From building your dream home to starting a family, The Sims 4 gives you plenty of ways to live out your virtual dream life. But if you’ve been playing the game since it launched years ago, you’re probably ready to dive into some of its lesser-known content – including making a visit to your local hospital.

But how do you go to the hospital in The Sims 4 , and is it accessible to all players? Here’s what you need to know before heading to the ER.

How to go to the hospital in 'The Sims 4'.

Before you set out on an adventure to find the hospital in The Sims 4 , you’ll need to purchase the "Get to Work" expansion. This DLC pack brought several new careers and locations to the game, including the Willow Creek Hospital. Once you’ve purchased the expansion and installed it to your device, head over to the Civic Center neighborhood in Willow Creek and you’ll be able to explore the Willow Creek Hospital.

The hospital doesn’t have too much content compared to the base game, but you'll definitely see plenty of doctors, technicians, nurses, and other staff members hustling through its halls. You can also interact with different objects to have various medical procedures performed on your character, such as a general health checkup. And, if you’re a nurse or doctor, you’ll get a first-hand look at their place of employment.

How to visit the hospital in 'The Sims 4' base game.

If you don’t own the "Get to Work" expansion, you won’t get to actually set foot in the hospital. However, your character can still visit the hospital in The Sims 4 base game by going into labor. This will give you the option to send them to the hospital for childbirth, although you won’t get to roam the halls or perform other actions like you can with the Get to Work expansion.

Instead, your character will simply disappear from their home for a while, only to return at a later date with their newborn in tow. If you have the "Get to Work" expansion, you’ll be able to view the birthing process at the hospital.

Also, note that the Willow Creek Hospital lot cannot be edited, unlike most other lots in the game. This means you won’t be able to tweak its appearance or make other personalized edits. And while the hospital isn’t the most action-packed location in The Sims 4 , it’s a fun diversion from your usual tasks.

The Sims 4 : "Get to Work" expansion pack is now available on all platforms for $40. Beyond giving you access to the doctor career and hospital, you’ll also get a chance to try out several other professions and pick up new skills like photography and baking.

Sims 4 Hospital

The hospital lot is essential in “The Sims 4,” but unlike other lots, it is difficult to change. There are ways to access and alter it using cheats, though. It would be best if you had The Sims 4: Get To Work expansion pack loaded to visit the hospital, which is located in Willow Creek’s Civic Center area.

Having a Sim go into labor and choose the “Have Baby At Hospital” option is one way to go there. Alternatively, you can go to work with your Sim and experience the environment by selecting a doctor career.

Players can alter and improve the experience outside the core game with custom content and mods. You can build a dynamic, attractive hospital wherever you want in the game with the correct mods.

In The Sims 4, Where is the Hospital?

In The Sims 4, Where is the Hospital?

The hospital lot is a crucial site in The Sims 4, although it differs from other lots in that it cannot typically be altered. However, cheats can be used to gain access to and modify it. It would be best to have The Sims 4: Get To Work expansion pack loaded to go to the hospital. In Willow Creek’s Civic Center area, the lot is known as the Willow Creek Hospital.

Having a Sim goes into labor and then click on them with the option “Have Baby At Hospital” is one way to travel to the hospital. Alternatively, if your Sim has the doctor career selected, you can decide to go with them when they leave for work by choosing to go with them.

It’s crucial to understand that you cannot access the “Manage Worlds” section or alter the lot while at the hospital. However, you can use cheats to change the hospital as you choose.

First, open the cheat menu by pressing CTRL + Shift + C on a PC or Command + Shift + C on a Mac to bring up the cheat bar. Next, enter the command “testingcheats on.” The game will let you know that cheats have been enabled if it is successful.

You can now enter the code ‘bb.enablefreebuild’ into the cheat box to change the design. Remember that utilizing cheats may have adverse effects. Therefore, it’s essential to use them properly and make a backup of your saved game files before making any significant adjustments.

Therefore, ensure you have the necessary expansion pack, and feel free to use the testingcheats to allow accessible build mode for editing if you want to explore the lot in The Sims 4 or change it for your playtime.

In The Sims 4, How to Get to the Hospital

In The Sims 4, How to Get to the Hospital

In The Sims 4, there are two main ways for players to get to the hospital. The first choice has to do with becoming pregnant and giving birth. Players can deliver the child in a hospital when a Sim enters labor in the third trimester of pregnancy.

By clicking the Sim in question, this option becomes apparent. It’s important to remember that any Sim can become pregnant as long as the ‘Become Pregnant’ box in the Custom Gender Settings is ticked.

The hospital in The Sims 4 is regarded as a hidden feature on the map, much like the Police Station and FutureSim Labs. Players are, therefore, limited to the aforementioned pregnancy-related alternative or the second method, which involves following the Doctor’s vocation to access it.

Players can enter the hospital by choosing a Doctor career. The Sim’s career begins as a Medical Intern, and with perseverance and hard work, they can advance to the position of Chief of Staff. Different jobs are delegated throughout the profession at the start of each workday, such as treating sicknesses, checking on coworkers, and bringing food to patients. The Sim advances in their medical work by completing more tasks.

It’s crucial to keep in mind that, absent cheats to activate accessible build mode, the

lot cannot be modified in the game. Before making any modifications, players should use caution and consider backing up their saved game files because doing so can have adverse effects.

‘The Sims 4’ Base Game: How to Attend the Hospital

How to Attend the Hospital

Without the “Get to Work” addition, playing “The Sims 4″‘s main game still allows access to the hospital, but with certain restrictions. You can only physically enter the hospital or look around inside if you possess the expansion. If your Sims experience labor, they can still go to the hospital.

You can send a Sim to the hospital to give birth when they enter labor. The Sim will temporarily leave their home and return later with their newborn child, though you won’t be able to explore the hallways or take other actions like you could with the “Get to Work” extension.

A more thorough delivery procedure is accessible in the hospital for players with the “Get to Work” update, offering a fuller gameplay experience.

It’s significant to note that the Willow Creek Hospital lot can be kept the same as a few other gaming lots. Unlike most other places where you can alter and make unique changes, the lot is still immutable.

The hospital in ‘The Sims 4’ may offer less interaction than in the expansion, but it still provides the Sims a fun break from their usual responsibilities. It’s a big deal in a Sim’s life and gives the simulation of their daily activities in the game more nuance.

Modern Hospital Building (Red Heart Hospital)

Modern Hospital Building

To preserve the integrity of the gameplay, certain structures in the game, such as hospitals and police stations, are often off-limits in the building mode. However, if desired, there is a means to unlock this capability.

You can access the build mode for these restricted buildings by pressing “Ctrl + Shift + C” and typing the command “bb.enablefreebuild” in the console.

Here is a list of vital goods you need to include on the assigned 5050 lot, identified as a hospital type, and priced at 227,300 in-game currency, assuming you want to build your own hospital. The hospital should include the following components to assure authenticity and prevent the use of custom content (CC):

1. Surgery Tables

2. Exam Beds

3. Front Desk with Computer and Chair

4. Treadmill

5. X-Ray Machine

6. Chemical Analyzer

7. Snack Vending Machine

8. Additional Computers (positioned away from the front desk)

11. Microwave

12. Counter

These things should be carefully placed within the allotted lot size to establish a functional and aesthetically pleasing hospital setting. When planning your hospital, consider the in-game architectural and budgetary restrictions.

To build the Sims 4 Hospital, carefully adhere to the following step-by-step directions:

1. Start by improving your Sims 4 gameplay and advancing to the career position of a doctor. Unlock the hospital building option is a requirement.

2. In order to enable specific features, activate the required cheat codes before moving forward with the hospital development. Enter the cheat console with the commands “bb.enablefreebuild” and “bb.moveobjects”. As a result, you will have more freedom to construct without constraints, and object placement will be more adaptable.

3. Next, use the bulldozer tool to clear the chosen plot so that the hospital will have a clean slate. By taking this measure, no existing structures would certainly obstruct the hospital’s construction.

4. Find the “Red Heart Hospital” house blueprint in your library of pre-made lots. Select this particular design because it will function as the building block for your hospital project.

5. Select the “place lot” option after choosing the “Red Heart Hospital” design. Place the house carefully on the allotted piece of land where you plan to build your hospital.

You can start building your Sims 4 Hospital by following the guidelines provided below. Remember to use your imagination and include the necessary components to create a completely functional project.

Why Am I Unable To Visit A Hospital In The Sims 4?

There are specific factors that may be the cause of your inability to visit the hospital in The Sims 4. You don’t have the “Get to Work” expansion pack, which is the leading cause.

This add-on pack creates a new environment and contains a hospital lot that you can visit and engage with in person. Your Sims can still see the hospital in the original game without owning the “Get to Work” addition, but you won’t be able to follow them inside and explore the setting.

It’s critical to realize that player-generated bespoke material, like hospitals developed just for a game, maybe distributed online and featured by YouTubers. These custom hospitals frequently offer fresh and distinctive gameplay experiences, such as adding new locations or introducing new job/career opportunities for your Sims.

However, you might need to install modifications or other player-made enhancements to the game to access such custom material.

One such addition is the “Private Practice” mod, which improves the game by introducing a new hospital and job/career path for your Sims. These unique enhancements can be incorporated into your gameplay to improve your experience, even though they are not a part of the official game content.

What Alterations may you Make to the Hospital?

What Alterations may you Make to the Hospital?

You must rely on mods if you want to alter and personalize the hospital in “The Sims 4,” such as by creating your hospital or improving the gameplay. Beyond the predefined pocket-dimension Civic Center, the standard game does not offer the ability to establish lands in other areas.

You’ll need the assistance of mods made by knowledgeable Simmers to realize your idea of a unique hospital. These mods can offer first-rate support in enabling the alterations you want. You can build a dynamic, attractive hospital in any place you desire within the game by carefully choosing and installing the appropriate modules.

You can increase the options and give your Sims an exceptional medical experience with the aid of these mods. Mods can significantly improve your gameplay and allow you to customize it to your liking, whether they add new architectural components, create custom medical facilities, or incorporate additional gaming features.

To ensure a stable and lag-free gaming experience, choose mods from reliable sources and carefully follow installation instructions. Keep your game updated at all times, and be aware that applying mods may impact compatibility with upcoming updates or other game features.

Players can explore the hospital environment in The Sims 4 in various ways. Although it cannot be modified in the basic game, cheats can be used to alter the hospital lot, which is situated in Willow Creek’s Civic Center section and plays a vital role.

Players may experience a more realistic hospital setting with The Sims 4: Get To Work extension pack, where they can see births and the hospital’s decor.  Sims can still go to the hospital to give birth even without the expansion, albeit the experience is restricted to a brief departure and return.

The Sims community’s developed custom content and mods offer more chances to improve and personalize the hospital, introducing fresh gameplay mechanics and enhancing the overall gaming experience.

Ultimately, with the aid of well-chosen mods, players can build a dynamic, beautifully designed hospital wherever they like within the game.

Yes, In The Sims 4, you can go to the hospital, but only if you have The Sims 4: Get to Work installed or if your Sim gives birth while pregnant in the base game.

How to Go to the Hospital in Sims 4

how to visit the doctor in sims 4

A lot of players have often asked this question and although the hospital isn’t exactly the most integral location in the Sims 4 , it is very important that you know where it is and how to get to it. However, it can get pretty complicated and somewhat difficult when trying to find the hospital and making your way to it especially if you’re just starting out.

You can spend hours searching and searching for it in various neighborhoods or worlds but you won’t find it so easily. So in this article we’ll be guiding you on where to get to the hospital in Sims 4.

Sims-4-Hospital-Gamezo

In order to find and get to the hospital in Sims 4, you will need to have a specific Sims 4 Downloadable Content (DLC). Despite offering lots of medical processes, the normal Sims 4 base game doesn’t have an actual hospital. It’s just like schools where you can’t actually see or witness what your Sims do while they’re there.

The hospital in Sims 4 is located at the Civic Center neighborhood in Willow Creek and is known as Willow Creek Hospital. However, you must have The Sims 4: Get to Work expansion pack before you can get to the hospital.

Once you have that, you can get to the Willow Creek Hospital where you’ll see doctors and patients all around the place. You can have your Sim undergo various types health checkups in the hospital. And even more exciting, you can have your Sim work as a doctor at the hospital if you choose the career.

Another reason to be at the hospital is when your partner Sim is in labor. If this occurs, an option will pop-up where you’ll have to choose if you want them to have the childbirth. Choosing the Willow Creek Hospital means your Sim will be taken there automatically and delivery the baby when the time is right. The Sims 4: How To Get To The Hospital

The Willow Creek Hospital is well hidden. Here's where to find it.

The Sims 4 has a unique approach to sickness and hospitals. Both of these are present in the game, but aren't as easily accessible as you may expect. While Sims can become sick, they won't require a trip to the hospital.

Related: Sims 4: Doctor Career Illness List

Also, while Sims getting odd debuffs due to sickness has always been a base game feature, the hospital itself is tied to the Get To Work Expansion. So, how do you get to the hospital?

Have The Get To Work Expansion

The hospital building is tied to the interactive doctor career , and as such is only available for those who have the Get To Work expansion installed. If you are just playing the base game , then the hospital is simply a rabbit hole and Sims will just disappear briefly if they need to attend.

For those with the expansion, the hospital is a building which pregnant Sims can choose to have their baby at. Sims in the doctor career can also attend.

The hospital lot isn't accessible through the regular manage worlds menu.

Be In Labor

The easiest way to get to the hospital is to have your Sim give birth. When a Sim goes into labor those with the Get To Work pack will see a pop-up menu that asks if you want to have the baby at home or at the hospital. Alternatively, you can click the pregnant Sim and choose go to hospital. You can also choose another Sim to attend the hospital with you.

Once there, you will need to register at the desk and will then be taken through to a room where the most bizarre c-section you've ever seen will take place. Once your Sim gives birth, you'll choose name before being able to go back to your home lot.

Enter The Doctor Career

The main purpose of the hospital lot is for Sims entering the active doctor career. Sims wanting to become a doctor will work at the hospital , and you can accompany them if you wish.

When they start work you'll get a pop-up screen and can choose to send your Sim alone or accompany them.

Each day you will have a list of tasks to do in order to advance your career. The more you complete, the faster you'll be promoted and the more you will earn.

How To Edit The Hospital Lot

The hospital lot is not editable by default , but you can use cheats to make it your own. Simply follow these steps.

  • Go to the hospital - Either accompany a Sim to work or send them to give birth.
  • Pause the game - You'll want to make sure your Sim doesn't leave before you've finished.
  • Bring up the cheat menu - Press Ctrl + Shift + C on PC/Mac or all four shoulder buttons on console.
  • Enter the Free Build Cheat - Type testingcheats on and press enter. Then type bb.enablefreebuild and hit enter again.

You'll now be able to access build mode in the normal way. Just make sure that you include all the things your Sims will need for a day at work. There are no set requirements for this lot , since it isn't designed to be edited so make sure to keep the following:

  • Hospital Reception Desk
  • Surgery Table
  • Chemical Analyzer
  • Medical Treadmill
  • X-Ray Machine

All these items are essential for admitting, diagnosing and curing patients, and we recommend keeping two of each diagnosis machine - which will be present in the hospital when you start. You'll also need at least six exam beds and a hospital-specific reception desk.

It's also helpful to have a waiting room, extra exam beds, dividers, and a break room with a sofa to nap on and a radio or tv to fullfil low needs.

In order to complete all the tasks given you'll also need a coffee machine , the Corporate Fridge Raider Revenue Generating Cooler (for snacks), a treadmill (regular) and a bathroom with a sink.

Where to Find the Hospital in The Sims 4

One of your Sims may have to visit the hospital for all kinds of reasons. When characters give birth, they go to this lot. When working as a doctor, it’s the same story. You may be familiar with its appearance, especially if you’ve seen it in videos or visited it firsthand. Figuring out how to access the lot manually, though, is another story. To learn more, continue reading to discover where to find the hospital in The Sims 4.

How to Go to the Hospital in Sims 4

The hospital in The Sims 4 is found in the Civic Center neighborhood of Willow Creek after purchasing the Get to Work expansion pack. However, unlike most neighborhoods you can easily visit with any character, you can only go to Civic Center’s hospital if one of your characters gives birth or works as a doctor. There is no other way to go to the hospital normally.

If you have a doctor Sim in your household, they’ll visit the hospital during work hours. You can let them go alone or join them on their shift, allowing you to control their actions and performance.

how to visit the doctor in sims 4

How do you get to the hospital in The Sims 4?

Image of Stephanie Roehler

In The Sims 4, the main feature of the Get to Work DLC pack is adding three active careers: police officer, scientist, and doctor. These careers are special because they come with their own unique lots where you and your Sims can experience the daily life of these jobs. However, these lots don’t come with an easy-to-access neighborhood. How do you visit your friendly local Sims 4 hospital? Let’s take a look.

Where is the hospital in The Sims 4?

The Willow Creek Hospital in The Sims 4 exists in a pocket neighborhood called the Civic Center. It’s part of the Willow Creek world but is hidden from easy map access or normal travel functions. Therefore, you can’t just take a quick trip over to the hospital whenever you want. Without mods, you can only reach it through a handful of very specific scenarios.

For example, if you join the doctor career in Get to Work, you can go to the hospital daily while you work. That is the easiest way to get to the lot. Another option involves pregnancy. When your Sim goes into labor, you can right-click on them and choose to have them give birth at the hospital.

In The Sims 4, the only way you can access the hospital as an actual travel location is by modding. Using a few well-made and popular mods on the internet (like the travel mod from Zerbu, or the Private Practice hospital addition mod from SimRealist), you can visit a hospital lot whenever you want.

It should be noted that the PlayStation and Xbox versions of The Sims 4 cannot be modded.

How can you make changes to the hospital?

If you’re interested in personalizing the hospital (either by building your own hospital or updating the gameplay) you’ll have to rely on mods. After all, the base game isn’t made for creating hospital lots outside the pocket-dimension Civic Center neighborhood. You’ll need some top-tier Simmer-modding assistance to make it work. With a few well-chosen mods, you can have a dynamic, beautifully-built hospital wherever you want.

Wondering where the hospital is in The Sims 4: Get To Work? If your Sim is sick and in need of care, or is going into labor, there’s no better place to go than to the hospital.

The Sims 4 : Get To Work expansion pack adds three new careers to your game that you can follow your Sim to, including doctor. However, getting to the hospital when you’re not a doctor can be tough if you don’t know where to go. Where is the hospital in The Sims 4? We’re here to let you know.

The Sims 4 How to get to the hospital

The best way to bring your Sim to the hospital is to have your pregnant Sim go into labor . Once this begins, you can choose to have the baby at the hospital by clicking on the Sim. This will take your Sim to the hospital lot and you’ll be free to roam around (you do have to give birth to the baby, though!)

Another way your Sim can get to the hospital is to be in the doctor career . This is another easy way to get into the hospital, as this is where your Sim’s job takes place. Choose to follow them to work, and you’ll be free to explore the hospital lot once again.

A doctor examining a patient at the hospital in The Sims 4

Unfortunately, the hospital itself isn’t found as a lot in any of the worlds, so there’s no way to get to it without meeting one of these conditions.

Can you visit the hospital in the base game?

Technically yes, you can visit the hospital if you’re Sim goes into labor and chooses to have the baby there, but without the Get To Work expansion, it’s merely a rabbit hole . Your Sim will disappear into the building pregnant and walk out with a baby.

However, with the Get To Work expansion, it is a fully explorable lot. You can explore the waiting room, check out the medical equipment, and more. The hospital lot will be the same no matter which world your Sim lives in.

How to edit the hospital in The Sims 4

Editing the hospital in The Sims 4

It is possible to edit the hospital in The Sims 4, by using cheats. Here’s what you need to do:

  • Open the cheat console by pressing CTRL + Shift + C on keyboard or all four bumpers on controller
  • Type ‘ testingcheats on ‘ and hit enter to enable cheats
  • Type ‘ bb.enablefreebuild ‘ and hit enter to modify the hospital

This will allow you to enter Build Mode while on the lot and place whatever you’d like in the hospital. Be sure to leave the medical equipment items and a computer on the lot, though, or else the hospital can’t function properly.

No way without cheats

Sadly, there’s no way to edit the hospital without cheating. Even if you build a hospital on a playable lot, your Sims will still go to the premade one that came with the Get To Work expansion pack.

That’s everything you need to know about getting to the hospital in The Sims 4. Be sure to check out how to do homework and how to control any sim in The Sims 4 if you need more guides on the most famous life simulator game.

The Sims 4 hospital FAQs

How do you find the hospital in The Sims 4?

The hospital is a special lot that can only be visited if you’re Sim is in labor or works in the doctor career. Without the Get To Work expansion pack, it’s just a rabbit hole.

Can you edit the hospital in The Sims 4?

Yes, you can edit the hospital using the enable free build cheat. It’s not possible to edit the lot without cheating, though.

Treating, diagnosing patients & career rewards.

Career Quick Links

The Sims 4's Doctor Career comes via the Get to Work Expansion Pack and is one of the most challenging Careers I've ever covered. In this Career, you will start with janitorial duties, interruption of actual Doctors with socials , and patient relations and proceed to being able to run your own tests and diagnose patients. As you go forward, the Career gets more defined although menial tasks will still pop up as objectives. You will eventually be able to perform surgeries and deliver Sim Babies as you advance, while your Sim will also have a clearer picture of what is wrong with the patient as they progress. The Doctor's Career level determines success rate with many interactions. Try to take care of patients as much as possible, and do not misdiagnose them, for fear of losing job performance ! This guide should help you with those things, as I have a list of symptoms of each illness, while I'll also share the Doctor's career schedule and rewards.

How to: Doctor Career Cheats Press Control + Shift + C then type testingcheats on and press enter. You can now get promotions with careers.promote doctor - you can also see all Career Cheats or visit a full list of Cheats in The Sims 4 .

Sim Hospital in The Sims 4 Get to Work

The Hospital in Get to Work

The Ideal Mood for this Career is Focused , though it only helps to raise your Sim's work performance bar and does not factor into diagnosing patients. This is best done by using 'Ponder Moves' on a chess table before work or using Browse Simpedia at a computer. While at the hospital, you can use the computer to 'Research Health Reports on Medical Journal' and remain Focused (+2). This helps a lot. You can also hang Mathematical Diagrams (via Logic with an Easel) in the area where Patients are treated. For those who wonder, Logic does not factor into diagnosing at all. Only the symptoms narrowing via Doctor job rank and your own observations.

A misdiagnosis can cause a hit to career performance for Doctors

A mis-diagnosis is a bad thing for a Doctor. You'll take a performance hit when you're wrong about a patient's ailments.

General Advice for Doctors At level 1, you won't have much to do regarding patients. Try to do things that are nearby in order to raise your performance. You have two days to get promoted, so it should be easy. Don't stay late, because two days is plenty of time to get your first promotion. At level 2, when your objectives change to feature more of treating patients, look for those that have already been diagnosed. This is required for the promotion. They should have a flashing red over them. You can administer the medication, even if you're not quite ready to deliver a full diagnosis. Your Career Performance will go up as you treat patients, though you may have a harder time finishing objectives within the 10-12 hour shift if you do too much of this. You get the little bumps from treating patients, and a big bonus at the end of the day based on the main bar at top left.

Talking to Co-Workers is a big part of the early levels

The first couple levels, you'll have to talk to co-workers a lot. Thankfully, it will get you through to more interesting objectives.

At level 3, you should see more medical tasks - lots of 'Examine Patient' interactions. You can then Transfer Case to a Doctor after you have done enough tests. Let new objectives come in as you clear them, so that you don't waste time. You may be called to do temperature, then check eyes. Pause to be more time-efficient, as objectives take a moment to come in. When you need to transfer a case, get a Doctor in conversation then use the 'Transfer' interaction to complete this objective. You may need to perform more tests to transfer the case. Again, look for patients with red flashes to deliver treatment. They've already been diagnosed and are ready for medicine.

The Chemical Analyzer is used to test patients' swab samples for diseases

When you do not have a patient to analyze, look to the front desk. You can admit patients to the beds yourself, and will often be forced to. Calibrating the X-ray machine gives you a Focused moodlet. You'll sometimes need to do this in order to get a better X-ray of a patient - Calibrate then 'Refer to X-Ray Scan' on the patient, later found under the Medical Referral menu. Know that the X-ray machine can be upgraded to feature faster scanning and become unbreakable, so long as your Sim has the Handiness Skill . At level 8, you can also upgrade the Analysis machine to make it unbreakable.

The Treadmill test is used to diagnose illnesses

The treadmill test may result in narrowing down your diagnosis, but isn't really effective use of time until higher levels in the Career.

Mid Levels Levels 4-5 can be a little tough, because you're not quite able to diagnose a lot of patients and will fail things like treadmill tests. Try to avoid those until later, while focusing on completing objectives to raise your performance. Try to get the two diagnoses down, but do not fail on them or you may end up losing huge chunks of performance - like a whole day's worth. Make sure you're right by looking at our symptoms list. It may not be as hard for you as it was for me if you can use the process of elimination along with the 'Diagnosing Patients' section below.

A Sim patient with burning belly

This Sim patient has burning belly, a nasty stomach illness that requires surgery

It gets a bit harder to advance from 5-7. Once you need three surgeries, you already have a decent job as a GP, but it will take time to need to do three surgeries. Sims may come in collapsed and need emergency surgery. Just keep at it, and some Sims will eventually need them based on your diagnosis. It may take 2-3 days of work, for there are only the emergencies and three rare types of illness that require surgery. It's easier after that, but you still do some waiting. If you like, you can misdiagnose Sims with Triple Threat or Burnin' Belly, which both require surgery, but that would be unethical!

You will get the ability to boss your coworkers around, but this won't do much, unlike in the Scientist Career where coworkers get promoted and can even be ordered to gather collectibles for you.

Diagnosing patients requires you to narrow down the symptoms and use some visual cues to help you figure out what's wrong

Diagnosing Patients Remember, you get only ONE chance to diagnose a patient, and when you come in the next day that patient likely has an entirely different illness. It's random. Logic does not matter for this, nor does being Focused.

The more tests you run, the further you can narrow down a patient's diagnosis. But you will hit a wall and sometimes be left with 2-3 options. Try to do those tests that are tied to objectives, but remember that treating patients also boosts your performance. When possible, do more tests to clear objectives even if you know what ails a Sim. It is more important to do the successful treatments than the objectives, so long as you get silver or up.

A child sim patient in TS4

A child Sim has diagnostic tests run. This will help to narrow down the symptoms to a specific sickness

The difficulty in this Career comes when you do not know exactly what is wrong with a Sim and can't get it narrowed down further than two or three illnesses. You should be sure to play on speed 1 and watch the patient. Do a test, then back off them and do something with another patient sometimes. This can let you observe the first patient's idle animations. Also, once all tests are done you can initiate regular conversations with them, then back off again. This sometimes gets the symptom animations to trigger.

After you've analyzed a swab, you may later take another, which sometimes will yield a direct result. Here are guidelines for assessing a patient's symptoms, some of which were provided by Dellena on our Forum. We also had extensive help with this list from officialghosts, to whom I owe a lot of thanks for their detail post on the matter, as well as images of symptoms to help you all!. Amaiyasai also contributed information on missing illnesses. Thanks to everyone involved, this guide is much better.

This is by a fairly comprehensive list, and should help you to rule out illnesses. See below the list for images of some symptoms, as well as a breakdown of symptoms and what diseases they could be:

A Sim with a rash

Different rashes come with different illnesses. At the least you know they're definitely sick.

Diseases and Their Symptoms

  • Rashes - These may present with any number of illnesses, so don't think right away it's itchy plumbob. They are meant to be indicators a patient is really sick, so you can rule out 'Not Sick'. Some rashes only present with certain illnesses. There are three types: swirly, orange and green spots, and tiger stripes.
  • Bloaty Head - look for the patient appearing to have a headache, and sometimes steam coming out of their ears. It is possible they can have orange and green spots, but primarily look for the steam.
  • Starry Eyes - Gets dizzy and shows stars over their heads. They may also swat at invisible objects in front of them. If you see them swatting, it is surely starry eyes. They may also have a swirly rash.
  • Llama Flu - The patient may shiver (fever), have a cloud of gas around them, cough, and sneeze. This sometimes presents with orange and green spots-type rash.
  • Gas and Giggles - The patient will fart and giggle at random times, and sometimes presents with a tiger-stripe rash. Watch their idle animations for lots of laughing. Laughing itself is not necessarily a symptom, but they may appear to do so uncontrollably.
  • Triple Threat - Dizziness, coughing. but lack of swiping as with Starry Eyes, and lack of fever as with Llama Flu. Requires surgery.
  • Itchy Plumbob - May present with a rash (tiger stripes or orange and green spots) and the patient may itch a lot. You can tell this apart from Sweaty Shivers by the presence of the rash.
  • Burnin' Belly - Visible stomach pain, maybe fever. Requires surgery and is a rare illness - perhaps the most rare of the diseases Doctors can diagnose.

The following set of images are courtesy of officialghosts on our Forum . Use this to help you narrow down illnesses, as I've used their list to help connect each symptom to a disease. If they have one of these symptoms, look up the illnesses above to see if they have other symptoms! You got this. The process of elimination is your friend.

Treating Patients Diagnose an illness by selecting it when you're sure, and the treat option will come up. You'll know right after administering treatment whether it was a success or failure. Find this option on the social menu after you diagnose. Surgery only comes up with Triple Threat, Burnin' Belly, and when you need to deliver a baby at level 8 and up.

House Call

House Calls give you Career performance, but aren't necessarily the best use of your time

House Calls Sometimes, your Doctor will get put on a house call to treat one or more patients. Click the front desk to do this. If you can't arrive within a couple of hours, they will seek help elsewhere. I skipped these a lot of the time, because they came up when I needed surgeries (later learning that you can sometimes refer a Sim to surgery while on a House Call). You can earn plenty of performance just doing duties at the hospital. However, it is time-efficient. You get a nice chunk of the day's performance for delivering the medicines.

The X-Ray machine can be upgraded to be faster

The X-ray machine may be upgraded to be faster and auto-calibrate with Handiness. You can also make it unbreakable.

Treadmill and X-Ray tests Find these under the Medical Referral social menu. These can help to narrow down illnesses, but will have a high failure rate until you're level 7+ in the Career. Until then, try to avoid them or else make sure that your Sim is Focused. A visit to the computer to get a moodlet beforehand can really help with this. Sometimes, you DO have to run the test twice, as the game indicates. They can be super helpful once your Sim is qualified to analyze the results of both tests.

Delivering a Sim Baby in The Sims 4

A Doctor delivers a Sim Baby in The Sims 4 Get to Work

Delivering a Baby This is a work emergency, which will only come up once your Doctor is level 8 and above. It's required to reach level 9. You've simply got to wait this out, and be sure to prioritize this over other patients.

Surgery in The Sims 4

Surgery is required for triple threat, burnin' belly, and delivery of Sim babies

Understaffed Day There are sometimes days when your Doctor will have to do things like mop puddles, even as a surgeon. These occur on understaffed day, and may be annoying. You can tell if this is a result of a special even by mousing over the top-left workday meter.

Common Objectives Here are some how-to's and efficiency tips for common tasks:

  • Make Bed - Sometimes there isn't a bed to make. Do other objectives
  • Mop Puddle - look about the hospital rooms for puddles. Don't let the Sim wander about cleaning unless there are more objectives
  • Chat with Co-workers - You can use the same co-worker multiple times to fulfill this
  • Transfer Patient Case - Early on, you will need to do this when you're not qualified to diagnose the patient yourself. I was unable to do it directly, possibly because of a bug. What you can do to get this to go through is get a Doctor (lab coat) chatting with you, then transfer the case.
  • Work Emergency - Record Emergency Analysis Data - Click the front desk, then examine the samples and input data into a computer.

Ultimate Sims Guides

The Sims 4: Doctor Career (Get to Work)

When we got The Sims 4: Get to Work we were given 3 active careers for your sims to play. The doctor career is one of them where you can go to the hospital and treat patients and spend your sim’s day helping people. As you go through the levels of the doctor career you’ll unlock new CAS items, a brand new trait that will keep you healthy, and a ton of new abilities at the hospital.

Going to Work

Each day that you have to work you’ll get a pop-up option asking if you want to join your sim at work or send them alone. If you send them alone they won’t be able to get promoted since most of the requirements for this career are only possible when playing the active career. To go to work with them you just need to choose join and you’ll get to participate in making your sim have a good day at work.

When you arrive at work you’ll see your sim standing outside, and you’ll see a check-in desk with some sick sims waiting to be cared for. You’ll see a room with patient beds with some patients already taken in and rooms where you can analyze samples, do treadmill tests, xrays and more. There is also a single person bathroom and a kitchen for you to get snacks in when your sim gets hungry.

Skills to Work on for a Smoother Work Day

There are two skills that are necessary for the doctor career in the sims, the first is the handiness skill. This is necessary because equipment in the hospital is going to break often this includes analyzer machines, treadmills, Xrays, and even the sinks and toilets. This is going to slow your day down so having a high handiness skill can make your sim take way less time fixing these.

The second skill that is going to be a really great idea is the logic skill. This is a good choice because you will have an easier time when doing tests on the analyzer and will waste less time tinkering around and waiting for results.

How to Complete Work Objectives

Each day there is going to be different work objectives that appear in the top left hand corner of your screen. These objectives will be things like mopping and talking to coworkers in your first few levels of the career, to things like performing surgery or treating patients in your last few levels of the career. Your objectives will get more complicated the further along you go.

Most of the objectives are self explanatory and can be completed easily. You can hover over any objective in the game to see what you are supposed to do to get it done.

Improving Your Work Performance

Your career performance is important to get promoted and earn more money. You want to make sure that your career performance goes up so you can be promoted! The first thing you want to do is make sure you attend work being in a good mood. Get a good night’s sleep and eat a good meal before you go so you don’t have to waste work time grabbing a snack.

Once you’re at work you want to build up your relationships with all of your coworkers as a way to improve performance and just have a better day. You should also do as many of the daily objectives as possible to have a gold work day.

Making a House Call

Once in a while when you are attending an active day at work there will be a notification and you’ll need to go make a house call. When you get these notifications you can ignore them if you want, but I love doing them because it breaks up some of the monotony of a day working as a doctor.

When you get this notification you need to go up to the front desk of the hospital and click on the counter to attend house call. Then you’ll go through a loading screen and arrive at the patient’s home. You’ll be given your goals just like at a regular day of work and you just need to find the sick sim and complete the tasks. Once you finish the house call you can click on your sim to head back to your hospital and get back to work.

Types of Disease and Their Symptoms

Every sickness that your sims are going to have will have visible symptoms that you’ll be able to see based on the way they are acting. They will have things like a headache, or rub their stomach, or sneeze which can help you diagnose them properly. You can use this guide to figure out the differences between different diseases.

Bloaty Head

When a sim comes in with bloaty head they are going to show signs that they have a headache. This will be shown by them holding their head with a few fingers. They may also have steam coming from their ears. You will treat this by choosing to treat bloaty head with shot .

Burnin’ Belly

A sim who comes in with burnin’ belly will be seen rubbing their stomach often and may have steam come out of their head. They will sometimes have a thought bubble pop up with a pink bottle of medicine. To treat burnin’ belly you are going to need to give this patient surgery .

Gas and Giggles

Sims who come in with gas and giggles are going to have a bunch of symptoms. This includes rubbing their tummy, giggling at random times, passing gas, stripes on their bodies and thinking about food. To treat this disease you are going to want to prescribe medication for gas and giggles .

Itchy Plumbob

A sim who comes into the hospital with itchy plumbob are going to be itchy and scratching themselves, giggling a bunch, and may have visible spots on their bodies. You can treat itchy plumbob with surgery .

Sims who come into the hospital with llama flu may have spots on their body, sneezing, and coughing a bit. To help these sims you need to give llama flu vaccination .

Starry Eyes

A sim who comes into the hospital with starry eyes will have stars spinning over their head like they are dazed, they have have spots on thier body and will be showing signs of being dizzy. These sims will be treated by choosing treat starry eyes with medication .

Sweaty Shivers

If a sim comes in with sweaty shivers will be itchy often, may have spots on their body and will have visible signs of a fever. To treat these patients you are going to inoculate for sweaty shivers .

The Triple Threat

The sims that come in with the triple threat are going to have a wider variety of symptoms. They may have stars spinning over their head, sneezing, being itchy, coughing, and will have some sort of spot, stripe, or whirly spot on their body. The only way to treat this disease is through surgery .

Diagnosing Sims

Although you can see a lot of the diseases on the sims without running any tests, you don’t want to just skip to a cure if you aren’t 100% sure what disease they have. This will have you having poor work performance and that’s the opposite of what we want. You want to do as many tests as possible before trying to cure a sim. You may need to run tests at the patient bed, or if you are further in the career you can do treadmill tests or X-rays to see how it goes. Eventually you’ll know exactly what disease they have and you can go to curing them.

Curing Sickness

You’ll know that a sim is ready to be cured from their sickness when their heart above their head changes from blue to red. You’ll be able to give them their treatment and they will head out of the hospital and you’ll get a new patient in soon!

Delivering Babies

At level 6 of the doctor career your sim will now have the chance to determine the sex of a baby when a pregnant sim starts the labour process. When your sim reaches level 8 of the doctor career they are going to unlock the ability to start delivering babies. This is really fun! When a pregnant sim comes into the hospital they are going to be signed in and they will be brought to the surgery table to have their baby. Your sim will use this giant surgery table to deliver the baby.

Sickness Resistance

When your sim reaches level 8 of the doctor career they are going to be awarded with the sickness resistant trait . This trait isn’t going to completely make it so your sims never get sick, but it will greatly reduce the chances of your doctor sims getting ill. This is great because sickness in the sims are quite annoying, especiallly when you have other sims to save!

Doctor Career Levels

How to cheat the doctor career.

If you are unwilling to go to work in order to get promoted, you can always cheat to get your sims to a higher level of the career. To do this you first need to hit ctrl + shift + c on your keyboard to open up the cheat box, then type in testingcheats true and hit enter. Then you can use the promotion cheat by typing careers.promote doctor and hit enter to be promoted by one level.

Final Thoughts

The doctor career in The Sims 4 is such a fun way to play because it makes you participate in every part of your sim’s lives. Working with your sim is such a great time and can make you feel more connected to your sim’s career. I really hope this article helped with your doctor career. Happy Playing!

The Sims 4: Doctor Career Guide

The Get to Work expansion pack allows players to have a more immersive experience in Sims career, such as a Doctor

The Sims 4: Get to Work , released on March 30, 2015, is the franchise's first expansion pack, and is centered around work life. Its introduction of active careers is a significant addition to the game and brings back a popular feature from The Sims 3 Ambitions . With this feature, players can take a more immersive approach to their Sims' careers, actively participating and guiding them to complete tasks and earn promotions. No longer will Sims disappear into a rabbit hole during work hours, providing a more interactive experience.

Related: The Sims 4: Ranking Every Expansion Pack From Worst To Best

Among these active careers in The Sims 4 is the Doctor Career, where Sims interact with patients, diagnose illnesses, and offer treatments. In addition to active careers, Get to Work also provides numerous other gameplay features that allow for deep engagement in the work lives of Sims.

Doctor Career General Info And Promotions

Compared to other careers in The Sims 4 , the Doctor career is more demanding and challenging. However, the rewards for completing these tasks may not be as significant as the required work. While there are some minor benefits such as improving the general health of Sims and the ability to determine the gender of a baby for pregnant Sims, players must be attentive and diagnose diseases correctly based on visual symptoms and test results.

Initially, Doctor Sims will perform basic administrative tasks such as greeting patients and taking their temperature. However, as they progress through their career, their responsibilities become more complex, including diagnosing and treating illnesses, assisting with childbirth, and even dealing with emergencies such as work emergencies or house calls. This means Doctors may be called to work outside their designated work hours, similarly to other Get to Work careers. There are a few hospital venues, with particularly fun names, including Cut-N-Gut Health, Simulacrum Labs, The Mustard Clinic, T. Pose Medical, and I Fell Down, A Wellness Center that doctor Sims can work at, and outside of the house calls they won't have any tasks outside these lots unlike the Detective Career . Compared to the other active careers in the pack, it also has the most varying work schedule between the promotions.

At the beginning levels of the Doctor career, players will focus on mastering daily tasks to raise their performance without dealing with patients. However, at levels 2 and 3, players must treat patients who have already been diagnosed. Tasks become more complex from level 4, as players need to diagnose patients before treating them. Unlike the Detective and Scientist careers, which have more linear promotion tasks, the Doctor career requires specific tasks like surgeries or delivering babies for promotions.

Related: The Sims 4: Tips For The Interior Decorator Career

Rewards for the Doctor career include new interactions with Sims and objects, such as determining a baby's gender. Additionally, the Sickness Resistance trait is useful as it reduces the likelihood of getting sick and speeds up recovery time. The work schedule can be challenging to balance, especially for Sims with families, but at level 10, the career has the potential for good income and balanced free time, with both weekend days off.

How To Get Promotions Quickly

The Doctor career does not rely on specific traits that give Sims an advantage, as the tasks generally do not require any particular skill. However, having a high Handiness skill can be useful, as Doctor Sims can upgrade medical equipment to be unbreakable, saving time throughout the day. Maintaining a focused moodlet is recommended, as it can help increase job performance, but it does not provide additional benefits like it does for the Scientist career, where being focused is important for having breakthroughs.

Related: Highest Paying Careers In The Sims 4, Ranked

Promotions ultimately depend on high job performance and completing promotion tasks, while diagnosing patients requires players to be observant and conduct enough medical examinations to successfully diagnose the case. In this case, reward traits such as the Observant trait from the Satisfaction Points Shop will not help diagnose patients more successfully. During work hours, players should pay attention to the required tasks in the top left corner and focus on completing them to avoid losing job performance.

How To Successfully Diagnose And Treat Patients

The most challenging aspect of the Doctor career is the task of diagnosing patients, which sets it apart from the other two careers in the Get to Work pack. Players are given only one opportunity to accurately diagnose a patient, and success is dependent on the results of various tests as well as visual observations of the patient's behavior and any physical markings. While examinations may only narrow down the possibilities to 2-3 illnesses, using visual cues can help pinpoint the correct illness in most cases. Without a correct diagnosis, Sims will not receive the appropriate treatment, which can negatively impact job performance. It is important for players to take note that certain symptoms, such as rashes, may be present in multiple illnesses. However, these symptoms may appear slightly different depending on the specific illness, which can be helpful in narrowing down the correct diagnosis. The same rash may appear for multiple diseases, and also it is not always a consistent symptom for a particular disease.

Once the player is sure of the disease, they must select the disease from the options and treat option will come up. Once the treatment is done, players will find out whether it was a successful treatment or not. Surgery as a treatment will only be present with two rare diseases or otherwise when delivering a baby, which makes the promotion task for performing surgeries quite difficult as it is entirely random.

Work Emergencies / Special Occasions

Apart from their regular tasks, Doctor Sims may encounter work emergencies on certain days, such as Delivering a Baby, House Calls, or Understaffed days. While not always mandatory, it is highly recommended that Sims prioritize these tasks when they arise. Delivering a baby is a genuine emergency and also serves as a promotion task. Its occurrence is random, but when it happens, it should take precedence over other patients.

Related: The Sims 4: The Best Career For Your Sim (Based On The University They Attended)

House calls are typically less urgent but can arise at inconvenient times. While it is possible to skip them, completing house calls can be an efficient way to complete tasks and improve work performance. Players can check for more details on house calls by clicking on the front desk. There may also be times when the hospital is understaffed, requiring Doctors to perform tasks outside their regular duties, such as cleaning or mopping. Players can identify these special events by hovering over the meter in the top-left corner.

The Sims 4 is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.

But if you don’t know how to make the most out of it, you might be missing out on some of the best features of the medical career in Sims 4.

Consider this your guide to entering the medical career, tips for treating patients, and how to get promoted.

To join the medical career in Sims 4, use their smartphone and select ‘careers.’ The careers panel is divided into part-time and full-time jobs, but the first tab you’ll be taken to automatically is full-time jobs, all arranged by discipline.

The active medical career– your path to becoming a doctor– requires the Sims 4: Get to Work expansion to be played. You can purchase this expansion pack on Steam or Origin.

Select the medical icon and click to read the description. The option will be to join the entry career level, which is the medical intern. Like other careers in Sims 4, any young adult and older can join the career track, and they don’t require certain skills or education to initially join. There are a total of 10 career levels.

However, of course, it is helpful to have certain skills and traits, and certain things will need to be done to further progress within the medical career.

What are the Career Levels in the Medical Career?

Though the medical career is unique from some other careers in Sims 4 in being an active vs rabbit hole career, like all other careers different career levels increasingly pay higher hourly wages and bonuses, as well as prestigious titles, all of which have certain requirements to earn promotions.

how to visit the doctor in sims 4

I’ve provided a table below for a quick look at all 10 career levels within the medical career, as well as the hours, pay (simoleons) per hour, and requirements for promotion.

Contrary to many careers, the main way to progress through the ranks is not so much as working to one skill level, but to playing and succeeding at active workdays. Treating patients is a key requirement, which then progresses to the criteria for successful diagnosis, and later, conducting surgery and delivering babies.

How do you Succeed in a Doctor’s Career Sims 4?

It’s one thing to understand how to join the medical career, and another thing entirely to succeed. To become a doctor and work your way up, it’ll take some savvy not only building skills but more importantly, understanding how to meet the demands of the active workday for the medical career.

What Skills are Needed for Doctor Career Sims 4?

For the doctor career, both handiness and logic skills are useful. The handiness skill helps with working with equipment, especially for the X-ray machine, while a high logic skill will allow your sim to treat and analyze diagnoses more efficiently.

To build the handiness skill in Sims 4, you can repair items (just be careful not to be electrocuted!), upgrade items, read books about handiness, or even carve pumpkins (requires Sims 4: Spooky Day). To improve logic, read books, play chess, use a telescope or use a microscope.

What Mood is Helpful for the Medical Career in Sims 4?

Emotions play a role in nearly everything the sims do in Sims 4– from romancing to gardening and, of course, even treating patients. A focused mood is helpful for the doctor’s career and will improve their work efficiency.

In order to get your sims in a focused mood, you should first make sure their needs are met, then try one of the following rights before work: listen to new age music or practice yoga (requires Spa Day); study a book, fossil, or element; view aquariums or bonsai; play, ponder or mentor chess; research gardening, or even play video games.

Keep in mind that doing these activities does not guarantee a focused mood, just increases your chance. The best thing you can do is make sure basic needs are met headed into work.

What is the Best Way to Get Promoted in the Medical Career?

While both skills and emotions play a role in ranking within the medical career, the number one must be understanding how to play through, and succeed, at an active workday. Without this, you simply cannot progress. Look at it this way: a focused mood and high logic and handiness skills can help, but it will only take you so far.

You’ll need to build relationships with your colleagues, and, most importantly, successfully treat and diagnose patients.

How do you Treat and Diagnose Patients in Sims 4?

In order to treat, diagnose, and even perform surgery, first, you’ll have to make it through your first active career day. From there, it’ll be a series of lessons about the different illnesses you’ll see, how to use equipment, and how to make the most of your time.

Going to Work: Your First Day

To attend your first day in the medical career, you’ll arrive at the hospital, or medical center when prompted. You’ll have a pop-up notification assigning your first tasks. Don’t stress too much, though: the first day is more about exploring and learning where everything is than getting into treating patients.

Common tasks include getting to know your colleagues, performing basic research using one of the computers, and finding pieces of equipment or even a snack. The first day is relatively easy– just make sure you complete tasks quickly as possible.

When you’re at home, start working on your logic and handiness skills, for later. After attending one to three or so active workdays, you’ll be promoted, with a good feel of where things are in the hospital– and hopefully ready to start seeing patients.

Treating Patients

You start by treating patients who have already been diagnosed. This means you won’t need to worry yet about what’s ailing them– just provide them the proper treatment. Patients that have already been diagnosed will be indicated with a red, flashing indicator.

This is pretty easy: simply find diagnosed patients to treat, and click to administer medicine. You’ll want to work as quickly as possible, and will be rewarded with bonuses, and, with some effort, a promotion so you can start diagnosing patients.

As you level up to a medical assistant, you’ll be given new interactions, which will require you to perform physical exams on sims. Still, this is pretty straightforward and more time-consuming than anything. Keep at it, see as many patients as you can, and continue working on building relationships within the hospital.

If you run out of patients, check the front desk.

Diagnosing Patients

Diagnosing patients, as you imagine, is a little more challenging. Once you make it to the medical technologist career, no more merely providing treatment: now, you need to correctly diagnose patients for promotion.

how to visit the doctor in sims 4

To diagnose patients, you’ll be given more capabilities– and unlock new pieces of equipment. For the medical technologist and assistant nurse, you’ll be the most limited, needing to resort to options like a treadmill test.

As you level up, you’ll also have access to the X-Ray Machine, other medical tests, and capabilities. I also recommend conducting physical exams on your patients for more clues. Treadmill tests are sometimes alright in a pinch, but are not always reliable.

I recommend working to solve one patient’s illness at a time, especially initially. Doing so may end up being more efficient than treating many patients at once. I understand the temptation to get to as many patients as you can– but a correct diagnosis for one patient is better than treating many patients and failing to properly diagnose anyone.

Every patient that is ill will exhibit some physical symptoms. It may be tricky at first– and props for players that can quickly diagnose– but the longer a sim is waiting in the hospital, the more physical signs of the illness they will show.

It’s these physical signs, combined with tests you choose to run, that will point you to a diagnosis of one of the following illnesses.

As you can see, there are several symptoms that overlap from one illness to another– so you should never diagnose based upon symptoms alone. Running tests, as well as closer and longer observation, is helpful for ruling out another illness.

For a serious illness requiring surgery– such as Itchy Plumbob and the rare Burin’ Belly, make sure you’ve ruled out other illnesses. While I do recommend running tests you think you need, don’t run any tests for the sake of it– that will be looked down upon.

Using Equipment

You’ll need to be able to eventually use the X-Ray machine, run treadmill tests, and even deliver babies and perform surgery. Luckily, these are not too difficult– in fact, I’d argue that the hardest part of the medical career is just keeping up with the active days, as well as making a proper diagnosis.

how to visit the doctor in sims 4

Equipment will unlock as you make your way up– and you’ll be more apt to handle it at higher career levels. Both the X-Ray machine and treadmill tests are most accurate at a career level of 7 and up, so be cautious. I recommend making sure your sim is in a good and even focused mood. Besides, most tests may require as many as two or three tests for accurate results.

Surgery will only become available once you’re qualified. Keep an eye out once you hit career level 8 and above. Surgery, of course, is required for pregnancy, as well as two rare illnesses: the Burning’ Belly, as well the Itchy Plumbob.

Make sure to treat these patients first, and as quickly as possible. There is a universal machine in a surgery room to use for these purposes.

Becoming Ill and Making House Calls

But as you’re working your way through the medical career in Sims 4, it isn’t even just about the active workday, or leveling up your skills. You’ll also need to contend with two issues: becoming ill yourself and making those house calls on your offer hours.

It’s possible that your sim may become ill themselves while treating other patients. You’ll have to take care of your sim’s needs, and order medicine using your computer at home. Medicine costs $50 a bottle. You may need to take it only once, or a few times, for the illness to resolve. Admittedly, there is not much consequence or danger in your sims becoming ill. Unlike in Sims 2, when seasonal flu could even kill your sim, you’re at little risk in Sims 4.

You do get a perk when you reach level 8, or the Medical Specialist level of the career. This perk is the Sickness Resistance Trait, meaning you’ll now be immune from getting ill.

House Calls

You’ll be required to make house calls occasionally, outside of work hours. In the upper levels of the medical career, you may receive a call and subsequent notification to visit a certain location and treat a patient at their home. You’re unlikely to lose your job if you don’t, but doing so can improve your job performance. You’ll need to respond quickly, or the opportunity will disappear.

Frequently Asked Questions

Question: can sims go to the hospital in sims 4/ how do you go to the hospital in sims 4 for labor.

Answer: In Sims 4, sims can only go to the hospital if you own the Get to Work expansion pack. Sims go to the hospital for labor by selecting on the sim, while they are in laboring. You’ll be given the option to have the baby at the hospital. If you select this, you’ll travel with your sim to the hospital. Once there, click on the front desk to be checked in. You’ll be checked in, and eventually led to a room with a machine that will deliver your baby for you.

Question: How do you make your Sim have a girl?

Answer: Just as you could in Sims 3, in Sims 4 you can increase your chances of having a boy and/ or a girl by eating certain foods and listening to certain music during pregnancy. To increase your chances of having a girl, listen to pop music and eat strawberries. For a boy, listen to alternative music and eat carrots.

Final Thoughts

The medical career is an often underexplored active career that can add a new type of gameplay to your Sims 4 game. While it’s not for everyone– and probably not for everyday play– it’s a way to liven up things if you’re bored with Sims 4.

Want to be a doctor for story purposes and can’t be bothered leveling up? You can cheat in the medical career by enabling cheats, then entering: “ careers. promote doctor” in the cheat tab.

The Sims 4 Doctor diagnosis list of illnesses, symptoms & treatments

The Sims 4 's Get To Work Expansion Pack introduces three new interactive careers for your Sims, one of which is the Doctor career, where you'll need to diagnose and care for patients.

One of the daily tasks of the Doctor career in the game is to diagnose illnesses and treat your patients, but you'll need to choose the right one to successfully help a Sim correctly - and we've got a list of the symptoms and treatments to help you on the way.

All illnesses, symptoms & treatments for The Sims 4 Doctor career

When a poorly Sim admits themselves to a hospital, there are a fair few different illnesses that can show up, with plenty of different symptoms to boot.

Here are all the ones to reach out for, alongside the treatments available to a Sim:

Tips for correctly diagnosing a Sim

As shown above, when diagnosing a Sim, it's worth noting that observing their idle animations is also crucial to help with correctly diagnosing them - and we'd recommend playing at the slowest speed to do so correctly.

Swabbing a patient in The Sims 4

Additionally, you can also narrow down the possible illnesses it can be by taking swab samples and asking the patients to perform tests, which will reduce the possible diagnoses you can choose from in the Doctor pie menu.

Using these methods along with the above table will help you on your way to correctly diagnosing a Sim.

What is the Doctor Career?

The Doctor career is one of the active careers that came with The Sims 4: Get To Work , which allows players to follow their Sims to work and play through the career with the Sim, rather than them simply disappearing off-screen for their workday as is the case with others.

Image of a pie menu for The Sims 4

The early stages of the Doctor career will require you to research and check patients into the facility, as it isn’t until level three that you'll start examining patients to treat their ailments.

While misdiagnosing a patient can severely lower your work performance, you can pass your findings along to a senior Doctor during the mid-levels of the career to prevent this. By the time you progress into the upper ranks, you should be able to self-identify illnesses based on the distinct symptoms they present.

Sims 4: What to do when your Sim is sick

The Sims 4: Get To Work expansion introduced an illness system to the game. It makes for, ahem.. interesting experiences when following the active doctor career.

So sorry about all the times we misdiagnosed you, Bella Goth. And sorry for the wrong treatments.

Anyway. With the illness system from The Sims 4 Get To Work, Sims? well? they get ill. There’s no such thing as snuggling up on the couch with a blanket and some chicken noodle soup, though. Well, not exactly.

Illnesses in The Sims 4

Sims can come down with the following diseases with the illness system introduced in the Get To Work expansion

  • Triple Threat
  • Itchy Plumbob
  • Burning Belly
  • Starry Eyes
  • Bloaty Head
  • Sweaty Shivers
  • Gas and Giggles

Now, you would think that your sick Sim could just head on down to the hospital if you have the Get To Work expansion pack.

You know, in the same way you do when trying to find the hospital for the birth of your Sims 4 baby .

But that’s not quite how it works. While Sims with the active doctor career in The Sims 4 Get To Work will have to go through all sorts of complicated methods of diagnosing their patients, sick Sims have one very simple option.

How to cure sick Sims in the Get To Work expansion pack

It’s simple, whatever illness our Sim have, all you need to do is hop onto a computer and order medicine. There is just one medicine available for illness in The Sims 4 (unlike the active doctor diagnostic conundrum).

cure sick sims in the sims 4

Once you have ordered the medicine, you can find it in your inventory and take it. Your Sim should get a positive moodlet.

If any of the symptoms return, take some more medicine. But don’t take the meds if there is nothing wrong with your Sim. Well, unless that’s your storyline. No judgies.

Screen Rant

A sims 4 veteran discovers rare achievement that only a fraction of simmers will see.

A long-time Sims player got an extremely rare achievement that not many players will ever see, regardless of how long they play the game.

  • Discover rare achievements like Legacy Leader by playing 10 households for 10 generations.
  • The Alphabet Challenge requires 26 generations, no cheats, and adds a unique achievement.
  • Players may get distracted easily, making long-term challenges like these difficult but rewarding.

One The Sims 4 veteran discovered a fun and rare achievement that not many players might be aware of . The Sims series is known for its interesting achievements and challenges that players can take on. Some challenges are created by Simmers, while others are created by Maxis itself. Some of the best Sims 4 challenges go hand in hand with achievements and are dependent on the players' preferences and time constraints. It makes sense that a lot of the achievements go unnoticed because of how in-depth they are, much like the one that this Simmer discovered after years of playing.

Reddit user thetiniestlifeboat shared a screenshot of the notification they received while playing The Sims 4 . The notification congratulated them on being a "Legacy Leader," which is described as playing 10 households for 10 generations in the same world .

This is an especially impressive feat because of how long it takes a lot of time to play through even one generation. Many comments in the post acknowledged that they had never known this challenge existed, most often citing their inability to make it past a few generations of one family.

10 Reasons You'll Never Quit The Sims 4 (Despite Its Flaws)

Official challenges go against the norm for sims players, many sims players have a more relaxed play style.

Another fun official challenge mentioned in the comments of the post is the Alphabet Challenge, which is when a player plays the same household for 26 generations and also unlocks an achievement . This has to be done organically without cheats or adding Sims to the household in CAS, otherwise the achievement will not unlock. The final generational challenge is when a player reaches 100 generations in one household and the achievement is called the "Legendary Legacy."

Though there is no way to track how many people have hit these milestones, it is likely the number is low for the Alphabet Challenge, and even lower for the Legendary Legacy.

Many players will play one household for a few months but then get bored and try something new. Players will often find something that takes their attention away from the main household they're playing. From testing out a new occult to trying to build something epic in The Sims 4 , no session is the same. It's also possible some players have attempted the challenge, but the game decided to throw them a curveball and do something sinister to their Sim, like death via hysteria.

Because of the way a lot of players play The Sims , it is not surprising that they don't stick with the same household for that long, let alone 10 households. Thanks to challenges like the "Not So Berry Challenge," which specifically challenges players to play for 10 generations, and the addition of more family-oriented in-game options, introduced in the Growing Together Sims 4 expansion pack , players have more ways to spice up their game play than ever before. Hopefully, this will encourage more people to try to reach these exciting milestones and hold their attention through more than just a few generations in The Sims 4 .
