he was joined by Gov. Kathy Hochul in begging the White House for more help to deal with migrant crisis.

A City Hall rep later told The Post that the mayor misspoke and had meant to say 800 people had been processed at the hotel between Friday and Saturday. Officials declined to say how many families with children are currently housed at the hotel, which features just over 1,000 rooms.

tmz tour bus new york

More than 5,800 migrants arrived in the five boroughs in just last week alone, Adams said — on top of more than 60,000 who had come here since last spring.

Around 9 a.m. Monday, 18 asylum-seeking men in their late teens or early 20s boarded a city bus in front of the hotel bound for the Bronx, said the MTA supervisor overseeing the transport to The Post.

Over the next hour and a half, two other buses with more than 20 migrants each parked in front of sidewalk barriers outside the hotel, with their passengers waiting to be let in.

An argument erupted aboard one of the buses when an official told the migrants that the hotel was full and said he was taking them to another shelter in the Bronx.

migrants enter hotel

About 15 asylum-seekers then walked off the bus toward the direction of the Port Authority Bus Terminal across town, escorted by two coordinators.

At the Port Authority, on Eighth Avenue and West 42nd Street, barricades, tables and chairs that had previously been set up to create a makeshift migrant processing center on the first floor were cleared out.

A volunteer instead sat at a table featuring a map of Midtown, saying he was there to “direct [migrants] to Roosevelt Hotel.”

Back at the hotel, The Post also counted 72 men arriving there in small groups on foot during a three-hour time span. Several of the migrants were then ushered onto a Bronx-bound bus.

Another young Venezuelan man said in Spanish that he and four others had walked over from the bus terminal in search of the migrant center.

The employees standing in front of the Roosevelt asked them in Spanish, “Do you have any questions?”

“We’re looking where we’re supposed to go,” one of the men replied.

migrants on bus

The employees said “this door” and shuttled them inside.

A noon bus that arrived at the hotel to transport asylum-seekers elsewhere was delayed so that the travelers could eat lunch in the hotel’s storied ballroom , which features 27′ ceilings and sparkling chandeliers.

Lombardo and his Royal Canadians orchestra first performed “Auld Lang Syne” on New Year’s Eve in the ballroom in 1929, and the annual party was broadcast from the 5,700-square-foot space nationwide for decades, according to The Los Angeles Times .

“Well, there goes the schedule!” said an MTA worker about the lunch break. “But I guess people gotta eat, right?”

Eric Adams

After lunch, the bus, packed with 48 migrants bound for shelters in the Bronx and other parts of the city, was held long enough that several of the passengers got antsy and left the bus and walked with a worker to another location.

There was another bus waiting behind it, and several migrants then got off it and went into the hotel to be processed.

A man who only gave his first name, Francisco, said he is a 31-year-old father of five from Ecuador and was there with his wife.

“We leave Ecuador because the situation is unbearable. You can’t work. I’ve been assaulted several times. I used to be a taxi man. I also work on machinery. From Ecuador to Panama, to Costa Rica, we walk,” Francisco said, describing his arduous journey.

“Train from Veracruz in Mexico. … [Then] we walked. Then airplane to New York. Four and a half months. We want to stay here, but they are sending us to somewhere else. They don’t know where yet. We wait here.”

A father of four from Colombia briefly described his nearly-four month trek to New York, also.

“We traveled by airplane. We walked, and then when we get to the US, the immigration people put us on an airplane. We are being sent to the Hotel Stewart now. Here in Manhattan. I don’t know where we’re going after that,” said the man, who declined to give his name.

Another man, a father of five from Venezuela said he was going to the Roosevelt to be processed before heading off to Corona, Queens.

“We know some people there,” he said.

Migrants arrive at the Roosevelt Hotel Monday, May 22, 2023.

Hizzoner said the city’s efforts to house and shelter the influx of migrants had kept the crisis out of the view of most New Yorkers.

“That’s why unlike other cities, [you] don’t see people and families sleeping on streets, because we’ve been able to manage this crisis,” Adams said. “But it reaches a point where it becomes unmanageable.

“And we have stated it clearly: There was no more room in our city, and we’re looking at every available space, including vacant school buildings that was not being used.”

The city was recently forced to remove scores of migrants from public-school gyms across the boroughs after parents voiced safety and other concerns. Officials are reportedly considering housing some of the migrants on Rikers Island, as the city’s roughly 150 emergency sites, mostly hotels, are overflowing.

Adams’ joint appearance with Hochul marked the first time the governor has joined Hizzoner in calling on the Biden administration to help the city deal with its humanitarian crisis, which the mayor’s administration has estimated will cost taxpayers at least $4.3 billion through next spring.

The leaders demanded the federal government expedite work permits for migrants and provide more immigration judges to speed up the asylum process.

Meanwhile, a protest is planned Tuesday morning at the Kew Motor Inn in Kew Garden, Queens, where City Council candidate Jonathan Rinaldi said busloads of migrants were being dropped off.

“Our Property values, and our children’s safety are on the line,” said a press release issued by the Republican.

On Sunday, Suffolk County officials said they would take legal action to prevent migrants being bused there from the city, and an Onondaga County town supervisor upstate threatened to file a restraining order against New York City to prevent an influx there, according to CNY Central .

Two counties in the Hudson Valley – Rockland and Orange – successfully did just that last week to temporarily block Adams from sending migrants there.

Scottie Scheffler arrested by police before second round

World number one golfer Scottie Scheffler was charged with assaulting a police officer outside Valhalla Golf Club hours before starting his second round at the 2024 PGA Championship.

Scheffler — who was also charged with third-degree criminal mischief, reckless driving, and disregarding traffic signals from an officer directing traffic — was released by police just in time to take to the course for his tee-off time of 10:08am ET. He impressed with a five-under round of 66 that moved him into third, at nine-under for the tournament.

The Louisville Metropolitan Department of Corrections, who posted a mugshot of the 27-year-old, said he was booked in at 7.28am local time and released at 8.40am. Scheffler later described the incident as “a big misunderstanding”.

The start of Friday’s second round was delayed by 80 minutes because of an unrelated crash near the course . Louisville police said a shuttle bus had struck and killed a pedestrian outside the golf club. Louisville Mayor Craig Greenberg later named him as local man John Mills.

Xander Schauffele 36-hole leader at PGA Championship with Morikawa, Scheffler chasing

Xander Schauffele stepped onto the first tee Friday at Valhalla Golf Club after a historic first round at the PGA Championship. He shot a 9-under 62, giving him the 18-hole lead. It tied the men’s major scoring record, the lowest round in PGA Championship history.

Friday’s round for Schauffele didn’t smash records or set career-scoring bests. But it kept the 30-year-old atop the PGA Championship leaderboard heading into the weekend.

Schauffele shot a second-round 68, giving him the 36-hole lead. It’s the second consecutive week Schauffele led a tournament after 36 holes. Last week, Schauffele couldn’t secure the win, thanks to a dominant performance from Rory McIlroy.

The seven-time PGA Tour winner is looking for a different outcome this week, attempting to capture his first major championship.

Watch out for Bryson

This is the second time Bryson DeChambeau has started a major with back-to-back rounds in the 60s.

The other was his win at the 2020 U.S. Open.

Koepka records 8 birdies in second round

It was a roller coaster second round for Brooks Koepka.

He shot a 3-under 68, which consisted of eight birdies.

But it also included three bogeys and a double.

Koepka sits at 7-under-par, five off the lead held by Xander Schauffele.

Tiger birdies 18 but misses cut

Woods 7-over-par

Tiger Woods finished the 2024 PGA Championship at 7-over-par.

He shot a 6-over 77 in his second round.

But Tiger finished the PGA at Valhalla, where he won this event in 2000, with a birdie on 18.

Woods hasn't made a cut at the PGA since 2020.

Best 36-hole score to par in PGA Championship history:

2019 Brooks Koepka, -12 (led by seven)

2024 Xander Schauffele, -12

Here comes Koepka

Brooks Koepka had a double bogey on the par-5 10th.

He's rallied with three birdies since, including one on the par-4 15th.

Koepka has seven birdies on the day and is four off the lead at 8-under-par.

What's at stake for Robert MacIntyre

Robert MacIntyre has never previously been in the top 20 entering the third round of a major.

Where PGA champions need to be after 36 holes

31 of the last 34 winners of the PGA Championship have been in the top 10 through 36 holes.

Over the last 30 years, 91 percent of men's major winners have been in the top 10 entering the third round.

McIlroy going in the wrong direction

Rory McIlroy, who won the PGA the last time it was staged at Valhalla, is going in the wrong direction.

After being 1-under-par through 11 holes, McIlroy records a double-bogey 6 on the par-4 12th.

He is 4-under-par for the tournament, eight back of the lead.

Needs a strong finish coming in to get back in the mix.

Inside the most bizarre day in major golf with the arrest of Scottie Scheffler

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The most shocking day in golf major championship history began with a tragedy, and saw Scottie Scheffler, the No. 1 male player in the world, arrested, booked into a local jail and released in time to tee off.

It was just after 5 a.m. on a rainy Friday morning that police were called to the street outside of Valhalla Golf Club. A shuttle bus traveling down Shelbyville Road struck and killed John Mills, a local man working the PGA Championship for a tournament vendor.

The fatal wreck caused traffic to be shut down in both directions outside of Valhalla, which is hosting the major championship for the first time in a decade. Scheffler arrived at the scene an hour later, amid a steady rain and flashing police lights, seeking to enter the property and begin preparation for an 8:48 a.m. tee time for Round 2 of the PGA Championship. A police and security presence outside of a major championship routine is typical, even common. “I drive by cops like that probably 10 times a year,” one PGA Tour swing coach said, speaking on the condition of anonymity due to the sensitive nature of the matter.

What happened next was anything but common. When Scheffler, traveling eastbound, attempted to move his vehicle into the westbound lane, according to the Louisville Police Department arrest report, detective Bryan Gillis attempted to stop the vehicle. The police report said Scheffler continued forward, “dragging Detective Gillis to the ground,” and noted that he suffered injuries that required medical treatment, as well as irreparable damage to his $80 uniform pants. Jeff Darlington, an ESPN NFL reporter assigned to cover the second golf major of the year, happened to be on the scene and watched it unfold, reporting that Scheffler’s vehicle moved 10 to 20 yards before coming to a final stop.

Scheffler’s attorney, Steve Romines, said Scheffler was originally instructed to go in and that the officer directing traffic was not part of the event traffic detail. “So that’s where the miscommunication arose and that’s why we’re here,” Romines said Friday morning.

When Scheffler did stop, he lowered his window and the officer reached in, grabbed Scheffler’s arm and pulled the door open, Darlington reported. The officer then put Scheffler in handcuffs and pushed him against the car. As Scheffler was escorted toward a police car in the rainy dark, a video filmed by Darlington showed Scheffler turning to say, “Can you help?”

“You need to get out of the way,” another officer told Darlington. “Right now, he’s going to jail, and there’s nothing you can do about it.”

Schauffele drops a shot, lead is 1

Xander Schauffele makes his first bogey of the week.

The last player to go the first 36 holes of a PGA Championship without a single bogey is Hale Irwin in 1993.

Schauffele falls to 12-under-par, one ahead of Collin Morikawa.

Schauffele improves to 13-under-par

Xander Schauffele is now 13-under.

The lowest 36-hole score to par in men's major championship history is 14 under by Jordan Spieth at the 2015 Masters.

Will Zalatoris: Players discussed delaying, canceling PGA Championship second round

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A small group of players discussed not playing the second round of the PGA Championship as scheduled following the death of a pedestrian outside of Valhalla Golf Club, as well as the arrest of world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler.

Will Zalatoris detailed the 20-30 minute conversation, which took place in the Valhalla locker room, to a small group of reporters after his round Friday afternoon. The group of unnamed players considered approaching the PGA of America about the cancellation or delay of Friday’s play, he said.

“Some of the guys were talking about, wondering if we should even play today,” Zalatoris said. “At one point there were a group of guys in the locker room talking about going to the PGA of America about it, but I think it was dead in the water in the locker room. It was bizarre. We just didn’t know … when Scottie was going to get out, any of the details.”

Tee times were delayed by one hour and 20 minutes on Friday after a shuttle bus struck and killed John Mills, who was working for a tournament vendor. The PGA moved the first tee times from 7:15 a.m. ET to 8:35.

During his Friday post-round news conference, Scottie Scheffler said that he was "going to go back to his normal routine." That includes having a meal, practicing in the afternoon, going to the gym before heading home and getting some rest before the weekend.

Well, the broadcast showed Scheffler practicing bunker shots and signing autographs for fans.

Scottie Scheffler climbs PGA Championship leaderboard hours after arrest

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Scottie Scheffler, the world’s most dominant golfer, rose up the leaderboard of the PGA Championship on Friday, hours after he was arrested while trying to navigate a traffic backup caused by a crash that killed a pedestrian outside Valhalla Golf Club.

In an extraordinary sequence of events over about three hours, Scheffler was handcuffed while arriving at the course before sunrise, booked while wearing an orange jumpsuit in downtown Louisville and driven back to the course with stunned crowds following his every move as his newly hired local lawyer told reporters that he would comply with an investigation into his interaction with a police officer who was directing traffic. Scheffler faces charges of second-degree assault of a police officer, third-degree criminal mischief, reckless driving and disregarding traffic signals from an officer directing traffic.

Scheffler’s day on the course finally began at 10:08 a.m. ET, when he teed off nearly four hours after his arrest. He went on to shoot a 5-under-par 66, climbing into a tie for third on the leaderboard. Scheffler, who said he began stretching in a jail cell Friday in hopes of returning to Valhalla in time for his tee time, said after the round his head was “spinning.”

“It was a chaotic situation and a big misunderstanding,” Scheffler said.

Following his second-round 66, Scottie Scheffler high-fived fans as he walked off the course to sign his scorecard.

Scottie Scheffler said he feels his head is “still spinning” after the sequence of events he experienced on Friday. He was arrested and handcuffed Friday morning while arriving at the course before sunrise, booked in an orange jumpsuit in downtown Louisville, then returned to Valhalla Golf Club and shot a second-round 66 at the PGA Championship.

Scheffler faces charges of second-degree assault of a police officer, third-degree criminal mischief, reckless driving and disregarding traffic signals from an officer directing traffic. His arraignment is scheduled for Tuesday at 9 a.m., according to online court records, two days after the PGA Championship is scheduled to end.

Asked to encapsulate what transpired, Scheffler described his pre-round routine, which took place in jail.

“I did spend some time stretching in a jail cell that was a first for me,” Scheffler said after his second round.

Scheffler said his “main focus after getting arrested” was whether he could continue playing in the PGA Championship. He said that he was in “shock” when he got arrested and that he was “shaking for an hour,” trying to calm down.

While getting fingerprinted in jail, Scheffler said a police officer offered him a sandwich.

“Sure, I’ll take a sandwich, I didn’t eat breakfast yet,” Scheffler said.

Scheffler teed off at 10:08 a.m., nearly four hours after his arrest. He described Friday's round as “pretty good.”

“It was nice to be able to put together a solid round today for sure,” Scheffler said.

This isn’t pleasant to watch: Tiger Woods, a 15-time major winner, has carded his second triple-bogey seven in the space of three holes.

This time his game deserts him on the fourth, having also bogeyed the third. He’s now eight over — seven over for the round — and his hopes of making it to the weekend are long gone.
