Boat Destinations to Visit From Dubrovnik

Koločep island (elaphiti).

Blue Cave is a special destination, located on the outer side of Koločep. It is accessible only by a boat.

Light plays with the sea there, to create a beautiful effect; The sea in the cave has an amazing blue colour, that is created by sunlight breaking in the sea.

Located on the western side of Koločep island; Donje Čelo is an amazing place to watch the sunset.

It is a small town, counting only 100 residents approximately. It offers a nice sandy beach and a seaside walking path.

Lopud Island (Elaphiti)

Šunj Beach is one of the few sandy beaches near Dubrovnik. Most of other beaches are made out of small rocks, due to the rocky coast. However, this beach is under the sandy hill, that is responsible for the creation of the beach, together with the sea.

There are no houses or residents near the beach, only some restaurants and bars. There is not a pier, where one could tie the boat. This means that in order to go to the beach, you will have to swim around 50 meters in shallow sea, or simply enjoy the swim around our yacht..

Lopud is a town located on the island that carries the same name. There are around 250 resedients.

It is a perfect place to enjoy the ice cream while admiring the old stone architecture.

Šipan Island (Elaphiti)

Suđurađ is a small fisherman town on Šipan. It is beautified with the stone architecture and numerous historical monuments. The town counts around 200 inhabitants, with the primary occupations in fishing and agriculture.

Suđurađ is also a home to one of the best restaurants in Dubrovnik area - Konoba Stara Mlinica. With the terrace located only a few steps from the sea, and the fresh caught fish, served with the vegetables grown in their own field; Konoba Stara Mlinica is our choice of recommendation for the lunch on one of our 8-hour long yacht tours.

Lunch price is not included in the yacht tour price.

Mljet Island

Mljet national park.

Declared as a national park in 1960; It was the first organised attempt to protect the important ecosystem in the Mediterranean.

Part of the reason for the protection are the lakes, which are located on the island, and one of them features its own little island with the ancient monastery on it.

Some parts of the park are free to visit since it covers areas like villages and ports. However, to visit the lakes and the Isle of St. Mary, you will need to pay the ticket.

Tour price does not include the ticket price.

Pomena is a small village on Mljet Island. It counts just over 30 residents. It is a port where our yacht can stop in order to get you close to the paid part of Mljet National Park.

Marčuleti Bay

Marčuleti Bay offers a remote sandy beach. The beach is beautiful, and usually not visited by many people.

A part of one episode of HBO's Succession TV series was filmed on the beach.

Happiness Promise

There are hundreds of thousands of guides and tour operators around the world. Figuring out who to trust is stressful and hard.

That’s why we started 10Adventures Tours, we’re here to make it easy to find a great guide or tour operator. We handpick the best local guides and tour operators for 10Adventures, working to ensure you have great guides and a great trip.

We know it sucks to show up in a different country and find out the tents are junk, the guide incompetent or the route different from what we thought we were getting.

We want to give our users peace of mind that you’ll have a great trip and offer a guarantee that we will work with you to make it right.

How does this work? Well, if you feel that something about your trip didn’t’ meet your expectations, let us know. We will then work to gather the details and figure out where things went wrong. If something indeed wasn’t as described, or went wrong with your trip, and the problem was within the control of either oursleves, the guide or the tour company, we will then work out a refund with you that’s proportional to the scale of the problem.

Obviously the best way to make a great trip is to tell your local guide or tour operator and give them the chance to fix the solution while you are on your trip. Most things can be solved by telling your guide when the issue develops. If that doesn’t solve it, then email us right away. Please don’t wait to voice your concerns until the trip is over, as it’s much harder to solve issues after the fact.

We work hard to make sure you have a great trip. If something isn’t right, please email  [email protected]  and we will get to work right away.

How does a week aboard a private sailboat in the Adriatic Sea? This incredible sailing tour comes with your own private skipper, who will take you on a week-long journey off the coast of Croatia, exploring the Adriatic and wonderful islands that Croatia is well-known for.

Croatia is renowned for its heavenly islands in the Adriatic Sea; in fact, several regattas occur in this country every year. And if you’re a sailing enthusiast who also likes celebrating on the water, you’ve probably heard of Sail Week. This sailing adventure tour gives you a taste of life on the water!

The archipelago off the coast of Croatia boasts an exceptional array of islands to visit. This 7-day sailing tour will bring you to uninhabited nature reserves, stunning private swimming spots, and fascinating medieval towns. You embark from Split and sail around the Croatian coastline, spending some nights docked in some of the best marinas in Croatia as you approach Dubrovnik – the jewel of the Adriatic Sea.

You can customize this tour to suit your preferences. Do you want an authentic nautical experience on a standard sailboat? Or are you looking for a tour where you can relent responsibility, have food service, and just relax? Either way, you’ll find a vessel to suit your needs. You’re the master of this tour!

On a sailing adventure, be prepared to live at sea, noting that you’ll be subject to the motion of the waves for the duration of the tour. During the trip, guests are responsible for their activities. Some fixed itineraries include snorkelling, as listed below, but you can customize this tour to your preferences. The following itinerary is an example of a 7-day tour; that said, these itineraries are flexible, and you can charter a boat for as long as you want!

Itinerary for Sailing from Split to Dubrovnik Tour

Sail hvar island.

Meet your Skipper in Split and board your charter for a week on the water! Get your first glimpse of the wondrous Adriatic Sea as you sail towards Hvar, one of the most popular islands in the Dalmatian archipelago. Upon berthing in Hvar town, the area is your oyster. Choose to disembark and stroll through the Venetian architecture, find an inviting spot to have a drink, or just stay on the boat for a private view of the sunset.

Spend a day discovering the natural treasures and history of Vis Island. Your Skipper can bring you to hidden coves that house gorgeous white-sand beaches. Get your snorkelling gear out here—the water is calm and clear, and it’s a favourite spot for divers. Keep your eyes peeled for the Mediterranean monk seal on your underwater exploration! Vis town in the northern part of the island retains its rich history through its numerous monuments, fortresses, and bunkers—Vis Island played a role in the Second World War and was used as a naval base for Yugoslavia until they abandoned it in 1989.

Lastovo Nature Park

Head to one of Croatia’s fantastic Nature Parks, and get a unique vantage point from the sea as you circumnavigate this archipelago. Admire the rugged coastlines, vibrant green forest, and of course, the clear cobalt sea beneath it all. Stop for swimming and a visit to the old town where few inhabitants remain because the island is so remote. Keep your eyes out for the lighthouse in the southern part of the island.

Korcula Island

Just north of Lastovo Nature Park sits Korcula Island, home to the fascinating Korcula town with medieval walls still built around it. Less populated than the other Dalmatian islands, you’ll experience fewer crowds but the same idyllic island vibes. Find a spot this evening to see a spectacular sunset over the Adriatic Sea.

Mljet National Park

Imagine water so clear that you can see the anchor of your ship on the ocean floor. That’s what it will be like when you sail up to Mljet National Park. Spend a relaxing day on the ship or stop at one of the private coves to swim or snorkel in the inviting turquoise waters. Or, if you want to get your legs moving after a few days at sea, take a walk on the preserved trails through the white rocks and Mediterranean brush covering the small island.

Elafiti Islands

As if you haven’t had enough of turquoise waters and white pebble beaches, your last full day includes a tour of the Elafiti Islands, a small archipelago near Dubrovnik in southern Croatia. Cruise around in your boat and find the best spot for a refreshing dip in the sea.

Dock in Dubrovnik

Sadly, your 7-day sailing adventure tour has come to an end. Dock in Dubrovnik to disembark after a glorious week at sea in the Dalmatian Islands.

Note: It’s possible to end this 7-day tour with a return trip to Split.

Dalmatian Coast Adventure Dubrovnik to Split (one way) Sailing Holidays

A Croatian sailing holiday is made that little bit extra special when it includes a visit to Croatia's most famous and most beautiful city - Dubrovnik. Dubrovnik is to the far south of Croatia, not far from the Montenegro boarder, and is famous for it's old town with impressive city walls situated right on the Adriatic coastline.

This one-way itinerary will take you through some of Croatia's highlights - a one-way route is generally a great way to see more of a country, although one-way itineraries are only available on request - so please make sure you ask us when enquiring!

Request a charter quote from The Big Sail and we'll recommend the best sailing destinations for you.

DUBROVNIK TO SPLIT, CROATIA SAMPLE 7-DAY ONE-WAY SAILING ITINERARY

Arrival & check-in, aci dubrovnik marina, dubrovnik.

Stock your charter yacht & unpack, then explore this beautiful old town with it’s baroque buildings and ancient city walls. Take the cable car from the back of the town and take in spectacular views from the top, then take a walking tour or simply go up onto the city walls and see the city from every angle. Enjoy dinner with a stunning view over the Adriatic, then explore some the city’s bars & restaurants – many are hidden within it’s walls.

Mljet Island

Situated in the middle of stunning National Park, there are a couple of bays, perfectly situated between Korcula and Dubrovnik. Choose between Okuklje with it’s hidden bay and fantastic restaurant, or Polače/Pomena – both set in the heart of the national park. There is the option to hire bikes and cycle through the national park, and visiting a monastery in the middle of a lake on the island is a spectacular excursion (it’s on an island within an island, which is pretty cool in it’s own right!).

Korčula Town, Korčula

Sometimes referred to as a ‘mini Dubrovnik’, Korčula is a medieval town buzzing with restaurants & bars, on an island known for it’s vineyards and wine production. The marina here is one of the best equipped, with good loos & showers within the marina, and there are some really great restaurant options in town for the evening. If you can find the cocktail bar situated on top of an old castle turret then you’re in for a treat! Be warned though, you have to climb up a ladder to get up there – it’s often easier to get up than get back down!

Vis Town, Vis

Vis is one of our favourite places to visit – a little quieter than nearby Hvar or Split, it offers the chance to explore hidden beaches, caves and even an abandoned submarine base. You need to arrive early (by 2pm) as it gets busy in June to mid-September, so if you’re running behind schedule or just fancy a slower-paced day maybe head for the Pakleni islands instead where you will find an abundance of spots to drop anchor in all wind directions.

Anchor for the night, Pakleni Islands

There are so many bays and inlets on these largely uninhabited islands and they make the perfect place to drop anchor and cook dinner onboard under the stars. If you fancy a fully serviced marina instead, book a berth in ACI marina Palmizana, or another great option is to secure a buoy in the bay of Vinogradišće on the south side of the island chain (opposite Palmizana), where there is a great choice of restaurants on shore which you can easily reach by dinghy.

Well known for it’s beautiful architecture as well as it’s vibrant nightlife – this stunning island town rarely disappoints. Climb to the old fortress above the town for spectacular views, then sip cocktails at one of the many waterfront bars before enjoying one of the finest meals in Croatia. If you’re still going after all that – dance the night away at Kiva bar or Carpe Diem Beach Club. If you’re after somewhere a little quieter try Stari Grad on the north coast of Hvar island, but there’s lots to do for everyone of all ages in this busy, vibrant town.

Day 7 (Option 1)

The biggest and most vibrant destination on this route, Split is a busy tourist destination in it’s own right. The old town is steeped in history, with winding narrow streets and traditional restaurants hidden round each corner. Visit the Diocletian’s palace in the heart of the old town, walk around the maze of streets and try not to get lost! Alternatively you can end this itinerary in Trogir (see below).

Day 7 (Option 2)

As an alternative final destination to Split, some one-way charters end in Trogir, just along the coast from Split. If you have a preference between Split or Trogir we will make sure we book you a yacht which ends in your preferred destination. Trogir is a lovely and historic town with UNESCO World Heritage status. The old town is actually a tiny island accessible by bridges, and is full of independent shops, restaurants & lively bars, so it’s a great place to spend a night!
