Pendleton Whiskey History

Created in 2003 to celebrate the spirit of the American cowboy, Pendleton Whiskey gets its name from Pendleton Round-Up which was officially started in 1910 in Pendleton, Oregon. The first year drew an attendance of 7000 people, and over time, the Round-Up grew in size, quickly expanding to accommodate tens of thousands of people. There were 50,000 people in attendance at the rodeo after World War II.

When your naming is tied to the Pendleton Round-Up, there is a lot to live up to. Pendleton Whiskey carried with its name a call to live life to the fullest – savoring adventure and the moments we keep as memories. The Pendleton Whiskey brand honors a heritage that inspires us to live boldly, drink well, and taste the moments, whenever we may be.

Where is Pendleton Whiskey made?

Pendleton is a Canadian whiskey imported and bottled by Hood River Distillers, one of Oregon’s oldest top-selling spirits producers, founded in 1934. The distillery is based near the Cascade Range in Hood River, Oregon.

After bottling and labeling, the whiskey is distributed by Proximo Spirits. Becle, S.A.B de C.V, owns Pendleton Whiskey.

How is Pendleton Whiskey made?

Pendleton Whiskey isn’t distilled in Oregon but is a brand of blended Canadian whiskey aged in oak barrels for at least three years and proofed with glacier-fed water sourced from Mt. Hood National Forest (Oregon’s highest peak). The spirit is imported at full cask strength before water is added to bring it down to bottled 80 proof.

Traditionally, Canadian whiskeys like this are called ‘rye,’ although no minimum percentage of rye-grain whiskey is required in a blend.

Pendleton Whiskey Variations

Born in the Great Northwest to celebrate the spirit of the American cowboy, Pendleton Whiskey blends Canadian whiskeys to achieve the inspired variations in flavor and character. The whiskey’s smooth taste and rich, complex flavor may be attributed to the fact that they use only the finest ingredients in all their variations. The three main Pendleton Whiskey variations are:

  • Pendleton Whiskey 20 years old Director’s Reserve - This spirit is aged for 20years, and every sip gives off warm notes of oak, cinnamon, and rye. The 20 years are worth it.
  • Pendleton Military Appreciation Bottle - This is a limited edition bottle from whose sales Pendleton donates $100,000 to the Bob Woodruff Foundation. This foundation creates healthy, positive features for service members, veterans, and their families.
  • Pendleton Midnight - This recently launched line extension matures a portion of the whiskey in former brandy barrels.

Tasting notes .

What to expect

Pendleton Whiskey is a sweet spirit that somewhat tastes like vodka mixed with caramel sauce. If you find that most whiskeys are too dry or too rough, you might like Pendleton Whiskey.

Let’s take a deeper look at the smell, color, and taste notes:

The smell is also unbelievably light and sweet all the way through. There are hints of caramel, toffee, vanilla, and artificial maple syrup with floral notes lurking behind the sweetness.

When poured into a glass, the Pendleton Whiskey has a bright gold appearance but looks a little darker inside the bottle. As you pour the whiskey, it tends to look transparent with thin, widely spaced legs.

The taste is spicy, aromatic, and grainy, with a medium-to-long smoky and sweet finish. The rye, char, malt, and oak pepper tones are near overpowering. The finish is sweet and syrupy, like allspice-infused corn syrup.

How to drink Pendleton Whiskey

Most whiskey enthusiasts prefer this easy-sipping style that cowboys have loved for years. Pendleton Whiskey is very sweet on its own, and so most people like to enjoy it unadulterated. This is the best way to enjoy all the flavors and feel all the aromas.

2. A little water or ice cubes

Water makes the rye spices clearer at the finish. Adding a bit of water tampers with the sweetness, giving way to more pronounced alcohol notes. Ice cubes open up the flavors but can somewhat thin the body if added in large amounts.

3. In cocktails

Pendleton Whiskey tastes great in cocktails, a great alternative if you’re not fond of drinking of the taste by itself.

When making a Pendleton Whiskey cocktail, shake the ingredients together well with ice, or you could add them to a blender and blend, then pour into a rocks glass. Don’t forget to garnish with a pineapple slice, lime wedge, cherry, or mint spring. These are all optional.

The Whiskey Rocks verdict.

Is it good?

Pendleton Whiskey is a fantastic sipping whiskey that’s aged in oak barrels.

Overall, Pendleton Whiskey is quite mellow and goes down smoothly without any harshness. If you enjoy different types of whiskeys and scotch, then you should like this particular whiskey too. It is also a good bargain for someone seeking a better brand that’s much older and drinkable than most Canadian whiskeys.

On the other hand, Pendleton Whiskey isn’t for you if you don’t have a sweet tooth or like primarily rye-based whiskeys. It has a somewhat overpowering rye spiciness and lots of sweetness – the first sip is very sweet with lots of brown sugar and molasses.

Pendleton Whiskey Review

Last Updated on March 8, 2024 by Lydia Martin

Whiskey, the liquid gold, has long been a symbol of craftsmanship and tradition. It’s not just a beverage; it’s an experience that evolves with every sip and in the tens of thousands of whisky brands, Pendleton Whisky stands as a testament to the art of distillation.

But if you have yet to try this bottled spirit, let me share my thoughts and what you need to know about this Canadian whisky in this Pendleton whisky review.

Table of Contents

Pendleton Whisky In-Depth Review

Man Drinking Pendleton Whiskey

Pendleton Whisky is a Canadian whisky distilled by Hood River Distillers in Oregon. It’s a commendable expression with 40% ABV, which I find approachable and versatile.

The nose greets with inviting hints of vanilla and oak, while the palate unfolds with sweet caramel and a touch of spice, making it an easy sipper. Its medium-length, sweet finish leaves a pleasant warmth.

“Sip the West: Pendleton Whisky is where rugged meets refined elegance.” – Liquor Laboratory

Pendleton Canadian Whisky doesn’t aim for complexity but excels in balance. It’s a reliable choice for newcomers and seasoned enthusiasts, ideal for sipping or crafting classic cocktails.

While not a top-shelf rarity, it embodies the spirit of the American West and tradition.

Pendleton Whisky Quick Facts

What’s pendleton whisky.

Pendleton Canadian Whisky is crafted with a touch of the Western spirit. It pays homage to the iconic Pendleton Round-Up, a rodeo event in Oregon, making it an official spirit of the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association [ 1 ].

This Canadian whisky is aged in American oak barrels for ten years in Canada but bottled by Hood River Distillers in Hood River, Oregon, and distributed by Proximo Spirits.

To achieve the bottling proof, they import the whisky at its full cask strength and dilute it with glacier-fed spring water from Mount Hood National Forest, Oregon’s highest peak.

Pendleton Whisky Tasting Notes

Pouring Pendleton Whiskey on a Jigger

Pendleton takes an aromatic embrace. It greets with subtle hints of vanilla, molasses, dark honey, and a touch of brown sugar and oak. The scent is inviting, giving a harmonious blend of flavors, which I like.

But the dominating factor here is the caramel and sweetness, giving caramel-flavored coffee syrup and maple syrup vibes.

As I took that initial sip, I immediately noticed the delightful wheel of flavors. The balance is commendable and unbelievably light, making it an easy drinker.

Sweet caramel, maple syrup, and allspice-infused corn syrup notes intertwine with the warmth of cinnamon and a hint of citrus.

The finish is where Pendleton Whisky truly shines. It provides a smooth, medium-length finish with a gentle, lingering warmth.

The presence of rye grain alcohol is there, but the pleasant cinnamon and burnt caramel sweetness beckons taking another sip.

My Thoughts

On the first sip.

It’s approachable and warm on my first sip, which I see fit for an average American drinker. The initial sweetness gives way to a mild spice, creating a well-rounded flavor profile.

Final Taste

With the last drop in my glass, Pendleton Whisky leaves a lasting impression. It’s not overly complex, but that’s its charm. It’s a whisky that anyone can enjoy (particularly an American cowboy, I must say).

It has molasses and allspice hints on top of the chemical aftertaste, but trust me – it’s versatile and ideal for sipping or mixing. But do you know what’s the worst Canadian whisky ?

My Rating on Pendleton Whisky: ★★★☆☆  (Mid-Shelf)

Pendleton Whisky sits comfortably on the mid-shelf of my rating scale. It’s a commendable whisky that offers a well-balanced flavor profile.

While it may not be the most exceptional whisky I’ve ever tasted with the finest ingredients, it’s far from disappointing.

It’s a reliable choice for casual sipping and crafting classic cocktails, particularly the Pendleton Midnight Whisky.

To Sip or Skip?

Man Drinking Pendleton Whisky

Pendleton is a SIP, and it’s worth savoring. If you appreciate smooth, easy-drinking whisky with a touch of rye spice, this one’s for you.

“We are very pleased with how the Pendleton Whisky brand has grown over the past fifteen years.” – Ronald R. Dodge, CEO of Hood River Distillers

It’s a good bargain if you’re seeking a better brand that’s aged and approachable than most Canadian whisky expressions.

However, if Pendleton Whisky is not your style, you might be interested in these alternatives:

  • Buffalo Trace Bourbon:  A classic bourbon with a rich and complex flavor profile.
  • Crown Royal Canadian Whisky:  Another Canadian whisky with a smooth and approachable taste.
  • Bulleit Rye Whiskey:  If you enjoy rye whiskey, Bulleit offers a spicy and flavorful experience.

How Do You Drink Pendleton Whisky?

Pendleton whisky is a versatile spirit that you can drink in various ways:

  • Neat:  Sip it slowly and savor the flavors on their own.
  • On the Rocks:  Pour it over ice on your glass to balance the rye spice.
  • With a Splash of Water : Water makes rye spices clearer, balancing the sweet tones.
  • In Cocktails:  Use it to craft classic cocktails like the Old Fashioned or Whiskey Sour.

Pendleton Drinking Guide: Sip Through the Wild West

by Matthew Wastradowski | Aug 28, 2019

There’s no denying: At its core, Pendleton is a whiskey town. Pendleton Whisky , the Canadian whisky sharing the iconic bucking horse logo with the 109-year-old Pendleton Round-up , can be found nearly everywhere in town.

And, sure, you should enjoy the blended brown liquor at least once while in Pendleton. But in recent years, a new generation of distillers, brewers, vintners and entrepreneurs has lined up alongside some of the city’s historic outposts to produce or sell a suite of craft beverages — with most using ingredients grown around Pendleton and throughout Eastern Oregon.

So with Pendleton Round-up coming up soon after Labor Day — the rodeo is the city’s biggest tourist draw each year — here’s a guide to some of the best beers, wines, cocktails and more for sipping your way through the city’s Wild West-inspired nightlife.

Pendleton’s lone beer bar promises the city’s largest selection of craft beer on tap, showcasing a selection of up to (surprise!) 40 taps at any given time. Broadly speaking, the tap list eschews hard-to-find and small-batch beers for classic ales and lagers from the Pacific Northwest’s best-known breweries, including Widmer Brothers Brewing, Boneyard Beer, Barley Brown’s Beer and Deschutes Brewery.

And because this is still Pendleton, you’re likely to find Coors Light, Bud Light, Pabst Blue Ribbon and Rainier on draft, as well.

Hamley Saloon

The Hamley family name is synonymous with the city of Pendleton — and has been since 1905, when Hamley & Co. opened a saddle and Western apparel store in the heart of downtown.

More than a century later, the nearby Hamley Steakhouse & Saloon pays tribute to that history with an atmosphere right out of the Old West. The saloon sports a 100-year-old mahogany bar, ornate woodwork and intricate stained glass.

But not everything about Hamley Saloon is a throwback. The elegant bar got in on the craft beverage revolution with Hamley Whiskey , an Oregon-made whiskey crafted with local wheat for a softer flavor, and it’s the only place you’ll find Hamley’s Own Ale — a Maibock brewed by Rogue Ales in Newport, Oregon, exclusively for the steakhouse and saloon.

Oregon Grain Growers Brand Distillery

Try some of the spirits and cocktails at Oregon Grain Growers Brand Distillery , and you’re not just drinking a locally sourced vodka, whiskey or gin — you’re sipping your way through the farms of Eastern Oregon.

Pendleton’s only craft distillery opened in 2016 and prides itself on using ingredients from — and showcasing — area growers whenever possible. “I see a lot of distilleries that say, ‘This was grown within 500 miles of the distillery,’” says Rodney Bullington, who co-owns the distillery with his wife, Kelli, and their cofounders, Cliff and Judy Bracher. “And I’m like, ‘Sweet! [This was grown] 500 yards away, right up on the hill here.’”

He isn’t kidding: One of Oregon Grain Growers’ wheat suppliers sits on a hill overlooking town, just a five-minute drive from the distillery. The idea of “local” is at the heart of everything Oregon Grain Growers does, which includes collaborating with a local coffee shop on a java-flavored vodka and slapping the names of its suppliers on each bottle.

The Prodigal Son Brewery and Pub

Tim and Jennifer Guenther moved to Pendleton in 2007, and the husband-and-wife team recalls looking around town and trying to figure out their next step. Soon after the move, Tim recalls visiting Terminal Gravity Brewing , nestled in the heart of the Wallowa Mountains — two hours east of Pendleton — and wondering how the busy brewery made it work in a town of 2,000. “How the hell can they support a brewery, and Pendleton doesn’t have anything?” he says he remembers thinking. “Pendleton is definitely a whiskey town more than a beer town, but still: There’s enough people here to support craft beer.”

Three years later, Tim and Jennifer opened Pendleton’s first craft brewery: The Prodigal Son Brewery and Pub . The first beer on tap was Wheatstock hefeweizen, a nod to the region’s wheat farmers (and named for a music festival in the nearby town of Helix). “Everyone I know is a wheat farmer, and I used to work on wheat farms,” Tim says. “So we gotta have a good wheat beer.”

Since then, The Prodigal Son has expanded its horizons to include a fruity wheat ale (brewed with a different berry each season), a seasonal dubbel, hop-forward IPAs and more.

Rainbow Cafe

The dive-y Rainbow Cafe is the sun around which the rest of Pendleton’s nightlife orbits. The town’s oldest bar slings hearty American fare and stiff drinks in a building that dates back to 1880 — and has been doing so for more than 125 years.

Wild West memorabilia — photos of past Pendleton Round-up winners, stirrups, even a bison head — shares wall space with colorful neon and a clock that helpfully displays the current time in Dublin, Ireland. Not for nothing: the Rainbow Cafe hosts what it calls “the shortest parade in the world” every St. Patrick’s day. The “parade” gathers across Main Street, crosses the street, and heads directly into the café for breakfast and Irish coffee.

The café is known for its pressure-cooked fried chicken and the full bar covers the gamut of good drinks — from Pendleton Whisky and all your favorite liquors to regional craft beer and domestic lagers.

Scarlet Oak Barrels

Rick Sewell had admired the Pacific Northwest’s thriving wine scene for years when he lost his job in the Great Recession of 2009. With the chance for a fresh start, he saw an opportunity to follow his dreams and start a winery. Sewell crafted his first wines under the Scarlet Oak Barrels label in 2014 and, in 2018, opened a tasting room in downtown Pendleton.

Sewell prides himself on crafting unconventional varietals and blends — including a Malbec, Petit Verdot, Sangiovese and Terzetto, a blend of the three varieties — and has gained a devoted following for his fruit-forward styles.

Hood, will be distributed where Pendleton Whisky is available around the United States.

Discovering The History and Craftsmanship Behind Pendleton Whiskey

Pendleton Whiskey, the famous American bourbon brand, is more than just a great-tasting whiskey. It’s also an ode to the rich history of the American West and the traditional craftsmanship that goes into whiskey-making.

Founded in 2003, Pendleton Whiskey takes its name from the Pendleton Round-Up – a rodeo held annually since 1910 in Pendleton, Oregon. The founders of this decadent bourbon were inspired by the brave cowboys who risked their lives competing in this event and wanted to create a whiskey that embodied their courage and determination.

But what really sets Pendleton apart from other bourbons is the unique blend of grain, yeast, and water used to make it. To ensure that every bottle is of top-notch quality, Pendleton sources its ingredients exclusively from farmers who use sustainable farming practices.

The grains used are grown on local farms and processed, milling them into powder or grist. This makes it easier for them to absorb water from cooking; hence giving out their natural flavors during fermentation. The mixture comprises three types of yeast that work together to convert sugar into ethanol making it uniquely aromatic with hints of apple and banana at first sniff.

Once fermented, the liquid ages for several years in oak barrels sweltering inside Pseudozyma fungi as they impart rich tones along with different tannins that provide warmth and crispness thus forming a perfect balance which results in an exquisite taste profile executed only by master distillers. But don’t let all these technicalities fool you – drinking a glass of Pendleton Whiskey feels like taking a journey through time with each sip.

As Americans ousted themselves westward with expeditions like Lewis & Clark some two centuries ago; whiskey made during those times was harshly basic rustic using large amounts crude corn mash as base ingredient meaning it needed many impurities removed taking away whatever sense odor was present in order produce any good enough product not fit for drinking.

However Pendleton Whiskey challenges all these harsh realities with their subtle flavors of vanilla and caramel, distilled from ripe corn fields following well-established traditional procedures.

To get a sense of the history behind this delicious bourbon sported by people like Gerard Butler and Jake Gyllenhaal; simply take a sip and close your eyes to experience how being born in the most peaceful regions of Oregon back zog years ago inspire so much pleasure on rough roads nowadays as you dream away on horseback into those prolonged sunset hours.

In short, the combination of legacy, brewing technique, balanced flavors makes Pendleton Whiskey perfect not just for whiskey-lovers but anyone looking to indulge in an extra touch of class with their drinks. Whether you are after something simple to share among friends or planning to enjoy it alone watching breathtaking scenes unfold before you – sipping Pendleton Whiskey will always put everything else aside for a brief moment whilst enjoying iconic flavours that celebrate one hundred plus years worth of tradition !

Immersing Yourself in Western Heritage on The Pendleton Whiskey Tour

When it comes to whiskey, there are few brands as iconic and storied as Pendleton Whiskey. In fact, this beloved brand is so much more than just a beverage—it’s a cornerstone of Western heritage and an embodiment of the cowboy spirit.

If you’re looking to truly immerse yourself in this legacy, then there’s no better way to do it than by embarking on a Pendleton Whiskey tour. From fire pits to horseback rides, here’s what you can expect when you sign up for this unforgettable experience.

First things first: the spirit itself. During your tour, you’ll have plenty of opportunities to sample Pendleton Whiskey straight from the source. But before you even take that initial sip, you’ll be struck by the whiskey’s unique character—crafted using glacier-fed spring water and aged in American oak barrels after blending.

But where many distillery tours might stop there (or perhaps offer a cursory nod towards their branding), Pendleton takes things to the next level. After all, we’re not just talking about whiskey—we’re talking about a whole culture and lifestyle that surrounds it.

Take, for example, the Pendleton Round-Up Grounds. For over 100 years, this venue has been playing host to one of America’s most celebrated rodeos—a true testament to Western grit and determination. And during your tour, you’ll get an insider’s look at these hallowed grounds, complete with access to live events and plenty of photo opportunities.

Of course, no visit to Pendleton would be complete without some exploration on horseback—as any good cowboy or cowgirl knows! Fortunately, the company offers guided trail rides through stunning natural landscapes—the perfect way to channel your inner adventurer.

And when night falls? That’s when things really start heating up (literally). Picture yourself gathered ’round a towering fire pit alongside fellow whiskey aficionados—swapping stories and sharing laughs into the wee hours. It’s a quintessential Western experience that simply can’t be beat.

When it all comes down to it, the Pendleton Whiskey tour is about so much more than just sampling spirits (although that in itself is certainly delightful!). It’s about diving headfirst into a culture, tradition, and way of life—one that remains just as relevant and inspiring today as it did centuries ago. So saddle up and get ready for one unforgettable journey into the heart of Western heritage.

A deep dive into the 2023 Pendleton Whisky Music Fest

By Terry Murry on Tuesday, July 18th, 2023 in Columbia Basin News More Top Stories

visit pendleton whiskey

PENDLETON – The city’s population doubled during the Pendleton Whisky Music Fest this past weekend. Founders Doug Corey and Andy McAnally credit the more than 900 people who work behind the scenes to make it a success.

“It was an exciting show with Dylan Schneider, Maddy and Tae, and Niko Moon kicking it off,” Corey said. “(That was) followed by an outstanding and very energetic performance by Flo Rida. When he went offstage and into the crowd he was enjoying himself and the crowd enjoyed seeing him up close.”

Corey said that Flo Rida was one of the best support groups the event has ever had.

“Our headliner, Kane Brown, put on another wonderful show,” Corey said. He did a superb job. Instead of any encore he signed autographs on shirts, hats, shoes, and whatever anyone threw up on the stage, and took selfies of himself and people in the crowd. It was a hit.”

The Friday night party on Main Street was also a success. Called the Party in Pendleton, an estimated 5,000 to 6,000 people partied on Main Street with two bands and a disc jockey.

Behind the scenes

McAnally and Corey credit their sponsors with supporting them over the past seven years.

“Our sponsors are like family to us,” McAnally said. “We could not do this event without them.”

Pendleton Whisky is the title sponsor, but there’s a long list of other supporters of the festival. They are Hill Meat Company, Wildhorse Resort & Casino, McCormack Construction, Legacy Jeep, Bud Light, Old West Federal Credit Union, Coca Cola ®, Wheatland Insurance Center, Hodgen Distributing, CHI/St. Anthony Hospital, Guild Mortgage, Sysco, Pioneer Title, Gordon’s Electric, Pape Machinery, 10 Barrel Brewing Company, Oxford Suites, Farm Equipment Headquarters, First Student, and The Outlying Perspective.

That’s not the only support that makes the two-day celebration possible though. Both founders stress that those who play vital roles in putting the show on are not volunteers. They are either paid or the group they represent receives a donation.

“It takes a lot of manpower,” Corey said. “For example, selling water to benefit local youth baseball, having the Pendleton High School baseball team clean the chairs and grandstand, the Weston-McEwen football team laying sod on Friday morning, and then back on Sunday to pick it all up. Then we give it away to anyone that wants sod after the show. Parents from Weston-McEwen help set up big tents and another group of Weston-McEwen parents put seat tags on chairs and zip tie chairs together. Young Life takes on the duties of parking RVs. These are just a few of the examples of the help we have.”

A list of those who benefit while helping to make Whisky Fest possible also includes Pendleton Rotary, the Pilot Rock Trap Team, Altrusa of Pendleton, Pendleton on Wheels, Knights of Columbus, Pendleton High School Girls Basketball, Rhythmic Mode, Jr. Jam, Black Sox baseball, Pilot Rock Senior Parents, Pilot Rock Athletics, Milton Freewater Wrestling, the Kiwanis Club, and the Main Street Cowboys, to name a few.

There are also those groups selling concessions inside the Round-Up Grounds. For example, Randy Thomas for the Pendleton Assembly of God concession booth said the seventh Pendleton Whisky Music Fest was a success.

“Our best year yet,” Thomas reported. “We raised a lot of money for our Celebrate Recovery to serve our community. We really appreciate the opportunity provided by the hard work that goes into this event.”

Safety comes first

“We have about 160 security people on the grounds to make this as safe an environment as possible,” Corey said. “We use mag scanners to check people as they enter the grounds. This year we had a bomb-sniffing dog brought in by the Oregon State Police to check things out before opening the gates.”

Feeling comfortable is also important to feeling safe. With temperatures reaching the triple digits, Corey said they scattered misting stations around the grounds and established water refill stations as well as putting out large, water-cooled fans.

“We wanted people to stay cool and drink a lot of water,” Corey said. “If any medical issues were to arise, we have two medical rooms available and staffed and there are medics stationed all around the grounds.”

Organizers take care of the campers as well. Corey said a crew circulates through the RV and tent camping sites, filling swimming pools and delivering ice.

“We have also provided a free shuttle service from the campsites to Main Street,” Corey said. “We want people to avoid driving if they have had anything to drink. All of our staff work extremely hard to make their stays in Pendleton memorable.”

WHEELING — The Professional Bull Riders Pendleton Whisky Velocity Tour returns to WesBanco Arena in Wheeling this weekend for two days of action beginning at 8 p.m. today, Friday, March 15, and 8 p.m. Saturday, March 16.

Presented by Oglebay Resort, this year’s PBR Pendleton Whisky Velocity Tour stop will mark the tour’s 10th visit to Wheeling.

For two nights only, the best bull riders in the world will duel with the rankest bovines born to buck in an unpredictable, must-see David vs. Goliath showdown.

The PBR events do not take place a rodeo format. It is two hours of pyro, music and the most intense bull riding action the world has to offer, filled with heart-pounding, bone-crushing action, and a star-studded lineup of the world’s best riders and animal athletes.

Last year in Wheeling in front of a raucous, sold-out crowd at WesBanco Arena, Alex Marcilio of Macaubal, Brazil, rode supreme, picking up his second Velocity Tour win of the season courtesy of a 2-for-3 performance.

One of nine riders to make the cut in an action-packed weekend, Marcilio entered the final day of competition tied for third after covering Crossin the Delta Line in Round 1. After faltering in Round 2, the Brazilian rallied and rocketed to the top of the leaderboard by recording the only ride in the final round for 85.5 points on Keep’em Guessin.

Professional riders from across the U.S. and around the world will appear during the weekend’s events.

Michael Lane of Tazewell, Virginia, finished third last season in Wheeling, and this year, the veteran enters WesBanco Arena after competing on the elite Unleash The Beast for the past three weeks. Looking to hone his craft after going a respectable 2-for-7 on the top tour, Lane rejoins the Pendleton Whisky Velocity Tour ranked No. 8 in the Velocity Global standings. One of the sport’s most determined contenders, Lane has battled through numerous injuries as he seeks one goal — to be crowned PBR World Champion. With his career beginning at the young age of 4, fast forward nearly 30 years, and Lane has excelled on some of bull riding’s biggest stages, a feat he dreamt of as a child. This weekend, he looks to continue his success in Wheeling, where he has competed seven times and recorded four Top 10 finishes.
